I see narcissistic Kate is making the kids watch family re-runs, of what they already lived. Is this a bribe to get them to keep filming, by showing what they had and did? SICK!

All the noise she was making late at night and early the next morning was ridiculous.
Pick up the fucking phone and call instead of knocking on the door like a battle ram.

I don't know if I'm looking at the same Fourth of July photo, but the one Kate tweeted yesterday is NOT a professional fireworks display.. It looks like firecrackers or sparklers that someone has set up in a driveway. We have some going on here right now down the road, and they are all lined up, exactly the way the ones in the photo were set up.

I don't believe for a minute that she & the kids are watching the show. She says "we're watching" - it could just be her & Zorro for all we know. But I noticed that every now & then she posts a "we're watching our show" message & I think the purpose is to give her twitter fans the opportunity to tell her how much they love the show & what a great mom she is. It's marketing.

Oh, of course! Mama always gets a home. I can't let her outside to fight for survival in the cold and snow we have here. I adopted one of the other Mamas, named her Fantine, and one of her kittens, Cosette, and found homes for Mama's other kittens. I visit them occasionally, and all are loved and are inside cats only.

I have never mentioned it before but I am so bothered by the big job that folks do of "making memories". How about just enjoying the day, the activity, and the company, whoever they are. You will remember it when the time is right, at the oddest times in years to come, with no effort. Of course everyone will have a different memory of the same even because we all experience everything differently. But why the big effort of making memories? It rubs me the wrong way all the time.

********************************************************

This speaks volumes to the level of Kate's delusions of relevance. First off, memories by their very nature exist only in your mind, you can't record them.

You can record experiences and events in time but they are not memories. Memories are individual and personal recollections and relative only to the person experiencing them.

What she's watching are home videos filmed by a production company that were/are sold to the masses as entertainment. That's all.

I really believe Kate's recall of experience begins and ends with the camera. She's not really living unless she's being filmed, she's just going through the motions.

Kate is going to be one hot mess (yes, even more than she is now) when TLC finally gives up the ghost and stops filming this family.

As much as we all champion for those kids to stop being filmed, I really shudder to think how much more difficult life will be for them when that finally does happen.

There really is some small measure of security for them with the presence of a crew and producers. It's incredibly sad to say but I'm really starting to believe that.

On a lighter note...

Happy Birthday franky! Hope it was a good one. :D

If they watch them over and over, do they feel a division between real life and what is depicted on TV? Wouldn't they think Mommy was mean in the cupcake, bear, pumpkin, Toys R Us & so many other scenes, and also 'mean to Daddy?" Those kids are old enough to catch on. I really wonder if they actually do watch or is it Kate alone?

This is such a good point. If you pull back, you'd see a full crew and production people orchestrating everything.
That's what's real in unreality tv world.

BTW, I also skimmed through the Mexico episode and how pissed would you be if you paid to go to that expensive resort, only to have a film crew next to you on the beach?
I saw one guy run into the "frame" to catch what looked like a soccer ball, then run the hell out so he wouldn't be filmed.
Another women in the background was putting clothes on to cover up.
Kate and Deanna seemed to have part of the restaurant cleared for them for filming.

I watched the Mother's Day episode on youtube and what I thought was really telling/sad was how she ate her breakfast by herself on the couch with no one around her. On Mother's Day, I LOVE it when my kids are around me and we all enjoy each other's company, and they all want to sit next to me, including my 15 yr old son (I also have a 9 and a 10 year old). The image of her sitting on her couch lounging by herself eating her meal (and looking content) was very disturbing for me as a mother.

***********************************************

Exactly. I really think that for Kate "making memories" simply became a catch phrase that justifies (in her mind) the exploitation of her children.

The way she uses the term implies that without filming the kids would have no memory of their lives which is, of course, ridiculous.

What they do and will have is memories of camera crews, Mommy disappearing for weeks at a time, photo shoots, vacations and events where Mommy screeched and made everything about her.

I'm not sure I think Kate watches the shows to brainwash and gaslight her children so much as she does to simply relive the experience of being filmed.

If you're being filmed, especially paid handsomely too boot, you must be important and better than the mediocres. Kate's self worth is clearly tied very firmly to that camera lens.

So, when she's not being filmed and needs a fix, she watches old episodes to get that narc hit. Not sure if there is any research yet on the subject but I wonder if people simply get addicted to being filmed.

And I suppose it could extend to the selfie phenomenon.

I didn't watch but I agree. Kate always looked the most content during the couch interviews when she could sit back and blather on and on about herself and how everything affects HER.

As many people have said here for years, Kate acts the star and the kids are merely props in her one woman show. The day will come when those kids will finally realize it, if some haven't already.

I'm thinking Mady and Cara at least have figured that part out by now.

No, they were not the same pictures. The location may have been the same, but Kate didn't tweet last year's photos and pass them off as this year's. Where did this come from? KIAT found the pictures from last year to show that in all probability the fireworks (or whatever they were) were set off from the same place.

When I hear the term "making memories" and "making new traditions", I hear it as manufacturing memories and traditions. she clearly doesn't experience authentic feelings or emotions, so I don't think she really understands that memories just happen--they are not manipulated or forced. it's like she has these ideals of perfection. And then tries to force life, and other people, to make them happen for her. I feel sorry for her....I just do.

I think that the more TFW watches herself the more she'll pick out every little flaw - especially in the last few episodes. Without hair and make-up she really does look pretty bad. She will notice that and get more and more surgery until she resembles The Joker more than she resembles herself, past or present. I'm looking forward to that day. Also, the more weight she looses the bigger the girls look and sag and she can't continue to get them lifted because they'll end up as a double chin sooner or later!

Especially if it's a sheeple ball.

You know, I was just thinking back to the mediocre comment she made a few years ago. She didn't want a mediocre life for her kids. But that's exactly what they have. In the years that she wasn't filming, those kids had school and home, Amen. Only Cara got to play lacrosse and get away from the drudgery of their life. A big house doesn't insulate you from mediocrity. Even now, unless TLC is filming, which takes a few weeks of the year, their lives are extremely mediocre. How does she not see that? She lives in a fantasy land of yesterdays and "memories". She and her kids are way more ordinary than most people on the planet. They are and do nothing special at all.

FlimsyFlamsy said...

I have an interesting example of the bizarre "memory making
machine" that was J&K+8.

Does anyone remember some outdoor winter activity when
TFW was barking orders at Jon so she could take a picture
of the kids? She was directing him like a drill sergeant with
things like, "Fix the hat of J! Fix the hat of C!" If any of the
10 Gosselins were having a good time at that moment, they
hid it very well.

Yet somewhere there exists a picture of the 8 G kids with
matchy-matchy outfits, smiling on a winter afternoon. Those
smiles are fake. And if someone ever tries to convince those
children that that was a happy occasion, then that person is
lying.

It looked odd and staged, as each kid had an audience with Kate, and those poor boys looked less than thrilled to get stuck rubbing stinky feet.
Kate won't even touch their socks, but they have to rub her toes!

Kate has the money and time to get massages, and I'm sure she does. There's no reason to burden those kids with her whining physical complaints.
They are too young and don't need to be feeling any anxiety about their mother falling apart.

He was with a very pretty woman who looked a bit taller than him per my sister's observations. I asked 20 questions and I know she thought I was a nut! There was a huge firework display. She doesn't know too much about the Gosselin's so all I got was kids where at the pool with Jon and woman most of the afternoon. She said they had 2 rows of chairs. They got pool side food service. All the kids got in the water. I asked her how many boys were with him but she could not say for sure.

The pictures from the 4th of July "this year" bother me.. I thought something was up, and it wouldn't surprise me if they were staged to make it look like the kids were home.

The flag cake picture- there are no people in the picture at all. Not even an elbow, and no other food. When there is a large gathering (like she claims they had), there is usually a lot of other food there.

In the pool pic there is just Aaden and Joel. Where are all the other guests? Nobody else is in the pool or even standing nearby. The picture could have been taken anytime. Plus--we were in the area that day for a family gathering. It was cool and rather dreary on the 4th. Definitely not pool weather. But in that picture, it looked warm and sunny.

The fireworks picture was in the dark, with kids facing away. That could have been one taken last year that had not been posted on twitter. In last year's pictures, you could see the other people in the background. This year--nobody.I think she threw together some random pictures, added a fireworks shot she didn't use last year, and posted them to make it look like the kids were home when they weren't.

*****
One of my sisters passed away late last year from complications due to MS. She and her husband had 4 children, all of whom are in their mid to late 20's at this point. All of them took her death hard and will miss their mother terribly. At her service, they had a lovely photo montage and I cannot tell you how many were photos of my sister, sitting on the floor surrounded by her children. Those moments were favorites of both my sister and her children and to see photo after photo, as the years went by, of her surrounded by her children, made us all smile and cry at the same time.

Even at 17, my son will still plop down on the couch next to me -- of course, he squishes me and tries to aggravate me, but I know it's his way of showing affection without appearing to show affection. Big goof!

I just don't think Kate has maternal feelings. She's more concerned with the visual she presents to the world. That's why she freaked out at Disneyland when the kids got some ice cream on their clothes. That's why she yelled at them for rolling down a grassy hill. For Kate, it always seems to be about the surface, and maybe that's because she doesn't have anything of substance underneath her own surface. She really should not have had any children, but I guess she could think of no other plan that would bring her fame and a tv show.

Well, if Jon had 7 kids with him in Atlantic City over the 4th, I hope Collin was part of the group. It's entirely possible that Maddy or Cara might have chosen not to go with Jon that week-end, especially if they had plans with one of their friends.

mscatie said...

Mom of 4, was this ON the 4th? If your sister saw Jon & kids only at the pool & not at fireworks is it possible Jon's visitation ended prior to the evening of the 4th and the kids arrived home in time to watch fireworks there?

Also I wonder if it was only the 6 younger kids with Jon plus a friend (the girl with the blonde ponytail in Kate's pic?) or perhaps a child that belonged to Jon's friend.

fidosmommy said...

I think it's very reasonable for conferences to be held on the 4th of July weekend. For many families it's not celebrated by much more than a cookout and a fireworks display. In this case the spouse and kids get invited along for a vacation, and when the conference is over, the vacation can continue on if they want or they can go home. I think it would be GREAT to celebrate July 4th on the coast in a city that knew how to do it very well. OVER THE OCEAN, no less! Wow.

Now, how can I become a dentist........

Formerly Duped (#59), I think you're right about the
Christmas tree picking. Thank you! And her weird phrasing
just made it sound even more like the kids were nothing
but props.

And no matter what chaotic mess we'd just viewed, there
TFW would be during the couch interview, grinning like a
chimp and saying it was a wonderful day "filled with
memories." I think I've finally identified her talent --
rewriting history.

There's no telling what's really going on with the plan for Colin. Kate's spiel was quite nuanced with lots of obfuscated language. I would assume whatever plan for Colin's schooling was ironed out when she was told to enroll him elsewhere.

Any film can be edited and manipulated to show whatever story the producers want and plan.
In this story the scientist interviewed talks about the producer with him, at one point suggests the scientist let's a young shark bite him on outpost, "it would make it more exciting". The footage was edited to supposedly show the scientist believed a voodoo shark legend, which he does not. The scientist felt quite betrayed.

Derick, 26, said in a blog post Sunday that he and Jill will not say where they are going 'for security purposes.'

He added that the 19 Kids And Counting stars will not be 'publicly discussing specific times and places of international service.'

...
'For security reasons, Jill and Derick would like to keep the details of their journey confidential for the time being.'

They'll keep it quiet for now. Until TLC gets filming arranged. Then publicity will be just fine.

Sounds like TFW when she has to fly under the radar for security purposes.

Regarding Derrick and Jill, since I don't know where they are going, I'll reserve my concern about taking a newborn to a possibly dangerous place where he could be infected with whatever he hasn't been vaccinated against. I say as long as they aren't being filmed and they are truly going to do missionary work...good for them. If I was her, I'd want to be as far away from her family as I could and Derrick should feel that way too. Hopefully this will give her time to heal and grow as a person and a mom.

Wow, I'm so sorry. It's very hard to lose a parent at that age, when they won't see you get married or have kids of your own.
She sounds like she really enjoyed her children and showed her love on their terms (and level!).
Kate's never been affectionate with the kids. She's tried, but it comes off as awkward and forced. The children seem stiff with her, as if they don't know quite how to react, like they've got to think about it.
The kids used to just cling to Jon and I'll bet they still do.

I love that they get to go to fun places with him and just chill.

I don't think Collin would be sent off in the summer? Unless he has very serious problems let's hope at the worst, it's boarding school in the fall, and for the best, is in Jon's custody . I wonder though if he was missing from the July 4 group or another child?

Agree. We'll have to wait and see how it plays out.

The Duggars seem to be very hooked on the worldly temptations of fame and fortune.

There's also the factor of being unavailable for a deposition. The further away the better sort of thing.

I've been thinking about the Collin situation. Kate said he had "educational and social problems". IMO, his "difficulties" stem from his being afraid of not giving the right answer or acting appropriately in any given situation.

He wants to please his mother so much, but she shuts him down whenever he tries to voice an opinion or ask a question. I still remember the episode where he was afraid to drive over the hose. He kept trying to get Kate's attention and ask if it was okay, but she slammed the door in his face.

He got chastised on national TV for calling his sister's hair "ugly".
After that incident, why would he even want to let his opinion be known?

I think he's internalized so much. I can see him having conflict in a school environment, because he is afraid to give the wrong answer or do the wrong thing. In social situations, he's afraid to act like himself because he's not sure that "mommy" would approve.

When he tried to make his birthday present about Kate and himself, again his mother did not get it. Is it any surprise, that he can't figure out what's the right thing to do?

IMO, Collin thinks he is in a place where he's "damned if he does, and damned if he doesn't". He's learned that the best thing is to stay silent, whether in school, social environments, etc. He can't get into trouble if he stays silent. He has found a "coping mechanism" that works for him.

Unfortunately, his mother doesn't understand (and won't admit)that she is part of the problem.

I just hope that Kate will finally have a light bulb moment and think "maybe I escalated this problem" and she will also get counseling on how to deal with it.

Anyway, that's my opinion.

He's just shut down because it's the only way he knows how to survive.

Mom of 4 I hope it's true that Jon had the kids for the holiday weekend. On his Facebook page he was working in Wyomissing on July 3 but I understand that's not far from AC.

It depends how far is "not far." It's about a two and a half hour drive, longer with holiday traffic.

KIAT (#86), can you imagine the poor specialists who have
to deal with TFW regarding this matter? But I bet her typical double-talk and half-truths (or as a confused Ellen Degeneres
described it, "speaking in code") won't fly with any expert.
I couldn't believe it when I heard she had to ask J if he liked basketball. That was a huge sign to me that she does not
engage with her sons.

Will TFW send a forlorn tweet to @TLC tomorrow night, saying
she wishes there was another episode for her to live tweet about?

What strikes me is that Kate looks like she's faking all the treacly chirping she's doing with the kids recently. It's just too over the top, like how I'd try to talk to a strange child so they'd see me as a nice person, or quell any stranger fear they might have.
It's so...forced. The side by side birthday confessionals with the kids was odd to watch.
That's just not who Kate is and it doesn't flow naturally from her.

Bill Cosby testified in 2005 that he got Quaaludes with the intent of giving them to young women he wanted to have sex with, and he admitted giving the sedative to at least one woman and "other people," according to documents obtained Monday by The Associated Press.

The AP had gone to court to compel the release of the documents; Cosby's lawyers had objected on the grounds that it would embarrass their client.

The 77-year-old comedian was testifying under oath in a lawsuit filed by a former Temple University employee. He testified he gave her three half-pills of Benadryl.

Tucker's Mom (#105), wouldn't this be the perfect time for
TFW to pull on her big girl panties and decide to co-parent
with the father of her children? During this major transition in
his life, what a gift it would be to that little boy if his parents
could manage to sit in the same room together and present
a united front for his well being.

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner just came back from a family
vacation with their kids. When they announced their divorce
last week, their statement said they would continue to move
forward in "love and friendship" to parent their children. The
only moving forward TFW does is when she metaphorically
mows Jon down with her passive-aggressive comments.

As far as Kate asking Jon his input about C's schooling, depends on what the custody papers say. But she's been known to exclude him on other stuff, so I wouldn't be surprised if she left him out of the decision making process.

KIAT I agree wholeheartedly.
Add in the trauma/abuse that he has suffered starting at a very young age, I'm amazed that he is doing as well as he is.

For example, his thoughtfulness and choice of a present for the bitch who masquerades as his mother was amazing. Stupid bitch is so wrapped up in her brood of 8, she couldn't see what an amazing gift that was. Asshat.
