I watched the interview and I think he did very well. He did not bash Kate, just simply stated what the state of their relationship is today. He did confirm what a lot of us have surmised for a long time and that is that Kate is so angry at him because he stopped filming and she just can't get over it. I have always felt that to be true. All in all he did a good job explaining how TLC and Kate worked together to bring him to his knees.

AuntieAnn said... 3

It looks like Dr. Drew is going to be on the show too. You know, the Dr. pat-poor-teary-eyed-Katie-on-the-hand-and-give-her-a-Keurig Drew. Yeah, that guy.

I wonder if he and Jon chatted about the ex-wife from hell in the Green Room.

fidosmommy said... 4

Thanks for Jon's opportunity to open the curtain to how TLC managed the divorce. This blog nailed it long ago, but others out there in the general public may never have thought of it. I'm very proud of how Jon kept it to TLC, his own decisions and his own facts. In that clip I heard nothing about Kate being a hateful, duplicious, or otherwise difficult person.
He kicked TLC under the bus, not Kate.
I hope he does as well during the rest of the interview.

Kate knows her numbers will never be as big as when Jon was on the show. I can believe she will hold that against Jon forever.
I hope Jon can soon tell his own side of the story in its entirety.

Tucker's Mom said... 6

*******
Yes, very good distinction between that, and how Kate nails Jon at every turn.
Oh, sure, it's always obliquely and thinly-veiled, but she throws Jon under the bus all the time.

It's important for fans and people in general (who have followed the saga and media crucifixion of Jon) to understand that while Kate whined about how much money was spent on the divorce, she wasn't paying.
TLC was.
TLC also mounted a smear campaign as they positioned Kate to be the poor, cheated-upon wife, left with 8 kids to raise all on her own.

Anonymous said... 7

So far I have only seen the promo of this interview but it reinforces what has been said here for years - TFW hates her ex more than she loves their children. If she truly loved them she would put aside her anger and foster a loving relationship with their father and everyone would benefit.

Hi, Bluebird.

@Tucker's mom the show had 10 million when jon was on,so when it became kate plus 8 it was 2 million and now its down to 1 million and heck even some didn't even reach a million. It just goes 2 show how far the show gone down when 9 million tune out.

TLC stinks said... 10

I would like to see the whole story come out, either in a main stream magazine or TV show, about how TLC and Kate worked to destroy Jon. Of course, Jon was in breach of contract, so TLC could legally go after him. I think TLC wanted to use Jon as an example as to what they would do to their "talent" if they decided they no longer wanted to film. Kate got a golden deal with TLC paying her legal expenses. Now the question is why is there still a custody battle going on? Is TLC involved because they want to continue the filming (and Kate) and they are financing her attorneys still?

fidosmommy said... 11

Jamesvader, the show was at 10 million for the episode where the separation was announced. I don't think those were the normal numbers for J&K+8.

Terri said... 12

I truly believe that the big reason Kate is trying to keep as many of the kids away from Jon as possible is that there is strength in numbers. Think about it. If ALL the kids visited with Jon on a regular basis there is a good chance that a whole lot of Kate's secrets and what goes on in that house would come to light. I also think that Mady holds the key to this entire saga being exposed for the dysfunctional mess that it is, and I think Kate knows it! Why else would a woman who is so very controlling and wants everything done to her expectations allow this one child to walk all over her like Mady does. The next few years are going to be very interesting indeed.

TLC stinks said... 13

As far as conspiracy theories, I've always thought that initial pap photo of Jon in the car with the school teacher was a set up because at that point Jon and Kate knew the divorce was going to happen and he's given notice to TLC. He started going out ( a mistake) but it played right into their hands. Jon has always sworn he never cheated on Kate. Maybe he did, maybe he didn't, but it's a shame he acted out so poorly during that time. He was an easy target.

I always throw out the 10 million viewer statistic because it's an outlier. I don't know what J+K+8 averaged back in its hey day, but I think it was double or triple what K+8 brings in.

Yes, although a couple years ago Dr. Drew produced a widely regarded documentary about how good parents get screwed in the family law courts all the time in the U.S. Shockingly, he concluded whoever has the most money wins.

Exactly. The big fucketydoo made about Jon cheating after Kate spent days and weeks traveling with Steve, leaving him with the kids back at home, just makes me laugh.
Really? After years of Jon staying at home while Kate took off with Steve, it's a joke to call the cuckold a cheater.

Hello to everyone, I didn't think any of you would remember me.

Steve Harvey is on at 4pm here also, I DVR'd it too.

Why am I not surprised that Jon didn't badmouth Kate, he has more class than that. He also knows that the children may see the show. I'm sure they hear Kate throwing Jon under the bus all the time, albeit I do hope they're smart enough to know by now that everything Kate says is either a lie or completely over exaggerated.

Does anyone know if Jon is still writing the book he had mentioned last year?

It could have been her, I can't remember, but at least one of the girls Jon was "seen" with is a lesbian. They were just friends.

TLC stinks said... 23

When the show had Jon on it, it consistently gave TLC it's highest ratings. The 10 million was just the separation announcement show. TLC obviously had a lot to lose if Jon walked. Now that all Kate brings in is one million, TLC reverted to these short seasons because she cannot carry a normal season of shows. Right now, with Kate being fairly quiet on Twitter, she is probably on pins and needles waiting to hear if there will be more upcoming seasons. Now would be the time because of the production calendar. If she goes on Twitter like she is high as a kite, she got renewed. I am pretty much betting it will happen unless her demands outweigh TLC's expenses.

TLC stinks said... 24

Kate keeping some of the kids away is her way of giving Jon the finger and keeping him tangled with attorneys and their fees. She's about making trouble, revenge and estrangement.

Oh yes. Discovery/TLC are brutal. Show up for work or we'll have your balls in a fishing net and your ass in court.

Funny how Kate always said that if one family member wanted to call the show quits, they would stop filming but their contract with TLC said something quite the opposite.

The moral of the story is hire a good lawyer to read you the small print before you sign on the dotted line. All Jon and Kate saw in the beginning were the dollar signs. And that's still all Kate sees to this day. The only truthful words she's ever uttered are 'the show is my life'.

Steve Harvey is on here at 4 p.m. CST and programmed to watch.

Maybe Jon will write a book about his experience being on reality tv and how a network (TLC) as someone posted brought him to his knees. If he did, could TLC sue him?

After the airing of the SH show, the ball is now in TFW's court. Will she still keep doing what she is doing? Will the court and judge get involved? Will the media go ape you know about it? Hope so.

If it is found out that C has been afraid to go and visit his dad because of his obligation to Shoka and the chickens not being cared for when he is gone, the judge needs to court order TFW to either hire someone to take care of them or get rid of them.

I wonder if Dr. Drew will be on the stage with Jon or will Dr. Drew come on later by himself and they talk about Jon's situation. Then later on Jon and Dr. Drew together.

I thought it was a win in Jon's favor for putting a picture of him, his gf and 4 or 5 of the kids. It shows that he doesn't have all 8 with him. Looked like they were at the beach.

"Time does vindicate the prophet" as my grandmother used to say. We have been saying for years that Jon has been punished over and over for saying, "I am done filming." We also remember when TFW was saying, "when one of us wants to stop filming, it stops." Liar, liar, to the core. How could anyone go up against TLC/TFW who wasn't already rich? Sad for Jon. I believe he was used from the beginning of their relationship. Very clear to see. Pieces are coming together. This interview will not sit well with TFW. Be "on guard", Jon.

Paula said... 39

" “But the network sided with my ex-wife. They paid for her divorce attorneys, everything."

And this is where I have to wonder where were the minds of the people in charge of TLC? They had to know that the pull of the show was the "family" dynamic - not Kate and the kids. The fact that TLC had a BIG hand in the destruction of the relationship between Jon and his kids is beyond reprehensible.

I look forward to the day when this network is no longer...and based on the new shows that have coming along, it won't be long. This is a network that used to boast millions of viewers - when it actually WAS The Learning Channel. Now, it's all reality freak shows and idiots buying wedding dresses. The upcoming episode of "The Little Couple" is a freakin' doggy fashion show - seriously????

The money for Kate's divorce costs HAD to have gone through TLC's books, right? So how can they not report that to the IRS as "payment in kind" and Kate would have to pay taxes on it? Maybe they did and maybe she did.

I know in my little world, if we are given a car or some big gift that goes beyond ordinary salary and benefits, it gets reported as income, payment in kind. It is presumed the bonus gift was earned through our employment. The IRS hears about it because both the treaurer and we report it.

I think what's worse is that it's not really nothing she's doing, she's in fact exploiting her children and selling their privacy for that money.

She had plenty of opportunities to establish herself as a marketable commodity (brand) on her own. The fact is she couldn't do it because she is so inauthentic, unlikable and frankly, too lazy to put the effort into learning any relevant skills.

The woman couldn't even manage to put together a half-decent cookbook. Instead she filled it with huge glossy photos of her kids. Again, selling them.

The Gosselin brand is the Gosselin kids. Once they are old enough to decide they are done she's toast and the chances of us being subjected to her fugly mug on our tvs diminishes greatly.

I'm with you local, frustration does not equate jealousy. You'd have to be mad to be jealous of that woman but it's pretty easy to be frustrated by the whole scenario.

If you read here still, Robert, I hope you're vindicated, too.
Robert laid bare the iron-clad contract that bound the Gosselins to them. Yet, it seemed nobody blinked when it was revealed that the family was beholden to TLC, even the kids.
If they didn't film, penalties would be levied. If they tried to quit, well, that's history now, isn't it?
The bottom line is that Kate LIED over and over again about bringing filming to a halt if anyone wanted to stop.

What do you call a death from jogging in cold weather on a wonderful sunny day? A sunny day death?

Government should not artificially inflate death numbers. That's wrong. They do it for funding, among other things.

FlimsyFlamsy said... 70

Tucker's Mom (#67), remember when the tups were toddlers, and TFW said she discovered Hannah had
full-blown ear infections in both ears? Can you imagine how many times those kids' symptoms were ignored, diminished, or pooh-poohed in order to keep on schedule for filming? That is neglect.

fidosmommy said... 71

As a heart and lung patient I can attest to what Sue is saying. I can go for a brief walk in 60°F weather
but am not allowed to step out a door when it gets to 40°F or below. My heart would stop just from breathing the cold air into my lungs. Exertion makes me suck in that icy air faster and more deeply and oxygenation is compromised, my heart has to work harder, and it escalates from there. It may not be a storm related death but would certainly be a weather related one. Shoveling snow can be a killer. Snow is only shoveled when it is cold enough to create snow, and it's a lot of lifting, breathing deeply and making your heart work hard.

It's so incredibly unethical that a network would get involved with a divorce and try to influence it, especailly when custody is involved--that their should be laws against it. I understand TLC doesn't have ethics but a law should forbid them from doing that.

If they want to pay for lawyers fine, but you get lawyers for both of the parents. You don't pick a side. Of course Jon is broke and not Kate. She wasn't wiped out from the divorce like a normal parent because she got someone else to pay. There's a huge advantage right there.

Their decision to pick Kate had lasting consequences for this family that will linger for the rest of the children's lives, long after this network is history. They had absolutely no business ever trying to influence it. We know they did. Remember Kate's comment about the divorce, it was decided she would file that particular week? I remember even in the recap I was like, huh, who decided?? TLC?

While I agree The Good Wife has run its course, I do still enjoy it. Revenge on the other hand just wore me out after a couple seasons with its hate and scheming.
*****
I DVR'd Steve Harvey and some notes;
Jon looked really nervous at first. Steve asked about how the show came about. Jon talked about the Discovery specials, then J+K+8, and how the episodes went from 8, to 12, then to 40 per season/year, and the audience GASPED.
Then Jon said the next year was 52 episodes. Bigger GASP with lots of women shaking their heads.
Jon felt like the crew started to boss them and the kids around to get footage, and that ticked him off. Kate wanted to film more, and Jon wanted to be more of a family.
Regarding being sued by TLC, Jon said he tried to quit, but couldn't. J+K knew they were getting divorced, but TLC wanted them to act married and film. So, Jon quit and lost everything when TLC sided with Kate and paid for everything on her side (lawyers, etc.).
He wanted his kids off tv, and it worked at first because filming went on hiatus (Jon said with a HUGE smile). But, TLC picked up specials, renamed the show and the rest is history.
Regarding Jon's bad press, Jon said basically that he was silenced and his bad boy image was hammered out to the press by TLC, and he was unable to respond because TLC wouldn't let him by threatening to sue.
Steve and Jon both reiterate that in real time, when Jon is reported in the media to be having peccadilloes left and right, his marriage was O-V-E-R, but episodes of them still together were just being seen. Hence, the "cheater" moniker.
So, TLC is airing J+K married, but the tabloids are reporting Jon as a free agent. That controversy meant money for TLC.
Jon talked about his DJ career, just mentioning it briefly.

About any regrets about the show, Jon thinks tv accelerated the divorce. He doesn't regret it because the kids are financially set.

Regarding visitation, we've seen the preview clip about not seeing them all, not co-parenting and not talking to Kate.
Jon gives no reason as to why he doesn't see the one boy and said nothing about getting the court involved.

Jon thinks Kate is mad about Jon quitting, and going from an 11 rating and dropping down to a 2. That limited Kate's tv opportunities.

Jon's learned about trust and being strong, self-supporting and being a good person with a moral compass.

My impression is that Jon has a lot to say and wanted to get as much in as possible during the short segment. I'm utterly baffled as to why he hasn't seen his own child. That doesn't pass the smell test for me.
Maybe we'll find out more when he's free from all ties.

What do you call a death from jogging in cold weather on a wonderful sunny day? A sunny day death?

&&&&&&&&&&&

Was the person hit by a car or did the sun cause the death?

In the case of shoveling, there is a direct correlation between the snow and shoveling and the ensuing fatality, which is why it is counted as a storm-related death. It happened as a result of the storm; a jogging death isn't the result of the sun shining (unless the person jogging was hit by a car because the driver was blinded by the sun).

A mother and her baby died from carbon monoxide while sitting in a car. The husband was clearing the exhaust pipe. Is this a storm-related death? Would they have been in that car with a blocked exhaust pipe if there had been no snow? At what point is *anything* counted as a storm-related fatality if everything can be explained away as would have happened anyway? If someone drowns during a flood while trying to evacuate their home, then it shouldn't be counted as such? I'm not sure what you're trying to say.

I don't know, it really doesn't matter, but I do know that SH was aired at 3 and Jon did fine. He told it like it is, and has been pretty much consistent in what he's said over the years, and what I understand to have gone down in this whole TLC thing. You just don't mess with them or they will find a way to get you. He couldn't go up against them; his hands were tied.

I am also glad he didn't get into the whole court battle/custody thing other than saying that he doesn't see all of his kids at once. The legal workings of what is going on, his attorney's fight in all of this is being kept private. No need to air all of that.

I remember the dramatic, silent statement at the end of that blockbuster separation episode, which alluded to Jon's behavior forcing Kate to run to the courthouse to file and protect her family from some ill-defined threat.
It was insane and 10 million people got the message: Jon Gosselin is a horrible father and husband. Kate Gosselin is Mama Grizzly protecting her cubs.
I sometimes wonder if Jon could sue TLC for ruining his image with that stunt and more.

I watched the interview on Steve Harvey, and my sympathy for Jon has increased by a thousand fold. That poor man! Robbed of everything and now the salt goes in the wounds every time he goes to the gate to pick up who knows how many of his own kids. Finding out about the son he hasn't seen in 18 months is disturbing. If we feel frustration, how must Jon feel? Thank God he is getting on with his life and he has a life. I agree that TFW is blaming him for her "mediocre" television appearance and rise/fall to stardom. Her only claim to fame is having 8 kids (count 'em) 8 kids and placing their 8 faces on tv. Interesting that they can all 8 be filmed for television, but all 8 cannot visit their father. Jon appears to be genuine and loving. You know TFW cannot stand those qualities! She really has more hate for Jon than love for her kids. They have meant a paycheck for her from day one. That is not motherly love. We, here Admin, have her number and realized a long time ago that there was a lot Jon wasn't telling. Bad enough to have to fight TFW, but to find out she had the TLC network backing her all the way, now that is disgusting!

I give up. A jogging death? 'Cause they were jogging when they died, or were they hit by a bus? That would maybe be called a traffic death?

I'm not sure a jog around the park can be compared to shoveling heavy snow for 2 or 3 hours.

I've got one for you. What do they call a death from jogging on a cold, sunny day while carrying a snow shovel and stopping every block to clear a path?

I don't think deaths from over-exertion should be counted as "storm deaths." They could have died on a treadmill during wonderful weather like Sheryl Sandberg's husband. Just my opinion on how storm statistics are calculated.

-----

Here's a scenario. A plane crashes and all one hundred people on board are killed. It goes down in a neighborhood where six people also die. Is the death-count from the crash set at 100, or are the other six included in the fatality list? They certainly were victims of the crash or are they not counted because they weren't physically on the plane?

I would love for Jon's book to be in part, a take down of TLC and Discovery, and those entities of that ilk that will ruin your life if you dare try and void your contract to attempt to regain what's left of your "normal" life.
----------
Is there some reason why Jon should not be subjected to the same expectations of fulfilling contracts that the rest of us are? If I don't want to pay my mortgage, should I just stop?

Robert's book made it crystal clear that there were several contracts negotiated, so I don't think that the argument that they didn't have legal advice holds water. If they didn't have an attorney review their later contracts, then that is on them.

I have said it many times--the responsibility of protecting their children belongs to their parents. Period. TLC was perfectly within their rights to protect their investment by enforcing a contract that he signed and profited from. Jon sure didn't have any problem spending the money he received from filming! And, he probably continued to received a salary from them for several years after he stopped filming.

By now, it should be clear that this is a pattern of behavior--he has also allegedly had a lien from the IRS as well as a judgement against him by a previous employer.

Jon may be the more loving parent, but he is not the more responsible one.

Where were the minds of the people in charge of TLC, indeed! At the time of the divorce, Eileen O'Neill was the Prez of Discovery/TLC and she was VERY pro-TFW to the point of almost unbelievability.

I credit her and her pal Kate Coyne at People for the tag-team destruction job they did on the Gosselin family and especially Jon. Without those 2 women at the helm of 2 powerful media conglomerates, I think the outcome of this whole circus would have been quite different.

Never going to happen. The only way that situation leads to success is if the coparenting is filmed. Jon is adamant that continued filming is harming the kids. &&&&

Jon stopped because the contract was causing severe emotional damage to his children. They were going through a divorce, filming was ramping up, and he could not in good conscience continue. As he explained very clearly he was hoping by him going the kids would piggy back and be out too, which worked for awhile. He got them through the worst of the divorce without cameras, and for that he should have no regrets.

Sometimes you have to break the law or an agreement for the greater good. If there is some much greater good to not paying your mortgage or if it is causing severe damage to someone, then you might consider not paying. This is what ethics is and sometimes the ethical thing wins out over black letter law.

The same could be said for any kind of passive resistence to an agreement or law. I suppose there's no reason someone should take a seat at the front of the bus if the law says they can't, but someone decided to do that because it was the right thing to do. It's no different than anyone breaking the law for a bigger and better purpose, as Jon did.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 96

. Is the death-count from the crash set at 100, or are the other six included in the fatality list?

&&&&

Of course they are included. Their deaths are the direct result of the crash. However you do separate them out and say X amount of people died on the ground vs the plane, because that's just part of being accurate.

As I said this was just my opinion, but I believe in separating out direct deaths versus indirect deaths when calculating storm statistics.

Let me put it this way, someone who has a heart condition is at risk of death if they push their heart too much. If they died raking leaves on a chilly autumn day you wouldn't say death by colorful leaves. You would say they died from over-exertion while raking leaves. And yet, we say death by snow storm because there happened to be a blizzard that resulted in them going out and doing some chores that day? That makes no sense. It was death by over-exertion, IMO, and shouldn't be counted.

Actually, people who work in torts agonize over the direct and indirect causes of death and it can be very important to insurance and lawsuits whether a storm really caused someone's death, if it was a contributing factor, or bore no relation at all, as it might to say, a car accident because someone was texting that had nothing to do with the weather (and yet, I bet it's counted).

I agree.

Even without the show the family would have been fine. Jon and Kate would have to work long hours, and the kids would have to make sacrifices in a smaller house. The kids would have to go to public school but the public schools in the area are fine. They would have to go to daycare instead of having a fancy live in nanny. They would have been fine. Having a lot of kids actually might have been helpful to them because it would qualify them for more discounts and public assistance especially when it comes to higher education.

As I said this was just my opinion, but I believe in separating out direct deaths versus indirect deaths when calculating storm statistics.
--------------------
But as far as I can tell, you don't consider any of the deaths to be a "direct result" of the storm. Traffic deaths don't count because people die in traffic accidents even without a storm. Death by heart attack when shoveling snow don't count because the people could have overexerted in other ways. Death by carbon monoxide poisoning don't count because furnaces malfunction and cause carbon monoxide deaths anyway. What's left?

If someone falls in a ditch and smothers in the snow, does that count? Falls in a ditch a dies of hypothermia.

I think snow shoveling eats, in particular, are directly attributable to the storm. Yes, those people could have died running on a treadmill, but they don't/didn't. They have enough sense not to overexert themselves when they feel they have a choice.

For years, I did almost all the shoveling to keep our driveway clear while living in a high-snow area. Our typical weather pattern was for snow to start in the afternoon and continue into the small hours of the night. Because of my husband's unusual work hours, I had to shovel it when I got home from work so I could get my car into the driveway. I then shoveled again before I expected him home, so he could get into the driveway. If it was really coming down, I'd shovel in-between to make the last shoveling easier. The one thing I've learned from all that shoveling is to make it a marathon, not a sprint. I use a fairly narrow shovel (I call it a "lady's shovel") so it isn't too hard to lift even if it is full of wet snow. And I shovel SLOWLY, and stop every few minutes to lean on my shovel and look around at how pretty the snow is. And if I get tired, I go inside BEFORE I'M FINISHED and do something else for awhile, then go back out later to finish. With the very worst snow, like with this storm, the plows won't come for a while, so there really no reason to dig like a fiend.

Yeah. I think they're going to figure it out way before then, like I'm talking before the age of 18.

Melissa Francis from Little House on the Prairie figured it out when she was about 16.

The kids are onto her. They're slowly becoming more aware. "Kate Plus Kate" I think was a watershed moment. It shows the kids realize that a lot of this show is about Kate getting to have all the fun. And this is an 11 year old realizing this.

I think Kate knows the jig is up, and I think that's why the kids are out of control because she knows they've got her over a barrel. She has no motivation to control them or upset them or restrict them. She has every motive to let them run the show.

My recollection was that Jon had to pay $21,000/month in child support up until around the time that the contract with TLC lapsed. If he hadn't drawn a paycheck since he stopped filming in summer of 2009, how could the courts have levied that amount of child support? Also, I know from personal business experience that many non-competes are compensated in some way. That would strengthen TLC's case. I might be wrong, but that is my opinion. I might be wrong on the timeline, but I remember the reduction coinciding with the lapsed contract date.

As far as the greater good argument, it was widely reported that his settlement with TLC resulted in the suit being dropped in return for allowing the kids to film. So, so much for the greater good. He was apparently all about ethics when he thought had a great media future. Not so much when those opportunities evaporated. Some may not believe that, but I do. If Jon had half of the character and integrity that many here ascribe to him, the kids would be a lot better off. I wish I could see him this way, but I don't. I don't care enough about this to spend any time on research. Why he has dragged this up out of the past is beyond me.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 128

If he hadn't drawn a paycheck since he stopped filming in summer of 2009, how could the courts have levied that amount of child support?

&&&&&

We weren't there when the support was calculated. But it makes all the sense in the world if you understand child support, because the courts usually base child support on what you "could" earn or are supposed to earn. Not always what you actually earn.

In general this is a good thing, because it prevents a doctor from quitting and getting a job at McDonalds in order to avoid huge child support payments. It prevents parents from being sneaky and gaming the system. In this case however, Jon didn't want to be on TV anymore, which for him meant an IT salary, not 22k a month.

However the courts may not have cared he didn't want to do TV anymore no more than they would care if a doctor didn't want to practice medicine anymore.

I see some of the sheeple are harassing Steve Harvey because of Jon's interview. One of them is tweeting him links to old articles about Jon.

Another said that it's a lawsuit waiting to happen and hopes that TLC watched the interview.

Milo, of course, said it was all lies and hopes TLC took notice.

You can read their convo here:

They're the ones that complain when the haters harass anyone that has anything to do with Kate, yet they're doing exactly the same thing. What a bunch of hypocrites.

************************
I really can't remember the last time she had a full interview. The only reason she was on the Today Show was to promote the new season of the show. Other than that, she's really so 2009 and the mainstream media as well as a major portion of the public appear to be over her. I don't think she'll ever be invited to be a guest co-host on a talk show again. She's done CWS & CA--what other reality shows are left? All she has is her own show and I agree with admin that she is probably sweating bullets waiting to see the ratings for the last episode tomorrow and whether TLC will want more specials.

If Jon's custody lawyer is worth his or her salt, the interview with Steve Harvey may be one of the first steps towards enforcing visitation with all of the kids.

&&&&&&&&&&&&&

Are you talking about the settlement in the TLC lawsuit, or his not paying child support? The latter was started by someone who threw it out there and the rumor spread and took off on wings of its own.

It was never confirmed, nor proven, nor anything else that Kate relieved Jon of paying child support because he agreed to sell his kids to TLC so that they could continue filming.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 133

it was widely reported that his settlement with TLC resulted in the suit being dropped in return for allowing the kids to film

&&&&&

It was widely speculated. In fact, such an arrangement would be illegal in most states including PA. You are not allowed to "negotiate away" child support, nor should you. That is because child support is in the best interest of the children, not the parents, and is not to be used as a bargaining chip like a house or a car. If a mother, or father, could say I won't make you pay child support if you agree to do this or not to do this or give me this or whatever, family courts would be chaos and terrible for children.

I think what really happened is that TLC and Kate decided they were going to plow forward with filming anyway, knowing Jon would have to fight them forever and spend money he didn't have. They gambled on him not being able to stop it, and won.

He has shelter, he can feed them. As far as I know, he's never claimed he can't handle having them all visit at once.

This is what I understand of the money after the divorce. There was a bunch of back and forth about who took what money out of which account. Eventually, Jon was given a lump sum as part of the divorce (common in division of assets). Somehow Kate's lawyer got the court to order the $20,000 (or whatever exact amount) per month in child support. This went on until Jon had paid back all of his lump sum and was broke. Now we have no idea what he pays but it can't be $20,000. Kate and Jon appear from Robert's book and other sources to have been paid per episode, not a fixed salary. Since Jon wasn't in any more episodes, I don't believe TLC would have paid him anything.

I don't believe Jon can change anything. Kate has money and TLC has more money and their judge appears to respond to that. When they are older Jon can try to see everyone but other than that he's screwed. The police have helped Kate break the law for years (according to Robert's book). They won't help now.

Maybe I'm wrong, but if the court awards Jon his one night per week and every other Fri-Mon, then it doesn't matter who the police side with. The police are there to enforce the court order. All Jon has to do is call.
Jon called the police and they responded when Kate tried to enter the compound when it was his time there with the kids. I don't see how its any different when Jon pulls up to the gate and not all the kids are produced by Kate.
That's her court-ordered duty.
Remember the report (by Robert?) that the kids all staged a sit-in when Jon tried to get them in the van to go back to Kate's? He had to get those kids back and he did. They didn't want to go, but too bad, so sad. They had to and Jon complied.
He didn't say, "Oh, sorry, Kate, Hannah and Joel didn't want to go back. You get what you get.".

I think that's honest.
Kate acts like they were inevitably doomed, and completely eschews the show's role in breaking them up.
Further, Kate constantly puts Jon down by basically calling him a mistake, and saying she needs to do better next time.
It's nasty, immature and abusive to her kids to speak of their father like that.
I think that most of the kids will have big, big problems with Kate when they realize how she manipulated their feelings and regard for Jon.

I didn't say anything about whether he is capable of having all of the kids at once--I was talking about his breaking the contract.

As far as filming goes--on SH, he said that he succeeded in shutting down the filming. But then, after the settlement, magically, filming was resumed again. There have been much bigger leaps of logic made, here when it comes to Kate. Anyway, as I said, it is my opinion that the settlement included allowing the kids to film, and some kind of salary (if it was not already stipulated in the contract).

Also, Jeanne, both Jon and Kate have said that Jon was relieved of child support, other than what he provides for his custody time. So, according to the custody schedule.
