InTouch has a great breakdown post-interview of the Duggar's slant on the truth.
Among the eleven things the Duggars are still hiding, says the magazine, are:
- The Duggars waited over four years to get counseling for Josh.
- The child services investigation reports have never been released, despite the Duggars implying they were.
- The family likely has no leg to stand on in a lawsuit, as nothing improper was done. In fact it would have been illegal not to release the records.
- Judge Zimmerman, who ordered the records destroyed after they were already turned over to the media, made the order without properly giving the media an opportunity to contest her order. A law professor and former U.S. attorney called the court order "odd," pointing out that usually in such a situation the records are ordered sealed, not destroyed.
Realitytvkids.com adds:
The man behind the year's biggest reality show story: David Perel. |
- The Duggars outright said that the release of the information could have been a bribe, but don't have a shred of evidence to support such a malicious contention.
- Mike Huckabee, whom the Duggars quoted during the interview and count as a supporter, swiffered all traces of the Duggars from his web site just before the interview.
- The judge who ordered the records destroyed was appointed twice by Duggar (former) ally Huckabee.

For more reading, check out why InTouch's investigation exposing one of America's most famous conservative-religious political families was of Pulitzer caliber. "Solid," says the editors at The Washington Post. Editor David Perel, who led the InTouch investigation, was nominated for a Pulitzer, though didn't win, in 2010 for his work on the John Edwards scandal. Nominations are typically announced in January.

Thanks Admin and Sleepless for explaining the reasons behind Josh possibly being arrested. As David Perel said, there's more to come.
A little OT, but is it possible that the house Josh and Anna 'bought' is actually one of JimBoob's? Maybe he signed a quitclaim deed and they were able to avoid the issue of back taxes that way?
I'm sorry, redbird, but I'm not following this. Why would Jim Bob be arrested? If there are other offenses that fall within the SOL, after Josh because an adult, Jim Bob wouldn't be responsible for what his son did, especially if it had nothing to do within the Duggar home or with his own sisters.

The only charge I can think of for him is child endangerment. It's very rare to charge a parent with that when someone else molested their child but I've seen it happen at least 3 times. However, the incidents were so severe they would shock the conscience.
As a hypothetical, let's say a mother locked her daughter in the room with the child's stepfather knowing full well she's going to be raped. Although they won't charge her with the rape itself they'll get her on child endangerment.
This is all assuming the SOL hasn't run. This family IS like a lot of other families I've seen in that they kinda-sorta tried to help but it wasn't what the family really needed, it was too little too late, and they still don't quite "get" it. The sad thing is many of these families are usually poor and severely uneducated and there are cultural barriers and language barriers. What's their excuse?
The Duggers were given advanced warning about the release. It is not common practice, the city went out of its way to keep the family informed. The Duggers are just hoping that their don't actually read the statements released.
Another article, which has the mayor's full statement posted within the article:
http://5newsonline.com/2015/06/08/no-misconduct-by-police-chief-springdale-mayor-says-about-release-of-duggar-incident-report/
Here's the mayor's statement:
The City will not dignify suggestions of misconduct in this matter by Chief O’Kelley with any comment beyond labeling them as outrageous and categorically false. Chief O’Kelley is a dedicated public servant whose career in law enforcement has been committed to duty and the adherence to the law.
With respect to the release of records pursuant to the requirements of the Arkansas Freedom of Information Act(FOIA), the facts are these:
•The City complied with each and every requirement of the FOIA with respect to the request for records.
•Upon notification of the request for information pursuant to the FOIA request, the Chief of Police referred the matter to the Springdale City Attorney for an opinion as to whether the requested records were subject to public disclosure under the FOIA. As part of due diligence and in order to thoroughly analyze the request, the City also contacted the Arkansas Municipal League, the Arkansas State Police, the Washington County Juvenile Prosecuting Attorney within the Washington County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, and made unsuccessful attempts to contact appropriate officials within the Arkansas Department of Human Services.
•Out of courtesy with respect to the release of information in potentially sensitive situations, the Police Chief directed the family be notified of the FOIA request. The Police Chief further directed that the family be kept regularly informed as to the status of the request; the City’s analysis of the request and any action the City would take with respect to the request, including notification to the family that the City had an obligation under the FOIA law to release the redacted report.
•Subsequently and consistent with and pursuant to advice of legal counsel, the City Attorney determined that the record– after thorough redaction– was subject to release under the FOIA.
•Prior to release, the record went through several rounds of review that included redaction of the names of minors and all potentially identifying pronouns.
•The Springdale Police Department files in this case are not part of juvenile proceedings, had not been sealed or expunged, and at the time the report was filed the person listed in the report was an adult, not a juvenile.
In 2014, the Chief indicated to the Mayor her intent to retire in 2015. In a letter to the Mayor on May 6, 2015, she formally notified the Mayor that she would be retiring as Chief of Police on June 30, 2015. With respect to the Police Chief’s reference to “unfinished business” cited in her retirement letter, those issues relate to issues of Departmental structure, organization and leadership succession planning and were no in reference to any case specific, including this one. Any suggestion or assertion otherwise is patently false.

Go Mayor Sprouse! And you forgot to add, LIBELOUS.
The only charge I can think of for him is child endangerment. It's very rare to charge a parent with that when someone else molested their child but I've seen it happen at least 3 times. However, the incidents were so severe they would shock the conscience.
----------------------
I was thinking about that possibility, too. However, I don't find it likely that Jim Bob would have offered the babysitting services of his son to a family friend or neighbor, especially when he knew that Josh has a history of sexual assault. JB is dumb, but he's not that reckless.
It would not surprise me in the least that Joshie has other "secrets" that he's hiding and that's why his mouth has been super glued, either by his parents or his attorney, or TLC or all of them. The guy is a shifty creep.
Go Mayor Sprouse! And you forgot to add, LIBELOUS.
----------------------
I just can't keep up with all of this! Are you talking about the potentially slanderous statement Jim Boob made about the bribe?
In other news, the Kate plus 8 FB page updated their cover photo. It now says "Two new specials--June 23 & June 30. 10/9c"
https://www.facebook.com/KatePlusEight/photos/a.10150732447450678.391957.33660480677/10152956753565678/?type=1
So I'm assuming that the episode they filmed this weekend will be the one aired on June 30.
Wow, just wow. It would appear that the Springdale Police are putting/already have put their ducks in a row. I would say Josh will be arrested sooner rather than later. Will he go quietly or will we see a repeat of the Jim Baker arrest? Deity help him if CPS has done an investigation and found he has abused any of his children.
I was reading on a blog from 2009 (sorry, missed getting the link) that a rumor was that some time earlier Josh had molested a girl, supposedly one of his sisters, at a sleep away camp. And that was one of the causes of his break up with the Holt girl.
Sounds like locking the Duggar girls in their bedroom at home wasn't all that effective since he just found other places to molest them.
The Duggars made some offhanded comment in their interview about a remark the chief of police had made that before she retired she had some unfinished business. The mayor explained that comment had absolutely nothing to do with the Duggars and that it was about some internal structure thing they were talking about switching up and about her successor.
JimBoob basically implied she was out to get them as her final swan song. Disgusting slanderous comment without any basis. They call themselves Christians? They will grasp at ANYTHING to discredit those who exposed them.
Take that, Fox "news"!
And where is Josh? I watched The Talk this afternoon and Julie Chen brought that up. Why are the parents and sisters speaking for Josh? Why can't he speak for himself?
Franky, did you or aunty Ann happen to see him under the verandah anywhere? I'm starting to think daddy duggar dug a hole for him somewhere and made Josh go sit in it to do more penance.

Will he go quietly or will we see a repeat of the Jim Baker arrest? Deity help him if CPS has done an investigation and found he has abused any of his children.
&&&&
It's not so smart of an idea for them to make snide and downright malicious comments about the police department when they're the ones who hold Josh's very future in their hands. I'd be playing nice-nice let's make a deal if I were them. They really are brazen.

&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&
I just made this comment, but it's showing up under Admin's comment or is she commenting on my comment?
If, God willing (real God not Duggar or Katie's God) Jon gets custody of H and TLC keeps filming the rest, what will be the reasons given for no H in the episodes? Will she be treated as dead like Jon? Will the others pretend she's there but just very quiet and invisible? At a permanent sleepover with friends?
Off the show how will she be treated by Katie? Do narcs punish kids who do things like switch custodial parents? Or do they suck up to them? Pile gifts and trips on the other kids still there and say you could have had this but you chose your dad?
I'd be playing nice-nice let's make a deal if I were them. They really are brazen.
------------
Not to mention as downright dumb as they come. I thought they had hired a PR expert to prepare them for this interview. If they did, they either didn't listen or they need to fire this person and hire someone competent.
Jim Bob needs to zip his mouth, as well as his pants.

I also did not know but read that Jim Bob blamed his election loss on Josh sinning. This was cited in, I believe, a Gawker timeline that quoted from a blogger who attended the church.
-----
It wasn't JimBob - it was former Arkansas General Assemblyman Jim Holt. The story goes like this: When Josh was 14, he was betrothed to Holt's 14 year old daughter. When Holt lost the election for US Senate, he said something along the lines of "I lost the election because there is sin in our camp" & during the "sin investigation", Josh's molestation came up. Supposedly at that point Josh was blamed for the election loss, had to confess in front of the congregation & his betrothal was broken. This is all according to a person who posted in the comments of a blog that is no longer accessible (but can be read on the Free Jinger site.) Just an FYI - the story is not first-hand info but told to the commenter by their best friend. So while it sounds pretty plausible, every detail may not be true.
"and made unsuccessful attempts to contact appropriate officials within the Arkansas Department of Human Services."

Do any of the legal eagles here see any way that this could
be used as a loophole?
My mind is turning to mush on this issue. Can someone remind me why a police report was filed when Josh was 18, 3-4 years after the admitted offences? Was that because of the Oprah report and CPS being involved?
I hope the public isn't getting burned out on this issue. That would be a shame.
The first step to healing from sexual abuse is acknowledging that you did nothing wrong. The abuser did something and needs to be brought to justice - not just accountability, but justice. To protect the abuser and
to downplay the crime is the opposite of a healing environment.
I know this from having gone through date rape in college. I told no one because of the shame. In the early 1970s girls were grilled about what they were wearing, why they would go to XYZ place with a boy, and assumed alcohol was making her an easy, inviting target. It was assumed at the outset the girl was to blame. She must be a slut. I feel like I'm in a time machine going back to 1972.
In their own way the Duggar girls have suffered the same fate. These girls have not had the opportunity to sort this all out for themselves. No matter what their internal tapes are playing, it is all being drowned out by the tapes Mom and Dad have auto-looped into their psyches. Cover up. Do not tease or look beguiling. Do not be alone, even in the open air living room. Danger! Danger! If you don't follow these rules, you can expect boys to fall prey to their natural desires. That's how God made them, after all. Sheer animals with no hint of self control. God was in a particularly patriarchal mood when he designed that feature.
The Duggar girls need to talk about this with someone other than Mom and Pop or a Jim Bob approved Christian friend/therapist. They need to get to the bottom of their feelings and then they will be better equipped to speak out about the abuse.
I think they got sold up the river by their ridiculous parents. More than once.
I don't see any evidence that Josh may be arrested. None. I've looked at the last 100 comments in the prior posting and didn't see it, and don't see it in this explanation either. There isn't any evidence that I see that protective services or police are currently looking at Josh for molesting his own children at this time.
I think a spin off of the daughters would be unbearable because they are so boring. I never understood how they got such good rating for the interminable Jill and Jessa courtships and weddings. Dreadful stuff IMO.
Oh no. Did poor Katie not have her Stevie poo to protect her this past week? What if it's true TLC bought incriminating photos of Kate and Steve and then fired him from "guarding" her any longer? The timing works since supposedly the photos were shot in Mexico and they were in Cancun during her birthday. Maybe TLC is responsible for those pap photos of Kate and Jeff Millionaire so the talk about Steve would die down? I just can't help myself. TLC is the devil.

You know they've got lot to hide and a lot to lose when JB and Michelle chose to go on the offensive and attack.
You don't screw with people's jobs and careers like that.
It'a cavalier and reckless to jeopardize someone else's job, career and reputation when you have zero proof.
You can't just bandy about allegations like that.
I thought that was reprehensible and desperate.
I'm glad the mayor is responding and calling the Duggars out their false allegations.
JB and Michelle would take heed and not press this strategy again.
They could get sued and would deserve it.
I can't recall if Megyn followed up with clarifying questions when JB dropped that bomb.

The Duggar parents are cornered rats. Cornered rats never play nice-nice. Josh isn't the only one who should be advised to keep his mouth shut. I actually feel that this issue would have faded long before now if the parents and those girls hadn't done the interviews. Arrogant. Nah. Steve was guarding Kate at Penn's Landing, TLC's Block Party.

The decision will likely come down to sponsor dollars, but there are still some options on the table, said Los Angeles-based entertainment attorney Julian Chan.
“It would either be possible to edit [Josh] out of the show or perhaps even have the show investigate the claims in the interest of ‘justice,’ as I imagine some people might be very interested in that.” Chan said.
Some industry experts say the program and any spinoffs – there have been reports that TLC was planning a show featuring Jill Duggar and her husband, Derick Dillard, and Jessa Duggar and her husband, Ben Seewald – could find a home on a faith-driven network or platform.
“If a faith-based organization feels that the Duggars have been wrongfully shunned, they might well be willing to give them an opportunity,” branding expert Jeetendr Sehdev, a professor of marketing at USC, told FOX411. “Media audiences are increasingly fragmented, and there could be a non-mainstream outlet that is willing to engage with them.”
But advertisers “will think twice” before supporting a spin-off, he added.
“It has less to do with the social media backlash and more to do with the serious nature of the molestation revelations and whether the scenarios could have been prevented that really has America rethinking the Duggar appeal,” he said.
Megyn is still carrying on about the Duggars. I think Megyn's just upset she could not convince America the Duggars were the fine, upstanding, Christian family they claim to be.
Megyn seems to have issues recognizing the truth. Makes you wonder if she's in some strong denial herself. She seems to have identified rather strongly with her subjects.

By that thinking, HBB should get a show, too.
Is losing your reality tv show (which has brought you millions, fame and perks) really the same as being "shunned"?
Really?
I don't get what the big deal is. Why are these people deserving of pity for losing a lifestyle they did nothing to earn anyway?
It's not like they're being given a disease, a brain injury or amputations. They are fully equipped to make their way in the world post TLC reality show. No one is being ordered to shun them.
At what point did they inherit the right to a lucrative reality television show in perpetuity?
It's like the Duggars are being stripped of their Constitutional rights!

If some faith based network did pick up the Dillard-Seewald Show, would't the Duggars be taking their ministry to people who are already brainwashed, er, I mean believers? The Duggars have said this whole show is a ministry to those who might be led to God. This idea shows me that ministry is the least of their intent. Preach it to the choir, ya'll!
If would have been nice if Megyn followed up their statement about unfinished business with, what makes you think that comment was about you? I mean surely the chief of police has her hand in a lot of pots, isn't it possible that could have easily been a comment about some other thing going on, and not malicious at all? (Which, it was.)
It was very good of the mayor to defend his chief of police. She has served her community for a very long time and it's completely bogus that she is retiring in three weeks with these disgusting people sullying her fine reputation. Good for him standing up for her. There's a lot of corruption in government, but when there's not, somebody should stand up for the good public servants.

Exactly. This is about more than a sexual crime being committed (repeatedly). It's about a deeply-ingrained social taboo that the Duggars have intentionally hid from the public, all while forging political bids for positions of significant influence in America.

And that she couldn't get people on the train of the illegal release. She drew two or three officials out of hiding to say excuse me what we did was NOT illegal thank you very much.
I noticed in one of her latest shows she said something like well if it wasn't illegal it should have been!
So she's sort of admitting well maybe it wasn't illegal, but it should be! Ok, that's your opinion, but that's different than saying as fact it was illegal and libeling all those fine public servants who followed the law correctly to disclose this. WTF.

Ha, bingo.
Megyn seems to have issues recognizing the truth. Makes you wonder if she's in some strong denial herself. She seems to have identified rather strongly with her subjects.
&&&&
She even admitted she felt bad for them because she met them. While I appreciate she obviously has a big heart and the family's pain was very real to her, she let it interfere with her reporting. In the process of defending THEIR pain, she let go some very nasty comments about others. Does she think about how maybe it was very painful for the chief of police to be retiring accused of taking a bribe and being out to get them? But I guess because she never spoke to her, that didn't resonate with her.
I'm sorry, Megyn, but if you identify so strongly with your subjects that you are not reporting the truth, that's not being a good journalist. A good journalist can't get emotionally involved like that. This is a perfect example of WHY.

Perhaps Josh has realize that his family would do anything, even throw Josh under the bus, to save their show - which is the only reason the Duggar's took this to television.
Border collie, I agree with you. The Duggar premise is just boring, the Duggar family are boring. More boring than tfmjg. And yes, if they had refused comment, that would be better than the replay on news of interview snippets followed by commentators asking "why are the parents and sisters talking and not Josh himself?" He had no trouble speaking for himself as an employee of FRC. or was that just a script he followed and now he can't think or speak for himself?

I doubt it. I don't care how faithful you are, there are so many sex scandals going on you'd be nuts to support this one. If anything a smaller organization doesn't have the budget to fight that battle. Not worth it.
At this point it kind of sounds like TLC is stringing the Duggars along as much as they are the public. We'll get back to you, we'll be in touch. There was something about the way the Duggars answered questions about TLC that gave me the impression TLC had left them hanging and that they didn't know much more than we do.
Out of a little common courtesy to them, TLC should sit down with them and say look, the advertisers ain't gonna happen. We're dreaming. It's over. Sorry it had to end like this but no matter how much we might want to continue, the dollar aren't going to be there when it's time to splice the commercials in. That's the way it shook out.

I don't see any evidence that Josh may be arrested. None. I've looked at the last 100 comments in the prior posting and didn't see it, and don't see it in this explanation either. There isn't any evidence that I see that protective services or police are currently looking at Josh for molesting his own children at this time.
&&&&
There wouldn't be much evidence. Those things are probably going to be done very quietly and discreetly.
I think all that was said is that it's a possibility. Certainly CPS looking at his own kids is a very REAL possibility, even moreso than law enforcement which may be backed up against the SOL.
Somebody told him to keep his mouth shut, and it's probably because somebody is worried about charges. That's why I think that somebody thinks this is all still on the table for Josh, even if the chance is small. As an attorney, you don't take small chances with your client. His attorney may be worried about CPS sniffing around and taking his kids just as much as an arrest.
I find it quite ironic that Mike Huckabee appears on The Kelly File, and complains about how the media is exploiting the victims in the Duggar story.
Isn't that what Megyn did? Her show got it's two highest ratings with those two interviews.
http://www.politico.com/story/2015/06/mike-huckabee-josh-duggar-megyn-kelly-interview-118772.html
I also had to laugh when I read this part of the article:
"As a true Christian believer, Huckabee said, he has never tried to hurt or destroy anyone.
“You want to uphold truth, you want to uphold common sense, but you don’t go out there to specifically target individuals and see if you can exploit them for your own gain,” he said, adding that he has not heard much about his support of the Duggars from people on the campaign trail."
Hmm, didn't Huckabee call Beyoncé "mental poison" and criticize the Obama's for letting their daughters listen to her music?
Isn't that specifically targeting some individuals?
No wonder he and the Duggars get along. They're all hypocrites.
"and made unsuccessful attempts to contact appropriate officials within the Arkansas Department of Human Services."

Do any of the legal eagles here see any way that this could
be used as a loophole?
&&&&
No, I think they were just covering their bases and demonstrating how they reached out to multiple agencies for legal advice and got the same advice from every single one.
I assume that CPS is represented by attorneys. Here they are represented by County Counsel. You could certainly consult County Counsel as an extra person to consult, but since they had already spoken to the city attorney office it's not necessary.
Plus they didn't release CPS records, and didnt ever seem to be considering that anyway, It seems to me CPS attorneys are best equipped to address that question. Which was never really an issue.
In fact, that may be why they didn't get back to them. They may have decided this question really isn't best posed to us. We're here to advise about OUR records, not some other organization's.
"As a true Christian believer, Huckabee said, he has never tried to hurt or destroy anyone.

Like Josh hurt his sisters?
I really hate this spin on things. Like anyone who talks about this is trying to HURT the family. They can't admit that most of the outrage comes from a place of CONCERN.
The Bible also talks a great deal about justice, and about how we should stand up for those oppressed. They will never, ever admit that a great deal of people feel that exposing sexual abuse for everything it is, and condemning it publicly, is the ONLY way to ultimately protect and defend victims. Not just these girls, but all victims. The more we try to keep such incidents hush-hush, the more victimized women are.
Wouldn't Anna in her heart of hearts worry about their children and Josh? Or are the women really brainwashed much like in a cult to believe in the supremacy of the man as head of hearth and home? Reminds me of the women ( some) in the FLDS

Fidosmommy (#38), good point about the Duggars not going to
lesser-known niche networks for a series, if the "point" of being
on TV is to educate and inform viewers.
Yeah, it seems like those sisters may have already been
mentally spending their "Duggar Daughters" spin-off money.
Perhaps they'll try this approach, taken out of the TFW

If Megyn was truly being a journalist, instead of a shill for the Duggars, why didn't she sit down with the chief of police and/or others and bond with them over their angst in the matter?
This was all about the 'get' and nothing about the truth or presenting both sides of the coin.
Why didn't she at least sit down with (uninvolved) experts from both sides and ask them the hard questions?
The Duggars reeled her in hook, line, and sinker. JimBob was probably all wound up about those form fitting leggings she had on.
For these interviews, if you can actually call them that, to have been at all objective, they needed to be held in a studio, and not in the interviewees home, with children crawling everywhere. Once Megyn sat down on the couch for a cuddle, game over.
And that is what we saw, what happened and what is still coming out of her mouth.

I'll throw Michelle in there, too.
It's beyond my scope of comprehension that JB would climb on top of that woman when he knows damn well just how dangerous yet another pregnancy could be for her.
It could kill her, yet, he stubbornly refuses to deviate from his Quiverfull mission to spread his seed.
Somewhere along the line, after Michelle fell in love with JB, she became a victim too.

http://www.salon.com/2015/06/09/fox_news_is_covering_for_the_duggars_with_shifty_language_and_half_truths_fox_chooses_the_side_of_a_molester/
We now live in a nation where the conservative cable news network is spinning in support of a confessed child molester, as well as the people who tried to hide his actions. Fox News Channel has always been an egregious source for misinformation and GOP talking points. We all know this. It’s also been a powerful backstop whenever a Republican candidate commits one of many unforced errors — blurting out a ludicrous rape remark, or worse. However, in the past week, Fox News has crossed the zero-barrier between spinning for the GOP and into the realm of manufacturing phraseology and excuses for a Christian television family caught up in a sexual abuse scandal.
The most flagrant tell was how Kelly and other on-air hosts have adopted the Duggar euphemism for sexual abuse: “improper” or “inappropriate touching.” It’s the new “homicide bomber” — Fox News Channel’s shifty alternate term for “suicide bomber.” Throughout the Bush years, we witnessed the entrenching of weasel language; the Healthy Forests Initiative or the Clear Skies Act, for example, each of which totally contradicted those titles in content and practice. And now, Fox News has employed this technique to whitewash a confessed sex offender.
Great article. And sadly true.
...which is that Fox News looks like it is actively working in support of a sex offender.
...
Simply put: It’s the hypocrisy, stupid. It almost always is. The hypocrisy makes Josh’s, Jim Bob’s and Michelle’s behavior especially horrendous. The sexual abuse itself is ugly and disgraceful, sure, but that they’ve been so active in campaigning against civil rights for LGBT citizens makes it that much more unforgivable. If the Duggars were true followers of Christ, they should have paid more attention to the moral of Christ’s famous line: “He who is without sin, cast the first stone.” The Duggars hurled many, many stones while covering up their own terrible sins, and they’ll surely continue to do so.
...
Fox News has turned a crime that ought to have been universally reviled by everyone of all political affiliations into nothing more than a partisan shovel fight.
...
But today, everything... is a partisan issue. The crime and the hypocrisy should be abundantly clear to all observers. But it’s not.
...
This story marks a harrowing turning point in our discourse and let history record that Fox News led the way.

Megyn Kelley can beat the drum about attacking this poor family and "re-victimizing" the victims, but this story would not be anywhere near as big were it not for the Duggars using their speciously-procured influence and power to marginalize and oppress people who are not like them.
That, and the cover-up, stupid!
Another good article with commentary on the 11 things article.
In Touch goes on to point out that Josh's predatory behaviors increased and that he became more bold in response to ineffective attempts by his parents to curb his behavior.
The Duggars seemed to have allowed themselves to be convinced by Josh's contrition act when all he was doing was lulling them into a false sense of security while he ratcheted up the abuse.
I have seen this myself numerous times in sexual predators.
They can come across almost sickening sweet to authority figures, while carefully grooming the victims into allowing them more and more access to their bodies, and in the end even convincing their prey that it was all their fault.
http://theimmoralminority.blogspot.com/2015/06/in-touch-magazine-identifies-11-things.html
So she's sort of admitting well maybe it wasn't illegal, but it should be! Ok, that's your opinion, but that's different than saying as fact it was illegal and libeling all those fine public servants who followed the law correctly to disclose this. WTF.
Z&&&&'
Please learn the difference between libel and slander. You would think a lawyer would know something so basic.
&&&
I do know the difference. It was an honest mix-up in my head. Sorry it upset you so.
Libel, slander...who cares...It doesn't change the fact the Duggars spoke mis-truths about the police chief. Isn't one of the 10 Commandments, "Thou Shalt Not Bear False Witness...? Christians, indeed...
Would it surprise anyone if Fox offered to give the Duggar family their own show? I've read that when the scandal broke a couple of weeks ago, the network paid scant attention.....at first, that is. It was only when they scored "the" interviews that the story became big news with the network.

You're going to find that comments bounce around here when you hit the refresh button. Your original comment is above the response by Admin.
----------------------------------------------
It's fairly common for comments to be posted in the wrong order. In particular, comments by Admin often appear on the blog before (in time) the comments she is referencing. If you see a string of comments by Admin, following a time gap, there are usually "delayed comments" that will appear later (in time) to fill in the gap. Refreshing may bring up the delayed comments, or it may not.
For example, when I "signed off" yesterday, the final comment on here was the one from Admin in 9:09 PM, and it was comment number 8. This morning that comment was number 14, so 6 "delayed comments" had appeared overnight.

It doesn't apply to them, however. They have their own religion, their own commandments and their own hypocrisy. They have their own beliefs and then "build" their religion to what they believe. It's a mixed up, upside world in which they live.

Exactly. One can go back and read a thousand comments, piecing together so many articles, playing Woodward and Bernstein, trying to uncover any possible evidence/coverups, but if there is an ongoing investigation that currently is in the early stages of discovery and under wraps, then the public will not know about it. I believe that there is more that will be forthcoming in the near future. I don't now that for a fact, but it's a gut feeling I have. Those involved don't put all of cards on the table at one time.

No, it's not smart at all, but remember: The police chief who is retiring is a woman! And she probably wears pants! She is clearly a terrible sinner for a) having a job other than being married and having as many babies as possible; b) for wearing pants and thus inciting lust in men's hearts; c) for forgetting her place as a woman. Such a sinner would not hesitate to take a bribe, just as she is planning on retiring after apparently a long and distinguished career. Sure, why not risk blemishing your reputation and pension?
No one had to be bribed to tell what they knew JimBob. People willingly answered reporter's questions, and then helpfully pointed them even further down their investigative road. Not to mention, a whole lot of people knew about the molestation. It was no secret in your community.

If this is accurate, who is paying for Nield's services? Since Josh is unemployed, I would be likely to guess TLC is footing the bill --- except why would they do so? Strange stuff indeed.
Regarding the two specials. The filming done this weekend would be highly unlikely ready for broadcast in three weeks. I think they are going to squeeze two episodes out of the Mexico trip. This is just a gut feeling, but I think the kids went down with her for the weekend and then went back home to go to school the next week. I think Kate and Steve stayed for a few more days to have some adult fun.
We'll see, but I think the first episode is going to be the kids celebrating Kate's birthday and the second episode is going to be Kate having fun on her own and reminiscing about the past 40 years of her life.
The filming done over the summer will likely be shown in late Fall or early Winter like the Plimoth Plantation and New England vacation was last year.

Me either. I'm not sure where this idea first started. The one thing the Duggars appear to be reporting correctly, is that Josh's molestation was addressed by the proper authorities in Arkansas, although it was four years after the fact. At that time, an investigation was opened, and the parents were required by the (I don't know the official name of the dept that conducted the investigation, DHS?) to put Josh and the daughters he molested into accredited, non-Gothard-based therapy.
There were probably other requirements they had to complete, which we would not know because that investigation is confidential. All that we know is they apparently met the requirements put on them. After that, the case was then closed.
The statute of limitations has run. It ran even before the Ophrah interview. So I don't see how there would be a new investigation now, unless there were more recent allegations brought by new victims.
Some industry experts say the program and any spinoffs – there have been reports that TLC was planning a show featuring Jill Duggar and her husband, Derick Dillard, and Jessa Duggar and her husband, Ben Seewald – could find a home on a faith-driven network or platform
******
Is UP a faith-based network? I know that the Bates have a show on that network.
Of all the possible scenarios, this one seems at least somewhat more likely. But it really all comes down to the advertisers. If there are enough advertisers for a Duggar show, then it will happen. I have a hard time believing any reputable company would want to be associated with the Duggars right now.
Does anyone think the UP network is wondering if they should be worried about some of its own talent?

It's hard to say..some filming has been aired pretty quickly, like the RV episodes. I haven't seen that they were spotted anywhere else other than the hotel, so maybe they want to make it look like the kids were in Cancun longer, so filmed at a local hotel so they can pretend it's in Mexico. I wouldn't put it past Kate or TLC. This may jsut be some filler stuf to add to an episode that's alreade being edited for airing. We'll have to wait and see.
I'm still wondering how they'll explain Hannah's absence if she lives with Jon or if she isn't forced to film. Kate will probably remind everyone that she has always said that anyone who doesn't want to film, doesn't have to. So, she's just following Hannah's wishes. Isn't she the best mommy? In private, though, she will make Hannah's life a living hell for refusing to work and support her mother. After all, Hannah has a mortgage to pay!

Millicent, the Duggars are still under contract with TLC. All TLC has done is suspend the reruns. http://www.newshounds.us/the_connections_between_fox_news_and_the_duggars_may_explain_why_megyn_kelly_got_the_interview_060315
In an interview with Deadline, Fox News’ Megyn Kelly argued that she scored her big Duggar interview because of her interviewing chops. But her connection to the Duggar family's PR person may have been the real key.
But CNN’s Brian Stelter revealed that Kelly had an in with the Duggars: a man named Chad Gallagher, a principal at Legacy Consulting, who probably played a major role in deciding who should do the interview.
According to Stelter, Gallagher does public relations work for both the Duggars and former Fox News host Mike Huckabee. Legacy Consulting was “instrumental in picking which network and which person would get the first interview,” Stelter said.
“Why does all this matter?” Stelter asked. “Well, it shows that the Duggars want to speak to their base. They want to speak to their Christian conservative base so they’re seeking out Fox News.”
Stelter pointed out that the Duggars could have gone on a morning show. “By going to Fox it seems like they’re going to speak to their base instead.” Furthermore, the fact that the Duggars work with the same PR firm as Huckabee “goes to show the deep connections that exist in this family.”

It kind of makes sense. You know given his impressive resume guarding Tess and all that.
The statute of limitations has run. It ran even before the Ophrah interview. So I don't see how there would be a new investigation now, unless there were more recent allegations brought by new victims.
&&&
I think that's the point. Now that the door has been opened, more people may be calling law enforcement, and they may have a reason to reopen the investigation and make sure any new evidence they honestly didn't know about in 2006 is thoroughly examined. That's just their job.
I read something like for every one act a perp is caught in he does 20 others you never catch.
Is it possible what we know about are the only things Josh has ever done? Sure. Is it possible he's done other things we don't know about? Sure. That's where his attorney is wise to tell him to shush.
As for the SOL, we'd have to ask an Arkansas lawyer about that. There may be an issue with the youngest child and when it tolled. A legal expert would have to look at it, and that may be exactly what is happening.
I think the reason for the speculation has been the tight lockdown on Josh. For a family that is so confident they can just explain this all away, it is odd to keep him so sheltered away. It suggests something is up, that they are trying to protect him from something more serious than the big bad liberal media none of the other Duggars are afraid of.
It kind of makes sense. You know given his impressive resume guarding Tess and all that.

So much for my theory. Uncle Steve was at the hotel.
Looks like anyone connected with TLC might be under the microscope and subject to more scrutiny - If it were me I would seriously think about jumping ship.

Helping hand! Steve Neild, who famously served as a bodyguard (and rumored fling) for Kate Gosselin, continued his relationship with TLC's biggest stars this past weekend when he spent time at Josh Duggar's house.
Neild was on hand at the disgraced 19 Kids and Counting star's Oxon Hill, Md. home, which he recently listed for rental. While Neild will not be serving as full-time security for Duggar, 27, and his wife and three children, he was at the family's aid as they prepared for the moving trucks.

Personally, I would LOVE for Jon to team up with Mama June and sue the bejeebus out of TLC. TLC prevented Jon from working other jobs in entertainment after the separation and sued him for violation their "morals" clause by hosting a pool party in LV. TLC cancelled HBB for supposedly a morals clause violation
All while TLC surely knew about Josh, witnessed and is aware of Kate's abusiveness towards the kids. Not to mention that a book about her abuse was written and one of the kids wants to live with her Dad because of Kate's cruelty!! Hey TLC? What exactly do you define as moral? I'm not seeing it applied fairly or consistently.
(Leslie)
I am shocked that Steve is guarding Josh. The only connection would be that TLC set it up. I mean, come on, there are tons of security companies in the D.C. area. Any off duty security person or cop could do this. To me this says that TLC is footing the bill because TLC is still going to be in business with them. I bet anything TLC will continue to film this family after a few months after things have calmed down. I am mad; my gut told me TLC only cares about the money. And I bet they will probably get some advertisers to sign up. There are tons of them out there. Maybe TLC will have to dramatically pay the Duggars less to resume filming saying that the advertisers are paying less to TLC to run the program.
____
Does anyone think the UP network is wondering if they should be worried about some of its own talent?
_________
As I mentioned a few weeks ago, UP is now BACK to broadcasting Seventh Heaven program. Remember they temporarily stopped the show reruns for about three to four months when the father Collins admitted to his ex-wife that several molested young teens (I think that was the age). But of course, it is now back on the air and I don't hear any of the media complaining about that. Also the advertisers are signing up for this show on UP where there is a confessed molester being shown.

I call bull on Josh was betrothed at 14. The Duggars do not believe in any dating what so ever. And there is no way they wanted Josh to get married at age 14/15. I think this was just a thought one blogger wrote on that website. And I really doubt the girl's parents would want their daughter marrying at that age either.
And TLC had to know that the media would be parked outside of Josh's house for his move. And TLC had to know that media would call out Steve being Kate's bodyguard from TLC. I think TLC WANTED the media to know they were footing the Duggar cost for security. Perhaps they want to see how or if the media takes this news.
Well, Kate is home or they got her another bodyguard. Cause, ROL, has an article that Purseboy, is helping Joshieboy move from MD to AR. I think TLC contracts purseboy, for jobs. He was with the Little Couple, when they adopted, and wasn't he with the Duggars at one point, and the Rolioffs, and HBB? Besides Kate?
Expect Kate to bitch/whine/complain/cry about something broken, she's too tired etc. If Kate looses the custody battle, she will be a real rude bitch.
(Leslie)
Susan #10 why would the police arrest Josh? I am confused by your comment that the police are lining up their ducks. Thanks for helping me out.

Here are the old stories about Alice, Jim Holt's daughter and Josh, and how the gossip began.
I'm sort of leaning in the direction that the mother of (one of) the women who took the kissing picture and lives near the Duggars might know a bit more about Alice. She might even be or know Alice. She is definitely someone from the area with an ax to grind with Michele.
Steve has made a lot of money from TLC's bad parents.
I think it's hilarious that Kate Gosselin's "bodyguard" has achieved such reality TV notoriety that the fact he's guarding a Duggar body (instead of hers) becomes a story. This convinces me that TLC is still bankrolling at least some of the Duggars' activities. Steve has also popped up with the Little Couple, so the TLC connection couldn't be clearer. You can't tell me that with all of their political connections, the Duggars couldn't have found whatever "protection" they think they need on their own. On the other hand, maybe he's there to be a "minder" in much the same way he is for Kate--making sure there are no loose lips that might impact the TLC ship.
It is uncanny that out of the number of body guards TLC retains, Steve Neild, an easy to spot person, is at Josh Duggar's shooing away photographers. It gets Kate's name out there, that's for certain. It was kind of dumb, though, because it stands to reason that TLC supplied the security during the move. TLC does not appear to be distancing themselves from Josh.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xtnu7EV9ZoU
About halfway through Michelle tries to describe the kids and fails miserably. Haaa! She's as helpless as TFW!
That is hilarious.
You know what's also hilarious? Kate has tried so hard not to say a peep about this, la-la-la nothing to see hear in my non-child molesting home! Now here Steve is showing up there and it's tied directly back to her!
It's not Kate's fault what Steve does and she has no control over what TLC wants him to do, but it's hilarious the way this story eventually found its way to a connection to her. Karma is quite fun. I can picture her eating her salad for dinner and pouting about him going down there, tee hee.
TLC must have told Kate to start promoting her specials now, 2 weeks ahead of time, to deflect from all the Duggar stuff. She's never tweeted about the show this far in advance.

If this rings true about Steve, I don't know, I think it's just sort of polite. Sort of a courtesy exit strategy. There's nothing wrong with helping him move and making sure he's safe while doing so.
It's in no one's best interest for his safety to be compromised. I think that would reflect poorly on TLC if god forbid someone tried to hurt him and they weren't protecting him.
But, it's an exit strategy. Eventually they need to wean them off the teat and get out. I consider them offering up Steve as a courtesy to those they have been working with for 10 years, nothing more.
Bill O'Reilly makes me want to hurl.
----------------------
But his books, Killing Jesus, Killing Kennedy and Killing Lincoln are worth the read. In fact, the latter is one of the best I've read on the subject, and I've read quite a few.
The term betrothed is Biblical and it gets confusing. Joseph was betrothed to Mary. In reading the Gospels, it's hard to know if they were "engaged" or actually married. Betrothed, talk of divorce, then he married Mary after all that. What??
In that culture parents chose who they wanted their very young son to marry, and if everyone was satisfied with the dowry, then promises were made. They grew up knowing they were promised. The young man and woman kept themselves pure and never even looked for love anywhere else. That would have created near war between the families.
Betrothal was a breakable covenant. If the man or the bride's father became dissatisfied, the betrothal was called off. That is why Joseph could have "divorced" Mary, i.e. break the promise made to her father. She was pregnant and Joseph drew the logical conclusion. He was free to walk out. But he decided to stay.
When both young people reached physical maturity, they could get married and live together. That was an unbreakable covenant in theory, yet there were circumstances where divorce was allowed.
Modern day engagements are a variation of the theme. The main difference is that brides are no longer betrothed first.
I have no doubt Josh was betrothed in a Biblical sense to Miss Holt at one time. They only had to wait until the proper time (age 17 or 18 perhaps) to become "engaged" and actually take the permanent step of marriage.
If Kate looses the custody battle, she will be a real rude bitch.
-----------------------
Uh, getofftweeter -- what do you mean "will?" It's the status quo.
The Duggars do not believe in any dating what so ever. And there is no way they wanted Josh to get married at age 14/15. I think this was just a thought one blogger wrote on that website. And I really doubt the girl's parents would want their daughter marrying at that age either.
----------------------
One can be "betrothed" for an extended period of time, especially in pre-arranged marriages. The girl's parents may select a husband for her when the couple is very young, but it doesn't mean that the wedding will happen at age 14 or 15.
Just saw on Entertainment Tonight about Steve guarding Josh. They had photos. They mentioned Steve as the "person Kate Gosselin denied having an affair with" and said he was under contact with TLC.

Well if crazy Farrah can make progress in therapy I suppose anyone can.
Farrah says she has been told by therapists and others and now seems to accept that she has problems making emotional connections with others. She is working on it. She says she will continue to go to therapy.
We discussed at length during CT about how Farrah is most likely a true sociopath. As we live and breathe. But at least she's acknowledging the traits that make up that and trying to work on them.

The show is Everlasting, with the premise a handsome rich bachelor is picking his ideal mate from a hopeful of lovely ladies. My impression that the only reason Steve was there was because there was a photographer parked in front of the house and so far all we've seen published are the photos by ONE photographer. I would be curious to know from the photographer if there were paps there and if they were approached by Steve. I cannot imagine anything as terrible as death threats although I bet the neighbors were happy to see Josh packing up. Like I said before, when TLC can access many body guards, why send Steve, of all people, who is so recognizable?
Love this from Washington Post article:
And those online rumors? They were “extremely accurate,” Perel says. Per InTouch, Josh Duggar in 2003 was sent away to a “Christian program” consisting of “hard physical work and counseling.”

It is comforting to know that the tabloids do keep an eye on the blogs.
Certainly over time the tabloids, hopefully Perel who is aware of Kate's journal, have been investigating her lies and abuse. There may not be molestation in her household, but there sure as heck is abuse, mental and physical. Just like the Duggars who epitomized family values for the conservative crowd, Kate epitomizes motherhood and the single mom to a core group of women. It's fake and there is plenty to hide for the BRAND.

I just can't feel that sorry about their privacy and pain. The Freedom of Information Act was in place when they started their show, and if they knew they had a deep dark secret, they took the risk that somebody someday might try to expose it. If they never were famous, no one would care. They took the gamble and they lost.
That's the risk you take when you CHOOSE fame, which they CHOSE. When you CHOOSE fame, you CHOOSE that someone might start sniffing around. They also CHOSE to become a political family and inset themselves into the national debate. It was their responsibility as parents to be aware that once you start getting political, the public starts to get even more curious about the skeletons in their closet, and legally, as a right to be. It was beyond nuts for someone with Josh's past to get involved in politics, and speaks to their arrogance and delusion. It's not the public's fault Josh made a completely insane decision to get political.
I also have a hard time believing they are so concerned about their privacy when they went on to do a two hour interview elaborating on exactly what happened. Someone truly horrified about their loss of privacy doesn't then go on and address the media for two hours and talk more about it. That makes no sense.
Bottom line, it's not REALLY the privacy that bothers them. It's losing the show, period. They did those interviews to try to rebuild trust with the public and hope that they could convince TLC a show is prudent. Just own it, they would be a lot more likable if they did.

oh my sakes. This keeps going and going....
JB has to be livid, cuz how dare that evil, worldly DHS investigate his holy family. He can certainly talk the talk but he can't walk it, can he? I bet he's calling in any favors he *thinks* he has in Arkansas, trying to get this to go away. The only thing wrong with that, is that of the zillion crimes out there, incest is one of the few that leaves a permanent stain, one that the public just can't forgive and forget.
So now Josh is going to hole up in his just-purchased foreclosure. If I was Anna I'd high tail it back to Florida.
This keeps getting worse, if that's possible.
And gee, I hope Perel takes a gander at Kate's COPYRIGHTED 'mommy's journal'. Kate's almost as bad as the JB, Michelle and Josh Duggar.
I hope JB gave all the kids some of the TLC bank, they certainly earned it. But something tells me he kept it ALL, at least the minor's cuts, anyway.
http://spiritualsoundingboard.com/2015/05/28/victim-of-bill-gothards-teachings-speaks-out-about-josh-duggard-scandal-mike-huckabee-bill-gothards-dangerous-agenda-and-influence-in-political-arena-and-society-at-large/
Long article but worth the read.
Excerpt:
Understanding Reconstructionism is important because it sets the framework for the political and influential connections of Bill Gothard. We will take a closer look. Now, to be clear, this article is not meant to bash anyone who would call themselves right-wing Christian conservatives. I am a Christian and have conservative leanings. When we get to Dash’s words, you will read heated words against the “Religious Right,” and it may seem abrasive, you might take offense to some of his strong words. Instead, I would encourage you to try to look at the bigger picture of what he is saying. He is painting a picture of Bill Gothard and his far-reaching influence in the lives of many families, politicians, governments, police forces, schools, and countries. Gothard is not just some guy who has been on the conference circle selling his brand to a select crowd. This is the whole undercurrent of Dominionism – to take these teachings to the world by storm, and Gothard has been quite successful in doing so.
Let’s start off with the influence of Bill Gothard in Mike Huckabee’s life.
I would have expected them to consult a PR team, I think the real story though is how much did they listen to them. I bet not much, or those are some interesting PR people. I'd love to be a fly on that wall when the PR team stood there cringing and wincing as JImBoob ignored their advice and directives. Reminds me of Sarah Palin's team and how frustrated they allegedly got with her, according to the book and film Game Change.
I may be in the minority but I don't think Megyn's actual interview was that bad. She hit on a lot of questions that should have been asked. Yes, she should have interviewed them on neutral territory, and yes, she missed a couple follow up questions that I think were important, but she also nailed a few others. She also insisted on taking them through the story line by line, chronologically, which made it easier to find the holes in their nonsense. I can picture a lesser journalist doing a lot worse with this. She gave them a forum to dig their hole, and boy did they ever spray dirt around.
But, it was her commentary and spin afterward, going after the not-illegal release and blaming the public for being so vewy vewy MEAN to the victims, that really started to rub me the wrong way. You reported the story, now please stop trying to tell people how to feel about what you reported. We can decide that for ourselves. She ruined what was a fairly decent job at an interview with some rather tough subjects who have no qualms about lying straight to your face, a single tear rolling down their cheek.
I find it hysterical that because of Josh Duggar, Steve is getting more press than Kate. I wonder how he feels being referred to as "Kate Gosselin's bodyguard" rather than an executive at Prudential Associates.
Maybe he should change his resume.
This article says that Steve has been hired by Josh.

It was beyond nuts for someone with Josh's past to get involved in politics, and speaks to their arrogance and delusion. It's not the public's fault Josh made a completely insane decision to get political.

(that's crude I know, but hey, that's JB's lesson about purity)
Since they have TLC bank, the females sure are dressing main stream now, aren't they? And the hair, and plenty of makeup. I bet they make plenty of men have impure thoughts now. Those girls (even Michelle) leave nothing to the imagination anymore.
It's time they quit lying. They are in it for the money.
The headline should NOT be Josh hired Kate's bodyguard.
The headline should be:
TLC assigns Kate's bodyguard to Josh Duggar.

Yes, it's the old case of someone not being smart enough to quit while they're ahead. I thought she knew that much. Apparently not.
From one of the comments on an article. The part the Duggars are missing.
This wouldn't have generated such an uproar if they hadn't publicly decried that gay and transgender people molest children, and try to enact laws regarding that.
However, Josh was part of a political action group whose main goal was to influence lawmakers RE gay marriage. Josh himself publicly claimed that gay people are a danger to children.
When he does that as part of a political action committee, that's our business, especially when he turned out to be far, far more dangerous to children than most gay people.
It's speculation that Josh hired Steve. It makes no sense to me why Steve. It makes more sense Steve was assigned by TLC. Just my thoughts, Dmasy.
Like I said before, when TLC can access many body guards, why send Steve, of all people, who is so recognizable?
--------------------
Probably because he's on TLC's payroll and he was available. He also lives near there. He also worked with other reality stars, so why not with the Duggars?

More TLC PR.

))))))))))
Was this back in 2007? I mean it states this was in late May, they are not taking about a few weeks ago, are they?
My newest obsession and guilty summer pleasure! UnREAL! Story of the completely warped and manipulative machinations that go into making a reality show. The show is Everlasting, with the premise a handsome rich bachelor is picking his ideal mate from a hopeful of lovely ladies. The production staff is driven by the executive producer to find the perfect villain, to manipulate the contestants by rumor and innuendo and lies, and to selectively edit in order to serve the predetermined narrative.
it's a great show! On Lifetime, but unlike anything I've seen on lifetime before. Highly recommended!

Oh me too. I don't watch the Bachelor shows, but this is simply a great summer romp. And I have always enjoyed Shiri Appleby and Constance Zimmer.

Tuesday on “The Alan Colmes Show,” Alan spoke with First Baptist Church Senior Pastor Robert Jeffress, who always visits with a variety of topics to talk about with Alan. Tonight, Alan and Pastor Jeffress discussed Caitlin Jenner, whether any of us will see the End of Days in our lifetime and these comments about Josh Duggar and the Duggar family:
JEFFRESS: We’re all sinners, we need forgiveness. And Alan, you’re going to hate this but I’m going to say it anyway. If what happened with the Duggar family disqualifies the Duggars from speaking out on moral issues because of what their 14-year old son did 12 years ago, then don’t you think Hillary Clinton ought to be disqualified from speaking out on women’s rights issues because of what her adult husband did while in the White House?
COLMES: No, because that’s what he did, not what she did.
**********
JEFFRESS: I think what causes a problem like Josh Duggar, I don’t know what’s in his head, but I think it’s being 14 years old and having hormones running through you.
COLMES: But with your sisters?
JEFFRESS: I’m not excusing it at all, what I’m saying is I don’t think that it is necessarily because it was because he wasn’t allowed to hold hands that that happened.
WTF...the Duggars are under investigation again...In Touch say there was a a 911 called placed...and the Duggars wouldn't let them in? Am i reading wrong
