Someone on Kate's twitter linked her satellite interview with Oprah.
"We don't film in the kids room. It's a rule. They need their privacy"
"We don't film on Sunday because we go to church".

&&&&

Thank you someone on Kate's twitter!

I KNEW she said that about the bedrooms. I said as much in my recap. I just couldn't remember where or when, and I was unable to find the statement via google.

Thank you again.

So what changed? Why is it okay to film in their bedrooms now? I thought they needed privacy?

It's hard to believe you could dumb down K8's show, but Milo seems to have a knack:

@Kateplusmy8 @TLC Well...we are less than 2hrs away! I've been ready ALL DAY! Who is gonna win? The tups or maybe a twin? Countdown 9pm!

If I were Kate, I would ask her to kindly back the f--- off. Her Gomer Pyle-like enthusiasm for all things Kate sounds almost like snark.

Sue-Buddy- thanks for recommending Making a Murderer. I watched one episode and am hooked. It reminds me a bit of "In Cold Blood", the book not the movie.

&&&&

I've been watching it too and loving it. I'm tempted to just binge it out, but I'm trying to ration it as one episode a day and make it last. :) I'm a sucker for true crime and this is great holiday week viewing. For the twisted anyway!

Here's the Oprah satellite interview with J+K. The whopping lies start at about minute 5-6.
Jon looks so checked out, and Kate is in all her glory.
This was done when their marriage was already kaput, and Kate was branching out on her own, in her "mine all mine" house.
It's sad to see the whole family there in the house, knowing Jon wasn't even living in it at the time. Apparently, never had.

That Oprah interview must have been before the divorce. Now that she is a widow, she makes up the rules. No Jon to interfere.

Oh, I'm sure the little ones felt free to yell "cut" to a grown-up crew member to stop filming, with their gestapo mother there. Why give her another reason to try to "happy them up?"

And we all saw that the twins' homemade misspelled No Cameras Allowed sign still didn't give them the privacy they wanted. Sigh.

Gladys has a freaky obsession with beds, bathrooms, underwear and showers. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if it turned out to be an 80 year old recluse living by himself with a television, his computer and a pair of high-power binoculars, and a rusty AMC 1970 Gremlin parked in the front yard.

I seem to remember an episode at the old house when one of the boys was showing his brother a small toy (that he was maybe hiding in a pocket?) and they asked the crew to go away. They didn't, they continued to film was was supposed to be a secret moment between brothers.

The toddler tups were spontaneous. All that is gone. They are not just living their lives now. They adhere to production planning and rehearsed lines, and those rehearsed lines are not delivered well. The show is a loser.

In a September 12, 2006 entry, the mother of eight discussed filming then 5-year-old Mady and Cara‘s first day of kindergarten for the very first season of their TLC reality series.

A producer “wants to film Friday as if it were the first day of school,” Gosselin wrote.

However, the girls actually began school two weeks prior. (On August 30, she said she felt “old and very privileged” with the twins going off to kindergarten the next day.)

@angelanprimm I can tell you: our show IS REALITY. It’s our real life that we r actively living. No redos or ‘lines’ no matter what u read!

And really? The Gosselin kids were never fed lines and spontaneously said, in unison, "On this episode of J+K+8"?
They all spontaneously decide to go to the basement couch and just have fireside chats?

And, at the time, the kids were so young! The idea a little child that young is emotionally mature enough to understand and assert his privacy rights is absurd.

Sure sometimes they are able to say no cameras, and have. Other times a kid may feel frustrated, uncomfortable, uneasy, but either is not able to understand it's because of the filming or even if they do understand it, may not be able to explain that or stand up for themselves--because they are just a CHILD. That's what PARENTS are for.

If kids were perfectly capable of protecting their own rights on their own, there would be no laws about parents having to consent for them. Kate is a hot mess.

Didn't watch tonight's episode, but Milo has glommed on to the fact that Shoka--"the 9th child"--was missing from tonight's episode and is trying to get a response out of Momster as to his whereabouts. Others are up in arms because Momster and the twins invaded the boys' bedroom, went thru their belongings, and made fun of them.

Labeling lunch containers? Why? These children are not as stupid as she thinks they are. And I am not fooled for a minute that they are allowed to choose what's in their lunches. She only needs 3 colors: twins, tup girls, and tup boys. That's how she sorts them all the time and probably determines what's for lunch.

I agree. I'm guessing she doesn't send a sandwich, apple and 2 cookies in a brown paper lunch sack. The individual plastic boxes that keep the yogurt out of the triangulary chippy thingies is more Kate's style. One kid wants pretzels and grapes, one wants Chex mix and cherry 'mators. I can understand the need for some planning and labeling. I give her a pass.

I am watching the second showing of Kate's show. WE CALLED IT...AS USUAL. It is Kate not her 8 kids who is ALWAYS talking about her dating. While shopping with Mady, Cara, and Deanna, there were two mannequins at two different stores and Kate asked which man would be better for her. Then Mady says on the couch that Kate is ALWAYS talking about dating. And Mady really drove this point home.It wasn't just a passing comment. Yep, just like we all knew, it is common sense her 8 kids are not always asking her about dating out of the blue. She is such a liar. She has gone on every talk show the past few years stating this lie.

And the show is so boring. It really is. This episode has three themes: antique shopping, cooking with the kids, and going to see little horses. Obviously the crew did not get any interesting footage on any of these outings so they combined them.

Any there was filming in both Mady and Cara's bedrooms.

Kate said the following words: gappage (gap); randomest(randon) and antiquey (antique). What a idiot.

And her freaking nails are so gross and you can tell she LLLLOOOOVVVESSS them. Her hands are all over the screen. She thinks she is so interesting when she explains in details the mundane happenings in the show. I can't wait until the rating plummet more and more. And she continually makes these faces that make her look like she is on the verge of getting sick. Why? She obviously sees herself on tv making these faces and they are not attractive at all. In fact, I really do not think Kate is pretty at all. She is above average but not pretty. She reminds me of Carol Burnett in looks. And gee, Carol got a chin implant just like Kate did.

And boy does Mady really have her number. She puts her down all the time. And Andrea just HAPPENED to be there the day that they were cooking and Deanna was there when they went shopping. The kids are 11 and 15 and she just needs a helper...my goodness. She has a film crew following her. Nobody is going to snatch her kids. I bet Steve was there too. She is just helpless and a weak mother and woman.

Number one, they're right, it IS a reflection of Kate and it's absurd the way she lets them speak to her and doesn't correct them. And I think she doesn't correct them because she knows they have her over a barrel. She can't afford upsetting them too much because they'll turn around and say fine, don't like the way I speak? Then I won't film. And she KNOWS IT.

Second, I love me a good fleecing!

Kate wanted to narrate the cooking competition but the kids would not let her. Ha, Mady said she would just criticize and she is so right. So she and Andrea took to the dining room organizing stuff.

And Kate said she did research on the little horses (I think that is what they are called) and she thinks they can sleep on a cushion like Shoka in the house. A horse in the house! REALLY!!!! Again, her stupidity is unreal. Then she meets a woman who actually owns a little horse and the woman talked so over Kate's head about caring for one that Kate even admitted she was lost. I can't believe she led her kids to think that they may have gotten one as a pet. Anything for an episode I guess.

I rarely look at Kate's twitter but tonight I did. This tweet is disgusting: Kate Gosselin @hayleyXX everyday from Dec 5, I wrap 4 at least an hour! It takes up my entire room and I gain major square footage after Christmas!

What entitled, spoiled kids she is raising. Her 8 children are not going to be able to give their kids anything close to what they received as children/teens. Their kids will not receive the numerous trips, huge house and acreage, and all the "stuff" Kate threw at them to control them. And her kids will realize that all the above was not needed to have a great life. Even if all her 8 kids are all professionals with great jobs they will not be able to provide like TLC did for them. Kate is spoiling her kids with TLC millions and it is so wrong. Did you see the big, pink stuffed horse one of the kids bought in Florida to bring back. Kate took it out of one of the kids hands and packed it for them. I mean how many hundreds of stuff animals do these kids need. Of course, that was in addition to the headrest stuff animals.

I think Kate is intentionally spoiling them to win them to her side. She has to out give Jon and prove to her kids that filming is worth it. She has to have her kids love her more than Jon. Her kids will fall for it now and through their teen years but wait until they are married and earning a working salary. Their salaries will open their eyes to Kate's wrongfulness of entitling them with more and more. No wonder most of her kids are ill behaved. They never had a true chance in a real world without cameras and ratings. This will backfire on her big time.

This is a tweet from Kate: Kate Gosselin
Yes dating jokes are my life. About myself. What are you if you can’t laugh at yourself??? @TLC #KatePlus8

From People: But this June she said on her birthday special, "I want people to stop asking me if I'm dating," the Kate Plus 8 star says decisively. "I would like that to end." Five years after a painful and very public divorce, Kate says the dating question offends her most because it's "a reminder that here I am, it's just me." Just because she isn't a fan of that question, that doesn't mean Kate's not open to dating, but she says being asked repeatedly about it won't change her dating situation.

Gee, Mady said tonight that it is Kate who continually mentions dating to her kids. Kate tonight mentioned dating several times on her episode tonight. And yet she had the gall to say the above about dating this summer. Kate knows that dating is the only thing the public has any interest in when it comes to her life. Kate has played out this dating "card" since 2011. We are going into 2016. No wonder her kids are confused and anxious.

I am hoping that her fake date this season bombs and the world can finally see she has no personality, charisma, or warmth when it comes to dating. Like so many have said on this blog she gives off an asexual vibe.

Yesterday I typed a comment wondering if a TFW
and M outing was just setting the kid up for bad behavior, to get tongues wagging and ratings up. Then I erased it, because it felt mean. Well, it sounds like that's exactly what happened. TFW is willing to sacrifice her flesh and blood to keep from having to get a real job. I just hope the numbers go down again this week.

Labeling lunch containers? Wtf? Get them different lunch boxes and the kids can grab their own lunches out of the fridge in the morning,

So let me get this straight. Suitcases ("We get one vacation a year, if we're lucky") have to be all different, but lunch containers or lunch boxes, which they use 5 times a week for 10 months of the year need labeling? What a doofus.

I don't care whether it's lunch boxes or the containers that go inside, they're 11 and 15. They shouldn't need any kind of labeling. They're not 5.

My thoughts on the M situation:

I think sKate keeps quiet when the cameras are running. M knows this and takes full advantage. My guess is there is plenty of screaming and mouthing off from both of those parties. It's a good thing they're out in the middle of nowhere. The younger kids are watching this and starting to follow suit. It must be deafening in that house.

Got out of work not too long ago. I put "mady" in the Twitter search bar and saw all the tweets about mady and tonight's episode. Not good
*****
I was glancing over at her Twitter and yeesh, even fans were saying, as nicely as possible, that Mady's behavior is unacceptable.
Kate seemed to blow it off as "just Mady being Mady".
OK. Fine.
But, why showcase it for the world to see?
I keep thinking about future bosses and how I'd probably pass her over seeing that nastiness.

I seem to remember an episode at the old house when one of the boys was showing his brother a small toy (that he was maybe hiding in a pocket?) and they asked the crew to go away. They didn't, they continued to film was was supposed to be a secret moment between brothers.
*****
Yup, the boys wanted to sneak around secretly and the damn crew wouldn't stop following them all around their house.
Can you imagine?
*********************************
Even worse, didn't the tup say "close your eyes" thinking nobody would see where he hid the toy? How sad is that?

Might want to correct that action before they try some one with those mouths after they turn 18. If you're not going to correct the action, please don't complain when another adult, teacher, or superior does.

It's already happening. Didn't watch this one, but I'm still in disbelief at how she was screaming and yelling in the escape room. Even in the "not a nanny's" face! Is that one of the conditions of her contract? Tolerate and condone verbal abuse?

Sad but true said... 89

One of the worst parts of filming, for the kids, must be when they actually see how TLC has taken their experiences and cut and pasted them together in a way that does not reflect the reality they've experienced. We've talked about how Kate gaslights them---how much worse when it's being done to you by a major corporation that has a vested interest in how you are presented to the world? Can you imagine sitting on a couch and being encouraged to be "candid" about something only to find later they didn't include it? Or that they ONLY included pieces that made you look terrible? The manipulation that goes on here must literally be mind-bending for these children. I wish they would stop.

Ah, no.
I remember when M+C were on The View and Mady said something snotty to Kate and Kate just laughed it off. Evidently, it's only getting worse.

I swear, this is going to come back to hurt Mady. She's garnering an unsavory reputation that WILL follow her into adulthood.

TLC, and moreover, Kate, has cast Mady as the brat, the bitch, the snotty teen, the ill-tempered and ill-mannered wench.
I'm sure Mady has her loving side. I've seen it on the show. However, allowing Mady to step into Jon's role for the sake of ratings is despicable.
If I were Jon, I'd be pulling my hair out seeing this crap aired for all to see.

Tucker's Mom (#91), remember when you were a kid at school, and were threatened that something would go on your "permanent record?" We only had a vague idea of what that was -- some folder in a dusty vault somewhere? But the internet is the ultimate
permanent record. And M will absolutely, positively suffer in the future from the way her mother has allowed her to be portrayed. Socially, professionally, and emotionally -- that child will be paying for all of this. TFW keeps defending the show's "reality." How does risking your child's future by setting her up to look bad qualify as "reality?"

I think Jon's heart was broken a long time ago. I think he's surrendered with the hopes that he can fix things when the kids come to him for support. As much as I'd like to say I would never give up when it comes to my kids, there is a point where you have to let go to just survive. I think Jon referred to that being the way his parents let him handle their divorce. He'll be there for his kids when they need him the most; when they're old enough to really understand what their mother has done to them.

@kateplusmy8

&&&&

She's got this all ass backwards. We're not talking about a parent entering a child's room. Which by the way is YOUR room in YOUR house that you have placed your child in.

We're talking about a film crew entering the room and filming it for millions. None of these kids, even the teenagers, are old enough or mature enough to fully grasp all the consequences of that. There's just no good reason cameras need to be in the rooms anyway. They can film everything they could possibly need for this show without ever entering the rooms.

These girls play her like a fiddle and it's really incredible. Forcing her to ask for permission to enter is absurd. Obviously out of respect you should knock on the door of a teenager's room, and make sure they have a safe and private place to go in the house that you're not constantly interrupting. But to give the girls' complete control over whether she enters??? She can enter if she damn well wants to and even poke around, especially if she has reason to believe they're up to no good in there. This is how kids get away with drugs, sex and booze, because of parents like her who give them too much privacy. It's time the kids develop a healthy respect for the fact that she is their mother, as screwed up as she may be, this is her household and her rules, not theirs. Giving them all this control may be something kids THINK they want, but in the long run it's not going to make them better kids and we've already seen how they act in response to her parenting style, the consequences are already here.

Do the girls routinely tell her no you can't come in, and it's not for good reason like they are changing? Because that's extremely disrespectful, girls. Grow up.

The radio interview she did was just unbelievable.

She is truly delusional and needs a psych evaluation. Seriously. I wonder if she listened to the hosts comments after she got off the phone. They roasted her.

The male host said to Kate this just fascinates me about the hooked up lights in the house to film and she said, no, no, no. They just come and film, this isn't big brother, THE SAME CREW, very normal, NON-INTRUSIVE, we just go off and do whatever. We have an EVENT. Nothing is planned. IT JUST HAPPENS!!

She said when they left in 2011, 2012ISH, people were asking, where have you gone? We miss you!!!!

She referred to her children as MY PEOPLE and I have to turn them out into society.

He asked her how old her kids were and she said, the twins are 15 and the little kids are 11 1/2.

She said she has to come up with the ideas. Our home is our safe zone, normal and comfortable.
SAME CREW FROM the beginning, she actually said, THE SAME CREW in the beginning starting with DISCOVERY!

After they hung up, the man host said what an odd way to grow up. He said she was basically saying, this is this skill we have to make money and TLC has a vested interest of the kids not being abused.

The man host said, they went and people asked where did you go?

The lady host said, and I didn't miss it.

The man host said, When you are really reprehensible and a celebrity and you see them out in public, you expect them to be nice. Look how nice her texters are.

Lady host, Yeah, they were crazy today.

Well, Kate the Liar strikes again. May the Horse be with you.

I agree. The ship has sailed on trying to duke this out in court. It's just going to upset the kids at this point.

You never win with an obsessed parental alienator unless you can get the rare judge to see through it. Even if you "win" you won't win, because they ignore court orders. You can do right by your children however by staying the course and just being the best parent you can be. Kids grow up eventually and have their own thoughts and opinions one day, and everything you do for them emotionally now has been filed away in their minds for future reference.

The overwhelming number of comments are not only negative but downright nasty. And these aren't from haters, most seem to be from loyal fans who are disgusted by Mady's behavior,as well as Kate's. A few also mention Robert's book.

XxxxxxxxxYou people know nothing of Kate. Why don't you google Kate's hidden journal called Kate Gosselin and how she fooled the world. Kate is nothing short of a child abusing mother. There is a very good reason why Mady is the way she is.

Some of the fans are praising M for being "strong" or having a mind of her own. There's nothing wrong with a girl learning to speak up for herself, or assert herself, in fact that is a good thing. That's nuts. This is not "leaning in."

There is nothing about Mady's behavior that will serve her well now or in the future. The only thing it's done is put Kate in her place. She can have a mind of her own. She can speak her mind. But she needs to be taught how to do so productively. And this goes for a teenage boy or girl. This is not a case of double standards, when a girl speaks up she's a bitch, when a boy speaks up he's a leader. Nothing of the sort.

Male or female, "you're stupid" accomplishes nothing.

Still, we don't know how she acts around other adults. It's very possible she only pulls out this behavior for Kate, because Kate lets her. So who knows. I am hopeful this is only crap she gets away with under Kate's reign.

I totally believe this is how Mady behaves ALL THE TIME. Remember when she was younger?

My question is does Kate really let Mady get away with this behavior? I believe she does. The teen is uncontrollable, just as many predicted. Shameful this behavior is shown on the show, for ratings, no doubt. Kate wants to prove the point she needs a man to influence the kids, because Jon is dead. Unfortunately, it seems clear why Mady has little interest in visiting her dad. Well, you reap what you sow, right?

"They’re bossy, but they’re leaders," conceded the girls. The boys were more hesitant to comment on Mady and Cara’s leaderships styles, whispering to one another in the confessional not to say too much because “they’re going to see this!”

Cara’s team made delicious chocolate peanut butter cupcakes, but it wasn’t enough to secure the win. Ultimately, Mady’s team won because of their perseverance even after messing up their first batch of desserts.

I think she lets her get away with it because M is so strong willed it's too much work to enforce limits. With some kids, you take away a phone (remember the episode she did that? What happened there?), and they never do it again. Some, you go to take your phone and they refuse to give it up, make you physically take it, find ways around the taking of the phone like finding an ipad with imessage, screaming back things like "you can't make me". I bet this is how she has behaved in response to discipline, and M has taught TFW how to treat her. Cara deserved to win that contest from what I've read, but TFW didn't want to incur M's wrath so she found a reason to give it to M. She says people have to learn there are winners and losers, but I don't think she's allowed M to learn the losing gracefully part.

I think the twins have the "goods" on her and she knows it - the lies she tells, adventures with TFM, how she treated the kids over the years, etc... The list of things KG has done/said in pursuit of fame and fortune is probably far more than we will ever know.

Or maybe the twins, most likely "M", will write a "tell all" book once she has finished college. And I can see her getting back at TFW once and for all in her own pursuit of fame. What goes around, comes around.

TFW wanted fame at all costs, and I don't think the apple has fallen too far from the tree. The only reason she puts up with M and C at this point is that she would rather keep filming to keep her mug out there, then realize it is time to shut the show down and be a parent.

We don't see everything, but the little that seeps out from time to time is telling. I think that whole situation with Hannah last spring (no idea if it occurred before the Mexico trip, but it was definitely before FL) showed Kate that she can't just insist anymore that her kids do what she says. The very idea of Hannah saying, okay, I'm staying with Dad and there's nothing you can do about it, must have scared the bejesus out of her. (If that all in fact happened. Of course we have no confirmation, but it all somehow makes sense.) I think she has to tread very carefully now, if she gets physical, someone's gonna hear about it (or see it--film crew anyone?). And if she goes too far with her inconsistent and often unfairly applied discipline, that's gonna come out somewhere. Unfortunately for her, it's coming out more and more on the show, because the consequences of how she has raised these kids cannot be hidden forever. And unfortunately for her, they cannot, for once, be blamed on Jon. She is truly beginning to reap what she's sown.

fidosmommy said... 124

I am not a parent, so I admit ignorance. But it seems to me that if a mother is stick-rigid about her children being obedient and "being kind to each other" (per their family creed of years ago) she would continue to have some concern whether they showed some level of respect to her as teens. It's like two different people - obey me, say please and thank you, don't interrupt, be kind, etc - turned into ain't it cool how my kids give me a hard time, are argumentative with family members, are rarely kind
and we're getting paid for that? I think if Kate didn't approve of the behavior, she would have shut it down long ago to where her kids knew she meant business. As I said, this is the opinion of a non- parental unit.

FlimsyFlamsy said... 125

YouReapWhatYouSow (#122), I suspect the twins will be getting book offers the day they turn 18. It would be ghost written, of course, with them just supplying the stories. And yes, that's probably another thing that gives them power over TFW.

I think filming is the twins' currency. If they don't get what they want, when they want it, then they won't perform for the camera. That's a lot of power for them to have at their ages, and it sure looks like it's damaging to both of them. She can't control them or even correct them out of fear that they will refuse to film.

MikeB said... 128

I can see one or more of the kids doing a book someday about their experiences. In my opinion such a book would make sense after they have started making their own lives for themselves and can provide some independent perspective on the conditions Kate made them live in compared to what they find is normal and stable on their own. It would be much more powerful for the kids to say "I've got a normal life now and I realize that Kate forcing us to live our lives out on film was damaging to us emotionally and kept us from having as good a childhood as we should have."

A book deal at 18 might be sensational but I don't think it would simply be a rehashing of the long hours filming, the lack of privacy, and some stories of Kate losing her temper and yelling at them and/or spanking them.

It is very likely that it is not being checked by Kate, may even be encouraged, because it brings the eyeballs and the commentary.

That's exactly what happened.

Kids should not have leverage over their parents. It renders the entire concept of a parent useless. You might as well not have a parent at all. Jon did one thing right in that the kids have no leverage on him. He removed it.

I was going to say that's the kind of leverage I think is most common to see. Children of divorce whose parents feel like they can't rock the boat or the child will just go live with the other parent. It's just not good for a kid to be in that power position.

I agree. It really is irrelevant whether Kate is fine with letting this roll off her back. She needs to let this child know this kind of verbal abuse is not acceptable, that it's not okay to speak to people this way.

Mady is going to struggle in romantic relationships, employment, and other social situations, if she does not learn that how she speaks to people is not appropriate. She is doing her child a grave disservice.

What's more, what are her seven other children learning from this? That this is okay, of course.

Kind of surprised they didn't drop below 700K given the steady decline over the couple of years of specials.

The Jill & Jessa repeat that was on just before her had 775,000 viewers and a 0.25 share. It will be interesting to see what the ratings are after she loses that lead-in in January.

Correct. Most people don't have a stake in Mady, being her mother. Most people are going to say okay then, that's a very nasty person and not worth my time. It's unfair for Mady and her future to not correct this behavior.

****
And just because you love someone does not mean it's okay to speak to them so disrespectfully, no matter how affectionate she can be.
&&&

Agree again. Actually, shouldn't the fact that you love them make this behavior even worse? You actually have a stake in who they are and who they will be. You're letting someone you care about be rude and nasty. Don't you care for their future socially and otherwise?

More and more this sounds very dysfunctional. In one breath Mady is supposedly being loving and affectionate. In the next, she is verbally bashing her mother? And Kate's just putting up with this. Does Kate understand this sounds just like a domestic violence relationship, which certainly includes verbal abuse?

Layla said... 158

787,000? Still really crappy ratings. I thought they'd be higher, considering the fact that it's the holidays and more people are taking time off work and are home. I'd be willing to bet none of the 8 episodes this season gets over 1M viewers.

In January, the new season of The Little Couple will be the lead-in for K+8, and it's a popular show. It'll be interesting to see what happens then. Still, I'm predicting under 1M for all of them.

The networks do background checks (theoretically) but they're mostly checking criminal history and bad credit. But IF your show is successful and you've been living a lie, you WILL get busted and it won't be pretty. If it's embarrassing for the network, you can be sued for non-disclosure. I doubt they have any back-up. I don't have TLC, but I'm reading that their daytime programming is now almost exclusively Dateline repeats. Interspersed with marathons whenever one of their "original" shows is coming back. Think of how many hours of programming they lost when they pulled 19 Kids off. There is an article in Variety talking about year-on-year viewership--while the Discovery channel is up 3% on the year for the key demo of 18-49, TLC is down a whopping 19%. There is clearly a problem here. (Here's the link: http://variety.com/2015/tv/ratings/2015-cable-ratings-amc-discovery-cartoon-network-1201666316/)

In this latest incarnation of the show tfw is Jon while Mady plays the part of the shrewish mother.

Been there, done that. It is neither cute nor entertaining. Tfw is not doing Mady any favors allowing the behavior.

All in all I find I prefer watching paint dry.

Slapping Emeril Lagasse with a spoon in front of the family, film crew, cameras. Yelling or pouty whining at how many guides on their many trips. Her spoiled child routine to Steve Thomas from this Old House as he and his crew installed solar panels. Years of screaming at Jon, chasing him around their new beautiful home, shrieking for not using a coupon. Screaming at him down their little street, screaming....husband...in front of so many. Who does that? Mady has witnessed 15 years of this. And much more than just what was on film.
I recognize in myself some of Mothers behaviors.
This is Katie Kreider's daughter. I am not shocked at all. Mom has a tv show, 3 cars, house with a pool and the kids. Dad is struggling.
Day after day of stomping and screaming, playing the pu upon victim and being sure everyone sees it, people start to stay out your way.
Unfortunately perhaps Mady hasn't realized that eventually everyone leaves when you behave this way. No patience and demanding your way all the time.

Ah, yes. The Gosselins used to celebrate the birth of baby Jesus, commonly known as Christmas. And although, from time to time, for the purposes of money, fame and exploitation, they would celebrate the blessed even which marks mankind's salvation, a tad early in order to film, they still held to the basic tenets of Christian faith.
Now, in a Seinfeldian sense of Festivus, Kate likes to celebrate Kwanzmasukkah, with daily gifts and a general sense of self-absorption and indulgence which lasts an indeterminate span of time and spans all known secular and non-secular holidays from Thanksgiving to New Years and beyond.

Her mother's poor parenting, and the filming, have ruined the child. She right now is one not very nice person.

But we know she can have a good heart...look how many times we've seen her try to protect a younger sibling from the wrath of TFW.

Think how as an adult she could use that passion to advocate for animals or underpriviledged children or the poor. She could really do some good in the world. And she still might....I hope she gets turned around and realizes that emulating her mother is not a good thing.

To extricate is to free oneself from a constraint or difficulty. Unless the room was wrapping tentacles around her ankles, I wouldn't think she had to extricate herself from it. Or maybe if the floor was covered with quicksand or sticky mud, she would need to extricate.

To extricate is to free oneself from a constraint or difficulty. Unless the room was wrapping tentacles around her ankles, I wouldn't think she had to extricate herself from it. Or maybe if the floor was covered with quicksand or sticky mud, she would need to extricate.

That's right, and when she uses inappropriate, big words, it's incongruous (not in harmony-LOL) with her otherwise projected image of the, like, ummm bleach blonde, MILF bimbo. It grates.

So now I get it. Being rude, inconsiderate and mouthing over to a parent is now being passionate?
_____
Guess no one I know is passionate then.

ost "Discussion thread: Kate Plus 8 'What's Old is New'...":

I really feel for Mady. Yes, she has a volatile personality, but it could have been harnessed, channeled, used to her advantage instead of her detriment. She could have learned to use all that energy positively.

I feel for her too, 100%.

She is not a bad kid. She is rude because it's allowed. Many good kids would behave the same if such a thing were allowed by their parents. She has slowly pushed that boundary line farther and father out until it's virtually disappeared from the horizon. Any kid could do the same if given the opportunity. Most just don't get the chance to try.

There are so many great activities that could help channel Mady's energy and surely at least something like this is available to her. Things like debate club, Model UN, student government, the student newspaper. Film club, acting classes, scouts. All places where her voice can be heard constructively.

She has a lot of potential and could grow into a really successful adult. But not if she doesn't find a way to harness her personality and direct it to productive things. She desperately needs the adults here to help her with that.
