I hope everyone will indulge me in a brief hiatus from our usual posts to do one of my "recaps", this time about my own reality, my visit to the Australia Zoo last week. My reason for doing such a personal recap is because there is a pretty strong connection to our chatter on this blog and this zoo. Number one, Kate Plus 8 filmed some episodes of the show in Australia and had their own spin on what goes on at the zoo which may not have been entirely accurate. Secondly, Bindi Irwin is probably Australia's most exploited child, even attracting attention from legislatures there who are concerned about her welfare, and for that reason alone I think it's interesting to keep up with what that family is up to.
And I guess a third reason is I think you'll enjoy hearing about this as I enjoyed my day there.
I won't bore you with the long details about how I ended up in Australia. The short version is I was given a wonderful opportunity to work here for a couple weeks, an opportunity which also included some leisure time such as a visit to the Great Barrier Reef and a stay on a cattle station, and I couldn't pass that up. This was one of those right place and right time things that came my way and makes me feel very lucky and appreciative.
So last week I stepped on that 14 hour flight out of LAX bound for Sydney with several other colleagues. I'm not going to lie, that flight was brutal, but there were lots of new movies to watch and enough episodes of Veep to have me giggling a good two-thirds of the way across the Pacific. ("How much would I love to speak my mind on this campaign Can you imagine if I did that? 'Mississippi is chock full of assholes, I don't trust the Chinese, and I gotta tell you something. I'm not going to be able to pass a single piece of legislation that's really going to make any fuck of a difference in your life.' How's that for a campaign platform?") Going back, the flight was more than an hour shorter which was a difference you could feel. Every hour counts when it's that long I guess.

After a few days recovering from our jet lag in Sydney, where not me but some of us were unfortunately vomiting for a few days (airplane food, we decided) we headed up on a short flight to Brisbane, near where the Australia Zoo is located. We made our home base in the gorgeous seaside surfer town of Caloundra, which hosts an old ship wreck the S.S. Dicky that is probably the most beautiful thing you will ever see at sunrise. A few of us managed to get up to witness it two days in a row. This was the prettier of the two mornings though both were spectacular.
We planned almost an entire free day at the zoo and nearby koala hospital, and hit the ground as soon as it opened at 10 a.m. the day after we arrived in Caloundra.
My first impressions of the zoo was that it was extremely clean, very large, and quite classy. There was very little that was tacky about it as some attractions like this tend to be. It is of course heavy on Steve, with his photo plastered pretty much everywhere, but the heir apparent Bindi is everywhere too. Overlooking a croc infested creek there's Bindi's treehouse, which you can look at but not actually go up in, and coming later this year is something called Bindi's island. None of us bothered to figure out what that was about. A lot of people were commenting that Robert, her younger brother, is hardly anywhere. Neither is Terri for that matter. The marketing team knows what sells, and that's Steve and Bindi. Some remarked that they felt bad for Robert, who perhaps might feel like he plays second fiddle to his sister and dad. (I suppose it's also possible Robert doesn't want to be a part of this, though I doubt it.)
In the morning we wandered from exhibit to exhibit, just checking out whatever was nearby. We saw the crocs, several different birds, and snakes. They had camels you could ride and a sleepy tiger you could get your photo taken with, which I believe is the same one Kate got her photo taken with. It was kind of funny to see three zookeepers in there with the tiger, the people just sitting there on the ground hanging out like it was the most normal thing in the world. We speculated the tiger might be drugged, but I hope not. We saw koalas, one with a little baby riding on her mommy's back that was ridiculously adorable. Zookeepers were everywhere in the zoo, answering questions and often bringing the animals out of the enclosures for a closer look. We saw one worker actually walking a perfectly content wombat like you might a dog.
They were moving him for some reason. I asked if that's how they always move them and they said yes. Well, that seems more humane than sedating it and throwing it in a crate, as long as it's happy to walk with you.

I have to say I was impressed with the zookeepers. Most of them were very young, enthusiastic, and had the most nurturing touch with the animals. I watched one young woman remove a dozing koala from a tree with such a gentle hand, like a mother might wake up their sleeping toddler. There are also many areas of the zoo that are hands on and encourage you to touch and pet the animals, which Steve Irwin was so big on (and at times, criticized for) and there was always someone nearby to monitor everyone and make sure the animals were okay. I heard a few zookeepers speak up and ask people to step back when they felt the animal was getting too crowded, but I never saw the animals themselves act uncomfortable. The spirit of Steve and how he believed we should interact with wildlife, whether you agree, carries on.
Now to what I imagine the zoo would consider its highlights. They have a huge enclosed area with a bunch of little kangaroos ranging from about three to five feet tall. They just hop around of their own accord and are perfectly tame around people. We bought some feed and went in and hand fed them.
It was really fun and the roos had such personalities. I have a hysterical selfie with one where he looks like a silly kid photobombing me. Some of them had babies in their pouches and I saw them kicking in there like a human fetus kicks his mother. Someone else in my group saw one poke a little head out but sadly I missed that. I took a lot of photos in there and I didn't have to approach a roo, they would approach me and mug for my camera. I felt very much at ease in that exhibit.
There is another similar roo feeding area with a different breed of kangaroos. I think it was Red Kangaroos. They were just as outgoing, but because we stopped by that later they were pretty full and not interested in eating. After that our group all took a turn holding a koala.
It was like holding a sleepy toddler, they were adorable and clung to you instantly. It was very special. I said they looked like sleepy babies, others said they looked like sleepy drunks. Whichever you prefer!
At noon we gathered in the "Crocoseum" for the croc show.
I imagine the show we saw was similar to what was shown on Kate Plus 8. This part was probably the least enjoyable for me. There was a lot of teasing of the crocs with bait and even trainers to get them to come out of the water or do certain things. Shades of Sea World. I did enjoy the birds, who flew very close to our heads.
Australians in general I've found to be honest, inviting, and curious. They also love to tease and laugh and when I asked some zoo staff where the "restroom" was they burst into giggles and said, "Restroom! You don't rest in it!" They just call it "the toilet" there and thought the Americans and their Americanisms were good fun. Which reminds me, the Australians we were with remembered it was the Fourth of July, which none of us expected them to (after all, most of us don't have the first clue what their holidays are or when), and made us a beautiful flag cake. I think most of us cried when they brought that out, it was just so kind.
It was fairly crowded at the zoo the day we went, although to be fair it was the first day of winter break for Australian school children, so it's hard to judge what it would look like on a regular day. The winter weather was beautiful, in the high 60's, with just a light shower in the morning we barely noticed because we were so absorbed in hanging out with the roos.
Australians are also chatty and love to tell you what they think if you ask. They don't have some idea that they best not say what they think to strangers out of politeness, as some cultures do, including to some extent our own. They are my sort of people! I had chatted up several of them throughout the trip and found out some interesting dirt about Terri. I met someone who knew Steve and said he was just as he was on TV and that everyone loved him, but that most people were not too keen on Terri. He found her to be standoffish and was never able to form any kind of friendship with her as he did Steve. I found myself wondering exactly what Steve saw in Terri, since everyone describes him as so genuine, and she as, frankly, a hot mess. Australians are very aware of the criticism of the Irwins and it makes them uncomfortable. The zoo has been struggling even before Steve's death, and the turning point as one Australian thought, was when Steve held baby Robert near a croc. He said from that moment on they never recovered.
Terri is estranged from Steve's father and he has washed his hands of the zoo, however under Australian law he apparently still has access to and sees Bindi and Robert. The zoo staff is, according to those I talked to, quite concerned about Terri's handling of the zoo's finances. This I had heard in the press, too.
Many locals were also vocal that they didn't like the zoo either, in particular the way you are allowed to touch and hold some of the animals. They said if you encountered a kangaroo or koala in the wild (which I did, incidentally, at about 11 o'clock at night I ran into three roos bigger than me--although that's another story!) you should quietly walk way around it or they'll claw your eyes out. I quietly walked around the three I saw! Way around.

At the end of the day a zoo is a zoo and I don't find them particularly necessary, but if you must have a zoo, they did as good of a job as you can with it. I give them credit for getting rid of some of the most exploitive exhibits, like the elephants, even if it were more for financial reasons, and for taking care to hire a staff that treats these animals like their own children. I also know many people who had a stake in the zoo have lines they won't cross. For instance, Steve Irwin's father has been very vocal about his disgust with Sea World. I've been to Sea World San Diego as well and I never felt the level of comfort there that I did at the Australia Zoo. This zoo has its issues, but it was not Sea World.
After a nice lunch in a big food court near the Crocoseum we headed over to the Koala Hospital, which is just a short walk over on the other side of the parking lot.
Here is where my heart just swelled. This is a real living working hospital that takes in injured animals and restores them to health. Many are released back to the wild. If they cannot return safely to the wild they are absorbed into the zoo or go to other good homes. They have it all open for viewing with huge glass windows, and some of the vets were working right at that moment on a sea turtle. You can see in the photo a great example of the gentle, loving touch of the vets. One of the doctors was actually soothingly rubbing the turtle's back. I don't know if a sick turtle responds to a back rub, but it's worth a try.
The vets came over to the windows to talk to us and show us the turtle up close.
When we were there they were treating several animals including a koala who shattered his pelvis when he was hit by a car. He was doing well enough to rest in a little tree they had set up for him. You could see little shaved spots on his tiny back where they had been working on him. The turtle was suffering from excess air in its body and shell. Apparently a defense mechanism when turtles are injured is to retain excess air, however too much can kill them. There is treatment for it that can help it get better. They did not know how he was injured but guessed maybe a boat.
I'd love to see the zoo focus much more on this rehabilitation, but I suppose the other exhibits help fund this great work. We asked ahead of time if the hospital needed anything, and they said they could use office supplies like post its and pens, and that they could always use new or gently used towels. Well, my group delivered, and brought over from the U.S. with us the motherload pile of supplies you see here in front of one of the vets. I'm very proud of these Americans.
All in all it was a wonderful day, I learned so much, and we all felt so good about being able to help out the hospital with supplies.
Thank you everyone for your patience while I've been absent from the blog. I'm glad I'm able to share with you some of the cool things I did while you were stuck on the same post! Australia may be a progressive country but it could use some work when it comes to its wifi! It's nonexistent in many places and slow as all get out in most others. Incidentally, one of the few times we had really good wifi was at the zoo (thank you, Terri, for that), but of course when that happened we were too busy seeing the zoo to be online much. Thanks again all you blokes and g'day!

Within minutes of Kate's Shoka on the bed fake tweet last night, Milo was right there, chiming in.
))))
Her entire life revolves around that woman's tweeting. It's really kind of sad, isn't it?
One of the players had on the long sleeve underarmour shirts with a short sleeve shirt over it. I have read on here how hot it is there. How can you wear layered clothing on a hot day at a golf tournament?
(((((((((
Those shirts are made for that purpose - to soak up sweat. Some prefer to wear them because then you don't have wet arms and chest from perspiring.
If kids do not want to have a relationship with their father, that is not something a court can force on them. Period.
))))))))))))
Oh, yes indeed it can, and it does!
No way would I brush a GSD in my bedroom, but remember, the whole OCD thing isn't real.
I remember Robert writing that yeah, he's been in the house and seen Kate's room, and it's a mess.
====
I've always wondered why TLC didn't focus their lens more on Kate's alleged OCD. She talks a lot about her house having to be in hospital sanitary condition but she's never actually been filmed doing any housework, except for the time she cleaned the fridge with a Q-tip. Her house always looks untidy with HER stuff laying around everywhere. She said she had to clean up the kitchen before they left for the progressive birthday party so why not waste ten minutes of the viewers time showing her doing THAT instead of sitting behind the wheel of the BBB. Maybe her younger fans could pick up a few cleaning tips since she is such an inspiration to them.
And how many 14-year-old girls like to hang out with their mom in her bedroom on a Saturday night? It seems like they're always in there with her. Weird.
The Twitter non-fans are concerned that Shoka doesn't have a doggie pool. Kate has said that he would roll in the mud. When it's really hot, our dog does enjoy splashing around in the in-ground pool, but I really have to be careful not to encourage too much of this because she's a long-haired pup and the hair gets into the water and clogs the filter. I always use the net after she has been in the pool and try to make sure to clean up the excess hair that's floating around.
I got her a doggie wading pool and she likes it. However, I really have to grab her fast when she's finished cooling off because even though there isn't any mud around, she makes a beeline for the grass and mulch beds. Wet dog and mulch is a nightmare, She also gets.grass clippings in her coat, and picking out tiny bits of mulch is no picnic.
I can kind of see where Kate is coming from in not allowing the dog in their pool or a doggie pool. If the dog gets groomed on a weekly basis (and it looks like the dog is always neatly groomed), I wouldn't want my dog rolling around in the grass and mulch, only to undo what the groomer has just done.
The best thing she can do in this heat is to allow the dog inside during the hottest part of the day. If not, then at least I hope he has some kind of shelter outside. It appears that there are plenty of shade trees on that property, and unless the heat is dangerously high and advisories are issued, I don't think that the dog is being abused if he doesn't have a doggie pool. I also don't think that Kate would allow him to be inside the house after a swim in a pool. Wet, smelly dog odor in her house would drive her nuts.

No, the court cannot. It can order visitation. It can order custody. It cannot force a relationship, much less a "healthy relationship" as this moronic judge "ordered" the son to have with his father.

Yes! My son wears those outside in the summer to play basketball. He said having his back and arms wet from sweat drives him nuts and the shirts really help do soak it up! I think I'd be sweating even more wearing those shirts, but hey, it's what athletes do.
Guys also wear the Under Armour compressor briefs (I think that's what they are called) under their shorts and jeans because apparently they really help prevent chafing.

Sorry, can't make it clickable. Wonder if they raised their daughters to look the other way and enable their husbands to do whatever they want?
I could understand Jon wanting a dog, but not Kate. And German Shepherds no less, who shed like crazy. I think the story goes the breeder was a temporary security guard and that's how they met the guy. TLC must have offered him a tidy sum.
The property is wonderful for a big dog but I do not believe for a second he is treated like a family member. If so, why is he hardly ever on film? Basically he patrols the perimeter so his barking would alert them to someone on the property I suppose.
Unfortunately when the day comes that Shoka passes, she'll make a big deal about it and replace him with a grifted dog more to her liking.
AuntieAnn (#5), earlier, I typed almost word for word the same
comment about C hanging out with TFW on a Saturday night,
and then I erased it. But now I see I wasn't being nitpicky.
I was looking into a situation which I find concerning:
a 40-year-old woman using her teenage daughters for
companionship. She comments repeatedly about them
hanging out with her. We know how incredibly
manipulative she can be with her words. Like telling
the kids they wouldn't be Gosselins anymore if they stayed
with the Palins. Or asking the boys if they'd take care of
her when she's old. Really creepy, inappropriate stuff.
So I would imagine there are mind games played to get
some kids to keep her company in her sanctuary
(except for the boys, of course -- they're just her junior
farmhands and toilet scrubbers). In the twins' case,
words are probably not necessary anymore. Their roles
are firmly established. Oh, and M and C are 3 months
away from 15, so the idea of them voluntarily chillaxin'
with Mom on a Saturday night seems all the more unlikely.
I used to help my step daughter clean her home. She had two small children and a full time job as a third grade school teacher. I would let myself in and tidy up and leave a cooked meal. We both felt good about the effort!
They had/still have a full grown long haired German Shepard dog. A lovely animal. But, what a hairy mess. Fist sized clumps of fur would roll across the kitchen floor and take up residence under the edge of the cabinets. When I vacuumed the rugs I could fill an entire Oreck bag with dog fur.
I love animals. I could not have lived with that amount of shed in my life. They did brush the dog -- outside with regularity. The hair just seemed to keep coming and coming.
The dog slept with their oldest son. The fur in is bed would have made a new blanket.
I just could not get over the amount of shedding. Bless them (and others) for loving their German Shepard. I would have to choose a different breed for myself.
Kate -- I don't think she is the type to endure that side effect from a pet.
Fired Up 4 Kate @MiloandJack 13h13 hours ago
@Kateplusmy8 There R some long haired breeds that just don't shed
much I'm told. Jack & lil sis get brushed daily here cuz they get N lake.
LOL I wonder why Milo never mentions "lil sis" by name? (Katie) Could it be Kate did not seem too pleased Milo named her dog after
her.
I am sure the twins are interested boys, probably have crushes. What's going to happen with the dynamics when a boy enters their life?

I remember one early episode showed Jon saying he wanted a large breed of dog and Kate saying she would like a small one- maybe she meant a toy poodle size. I don't think she's dog-ish. It would just be another accessory like Zorro. That relationship I just don't get.

I think the twins are kind of stuck in the house. No transportation unless a friend's parent drives them. They probably stay in their own bedrooms. But if it's just recently that Kate has allowed them to enter her quarters, maybe they do feel like it's an honor. Who knows. Unfortunately the whole family is now a bit off, no offense, due to the influence of Kate on them.

In the case of the Asian golfers, the long sleeves are all about not getting tanned. Culturally, the paler the skin, the higher your status ie you work inside as opposed to a labourer outside. Not making a judgement, just stating the reason for the sun-blocking clothes.
A lot of them aren't wearing the whole shirt under their golf shirt, just the sleeves.

They are also good for wicking away sweat and keeping your body temperature regulated.
Mel: Trump is doing it now. He is using full use of the Media, and he even said so, in a recent interview. Unlike the other candidates, who are saying very little to none, and the Democrates are also not saying much, except Sanders, who is letting people know where he is going, and a little bit from Clinton, the rest have said nothing, Trump is taking full advantage of all Media to get his point across, no matter who it offends. In other words, he is trying to start the fire(stir the shit), call it what you will. And as mush as I hate saying this, it's probably what both parties need. Trump just did it first. Immigration, was on Obamas list of things to deal with, almost 8 years ago, nothing has been done. When you have politicians, who agree to disagree, and never have enough to vote on anything, and are refusing to work together, nothing gets done and don't have a backup plan, or my favorite, adding on stuff that has nothing to do with any bill, so it can pass. Cause, these guys know that if those little bills are brought in to be passed, they probably would be thrown out. So attach it to a big bill and it will pass. Trump is entertaining!
TLC Stinks (14),
I believe one of the twins (Cara?) had/has a boyfriend already. The fact is, Kate can't keep those kids from growing up. She can isolate them far from their school, friends, and neighbors, and pressure them to hang out with her, but some day they will all have lives outside of that house. They will want to be away more, and keeping them cooped up at home, waiting for the TLC cameras to show up, isn't going to work. She wants them to be her buddies, she told Deanna that she wants the kids to be each others' best friends (translation: stay home together so they are camera-ready at all times). But that is all directed toward making them available for filming. But without outside interests and activities and relationships, they are boring and therefore not entertaining to watch. How is she going to make them interesting and isolate them at the same time? What a conundrum! The other reality tv families have so much more to bring to the table. Careers, relationships, hobbies, weddings, babies, etc. Not the G family.
I have two Austrailian Shepherds, and the dog hair can get overwhelming. I vacuum at least once a day, sometimes more. It can be a lot of work to keep up with all their shedding, no matter how often we have them groomed.
OYE!!!
You have lived shedding until you have a Black Lab/Golden retriever mix. It is insane! ( or maybe it finally driven me there)
Black lab fur floats, literally in the air, I sweep my ceilings...No wonder they float so well, they have 2, count'em, 2 coats of fur.
Oh, and the older they get, the more they shed, WHO KNEW ?
It is a balmy +30C here with a humidex of 40, yes we have air-conditioning, and yes, I fill a bag every day of her fur.
I should probably learn to make yarn, then knit me a Keyla sweater...hmmmm
Do we really need a spinning wheel for that? I should ask Rapuntzel, I mean Khate, she would know.

been outta Orange straws for a while, Blue is up now =)
Still cooler here un der the verandah, come join us all, WIFI works great here
Long sleeves in horrid humidity...
My bartenders ( Yes, MINE ALL MINE!) in Cuba wore full sleeves, it apparently kept them cooler, never saw them break a sweat..and the hair? OYE!!!

so going to retire there carry on, just poked my head out to change a keg, we is all goods now..lol

I think Kate just wants people to think she's such a cool mom the girls don't want to hang out in their own space.
Gee, if everyone except the boys congregate in her bedroom all the time, maybe it's time to downsize.
You can compost dog hair/fur. I took a composting class (years ago before it was fashionable to be "green") the instructor had a Golden Retriever and composted the dog hair. She was really excited about it because she finally found a use for it.
As to where, I don't know. I have a compost pile in my backyard. Philadelphia has a company that will collect your scraps, compost it and return some compost to you (if you want it). I looked into it but it was just easier to learn to do it myself and put it in my yard. Do you have allotments in Canada like they do in England? Maybe they have a pile at your local community garden?
A lot of them aren't wearing the whole shirt under their golf shirt, just the sleeves.

And some of them are wearing the full shirt with the turtleneck. It makes me hot just to look at them!
"LOL I wonder why Milo never mentions "lil sis" by name? (Katie) Could it be Kate did not seem too pleased Milo named her dog after

I had expected that after the adoption, she would have changed her Twitter name to Milo, Jack & Katie Irene. It didn't happen. Strange.
"Oh, yes indeed it can, and it does!

No, the court cannot. It can order visitation. It can order custody. It cannot force a relationship, much less a "healthy relationship" as this moronic judge "ordered" the son to have with his father."
&&&&&&&&&&&
I believe this is what Warmth meant when she said the court can order that the terms of the custody agreement be followed. It's a matter of semantics. We weren't talking about any kind of emotional bond, but rather visitation on the agreed-upon times. A healthy relationship can never be forced or ordered, no matter who has custody. It can be suggested by the court, but a bond with the other parent must come from the heart, not from the judge's bench.

Couldn't you bag it and sell it to "Build A Bear Workshop?"
My dog helped clean up that major oil spill when she was groomed- the groomers around the country sent all the fur to The Gulf of Mexico!
Layla, how do you know Cara has a boyfriend?
Hey, Gladys, the tournament is over, and not a word to you from your darling. She obviously didn't take the bait.
I just heard that this tournament broke the attendance record for the event, with 135,000 people in attendance. I believe it. Now things can get back to normal!

English Bulldogs have short hair and she'd like you wouldn't believe. I'd wager that I've loved all of my bullies more than TFW loves (tolerates?) Shoka and I've never brushed them in the bedroom. They've all had free reign in the house but got brushed outside.

She has eight kids, too. Without a word of a lie.... eight of them!!!!!!!!
The kids must be there tonight because she non stop tweeting. She's also teasing about fun stiff they're working on that she can't wait to show her adoring fans. Yawn. I'm watching a quail family in my backyard which is infinitely more interesting than anything she can produce.
Congrats on the granddaughter Rainbird!
Well, Kate tweeted to a fan, when asked if there are more shows, and Kate tweeted back, with a smilely face. Then Kate said, we have been doing a lot of fun things, can't wait for you to see. Which means they were & have been filming. When Kate gets quiet, that means they were filming, she is out of town, or the kids are with dad. This time they have been filming. People said I was full of beans, that they were not filming and I said they were. Kate is predictable.

NJGal51, thanks! She is precious!! redbird! haha
So, TFW, are you filming, or do you and your kids have "no
schedule?" It has to be one or the other -- it can't be both.
If you're filming, then your children are not having the summer
vacation they're supposed to.
Rhythm Of Life (#35), yes, how in the world is she bragging about
doing nothing all day all summer long? There should be MORE
work to do when the kids are home all day long! And we're STILL supposed to buy that she does it all by her lonesome? What
a crock!
Just because there is film in the can, so to speak, does not mean it will air (i.e. Twist of Kate and there is a never aired episode of Jon and Kate Plus 8 filmed in DC when they visited The Smithsonian). I think, though, she was referring to their day at Dutch Wonderland, so in fact, they may not have filmed since then. That hasn't aired, right?
Sue_Buddy (#41), yeah, that run ain't happening. Ol' Jackie
better get behind Stale Cereal Girl and Nightstand Book GIrl
in line for TFW's attention.
I love the way TFW says the run may have to wait until the kids
are back at school! Continuing the illusion that she's home in
her June Cleaver apron and pearls, serving 3 hot meals and
loving advice every single day while the children are off.
The wine must be flowing tonight. She's in Tweeter overdrive.
Which means they were & have been filming. When Kate gets quiet, that means they were filming, she is out of town, or the kids are with dad. This time they have been filming. People said I was full of beans, that they were not filming and I said they were. Kate is predictable.
*****************
No, it doesn't mean they are filming. They haven't aired the Dutch Wonderland "special" yet, nor anything else they may have done around the county at that time. But if you want to believe that they are filming, then they are filming! ;-)
She's tweeting up a storm tonight. Does this mean that they aren't filming right now?
TFW tweeted:
Kate Gosselin @Kateplusmy8 2m2 minutes ago
@ssj94 NO! I LOVE summer when my kids are home! Sun, warmth, no schedule, pool and long days! I’m an advocate of summer 100%! :)
-------------------------------
She says "no schedule." If you are filming night and day all summer, wouldn't you expect that they'd have a schedule?
It looks like Milo's beeper alert is working. I wonder what happens if Kate tweets when Milo is at her Sunday go-to-meetin-services. Does she walk out in the middle of the preachin'?
Milo wants to come back in another life as Kate's dog. She's really opened herself up with that tweet, but I'm not going there! That's a good one for AuntieAnn! lol!
According to Kate, Shoka is so spoiled. Nobody asked her about the time she drove off with him running down the road and she never looked back.
I have not heard any buzz around the area that they are filming. If they are, it's been secretive. Someone almost always spots them and reports where the filming is being done. That's not to say, however, that they aren't doing it on the down low. I think that they may have additional footage left over from the birthday party shoot/Lancaster County filming. Kate will tease from now until an announcement is made, if that ever happens.
I think, though, she was referring to their day at Dutch Wonderland, so in fact, they may not have filmed since then. That hasn't aired, right?
--------------------------
I highly doubt they filmed anything at DW. They stayed at the Double Tree Inn for the birthday episode. The guy who had his picture taken there with Kate in the bar of the Double Tree, tweeted that HE went to DW.
People assumed that the Gosselins went to DW because there was no other attraction in the area of the Double Tree Inn and someone else also tweeted that they were filming at the hotel. So the assumption was that they went to DW for the tups birthday.
We now know that what they filmed at that time was the tups' birthday sleep over and that's it.
Awwwwww, how cute!! Much happiness with your new granddaughter Redbird! I bet she is absolutely beautiful!!
Which means they were & have been filming. When Kate gets quiet, that means they were filming, she is out of town, or the kids are with dad. This time they have been filming. People said I was full of beans, that they were not filming and I said they were
_______________
Let's just wait and see before we make this kind of an assertion. If a new special appears, and it's full of summertime fun, then we know that they filmed during vacation. If not, then we know that they didn't! It's really not rocket science.
Full-on Shoka Charade tonight, with Milo and Kate lobbing Q's and A's to all the various criticisms (real AND perceived) about the dog's care. The Shoka poop was going on with a trowel. Why doesn't Milo ever take as much of an interest in how Kate cares--or doesn't--for her children?
"We've been working on some fun stuff here" -- oops, didn't she
mean to say that she's working, but the kids are wandering in
and out of frame?
She can't wait to show the fans? Well, she teased the last
episode by saying she didn't even have the words for it,
and it was just a freakin' pizza party at a hotel. She's like
a carnival barker. Step right up, hurry hurry!
OK, let's try again. Redbird I'm glad that you knew my post was meant for you. Apparently autocorrect likes Rainbird better because it tried to change it again.
Sue_Buddy - I'm with you and think that radiogirl will be a thing of the past now that she doesn't have a show any more. I will say that TFW may have just lost herself an endorsement deal by saying she doesn't like ice cream rather than saying that whatever brand radiogirl is hawking is her absolute favorite and they eat it every day. Dumb ass will never learn.
Once again she's trying to reinvent herself. This time as an animal lover. She's in Shoka overdrive tonight.
As others have said about a judge ordering a healthy relationship, we're playing synantics. It is all within a family judge's power to order a parent and child to take all the steps toward a healthy relationship, including intensive therapy and conjoint therapy. No they can't order your thoughts and feelings to change but they can order you to take certain steps that facilitate the change of those thoughts and feelings, and they can order you to see, interact with, do therapy with, and be open and fair to your parent. They have broad discretion to do what is in the best interest of the child and their relationship with their parent.
A judge is also not supposed to allow parental alienation to happen. If they see it, they are supposed to put an immediate stop to it, even if the kids hate your rulings.
The interesting question this case raised is what do you do when a minor is in contempt of an order you made that was in their best interest. If you turn a blind eye to their defiance, the family court becomes powerless. The California Court of Appeal said that when it comes to visitation if a child won't go because they want to estrange their parent, and you the judge have determined there is no "detriment" to the visits, then you must drag them to the visits kicking and screaming. The case is called Hunter S. and I believe it's from 2006. That's about as close to saying the judge has the power to force a relationship, if you're willing to stop playing semantics.
OT: Big Brother is such a fun guilty pleasure! Lots of fun twists and turns, more every week! The competitions are really fun to watch also!
I'm gonna put together a virtual tour of the historic Northern Neck of Virginia just for fun. Posting this week. Anyone is welcome to virtually come along! We will share some fun history facts along the way.
She has eight kids, too. Without a word of a lie.... eight of them!!!!!!!!
-------------------
Eight kids and a pool. That about sums up her life. Oh, and the leather sofa and the fact that they've been to many countries all over the world.
So Kate finally admitted that the Gator the kids got for their birthday last year, wasn't a "fun" gift for them. Instead, it's for helping them do their "work". Guess you could call it the "birthday gift-not a gift".

Not that Kate would disabuse this sheep of the notion that she actually didn't BUY the thing...
It's not for fun, so don't load 5 kids in the payload unless your filming or doing a photo shoot!
I agree, I think she was teasing and the way she words things could just mean they are doing "fun things" at the house and she'll share on Twitter, not necessarily they've been filming. She's had her big vacation so what else is there this summer?
@Kateplusmy8: Now that’s a handsome man! 🐶 http://twitter.com/Kateplusmy8/status/620409662547054592/photo/1
========
I don't see any photoshopping either. What I do see is a rather small TV. You'd think that she'd upgrade to something bigger since everyone congregates in her room to watch TV.
I still think that Shoka in the bedroom is nothing more than a photo op. If Shoka had free reign of the house (as TFW would have us believe) poor Zorro would have to spend all his time in his cage. We all know that Zorro has favored nation status in that house. She's trying to portray herself as a busy, busy mom with kids AND pets That she loves oh so much. "Uh oh, Shoka got into the fresh baked bread! No problem, I'll just make more. What will that crazy dog do next!" All of this said with Zorro sitting on her shoulder and bluebirds flying around her tweeting their happy song.
Oh my, the comments regarding how much calmer and relaxed she is these days. Another attempt to change her image. It's amazing how relaxed you get with a few glasses of vino.
Does the Star of David surprise me? Not really. They're ignorant enough to not have a clue what it symbolizes. They've been isolated and repressed since birth.
I wonder why all the Shoka love last night? That is the most she's ever gone on and on about him. There's always a back story to her lies.
I used to own a John Deere gator. It's awesome if you have plenty of property. How she wrangled that from TLC is crazy. It's not something you give to kids, so I totally was appalled to see those kids riding it like a toy. We figured the truth: it's for chores but not Kate's chores. The kids are too young to be driving it, but Kate wanted one and the genie that is TLC granted her wish. Her tweeties are so ignorant to believe Kate actually paid for that $6000 utility vehicle.
I think a wintertime Shoka photos indoors would do more for damage control since it is alleged she kept the dogs outside and mocked them in extreme weather. I guess it's quite ho now, but with Kate it's just BS.No way does Shoka sleep in TFW's bedroom at any time of the year!
I don't think Jill Duggar knows the meaning of the Star of David either. She named her first born Israel David and Michelle and JimBoob named their last child Jubilee Shalom. Do they even know the meaning?
For a family who states their is no TV, computers, media type anything they are getting caught with a lot of stuff. Jessa seems to be the producer of family videos to post on the family facebook page apparently to keep them In the public eye. They sure got used to the limelight. She is like Kate in that everything is an episode, her husband's struggles, Anna being 2 days over due, Jill leaving for an undisclosed location and on and on. These people just keep getting caught up in their lies and falsehoods. I wonder when Jessa will film Josiah's courtship with his 17 year old girlfriend.
Isn't it odd how now her bedroom is the center of all activity in the house? It's like everyone wants to be near mommy. That's the impression she's been tweeting. Complete 180 from the move in. I don't believe kids that age, particularly the twins, would be interested in snuggling in mom's bed watching TV. Another attempt at infantizing? Maybe they are that immature.
OMG!!! My dog just sneezed. I screeched and screamed my lungs out and almost had a coronary!! I scared the dog and he barked and jumped on the couch and started shaking and cowering because my piercing screams scared him!!
Just kidding, but my dog did sneeze.
Either someone told her to remake herself and they're giving her directions or she's on meds - maybe an SSRI? Or both. She's way too rigid to change on her own.

I wonder why all the Shoka love last night? That is the most she's ever gone on and on about him. There's always a back story to her lies.
-------------------------
The back story is that the tweeter non-fans were going on and on about the heat, and how Shoka isn't allowed to have a doggy pool, and that he's outside in brutally hot weather while she and the kids are in the pool and have an air conditioned house. She trotted out the dog, with pictures of him INSIDE and out of the heat. Milo no doubt "communicated" with her about damage control. Nothing mysterious about it. It's all in the PR plan.
TFW finally admitted that the super-special, ratings-grabbing
10th birthday gift for the tups was "for hauling stuff and not for
‘fun’ really." It's like the wicked stepmother buying Cinderella
a new Swiffer. Maybe if the boys are really good, she'll buy
them some lemon-scented bleach wipes for the toilet for
Christmas.
All the Shoka love has me quite suspicious, too.

I agree. And I thought it was odd on the Moving Rooms special that the reason the 'little girls' did not want to move was because they would not be near to Mommy. But if she is dead-bolted in there, what's the difference? Could this have been *gasp* scripted? And again I maintain it's weird any of the kids still call her Mommy.Maybe Mommy is trying to keep an iron fist on the kids in case more rebel. I wonder if Hannah got a lot of flack for her actions or is Mommy overcompensating and keeping them all close and cuddly in her shrine? Earlier she wanted them to 'disperse' allover the mansion.
Remonda, (62) are you talking about this photo?
https://twitter.com/Kateplusmy8/status/620409662547054592/photo/1
It's not photoshopped and there are two legs in the front and two paws in the back. What am I not seeing?
I agree with others that her photos with Shoka in her bedroom were nothing more than PR shots. I doubt she would really let him sleep in her room or any other part of the house aside from the basement. and she's allowing him to sleep in her bed? That will last until the photo shoot is over. Where was Zorro during this photo shoot. Hope he was in his cage and Shoka didn't use him as a dog toy. These bedroom tweets are so phony. All she needs is to break out the wine and pose on the bed with Shoka, Zorro perched on her head and all her kids to make it even more unbelievable.
Jane (#81), not only is she too rigid to change on her own, she
absolutely does not see any reason to. Look how she proudly
said that Mommy rules don't change when Cupcakegate came
up in the recent episode. She thinks she's the bomb diggity.
Maybe she's hired some new PR person/image consultant,
and she's trying to follow their directive? If so, they'll be kicked
to the curb in a hot minute, so I wouldn't take any change we see
seriously.
Thank you so much for the congrats everyone on the grandbaby!
Skype is a wonderful invention! lol
Blowing (#83), thanks for the info about the non-fans tweeting
that it was too hot outside for Shoka. Now that "impromptu"
realest reality picture of him on her bed makes sense.
Regarding Shoka sneezing, maybe he's allergic to TFW and all her BS.
The night TLC put the 11th birthday on for the first time. over 400,000 people switched the channel after watching some little people show. So Kate lost at some 400,000 viewers and her rating was a terrible 0.24. If she or her "PR" people think a night of tweeting about Shoka is going to get her 400,000 viewers or more, someone is smoking something funny. We're watching the beating of a dead horse. Ugly, isn't it?
This is all part of her new "chill mom" Schtick. She lives in episodes

*****
My sister has a German Shepherd. That dog is always right by her side, unless she goes out somewhere and leaves him behind at home. But if my sister is anywhere about --- that's exactly where the dog is too. We love her dog and she likes us, but she adores my sister lol. So the fact that we rarely see Shoka in any filming just seems odd to me. I feel sorry for that dog.
I wonder if they're filming an episode about the Gosselin pets. First, Kate tweeted Saturday that Shoka was in her room and that he sneezed and scared them. Yeah right.
Then last night, she tweeted:
Kate Gosselin @Kateplusmy8 · 16h16 hours ago
We’ve been working on some fun stuff here... Can’t wait to SHOW you... #PatienceIsAVirtue 😉
Then she tweets that Zorro "posted" a new picture on Instagram. The last picture he "posted" was over 3 weeks ago.
This was followed by pictures and comments about Shoka being in her room and on her bed. BTW, I think she tweeted Milo more last night than she had all year.
This morning the Kate plus 8 FB page posted a link to Zorro's instagram.
Of course, this is all pure speculation, but the focus seems to be on the Gosselin pets.
BTW, she's shown pictures of the girl tups, Shoka and Zorro all in her room and on her bed. She has also mention Cara & Mady watching TV in her room. How come the boys are never mentioned? Are they allowed in her room too? Maybe that will be the next photo op.
Israel is the name God gave Jacob, so perhaps Mr. and Mrs. Dillard are doing their own twist on names starting with J. (Of course I am kidding, but I could not resist.)
He dove on2 my bed cuz we scared him! #Funny

Yes, Kate would find that funny. Scaring animals is always a real hoot at a pajama party, right?
That poor dog is probably very confused and a nervous wreck from living around that woman.

Maybe it's time to fire up the RV!
When TLC stops filming "seasons" again, will there be another announcement?
I believe TLC will film from time to time, but "seasons" seem to peter out predictably.
The last 2 episodes ranged from boring to painful, and shame on Kate for allowing presents. TLC paid for that whole shindig which not many parents could afford, and on top of that, the spoiled kids get presents.
I think they're too old for that. Get together and have fun? Sure. But accepting presents at that age is a bit much.
Especially for them.

****
When did people here say you were full of beans? Also, as others have pointed out, Kate may have been referring to some episodes which have already been filmed, but not yet aired. And just wanted to add -- speculating about what Kate may or may not be doing is part of what we do around here. You have speculation, I have speculation, we all speculate at times. Occasionally I guess right; other times different posters may turn out to be right. I don't think anyone here is in the practice of calling others "full of beans", :)

Smelly boys in her room? Ha!!!!
Yeah, can't wait to see what amazing things are happening on the compound. I'm sure it will be slightly more entertaining than watching my dogs smell their own farts.

Right, Millicent. German Shepherds are intensely loyal. Most dogs are, if they are loved.
Thanks, Blowing. I did not realize she was getting grief about Shoka being outside in the heat. The photo op is now solved!
I bet the boys enjoy their man cave in the basement. Why be upstairs with those silly, shrieking girls?

The basement and their boy cave is great for them. They need to get away from the estrogen-fest from time to time.
We had a baby pool for the dogs. Now, the dog who really loved it is too old to plop down in it, but I have the most adorable, amazing picture of him lying in the pool, on our deck, during a summer downpour!
There he was soaked from the rain, happy as a pig in slop in his pool.
The funny thing is he really isn't a good swimmer!

Yes they have...those were the ones that she made her 'famous traditional gosselin birthday cake' with gummy worms on top and Mady coordinated a party. You know, simple, mediocre-ish birthday. ;-)
I did laugh when on the Birthday party episode when Mady was complaining about how ugly the birthday cakes with those gummy things all over them. Kate's homemade cakes always have gummies slapped all over them.

---------
Wouldn't I love to ask each child in private, "Which way would you prefer to celebrate your birthday?"
Didn't Kate act all surprised when Mady and Cara said they wanted a very downscale birthday one year - just a sleepover with Talia? Not that I believe for one second that Kate was going to offer anything elaborate for her non-six pack kids.
If Shoka is TFW's beloved family member, how come he hasn't
been a consistent presence on K+8? Wouldn't he be in almost
every scene? Wouldn't the camera always catch him hanging
around his pack? Wouldn't he be casually rubbing up against
his loving Mommy's leg as she pets him spontaneously during
whatever activity was being filmed? If he's an indoor pet, by
now the crew daddies would be comfortable with him, and
vice versa. This nauseating "Shokie" nonsense is part of
her image rehab. I don't buy it.

When the tups were turning 8 or 9 I think they just had at-home parties. Honestly it was because Kate was on some interview and was asked what BIG surprise she had cooked up that the Lego/tea party evolved IMO. Then it was posted on either Twitter or Kate's website. One year I think it was just said to be a pool party and her famous cake, and showing the gifts from the Irwins etc on Twitter. IIRC. Last year Leah wanted rollerblading but the carnival was on TLCs menu so they had to wait till this year. I think this was really what they wanted - without the filming.
I have a cat who jumps when I sneeze, especially if he is asleep. He too is a pack animal. He likes to be pet, but only on his terms. He gets p*ssed if you touch him when he has not authorized the action.

Me too! Kate's famous cakes were loaded with those gummy candies.
Her cakes were fine for kids, but I never saw what made them so famous! They are in her cookbook. She did say she is not a baker (except bread) and that tent cake Zorro landed on looked like 3 pancakes slapped crookedly in a stack. Her icing skills were also negligible. It sure seemed like she switched gears, at least for the six's birthday show. And now the girls are always in her bedroom, her 'my Shokie' tweets and pics and -- honor of all honors -- the sextuplets all individually got to share the royal interview couch with her highness on their birthday special. I don't believe that's ever been seen before. She was all cuddly and nice to them, making them promise not to act like teenagers and so on.
Whatever it is, it's definitely not the Kate we know and don't love. Something happened or someone told her to get nice or get lost. It must pain her greatly to turn on the charm.
Kate signs a contract with TLC. It is very possible that she is not allowed to discuss if there are more episodes or when they will air. It is quite possible she does not know until it's advertised on tv.
There are sitcom stars who learn their show is cancelled from a newspaper or hear it on the radio. The actors may be the face of the show, but at the end of the day, the network and powers that be etc have the final say.
Long time L
Quentin Tarantino has a new movie coming out "The Hateful Eight". I wonder if he cleared that name with TFW. Doesn't she have the rights to everything with the number 8 in it because she has 8 (count 'em) kids.
Sorry I didn't see TFW's earlier tweet to BarbGlimmer but that still doesn't excuse the fact that she tweeted again and made it all about her. JMO and I'm sticking to it.
More episodes to come? Another end of summer trip beach trip? Back to school? Everything they do has been done to death and that's why her ratings are falling. Maybe they'll have a special pet episode and she can show how she prepares every meal ("excessively" and organic of course) for Shokie.

Tucker's Mom, I think a family reconciliation or K8 and TFM coming out as a couple would be the only shows that would draw decent ratings. TLC cannot continue to film back to school, birthday parties and vacations and think ratings will improve.
Ohhhh, but they are SPECIAL gummies on Kate's cakes. They're ORGANIC! Don't you know the best moms only feed their kids ORGANIC? And dogs too? Wonder about the bird? I bet his seeds are ORGANIC!
Yes, Kate is happy as a lark, which means, they just got through filming, and Kate has a nice big pay check in the bank. Prior to her rant yesterday/today she had been very quiet, even on the 4th. Kate usually posts pics on the food they had , pool pics, pet pics, there were only 2 pics, and nothing else. She might throw a bone.
Now, Kate is friend to child & pets, and almost giddy. Which as I said, they filmed and she got paid. Kate gets real happy when there is money in the bank. She is predictable.
OT...I am watching the Roloff's on TLC. It is flashbacks of when they were younger. I forgot how cluttered and dirty that house was. Amy went to get the kids up for school, she used a blow horn, and when she opened the bed room door you could not even see where the kids were. No sheets on the beds, can't see the floor, etc. Downstairs the desk drawers were ;eft open, cabinet doors open, no visible floor space. This is actually a Hoarders Show. Matt wanted to get someone to help Amy with the house and she refuses, she does not want anyone touching her stuff.
Even when Matt had the house renovated to a large house, those kids had the new furniture ruined, their rooms were like they were before and it only took a matter of days. I would have had a royal fit.

Nothing more, nothing less. It's the new, laid back Kate, kids are in my room, I'm the quintessential June Cleaver who just goes with the flow.

They still don't get this, do they? When all else fails, bring up the child support issue, showing how really stupid you are when you can't understand the way the court system works.
I didn't realize that going to a bar and enjoying a night out with music was contingent on the DJ paying or not paying child support. How many people check up on the DJ and if child support payments were changed or amended, and if he's in violation or compliance with visitation rules? I'm sure that's on everyone's mind when they are deciding on whether to have a night out at a local bar!
It's the new, laid back Kate, kids are in my room, I'm the quintessential June Cleaver who just goes with the flow.
====
Well she'd better take a few acting lessons because the new laid back Kate role she's playing isn't very convincing.

I agree, Amy is a slob. Another one who talks about how busy she is all the time, but you never see her actually do any work.
Any time Matt tried to get those lazy kids to get their act together, she undermined him and sloughed him off. The kids loved their dad but had no respect for him.
They're really getting desperate if the only thing they can fill prime time with is old clips from the Roloffs. They don't even have much cute baby footage of them because they weren't around when they were babies.
OT....Tucker's Mom......Was it you who put me on to Last Tango in Halifax? If so, I am forever grateful to you (or another poster). I love this show!
I don't think Celia is a narcissist, I think she is ridged, stubborn and stuck in her old feelings about her first husband. I say this because she is capable of seeing her flaws, and knows in her heart she's wrong. Alan is a gem, and he will continue to move her along. Although, I was so disappointed that she hurt Caroline so deeply.....again, I too could have punched her in the throat!
I told a gay male friend of mine about this series and I got the cutest e-mail from him this morning. He said, "I am marathon-watching Last Tango in Paris on Netflix and love it, but what gay man doesn't love a good soap opera, especially when it's British.
Every episode is so damn good and I have decided Gillian is my favourite character, she is so complex, screwed up and interesting.
Ditto on Last Tango in Halifax! I look forward to each episode and know I'll miss it when it ends. I also started Masters of Sex on Showtine - the story of the Masters and Johnson report on sexual response. As expected, it's quite graphic but the story line is very well done and the acting first rate.

______________
Can't speak for the kids room. I hated the lack of sheets on the beds. I would not like strangers touching my stuff either. The house was beautiful and I did not like the mess.
That said, remember this is a tv show and if the producers decided a "messy" house worked , I would bet production assistants probably "decorated" the set before each shoot. I would also think that TLC paid for professional cleaning services for the house otherwise. The mess was not cobwebs or mildew, it was clutter and as you mentioned, doors being left open etc. Remember the possible sponsors- cleaning supplies-bleach, disinfectant sprays etc, inhouse vacuum and pantry organizers. You can't bring in those if the house is not messy.
Long time l
I was trying to think of whom Gladys reminded me. Then it hit me. Remember Raymone Bain, Michael Jackson's publicist? He couldn't go to the bathroom without consulting her. She was the mouthpiece for Jackson, but was abruptly fired with a simple, "thank you for your services." She then was charged with tax evasion and sued a Florida law firm of legal malpractice. Ironically, the case went before Superior Court Judge Neal Kravitz. Kravitz! LOL!
I didn't realize that going to a bar and enjoying a night out with music was contingent on the DJ paying or not paying child support. How many people check up on the DJ and if child support payments were changed or amended, and if he's in violation or compliance with visitation rules?
---------------------
But of course! Doesn't everyone here check out the performers before going to a concert, or any event, just to make sure that they aren't behind on child support payments? I know that I make this a priority before securing any tickets to an event. I'd never attend a show, or go to hear a band at a local venue until I knew without a doubt that the person who was in charge of the music wasn't delinquent in support payments. Show me the stamped paid receipts from domestic relations!
Kate wanted that "mine, all mine as far as the eye can see" piece of property. It was a case of the nouveau riche, and she thought filming would go on forever. She had no idea how much money it would cost on an annual basis just to keep that place going. Well, it's now all hers, and she can darn well figure out how to pay for all of it. If she would get a 9 to 5 job, downsize, and live the mediocre life, then she could lay it all out on the table how much she needs in child support. What the sheep don't understand is that all of that is run through the court system, and it is the court that determines if (and how much) child support should be paid. When you're pulling in forty thousand an episode, and more than likely have millions stashed away, all that must be disclosed. It's then determined how much, if any, the non-custodial partner should pay. Kate doesn't seem to have an issue with this, so why are the sheeple so bent out of shape over it?
Kate Gosselin @Kateplusmy8
@BarbGilmer omg I can’t take it. I look at my Shokie & I tell him all the X ‘you need to live forever, okay?’ I can’t imagine;makes me cry!
But Kate, you gave him back to the breeder. You obviously didn't care if he lived or died.
WHAT do I see hanging around Jill Duggar's neck in this engagement photo in Nepal? Am I seeing what I think I'm seeing? If so, color me very, very surprised!

Looks like a Star of David. Odd, to say the least.
&&&&
I've noticed cults like theirs often place a heavy emphasis on the old testament when most Christians mostly focus on the new testament. suspect a lot of it comes from the Old providing more conservative rules and regulations that support their extreme fundamentalist beliefs. With that comes an odd embracing of a lot of things Jewish. That could be where the star of David comes in. What I find strange is that he seems to me this cult is far more concerned about converting Christians who are in a different denomination as opposed to people who don't believe in Jesus at all like Jewish people or atheists. Wouldn't you think someone evangelizing would be more concerned about getting people to believe in Jesus in the first place and not worry o much about the particulars of the denomination?
Oh and also these cults usually have an almost fanatical support of the state of Israel.
Not that there's anything wrong with supporting Israel, I do, but they're obsessed.
Ah, episode 3!!
Stunner!
One of the best shows and cast ever.
Can you recommend a similar show? I can't get enough.
**************************************************
I have just finished watching the first season of an Australian series called A Place To Call Home. I get it on BBC Canada but perhaps you can get it on BBC America, It is a drama set in Australia during the 50s and featuring a great cast.
It was me who originally recommended "Last Tango in Halifax". I started watching it the day the series premiered - quite by accident (I was home sick that day). But I do remember recommending it to folks here and I was quite thrilled when you'all started watching it - and liking it.
I was so mad at Celia I could have strangled her for missing the wedding. She was so judgmental and even when she was apologizing to Alan she was still being accusatory telling Alan how he was "...going on and on" about his son even though she was upset. Why was it all about her? I do think she'll grow as a character because that's what British TV shows do -they grow their characters! :)
I love this show, it's one of my favorites of all time. I think it's even better than Downton Abby to be truthful (don't strike me down). I was on the Downton Abby bandwagon for the first few seasons, but lost interest.
When John and Gillian were drinking at the table, I thought the speech John gave about infidelity was brilliant! First time I liked John and saw him as someone other than a jerk. Does anybody remember if John cheated on Caroline before or after he found out she was a lesbian? Makes me want to understand him a bit more.

People still believe what they see on "reality" tv is real...smh. You might want to follow Amy on Twitter. You will see she is really quite busy...and it isn't just all about her.

Thanks! I'm going to see if I can get it.

I believe he did cheat before, and it was funny that he was upset that Caroline wasn't all that upset!
I kept wanting Caroline to disown her mother (again) because Celia pushed her to the edge, but she kept restraint and thank goodness.
The family was all able to come together to support her after her loss.
Downton Abbey is grander in scale, but gets tedious from time to time.
I just wait to hear what nuggets come out of the Dowager's gob!
Yes! I love "A Place to Call Home"! Actually, public television is about the only thing I watch these days. With a rare exception, "normal" television programming is really horrific. I also like the Father Brown series and Ms. Fisher...love a good mystery show. I also like "Poldark" which is showing on Masterpiece Classic currently.

I agree about Downton. The show took the world by storm and then the main character decides he'd rather be doing something else. I'll never understand why people do this. The show jumped the shark for me then and I'm glad it's ending. They were floundering, IMO.

My opinion. I watched that show a lot. I never said it was all about her. I don't believe for one minute that TLC sent a crew to that house to stage clutter and ruin their marriage. Her car is a mess, her house is a mess.
He said, "What drives me out of the house is the clutter."
She said, "Then I'll keep it cluttered."
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2580604/Little-People-Big-World-star-Matt-Roloff-discusses-separation-wife-Amy-sneak-peek-clip.html
Again, P.J. it's a narrative of the show...just like Kate's narrative that she's an organized, do everything Mom. And if Matt was so disgusted with the clutter, well, he could have pitched in and helped as well. He lived in that house.

It's like Peter Facinelli's character on Nurse Jackie. Dr. Coop, "Coop" left in the middle of the final season, and it was really awful not having him there in the end, the way it ended.
Really? Couldn't hang around and film a couple more weeks or months?
OT- I just signed up for Acorn TV and will have access to "A Place To Call Home" and all sorts of wonderful programming!
We really have to cut our cable-I'm going to see how basic I can go. Most of the stuff is utter shite.
See, I'm so Britishy already ;-0
PJ 782. I totally are with you that Amy and those kids drove Matt up a wall with trashing their rooms and even the common areas. Maybe now that everyone is out of the main house it I clean.
We are all busy, but believe me my home and car never looked like that. My children did not disrespect their father or me nor did they have total disregard for their surroundings and others comfort. Their rooms were not spotless, but the floor was clean, the beds were decently made, laundry in the hamper, etc. That is no excuse.
I was reared in a house with 12 kids. We were told if everybody did a little nobody had to do a lot.
He said, "What drives me out of the house is the clutter."

I never watched the show, but clips that I've seen show that couple to be at odds most of the time. A "misery loves company" sort of thing.
When you don't want to live in clutter and disarray, it is VERY stressful do have to do so.
Amy may be a nice lady, but she wasn't nice to her husband, and he to her, from what I understand.
I don't think Amy's housekeeping warranted a visit from Child Services, but it sounds close.
Looking forward to viewing Poldark and The Crimson Field.
Well at least Hailey and Jon can be civil. Me thinks KATE is the problem )shocker I know)

I totally agree but I enjoyed Tony Shalhoub as Dr. Prince and wish that he'd been on the show longer. It was great to see his as the total opposite of Mr. Monk.
Paula, Miss Fisher season three episodes are on you tube. No word on season four yet. There have been cutbacks to Austrailian TV that's why only 8 episodes.
Tucker's - I love Acorn TV. I renew usually when the new season of Miss Fishers comes available. I also liked Mr and Mrs Murder(?) it's about a couple that cleans up crime scenes and solves the murder at the same time. We ditched cable a long time ago.
I am laughing at Gladys and her stupid comments trying to diminish Jon and his efforts once again. Building 24 is not a rural bar but a very large and popular nightclub. The city of Reading has a population of nearly 90,000. It is not a small hick town. Give it up Gladys. The loser is you.

Interesting. The way TFW acted I always thought it had a population of 3000 or something like that.
Thanks ladies. You keep my TV dance card filled.
I had avoided "Orange is the New Black". Not sure why. It was being discussed here a few weeks ago. I decided to give it a try. You all can guess that I sat there eating a lot of Skinny Pop and watching episode after episode. Last night, after midnight, I saw the final moments of the end of season 2. Ouch!
Next -- Last Tango in Halifax. I have come to trust all of your recommendations.
I absolutely agree about Downton Abbey. I slobbered over the first seasons and now watch out of habit. There are still a few golden moments, but I have gotten tired of the stilted behavior.
OT.....Thanks Kirkland 176 for your recommendation! I agree with you, this production is so relatable, Downton Abby is a lovely escape, but like you, I was losing interest.
I agree with you on John, this is a character who shows another side (albeit a drunken one) when he is with Gillian. I so enjoy these characters and am invested in them, that is what I lost in watching Downton Abby once Matthew's character was gone.
Now it's off to find "A Place to Call Home", thanks swingsandroundabouts. My neighbour watches this show too, so, I will see if there is a way I can catch up on Netflix.

Funny, I was the same way with Orange. Heard all the hoopla, but why do I want to watch female inmates?
I started watching and couldn't stop.
Now- try Wentworth ;-)
I think why Amy clutters the house and is a bit of a slob, is her way of control. Matt is always coming up with some crazy idea, or plan, never shares what he wants to do, then springs it on everyone, just before he is to do it, or does it, and then tells the rest about it. Amy has said countless times that Matt hardly ever talks about things he wants to do. He just does what he wants, even if they don't have money for it. So, as Matt had once said, the house running is Amy's . She runs the house, takes care of the kids, he runs the farm. But, I think what bothers Amy, is that Matt, does what he does and then expects the rest of the family to help, with out telling they in advance. Like when the kids came home from college, Matt had the wedding thing going on, and expected the kids to help, the kids had other ideas, for their spring break. Matt is disappointed in his 4 kids. None of them wants to run the farm. The oldest lives in California, the daughter is off at college away from home, the youngest just entered college, away from home, and the other twin also has ideas, that are not working on the farm, last I heard was he was to coach a team at the High school and something else, that had nothing to do with farming. Matt 's dream was that all the kids would, go to college then come home and set up life on the farm. That is not going to happen Matt. Amy does encourage, all the kids to go after their own dreams. Amys clutter is her way of control, and getting back at Matt's control issues. JMO
Am I seeing this right? Acorn TV only costs $4.99 mo??
Hubby walked through the room during some binge watching of "Orange is the New Black". He asked what I was watching. I told him. He commented that he thought I hated prison movies. I responded that this one is different and it isn't too violent. So, he plunks down on the couch beside me to watch for a few minutes.
I took the episode out of pause mode and it rolls right into the scene where Red is attacked in the kitchen by V's crew.
Hubby thinks I have re-calibrated my definition of "violent".
Amys clutter is her way of control, and getting back at Matt's control issues. JMO
