All kidding aside, let me be clear that I am not denigrating
Christianity, nor people who have a sincere calling to be of
service. But when a twentysomething couple living a
celebrity lifestyle suddenly have their hands out to get a
trip funded -- when their family is loaded with a decade of
reality TV income -- I'm going to question their motives.

******
The peope denigrating Christianity are the ones wielding it as a blunt instrument to oppress and hurt others, and to bilk kind people out of their money.
You don't quite your job so you can put your hand out and take money from people who do the right thing and have jobs to pay their bills.
You don't get paid bundles of money from selling photos of your wedding and birth of your son, and beg for good, God-fearing people to give you money they can't afford to part with, because you invoke a sense of Godly duty from them.
It's criminal.

How old are these two? Early 20's?
How about working hard and saving up your money so that you can be free to travel the world and spread the word? How about raising your children where they can have the advantages of first-world healthcare, nutrition and education?
Raise your kids, save your money and spend your retirements making all the sacrifices you want.

He said that moment when Steve held little Robert as a baby over a croc was incredibly hard to recover from the negative PR and that if he had to pinpoint when everything changed it would actually be that and not Steve's death.
******
That was very, very stupid. You just don't put a child in danger like that, and unfortunately, time bore out what people knew despite Steve's bravado: someone was going to get hurt or killed.
A few years ago, I watched as Terri and Bindi did an interview from the rhino enclosure. They were sitting way too close for mamma rhino's comfort, and she charged them.
They both jumped, but Terri laughed it off, "ha ha", like she'll charge but won't hurt them.
An animal will only bluff so many times. That ton+ rhino could have killed them and the crew in seconds.
I was appalled that Kate and and kids posed with elephants in the enclosure, and I believe, Kate posed with a tiger.
I can't stand that level of stupidity and moreover, utter disrespect for wildlife.
Just ask the woman who rode in a car through lion territory in S. Africa with the window open! Chomp, gulp, burp.

Speaking for myself, no offense taken. I am fully aware that some things said or done in the name of God are not actually of God. We Christians are not immune to doing God's thinking for him.

I am so turned off by this young couple, begging their fans for money when they should have plenty of their own to fund their vanity trip (I read elsewhere that they plan to go to El Salvador).

Hopefully they will go somewhere with no internet and we'll never hear from them again.

It really bothered me that in that last show, Kate was cooking with that poor bird climbing all over her..one of these days he will get burned or worse. Then at the table, he was on one of the girls, and I bet he was soon on the table too. Who lets a bird fly free in the place where they eat..just disgusting.

All This Is That said...

I'm confused about this Jilly Faye fund me thing. After all of that time being paid by TLC, don't they have any money of their own?

This sounds like the same grifting that Kate was doing with unsuspecting parishioners.at the Gosselin's speaking engagements. How much did they make the year they were passing that donation basket? When you want money, asking for it in God's name is certain to get a positive response. Then you turn around and purchase a 1.2 million dollar house, laughing all the way to the bank.

capecodmama said...

I saw the repeat episode and considering it was TCFW's 40th bday episode, I was surprised at how much was focused on the kids.

I loved the couch interview with M&C and M called out her mother. TCFW was lamenting turning 40 in the beginning of the show and how she grieved leaving her thirties. M said in the interview that TCFW needs to stop complaining, she knows she doesn't look 40 and she needs to get over it. I thought that was great. And of course M said it in a snide way.

The TCFW was a pill about Colin's gift. He was so excited about the gentlemen letting him have it for 200 pesos (sp) instead of the 550. He thanked him profusely for doing that. I thought he put the most thought into a gift out of all the kids. And then he gets a smackdown for it. What an effing biotch she was. I thought it was interesting that TCFW said she was going shopping alone while Deanna took the kids yet TLC didn't show her shopping excursion. I took that to mean her and TFM were shopping for new flotation devices.

I have a different take on M. I have always felt, from the beginning, that the arrival of the tups had a huge, negative effect on M. I think she feels that she was shoved aside. Which, let's face it, her and C were. Whereas C internalized her feelings, M let them loose. I think M is one of those kids that, whether the tups arrived or not, always needed extra attention. In a normal household, with normal parents, that need would have been recognized and given. But in a household with a mother that craves the spotlight, the child's need go unrecognized. Therefore, the child lashes out. A film crew suddenly appears, and the child's behavior becomes increasingly worse. Filming lasts for several years, the child's behavior is amplified as she gets older to the point where she is now a teenager and people say she's a bitch and out of control. A lot of people say, M loves the spotlight. But what if she doesn't. What if she never did. What if, at the age of 14, she feels this is her way of getting back at her mother because she doesn't want filming done. What if she feels if I act up and make my mother look bad maybe they will decide not to film anymore. I could also be talking out of my ass but just a thought.

The scene with TCFW and Deanna at the restaurant was so ironic and cracked me up. Here they were, single 40 year old women and they were laughing when they singled out a gentleman with dark curly hair, white buttoned down shirt on with the top couple of buttons unbuttoned and his chest hair exposed. They commented that the way he was sitting and with his chest exposed he was definitely single and available. Look in a mirror you two morons! You were so caught up in laughing at this guy that you failed to see you were sailing in the same boat as him. Pathetic.

It looks like she might have given up on Kate, her buddy, her bff. She's moved on to other women and men. I haven't seen her begging to babysit the kids, or pestering her for an invitation to swim in Kate's pool. I don't read all of Kate's TL, so maybe I missed it, but it seems like Kate was last year's flavor, and Uggs wants shout outs from those who are actually on television and touring. She really is a middle-aged, lonely celebrity chaser, and in a way, that's kind of sad. Weird, but sad.

We saw the lion Kate posed with in the lion enclosure. He was sleeping and three zoo workers were in there waiting to take photos. I wouldn't be surprised if they keep it mildly sedated. That part was so wrong but overall the zoo was good. Well attended too. The croc show was full. It is their first days of winter break which could explain that. The koala hospital had us in tears. We donated two huge piles of office supplies to them. I'll post a pic.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

The zoo is very hands on by the way. Lots of things you can touch. We were saying that could confuse a child if they see an animal in the wild who is not tame and think it's approachable like the cute kangaroo they fed at the zoo. What an experience this has been.

Tucker's Mom (#1), great points about the Duggars. What ever
happened to delayed gratification? Working hard towards a goal? Why should strangers pick up the tab for their "good works" --
wouldn't they be "gooder" if they were achieved through personal
sacrifice and patience? Will Jill and Derrick be bringing specialized knowledge to these impoverished areas? If not, why not stay in Arkansas and help the needy there? Or somewhere else in the US?

During this mission trip, if pictures start showing up on Instagram

Grifting is just wrong no matter who is doing it. Be it the Duggar's daughter, or TFW, they are just wrong for trying to take money from kind unsuspecting people. It is not Christian or anything honest good people would think of doing. Fund your own trips, missions, babies, homes, vacations, autos, and home remodels. In other words, pay your own way and fund your own life. The idea of any man with a family purposefully quitting a good job and living off of others', is just horrible. Remember when Jon Gosselin quit his job with the State of PA? Didn't work out so good. Now the Duggar son in law has quit a job with WalMart corporate. Not too smart in my book!

Winsomeone said...

Has anyone seen any previews for the birthday special yet? Maybe they will be on tonight.

Tucker's Mom said...

I had to share this Ask Amy, as it reflects how disgusted I feel about Kate teasing the kids about her going away to Mexico without them:

"DEAR AMY: My husband and I have a bright, social and engaging 5-year-old daughter. Our problem has to do with how some family members and close friends interact with her.

Examples include people visiting our home and telling her that they are going to take her baby brother home with them, which resulted in my daughter screaming in protest while the other person had a hearty laugh.

Then there was the time an adult relative came to her birthday party and repeatedly said, “It’s my party and I’m going to cut the cake!” while my daughter progressively got more confused and agitated. This went on until she was in tears and the adult started laughing.

We see no meaning in such interactions. We have tried to steer the conversation elsewhere, but we want to get the message across politely, but clearly, that we do not appreciate people agitating our child.

My daughter says that she hates being teased by adults and we have asked her to tell people that, but in that moment, she can’t. What can we do to send the message politely that we would like our child to be treated with respect and not teased for fun? -- Agitated Mom

DEAR AGITATED: Some adults are able to engage children appropriately by “kidding.” Five-year-olds usually catch on pretty quickly when an adult says, “Hey, wait a minute — that’s MY birthday cake!” if the adult telegraphs that this is a kidding game. The adult conveys this with a smile and body language that signals to the child his intentions.

Teasing a child until she is obviously distressed is just bullying. Laughing at a child you have made cry is disgusting.

I’m not sure why you are so worried about being polite. While this is happening, you should place your hand on your child’s arm and say, “Uncle Buck is teasing you, honey.” If you don’t catch it in time, after you comfort your child you should ask the adult, “Please don’t tease her. You are the only person who enjoys it.”

From USA Today:

Take Lifetime's UnReal (Mondays at 10 ET/PT), which delves into the disreputable goings-on behind the scenes of a reality dating show.

"It was taking a really hard look at popular culture and media in a way that I was so excited to attack," she says. "We all think we're such savvy viewers. In reality, there's another story that's much meaner than people understand," she says.

How accurate is it? Totally, if you ask Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, of Jersey Shore fame. "#UnREALtv is exactly how production life is. #spoton," she Tweeted this month.

"People would be shocked to know how many reality producers and in one case, stars, have gotten in contact with me to say that we're telling the truth," Noxon says. "This is how it is. They really are casting for high drama. Everything that happens this season is based on a true story or an extrapolation of what happened," says Noxon.

Noxon adds that beyond the show-within-a-show conceit, her series deals with issues bigger than just the travails and traumas of one heartthrob and the women vying for his affection. "The show is about the struggle for Rachel's soul, about doing jobs where you feel like you're morally compromised every day and you talk yourself into it. There's this highly dysfunctional family that forms," she says.

This mission idea has been in the works for a while. I read about it as a rumor before the Josh scandal was revealed, I'm pretty sure. Derek was in Nepal when he and Jill began "courting" and it was mentioned that they wanted to do mission work there before they even got married.

Asking for donations - they'll get a ton of money, I'd guess. Lots of people still supporting them, and their views on homosexuality, and with the gay marriage approval this week people will probably send some money to Dillard-Duggar Town to show their disapproval of the Supreme Court decision.

I still don't think the Duggar show will be cancelled, but if it is I think the spin off predictions will come true. The mission trip will be filmed. They'll air it as a "special" if not part of a series. The Duggar train is going to keep rolling down the TLC tracks.

Bubbles, I agree with you about the Dillard's mission trip. They alluded to this being an opportune time. That might translate into "TLC will help with costs while they're filming us and they are ready to film now. After they leave we will need to live off our gofundme donations".

Not sure if this has been posted yet, but the Season 3 premier of "Last Tango in Halifax" is on tonight! If you haven't seen this PBS series you really need to check it out It's very good.

Here's a brief description of the show;
" Full of zesty humour, great characters and glorious dialogue, it’s about timeless love in a very modern setting. Childhood sweethearts Alan and Celia, both widowed and in their 70s, fall for each other all over again when they are reunited on the internet after nearly 60 years. Alan and Celia both have daughters, whose dysfunctional lives bring drama at every turn."

Sherry Baby (#57), boy, Gladys really has no awareness of how
inappropriate it is to ask TFW how much it cost to repair her
phone. And if I was a bettin' woman, I'd say TFW just got a brand
new phone. On account of she's a millionaire, and just plays a
struggling single mom on TV.

And I'm surprised it took Gladys a week to bring up the gifts.
Can you see how she's trying to direct the narrative? She's
probably been reading here all week and seeing how upset
many of us were about C's gift being snubbed. So she's
giving TFW the opportunity to perhaps tweet a pic of the gifts,
or to repeat how she's going to treasure them. And maybe
redeem herself from the C debacle. Only problem is, TFW
still doesn't know she did anything wrong.

I don't believe for one minute that Jill and Jessa received a dime for their time on the show. It is Daddy's job to control, er, support the family and I am willing to bet any income the girls made while at home (midwifery payments, for example) went straight to Daddy to control. Now that J and J are married, it is their husbands' jobs to support them. Daddy
was off the hook the second his daughters got their first kiss and he could cross them off the list of expenses. Shoot, after they are married they're not even Duggars anymore! They're Dillards and Seewalds, controlled, er, supported by men named Dillard and Seewald.

Unless Derick Dillard has saved most of his Walmart earnings, they're going to have to put their hands out somewhere to go to Nepal. It looks like God laid it on their hearts to suspend logic and play Abraham, who left his father's land to go wherever God led him.

I would not be surprised, however, if Dugger BOYS got financial help from Dad so they can be heads of household and control, er, support a houseful of children with the last name Duggar.

I have another thought about the bikini romp: TFW is trying to
stick it to Jon. She is still obsessed with him. No, I don't think
she still loves him -- I don't even think she's capable of any kind
of healthy reciprocal love. But Jon is the one person she hasn't
been able to "delete" from her life, and I think it eats her up.
He's also the person who decided he didn't want to film anymore,
and spoiled what she imagined to be at least another decade of
non-stop filming and luxury and ease and glamor.

So being the 12-year-old girl she is emotionally, she probably
thinks, oooh, wait'll he sees how hot I look! Won't he be sorry!
Meanwhile, he's the one who managed to move on to a few
long-term relationships and doesn't seem to care a feather or
a fig what she does.

She thinks it's funny to degrade others. Poor Collin, he was so excited about his little gift and she just had to humiliate him. I think she does a lot of this stuff for the cameras because she thinks she's being cute. I think many of the girls do this as well. They are over-actors.

The last thing I wanted to bring up is when she said it was so hard to find someone to take her kids shopping for her. Such an alienator.

What's funny is that she jumps on Kate's twitter, scolds the non-fans and calls them names, and just basically pokes at them. I didn't watch the show. Did she say what kind of bird food? I would imagine if the bird is on a veggies, nuts and fruit only diet (as oppose to store-bought seed food) then yes, she would chop up everything and store it in the refrigerator. Even if the bird is on a seed or pellet diet from the pet shop, the food stays much fresher if you keep it in the refrigerator. You don't risk the growth of fungus in the bags and those pesky little nit flies stay away. I always keep my bird food in storage containers in the refrigerator. If I buy in quantity, I put it in the freezer.

If Kate is keeping the bird food in the refrigerator, that's probably one of the smarter things she's done. I have love birds that are on a pellet and seed diet, along with fresh fruits and vegetables. I always freeze the bags of seeds first. It really helps to get rid of moths that might be hiding in the food. I remember one time bringing home a bag of food and when I opened it, so many moths and little flies flew out. I took the bag back to the store, got another brand, and then froze it first before I put it into the refrigerator. Pet shops recommend keeping the food in the refrigerator. It really does keep it fresh longer.

If you look on the bags of some of the brands, it will tell you that it will stay fresh three times as long if you keep it refrigerated, as opposed to keeping it in the pantry in containers.

I have always thought that Hannah would never leave. First of all, Kate would never let that happen. Can you imagine the PR disaster? Even if Hannah really was unhappy there are many ways kate can stop that from happening. From brainwashing to buying her things. Kate can also make a deal with the court that she'll get therapy. Therapy is no big deal, the therapist can not repeat anything kate says so all her secrets would be just that secrets.

The child that should be removed immediately is Collin. Kate is doing major damage to that child. I feel so bad for him. He seems to be such a sweet kid. And Kate would miss her slave!

Sue_Buddy why don't you write a book about Kate+8. I would write it but I'm more of a talker. Robert could have made some serious money but he didn't promote the book. There is very obviously a problem with Kate's attitude toward that little boy. The whole gift opening scene was very blatant - all the fake, syrupy "oohing & aahing & I love it" over each turtle gift in the vocal tone you use to amuse babies & then a flat "oh" when she opened Colin's gift.
But there was another scene with Colin that bothered me even more. It was when they were doing the mud drive - Colin was in the front passenger seat & Kate was pretending that she had never seen the inside of a vehicle before. She says "what am I doing"? and helpful little Colin gestures forward to something and Kate says "Don't" and sticks her finger in his face. She says 'that's your handle buddy" in a rather unkind tone. The finger in his face when he was trying to be helpful bothered me greatly.

Tucker's Mom shared a post from Ask Amy, in part:

Teasing a child until she is obviously distressed is just bullying. Laughing at a child you have made cry is disgusting.

I’m not sure why you are so worried about being polite. While this is happening, you should place your hand on your child’s arm and say, “Uncle Buck is teasing you, honey.” If you don’t catch it in time, after you comfort your child you should ask the adult, “Please don’t tease her. You are the only person who enjoys it.”
******
In that parent's shoes, I would speak with the person who made my child cry (in private, away from everyone) and tell them their behavior was not acceptable and if they cannot understand why, and will not agree to not do so again, they will not be invited back to my house.

I would have also stepped in the moment I saw my child becoming upset, and put a stop to it. Being polite is certainly important, but stopping my child from being teased to the point of tears would be of greater importance.

You may be right. I think the season closed with a teaser about an announcement from Jill and Derick .... dun dun dun! What could it be? And it was probably them saying Derick was quitting his job at Wal-Mart to do missionary work, (to be filmed by TLC of course).

How interesting would such a show be, if the stars were Jill and Derick? Derick speaks awkwardly, lots of pauses as if he's searching for the right way to say something. Jill is rather boring and doesn't have much of interest to say either. The baby would be cute, but seriously, how could they hold viewer interest with just the three of them traipsing about, trying to convert a primarily Catholic population to their version of Christianity? I think that might offend viewers who are religious but not fundamentalists. I know they have a large following among fundamentalists but that doesn't mean they'd get great viewing numbers. If TLC and their advertisers want to throw their money at these two and create a dull show, that's fine with me. There is no way they'll bring in the numbers that they pulled before.

No, I have nothing exciting planned for the rest of the day, unless you consider making chicken and broccoli cassarole for dinner exciting.

I really wonder if he will. I've been reading various articles about this, and he doesn't appear to be really upset over it. He said what he wanted to say, knowing that the network, which is politically democratic left, might do this. What's interesting is that NBC has known about his stance on this for some time, but it's only been after the announcement of his candidacy that they chose to remove their connections with him.

One more comment about the mud drive - ever safety conscious Kate drives at a snails pace so that no mud splashes her, Colin, Leah & Hannah. So when Kate decided to drive again, why did she take Cara & not the kids that she short-changed on the first go-round???

The Goody sheep posted some time ago that Jon lost the custody hearing. I have no idea how she knows when it was held, or what the results were. When questioned, she didn't answer.

As to answer Kates question on why after 5 years people keep asking, if she is dating. You know why Kate, cause, everything you are doing with your not cute 4-5 year old children, most people have been there done that, or are in the process. What people who went through that with their kids and are going through that with their kids, do not want to be reminded of any of that. You Kate are not the only person in the world or universe, who ever raised children. That has been going on for thousands of years. Most people today do not want to sit and watch someones elses kids, who are rude, ill mannered, fight, scream, yell, and are whiny, etc. Your family Kate has NOTHING to offer, the audience. Your kids have no talent, not getting married, not on any teams, except one twin that we know of, not having children, they are nothing special. So get over yourself! For the person who asked how to promote a book. My nephew wrote a book after he graduated from Harvard. He was very young and he was able to get a publishing company to publish his book. He got an advance that bought him a new car. His agent called different radio stations, TV programs and set up opportunities for him to promote his book. That was years ago so maybe things have changed but I doubt it. He eventually got a radio talk show and now works for CNN. He sometimes comments on politics . My point is that how else would all those unknown authors get on TV to promote their books.

In the whole scheme of things, she's nothing, and certainly not worth it for anyone to go to such an extent as to spend so much time and money promoting a book on someone whose glory days have long since gone. Robert wrote it, sold it, and told it exactly as it was. Well, bless your heart! I'd like to see me write a great book, too.

May I ask what was the topic of your nephew's book--not the title, just the subject matter.

I have a friend who recently completed a book--fiction. She doesn't want to go the self-publishing route and she's had a heck of a time finding a publisher, hasn't found one yet. She's a great writer and funny as heck and has a wonderful way with words, but so many people are out there writing books these days. Have another friend who has written stories that are available on Amazon for a small fee. They're great stories that would make a fabulous novel. Wonderful stories. He used to produce documentaries but is now retired and dabbling in writing. He hasn't decided if he'll self publish or try for a publisher. I think both should be published for all to read. Time will tell. One needs to be wholly committed.

If I were to write a book, I think I'd write fiction. Just for laughs I started writing a story about Kate's whacky fans (won't mention their names) who meet in a central location and go on a road trip to Kate's to surprise her! It was kinda funny, but I figured it was rather cruel to make fun of those whacky fans. Maybe I could change the names to protect the whacky.

Sorry, Pam, but I have to disagree. I saw a few minutes when the Dad was dragging a terrified little girl out shopping, all for the cameras. It was in the process of adopting her and they were strangers to her. It was horrific. TLC is treating dwarfism like a sideshow act. Would these people have a show if they were of average height? Thousands of people go overseas to adopt and we don't see them on t.v. Once again, these kids have no privacy. Oh, I did hear one of the parents say "No cameras" for a few weeks, but big deal, it was likely the end of their season anyway. Let's have shows about whole families in wheelchairs. Or with missing limbs. See what I mean? Why is it okay to gawk at dwarfism? So, TLC has morbidly obese people, dwarfs, physical and mental anomalies, guys with huge testicles. Sound like a carnival sideshow? It does to me. Those sideshows don't exist anymore, yet they now exist on t.v. and we think it's okay.

Why would you promote a "college" and then refuse to let your own adult kids go, especially THE GIRLS. The only reason I can think of is money. Jim Bob and Michelle are pure hypocrites.

Not bragging, but, after the boys dad left, (I have 3 ds's) and my situation, they pulled themselves together and worked hard and put themselves through college with academic scholarships and a full ride scholarship and they have no college loan debt. This also applies to the Little People, even though they are apparently doing it 'right' and love their kids, the kids are WORKING.
Just because the parents are likable doesn't mean they get a pass about making their kids WORK.

I think the viewing public has different rules for different shows. Nadia Suleman was vilified for her HOM, was that because she was single? used public assistance?
Kate, on the other hand, was given everything on a golden platter. Was it because she was white, christian and married?

All all these yrs the Duggars were given a pass, and look at what hell was going on in their household. And so far, TLC hasn't canceled them-- but Honey Boo Boo was axed within hours of their molestation news.
Different rules for different folks.

Just recently, my mother had it sent to my son for the granddaughter. They loved it for the baby's room. My mother also sent a beautiful doll to sit in it, that she had bought 10 years ago.

The chair has a beautiful patina and it will be a gift from her great-great grandmother. We have family films that were transferred from 8 mms to DVD's. On one film is my great grandfather plowing his field with a horse and plow. How awesome is that to have a film of this man who plowing his field and his great-great-great grandson can see today?

Darn. I may be repeating myself because not sure if my comment went through so here goes again.

The Little Couple are totally OWNED by TLC. They are filthy rich and I see no end in sight.

The adoption was also a ploy for ratings although the parents were wanting children. TLC seems to have a thing for adoption. Remember the plan for Jon and Kate to go to South Korea? Then the marriage imploded. Uh oh, no baby from South Korea to hype ratings.

The Little Couple's kids are ratings bait. Just because the family seems happy means nothing because those kids are forced to be on TV. If the parents want a family, that's fine, but don't force the kids to be a part of their circus act.

Not piling on you Pam! I promise ;-)
But, I have to agree. At it's core the show is now about little children who have no say, and no ability to consent.
They should have privacy and normalcy, for the very reason their parents are putting them in the spotlight.
Yes, the parents are educated, smart and financially comfortable. They are more palatable than Kate, for sure. But, they share the same common denominator as every other parent who uses their kids for money and fame, and that is, making money off the backs of their kids.

The little couple has accomplished what they *say* they wanted; to educate.
Done.

Why are they continuing to sign on season after season, and when will it end?

At some point, the show does become their lives.

The only parents I can point to who have stepped out of the spotlight and gone back to being mediocre are the Hayes family.

I also think they are opening their kids up to criticism- while they are wanted, cute and in a good home, they are spoiled and have physical disabilities.Personally I wouldn't want my child's behavior not at its finest, filmed, nor their physical check-ups and discussion of their special needs. Education is one thing, but filming the kids constantly can do no good as we certainly know.

Sue_Buddy (166): "If I were to write a book, I think I'd write fiction. Just for laughs I started writing a story about Kate's whacky fans (won't mention their names) who meet in a central location and go on a road trip to Kate's to surprise her! It was kinda funny, but I figured it was rather cruel to make fun of those whacky fans. Maybe I could change the names to protect the whacky."

)))))))))))))))

Now that would be funny. I'd buy that one! Imagine what you could do with those sheeple!

I agree with Sue, though, a non-fiction on Kate and her antics has been done. I'm sure Sue could write an excellent book, but what else is left to say that hasn't already been said? Robert laid it all out on the table for anyone interested in the real Kate Gosselin saga.

==============

Here's my two cents as author of two novels (a specific genre of fiction), with a small following and with a third novel in the works. I also lead writing classes and speak on creative writing from time to time.

There is most definitely a story here. The story isn't about Kate or the fans specifically but about this netherworld we all see by peeking in on the likes of Milo and Ms. Uggs.

These are people who live their lives vicariously through reality stars or believe themselves to be friends or family with them. They believe these celebrities care about them and might give them a shout-out.

Milo checks Kate's weather to make sure she knows about storms, for gosh sakes. Uggs thinks they want to go to bed with her. (Ugh, Uggs!) Em believes Kate wants to be her children's godmother. Goody hates Jon passionately but has never met him. Then there's the defective detective and Bullyville. These are ready-made characters! Of course, change the names as you said to protect the whacky! (lol).

Then there are the Kates who throw them all bones.

What makes the fans tick? What do they expect? Why does a reality "star" like Kate encourage it? And then there's the whole Norma Desmond aspect of Kate herself. It's a pretty sorry world, all in all, but a most interesting and sad and funny one, in a freak show kind of way.

So you'd have your Milo character, your Goody character, your Em character, your Uggs character and on and on. Maybe the character like Jules who met Kate and backed off quickly. Your Steve character, who thinks he's some Untouchables bodyguard, carrying Kate's purse.

You might even have a blog like this that has running commentary.

So the story isn't about Kate Gosselin or Milo specifically, but about these types of people. Shed a little light on them and make us laugh, Sue Buddy! Have fun with it. I think the idea of them meeting and taking a bus to Kate's is FUNNY. Can you imagine Kate coming to the door with Zorro on her shoulder, shrieking for Steve who comes out in his bathrobe and with a revolver? Maybe Shoka protects the fans and not Kate because he HATES Kate.

But you're not making fun of Milo but a character like Milo or Uggs or whomever. And Kate isn't Kate per se, but a character like Kate.

On baby watch. Any day now, my oldest ds and DIL will have a baby girl!! I am over the moon already
*********
Congratulations, and keep us in the loop!
What wonderful family heirlooms!

The adoption was also a ploy for ratings although the parents were wanting children. TLC seems to have a thing for adoption. Remember the plan for Jon and Kate to go to South Korea? Then the marriage imploded. Uh oh, no baby from South Korea to hype ratings.
********
Kate would never adopt a child. That was a bunch of hooey from Kate. She's never fully explained why the adoption didn't happen.
If you want to adopt from Korea and have a child all lined up, ready to go, you pull the damn trigger.
Kate is full of it.
Maybe Kate bandied about the idea to placate Jon, but she wanted multiple multiples, period.
The reason she wanted TLC to take them to S. Korea is so she could be ogled, adored and venerated as this white woman with 8 Asian babies.
It was dumb to even entertain taking all those really young kids all that way. When they're older, I hope Jon can take them, I really do.
Then, and with him, it can really be meaningful.

(I also hope Jon still makes bulgogi for them!)

Oh, also, one of the great things about Uggs as a character is that she looks like a middle school math teacher, but doesn't mind tweeting male reality stars and sports figures about their endowments. "I've seen pictures!" "Meet up with me afterward for a drink!" Wow.

Tried to cut and paste but it's not working today on my phone. You asked why nadja suleman was vilified by the public when she gave birth to her octoplets while Kate was handed everything on a golden platter.

I believe some of what you suggest is true: people recoiled at the idea of a single mother raising 14 kids alone, 8 of whom are the same age, 14 of whom were conceived purposely via in vitro, or whatever she did. She clearly was unstable and her decisions seemed ill-advised for all concerned.

I think Kate was given a pass at first, and handed things on a plastic platter (as is appropriate), because it entered NO ONE'S mind that anyone would do this on purpose..and even more unbelievably, for fame and freebies. Kate pretended to be a victim of fate, of the fertility meds, of her alleged PCOS, of her Christian beliefs. Who does that? No wonder people didn't suspect it at first because that type of manipulation was unheard of before then. Bobbi McCaughey was sincere. Kate pretended to be like her FOR THE ATTENTION AND MONEY. gross.

By the time Nadja came around, people were sick of crazy Kate with her greedy hands out (all the while parading her soon-to-be-starving-and-homeless children for effect). Plus nadja was at least honest, which did her no favors in the PR department.

I agree. The boys' new bedroom seemed very big and the girls could take over the room where M and C stayed during the room swap...or the basement playroom.Hope kids aren't filmed in PJs.

Well, I, for one, can't concentrate on anything, in giddy
anticipation of tonight's show. On second thought, I think I'll
just paint a room today, so I can watch the paint dry tonight.

No interviews for TFW for tonight's show either? But, but, but,
she's the face of TLC! The scowling, botoxed, snotty, surly,
entitled, veneer-grinning, eye-rolling face of TLC!

Just got a preview of tonight's show on People.com. My first thought was "what kind of drug is Kate on?! Xanax or Ativan or something else? She was talking so slow and mellow while on the couch, it made me notice right away.

Not that I was going to watch K8 but I'm happy that I'll be on a plane when she comes on tonight.

I'll miss her the first time and her rerun.

Yes, I was thinking about this. I can understand an attractive, young, celebrity groupie following her crush around, wanting to meet him, being in the right place at the right time for him to notice her and for him to be interested. I can't, though, understand why a middle-aged, mediocre looking mother with a weight problem, the mother of an adult son would ever expect any of these celebrities to want to "hang out" with her when they have their pickings of cute young women. It's just really strange. When you go far as to comment on male endowments, it goes from being disgusting to really bizarre. A fan such as this would be a great character in a book. It's all right there. You don't need to make anything up!

Sue's book...yes, I agree! This wouldn't have to be a novel, but a short story would be wonderful. Publish it on a blog or submit it to a magazine. The characters are all there for the taking. They've already established themselves, their personas. What makes them tick? I think that someone, Sue especially, could do a great job with this because she's "knows" them so well, even if from afar!

Re birthday parties at hotels, we had a birthday party at a hotel one year, it seemed to be something that more kids were having. The birthday was in fall, and local hotel was marketing this. Probably they had business travelers during the week and didn't want to be empty on weekends. Anyway it was great for us. Hotel had a pool, breakfast buffet included, we got pizza for the evening, stayed one night. Only hiccup was a fire alarm at two am, the kids thought it was exciting! Keeping track of everyone as we trooped down the stairs and outside was a bit challenging.
Advantage: I didn't have to clean my house before or after!

I saw two clips on people on for her 6 b-day and Kate looks so skinny and unhealthy and unattractive.

The other clip for her b-day she had to think when Deanna asked her what her goals were I was like wow. After that she said she wished people would stop asking about her dating..HAHA than she blasted Jon.

I'm sure Jon is so much happier now he's rid of Kate.

Good point about Nadia's instance. Nadia was transparent from the get-go, with all her crazy out there for all to see.
Nadia didn't invoke religion to whitewash what she did, which was more similar to Kate than it was different.
Both women took risks with the probability of having multiple births.
When it comes down to the heart of the matter, that's exactly what they both did.
Kate was married, Christian and let me say, white.

Yes, I said it. I think people recoiled at Nadya in part because they perceive her as mixed race/middle eastern.
She was not on some Godly mission, rejecting selective reduction, although that's just what she did.
Nadya was vilified while Kate was raised up on a pedestal and venerated.
It was pretty sickening and Kate didn't let the opportunity go by to publicly shame "Octomom".

The funny thing? Kate is just as nuts.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Probably cheaper for TLC too as they wouldn't have had to pay for her lawn care or any other little projects TFMJG would have wanted in order to ready the set, uh konpound, for filming.

And the unwashed masses are supposed to relate to this? Eleven is not a milestone birthday and she's doing this now just wait until the twins and then the tups turn 16. To quote TFW, OH.MY.LORD! She's raising them to expect more, more, more.
