TLC cancels '19 Kids and Counting'

After more than a month in limbo, the network decides to officially axe the popular show and says it's committed to educating the public about sexual abuse.

"We spent the past month and a half in thoughtful consideration about what is the best way forward here. It's no secret that '19 Kids and Counting' was a really, really hit show. But we have some other great shows, both on the air and in the pipeline.
"  Marjorie Kaplan, group president of TLC, Animal Planet and Velocity networks.

I don't feel Collin has a learning disability, I sense more of a rebellious nature combined with suppressed emotions, he is simmering IMO. Perhaps going it alone in a new school is just what he needs to flourish as an individual, a concept lost on his mother.

As far as Jon's new relationship goes, my wish is that it sticks, he re-marries, and has a stable, happy life they can share with their children.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

I agree with this. I posted yesterday that he should really try and figure out why he jumps head first, all or nothing, into these relationships. TFW is what she is, but why did he get sucked into her clutches in the first place?

&&&&

There are really two types of people when it comes to relationships. Those that must always be in one, and those who like time between relationships to recover, digest, reassess, rethink, work on themselves.

It's an incredibly common thing to be in the first group, to hate being single. But, I know many people who are always in relationships who end up in terrible marriages. And yet even after a terrible but LONG marriage I know people who were dating some seriously within weeks of the split. Then again, I know people who have really taken their time with relationships who still end up in a mess of a marriage.

I'd like to know though how they find these people so quickly.

I disagree with this. It had everything to do with his children, and yes, I do know this for a fact.

You asked in post 167 if he is attending Camp Barnabas. Usually if someone asks the question, you care enough to wonder where he is.

I wonder if Collin is really going back to his same school and Kate is just making up episodes in her head. Then she will say all summer he had therapy, is 100% better thanks to her and everything is business as usual. I think her dislike of him has that poor kid on edge.

I want to gag every time I think of her excuse about having to have video of footage of her kids lives because having eight kids doesn't allow time to pick up a camcorder to film them yourself. So, you know, turn their lives over to a network. Every mom would do it if they had the chance, right? Funny how she could always carry her phone with when they were toddlers. It takes videos, too or does she pretend not to know that.

Screw her and making memories. She sold her kids privacy so she could make mammaries would be more like it.

I liked the Hayes family, too! They were lovely, and had family they welcomed and who helped them out. The children were genuinely sweet. I remember an older boy getting tears in his eyes when talking about his special needs little sister. Far cry from the Gosselin brood. But I agree they got cancelled because there wasn't any drama. I also think that the Masche's were the opposite of J and K. The husband was verbally abusive, instead of the wife. (Kate). They were cancelled. Seems like a double standard. (I didn't watch them much because of him, like I couldn't watch J&K because of her).

dennidon'tlikekate said...

If Jon is not on a "relentless quest to further fame and fortune on the back of his eight children" then why does this blog care what he does? I do NOT like Kate and her continual usage of the children to further her schemes for fortune/fame…… but why dissect Jon's relationships? If Jon is keeping his children away from the camera, what issue do you have with him?

I think there is a big difference to posting pictures that positively reflect on the person and the business, and an employee posting negative comments about a. Ustomer. And, she is a. Ustomer--doesn't matter who is paying, the business is benefitting, whether it is by money exchanged or publicity (or both). The pictures you mentioned were probably posted by management or the owner, Plus, there is the possibility that security footage was shown (has this been disproven?

I didn't mean that the pictures were used as positive or negative publicity. There are plenty of people in DC (and elsewhere) who do not like Obama. But he is a public figure, and when he is in public places, people can and will take pictures simply because of who he is. Some of those people may not have anything positive to say about him. The pictures on walls here must have been approved by managers/owners, but employees also whip out their phones to take pictures, and I am sure those pictures have ended up on Facebook or Twitter or whatever. Some of them may have had negative things to say about Obama. The point is, there is no reasonable expectation of privacy, because public figures have made a choice to become public figures. That choice comes at a cost to their privacy, and they know it. And the First Amendment gives people a lot of latitude when it comes to discussing public figures.

It just doesn't look like that girl did anything wrong, either legally or morally. She can take pictures unless she was forbidden to do so. And she can express her opinion about the subject of those pictures. There is nothing that indicates that it was security footage. No time stamps, no reports of security footage being stolen.Nothing but a couple Kate fans who have offered no proof to back up that allegation. It was probably an employee recording on an iPhone. Nothing more, nothing less.

I only mentioned Camp Barnabas, cause it is a camp for special need children, and what Kate was suppose to support on CA. That maybe TLC & Kate might use the camp in a show. As for saying the possiblity that maybe why Colin has not been filmed much is that maybe he is attending camp there, for TLC to use on the show. I would not rule that out. I never said he is attending. I hated the fact that Kate mentioned this whole thing at all. But, Kate does not do or say things without something in it for her. As some suggested here a possible new direction, of the show I HOPE NOT! Cause, as all of us know the shows are: same shit different year, boring. Kate has not been much of the little darling she use to be(snark), and TLC needs something a temp show to fill the void left by the Duggars.

That really is the state of the law. And even to a great extent private people don't have much rights once you step out into public. Stores can have policies about what employees are allowed to do, that is their right, but nothing seems to forbid an internet site like people of walmart, or stfuparents, and many other similar sites which rip into what private and public people do in public or on social media.

The sheep often act like if you say something negative about someone, even a private person, you're in violation of some law. Generally, that's not the case. In fact that was the big problem with BV is it was hard to pin down illegal activity. They always teetered right on the edge of free speech versus harassment.

Personally and morally, I think private people should be left alone. STFU parents usually blurs people's names, faces, etc. But just because I think that's the moral thing to do doesn't mean it's illegal if you feel otherwise. That's the difference.

Aside from the fact that it's silly for a supposed 40 year old woman to response to such nonsense on twitter, I find myself curious how Deanna got salmon, which is really sensitive to warm temperatures and will start smelly nasty within minutes, all the way from NYC to PA.

Did she pack a cooler with all that stuff and stick it in her trunk? For some reason it's hard to picture her thinking that far ahead.

Lol, those two doofi sure do entertain.

Maybe she froze it before she transported it and packed it into a cooler with lots and lots of ice packs. It's a three-hour drive. I don't think it would spoil, would it?

My question is why bother to do all of that when there are so many good restaurants in the area where they could have gotten meals for the same price, or cheaper?

The packaging on each is exceptional - insulated containers with ice packets sent for overnight delivery. The ingredients in my boxes were fresh and perfect, right down to the sprigs of fresh basil. It's pricey compared to grocery store provisions but for Manhattan apartment dwellers used to NYC delivery prices, it's probably comparable.

I remember that she had a wedding dress and she was screaming sitting and crying on the stairs clutching her wedding dress, screaming at her dad, I wish we would of gotten married, eloped because a nuclear bomb had dropped on the US.

I felt so bad for her, knowing that life was about over because of a nuclear bomb and she wanted to be married to the love of her life.

This is amazingly reminiscent of what BV and his pals including CJ, Ziggy and others did to several non-fans. I'm glad these stories are coming out in the open now. Wonder if that's why one of the craziest of fans has deleted her account. And it looks like the account named after the two Boscov kids, while still visible, isn't showing new tweets, which usually means it's banned.

:::::::::::

There's a link to another article within the above linked article. It's called, "Science reveals what makes trolls so nasty."

http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/crime/science-reveals-what-makes-trolls-so-nasty/2015/07/20/7ca2509a-273d-11e5-b72c-2b7d516e1e0e_story.html

From the article:

"People who enjoyed trolling had much higher rates of dark traits such as sadism, narcissism, psychopathy and Machiavellianism — so much so that “it might be said that online trolls are prototypical everyday sadists,” the authors concluded."

If that doesn't sound like the Bullyville branch of this whole Gosselin saga, I don't know what does and Mr. BV himself for sure. He, and several of his cohorts, get a sick enjoyment in tormenting and I think troll is a misnomer. I prefer "internet terrorist."

The reason he is leading the polls is BECAUSE he won't shut his mouth. I think voters feel that they need someone who isn't wishy-washy and isn't afraid to say exactly what he believes. They've had enough of these politicians who talk out of both sides of their mouths in an attempt to appease and appeal to everyone, even to the point that those running don't know exactly what their platform is.

Also, that the best thing divorcing parents can do is work things out themselves, or with a mediator and come to a mutual decision, lest a judge make it for you.
People bring way too much emotion into the big decisions in a divorce, especially with kids. They tend to "right fight" instead of being objective and thinking long term, and think that the judge will always side with them.
Once you hand matters over to the court, you pretty much lose your say.

Yet another example of how these pseudo-celebs latch onto the reality tv teat and won't let go.
Amy Duggar's wedding won't be filmed by TLC and-call the WHAAAAmbulance- her fiance wants you to contact TLC and tell them what meanies they are for not filming their wedding!
The couple are just devastated that they won't get to "share" their special day, which is to say, get the whole shebang paid for, and collect a tidy fee, on the blessed day.
****
Oh MY Lanta!!!

Grifting for freebies must be a genetic component for the Duggars. If TLC was seriously planning on filming Amy's wedding, then they must have been scrabbling for show ideas. I always found a little Amy to go a long way. Why would anyone be interested in watching her marry some doofus?

Guess they'll have to do what the rest of us do, and pay for their own wedding. Let me break out the world's smallest violin so I can play "My Heart Bleeds for You". LOL.

Speaking of grammar, I have an interesting memory. When I was in the 10th grade I got German measles. With my pre-existing eye problems I was told to limit my reading to no more than 5-10 minutes every few hours for the next few weeks. But we had just been assigned a book report in ENGLISH class. I asked my mom what she thought, and she suggested I read a short book. So, I read The Pearl by Steinbeck and wrote a paper on the symbolism I saw. The teacher gave me an F. I was shocked and asked why. She said "that book is beneath you, fidosmommy" and thought I should have chosen a longer book. She sent a note home to my parents to further chastise my choice. Mom read the note and took it to her desk. In a few minutes she handed it back. She had taken a red pen and corrected the spelling and grammatical errors my ENGLISH teacher had made.

When I handed the note back to Mrs. Jordan, she suddenly decided that this was not a matter for my parents to be involved in.

I thought my mom was so cool that day. I know some cringe at what Mom did, but I can't say I much care. Mrs. Jordan had no business teaching ENGLISH in the first place, IMO. Rejecting my report on a nice book that I could read in my 10 minute sessions really fried my rice, too.

I seriously think the Duggars and the men who married into the reality juggernaut thought they had it made in the shade.
I bet they are angry and disillusioned, and are beginning to realize that the gravy train just came to the end of the tracks.

Certainly, Jim Bob thought they were "too big to fail", and TLC would be brought it its knees without his large brood of side-hug dating, marrying and baby-making cast mates.
Really, I sort of did for awhile there, the more time TLC remained silent on the issue of canceling the show after the molestation scandal broke and the subsequent attempt at image rehab failed epically.

Jim Bob thought that he could play the victim and Christians would rally against the evil LGBT agenda that sought to bring them and their mighty message down, but his hubris did him and his show in this time.

Exactly. Why build a hypothesis on "probably" or "possibly" when the facts are out there? One needs to be careful when speculating because you never know when those "probably" assumptions will take on lives of their own and subsequently become rumors passed along as facts.

I remember the "Kate grew up in a trailer park" story that was circulated as fact. No, Kate didn't live in a trailer. An RV campground was built on her parents' land Kate never lived there. That story was believed by many. In fact, I remember the bio that was aired on television, and pictures of a trailer park were shown as Kate's old homestead. Nope. ever happened.

I think most people this high up in politics are a bunch of phonies running PR campaigns. Just like how it's portrayed on Veep.

I think Americans have spoken, and their message is loud and clear. They want a straight shooter. They are tired of the PR. In fact this is even more important to them they'll overlook some extreme positions on the issues. That should be a wake up call for everyone else in the race.

Personally, I've never been as interested in an election as this one. And I'm always interested.

I read that book as a child and certainly didn't remember the kids killing their teacher.

I went back and read an online summary of the book and you're right, apparently some school children did hurt a teacher so badly he died from his injuries.

Yep. I just don't mind it. You always need a dissenting voice. You always need that "check."

I think Trump's outrageous comments about some of heroes was a nice reminder and kick in the pants to Americans that we do have many heros among us, and that we never can thank them enough. It's also a reminder that someone like McCain or Zamperini should be our real celebs, not some reality star.

If a few crass comments spark some discussion, some thought, some debate, and some appreciation, I think it's awesome. This is what politics is all about.

In one of the Little House tv episodes there was a mean, hateful male teacher who abused his students. They pulled practical jokes - Willie Olesson type stunts - and the teacher would visibly shake with raw fury. He seemed delighted when he could whip a child into submission. I don't remember if any of the kids actually went after him, though. I
realize the tv show is only based on the books, not identical, so any student-on-teacher violence might not have been included in the tv script.

LHOTP the show was a strange one and had its own WTF moments. Blind baby burning alive in a house anyone?

There were several episodes about teachers. There was one where a teacher was really mean to Laura, and Charles came and gave him a self righteous talking to and I believe he left. There was an episode where a student was bullying the class and the teacher and all the kids banded together and beat him up (great lesson there.)

There was an episode that flashed back to Charles as a child who had a mean teacher and I believe the kids locked him in an outhouse.

There was an episode where Mary went to teach in a religious community and there were some creepy mean parents and townspeople who gave her a hard time. She taught them Christian love and acceptance with pa's help and all was well.

Come to think of it, school was painted as a rather dysfunctional place.

There is some speculation on the blogs about Farmer Boy that there was a lot more violence in general during that time and that it wasn't unusual for teachers to abuse children and children to fight back. Other people say maybe so but they can't imagine murder would be tolerated.

====

I agree, too. Kate said, and I think she was reading directly from a specialist's evaluation, that he had some educational and social challenges. That certainly doesn't define 'disabled' in any way, shape or form. She also said that he's a very intelligent, 'artsy' young man and for that I say good for Collin.

Maybe he doesn't like the lifestyle that's been forced upon him and he's resisting it in his own way. Personally I think there's more hope for him than any of the others, if he is. I have great respect for freedom fighters.

___________________________________

I believe Trump is telling "his" truth, based solely on his own beliefs, ideas, judgments, experiences and pre-conceived notions; pesky facts be damned. He may be a successful businessman as far as building wealth, but he has a very simplistic, narrow view of some very complex, broad problems. Immigration problems? Build a wall. Iran Treaty? Negotiate better. Easy peasy.

His interview with Anderson Cooper was interesting. Admin's boyfriend was working hard to get some specific answers to serious questions, but Trump, in his trademark condescending fashion, continuously dismissed or sidestepped the questions. In that regard, he is every bit the politician. He just happens to be a politician whose emphatic delivery of his opinions is seen by many as "no-nonsense" and refreshing because he just doesn't care if he offends anyone. In that regard, I like that he calls out Democrats and Republicans pretty equally. But ultimately, his kind of brash, self-promoting behavior is great and entertaining for someone who wants to be P.T. Barnum and bring the circus to town, but not so great for someone who wants to be the leader of the free world.

I must admit that the upcoming debate will probably be very amusing. Now if only Gov. Christie could crack the top 10 candidates. He and Trump on that stage together would make for an epic sideshow. P.T. Barnum would be proud.

Does the word compromise exist in his vocabulary? What will he do for active military troops and veterans. How would he fix the Veterans Administration? What are his thoughts on the FAA and the outdated equipment air traffic controllers work with. How would he stem the spiraling costs of health care - specifically, pharmaceutical costs. What are his thoughts on the EPA? How education and the Common Core? I agree Andrea. It sounds like the parents would have been willing to continue filming, but TLC did not renew after one season (maybe because there was not enough "drama"). I hope that even if they didn't think so at the time, the parents now realize it was a blessing in disguise. Money is tight for most of us, but selling out your kids' privacy is not the answer.

I have to admit, I'm amused by Donald Trump's antics. He has got the GOP establishment in a bit of a tizzy. Trump is not a politician. He does not owe any of his fellow politicians any favors. They don't have any leverage over him. I could not help but laugh at his remark, that the GOP loved him when he was donating big bucks to their campaign, but now they can't stand him when he's financing his own campaign and beating them in the polls. Now that right there is the truth.

I believe there is a very real worry within the GOP establishment that Trump is going to pull votes away from whatever other GOP front runner there might be. And if Trump gets in a real temper tantrum with the Republican Party, he just might run as an independent, and really screw with them.

I would like to know if Trump agrees with Jeb Bush that Medicare should be "phased out." If it came down to me choosing between Jeb Bush or Trump, and Trump said he'd leave Medicare alone -- Trump would get my vote in a New York minute.

I think Trump is throwing a monkey wrench in the works for Republicans operatives. I'm not sure how they will work it all out, but I am enjoying the show. In the meantime, there doesn't seem to be much drama going on between the four Democratic hopefuls. I think they are out there stumping, but hopefully will hold back on the mud slinging.

Agree. Christie was the "poor man's" no nonsense, straight talker who peaked a year or so ago.
Bridge Gate didn't help Christie much, but he was the guy who resonated with people because he didn't kiss ass in order to be liked.
For that, I liked Christie for his "Jerseyness".
I don't know how well he plays to the middle states, but for a yankee like me, he often spoke my language.
****
I'm no fan of Chris Christie's, but I can understand how he plain speaking would make him more widely appealing. I understand that he polls pretty poorly within his home state. However, I think Christie's real problem could be the fact that he *gasp* sort of hugged President Obama after Hurricane Sandy, and said some nice things about the President. I don't know if hard core Republican voters will hold that against him or not.

Out of the current field of Republican hopefuls, I'm not sure who is the most widely appealing overall. Part of the problem is that there are so many of them, and it's hard for any to stand out. Which leads us back to Donald Trump - who has no trouble standing out and making himself noticed. It seems to be working (for now).

Why does this make me think that there are probably still no work permits being filed for the Gosselin children when TLC decides to film them? I mean, what narcissistic, fame-whoring parent has time to do that when the time could be better spent preparing for their close-up (snark)?

The doofus cousin Amy is engaged to is a quick learner. It took him only minutes to hop on the entitlement train and get pissed because they will not have this special wedding televised. How many weddings can you watch where a girl walks down the aisle, gets her first kiss, runs up the aisle and the siblings give 1 cookie to OR a small root beer float to each guest. Absolutely boring.

Without the filming crew and everyone else it takes to put together their show Michelle has to pitch in a little and do something. In their home videos that they post their is a lot of clutter and boxes around. The poor grandma still has to do the laundry for all those people and the three current eldest girls have the child rearing and housework to do. Disgusting.

Yes, here it is. The property owner delegates responsibility and it is the contractors' job to know what permits must be obtained. He's in that business. When we built, I had no idea what was needed for what, but the contractor took care of everything and did it right.

Flight of the Kiwi said...

Ah, rainbows, if something did go awry, say with a permit, guess to whom the city (township, village or whatever) sends the non compliance letter...hint...not the contractor :). Of course you can sue your contractor or fight for a variance if applicable. Our neighbor built a 4 car garage (besides the 3 car they already had) and their contractor built it on an easement. Township wanted it taken down - $30,000 down the drain. They ultimately got a variance, which was costly.

Lol they are something else. It's all God's will until they happen to disagree with God. Then they violate explicit instructions in the Bible not to sue and roll their sleeves up and lawyer up. I love it.

They also seem to be completely ignorant to the fact that most of the people they would have to sue are likely going to be immune, either fully or partially, to suit. Including the cat and fish! And the police department has already explained they CONSULTED attorneys in making their determinations. So good luck with that.

I remember when I wanted our guy to install a certain kind of lock on the door he refused, saying it was against code in our township. I said that I'd be responsible. He told me to do it myself! The Scriptures talk about suing our brothers, which in the Old Testament would mean fellow Jews and in the NT fellow Christians. The upshot of the Christian life is to live in peace with one another, and to be reconciled with both God and our brothers and sisters. For a Christian to sue another Christian should mean that all other attempts of resolution have failed, and the act of suing is actually for the common good. We are here to demonstrate the love of Christ, not to drive angry legal wedges between ourselves. Lawsuits rarely heal relationships.

If the offender is not a Christian, the Bible is not as emphatic. The NT, however, wants us to see all people as our brothers and sisters, so the upshot is essentially the same toward dealing with non Christians.

I think it's sincerely really nice that some Canadians worry about the US's future.

That said, I also think Canadians can be worry worts. :) Even in the unlikely event Trump gets the nomination let alone is elected, he would never be able to do 1% of what he said. In the US like many political systems there are built in checks and balances. There are very few things the president has absolute power to do. Almost everything he does is checked by the other two branches and thankfully, there are more wise people than not sitting in those branches. Especially our fine Supreme Court, which has never been better. If the worst case scenario ever happened, they would take care of it.

In many respects that's why Obama has been so ineffective, because he has failed to get the support of his checks and balances. A good president should have lots of great ideas but also has to be able to build bridges and bring people together to accomplish anything. If they can't convince their enemies to be on board with their plans, they become a lame duck.

I think what Trump's going to do is make this election more transparent, more authentic, more honest, than ever before. He has also gotten people interested who were never interested. The more informed people are the better. Enough of the PR nonsense running campaigns to elect celebrities instead of leaders, and let's get real. He already has. And that's a good thing.

Good! I don't watch the shows because I can't stand to listen to her. I wonder if it would be tolerable if I just put it on mute. Maybe not, because her eye rolling and hand flapping is so annoying.

I do, however, really enjoy the recaps!

The vast majority of people who travel for work are not in the 1%. The vast majority of travel for work is not glamorous at all, and involves long weeks away from loved ones and pets. It is becoming increasingly harder to find people willing to do it. I would love to do what Kate does and stay in four star hotels, fly first class, and enjoy VIP meals and massages. That's not the reality of the 99% who travel for work nor is it wise business when budgets are tight.
*****
There is NO comparison between what people like Kate do traveling, and what "mediocre" working schlubs do for a living that involved frequent plane travel.
For the VAST majority of folks, traveling for work is an exhausting grind, ALL ALONE WITHOUT A "ROAD MANAGER" and crew, no limos, no producers figuring out logistics, shitty food on a crap daily allotment, no kobe beep tips, NO RIDERS!!!!

Most times, you get home late at night and wake up a couple hours later for work the next day.

Puleez.

I don't believe Kate travels afar alone, beyond her local Target.
She acts so worldly and experienced, but the fact is, she's as dependent as a child.

Admin, when you get on an airplane, is there a $40,000 cheque in it for you for sitting on your ass and flapping your gums? Do you exploit 8, count 'em, 8 little kids for that paycheque? Do you get hair and make-up? Craft services? No, didn't think so.

The sheeple sure are lacking in logic, aren't they?

The Duggar thing WAS last night. I started watching 30 seconds of it before I needed a break.

Megyn apparently has given up on straight out saying it was an improper release of the records but now she says the records were LEAKED which is almost like saying they were improperly released. Leaked implies some kind of mole or sneaky wrongdoing. Not the actual facts--a news outlet made a proper Freedom of Information Act request that, after consultation with numerous experts including the city attorney, the police department complied with under penalty of law if they refused.

I'll watch the rest when I feel inspired to deal with that doofus.

You forgot to mention Parking Lot C at LAX, my glamorous personal parking spot for my 1% travel arrangements.

How do I best describe it? Sort of like wandering through an episode of The Walking Dead. All I need is a beat up bloody canvas back pack.

Make sure you take a photo of your car in front of your R22 sign. Otherwise you might never find your car again.

OT last night dh and I went to the historic Byrd movie theater and saw Mad Max Fury Road for $2,.love those bargains!. Oh my goodness. It was absolutely freaking amazing car chase movie. Amazing! Charlize Theron is just wonderful. This is like a roller coaster ride at one hundred miles an hour that occasionally gives you thirty seconds to catch your breath, then on to the next hill! And the stunts are just that, stunts with real stunt people doing them, mad driving, fighting, chasing. Wow! Plus Elvis Presley s granddaughter is in it!
It's a real adrenalin rush and I loved it so much!

It's time that person went back to her own playground. If there's not enough sand in the sandbox, I'm sure some of us would chip in a few bucks to have some truckloads delivered there so they can be happy and play among their own kind.

Is it your position that no one is ever allowed to dislike something unless they are working 14 hour days and not making a living wage?

Therefore, I can only conclude you are not allowed to dislike this blog unless you're working 14 hour days and not making a living wage. Otherwise, get out. Some people have no access to the internet at all or have to wait in long lines at the library during limited hours to use public computers that are old and slow. Be grateful you can access this blog at all on a nice Saturday morning when many libraries are either closed or too crowded for you to get your internet seat. People have to walk many miles to a computer in the hot summer seat or spend a long time waiting for a crowded bus.

I have an idea, just go away.

Megyn says the family attracted hate from "liberal" groups. She makes it seem like a lynch mob.

Absolute nonsense. From DAY ONE tons of people thought this family was nuts, conservative and liberal alike. When this happened with Josh all we could say was told you so.

Megyn says she doesn't understand the anger toward the daughters. I think people are disappointed, angry, whatever you want to call it, that victims would go out and downplay something as serious as sexual abuse. That doesn't help other victims. And in fact it could make other victims feel hurt, confused, worse.

Megyn admits the TLC documentary is probably just a ratings ploy.

Totally OT, but because you used the word...

How do you all pronounce "aisle?" I was watching the news this morning about the movie theater shooting, and a reporter from the South said "owl." We pronounce it aisle, as in rhyming with "dial." Is this another regional thing?

I caught something in the re-airing of some of the clips on Megyn last night.

Michelle said the girls PROBABLY didn't even understand what had happened to them.

Um, probably isn't enough. Shouldn't you, as a mother, know by now exactly what their understanding is of what happened? Not just "probably" they didn't know? And even if you don't understand something as a young child doesn't mean you won't grasp what happened later on, and go through pain all over again.

Sure they're going to try it. Never happen. What happened to Bella Bars and those surprise jewelry boxes? Nada. Zilch. No more hawking.

It's so pathetic how they think that they have to do what Kate and her "friends" are doing. Kind of makes them part of Kate's inner circle, if there is such a thing. Wait until they find out that it will cost them twenty dollars for two meals when they can go to a restaurant and order the same thing and not have to cook it or clean up. I checked a recipe on that site, and I priced the ingredients. Much of it I have on hand. For the additional dollars to purchase the chicken and two other ingredients, I'd end up spending eight dollars for two meals instead of twenty.

I think that if Kate said that she's ordering fifty pounds of organic bird feed because she found a way to grind it up and use it in meatloaf, the sheep would think it's a wonderful idea and want the recipe.

______
I always liked her, thought she was a straight shooter and smarter than the average bear. After all of this, she's really been knocked down a peg or two in my book. I'm not sure why she can't see through this whole thing because she certainly seems to have the intelligence to do so. It's the lack of logical and critical thinking that she's really missing. It's disappointing.

PA Dutch Mom.....that is the accent of the south. Watch Say Yes to the Dress Atlanta and you will hear words pronounced differently. I have a friend from the south and she pronounces poor as per. She will say the curb appeal in that neighborhood is per. Monty also asks the bride if she wants to be jacked up. Where I come from that means to get a beating or be high on caffeine. It is interesting the differences we have.

----------------------------------------

Megyn, just like other Fox news reporters, always talks about how "bad" liberals are. That seems to be their agenda. They "shit stir", but believe they are right at all times.

I had on Fox News the other night, when the story about the shootings in Louisiana hit during Megyn's show. One of the first things she asked a reporter from the scene was "Is there any indication that ISIS was involved?"

WTF? It seemed like she hoped that ISIS was involved, so they would have more to add to their hate rants against "liberals" and blame them for the shooting, because the "liberals" are doing nothing as far as ISIS is concerned.

Turns out the guy was a gun-toting "conservative" just like them.

Admin (#192), and I would think the girls "probably" not understanding adds an extra dimension of horror to the attack. To be a victim of a
sexual assault, then process it, and move on is a sequence of events one can get their mind around (although the second steps can take years, if they're ever even fully completed). But to have something horrible happen that you didn't know was horrible -- at the hands of your very own brother? Who may have chosen you as a victim specifically because you may not have known what was going on?
Or because he figured your family loyalty would buy your silence?
Just my humble opinion.

I worry about a sexual assault victim hearing the Duggar daughters
downplay what happened to them and think, "Yikes -- their brother
molested them, and they've gotten over it, and think it's no big
deal. Maybe I shouldn't even talk about what happened to me."

IMO the anger towards the daughters is because 1. people think they are lying when they say they don't remember, 2. people feel the daughters were just spewing the party line,(what ever the Dad said to say) 3. they were making a last ditch attempt to save their pathetic show. 4. the hypocrisy of their bible-thumping, holier-than-thou attitude.

There were many reasone to be angry at those girls.

Exactly, it's not "less" horrifying if a child doesn't understand. It's just a different kind of horror. It indicates the child is of such tender years that they can't even PROCESS or grasp what is happening or what happened, and that in itself, Michelle, is horrific.

Yes, and also that they're letting their brother have them do their dirty work.

Speak for yourself Josh. Man up and take ownership of your problems.

I think one can be both angry/disappointed in these adult women while still having sympathy for the victims. In many ways the anger is an offshoot of that sympathy, because it shouldn't be this way for them. I think Megyn rather thinks these emotions are mutually exclusive. Or that being angry at them for all of the above is like being angry at them because this happened to them or that they chose to speak about it--that's not what this is.
