Jacob Roloff: "Just because the adults say it's what's best, doesn't mean it's what's best"

The youngest star of TLC's Little People, Big World, who has been filming the show since he was about seven years old, has been speaking out more frequently about his dislike of filming and his desire to protect other reality stars from a childhood played out on T.V. screens

Jacob recently met Jack Hamill, star of Our Little Family. Jacob had this to say on Instagram about the encounter (click to enlarge):

The post garnered more than 2,500 likes in less than fourteen hours. (On average, Jacob's Instagram posts get 800-1200 likes each).

Well done, Jacob, and keep speaking out. You have a unique perspective not many others can claim to possess

Why is the administrator of this blog above criticism?

&&&&

I don't think anyone is saying anyone is above criticism. But most blogs around the internet have a rule that posters are not allowed to go after people personally. It almost always derails a blog even if you are trying to be constructive. It's sort of like in real life if you are having some issues, you go into a room with that person, close the door and discuss it like adults. There is an email button and if someone wants to have a dialogue about the blog or a person they can email me. It's more about creating a friendly environment and a place where people feel free to express opinions without feeling like they are going to be attacked personally. That's the sort of blog I want, which is why personal attacks are discouraged.

Trump's the only one on this stage being real and honest. F yes I will run as an independent if I don't get the nomination, I'm just being honest.

This is why he is soaring in the polls. People would rather you be honest. Even if they don't like what you're saying, they want you to be honest about it.

____________
Yes, and love him or hate him, he's telling it like it is. Kelly is doing her best to get under his skin. She knows that he doesn't like much of what is done in the press and this seems to be her way of getting him. It's not working. She just comes off as being desperate.

He's telling it like it is. Mexico is playing us like a fiddle with illegal immigration and we're being stupid and just looking the other way.

I just know being in a border state that some people feel that way too and respond to someone validating that. He's really saying the sort of things that large groups of voters can get behind. When you look at his numbers, he's soaring at the borders.

This is so transparent. This is her "hitting it out of the park". She's fake and it's obvious. A genuine person would have been doing stuff like this from the get-go, not running around bitching about having to be nice to people.

Too little, too late.

Megyn isn't as well researched as she should be.

When Trump said I didn't say that the way you're framing it, she had no comeback. She needs to have known exactly what he said when he said it so she could engage with him. She needed to research more.

Anyone remember that Canadian interviewer Brian Linehan? His research before interviews was incredible. He would remember films people had done that they don't even remember and would be able to cite the full cast, what the press said about the movie, what the celeb said in the press about it, and rattle off the first and middle names of all their kids!

I mean that was extreme, but it's the sort of well researched interviewer we need far more of these days.

Kate should have enough money to stop filming. I can't figure out how rich she must be. But she must be an even worse person when she is not getting her ego stroked by filming. She needs cameras and not waiting in line and having Steve carry her purse to feel special. Being a mom doesn't do it. Being in a relationship with Steve or Mr Millionaire (where is he these days?) doesn't do it. She has no job, no volunteering, no family left, apparently no church. To her, filming is all that matters. Until those children are old enough to leave, they will be dragged to beaches and zoos and bounce zones.

If I were TLC, I'd pay less and less. She won't say no. They are cutting back on the trips and perks somewhat. I would say PA and NJ only and pay her very little.

Add to that his house burned, he had to stay with someone else for a couple of more months while I found a rental that allowed dogs and with only a 8 month lease, furnished, and utilities included. Not easy. We are back in the house now, but he is so different. I don't personally want to go anywhere after I die if my pets won't be there to be with me. My comment he was telling it like it is was as I said, specifically about how much smarter and more cunning Mexico is versus American officials who turn a blind eye to the massive amount of criminals and other bad people and the drug trade they're shuttling up here. I don't see anything racist about that comment. Or bullying or sexist.

I think he probably is racist, definitely sexist, and a bully, on some topics. I also think he's the only guy up there with the exception of Carly Fiorina, who is being who they really are. I think we need to listen to Americans when they're responded to that. I don't know if they are so much saying they agree with what he is saying. He actually got booed a ton at the debates. But they are responding to someone telling their own truth, tearing down political correctness, not tiptoeing around trying to be a perfect middle of the road celebrity politician who pleases everyone never offends anyone or anything and gets elected but never had a sincere bone in their body and goes on to accomplish virtually nothing. Maybe we should listen. If everyone else on that stage pledged to just be themselves, I think Trump would be left in the dust.

Yes. She totally has not clue about TFWs freebies, exploitation, abuse (beyond "losing her shit"), and lies.

I was reading that whole "mommittment" thing and it to me is ridiculous. Today's moms need to get over themselves; they act like they were the first people to mother anyone and that mothering is the hardest most praiseworthy thing ever.

Of course I have a right to judge a mother like TFW. Just like I have a right to judge Casey Anthony, Diane Downs, and any other mother I see who is harming their children.

People are sick and tired of that crap and want a change. They want to know what his views are and that he's not afraid to speak them. I do think that he's a good negotiator and would know how to get the job done, whatever that would be. Sometimes it takes a successful businessman to take a stand and not back down. I must have watched a different debate than some others. I do believe Trump was being his authentic self, but I heard no substance whatsoever in his answers to the questions. I cannot take a candidate seriously when his arguments are based on very simplistic, almost childlike, reasoning.

In the 10-minute lead-in to the debate, the moderators were absurd. It was very uncomfortable to watch. They were unprofessional and giggly and silly as they tried to fill time, and it was very off-putting. It felt like they were presiding over a parade rather than a serious function.

As the debate started, the first question about who would or would not pledge to support the eventual Republican candidate was clearly directed specifically at Trump. But I did not see it as an attack. I saw it as a legitimate question that would be extremely important for many undecided Republican voters to know the answer to, especially for the majority of voters who have probably not been paying a great deal of attention to election coverage this early in the process. But Trump gets no points from me for honesty on this issue. He had no choice but to raise his hand because he has been very loudly declaring that he is seriously considering running as an Independent if he doesn't get the nomination.

While Megyn Kelly will never be confused with Walter Cronkite or Ted Koppel, her question about Trump's treatment of women was warranted. His answer that he thinks we are too politically correct was ridiculous. His demeaning words to and about women have nothing to do with political correctness and everything to do with disrespect and condescension. His response was infuriating.

Trump's whining after the debate that he got tough questions was ridiculous. There were many tough questions asked of the other candidates as well, including questions about Iraq, Isis, national security, medicare and gay rights.

I think the clear winners last night were John Kasich and Marco Rubio. Kasich, in particular, came across as articulate, prepared, relatable and empathetic. I heard that Carly Fiorina was also fabulous in the earlier debate.

Yeah, I guess he is a little childlike. But entertaining, as children often are.

In seriousness, I like trying to break down what voters are responding to and maybe his simplicity is exactly what is appealing to them. They want a simple, straight answer, even if maybe it's too simple to be realistic. When someone says well that's too complicated to just break down that easily, I think voters don't like that, even if that's the truth.

This country is something like 18 trillion in debt. If it takes a Donald Trump to be able to make things right again, then so be it. I don't care if it's a game show or if he's a narcissist. One thing he's not is anyone's puppet.

In the late 80s his business was bankrupt and his personal finances weren't much better, but gosh darn it, he restructured and emerged successful from that disaster. I think we need someone who knows economics to really turn things around here. Can he do it? I have no idea, but I bet he would give it his best shot because he doesn't like to fail.

Months ago I thought he was a blow-hard, a joke, and an annoying narcissist. I surprised myself in doing a turn around. The more I read about him, listen to him, research his views, the more I realize that this guy just may be what is needed right now. Heaven knows we don't need another Bush or a Huckabee in the White House, and I'd never vote for Hillary. She scares me much more than Trump ever did, because I think she's sneaky and shady with no transparency whatsoever.

He's a narcissist bully. He has no verbal filter-- which a politician must have dealing with foreign policy issues.

And damn, if he got elected, he'd want to be sworn, instead of Hail to the Chief, the band would play Money Money Money.

God help us if he elected.

Remember readerlady, Heffner Rd. would ask those questions like they were hollering and in a panic? Didn't Pink post there? and is Pink and Jacket, is that the same poster?

While Megyn Kelly will never be confused with Walter Cronkite or Ted Koppel, her question about Trump's treatment of women was warranted.

-------
With all of the country's problems and issues facing us, including immigration, economics, healthcare, poverty, unemployment, and international problems such as terrorism, I'm not sure how a question such as Donald's attitude toward women would have been high on the agenda. Kelly wanted to go after him and that was how she chose to do it. If the moderators wanted to dig into the character of the candidates. why not ask Mike Huckabee why he chose to dismiss Josh Duggar's acts of molestation as nothing more than a little past mistake?

Somewhere In Time said...

But Trump gets no points from me for honesty on this issue. He had no choice but to raise his hand because he has been very loudly declaring that he is seriously considering running as an Independent if he doesn't get the nomination.

-----------
Of course he had a choice. He could have lied like so many of them do, and then reversed his stance when and if the time warranted it. He could have figured a way to get out of it if he were sly and shifty.

I'm afraid that voters are responding to name recognition and bombast. I would fear for your country were he to become president. 8888888888888888888888888888888888

Do you believe that? The alley where his body was found was directly below their 6th floor apartment. I suspected cause of death was a "fall" type of death and just naturally went to suicide. I don't know what I think about the sleepwalking theory. It's weird enough to be true. I guess we'll never know. How could anyone break his mother's heart by stating it was suicide? Either case would be an opportunity to talk about real problems, either sleepwalking or depression and suicide.

His partner, Chris, was in bed and was awakened by the police so he was home at the time. I've heard conflicting reports as to whether or not police are still investigating. Such a strange story.

EX NURSE I am so sorry. I am down to one dog now, and the loss of the one last year has completely changed the behavior of the one I have left
-----
Border Collie--what a terrible time you have had! I had a year like that when a contractor caused a massive backup. We had to move out of the house and board our 2 dogs (1 was Max) By the time we got back in the house, my other dog had developed an inoperable tumor, and had to be put down. I hope things stabilize for you now that you are back in the house. Darwin has been moping around the house with his tail at half mast. We are heading to Portland to see my daughter and her goofy big dog this weekend. She just bought a house on the river, and Darwin is an avid swimmer, so hopefully will ease his mind a bit. I think the prospect of taking care of me is weighing on him!

I just want to add one more thing--my ex-husband was with our family when we said our goodbyes. We shared some memories about the day we brought him home and. Had a good cry together. We are also co-grandpa renting for part of my time with my grandson, and he is so great with him. And, though things went terribly wrong between us, he has always been a very caring dad. As I have said before, he has an NPD diagnosis and is in recovery for alcoholism. So, people can change and improve--but it takes bottoming out, humility and a lot of hard work to make amends for the damage that was caused. For my part, it takes forgiveness and willingness to admit my own contribution to the dysfunction in our relationship. I know others have not had that experience with the narcs in their lives, but Injust want it out there that there iis the possibility for change.

She did acknowledged the suicide speculation, but said he was very happy and believes he was sleepwalking and fell to his death.

If it is something more sinister, the facts will eventually surface I am sure. The Toronto police are not treating it as a criminal matter, but the case is still under investigation.

I'd be curious what the local laws are about making a beach "private." In many parts of CA you can't just say a beach is private. The public is always allowed to come on it right up to the mean tide line. A fantasy beach house sounds fun on paper but be aware strangers can be walking in your backyard all day and night if they like!

For some reason this reminds me of this great documentary The Staircase where they thought the husband pushed his wife down the stairs and killed her. The husband was convicted, but there was a lot of evidence that the wife might have been attacked by a stray owl and fell down the stairs in a panic. If you want to see a sociopath watch that one!!

So I changed his mind.

True or not, it makes sense to me. I've never seen someone explain a flip flop so well. Usually they try to explain how it's actually NOT a flip flop. He owns the flip flop and explained exactly why he changed his mind. Take it or leave it but the public is loving this guy.

Trump is attacking Fox and Megyn Kelly all over the place. He feels that the questions were "unfair" and "vicious". He was interviewed by Don Lemon on CNN. This is a summary of what he said:

"In an interview with Don Lemon on "CNN Tonight," Trump on Friday accused Fox of asking "vicious," unfair questions at the debate and called Kelly "overrated."

Kelly had pressed Trump about misogynistic, sexist comments in his past.

On CNN, Trump called the questions "ridiculous," called her "off-base," and said, "You could see there was blood coming out of her eyes. Blood coming out of her wherever."

Trump told Lemon that he didn't know whether he'd participate in a future Fox debate. "I might not, to be honest," he said. "I didn't think they were fair."

Does anybody think what I'm thinking about the part of his statement that I bolded?

Oh for goodness sake. They didn't make the beach private. They blocked off a small area, just as they would if there were a wedding going on. It's no different than getting a permit to film on a public street. That permit allows you to temporarily block off "public" areas.

Once again, much ado about absolutely nothing.

&&&

Not much ado. Just discussing a photo that was just posted of a sign, nothing more nothing less.

Beaches are often public parks. You likely would have to obtain a permit to set up shop. Maybe they did indeed get their permits, but the sign seems rather rinky dink.

As I recall about Florida child labor laws, they are very meager, but do require certain signs posted listing them, if I am remembering correctly from our research when they went to Disney. Did they have another sign for the labor laws posted somewhere on the beach?

I didn't think the questions were all that vicious, and he did well. The interviewers were actually kind of bumbling and he made Megyn look stupid when she was caught not having done her research. What's he busting a aneurysm over this? Calm down. He's still leading in the polls, the debate went great for him! Poor Trump, he can never just ride the wave.

With all of the country's problems and issues facing us, including immigration, economics, healthcare, poverty, unemployment, and international problems such as terrorism, I'm not sure how a question such as Donald's attitude toward women would have been high on the agenda.
__________________________________

A question concerning how a potential candidate for POTUS treats or denigrates or reacts to or dismisses or disrespects the majority segment of the population is extremely relevant. If elected, his disrespectful attitude toward women could have a direct bearing on legislation that affects women.

Women make up more than half of the population of the US. Women vote in higher numbers than men. Women voting is why President Obama was elected. But women are still fighting for equality of wages. Women's healthcare issues continue to be routinely dismissed and underfunded. As recently as a few days ago, Jeb Bush stated “I’m not sure we need half a billion dollars for women’s health issues.” And all those serious problems you mentioned - immigration, economics, healthcare, poverty, unemployment, and international problems such as terrorism - affect women just as severely, and often moreso, as they affect men.

So, yes. I want to know whether a candidate will take women's issues seriously. I want to know if a candidate views women as trophies and second-class citizens, or as valuable contributors to our society who deserve respect.

I truly believe Trump missed a golden opportunity when MK asked him that question. He went on the defensive immediately when he could have just as easily answered the question by saying that he is an equal opportunity offender of both women and men. He could have cited statistics on his track record regarding hiring or promoting women. He could have talked about any policies his companies have that specifically benefit women. Instead, he chose to wave his hands and make a joke and put on his usual mocking act. It just showed that he is unprepared and ill-equipped to hold our highest office.

Great comment. All in all, I think Trump looked like an ass with his shock talk. I'm pretty conservative in my politics and I'd vote for any of the other candidates that were in the debate last night over Trump. He's a spoiler and acting extremely immature, especially now hearing he's whining that he might not participate in another Fox debate because last night's was unfair. Perhaps people are enjoying that he's telling it like it is, (so were a few of the other candidates, btw) but there MUST be a better presentation. Go away Donald.

Now, as an adult, he has to live with the knowledge that people can see all of the ups and downs on he had while growing up on TV. I am happy that he is finding his place in the world and rising above his childhood.

The empty beach makes it look like the viewers are supposed to think it's more posh and private than it really is. It's the viewers' perceptions I was thinking about. That's all.

I came across this quote by Neil Gaiman:

"I was reading a book (about interjections, oddly enough) yesterday which included the phrase “In these days of political correctness…” talking about no longer making jokes that denigrated people for their culture or for the colour of their skin. And I thought, “That’s not actually anything to do with ‘political correctness’. That’s just treating other people with respect.”

Which made me oddly happy. I started imagining a world in which we replaced the phrase “politically correct” wherever we could with “treating other people with respect”, and it made me smile."

I think people are glomming on to DT when he says he's not going to be "politically correct", and they're calling him "blunt", but that doesn't excuse the fact that he's speaking like a racist and a misogynist. So, he's alienated Latinos and women. That's an awful lot of voters. He's running a sprint. Like sKate, I don't think he'll finish the marathon.

Very interesting thoughts on political correctness.

I do think there is a difference between being rude, nasty, racist or sexist, vs. being politically incorrect. Trump wants everyone to think everything he is criticized for is because of political incorrectness. That's true for some things, but not all.

When I think of being politically incorrect I think of someone saying we should close the border at Mexico and depot everyone, and someone else saying that's racist.

I saw a huge red flag yesterday when he said that if Fox doesn't start asking fair questions he won't participate in the next debate.

He needs to be in that debate to continue on. It's essential. It felt like he wanted an "out" and was making something out of nothing to give himself a way to get out of all this and quit. The questions were not THAT bad.

I kind of wonder if this is all just something he is doing for fun because he was bored. Now that he's become a serious contender for the nomination he's not so sure he actually wants this job. It's a huge job, huge, and I think he likes running his businesses, being a celebrity, making TV shows, and everything else he does.

What will he do the first week of his presidency when he doesn't get what he wants? Pack up his blocks and go back to NYC?

I see what you mean, but wouldn't you then close all the borders, not just the one with Mexico? Skating on a very thin line with that one, IMO.

In Canada, PC seems different. We've go too far in the other direction. Our politicians are telling us that immigrants find our traditions offensive, so we should suppress them. We can't call it Christmas etc. It's not the immigrants who want this. It's politicians wrongly trying to cater to too many people and they end up alienating instead.

As my dad used to say to us kids, "Why can't you all just get along?"

It is a fine line, but I think it's a statement you could back up with reasoning that is not racist. You could say we need to close it because of our problems with the drug trade and illegal immigration, as Trump did.

Although some drugs and illegals cross our Canadian borders, it doesn't even begin to compare to what happens at the Mexican border. Thus no one's picking on Canada!

What terrifies me is seeing him on the world stage, dealing with complex issues around the planet. So much of what is happening in the world cannot be solved by throwing money at it. Trump seems to believe that because he is successful in business this would qualify him as a diplomatic figure. Understanding and respecting the policies of other governments around the world is crucial to the delicate balance of peace and security. Frankly, the idea of this man sitting in the White House is more than a worry, it's frightening. His controlling nature and narcissism may work just fine in a business environment where everyone he deals with - boardmembers, stockholders, employees, vendors - all have the same goal: to make as much money as possible. But it will not work in government where he will have to bring together people with completely opposing views, needs and desires. He is not capable of that. He also doesn't like to be questioned and is not capable of reasoned discourse with people who disagree with him. So as criticisms mount against him, he will get to boo-hoo and claim that his critics are idiots, and then exit the race with plenty of parting shots and bravado.

I went back and watched the first part of the debate, and Megyn really launched an attack against him and it would have ticked me off, too. Look at her eyes! It was all spitfire. She couldn't wait to fire off that question to him and she was gloating, like, I dare you to answer this one. Come on, come get me.

fidosmommy...173...Can't you just see an American President in a slam-to-slam fight with the President of France or the Saudi King?

I keep picturing Trump "negotiating" with Kim Jong-un. Terrifying.

Donald Trump does not seem to me to have a democratic business style. At work he is THE boss, THE last word, and if you stand to him, you're fired. That doesn't work in the Oval Office or in Congress or at State events with foreign dignitaries. This is not an episode of Celebrity Apprentice where he gets to sit and honk, sneer, glare and cajole a bunch of people who did a lousy job selling his daughter's shoes. The White House is not Trump Tower. There is a certain presence we expect of the most powerful man in the world. And the candidates vying for the title, as well.

It was kind of long, I'm not sure which part upset him so much. Was this the line of questions about his slams against women or something else?

Yes, the "pigs" comment.

It looked to me like entrapment, like she (and the moderators) wanted to get him fired up, just to see what he was going to say. I didn't take the "blood or wherever" comment as anything but him saying that she was out for blood, which she clearly was.

I'm not defending what he said, or has said in the past. I just think that the media will find a way to twist whatever he says from now on...until he pulls out of the campaign, and probably after that! He is, and has always been, polarizing.

Speaking of "fired up," is Gladys MIA again? She usually goes off and sulks when Kate ignores her or is away, but this seems long, even for Kravitz.

Oh goodie, another Gosselin PukeFest!!
Have fun rocking and rolling on that fishing boat!

The words "lather, rinse, repeat" don't do this justice.

I think it's funny that Kate is being tailed by someone(s). They are photographed everywhere they good.

Good.

My best friend's son is a VP for a PR firm in Manhatten. He actually knows Donald Trump and has had to work with him in his office in Trump Tower. He says that Donald is just as egotistical in private as he is in public. He says he thinks he is an asshole who actually swore a lot during their meetings and is difficult to work with if you disagree with him.

I hope the puke fest was this morning because there are storms going through there right now, with a temperature of 95 degrees and heat index of 115.

Hey, Kate...it's 79 here with the heat index the same temp and going down to a nice 59 and breezy tonight. Great sleeping weather!

I'll vote for Trump only if Rosie O'Donnell is his VP choice.

I like political debates as long as they are thoughtful, present various views, and respectful. Name-calling such as this isn't typical of this blog and I think it's getting rather nasty and offensive to those who support a candidate, and not necessarily Trump.

You have the right to vote for an asshole and Angie has the right to call someone an asshole. Isn't freedom beautiful?
