If it were just for one episode, pretending to give back, it seems strange that he would ditch. I think there was more to it than that, although a charity-themed episode most certainly could have been a part of it.
I find it sort of suspicious that it was ET that got this "exclusive". ET was also the one who got the exclusive on the pictures of Kate and Jeff on their "date".
Perhaps, Jeff, himself is the "source" for this story. How did ET get the exclusive pictures of him and his new girlfriend?
I think he's just using Kate for the publicity. Maybe he wanted to go on the show and Kate and TLC both refused.
What better way to get his name back out there again by saying that he dumped Kate. He makes it seem like she's the difficult one and is the one to blame, and he comes across as the good guy who values his family privacy, etc, etc.

I think many of us commented when Jeff Millionaire entered the
picture that TFW may have met her match with someone who
was more cunning and opportunistic than she was. He may be
more of a "big picture" guy, who can scheme and plot for things
down the line. Whereas TFW is more about immediate
gratification, grifting bathing suits and burritos on an as-needed
basis ("Bathing Suits and Burritos" -- sounds like an episode title!).
You know, the older sKate gets, the less likely it is that she'll find a man she can boss around like she did 23 year old Jon. That's a real problem abusers have. Time marches on and you have an ever-shrinking pool of naive people to chose from. You might fool them for a little while, but they wise up quickly. People get older and wiser and see the warnings signs long before they're in too deep.
The kids get older and wiser too. The control is slipping out of her fingers every single day.
Well, Jeff Millionaire did not meet his current squeeze this past Labor Day weekend which proves he and Kate were not a serious item and most likely their relationship was business with sex as a side dish. This guy and Kate played it...they leaked to the tabloids that they were dating, they leaked to a pap where they were dining so it would appear as a date and they may have even fooled TLC. Or not. Maybe TLC was in cahoots the whole time. Nobody ever believed she was dating that dude.
We never got an inkling the guy was going to be filmed, so why the explanation from a "source"? Who gave ET those photos of the chick? Did someone within Jeff's circle threaten to expose him? Many questions.
I'd guess the NYC filming never happened so there was a quick change of plans and thus the outside construction comment. Another renovation. Kate wins again.

So his trouble with Kate started just before the Labor Day weekend which was only two weeks ago, yet he has already been spotted with his new girlfriend in Las Vegas and Hawaii. I'm not believing it for a minute.
I wonder what the script was for the New York trip? Have Kate introduce her "friend" Jeff to the kids and show them having a wonderful time touring the city followed up by an intimate dinner of just the two of them where Jeff proclaims Kate is the most wonderful mom in the world and he would love to spend more time getting to know her and the kids? That would nicely set up a multi-episode special modeled after the old TV series "The Courtship of Eddie's Father" where the kids secretly plot to get Kate and Jeff together as much as possible while fending off other men who show an interest in Kate.
Eventually Kate is going to have to play the "new daddy" card to regenerate interest in the show and I think the plan with Jeff was part of it. Too bad for Kate that Jeff finally figured out Kate's stalkers would be on him for years and would likely hurt his business.

TLC may have done some construction project as a consolation prize, but that's not a long-term thing. What Kate needed was a good story line to revive interest in her show. The Jon and Kate relationship was a big part of the draw, and without him, that grown-up interaction and relationship drama is gone. Now all the show has to offer is a single mom telling the camera again and again how exhausted and put-upon she is with 8 kids. Yeah, we got it-- the first show, and the second, and the third...enough of that!
Jeff's kids may be in their 20s, but that doesn't mean he isn't basing his decision (in part) on them. I have kids in their 20s, and I wouldn't want to do anything that might humiliate them.
The story line was probably Kate whisking the kids away to NYC to meet her new man while some construction was going on back at home. Then Jeff backed out. With no life-altering meeting with the new guy to film, she was stuck at home doing laundry instead. TLC may not have even paid for the construction if they didn't get to film it as part of a story line. Where's the benefit to them?

Their so-called relationship was soooo leaked as a buildup. This last leak from a "source" was probably what was a compromise by TLC, Kate and Jeff. Did he sign a contract? I bet he did because of the reference to the advice of "his team" (i.e. lawyers) so that is why I think there was a contract and TLC agreed not to sue or plenty would come out, LOL...a manufactured romance to boost ratings.

More like deduction than speculation. He has not been spotted filming with her. He was supposedly going to film with her in NYC but backed out. Therefore he would be introduced, at least to the public, as being with her in some form or other.

The suitor angle is informed speculation. The article said Jeff was scheduled to film as part of the Kate +8 show in New York City during Labor Day but backed out at the last minute. It didn't specifically say he was supposed to be her boyfriend, but that would be the most logical conclusion. Showing Kate meting with Jeff and only discussing their plans for a nonprofit venture would not make for good reality TV, nor would you think it would be any cause for Jeff to be concerned about how his appearance on the show could affect his kids.
While there is no direct quote confirming it I think it is a reasonable assumption that whether or not Jeff actually was involved with Kate, given the tabloid articles linking them together romantically he knew that aspect would be played up on the show. I don't think he backed out at the last second because he thought he was going to be portrayed in a professional, platonic manner. He had to know the only reason for his inclusion was to be portrayed as the potential replacement dad.

For all of you who intend on watching the new shows if they're aired, you have a new task.
Try and find all the places in the other shows where a romance is hinted at. Sleuth out all the continuity issues. Seems like Rat Claws bailed at the last minute. If all the film in the can so far was leading up to the long weekend, there may have to be a shit-load of editing to change the narrative. Is TLC going to spend more money redoing the couch interviews or will they hang her out to dry?
Should be good for a laugh or two.

No, that is Jon's account and the ROL article is accurate. One of his friends posted on his own page a link to the ET article about Kate and Jeff, and Jon responded with the "hands up" emoji.
I saw the link on Jon's friend's page and Jon's response. Clicking on Jon's name in his response goes directly to Jon's FB page.
You'll have to take my word for it because I prefer not to give out the name of Jon's friend.

Ot I finally watched the DWTS premiere. Poor Tony, he is stuck with a tentative dancer with no rhythm. Louis and Pauler definitely rehearsed that greeting, come to mama's bosom! And yet conveniently, she doesn't address, or deny, whether this guy was intended to just be on the show as a fake boyfriend love interest, etc. There's proof she had dinner with him, why not deny the rumors he was going to be on the show?
If Jeff was supposed to be introduced as a new love interest, that shows that somebody is very worried about the show and knows that it needs something new to keep it afloat. I'm guessing Kate, and maybe TLC is in on it. Ratings are crappy, and there's no reason to think that will change. Kate is desperate to keep the show going, and she'll do anything to increase viewership. What's missing from her show that is present in every successful reality show? An adult relationship of some sort. People tuned in to see the interaction between her and Jon (and to see the cute toddlers). She can't de-age the kids, she can't just pop out another litter, so she needs a man. Enter Jeff--she said in the beginning that they were involved in some business deal. The business deal was him playing the role of her love interest. She sold the idea to TLC, and TLC--after losing the Duggars--was just desperate enough to give it a try. And Jeff walked. Just like Jon, he grew a pair and walked away.
Imagine how this relationship would have played out. How long before she started slapping him around? How long until she started criticizing his weight, the way he talked, the way he breathed? It's not like they were going to get married, so at some point the relationship has to end. And then the Kate-fans would spend years bashing him for leaving Kate, abandoning the kids (he would of course be portrayed as a potential stepfather), hounding every woman he dated. While Kate made the talk show rounds, poking at her eyes and playing victim. Maybe his kids warned him off, and he should be thankful someone did.
And now Kate is back to square one. A stale, failing show and no interesting story line to save it. I hope it cost TLC a bundle to have to scrap everything at the last minute. They deserve it for falling for Kate's manipulation in the first place. Just desserts.

I had to laugh. As I read this, there is a television commercial advertising the Addiction Hope hotline, with those successfully completing the program giving their testimonies.
I guess Milo was not enrolled in that program because she didn't have the toll free number, or maybe she just doesn't want help because there is no hope.
Once again Kate cagily issues a denial but skirts around the facts. Still trying to figure out why someone decided to unload with ET. There were no indications that Jeff was going to be filmed anyway so why does this come out? The deal, and I believe we are correct, was that Jeff was her pretend boyfriend (publicity) and it went south.
Usually she is silent, just like the tabloid's pointing out her diamond ring and exclaiming she is engaged to Jeff. LOL, it was a ring she wears often. She certainly let that lie continue.
This time her masterminding did not work. Wonder what TLC is going to do?
