What happens when we excuse these types of mothers is that these mothers are allowed to go on subtly (or sometimes, not so subtly, as in the time when my mother stripped me of all my clothes in December in Buffalo, New York, and locked me out of the house, telling me to stand outside naked for the night if I wanted to run to my friend’s house without a coat on) psychologically abusing their children.
Sounds familiar. What kind of nutcases are these women? My dh's stepmother did the same to him and his brother just for running to the bus stop in their good 'slacks'. She called them back, made them strip and stand naked in the kitchen all afternoon instead of going to the movies. She threatened to make them stand outside, too, but I suppose she thought if she did, the neighbors might find out what kind an abuser she was.

DWTS: Len IS human. Back in 2012, PBS had a great special about the Titanic, talking about the effect on England. It started with how the ship was made and went through ports of call. It was hosted by Len. He worked in that same shipyard as a welder when he was a young man. He talked about how he would weld all day and dance at night. I ended up really liking him.

Angie actually you can make money in different ways if you have a popular Instagram. There is a bulldog in the Bay Area who has over 90 thousand followers and the owner sells merchandise with the bulldogs image.
Kate can also write a children's book with Zorro as the main character. There are many books ( Clifford the Big Red Dog, e,g. ) with animal characters that are huge money makers. What about a video game (App.) with Zorro as hero of the day! There are many, many more ideas to make money of that little cutie, and I'm talking about the bird!! LOL. There is no doubt in my mind TLC executives are thinking about its future and what direction they would like to take it. What place there is for Kate in all that is anyone's guess. I wonder what is keeping TLC from just taking K+8 out of their lineup. Kate's numbers are fine, and like much of what she does, servicable.
But, TLC just has to be thinking about their new direction, new shows, and dropping Kate with all of her baggage, which is literally a truckload of Samsonites at this point.

And this is just some sick f%$#s show of power. She did it to prove to them that she calls all the shots, they are at her mercy. You're damn right she did it behind closed doors, these people KNOW what they're doing.
The Kardashian girls also have big personalities and dare I say are funny and likable. I've seen some episodes here and there mostly the earlier ones and they are fun.
They may be scripted, but they're watchable. There was one where they were trying to get Kris to lay off Bruce about something, I think money or something, so they skipped ahead of her to the dry cleaners and picked up her dry cleaning and "held it hostage" until she complied. Another one where Brandon and Brody, who are very laid back, babysat their little tween sisters and they were being a huge handful and running them ragged. It was cute and seemed genuine.
Antics like these are passable as entertainment and offer a lot more than "kids cook breakfast snoozefest." The first step in a good reality show is to actually have a personality.
P.S.- is anyone supposed to be impressed that Kate's "boyfriend" has a Range Rover and got "bottle service"?

That Radar article is a nicely timed leak, isn't it? I guarantee you they are not dating. It's just like Gina Neild getting trotted out years ago at the Konpound. There's no affair, right? The BBC Top Gear may be coming back but it is going to be without any of its current hosts. Jeremy Clarkson has a temper and has made racist remarks in the past. He was warned the next time would be the last, but then he physically hit his producer over something trivial. He was fired and co-hosts James May & Richard Hammond and executive producer Andy Wilman all quit.
BBC is trying to get new hosts, but the reality is the trio of Clarkson, Hammond, and May had a chemistry that will likely not be recreated. To add more twists to the mix, they are apparently talking with ITV (who also broadcasts Downton Abbey) about doing a new show together.
Basically in a two week period the BBC went from having one of the top shows in the world to being in substantial doubt if it will return and be anything more than a shell of its former glory.

The Radar article about Kate's date is strange. To me it seems obviously written by Kate's camp. It doesn't name this special, high class restaurant. There are a number of very nice well-known restaurants in Philly. The restaurant should have been named. Then the part about it being the best date of Kate's life. How? Dinner and a casino is fine but not exactly magical. What made it the best? I guess the inference is that not having Jon there made it the best. To me, it sounds so much like a Kate written story because it sounds so teenage dream. "My boyfriend and I went to this expensive place to eat. Then we gambled and drank alcohol and stayed up late! Can you believe it?" When you're 14, it sounds perfect. When you're an adult, it needs something special to be the best date ever.

One big difference between the Kardashians and the Gosselins is that the Kardashians like each other. They all seem to be great friends and truly enjoy spending time together. None of the Ks are on camera talking about how much they hate each other. Nobody whines about how they wish any of their siblings were ever born. None of the kids appears to shun any other kid. Another agree here. I've found little boys to be overall so much more agreeable than little girls are. Whatever you suggest they are game. Girls can be very opinionated, bossy, and whiny. Sociologically speaking, that may be their attempts to overcompensate for feeling not equal to boys, who knows. But it's harder to deal with than an easy going boy. In any case the Gosselin boys have always struck me as very much a typical fun boy: funny, agreeable, going with the flow, game for whatever. EASY. The Gosselin girls have always struck me as a stereotypical girl: a challenge.

I also think the kids are not allowed in the kitchen after a certain time, for any reason. But, because TLC was flipping the bill, Kate allowed the kids in the kitchen to cook, though, I also think the TLC crew set everything up, and Kate knew what was going on right from the start. Agree. If you're making mistakes on an hourly basis it's time for some introspection. "Mistakes" should not happen on an hourly basis.
And there's a different between an honest mistake vs. child abuse or exploitation or being cruel to your children. Parents are allowed to make honest mistakes like for example yelling at a child for making a lot of noise because the parent forget themselves and lost their temper. You can make amends for that mistake and try to be more patient next time, dealing with the situation more calmly. But if you attacked that child and beat the crap out of them for the noise, that becomes more than an honest "mistake." There really isn't room to forgive some of the "mistakes" Kate has made. What's more, she doesn''t appear to even realize she's making mistakes.
The mob mentality that has developed among mothers this decade has been nothing but detrimental to the evolution of parenting. For some odd reason, if you insult one mother for her parenting you insult them all. You don't see that with fathers. They shouldn't be rude to any adults, either in their home, or outside the home. They should be taught to treat people with the same respect that they would want to be treated. That's just how I see it, even if there are extenuating circumstances. If they are snotty to people now, that attitude is only going to follow them as they grow up and get out into the world.

If they want to complain, then they should do so to their mother, the very person who sold their privacy to the highest bidder. IMO there is no excuse for these children to be rude to anyone. That's another easy breezy for Kate. If I had a crew of kids to clean up the entire kitchen after every meal I made, I'd have thought I'd died and gone to heaven. The cooking part is easy. Sure, they should pitch in and help with the clean up, but I think the cleaning rests entirely on their shoulders, otherwise there is hell to pay.

They get away with a lot with her not correcting them, she puts up with, quite frankly, crap from them, and tons of disrespectful lip, and she just takes it. They also appear to be very lavished and spoiled by her. I think this woman is afraid to push them too much lest they rebel and sabotage her celebrity lifestyle. They've definitely figured out by now HER currency. What a difference a few years makes in how she treats them. Of course treating kids like this isn't much better than physically abusing them. Neither tactic is good for children.

My kids can't clean a kitchen like the Gosselins, but they can:
- show and feel empathy for each other, and those around them;

I didn't watch the show, but someone on this thread reported M said something about using the oven..said she'd used it so much that sometimes she forgets to turn it off and is surprised she hadn't burned the house down.

There's a set audience for it, and they show up regardless of the quality of the program. It's a wonder that TLC hasn't already noticed that this isn't an audience that can be grown. Everybody who could possibly be a fan is already there. Word-of-mouth advertising for K+8 is basically Twitter bots broadcasting at each other. Promotion is near-impossible because the program never really changes; the series has been a bitch-moan-whine routine played in a continuous loop. Viewers late to the party haven't missed anything; episode 1 isn't any different from the last new episode aired. Try to do that on a bigger network, and viewers' minds start to fog over from the repetition.
The audience is so set one probably can't even upgrade the ad package, since any new viewers that an upgraded ad package could reach probably wouldn't be watching this show in the first place. Growing the audience for K+8 would involve reaching people who have active IQs.
As a ratings cow, K+8 has its audience, regardless of what actually hits the airwaves. So TLC can save themselves a few bucks by not investing much into it. Why bother? The audience is too stupid/braindead to notice. TFW is such a famewhore she'll take anything that'll keep her Medusa face on the air. TLC has TFW over a barrel, and they know she can't make any credible demands for major investment in her "brand".

100% agree. Kids don't come naturally kind and unselfish. It's an evolution thing. The bossiest most selfish kid got the meat and survived. Since we don't need to be that way anymore just to live, they have to be TAUGHT something different, like kindness, gentleness and self control.
They aren't being taught this or if Jon is doing it it's sadly not enough. This is a perfect, scary example of what happens when you just let kids do and say what they want. With the exception of at times the boys, they are not very pleasant kids and have not been for awhile, and I feel very sorry for them that they are not getting the loving discipline and guidance they need. It's truly a Lord of the Flies situation, where the meanest kid gets his or her way in that house. Why bother to be something else when that works so well?

Thanks Sleepless, at least her ratings numbers are going down. In Jan. it was 1.8 and in Feb. it was 1.44. So two hundred thousand people did not watch it this Sunday when they watched it in February. I think her numbers will continue to go down. Her show is boring and so are the kids. They are all average looking and the girls are badly behaved.
I can't stomach to look at the pictures, but I still don't buy that it was
a date. If a date is people standing near each other in different
locations in nice clothes again and again, then surely TFW has
been dating Steve for years. I think this is a desperate grab for

Well they fixed her age. If she was rude to the camera man (i didn't watch) maybe it IS true she doesnt want to film.
If the golden child can't stand living there how do the others feel? My dd started refusing to go to her dads around 13 due to her narcissistic abusive stepmother. Thing is I couldn't make her go, police don't get involved and all the other parent can do is file for contempt. The older the kids get the harder it will be to get them to go where they don't want to go, and the more the courts will take their wishes into consideration.

After spending four days with her father, Hannah returned home to Kate. But according to the source, the latest battle is just beginning.
The thing is, she was contacting someone ON Twitter to help her get to Jon. How bizarre is that? Someone who follows her. Unless it was Jamie it's extremely odd. Even then, why not text her since she's rarely on Twitter it seems.

Sadly this is inevitable. We called it. We're really at a tipping point here folks. The kids are growing up, and developing their own thoughts and ideas. Some of the are going to realize that if they don't want to film they don't want to, and that filming is not something all of them necessarily want to do. They are all maturing and can't be counted on to go here or there without having their own perspective on things. Some of them may feel their mother is using them or see themselves as her meal ticket, as we have. Or it could be as simple as not being able to go to a birthday party because they're supposed to film that day that could be enough to set an 11 year old off.
Good for Jon taking steps to assist his children and backing them up on their wishes.

Thanks for the link. I''m surprised it would be Hannah, of all the kids. She seems to be Kate's favorite which doesn't speak well of how the rest of the less-favored children must feel. Of course who knows if this is true, but very strange. Recent, too.
So the pap's just happen to be there as the same spot and the same time while Kate was on her date with Jeff who she denied knowing a few months ago.

Hands down those were not of the quality to be professional pap photos.
That was, 100%, some bystander who happened to have a camera on him, it could have even been an iphone photo, that's how poor the quality was. A layman took photos of what they could and sold them, simple as that and happens all the time.
Golden children can fall out of favor. It seems to me the new golden is Mady. That might be incredibly upsetting and confusing for Hannah, because Mady used to be a thorn in Kate's side. Now she's the heir apparent.
I wouldn't be at all surprised if this directly relates to Hannah feeling like she's lost her spot on the pecking order. She's not stupid, and knows the way to get back at Kate for that and lash out is to refuse to film. It all makes sense, especially with TFW's 'protection mode' crap tweet.

Maybe the set up was for the night was that TFW thought Jon would be at the casino for Operation Deflect Jeff Style. She panicked trying to find out. That was no "regular" date. No smiles, kisses on film. Just the source saying there was, except a hand on her back. Big Whoop! They dressed like they would of went to Burger King.
This is a set up through TLC/Steve/Jeff/TFW to deflect the Mexican vacation and the pictures that TLC bought to keep it from coming out about TFM and TFW. Because WHY would she be dating Jeff AND TFM at the same time?
This is a highly, orchestrated mission to deflect TFW and TFM's relationship and when they said we will go to the casino, she panicked and had to find out where Jon was right then. This reminds me of the pizza. She wanted that pizza right then for TFM.

Maybe milo thinks by constantly defending Kate that they will truly be friends? Good grief milo, look at the people Kate's thrown by the wayside-she could not care less for you. If the story about custody is true, I hope a decision is made that is truly in the best interest of that child.
Now on to a fun topic: for DWTS fans, were you surprised by who went home Tuesday night? I was quite surprised! My favorite is still on there.
also, Agents of Shield followed DWTS with their finale show. It was sometimes meandering in the story line this year, but the payoff was absolutely worth it, loved the finale. And it has been renewed, hooray!

I see that InTouch corrected Hannah's age. They now have it as 11.
According to the article, the event happened on April 23, and Hannah spent 4 days at Jon's. Which means she probably came home the evening of the 26th or after school on the 27th.
She tweeted the picture of the girl tups in her bed watching TV the evening of the 27th. Was that a preemptive strike in damage control, to prove that Hannah was home with her in case the story came out the following day about Hannah being with Jon?
