The Duggar Interview: 11 things the Duggars are still hiding

InTouch has a great breakdown post-interview of the Duggar's slant on the truth.

Among the eleven things the Duggars are still hiding, says the magazine, are:

  • The Duggars waited over four years to get counseling for Josh.
  • The child services investigation reports have never been released, despite the Duggars implying they were.
  • The family likely has no leg to stand on in a lawsuit, as nothing improper was done. In fact it would have been illegal not to release the records.
  • Judge Zimmerman, who ordered the records destroyed after they were already turned over to the media, made the order without properly giving the media an opportunity to contest her order. A law professor and former U.S. attorney called the court order "odd," pointing out that usually in such a situation the records are ordered sealed, not destroyed.
Realitytvkids.com adds:
The man behind the year's biggest reality show story: David Perel.
  • The Duggars outright said that the release of the information could have been a bribe, but don't have a shred of evidence to support such a malicious contention.
  • Mike Huckabee, whom the Duggars quoted during the interview and count as a supporter, swiffered all traces of the Duggars from his web site just before the interview.
  • The judge who ordered the records destroyed was appointed twice by Duggar (former) ally Huckabee.

Check out InTouch for more.

For more reading, check out why InTouch's investigation exposing one of America's most famous conservative-religious political families was of Pulitzer caliber.  "Solid," says the editors at The Washington Post. Editor David Perel, who led the InTouch investigation, was nominated for a Pulitzer, though didn't win, in 2010 for his work on the John Edwards scandal. Nominations are typically announced in January.

Math Girl, a very old school was remodeling and they took down the blackboards that filled the school room and they found preserved blackboards from 1917. Beautifully drawn pictures, in color, math problems, sentences, all kinds of things. It is stunning.

There was a math wheel on there to do simple math. Was wondering if you would look at it and check it out. THANK YOU in advance Math Girl and THANK you too Anon/Leslie for checking the blackboards out.

They wish they had 19 or 8 kids, have a large house, lots of money, a pool, travel and be on TV. That is why they follow them, wishful life style.

I would not want to be either. Kids are a lot of work, and the more you have the more work there is, besides patience, love etc, having/finding enough money to raise them. My main reason for watching both shows, was to see how they do raise 8 or 19 kids, and work, out side the home, be able to cope. Not this BS of a trip, almost every episode, so we can see how they react, a construction,or a move to a bigger house, screaming/fighting/entitled kids, and the parents who think this is how everyone else lives. And it is not! I would say at least 85% of everyone out there works, saves up for construction, trips(one a year, not 4-5), their kids are mannered. Yes, the Duggars kids are mannered to a point, but then they are extreme cult like religious brought up. Kate lets her kids fight etc, and uses them to make money, thus she does not have to get a real job.

I do think Deanna is around Kates age. I looked her up, and there is only 1 Deanna in NYC, NY and she is 39. I also looked at her tweets, & blg and she says that she has been in the make artist business for 15 years in 2012. So if she is 28 as you guys think she might be then -18 years that would mean she started in the makeup artist business when she 10? If she is this 39 year old woman, then 39-18, is 21. And her birthday is around September 25.

I really did hang out on Veranda today. A friend of mine is moving to the area and is looking for a new home. She found a place that she likes, and lo and behold, the little community is called "The Veranda." I had to laugh when we pulled in. I'm didn't see any crocs or muumuus, and I seriously doubt that they allow rumspringa parties on the patio, but I did have to chuckle when I saw the name!

Glad to hear that everything is going as expected. Sometimes, though, the best laid plans of mice and men don't work out as we imagine, and we may lose a spouse. Children grow up, but "our time" may turn out to be "my time."

One has dreams of the future when the last child leaves home, but many times those dreams can be shattered in the blink of an eye and one may wish that more time would have been set aside for the spouse. You just never know.

So true. Those "missed times" are ones that you can never get back again.

This reminds me of a Professor Harold Hill quote from The Music Man. "You pile up enough tomorrows, and you'll find you are left with nothing but a lot of empty yesterdays. I don't know about you, but I'd like to make today worth remembering. "

Just something to chew on. Time to pass the keg...

What is the demographics of the sheeple? I know that there are some on there (really slow ones, mentally and emotionally) who are in their sixties. One of them tweeted that she will be celebrating her 60th birthday. I haven't yet figured out of the older adults really do want to live through Kate and are jealous. I don't think that's the answer.

It would seem that the younger ones might want to do this, and mothers with young children, but not someone in her sixties. What is puzzling is the excitement over these specials, the gushing that they can't wait to see the shows. What adult in her fifties, sixties or older are so enamored by 11 year old kids and young teens? It just seems to me to be really "off" in the sense that these adults are still excited to see kids paraded around like they're in a circus act, trotted out for the amusement of others.

I don't know. Maybe these fans don't have a family, or grandchildren, and the next best thing is gawking at someone else's children. It just seems really odd to me.

Since a show can be cancelled at any time, why would a morals clause be necessary?

I think it's just cleaner. Likely a lawyer suggested it to cover all their bases. I agree with you, it's not necessary, but a lot of things in contracts aren't really necessary and are for just in case scenarios.

There is no right to be on a reality show and almost all entertainment contracts allow them to cancel you whenever they want, be it after one episode, 13 episodes, or 100.

A famous story I've told a few times is that the rather popular show my narcissist was top billing on was eventually cancelled as is what happens to shows, and no one from the network even bothered to inform the cast. It seems like a courtesy call would be nice to those who had devoted several years to making that show the best it could be, at least to your headliners, but nothing in the contract required it. They heard it on the news. It was sudden and harsh.

That press release about the Duggars pulling out of their

allow yourselves to be painted as victims after your own
child attacked his own siblings in their own home, and
you neglected to take proper steps to keep that behavior
from recurring.

I can't believe the audacity they have, or I can.

They really are a piece of work to blame this on the public. More than likely the church doesn't WANT them. Not, it's too unsafe to go out in public. Gimme a break. I doubt anyone wants to harm them, and if they did, it's nothing the cops can't handle. The public just wants them to go away willingly, this isn't rocket science. They have some nerve.

I'm starting to buy the theories others have suggested that they are putting it on the back burner and let it cool down, and hope that in five or six month's time people will have forgotten about it and they can quietly sneak it back onto their schedule.

They must be dreaming. They seriously imagine in 6 months it will be back to where it was before, dominating their lineup like it often did?

It's not just TLC that has decided that silence is golden when it comes to the controversy. Several media buyers also declined to comment on the record, though one noted that no clients had yet asked to pull advertising from any current TLC shows.

Even those who question TLC's silent treatment admit that the network is likely to emerge unscathed. "I don't think it will have a long-term effect on the brand," said Smith. Added Brad Adgate, svp of research at Horizon Media: "There's always a constant flow of these types of incidents. There will be something else in the next six months or year that will get attention." So far, audiences are staying put. Since TLC pulled 19 Kids, the network's average prime-time ratings have actually gone up.

What numbers are they talking about? Someone posted Little Couple's numbers from last week and they were some of the lowest the show has ever gotten. People are clearly boycotting the whole network.

2012 episodes of Hoarding Buried Alive are getting better ratings than brand new episodes of the Duggars aired three weeks ago? Wow, hard to believe.

I'd read someplace that one of the 'incidents' was at a sleep over camp. (Sorry, by now I don't have the link. Whoever was talking about it, the post was dated from several years ago, so it's not like the person was piggy backing on the latest publicity.)

A sleep away camp. With a whole bunch of sleeping girls.

I am firmly convinced that their are other young victims. Victims that were told that they remembered nothing, they were asleep when it happened, they drwamt it, it wasn't that bad, it was only for a few seconds, it's their duty to serve.

Interesting that the Duggars imply that all the incidents were in their home. Thus implying that the only girls at risk were their own daughters and one other girl.

Notice that Megyn didn't ask the question, "Were all of these incidents in your home?"

Megyn was remarkably uncurious.

Hmmm. I didn't even click on it. She would spill Jessa's secret, but not Josh's secrets. Wow, that lawsuit from that inmate. The claim sounded legitimate until the mentioning of all of the other claims that JD had done who were victims of crimes that JD couldn't of possibly been involved in.

I would love to read a statement like this from TLC:

"Here's the deal, America. We love money. That's the whole
reason we make shows: so people will watch them, and line
our pockets. We can pretend until the cows come home that
we care about the people whose lives we portray, but, dude,
we really don't. We care about money. And since y'all
have been talking about this family, we know bloody well
y'all are going to watch a spinoff if we make it. Why risk
trying to make new programming that you may not be
interested in? Leave that to Netflix and Amazon -- they
seem to like to take risks. Not us, bro -- it's "tried and true"
all the way.

So integrity, shmintegrity...our kids need braces and private
school tuition doesn't pay for itself. Will you at least give
us points for honesty? No? Again, we don't care. We just
want you to watch our shows. Thanks!"

TLC stinks said...

I agree there are probably more incidents with Josh. No way would he stop cold turkey. The problem is if those girls were in a similar Gothard family upbringing, they will never come forward because they will have been brainwashed to think it was their fault and have forgiven Josh. Sounds like an ideal breeding ground for a pedophile, so maybe Jimboob was speaking the truth that it happens in other families.

I saw the article about Jessa sharing her sonogram on the internet. It's interesting to see how she's dressed--bare arms, revealing shirt showing curves, braided hair, makeup, pouty lips.
She looks like a sex kitten, hardly the modest dress that JB always wanted. The clothing on the rack behind her has a few sundresses with skinny shoulder straps-hardly modest!
For a family that shuns the sins of the outside world, it's funny that she has an iphone. LOL

On Saturday there was another fatal crash at almost the exact spot as the Bruce Jenner crash. This one involved a parked vehicle on the shoulder. Another car slammed into it.

On another note, families are complaining because they have left memorials there to various victims over the years and the city takes them down.

Thanks!"

Did Michelle really say that? LOL
that's funny, sure doesn't agree with Gothard principles. LOL It's amazing how being on a tv show has changed this family's life--now they are plugged into mainstream media, make mainstream media talk show appearances, have phones with data packages, wear revealing clothing and makeup; show skin above the knee and bare arms.

It's really funny that by sharing their family life so the outside world can peer in, the main thing that happened is that they are now LIKE the outside world.
hahhaa!
If JB hadn't put his family on tv, his Gothard principles would have been handed down a generation. Instead, his kids appear to be embracing the 21st century customs. I'm glad they are, hopefully they will have a normal life. :)

Yeah, Michelle really said that. It was one one of the most recent shows - maybe a wedding episode? How else would she be able to explain away the use of painted women tools?

There is a family group photo that shows Anna sitting on the couch with her knees in full view. Josh must have approved that outfit, even if she was wearing it in Jim Bob's house. The Duggar girls still don't expose their knees or shoulders, but necklines have lowered and their outfits don't even pretend to be shapeless. Gothard males are supposed to wear collared shirts (why I don't know, but it's probably some wild interpretation of a sentence in scripture) but they have been wearing regular tee shirts too. Are they all a bunch of heathens now? :)

On Sunday, the family shared more personal snapshots of the “19 Kids and Counting” star, this time spending quality time with six of her younger siblings. “What fun we can have in one day!” Jim Bob and Michelle posted to Facebook along with several images of their daughters Johannah, 9; Jennifer, 7; Jordyn-Grace, 6; Josie, 5; and Jana having a tea party. Two other photos showed their sons Jackson, 11, and Justin, 12, playing outdoors. “Formal high tea party and a great creature hunt (Turtles and crawdads found!) What a perfectly wonderful Saturday spent with these kiddos!” read the photo gallery caption.

Jana, who unlike her sisters Jill, 24, and Jessa, 22, is not married and reportedly has refused to enter into a courtship, is frequently photographed with her younger brothers and sisters and is said to spend a majority of her spare time helping out at her parent’s Arkansas abode. While she is a student midwife, she was rumored to be leaving her family's reality show in March to pursue an education at a Christian college. Jana has yet to comment on the reports, saying only that her family’s long-running reality series was “special” in an interview with People in April.

True. But her husband will be the headline of so many web posts that you can't count them all, and the lead-in topic of almost every news show in the US, talking about how he molested his sisters.

And if I was her, I'd be very worried about where he is and who he's molesting now.

What really bothers me about JB and Michelle is that they both apparently had normal upbringings...public school, regular clothing and friends, etc. They had a very affectionate dating relationship, as the internet photos show.
But after they marry and have kids, those kids have to live a doctrine the parents clearly didn't. Very unreal expectations. These girls went from prairie dresses with peter-pan collars to modern dress in about 2 yrs. I remember Michelle saying that they dress to make the face the focal point not the body. Yes, the Duggar girls do dress in tight clothes. Jessa'a husband, wears shorts, and tight t-shirts. That's not very Gothard. According to JimBob, in one episode, in which they took part in a 5k race, the boys & Jimbob wore, t-shirts, under polo shirts and long pants to run in. And it was hot out. I think that one of the boys did wear shorts. It was frowned upon. Just like when they go swimming, they wear, a modest suite, which look like a scooba suite with a skirt over it. Long as only you lower legs show it's OK. That is a switch from Michelle wearing a bikini to cut grass. Very twisted.

"My beloved is to me a sachet of myrrh resting between my breasts"

"How handsome you are, my beloved! Oh, how charming! And our bed is verdant"

"Let us go early to the vineyards to see if the vines have budded, if their blossoms have opened, and if the pomegranates are in bloom – there I will give you my love."

Apparently those pomegranates have been in bloom for more than just one season.

She ought to have childhood, school, church, work friends...friends from other acquaintances, friends from PTA, other churches, etc,....and dang, she ought to have friends from UPS, the salon, consignment store, Kinko's.... (lol)..
From her 40 yrs of PA living, she has ZERO friends. She has one friend, her makeup artist.
wow.

--About Michelle, yes, I know that she and JB joined the Gothard (and thanks to the poster that called him " GOT HARD", I now read his name that way, snort), but it seems a far stretch that the parents had their wild teenage days and relationships and now expect their kids to live this purity thing.
Here's an idea, let JB and Michelle try it for a week and see how they like it. I bet he'd be locking himself in the bathroom after a month. haha....I wonder if Michelle would shame him by shaving his head? what would he do with his cases of hairspray??

And yes, those girls have officially gone mainstream in their dress. You'd never guess they were Gothard-raised by the clothing, shoes, makeup, hair and jewelry they wear.
Just own it, JB. the money is too sweet to turn down, isn't it?

I read this on the Duggar Family Blog Q & A and went to the website that sells these monstrosities. I don't think they'd qualify for Speedo Olympic swimsuits.

Where do the Duggars purchase their swimwear?

A: If you have watched the show, you have probably noticed the Duggars splashing around in a friend's pool or zipping down a homemade slip n' slide. Or perhaps you watched them experience the Dead Sea during their recent Israel expedition. Duggar swimwear consists of wetsuits or swim trunks and shirts for the boys and WholesomeWear for the girls.

I apologize to the Admin if this is too far of topic, but several people have asked and you are discussing the Duggars.

Razing Ruth was exposed by another forum after she had done a lot of harm, and a dedicated catfish sleuth followed up in enormous detail a couple of years ago. That was when the connection was made with Pennmommy and her other personas. Her identity is known to many but rarely published to protect her real children. If you google "Razing Ruth is a scam" a lot of information will come up.

Also for the record, Virginia Pen Mom is not and never has been PennMommy although the names are similar. Her writings on this blog show no similarity at all with Razing Ruth or the Atheist in a Minivan, etc. They have been examined for *tells* simply because of the similarities in the name. My deep sympathies to Virginia Pen Mom for choosing that particular name.

Razing Ruth/PennMommy is still active. People familiar with her writing try to warn blog and forum owners before she does too much damage. She is very clever at what she does.

If readers here want more information on Gothardism as it pertains to the Duggars, may I recommend a website called Recovering Grace, which is run by real survivors. It is a lot better than reading Ruth's fiction. I hope this is helpful.

Back to your usual Gosselin discussion now. :)

Admin, in this post, were you referring to Jamestown to the I Love Lucy episode, The Passports? Lucy needs her birth certificate in order to get her passport, but Jamestown has no record of her being born. She then gets a piece of paper for someone to sign to vouch that they knew when she was born. She almost had her babysitter sign it until her husband came home early and he was an attorney and would not let her sign it. The lady said that LUCY was HER babysitter and that LUCY pushed HER in the baby carriage. So funny, Lucy said, Who was pushing who??? The lady didn't want her husband to realize that she was years older than what she told him.

At the end, Lucy's mother was out on a road trip with friends and they happened to be in WEST Jamestown and her mother decided while she was there go to the courthouse and get an official copy of Lucy's birth certificate. By sheer luck Lucy received the birth certificate just in time to get the passports for their trip to Europe.

I was curious about Razing Ruth and the associated scam and Googled her name. Scrolled through a couple of pages of comments on what seems to be a now defunct blog and noticed some of the same names that are involved with the Gosselin stuff - ljohnson2006 from Twitter stuck out and I assume it's the same person that adores everything Kate does but loudly bashes other reality tv stars? I didn't spend a lot of time reading but it sounds like she was sucked in by "Ruth".

Loved this season's Orange Is the New Black - no spoilers!! I will say that although the ending was clever and fun, I think I liked last season's ending better. The look on Eva's face as she drove the van was priceless. Haven't watched Veep yet but Silicon Valley just gets better and better. So now …. what to watch??? I long for another Breaking Bad.

TLC plays the deflect card again. Jill Duggar tweets a picture and it makes US magazine. Same crap Kate pulls with her tweets. Didn't the Duggars just start this tweeting? TLC must have insisted.

"#bibletime with papa," the 24-year-old reality TV star captioned the peaceful Instagram picture, which showed little Israel dressed in a blue and white onesie, looking totally transfixed with his bedtime story.

I have no doubt now that TLC has not canceled their show and the idea of keeping it going is very much alive.
Under the TLC contract, you don't just put anything you want out there without it being at least tacitly approved by TLC.

I liked Jurassic World too, it was a popcorn movie. I think there were some parallels to SeaWorld and greed which I appreciated.

I made the mistake of watching the first one Jurassic Park last weekend. I forgot how absolutely perfect that film was. The acting, the script, the cat and mouse effects, the story, the THEMES. Anything else since just hasn't been as good. But I think this was one of the more enjoyable one of the franchise.

I saw San Andreas as well as was pleasantly surprised. Definitely a typical disaster movie where you have to suspend disbelief but it kept me entertained throughout.

Totally off topic, Tylenol has been airing a beautiful commercial about different kinds of families, from single parents to mixed race to gay families. I'm pretty sure Susan Sarandon narrates it as she often does these days, and she says it's not who you love, it's HOW you love.

Also the one when she baked a huge loaf of bread which pinned her to the counter; the chocolate factory; the Hollywood fashion show with the sunburn; when she got stuck across the border without her pass-a-port; gettin a charlie-horse learning to curtsy for meeting the queen,..so many! Good clean fun indeed. My kids like them too.

Admin mentioned Elizabeth Banks in Catch Me if You Can. That movie is where I first noticed her as an actress. I don't think she was the flight attendant who asked if Frank was her deadhead. I had a good chuckle of the day this morning and had to think of the veranda ladies. I stopped at a local roadside stand for some produce, and the Amish woman came out to meet me. She was wearing black Crocs. This was an Old Order Amish lady, horse and buggy Amish, bonnet, long purple dress with apron. In PA Dutch, I said to her, "I like your shoes, very nice!" She laughed and kind of pulled up her dress. She was wearing mid-calf heavy black cotton stockings with them. She said, "They are new. They hurt." Then her daughter, about five years old, ran outside and she was wearing a pair, too, and with socks. I just had to smile. I have never seen that before. Maybe they're going a bit modern, kind of like the Duggars!

Josh doesn't have the integrity and ballz to show his face in public, respond to the scandal, give an interview, or speak for himself while his mommy, daddy and 2 of his VICTIMS do, but sure enough, he'll use his kids to gain back some semblance of a positive public image.

I looked at Josh's instagram. I remember reading an article saying they were filming right before the news hit the internet.
Yep, there's the pic on his instrgram. 4 weeks ago, there's the whole family at the Duggar compound, 'on set'.

yep, the house is a 'set'. Where's the Arkansas child labor laws? these kids are 'on set'.

It will be interesting to see if the Duggar's can keep their show. I never followed this family on tv or any form of social media, so I don't know if their media posts have been amped up to counter attack the molestation scandal.
Since the molestation has come to light, I've seen sonograms, bday pics, baby pics, etc,...perhaps they were always this media happy?

They are certainly trying to save the money train, aren't they. And of course, TLC is silent. But in fairness, TLC didn't make this mess, so let the Duggars dig out of it themselves. I hope they are unsuccessful.

Millicent said...

I don't believe TLC's ratings are up since the Duggar scandal broke, but if so ---- wouldn't that mean that people are watching more because the Duggars are OFF the air? That quote sounds like PR nonsense to me. TLC is apparently staffed and supported by lying liars who think molestation within a family is just an "incident" that should be glossed over and ignored.

Because TLC is still refusing to outright cancel the show, I now think they are truly hoping this will all blow over and they can return the show to the air with some modifications. It would then truly be up to the average viewer to step up and cut TLC entirely from their tv viewing, and if they feel inclined, write to advertisers and make their view on the situation clear. The only thing the network will respond to is ratings and loss of advertisers.

Millicent said...

Just wanted to say, I've been a hit and run poster lately because my work load at the office picked up. In addition, my dad is not doing well and is in a care facility for now. We're hoping he can return home soon. His mental faculties are still fairly good, but his body is giving out and he could not stand or walk, plus has little appetite. It is so hard to see my once strong father slowly deteriorate. I would not be the person I am today without having such wonderful parents who set an amazing example for each of us on how to life life and how to treat others.

Here we go. Another crazy person may get a reality TV show. I bet this is the real reason she quit her NAACP position.

NAACP race faker Rachel Dolezal stepped down from her job Monday, but RadarOnline.com has learned she already has a new gig in the works: Dolezal is fielding multiple offers to film a reality show, and is seeking professional representation after her bombshell interview on the Today show.

Dolezal, currently in New York City after appearing on TODAY Tuesday morning, has been “offered two reality shows from different production companies,” an insider told Radar. “The offers were made last week along with several others that were just outrageous. Rachel recognizes that she is going to need an agent and a publicist, and is going to be hiring a professional team in the next few days.”

Millicent, I also think this is a "spin" by TLC's PR department. If you look at ratings posted on tvbythenumbers, TLC is absent--except for The Little Couple. If the ratings for their shows aren't high enough to even register on a raitngs reporting site, then where is this supposed "increase" hiding? Or perhaps TLC is lying to try to save face/keep advertisers.

Of course, if TLC's ratings are increasing, then of course the ratings for K+8 next week will be higher than the last few shows, too, right? And if, by some odd chance, the ratings are down, the sheep can't blame it on a TLC boycott because, according to TLC, their viewership is up, not down. Won't this be interesting to watch.

In this day in age with such easy access to the real numbers it's not good enough for them to say something like that without pointing us to the actual numbers. As the saying goes no NUMBERS no proof. I'll believe their idea that this actually boosted TLC's ratings when they show that boost.

However the numbers we have actually seen showed a dramatic shift DOWN.

Controversy and scandal continues to plague artist and activist Rachel Dolezal, who has now been accused of plagiarizing a famous J.M.W. Turner painting.

One piece, an acrylic triptych, caught the attention of eagle-eyed Twitter users Jolie Adams and Courtney Lee Adams, Jr., who pointed out that the second panel, titled The Shape of Our Kind, bears a striking resemblance to Turner's 1840 painting Slave Ship (Slavers Throwing Overboard the Dead and Dying, Typhoon Coming On).

Dolezal recently resigned from her post as president of the Spokane chapter of the NAACP, after a local news story emerged that questioned her racial background (see Artist Rachel Dolezal Who Lied About Being Black Defends Her Art on the Today Show).

On her blog, which has not been updated since 2012, Dolezal, who describes herself as "an award-winning mixed media artist with over 20 exhibitions in 13 states," shares images of her artwork, which includes paintings and sculptures.

Sources say that the Duggars make between $25,000 and $45,000 per episode of 19 Kids And Counting. And that doesn’t include the money they earn through outside ventures like speaking engagements. It all adds up to an estimated $3.5 million net worth.

However it’s clear that fewer people want to hear the Duggars speak now or buy their products. And the Duggars’ net worth will take a huge hit if TLC cancels 19 Kids And Counting. So a Duggar spinoff has become vital for Jim Bob, Michelle and TLC.

That strikes me as an absolutely over the top incredible narcissistic statement.

Does she not understand that like four people in the entire world care that she's 40. Hopefully most of those four are family and friends.

Even her own sheeple can't keep up.

She's like a 12 year old, I'm 12 today I'm 12!!! At a certain age you grow up and stop behaving like a child about birthdays.

I can't find the post now, but I also called it last week saying that Josh is hiding out at his parent's house. Isn't there a guesthouse on the property?

Poor Anna. She's really trapped now if they're living with the etended family. Watch for some documentation of her labor/the new daughter's birth on Facebook or Instagram.

Dmasy, I know how you feel. I feel the same about the Andy Griffith show. Lines, trivia.

No, I can't believe you're 40 either.

You look much, much older.

MamaC - It's a regional thing with the pronounciation of certain words. I'm from Jersey and pronounce "our" as "are or R". As an Army wife I've been out of Jersey for too many years to count and I still pronounce it the same way.

And I still say they won't cancel the Duggars. Too much time has passed for that decision, imo.

Yep, if they haven't by now they're not going to. It's a long and winding train that's derailing and TLC wants to be there to film it because there's gonna be a lot of gawkers who want to watch it flying off the tracks. Thankfully the only time I've invested in this sideshow has been the recent discussions on the veranda, which means I still won't watch WHEN the assholes at TLC are finished with their time-out punishment.

OT, our city was hit with a massive storm this past weekend that downed huge trees and knocked out power lines and feeders for a couple of days. Thankfully no injuries were reported but the mess it left behind is incredible. Mother Nature is harsh when she wants to be. We are in the midst of huge clean-up.

And I'm ashamed and embarrassed to say I wasn't prepared for a long power outage. Not near enough rumspringa on hand. I'll have to put a still in the basement so it never happens again...

I almost puked! On Monday June 22, they are having a 3 hour Kate plus 8: A Decade of Kate!
-----
A decade of Kate is exactly 10 years too much of Kate.

Apparently the acting coach had even less success with Kate as Tony did with the dancing lessons.

Yep, ya did.

Can someone please ask the Duggars if Josh has had a RECENT professional medical evaluation and a professional, licensed expert has cleared him to be around little children?

Josie and her other little sisters are completely defenseless and innocent. I rarely think much about the people I see on TV once I change the channel, with the exception of keeping this fine veranda running, but I am sitting here truly in the pit of my stomach worried about the little girls in that house. He need only be with them alone for a minute behind a closed door for the unthinkable to happen. I do NOT trust the Duggars to protect them, period.

Someone was helping her with the couch interviews and public appearances, for what good it did. I think that's mostly all gone now. I bet the acting coach got chopped.

It's the darn voice that's so grating on the nerves. When she says something like, "Why did I think this was a good IDEA?" it's like nails on a blackboard.

Milo most likely thinks it's sweet music to her ears. UGH.

teehee!
Flimsy that comment just reminded me of the Franki Valli and the Four Seasons song that's made for Gladys to Kate --

My eyes adored you
Though I never laid a hand on you
My eyes adored you
Like a million miles away
From me you couldn't see
How I adored you
So close, so close
And yet so far away

I was just reading the mags at the checkout counter. In Touch has a big cover story on the Duggars, as expected. OK had a cover blurb and a 2-page story about how the Duggars get things (everything) for free.

I wish I knew why Kate pronounces the word "our" as "r"?

&&&&&&&&&&&&

I do it, too. We were raised in the same area. If you grow up with it, it's really hard to change.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

I've been around a lot of PA accents and I've never heard one as exaggerated as hers is. It's grating and over the top. It would be akin to everyone in the south talking like Paula Dean. That's not what it's really like. Yes down there I do hear "woot-er" for water and "R" for "our" but it's much more subtle and you don't hear it without really paying attention.

It's amazing to me she is so tone deaf she can't hear how she sounds when she talks to, say, some of her CA or NY friends. I cannot believe she can't hear herself. The children don't speak like she does, which is telling. A part of me also wonders if she does it deliberately, sort of to show off. Like how a 14 year discovers for the first time they have an accent and becomes proud of it in a juvenile way.

That grating accent! Ugh! Listening to her on Celebrity Apprentice was like listening to some country bumpkin. If she didn't believe she was so perfect, she would have worked on fixing that. What a rube.

It's funny how even within the same state, pronunciations can vary so widely. I'm from South Jersey, and no one I know pronounces "our" as "are". Are you from the North Country, NJGal? Do you remember years ago when people were seriously debating about separating Jersey into two states?

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

An example I think of is Leeza Gibbons. She's from South Carolina, but she doesn't sound like Honey Boo Boo, from next door Georgia. Her accent is very subtle and gentle, and you can still hear it if you listen carefully, but without being distracted by it.

You don't have to give up your roots to be on TV, but to hang onto it so fiercely that your accent becomes distracting, is sloppy and lazy. Much like anything, Kate is unable to put herself in the shoes of a viewer, especially one not from there. The fact that she claimed to want to do voice overs makes me just shake my head. She's clueless.
