This is what TFW said on a Ugly Moments video about Christmas presents.
There were some viewers that emailed us, which amazes us. They wanted to send our kids presents, they wanted to know what could they send them. I mean I responded saying, That would be great, Who am I to say, Hey, No, no, no, no thanks?
They love our kids, they feel like they know them. And it amazed us how well they knew them. HOW WELL THEY KNEW THEM and what they were into. And we are very thankful from the bottom of our hearts because to stretch Christmas for 8 kids is a worry every year.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What a greedy leech! Why not tell them to take them to their local Salvation Army/Toys For Tots/local charity toy drives? They were sitting on a big pile of money at that time. On the video as TFW was doing the voiceover, she was handing out the presents. She would get a medium box present and walk just a couple of feet from the tree and then toss it like an idiot to each child.
One thing that she missed out on was getting a patent on her hairstyle to be made into a wig, called the Kate Gosselin. She could of licensed it and made money for perpetuity.
But she locked in perpetuity filming the heck out of those kids.
Redbird (#183), I agree that TFW's vomit laundry story is a little hard to swallow. She's so hung up on the number 8, that that's the number of hours she claimed to be washing sheets!
And in her martyrdom, she showed her skewed priorities. She had 8 sick little ones, and decided her time was best spent doing laundry? Wouldn't a caring mom want to be with them and comfort them while they were feeling miserable? And she proved her lack of the nurturing gene when we saw her stick poor little J on the laundry room floor, admittedly because she was tired of changing the bedding. Although, according to the fans, it was because feverish, vomiting children love being on hard, cold floors away from their mommies, comforted by the gentle murmur of churning appliances.
TLC stinks (#200), wow, that Golden Uterus piece describes TFW to a tee! Uncanny! Remember when she said something about Jon like, I don't see why he gets to have a say in the kids' lives. It was almost as if he didn't exist. Does anyone have the exact quote? Or am I just making stuff up to make TFW look bad, as is rumored to be our hobby over here at 15 Minutes?
Some highlights: ****** Whoa, spooky! the GU believes to her core that the father is nothing more than a sperm donor who has no rights, say or importance in HER childrens' lives. I think Kate prides herself on her children not wanting to see Jon. #winning
GUs wield guilt over their children with staggering virtuosity. “I am your mother. I carried you for 9 months. No one will ever love you like I do. No one will ever break our bond. No one will ever come between us. I CARRIED you in my WOMB for NINE months. YOU can NEVER do that for me.”
***** OMG, this is literally what Kate says to the tups every birthday.
And it amazed us how well they knew them. HOW WELL THEY KNEW THEM and what they were into.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Isn't that amazing that STRANGERS knew what the kids were into and she didn't? The school shopping trip when she HAD to ask a tup boy while looking at sport t-shirts what sport he was into. She didn't even know that he liked basketball. What an insensitive person she is.
What a difference it could of made if they had only had the chance. They would of had high ratings if they would of let the tups play soccer and Jon coach the boys and let them play a whole season. They could of filmed around their schedule.
Andy Griffith made darn sure that Ron Howard had a normal life filming TAGS. They even adjusted the shooting schedule around his baseball seasons.
Who does that now? Certainty not TLC.
My sons played so many sports for years and still are playing in Men's leagues. They played, soccer, football, basketball, t-ball, rugby, baseball. My dys wanted a boys volleyball team at school. They had a girls team, but no boys.
They would play all summer in the sand at the community annex.
They took the little girls to a dance class. One girl loved it, not a tear. The other little girl cried and wailed and was saying she didn't want to do it and I don't like dance.
The teacher was trying to comfort her and she would get worse. The mother paced very little and then went and sit back down. The mom asked the little girl if she wanted to come back and she said, NO!
Jon strikes me as very naive, gullible, malleable, easily influenced by others. Besides being a type B.
Think how things would be different if he'd not had a clown for a lawyer. At that point he was too caught up in his own celebrity.
It's interesting how he was so clearly upset about the impact of the show on his kids, but moved fairly quickly into the I'm famous playboy mode once they were separated.
If he'd stayed in the concerned dad mode things could have ended up much differently. He handed TLC ammunition on a silver platter.
He was like a little kid in the candy store with twenty bucks, instead of the adult he needed to be at that point. Something I would suspect he sincerely regrets. He did his children no favors with all his acting out. He needed to be the adult right then, and he wasn't.

She was obviously referencing Jon. Jon is outside the circle, in Kate's mind. He's an interloper and no longer a parent in the full sense of the word. He's a sperm donor whom she must deal with because she has to. I think it drives her nuts that she can't cut him off like she can with everyone else.
Kate has the money and with TLC had the power in the divorce no doubt. Still wrong in my mind that she has control over the children and at the same time is provided for by...Jon's children. A nursery full of chubby adorable babies with Asian features, a handsome athletic husband with a laid back personality and great sense of a humor, who was very involved in taking care of his family. Kate would not have had this sweet ride otherwise.
Money is power. My grandfather would say, "Right is not right, money is right."
How many citizens within the commonwealth of Pennsylvania can say a multimillion dollar company funded their divorce? TLC was protecting their asset. Hatred and dough, a lethal combination against a laid back easy going young father. Turns my stomach. She really does believe "mine all mine," especially when it comes to the children and the property. I don't think she ever thought Jon had any right to express his wishes, his wants for HIS children. Never. Monster.
If he'd stayed in the concerned dad mode things could have ended up much differently. He handed TLC ammunition on a silver platter.
****** I agree- Jon's playboy, jet setter antics were awful. He didn't help himself on bit there. But, I don't see how this affects the current state of affairs. He's awarded visitation. It's done. It is so ordered. The Ed Hardy phase has no bearing on Jon not getting all the kids to be produced by Kate, as ordered by the court. Of course, I've no idea what the whole story is, but I'm trying to envision under what circumstances would it be acceptable for an 11-year old boy to not see his own father for over a year? The only things I can think of are unspeakable.
Yeah, this is another thing she missed out on trademarking.
Mine, All Mine® and
Mine, All Mine, as far as the eye can see®
I hate to bust Katie's balloon...
Matthew 6:19-21
“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Here's my concern. People who are on TV/movies are considered public figures and as such the public can say anything they want about them as long as its not threatening. It may not be right, but there it is.
The Gosselin children had no voice and no rights on whether they were exploited (on TV) for Mommy's personal gain. But the children will be the ones who pay the price down the road.
How many times have we heard former child actors say how difficult the transition was to being a public person. All the public knew of the actor is the character they play on TV. And if that character was mean (e.g. Nellie Olson, Little House on the Prairie) the actor pays the price over and over and over again. They cannot escape.
Now fast forward a few years when the G8 are out on their own, mingling with the public. They will forever be the little children on TV saying cute or stupid things. The public remembers these children. But wait, they are being themselves, not a character. Will the public be more brutal when they encounter a G8? Will the G8 ever be able to overcome public's perception of them? Or will they be bombarded over and over about the divorce? Their mother's greed and nastiness? Will they be able to survive the difficult years yet to come?
When J/K+8 started reality TV with children was in its infancy. We had yet to see the true affects of non-scripted (yea, right!) shows have on their adult life. We've had a glimpse of it with Roloff's youngest son (can't remember his name) and it's not pretty. He's dropped out of high school and blames his parents for filming his childhood.
I bring all this up because after the children enter into adulthood, we're going to be entering a new phase....the affects of reality TV on children. I wish the G8 well as they go through yet another difficult time in their life. I truly hope that friends and family will give them the support they will need.
Redbird (#17), I think TFW clearly expressed how she felt about her "treasure" when she declared that being home one week and then away one week was what "works best" for her family. Eight young children, and she was willing to miss so many precious moments of their childhood, to chase fame and fortune.
I agree- Jon's playboy, jet setter antics were awful. He didn't help himself on bit there. But, I don't see how this affects the current state of affairs. He's awarded visitation
Yes, agree. It doesn't affect the current state of things. I don't understand why he's choosing not to enforce the visitation order. Lack of money for a lawyer maybe?
I get the feeling that there's a whole lot to that story that hasn't come out yet.
Turtle (AKA Amy2) (#18), thank you for your thoughtful comment. I agree -- the long-term negative effects of the G8's celebrity remain to be seen. And yes, they can't fall back on that "I was just playing a part" excuse that other TV and film child actors can use.
As far as current issues, can those kids ever be sure that someone is being their friend just because they like him/her, or because they want to know a famous person? Or, conversely, might some kids decide they're snobs without truly knowing them, based on their celebrity? None of them asked for this notoriety -- it was thrust upon them.
Mel (#21), there's no doubt in my mind that TLC will continue to squeeze money out of the Duggar franchise. Their attempt at concern for the family's welfare was laughable.
Yes, agree. It doesn't affect the current state of things. I don't understand why he's choosing not to enforce the visitation order. Lack of money for a lawyer maybe?
I get the feeling that there's a whole lot to that story that hasn't come out yet. ****** I always thought that taking turns at the compound was a really terrible idea. However, it seems once Kate got Jon off the property, things went downhill for Jon. I don't know why Kate is allowed to keep them there when it's Jon's visitation. A kid is sick? Sure, I get that. But kids getting to refuse willy nilly?
Great article on Golden Uteri. I also liked this quote:
The GU uses motherhood as an excuse. “Becoming a ‘mother’ is the GU’s excuse for EVERYTHING. She can’t work because ‘mothers don’t work.’ My husband HAS to give her all of his money because she’s the mother of his ONLY child. She lost all identity as a woman and used becoming a mother as her free ride in life” (anonymous source).
Even after their children are in school full-time, GUs still use the kids and being a mother as an excuse not to work outside the home and often not to work inside the home. “You have no idea how stressful it is being a mom.”
Just add "of 8", and you've got it!
The only difference between Kate and a typical "golden uterus" is that Kate's ex is dead.
@Mel please don't tell me TLC is going to use the same excuse they gave Kate."I've changed,im nothing like i used to be.Child molesting/abuse?What molesting/abuse,i don't do that anymore?"

Tucker's Mom said... 196 I can't wrap my head around why Jon isn't getting visitation from some of his kids. This argument about whether deep pockets has given Kate the advantage is rather mute when it comes to 4/6 or 4/8 kids coming down the driveway when Jon arrives. Jon has court ordered visitation. It's won. It's done. Enforcing that has to start with Jon, and as they say, a fish stinks from the head. Something here is awry. *********************
Exactly. There is a judgment and all judgments are enforceable. If only a few of the kids are coming with Jon during his periods of visitation, and the judgment orders visitation with all of them, then he should enforce the visitation as it is ordered. I can't understand not doing so. In my state, if Kate was withholding visitation, she could be found in contempt and there is no filing fee here to bring a motion for contempt. The onus would be on Kate to show just cause to the court why she should NOT be held in contempt and not for Jon to prove why she IS in contempt. Like you said, something is awry.
Yes, I remember that she said the kids were ranked at the top of their class, not once but twice, and one of those times it was in a television interview. I recall at the time she said it my mouth dropped open because I know that the kids aren't "ranked" and I thought, oh, Kate, someone will call you out on that one.
Yes, Tucker's. It’s Groundhog Day, and that means Lancaster County’s marmot, Octorara Orphie of the Slumbering Lodge says an early spring is on the way. You, go, Orphie. He's in darn good shape after 118 years or making predictions. Punxsutawney Phil agreed with Orphie. No groundhog disputes this year.
Kate's living her own Groundhog Day, still filming over and over again, with a repeat of the same "theme." I hope she's not in competition with Orphie for longevity.
I agree very strongly with Admin, Jon is not going to have an officer drag the child out of the home kicking and screaming.
I would add, that with difficulty at school, Jon doesn't want to create more drama for his son, but wants very much to see him. Parents who are the target of parental alienation must behave very carefully, they are continuously vilified by the other parent. These situations can go on for years once the damage is done.

----------- Did she force the child to go back even if she didn't like dance? I've never seen the show, so I know nothing about the mother.
Actually?I think TLC IS going to do the act of"Josh is a changed person"and make him some how the victim.All will be forgive because(like with Kate's child abuse)it happened years ago,hes changed so all is good.

Don't a lot of people think that was worse than sexually abusing his sisters? Otherwise, I think you're right. And the one many prisoners use when applying for parole.
Maybe if parental alienation weren't used constantly by lawyers trying to excuse their clients' behavior,
$$$$
I have never seen parental alienation used constantly nor have I seen it used to excuse behavior, so I really can't relate to that sentiment. Usually it's actually the social worker or judge who first suggests it. They have no motive.
Ah, yes. TLC presents "Josh Duggar: the Road to Transformation", the real life struggle of a young man to overcome mistakes, embarrassment and negative press." There will be regular appearances of the wise and witty Jim Bob Duggar and his engaging wife Michelle as they lead the viewers into their own transformations from hardness of heart to loving spirits.

Yep, Kate has her own personal Groundhog Day, filming the same thing that's been done in the past, only these days it's Steve in the picture instead of Bill Murray.

Why isn't Babykins pregnant yet? This seems to be taking a long time. Boobsters better get on the stick, or get his stick out, or something. Time is of the essence.
According to U.S. District Court documents obtained by RadarOnline.com, Dillon, otherwise known by legal name Ashley Stamm-Northup, requested permission from the judge to voluntarily withdraw her case without prejudice, meaning she would be able to file the lawsuit again in the future.
The 29-year-old adult film actress claimed she previously tried to get Duggar to agree to toss the case without prejudice, but he refused— and had an over-the-top demand!
“Defendant will agree to the dismissal of the case with prejudice only if Plaintiff publishes a statement on all her social media accounts, to remain forever, that the allegations in her complaint are lies, and in addition, Plaintiff must pay Defendant’s attorney’s fees and costs to date,” Dillon’s attorney wrote in the February 1 papers.

********* I'm totally confused. I thought Kate was the one with the stick. ;)
I looked at the site reporting the Josh/Anna filming and I don't know if it's a spoof site. I know that there are several out there, but with that one, I can't tell. KIAT knows all about those sites, so maybe she can check on it!
Is The Gladys still off pouting sonewhere? I think that the last thing she tweeted was when she asked Kate if she had a second date with Vann. Kate had tweeted that she doesn't like when people asked her about dating, but there was good old nosy Gladys asking her if she had another date with him. I don't think that Kate answered.
"U.S. intelligence officials say "top-secret" emails Hillary Clinton kept on her private email server when she headed the State Department include the real names of CIA spies serving undercover overseas — a violation of federal law that has put the agents in harm's way, The Observer reports.
And, The Observer's John Schindler writes, those emails also include the names of foreigners on the CIA payroll, possibly endangering their lives.
"At a minimum, valuable covers have been blown, careers have been ruined, and lives have been put at serious risk. Our spies' greatest concern now is what's still in Hillary's emails that investigators have yet to find," Schindler, a former National Security Agency analyst, says in his report.
He also quotes a senior intelligence community official as saying the security breach is a "death sentence."
"If we're lucky, only [foreign] agents, not our officers, will get killed because of this," the official says.
The Observer report comes four days after the State Department said it was withholding 22 emails from Clinton's server because they contained "top-secret" information, although the agency gave no hint about what that classified information was.
The FBI has been investigating Clinton's use of a private server to determine whether it is a criminal matter.
The Observer calls the breach a clear violation of federal law, citing the Intelligence Identities Protection Act of 1982, voted into law following the murder of the CIA spy in Greece after his identity was disclosed in the media.
CIA brass believe some or all or Clinton's emails, which were kept on her home server and were apparently unencrypted, were intercepted by foreign powers.
Clinton insists she never sent or received e-mails that were marked classified from the home server and blames Republicans for stoking the controversy. She has also asked that the 22 emails being withheld by the State Department be released.
Clinton, the Democratic presidential front-runner, said she doesn't believe Americans are concerned about the email firestorm.
"I can tell you that is not on the minds of the literally thousands of people that I've seen in the last few weeks. I'm glad it isn't," she told CNN."
Oh the email story and straight up lying to the American people just gets worse by the day. I was happy to see voters reflected their disgust at the polls. That should have been a blowout for her. It turned out to be an embarrassing virtual dead tie. To say you won that caucus because you managed to squeeze out a fraction of a percentage more, is ridiculous, especially since it's not winner take all. She's in real trouble now, and I never expected it. Karma comes around eventually.
The court is a trier of fact, so the PR machine has no bearing, except in the court of public opinion. I'm sure you would agree, that your expertise as an attorney is not defined by your billing rate, but rather your knowledge of case law, court procedures, and often how a particular judge views matters presented. Yes, more money allows for depositions, discovery and experts, but even after all of that the facts will remain the facts.
If the case is tried, the facts and evidence are presented and the judge will base his or her decision on the testimony and exhibits introduced.

Oh gosh. I only wish that's how it all worked. That's how it SHOULD work, and sometimes does, but not always.
I would recommend a couple documentaries that do a good job exposing the dark side of the American justice system. Divorce, Inc., which Dr. Drew helped make, and the fantastic series Making a Murderer. They will give you a real flavor for what can really happen in a modern court of law and how unfair and corrupt it can be. One is about civil cases like divorces, the other is a criminal murder trial.
I of course believe in the system and do everything I can to promote and uphold justice, but I'm also not so naive that I think it works exactly as intended.
I don't have any idea if the G twins do well in school or not. I'm glad at least that much is kept private. Teens put so much pressure on themselves these days over grades. To have everyone commenting on your B in math would be worse. I had good grades (and got academic scholarships) but socially I was very immature. My vocabulary was quite good but my parents spoke like adults not stunted adolescents. If I lived with Kate, I might not have talked intelligently either. I hope they are least doing ok in school. I am more worried Kate will refuse to pay for college in hopes of more filming.
Yes, more money allows for depositions, discovery and experts, but even after all of that the facts will remain the facts.

Oh, My. Word. How can lying NOT be on the minds of the American people? How can a lack of trust in a candidate be so unimportant?
On a much much smaller scale, this reminds me of Kate saying that not being able to eat his cupcake never bothered Aaden at all and he forgot all about it. I hope to heaven that Collin doesn't remember the spankings and that her son doesn't remember his mother telling him that she doesn't even want to hear him breathe. What mother with even a bone of maternal instinct in her body would say that to her child? None of that matters because it's all in the past.

Thank you. I'll try to watch them. I can't speak to the application of the judicial process in criminal cases, only to domestic and civil lit cases. And my observations are that the judicial system works. Of course, in family law there aren't any winners, just degrees of losing. Someone always has to give up something, and that is where people seem to base their impression that the decisions rendered were "unfair". That perception though does not mean that the letter of the law wasn't applied. And, if the law wasn't applied correctly thankfully we have appellate courts to review and provide never-ending new case law.
OJ paid for his dream team, and facts were facts, evidence was evidence, but something certainly smelled in that trial and he was acquitted. I'm watching "The People vs. OJ Simpson" right now. *****************
That case was a mess. I remember being glued to my TV throughout much of it.
I was referring to family cases when I commented and my observations are only about domestic cases. There are vastly different rules that govern domestic cases as opposed to criminal. And family law trials look nothing like OJ type trials. Sorry if my post was confusing.

It works when all things are equal going in. Usually.
But in divorce cases when one party has significantly more money and a PR machine, your goose could be cooked.
Kate filibustered Jon with her PR and attorneys. It was a daily PR beating and the family law docket reveals endless court hearings. She was dragging him there constantly. He could either fight her in family law court and go broke or settle. He finally settled.
Another factor is that Jon, because he quit the show and wasn't wealthy anymore, ended up in smaller apartments and houses with kids sleeping in sleeping bags and couldn't give the kids trips like Australia. Kate even complained about them sleeping on the floor. I'm sure she complained to the family law court. Kate, by virtue of her continuing paychecks from TLC, had a mansion for them. Which looks better to the court? Jon tried to stop Australia and lost.
Naturally, the kids have gravitated toward the parent who is able to provide them with all the perks of a wealthy lifestyle. Another severe disadvantage for their father, since the court is supposed to consider their wishes.
Remember Kate's Hoffman lawsuit? Thankfully Jon found one of the best lawyers in the country in dealing with such things who was by some miracle willing to work pro bono. Had he not had Tuma what do you think would have happened? Well, my prediction is Kate would have run him into the ground again with legal paperwork until he was forced to settle again and got screwed again.
Instead Jon got it dismissed, without a penny spent.
It's really an excellent example of when Jon by chance has the big guns on his side vs. when he didn't. It's obvious why he did so well in the Hoffman lawsuit vs. getting smoked in fl court. If Jon really were all bad I would have expected him to lose both lawsuits. Instead he emerges victorious because the best of the best felt charitable. He absolutely won his lawsuit because of Tuma, pure and simple. If Tuma were billing him he would be out thousands to have the best on his side.
In an ironic way it's sort of like a role reversal compared to the family law case when Kate had the best support team. Kate got what was coming.
OJ is another good example. If anyone thinks a public defender could have got him acquitted you're living in a fantasy world. Millions were spent on that. The public defender office doesn't have that budget even for a celeb.
Another thing that happens in family law court is momentum. Once a parent gets a few wins they tend to only build on those wins. What I've noticed about family law court is that it's human nature for people to want to find a good guy and a bad guy. Once you pick your good guy it's almost a matter of pride for some people to switch teams if things emerge that suggest the good guy maybe isn't so good. No judge wants to look stupid because he picked the "wrong" parent to give custody too. It's also frowned upon to switch kids back and forth. Once you pick one, you try to stick with it if at all possible. The players in family law court are human too, not robots, with all the emotions a human has.
There are vastly different rules that govern domestic cases as opposed to criminal. And family law trials look nothing like OJ type trials.
&&&
At least in CA, I wouldn't say they're all that different. We don't have juries in family law, but you still have to follow the evidence code, which isn't all that different from criminal. There's a criminal evidence code and a civil and the differences aren't that marked.
The same rule applies in both courts in my view, the more money you have the better chance you have in our legal system. It was not designed for the poor, this is well documented. In fact it's so lopsided that many states, including CA, have "Access to Justice" groups sanctioned by the Bar or the state to try to improve the poor and middle class access to the legal system in a fair manner. If it were all fair, there was no problem, a rich, middle class or poor man would all get the same treatment, I don't know why we would have those government sanctioned committees.
What about the Casey Anthony case?I admit i didn't follow it but from what i gather there was so much evidence that she did murder her child but in the end she was found not guilty.Was this another case that the person having more money or there wasn't enough evidence to prove it?
John Travolta as Robert Shapiro just isn't working for me and it looks as if Deanna did his makeup, as well as that of Marcia Clark. But much of the other casting is excellent. Watching this brings back so many memories. I still have a pin with Judge Ito's picture that says "No more sidebars! "

That was just a stupid jury. Seriously, they were dumb as a box of rocks. I just shook my head hearing some of their interviews afterward.
However she did have a very good, high-profile and expensive attorney, Jose Baez. And he had a huge role in picking that jury.

Whatever happened to old Lance after his 15 minutes?
Tom Lang was on a Lizzie Borden documentary several years ago, working on forensics at her home in Fall River. It was quite interesting.
Fleecing The Sheeple said... 53 I looked at the site reporting the Josh/Anna filming and I don't know if it's a spoof site. I know that there are several out there, but with that one, I can't tell. KIAT knows all about those sites, so maybe she can check on it! -------------------

So I wouldn't believe anything written there. Sounds like they expanded on the rumor that TLC is bringing back the Duggars.
As far as the rumors that TLC is bringing back the Duggars, there have been reported sightings of them filming. However, that doesn't necessarily mean that they are filming for TLC.
Perhaps, the UP network is going to air them instead. That is the network that airs the Bates family, who are good friends of the Duggars. In fact, Jana Duggar appears in an upcoming episode of "Bringing Up Bates", where she is a bridesmaid for one of the Bates' daughters.
KIAT (#71), I'm still convinced Josh will be back in the media after his rehab stint. Can't you just picture the People Magazine cover with him grinning innocently, Anna gazing up at him, and some cornball quote like, "I'm A Changed Man?" Then a book, a redemption tour (complete with love offerings), then maybe their own spin-off series?
Remember, the world seemed more appalled at Josh's cheating admission than his owning up to molesting his younger sisters. His family certainly seemed to be. So if he can convince people he's truly sorry about the cheating, and has been "cured," I don't see why this dog-and-pony show won't continue.

I saw a program years ago where they went into the Borden house and sprayed luminal in the basement up at the top of the ceiling where they thought blood might have seeped down through the cracks, even though it was a hundred years before.
The basement wall it up like crazy after almost a hundred years!
Totally agree that Deanna was the makeup artist in the OJ series! snark!
TLC stinks (#72), you've got me thinking about the birthday now. I wonder if they're saving Vann for a TFW birthday episode? Maybe a deep-sea fishing trip, where she could say she realized she was wrong taking her kids if they got sick, so she decided to go without them? But since she's such a demure single mom, it couldn't be an overnight trip -- they'd have to fly somewhere for the day.

******* I don't know. Not even an Oscar-worthy, Jimmy Swaggart "I have sinned" performance can make most people get past Josh molesting 5 young girls. Philandering and cheating? Sure. Banging prostitues? Meh. But groping and diddling his own little sisters is anathema in our culture. Josh would HAVE to address that head on in order to possibly put it behind him, and have the audience not see him as a sexual pervert. I don't know how anyone, any man, could make what he did relatable and forgivable.

Vows that she would do it on her own. Wow. What a lie. Then why if you are doing it on your own, WHY has a film crew followed your children running in and out of frame and you sit on a loveseat giving your commentary about it? I can't stand it when she flitters her fingernails right into the camera. UGH!
They just didn't drive up one day years ago and start filming! They had to have permission and money!!!

*My sadness and anger *What the kids know *Jon's mad he got caught *Vows she'll do it on her own if she has to ****** A coup de grace for Kate, her PR team, People magazine and TLC. It firmly established Kate as the victim, left by a no-good, cheating husband to raise 8 kids on her own. It was truly brilliant. Kudos to them all (in a sardonic, slow golf-clap kind of way).
I liked the portrayal of Marcia Clark and the prosecutor office. Very realistic. Their first thought was this was open and shut, and it's interesting to watch how it unravels under OJ's multi million dollar dream team.
I don't think the not guilty verdict in the OJ trial had as much to do with a "dream team" as it did with the racial composition of the jury, 9 blacks, 1 Hispanic and 1 white. It's said that the prosecution's biggest mistake was possibly choosing to holf the trial in downtown LA rather than in Santa Monica.

February 3, 2016 at 7:57 AM ******* The atmosphere in L.A. was ripe for letting O.J. get off with murder. People didn't care if OJ brutally killed 2 people; they cared that a black man "won". It was a racial victory which was symbolic. It was a low point in the history of humanity.
The dream team is absolutely to be credited with convincing the jury this was a racial issue and the police were suspect. To even get some of the things they got into evidence is incredibly impressive. And that's what millions buys you.
Watching Marcia Clark on The View. First of all, you'd never recognize her. Second, she's very supportive of the tv series and how and who portrayed her (Sarah Paulson). Shocking that when they jury went to see OJ's home, it was totally staged to influence the jury. Clark objected and was overruled. Unbelievable.
What's good though is that apparently identical polls taken recently show a much different environment in LA, with most people now accepting OJ is guilty and it wasn't a racial issue at all.
I thought David Schwimmer was quite good as Robert Kardashian, a best friend slowly realizing all is not what he thought.
Sarah Paulson is paying Clarke with restraint. It's a good performance. I wonder if her hair will change throughout the trial like it did.
I recognize Paulson from Game Change as one of Sarah Palin's handlers. She was excellent in that too. She totally nailed the "how did I end up here" feeling.
I thought the OJ trial was fascinating back in the day. I had no desire to watch a replay. He got away with murder because DNA testing was new and the defense put reasonable doubt in the jury's mind. He had motive and opportunity. I am glad he is jail even if it's not for her and Goldman's murders. I drove past the condo where she was murdered a few years ago. So eerie.

No one had to convince that jury that there was a racial issue going on. They came into it with their minds made up that OJ was innocent. It was payback time--big time.
******************** In family law evidence there is no fruit of the poisonous tree or other defenses against evidence, and it is much easier to introduce exhibits.
I still respectfully disagree that money buys you better attorneys, and disagree that in family law an attorney who bills at a higher hourly rate produces better results. On Jon's civil lit case, I agree from the information available that Tuma did a great job for him, but the victory was a result of Tuma's expertise, not his billing rate.
In my opinion, there is some factor, unknown to the public, that heavily influenced the court's decisions in the divorce/custody case. I speculate that there was something revealed that didn't paint Jon in a favorable light. He was unstable during that time and I can see how his lifestyle then would have looked less than ideal to a court. It can certainly be argued that was a brief period of instability for him and not a true reflection of his character, but unfortunately it was the snapshot of his life on which the judge had to base his/her opinion of Jon. And yes, it is difficult to change the tide when a court has already formed an opinion of the party.
I knew that was a spoof site. Radar would have been all over Josh Duggar getting a show. I do agree there will be a People cover, though. People is in bed with TLC.
I think TLC smartly moved Kate after Little Couple to boost her ratings because they were obligated for another season. I know we have said it before, but I think she is treading water going beyond this new season and she knows it.
I do not believe Vann will be back, even if TLC offered him top $$$.
I recognize Paulson from Game Change as one of Sarah Palin's handlers. She was excellent in that too. She totally nailed the "how did I end up here" feeling. ***** I loved that movie. Paulson nailed Wallace's utter frustration and sublimated disgust with McCain's insane choice of running mate. Talk about a silk purse from a sow's ear.
Did Paulson play Nicole Wallace from Game Change? The movie was awesome.
I watched Palin endorse Trump and Trump had this WTH look on his face. Had to be done for votes I suppose, but Trump said in an interview she approached him for her endorsement.

No rest for the weary, right?
OT but on the OJ Simpson case.... a really good book is Triumph of Justice by Daniel Petrocelli; he was the Goldman's attorney who sued OJ in civil court and won a $33 million verdict. Its very interesting and gives more info on the case, what they did that the prosecution didn't as far as witnesses (interviewing, locating them, etc). I read it years ago and thought it was a great book.

****** Thank you for weighing in with your legal expertise. It's very informative and helps lay persons like me understand a bit more, how the gears turn. I think yours is the best explanation- the Occam's Razor- for why Jon has been the underdog in this matter. That said, if we go with this sort of theory, we know that Jon has been awarded visitation. Despite his utter douchebaggery with Hailey Glassman and Ed Hardy, and let's not forget, liaisons with Michael Lohan and Kate Major, he gets to see his kids, according to the court. What could be a legal reason that Kate has not been held in contempt for flagrantly ignoring a court order? Jon seems in fear of his ex, imo. (and not just because she could unhinge her jaw and swallow him whole)
I agree, Sue. There was definitely a racial component in regards to the OJ trial. He was a former black athlete and tv personality with a great smile and sense of humor. He was the American Dream; rich, handsome, beautiful wife, successful.
Some thoughts on the divorce/custody issues .... what we might be missing is that Jon may have at some point in the last few years, agreed to have only some of the kids and is now, I feel, not telling the complete truth about the situation. I've long thought they've been splitting the kids on visitation and even him not having them overnight. I've thought that his kids may not have got along with Liz and/or her kids, he many not have had room to keep all 8, and both Liz and Jon smoked (some kids may have had a problem with that, perhaps medical). Then when he split with Liz, perhaps he didn't have enough room for them. He also started dj'ing after that, working at night, perhaps he had no one to watch them while he worked (and no money to pay anyone). Then he moved in with his current girlfriend, perhaps there isn't enough room for all 8 at a time; and again you have him dj'ing at night. Now perhaps he wants to change it but these reasons may still exist and Kate is not cooperating. These are just feelings I've had about all this when I think about it. I also think Jon agreed to the initial custody arrangement in 2009 so the kids could remain in their home (I've known people who did that initially in divorce/custody) but then his actions and lack of his own residence to accomodate the kids, affected what then happened to custody arrangements.
TLC stinks said... 100 I agree, Sue. There was definitely a racial component in regards to the OJ trial. He was a former black athlete and tv personality with a great smile and sense of humor. He was the American Dream; rich, handsome, beautiful wife, successful.
Most definitely a racial opponent. No matter how many polls may say otherwise. LOL The Rodney King verdict resulted in a horrible riot, over 2000 injured. I'll never get the image out of my mind of Reginald Denny being pulled out of his truck and beaten include being hit in the head with a concrete block.
Each time the prosecution questioned a possible black juror, Johnny Cochran leaped up and suggested it was racially motivated.
I agree, JM. I remember there was an issue when he lived in a apartment that the kids had to sleep on the floor. Why Kate has denied him seeing Colin, I have no idea. I think the twins call the shots whether they want to see Jon or not. He has an attorney so I suspect they may be in some back and forth about visitation and/or custody.
Of course it was. No one said otherwise. What was said is that today, in 2016, an overwhelming majority of Los Angelans believe OJ is guilty because he's guilty, not because he was black as residents polled said in 1995. I believe that is accurate.
Even as a reasonable mom, which TFW clearly isn't, I wouldn't be happy about the kids sleeping on the floor on a regular basis.
Once in a while, sure. But not every other weekend.
It's unfortunate that his personal circumstances don't allow for him to have all 8 at once, overnight. And while a good share of his circumstances are directly attributable to TFW, they don't seem to be able to be changed. Thus, they are what they are.
I agree that he's probably not being entirely honest about this stuff. Neither is TFW. They're just dishonest in different ways, IMO.
No one had to convince that jury that there was a racial issue going on. They came into it with their minds made up that OJ was innocent.
&&&&
If no one had to convince the jury of anything why did the defense spend months explaining to them why OJ was framed due to racial issues?
Are you suggesting the jury decided, without weighing the evidence, OJ was guilty because of racism? A jury pre-determining their decision would be very improper, and grounds for a mistrial. I'm sure if there was any evidence that was the case the prosecutor's office would have thought of that.
The defense took advantage of the climate at the time for certain, but to not give them any credit for doing a phenomenal job winning this trial and to accuse the jury of improper and illegal conduct is just nonsense, not to mention unfair. I do not believe OJ could not have gotten this result with a public defender who has a budget of $5000 for experts, testing, or whatever their murder cases budget was at the time.
It's unfortunate that his personal circumstances don't allow for him to have all 8 at once, overnight. --------------------- We really don't know what Jon's personal circumstances are. He may very well be able to have all the kids overnight.
We really don't know what Jon's personal circumstances are. He may very well be able to have all the kids overnight.
Currrently, who knows. I guess I was thinking about quite a while back when it was said that some of the kids were sleeping on the floor. I wasn't clear.
JM said... 101 ******** Well said and I agree-makes total sense. But again, I ask (not you in particular-just shouting into the night), why has this father not seen his own son in over a year? Acts of God happen. Medical crisis happen. Countries go to war. People leave. Diasporas happen. But please tell me why a father who lives within a simple car drive of his son not see him or touch him in over a year?
Feel free to ignore my hair pulling at this point ;-)
I lost my dad when I was 17. That's 2 years older than the twins.
What I'd give to see my dad. To have him see me graduate H.S. and college. To have him give me away at my wedding. To see him hold his grandkids.
Marcia Clark looks completely different. I think she must have gotten some plastic surgery, although it's good plastic surgery. She also put on some weight and it went to her face, I think. But healthy weight.

She looks good. ******* Yes and yes. I think her personal contentment is evident. A tough thing after what she'd been through. I was happy to see her happy. Yeah, the perm shaming was bad back in the day ;-)
So I thought I'd share this tidbit with you all. I will be the first, as a southern gal, admit that I always called my parents mama and daddy. It was a different time and I don't hear it anymore. I was talking to a friend and she said her granddaughter has decided to give up calling her mother mommie and call her mom. The reason; kids make fun of using mommie. The age; THREE. So maybe it's a regional thing or not, but I find it interesting that all the G kids use "mommie". Knowing the Golden Uterus, is she babyfying the kids?
There is an issue with juries for a case like OJ Simpson. For a 3-6 month trial, how many can actually serve? What if your job won't pay you so all you get is the jury stipend? What if you have toddlers? Etc. I have twice been called to District Court (Federal) for a very long trial. I have health issues that make it tough and the commute would be bad. They'll pay for a hotel for you if you're so many miles away. I'm about 5 miles under that so it's 1 1/2 hour commute for me. Every day for 3 months. My last one they brought in 900 people. We filled out a 60 page questionnaire that took about 2 hours. Then from that they were going to call some back for interviews. Death penalty case, children trapped and burned in a home, other crimes. Could you do it?

People, TLC, Kate, PR team.
All together, how about a wonky shaped Bermuda Triangle?
Are you suggesting the jury decided, without weighing the evidence, OJ was guilty because of racism?
Yes I am. The jury was composed of 9 black women, plus 9 jurors thought he was less likely to be guilty because he was a professional athlete and 5 had had run-ins or their family members had had run-ins with the police.
From Carl Douglas, coordinating attorney for the defense team:
"No one could really appreciate and understand the O.J. Simpson verdict without understanding the prism through which these jurors examined the facts of this case. In Los Angeles I dare say you could speak to seven African Americans at random, and out of that seven, five would have had a negative experience to talk to you about -- about themselves, a family member, or a friend at the hands of the police department. And no one can really properly analyze this verdict without appreciating the dynamics between the Los Angeles Police Department and the black community of Los Angeles.
"Those women [the African American jurors] are the mothers, the wives, the sisters, and the girlfriends of African American men, all of whom over the years had been mistreated by the police. And therefore, they were open to the potential argument that the police might in fact plant evidence or lie against someone accused of a serious crime."
Do I think those women would have found OJ guilty? No.
I don't believe the whole fan's "theory"that Collin hates his father.I do agree with admin in that if Jon was a douche bag like his haters think i don't think any of his kids would want to see him.Now i have no evidence to support this but this is my belief.Since Collin seems to be the kid that wants to be loved by his mom,i think in his mind he thinks that if he spends more 1 on 1 time with his mother that Kate could learn to appreciate him more and get to know him better.This is what i think.Again i have no evidence to support this.
Ever since watching Shark Tank, I have learned a lot. lol Mr. Wonderful/Uncle Kevin and his perpetuity! Barbara is my favorite shark!

Found out the next day it was too late. I saw one in a magazine being sold for 79.99! The magazine was at someone's house and I had never seen that magazine there before.
A man in 1962? in our town started making chicken fingers and called them chicken fingers. He was going to copyright the name but found out that it cost 12K. In 1962, was a lot of money. If he had trademarked it, he would of been a billionaire.
I agree that he's probably not being entirely honest about this stuff. Neither is TFW. They're just dishonest in different ways, IMO.
&&&&&&&&&&&&&&
I don't agree that he is not being entirely honest. From what I know, he's been totally truthful in what he has put out. The thing is that there is so much more to it than he is willing to get into. The more you disclose, the more under scrutiny it will come, with the public and the media taking it, running with it, perhaps twisting it, and those who are interested will want answers.
Perhaps at some point more will be revealed. I just don't know. Until then, we can make assumptions, discuss what we do know, speculate, and form our own conclusions. We can agree to disagree.
Tucker's mom, I just could not make myself watch that O.J. thing. Watched it in real time the first time and it was awful! My heart still goes out to Kim Goldman. I want to say I enjoy your insights re: TFW and the 8 (count 'em) kids. No matter how galling her behavior gets, TLC still promotes.
In the wee hours of the morning, I was watching a documentary on James Garfield. I have no idea why, except that right now insomnia is really getting annoying and I thought that would be boring enough to put me to asleep. The show had the reverse effect. It was really good, humanizing a President rather than just memorizing a name on a long list that we learned in school.
Anyway, the assassin was an 1800s stalker who started out being an obsessed Garfield "fan." He had written a speech about Garfield and had convinced himself that he was the reason for Garfield's political success. He was delusional and mentally unstable. He wanted Garfield to thank him for his support and pledge his undying gratitude to him. He followed him around, hanging out at the White House, believing he was part of Garfield's family and inner circle. He would send messages to Garfield and told him to wait up for him, that he was coming to see him during the night. He once followed the President around DC for a month. He was told by those close to Garfield to knock it off. Garfield, while initially being courteous to him, had enough of the stalking and chose to ignore him.
This set off the assassin. It was a case of "I will not be ignored" after everything he thought he did for the President. He bought a pistol and shot him at a train station. What started out as a fascination with a well-known person ended in tragedy. The description of this entire incident reminded me so much of Kate's fans, one in particular. You just never know what someone is capable of doing.
History lesson and musing is over. Time to check my Schnitz Und Knepp on the stove.

PA Dutch Mom (#120), that Garfield assassin story was so interesting! Yes, he sounded just like an obsessed fan, looking for gratitude for something he was never asked to do in the first place.
Swimgirl (#122), if that branding guy tried to talk to TFW, all she'd hear was "blah blah blah" anyway. Unless the advice comes with a giftcard, she ain't interested!
And therefore, they were open to the potential argument that the police might in fact plant evidence or lie against someone accused of a serious crime."

A juror being "open" to something is perfectly appropriate.
But to accuse them of deciding a trial before hearing the evidence, is to accuse them of juror misconduct, a serious offense. I'm sorry, but that is irresponsible and inappropriate. What's more, there's no way the proseuction would not have raised a juror misconduct issue if there was one. No way.
The fact that they ended up acquitting OJ because they were more open to various possibilities due to their own experiences, does not prove that they decided to acquit him before they ever sat down there in the box.
I just served on a jury and the judge explained it well: he said there is nothing inappropriate about relying on your own life experiences to help you make a decision. That's how everyone makes decisions. The misconduct comes when you disregard the evidence in favor of your own exprience. There is absolutely no evidence that happened in the OJ trial. None. Of course the defense tried to find jurors who were more open to police misconduct than others. Just like on the jury I served on, the defense was trying to find jurors open to other possibilites other than the defendant. Was there juror misconduct on my hung jury just because a lot of the folks on there were open to some pretty wild, in my opinion, conspiracy theories about who done it? Of course not.
Not LIKING the result, as I don't either, does not prove something improper happened in getting to that result.

Jeanne, they are supposed to let you off for a real hardship. If you're not getting off for your medical issues you need to ask to speak to the judge. Long juries are made up mostly of retired folks, the unemployed and government workers who get unlimited jury days.
On my jury there was no problem for anyone who needed to get off for a financial, medical or personal hardship. The judge just asked them to explain, and he let everyone off. For medical issues, they were allowed to explain to the judge in private. With the exception of one man who worked for Metro, who said he would have a financial hardship. The judge said just a moment, let me look something up. He pulled out a code book and said sir, please inform your supervisor you are entitled to paid jury days. You have no hardship. The man said oh thank you, I will. He was on.
One woman even got off not because she would have a hardship but because the woman who worked for her would because she couldn't work either.
Kate is a twit said... 125 ******************* That makes sense. I wondering why there would be any interest in interviewing her now. I saw tweets today on her timeline. She really should mention these interviews to her 6 fans to boost the ratings.

She really wants to do it but she would have to miss college classes, many of which count participation towards their grade...is being in college considered a hardship (she goes to school in the town the court is in)
I was called for jury duty at the same time I had orders to be in Washington, DC. That was hard to get off jury duty, but finally the State decided that Federal superseded State and I got off jury duty. I had to have my supervisor write a letter and provide them with a copy of the orders. They were not pleased.
"This "in the air" phenomenon couldn't help but contribute, in some way, to the eventual not-guilty verdict."
The "in the air" phenomenon he's talking about is the resounding support OJ had before the trial: the 350,000 letters of support, sportscaster's support, thousands calling in on radio talk shows asserting his innocence.
Interesting article. Bugliosi also explains why OJ's attorneys weren't exactly a dream team.
I doubt the prosecution would have had any luck bringing up juror misconduct with Judge Ito. He turned out to be highly unpredictable:
"Although the latest wave of criticism does not focus on Judge Ito's legal decisions, most lawyers in the case, including the most publicly obsequious, complain bitterly about them when promised anonymity. Prosecutors are furious about what they consider the misleading, loaded hypothetical questions he has let defense lawyers ask; defense lawyers are just as angry that he allowed testimony about the Simpsons' troubled marriage and, more recently, circumscribed the defense's cross-examination about DNA evidence.
"He gave a particularly long leash to the defense lawyers in their cross-examinations, both to avoid creating issues for appeal and, perhaps, to seem fair to millions of people watching him on television. For this, too, he was criticized."
He gave a particularly long leash to the defense lawyers in their cross-examinations,
&&&&
Well, all I can say is that is commentary, opinion, and I disagree with it. I could provide a bunch of links with opposite opinions. Bottom line is, an allegation of juror misconduct is simply not supported by the evidence.
It's completely normal for a judge to give the defense a lot of leeway. It happens in my court all the time, as well as criminal court. REmember we're supposed to be a nation in which we are innocent until proven guilty, and one way to ensure we are doing that correctly is to ensure the defense has a lot of room to explore a case and not limit them unless absolutely necessary. I also agree informatino about his marraige was properly admitted, but of course a good defense team is going to object to that, that's their job. Some lawyers wouldn't, which is why they are better.
I have no problem with some hypothetical questions, and even some leading questions, depending, and within reason. Sometimes it's just easier to get to the point that way.
We can go back and forth on it all day but in my mind his lawyers were excellent and the dream team is a very fair characterization. You don't get to a not guilty in a case like that by accident. Karma came around and he's sitting in jail. I feel sorry for all the victims but the Goldmans is especially heartbreaking.
I was there, I lived it, didn't read about it after the fact.
&&&&
Yeah, so, I lived it all too in real time. I'm not reading about it later like it's the Civil War or something. Not that I think someone cannot have a valid opinion who didn't experience it. Of course they can.
Frankly anonymous, I think there's a real argument that a privileged white person's idea that they actually understand and "experienced" (from the local news on their TV screen in Pacific Palisades, Calabasas, or whatever nice neighborhood) the racial climate in LA in the 90's "laughable", but then, I wasn't going to bring that up and try to make someone's opinion seem less-than just because of who they are or what their experiences are. I find that completely unnecessary and patronizing, and yet, it's happening from said poster directed at me and others. But that's just me.
An argument that someone's opinion isn't valid because they didn't experience some event exactly the same as the other person, is a straw man, pure and simple. You don't know how I experienced this event, how old I was or how or how much I was aware of (for the record, I watched the entire trial, among digesting many other things--I was very aware) and I don't find it relevant to the conversation. That's like saying no one can understand or talk about the results of the Iowa caucuses if they don't live in Iowa, as just one simple current example.
The other poster has presented no evidence, none, of juror misconduct other than hunches and implications. Until they do, I stand by my opinion that accusation is outlandish.
Midnight Madness said... 135 I was there, I lived it, didn't read about it after the fact. The jury was not going to send OJ to prison.

Well, he's sittin' there now, until next year when he is up for parole.
Yes he is, a 300 pound lump who I hear loses his grip with reality from time to time. He did end up where he belongs, but there is not as much satisfaction somehow, is there?
In the wee hours of the morning, I was watching a documentary on James Garfield. I have no idea why, except that right now insomnia is really getting annoying and I thought that would be boring enough to put me to asleep. The show had the reverse effect. It was really good, humanizing a President rather than just memorizing a name on a long list that we learned in school.
====
I watched it last night too and yes, it was very interesting. I guess it isn't a coincidence that I also thought of a certain Kate fan after they talked about the man who stalked and finally shot Garfield, in that he was always trying to advise him and did not like to be ignored.
I also learned that Alexander Graham Bell invented the first metal detector. Too bad Dr. Bliss had such a big ego, otherwise Bell might have been able to use the detector on both sides of the president's body to locate the bullet.
And now, dear PA Dutch Mom, thanks to you I'll be making Schnitz Und Knepp this weekend. I looked up a recipe for it after you mentioned it. I HAVE GOT to try it.
In other news,Kate once again told her fans to report a fake Kate account on twitter.Is it me or does anyone here believe that some of those fake accounts are set up by Kate just because her TL dies alot? @Kateplusmy8 IMPORTANT:ONLY THIS VERIFIED Twitter acct IS MINE! @Support PLEASE REMOVE similarly named imposter NOW please! #No0inMyTwitter #Thx
I was personally let out of those juries because of my medical issues. Also because I do not support the death penalty. But you can end up with some very strange juries. That's why you get a lot of postal workers or other federal employees because they still get paid. Or you get someone who just wants to be part of a spectacle. I'm sure they try to get decent juries but I think a lot of the time it's really hard. How many people can really stop their lives for 3 months? (Around the right time for the trial, I saw an article in our newspaper for crimes that sounded like the description given to us. Then not much coverage until he was found guilty, about 3 months. I never found out if he got the death penalty.)
Why does she have to ask her fans to do Steve's job?
Isn't he head of security, the road manager, the bodyguard?
He is more than qualified to fill out the online form on twitter. It boils down to she does not want to ask him to do it and she is just to lazy to do it herself.
What does she do all day? What a nut!
If anybody can find that fake account, that would be KIAT!
I don't use a recipe, so I'm sorry I can't give you mine to work with. I just kind of dump! I learned from watching my grandmother make this for Sunday dinners. There are quite a few recipes online, but this is the closest I can find to the way I make it. Have fun with this, and make sure you don't cook the knepp too long or it will get tough; not long enough, and it will be mushy. I use potatoes if I have them on hand, but I usually don't add them.
"Schnitz und Knepp (Ham with Dried Apples and Dumplings)
Serves 6 to 8
Schnitz und Knepp is an old Pennsylvania Dutch recipe meaning 'Apples and Buttons'. It is made with dried apples, the Schnitz, ham and dumplings, which are the Knepp or buttons. It is a kind of 'sweet and sour' dish, the apples being tart and the brown sugar adding sweetness. Schnitz und Knepp takes some time to cook, but it is relatively easy to prepare and makes a delicious, comforting main dish. The potatoes are not always added, so the choice is yours.
Ingredients 3 pounds smoked ham with bone 4 cups dried tart apples 3 tablespoons brown sugar 1 large onion, finely chopped Cinnamon to taste (optional) 2 medium potatoes, cut into 1/2-inch cubes (optional)
Dumplings (Knepp) 2 cups sifted all-purpose flour 1/4 teaspoon salt 4 teaspoons baking powder 3 tablespoons butter (I use unsalted) 1 large egg, beaten 1/2 to 2/3 cup milk
In a large pot, cover ham with cold water. Bring to boil, reduce and simmer for 2 hours or until ham is tender. Meanwhile, put apples in bowl and cover with water. Soak for at least 2 hours. Remove ham from bone and cut into medium pieces. Return ham to pot. Add apples with most of apple liquid. Add brown sugar, onion and cinnamon (optional). Cover and simmer for 30 minutes. Add potatoes and simmer an additional 30 minutes.
For dumplings, sift or whisk together sifted flour, salt and baking powder. Cut in butter with two knives or pastry cutter. Stir in egg. Gradually add enough milk to make a moist, fairly stiff dough, gently stirring just enough to bring it together. Drop dough by tablespoons into simmering stew. Cover tightly and simmer for 12-15 minutes, or until dumplings are done. Serve immediately.
Note: You can make dumplings using your favorite baking mix. Follow the directions on the box."
&&&&&&&&&
We eat it with a side of lettuce (just iceberg lettuce, not a salad) with hot bacon dressing. In the spring, we use dandelion instead of lettuce.
"You Pennsylvania Dutch sure know how to cook!"
&&&&&&&
Ah, yes, it's what we do best! When the Amish have barn raisings, all of the women are at work in the kitchen while the men build the barn. During dinner break, the food is brought outside to a long table called a "groaning board," which consists of volumes of food served family style. I guess in its own way it's like craft services on steroids!
"I also learned that Alexander Graham Bell invented the first metal detector. Too bad Dr. Bliss had such a big ego, otherwise Bell might have been able to use the detector on both sides of the president's body to locate the bullet. "
&&&&&&&&&&&&&&
There were so many people digging around inside his body to locate that bullet that it's amazing they all didn't meet up in there for a beer and burgers. What's really sad is that Garfield most likely would have lived if those probing fingers had been sterilized. They just put their unwashed fingers inside like they were on a wild mission to see who could pull out a prize, never giving thought to the fact that they would cause massive infections. If they had left well enough alone, he most likely would have survived with the bullet inside of him.
I don't think wondering that out loud is an accusation of misconduct
&&&&
The poster did much more than raise questions, they specifically accused the jury of misconduct.
I think it's absolutely undisputed various biases and outside influences came into play. It would for any jury. Juries are not perfect and even though we want them to do not operate in a bubble in these high profile cases. But that's very different than accusing them of breaking the law.
The prosecution did a gutsy thing and chased down Mark Furhman and saw to it he was prosecuted, they would certainly not be afraid to go after the jury for misconduct if there were any. There is no misconduct and they know it.
A stupid jury is not misconduct. A jury that likes conspiracy theories is not misconduct. A jury that is mostly black and thinks everyone is racist isn't misconduct either. A jury that decides a witness is not credible because he LIED on the stand is not only not misconduct, but PROPER. None of these things are misconduct.
Hopefully you're not talking about me because you don't know my experiences
&&&&
I get it, I'm not allowed to talk about your experiences but you are allowed to assume I can't possibly have any experiences that would allow me to understand racial tension and therefore have no business having any kind of valid opinion on the OJ case.
WTF????? I have spent eight years knee deep in the absolute UNDERBELLY of this country. I have seen things no one here would believe. And yet I would never, ever assume someone cannot talk about the sort of things I've seen just because they personally haven't seen exactly what I see.
There is something messed up when Kate goes ballistic on Twitter announcing a fake account. Such drama. It's funny she thinks she can just tweet @support to take care of it or have her fans do it.
The twins are on social media despite Kate's claims. They are on their iPhones like any teen ( they keep them grasped like Kate) so they must be communicatin' with someone, LOL.

********** Kate sits on her Twitter timeline all. day. long. She was on this like white on rice. She does nothing when those kids are in school.
And her asshole lackies were falling over each other trying to be first in line to report it to Twitter, then come back and beg for praise from their Queen.

I'm sure they try to get decent juries but I think a lot of the time it's really hard. ========== I know you probably didn't mean this the way it sounds, but I'm a federal employee and would like to think that I'd be good on a jury.
Tucker's Mom (#147), wasn't TFW MIA for a week on Twitter, except for the "school of fish" tweet? But she pops in with one complaint, and the fans are ready to jump to her aid. They have set the bar so low for her, and that's the way she likes it. They give, she takes. It's beyond me how anyone could mistake that for a relationship.
The dh and I finally watched the movie Groundhog Day on Groundhog Day. We enjoyed it. We both had seen bits and pieces over the years, but not the whole movie. I want to catch some of the People vs. OJ Simpson movie. Sarah Paulson has been fabulous in the American Horror Story arcs she has been in, really like her work. At the time of the real trial, I was working in office with African American staff and white staff, and there were cheers from co-workers when he was found innocent. The trial turned into an indictment of the racism that was apparently rampant in the police department. There is a good article in People this week, that gives a "where are they now" synopsis, and Mark Fuhrman the lead detective was found guilty of perjury in separate trial, lying on the stand about never using disparaging racial terms. The judge allowed the defense to turn the trial into a trial of the ethics and behavior of the police department, instead of a murder trial. And it was endless! I think the judge was definitely influenced by the cameras. It was the skill of Johnny Cochran, and what the judge allowed, that made the decision almost inevitable. The update in People on OJ is that he has a sad existence. One medical expert thinks he suffers from the concussion syndrome that so many NFL players have, and that had symptoms of aggression, impulsiveness, anger which could have been present at the time of his marriage. Also quotes Kris Jenner who was best friends with Nicole and OJ, and she states that Nicole hid the domestic violence from her.
TLC stinks (#146), I can't decide if TFW is just lying about the girls not having social media accounts, or if she is just so naive as to believe them when that's what they tell her.
JoyinVirginia said... 150 ****** My workplace was the same. I remember being frightened of the verdict being disclosed in the middle of he workday. The L.A. riots were flashing through my mind. People rejoicing in OJ getting off, while 2 people were slashed to death, almost decapitated, made me sick to my stomach.
@flimsyFlamsy sometimes i believe she does lie on purpose because she knows her fans would be crazy enough to ask her which account it is and they would try to find it.Though on the other hand Jon said the twins do have social media and his fans didn't do anything and i herd someone said they found their accounts though im unsure.However if she is clueless about their accounts,funny how Jon knows they have accounts and yet the twins were supposedly the 2 out of the 4 kids that don't go to jons.How does that work?
I don't use a recipe, so I'm sorry I can't give you mine to work with. I just kind of dump! I learned from watching my grandmother make this for Sunday dinners.

Thank you so much PA! I'm looking forward to trying your Schnitz und Knepp. I think I'd eat a boiled boot if it came with dumplings. When I was a kid my mother used to kick me out of the kitchen when she made dumplings because I'd always lift the lid to make them klitschig, which was the way I liked them. I still do that and she still gets mad at me.
I think the fact that Jon presumabley does not have 8 beds is probably a huge factor. I think he knows exactly why he only gets 4 kids at a time. What I do believe is he doesn't know which 4. If I were a mom, I would want my kids to have beds, especially at this age. I think that is a reasonable expectation.
Cara and Mady are also old enough, imo, to have some say weather they wanted to see their dad.
My parent's divorced when I was 16. My dad was more strict and I got away with a lot living with my mom. My dad screwed my mom over in ways such as not signing the spousal support checks, leaving his last name (her last name, too) off the envelope, which she showed me and other acts of ridiculousness. However, I still respected by dad as my dad. When he said meet me for lunch, dinner or we are going on vacation, I just minded. He really didn't want to make things miserable for me and he was very busy working. I don't hold any of that against him. I love him dearly and he is my rock. Jon is losing time, but he will win in the end, maybe even with Collin.
Wanted to comment on the mama and daddy thing as well. I am 50+ and I still call my father daddy. As does my brother and sister. We refer to our mother as mother or mama.
I don't think that it is unfair to say that the jury may have had some bias, which may have been unconscious. We all see things through the lens of our experience, and routinely discard information that opposes and give more credibility to what supports their own experience. To someone who has never experienced a negative interaction with the police, or discrimination, the idea of a conspiracy may seem ridiculous. To others, it makes perfect sense. Isn't that at the core of jury selection? to find those whose life experience is the most beneficial?
I don't think that it is unfair to say that the jury may have had some bias,
$$$
Absolutely it's fair to say. No one said otherwise. What was alleged was that the jury decided the case before weighing the evidence. That is juror misconduct. Of that there is absolutely no evidence.

IMO, Kate is lying about the twins having social media accounts. In a way, I can't blame her.
I think she's afraid that her "tweeties"(especially Milo) will start following the twins on their social media accounts and she realizes that is a bad thing.
I will at least give her credit for that.
I have seen accounts that show the twins interacting with some of Kate's friends(Jamie, Deanna and Ashley) and those same friends reply to them. Why would Kate's friends respond to them if the accounts were fake?
Although Kate may interact with her "tweeties", I think she may also realize that her "tweeties" would glom onto Mady's and Cara's social media accounts, just like they did with Jamie and Deanna.
"IMO, Kate is lying about the twins having social media accounts."
**********************
IIRC, wasn't there recently some commotion on Twitter how some sort of famous person made reference to the twins and Kate's fans immediately rushed to her timeline to tell her.
Kate's response was something about how she knew because the twins ran "screeching" into her room to tell her.
How could they know about it if they weren't on twitter?
I agree though, if they do have social media accounts no one needs to know about it and I don't blame her for deflecting on that issue.
Although it does seem somewhat hypocritical to argue that you're protecting your children's privacy while at the same time filming them for a reality show.
I think Mady and Cara are very savvy when it comes to social networking. They have accounts, they are just private. I do believe it, though, when Kate says they are not on Twitter or Facebook. That would be too obvious but teens have ways.

KIAT Yes i said the same thing and if she really is lying on purpose because of that,i don't really blame her because it would be crazy from BOTH sides.You would have 1 side that would send the twins the hoffman book and then u would have the Kate fans that hate jon that WOULD send the twins old negative articles about Jon.It would just be a crazy all out war.Gladys(i said this before)would just annoy the twins by sending them memes and telling them things like"You girls are so lucky to have such a wonderful mother like @Kateplus8 who loves and supports you #happytwins #lovingfamily".Though i wouldn't be shicked if she was the 1st to send the twins negative things about their father.
Sheri (#159), yes, it's the hypocrisy that gets me. Like when she got all dramatic about the forest of trees that she claimed to have lost in a storm. She said they gave her "privacy." This from a woman who described in detail how her daughter responded to her parents' divorce.
And how about when TFW put tape on the kids' backpacks to cover their names? Lady, here's a clue about protecting your children. If you meet a fan who has one of your kids' names tattooed to her arm, you're probably not doing a very good job.

So how did M & C see it if they don't have Instagram accounts?
Have any of you read the book Death Trap by M. William Phelps? This book is almost identical to how Kate has gotten away with everything she has as far as the custody issues go. It is stunning how the person who ended up murdering her ex husband to keep him from having any contact with his kids and the courts just allowing her behavior to continue. In this case, the ex husband was a really good guy who just wanted to spend time with his girls. He wasn't interested in having full custody because he felt the girls needed their mother. However, the wife was so psychotic that she disobeyed court orders over and over again, blatantly and the courts threatened but with continuances she managed to keep the kids away from him. And this woman had no money like Kate. So, in light of the discussion recently about custody, you should read this book if you are at all interested in true crime. I started last night and haven't been able to put it down. It's that good. A real eye opener about how the courts behave in custody battles.

You're welcome. Let me know how it turns out!
When we were kids and my grandmother was making chicken potpie (not the traditional Marie Callender kind with the crust on top), but the PA Dutch potpie (bott boi) which involves rolling out the dough, and cutting it into small squares, my sister and I would stand there and swipe the little pieces of dough. We loved to eat it uncooked, right after she cut it. With raw egg in those things, it's a wonder neither of us ever got sick, but we sure loved that dough!
I'm making pig stomach this weekend, but I'm sure you don't want the recipe for that!

IIRC, didn't TFW say that she lost all of her trees that lined the driveway 2 winters ago?
That is a whopper because her trees are still lining the driveway.
Funny, she values the privacy that the now "blown down" trees gave her but she couldn't wait for the landscaping episode to rip up the kids favorite private, secret hiding place that they treasured.
She reminds me of the Amazon forest poachers. Mean as snakes.
OT- I watched Alpha House (Amazon) and am so bummed it only had 2 seasons. Betas is sort of like Silicon Valley and was also good, although not as good as SV.
Brit TV, "Vexed" is terrific. Reminds me of Remington Steel.
Of course federal employees can be good on juries. I just think juries are better if they're diverse. A federal emploee, an engineer, a WalMart worker, etc. I don't think we achieve that for a lot of trials. I do understand about picking juries and how lawyers go for certain people depending on the case.
I really wish I could express myself clearly. I seem to fail most of the time. Damn brain injury.

I love stuffed beef heart but don't make it very often. I have my grandmother's recipe somewhere. If I find it, I'll post it. It's really easy to make.
Redbird -- the storm where Kate lost all of her trees was our Halloween storm in 2011. She had one tree that was damaged. All the rest were intact, although they probably needed some pruning. I remember thinking at the time -- how can you tell a fib like that when there are locals who know the truth?
I continue to be dumbfounded by the hypocrisy of the fans. There's one on Kate's timeline who calls the non-fans hateful and tells them to shut up:

I can't figure out if this is a total lack of self-awareness, or just plain stupidity, or both.
Then again, I know that Kate has some developmentally-challenged fans, like Macey, and many of them should just be left alone.
I wonder whatever happened to Big Fan from central PA. She was probably one of the oddest of the flock. She just kept creating new names and then disappearing. She's the one who tweeted Kate and asked her if it was safe to get out of her car in a parking lot during a storm. There have been some 'doozies' on there!
Thanks again, PA. Stuffed heart sounds good. I've read that beef heart is quite a tender cut if properly prepared. You need to write a cookbook of PA Dutch recipes. Maybe you could go on tour and head up to Canada? Get on tv shows, the whole ball of wax.
Yes, Kate lies like a rug. The baffling part is she sat on that couch in that last 'Kate Plus' episode and acted appalled that her two-year-olds had lied about the knob. Two things bothered her -- property damage and the lies about who took the knob off'. Lies, provable lies, fall out of her mouth every time she opens it and SHE'S upset about something as ridiculous as a knob? The woman is insanely hypocritical.
I wonder how many knobgate type of interrogations went on in that house when they were just toddlers. A lot more than we'll ever know, I'll bet. No wonder those little boys looked panic-stricken.
AuntieAnn (#177), I haven't watched that clip in years, but I can still hear TFW's interrogation about the knob. I think one of the kids said that nobody did it, and she snarled, "Well, SOMEBODY did it, because I'm HOLDING it!" Wow, good point, TFW! You outsmarted toddlers! You win!
And all these years later, whether it's gagaball or yoga or depriving a man of his legal right to see his children, she still needs to win. She's an awful mother, and a horrible role model.
I'm shicked all the time and I can't seem to find a way out! ;)

I think that you mean schnockered but hey, shicked works, too!
When i saw "schicked", I thought it was a PA Dutch or Yiddish word. I looke it up on urban dictionary, and none of the meanings fit. Eventually I realized that it was just a very amusing typo involving two adjacent letters on the keyboard.

Admin said... Absolutely it's fair to say. No one said otherwise. What was alleged was that the jury decided the case before weighing the evidence. That is juror misconduct. Of that there is absolutely no evidence. ------- Right--so we agree on that. I didn't say that you said otherwise. I was just suggesting that the term bias was a more accurate way to describe the jury than what the other poster said. As in, they did not decide ahead of time that he was innocent, but there may have been unconscious bias.

------------------------ Much like "globe gate," when one of the girl tups blamed one of the boys for pulling something off the globe. The girl tup later confessed, but her name was not mentioned, but the boy tup sure was named as the perpetrator.
Double standard much Kate?? I honestly believe the boy tups are treated much like Jon. Males are there to follow her every command and treated differently than the girls. What a life they live!
Remember "Hannah pooped in Hannah's underwear." TFW was calm and felt terrible for Hannah. Yet Aaden had an accident on the floor and she went ballistic.
Knobgate was probably an entirely manufactured catastrophe. Even if it wasn't, she went ridiculously overboard. I'd only get upset if the knob disappeared. So much of what was filmed was set up. Remember that. Nobody would be interested in home movies, right?
YouReapWhatYouSow (#185), and remember why the little boy was accused? Because they all decided he looked guilty! Meanwhile the girl who finally admitted it was hugged and praised - and still got to keep her anonymity.
I've said it before - as adults, at least these kids get to walk into a therapist's office armed with written and filmed evidence of their mother's mental illness. They won't be accused of exaggerating their dismal upbringing.
It was bizarre that Kate thought Globegate was blog worthy. Did she think she looked like a good parent with this McCarthyism? I think she sounded nuts making a federal case out of a fricking taped-in globe equator. I mean, who practically waterboards their kids over something so trivial?
My older dd was a huge j&k+8 fan the first few years, when she was 18, 19, around then. Now dd is married, has toddler of her own, busy, and thinks tfmjg if a "fame whore". A lot of dd friends also were fans and also have moved on with their own lives and have no interest in anything with tfmjg. Another friend was fanatical fan who got disillusioned when Aunt Jodi disappeared and the divorce was the end of her watching. Me, I always thought watching other people's little kids was boring. Could not understand in the least why people would be interested in watching a bunch of little kids, that just multiplied the boredom factor. I will go watch real children I am actually related to, or who are neighbors I have watched grow up, who have real personalities and real talent. The relatives who are little cheerleaders, or dancers, or basketball or softball players, or singers, or swimmers, or actors in school and church plays, or so much more! I wonder if the folks who are still big fans don't have any real life connections to compare the staged reality with.
Tucker's Mom (#189), oh, yeah, TFW thought that story made her sound like Ma Walton and Ma Ingalls rolled into one. Authoritative but fair. Addressing issues head on. And ultimately showing mercy to the poor child who erred. She's a legend in her own mind.
"I've said it before - as adults, at least these kids get to walk into a therapist's office armed with written and filmed evidence of their mother's mental illness. They won't be accused of exaggerating their dismal upbringing."

I totally agree with this. It won't make up for the pain of their childhood but at least it will help the healing process when they're older.
There will be no need for any of those kids to doubt or question what they experienced. It's all on film and in writing, their mother's own words no less.
There will be no need for any of those kids to doubt or question what they experienced. It's all on film and in writing, their mother's own words no less. ***** How about the books that give testament to how hard their mother had it, and how each of those kids is imbued with some sort of difficulty or shortcoming. But she loves them anyway. Eeeeesh.
And all these years later, whether it's gagaball or yoga or depriving a man of his legal right to see his children, she still needs to win.
====
Yep. She bullies everyone into giving in to her. Everyone. Even that idiot Steve backed down and hung his head when she slammed the door in his face on the RV trip. No one escapes the wrath of Kate. It doesn't matter if it's through lies or screaming or the business end of a wooden spoon, she's got to have it her way.
Then she sat on that interview couch and watched her deranged self go off on her kids and still justified almost everything with her "as all parents know...' canon. If she thinks everyone sees parenting the way she does, it proves even further how alienated she is from reality.
@Tucker's mom I said this before but i will be honest and say that i don't see any of those kids writing books thanking her for everything and write badly of everyone that got kicked including jon.It wouldn't really make sense.Everyone who got kicked.Jodi,kevin,kendra,ashley,beth,and i don't believe that she talks to her other siblings.Would mean they're all liars and somehow Kate was the victim in all this?Yeah i just don't see it

«Oldest ‹Older 801 – 1000 of 1515 Newer› Newest»This is what TFW said on a Ugly Moments video about Christmas presents.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What a greedy leech! Why not tell them to take them to their local Salvation Army/Toys For Tots/local charity toy drives? They were sitting on a big pile of money at that time. On the video as TFW was doing the voiceover, she was handing out the presents. She would get a medium box present and walk just a couple of feet from the tree and then toss it like an idiot to each child.
What in the world is wrong with that nut?
One thing that she missed out on was getting a patent on her hairstyle to be made into a wig, called the Kate Gosselin. She could of licensed it and made money for perpetuity.
But she locked in perpetuity filming the heck out of those kids.
Redbird (#183), I agree that TFW's vomit laundry story is a little hard to swallow. She's so hung
up on the number 8, that that's the number of hours she claimed to be washing sheets!
And in her martyrdom, she showed her skewed priorities. She had 8 sick little ones, and decided her time was best spent doing laundry?
Wouldn't a caring mom want to be with them and comfort them while they were feeling miserable?
And she proved her lack of the nurturing gene when we saw her stick poor little J on the laundry room floor, admittedly because she was tired of changing the bedding. Although, according to the fans, it was because feverish, vomiting children love being on hard, cold floors away from their mommies, comforted by the gentle murmur of churning appliances.
TLC stinks (#200), wow, that Golden Uterus piece describes TFW to a tee! Uncanny! Remember when she said something about Jon like, I don't see why he gets to have a say in the kids' lives. It was almost as if he didn't exist. Does anyone have the exact quote? Or am I just making stuff up to make TFW look bad, as is rumored to be our hobby over here at 15 Minutes?
Flimsy, I remember Kate saying that. Was it when he was in the Kate Major mess? LOL about our "hobby"!
Flimsy, I know. Uncanny! I will now refer to Kate as the Golden Uterus or GU.
If we did not have our hobby, they (the five of them) would have no hobby. Are they the Copy Hobby?
BTW, here's an article about divorced men recovering from abusive ex-wives. I love the term "Golden Uterus". Kate is a GU.
http://shrink4men.com/2011/05/17/does-your-wife-or-ex-wife-have-a-golden-uterus-complex-15-characteristics-of-the-golden-uterus/
Some highlights:
******
Whoa, spooky!
the GU believes to her core that the father is nothing more than a sperm donor who has no rights, say or importance in HER childrens' lives.
I think Kate prides herself on her children not wanting to see Jon.
#winning
GUs wield guilt over their children with staggering virtuosity. “I am your mother. I carried you for 9 months. No one will ever love you like I do. No one will ever break our bond. No one will ever come between us. I CARRIED you in my WOMB for NINE months. YOU can NEVER do that for me.”
*****
OMG, this is literally what Kate says to the tups every birthday.
And it amazed us how well they knew them. HOW WELL THEY KNEW THEM and what they were into.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Little Family mother is awful.
I'd forgotten about the Michael Heller debacle.

Nope, Kate said something to the effect of "I don't understand why someone who sees my kids 4 days a month gets to tell me how to raise them".
Mel, ITA. Retaining Heller was a huge mistake. The NY Times article was interesting. TLC must have popped open the champagne with that decision.

I agree- Jon's playboy, jet setter antics were awful. He didn't help himself on bit there.
But, I don't see how this affects the current state of affairs.
Just sad, if it's true.
http://www.crazydaysandnights.net/2016/02/josh-duggar-returning-to-reality-television.html
Anna is going to be on the show too and a couple of her visits to rehab to visit Josh were recorded.
when Josh Duggar gets out of rehab later this month, TLC cameras will be there.
Turtle (AKA Amy2) (#18), thank you for your thoughtful comment. I agree -- the long-term
negative effects of the G8's celebrity remain to be seen. And yes, they can't fall back on that
"I was just playing a part" excuse that other TV and film child actors can use.
It's the same ploy TLC has been pulling all along. I hope there is major blowback.
Yes, agree. It doesn't affect the current state of things.

I always thought that taking turns at the compound was a really terrible idea. However, it seems once Kate got Jon off the property, things went downhill for Jon.
I don't know why Kate is allowed to keep them there when it's Jon's visitation.
A kid is sick? Sure, I get that. But kids getting to refuse willy nilly?
I wont be surprised at all if TLC films Josh and Anna. That franchise is far from done.
Why is it that the fans willingly accept the rumors that Jill and jessa of running a fraudulent ministry but deny that Kate screwed over churchs?

TLC stinks,
Great article on Golden Uteri.

I can't wrap my head around why Jon isn't getting visitation from some of his kids.
PA dutch mom, 190...
Parental alienation case 5 years.
Judge's opinion.
http://youtu.be/LB9IBcCLGKs
I agree very strongly with Admin, Jon is not going to have an officer drag the child out of the home kicking and screaming.
I would add, that with difficulty at school, Jon doesn't want to create more drama for his son, but wants very much to see him.
Parents who are the target of parental alienation must behave very carefully, they are continuously vilified by the other parent.
These situations can go on for years once the damage is done.

Didn't he cheat on his wife quite recently? Don't a lot of people think that was worse than sexually abusing his sisters? Otherwise, I think you're right. Unfortunately for him, he doesn't have the best card: "I found Jesus and my life was instantly transformed". It's the card Kim Davis uses to explain her multiple marriage hypocrisy. And the one many prisoners use when applying for parole.
Maybe if parental alienation weren't used constantly by lawyers trying to excuse their clients' behavior,

I have never seen parental alienation used constantly nor have I seen it used to excuse behavior, so I really can't relate to that sentiment. Usually it's actually the social worker or judge who first suggests it. They have no motive.

Who is paying for Josh Duggar's attorney????
From Radar:

Ouch. This isn't good.

OJ paid for his dream team, and facts were facts, evidence was evidence, but something certainly smelled in that trial and he was acquitted. I'm watching "The People vs. OJ Simpson" right now.

Oh, My.

&&&

John Travolta as Robert Shapiro just isn't working for me and it looks as if Deanna did his makeup, as well as that of Marcia Clark.

lol! Shapiro's jowls are too thick! I keep looking for Marcia's mole on her upper lip but I can't find it! Kato is looking like he's either on something, or special needs. The guy, not the dog.
Whatever happened to old Lance after his 15 minutes?
Tom Lang was on a Lizzie Borden documentary several years ago, working on forensics at her home in Fall River. It was quite interesting.
I'm recording the O.J. series but not sure if I'm going to watch it. The whole thing turned my stomach back then.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
The Golden Uterus' birthday is March 28. I predict a vacay getaway with a night on the prowl with matchmaker Deanna. This is getting too easy, LOL.
KIAT (#71), I'm still convinced Josh will be back in the media after his rehab stint. Can't you just picture the People Magazine cover with him grinning innocently, Anna gazing up at him, and some cornball quote like, "I'm A Changed Man?"
Then a book, a redemption tour (complete with
love offerings), then maybe their own spin-off series?
Remember, the world seemed more appalled at Josh's cheating admission than his owning up to molesting his younger sisters. His family certainly seemed to be. So if he can convince people he's truly sorry about the cheating, and has been "cured,"
I don't see why this dog-and-pony show won't continue.

I wonder if they're saving Vann for
a TFW birthday episode? Maybe a deep-sea fishing trip, where she could say she realized she was wrong taking her kids if they got sick, so she decided to go without them? But since she's such a demure single mom, it couldn't be an overnight trip -- they'd have to fly somewhere for the day.
Just speculatin'!

I don't know.

A coup de grace for Kate, her PR team, People magazine and TLC.

The atmosphere in L.A. was ripe for letting O.J. get off with murder.
Anyone read Clark's novels?
To Redbird (#2): Ha ha! But the problem is, you are SMART, and Khate is too STUPID to think ahead like that!
What's good though is that apparently identical polls taken recently show a much different environment in LA, with most people now accepting OJ is guilty and it wasn't a racial issue at all.
I thought David Schwimmer was quite good as Robert Kardashian, a best friend slowly realizing all is not what he thought.
Tucker's Mom @81 - Agreed - the verdict "was a low point in the history of humanity".

Yep. Racial tension was high back in those days especially after the Rodney King debacle. I lived there at the time. Things were ugly.
So eerie.

********************
In family law evidence there is no fruit of the poisonous tree or other defenses against evidence, and it is much easier to introduce exhibits.

Thank you for weighing in with your legal expertise.

The trial was not racial? It was nothing but.
The trial was not racial? It was nothing but
&&&
Of course it was. No one said otherwise. What was said is that today, in 2016, an overwhelming majority of Los Angelans believe OJ is guilty because he's guilty, not because he was black as residents polled said in 1995. I believe that is accurate.
JM said... 101
Yes, things to consider. Points well taken.
&&&&

We really don't know what Jon's personal circumstances are. He may very well be able to have all the kids overnight.

Currrently, who knows. I guess I was thinking about quite a while back when it was said that some of the kids were sleeping on the floor. I wasn't clear.

Well said and I agree-makes total sense.
The all-around squandering is beyond sad to me.

Yes and yes.

A coup de grace for Kate, her PR team, People magazine and TLC. It firmly established Kate as the victim, left by a no-good, cheating husband to raise 8 kids on her own.
It was truly brilliant.
Kudos to them all (in a sardonic, slow golf-clap kind of way).

I agree that he's probably not being entirely honest about this stuff. Neither is TFW. They're just dishonest in different ways, IMO.
&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

Swimgirl (#122), if that branding guy tried to talk to TFW, all she'd hear was "blah blah blah"
anyway. Unless the advice comes with a giftcard, she ain't interested!
And therefore, they were open to the potential argument that the police might in fact plant evidence or lie against someone accused of a serious crime."
&&&&&

That's an old interview which was done on 1/19. The guy interviewing her mentions that the episode "School's Out" will be airing on TLC at 9pm. Kate then corrects him and says that the show airing that night will be her blind date and it's on at 10pm.
Here's a link to the original broadcast of the interview:

So it's just a repeat of an interview that Kate did 2 weeks ago--nothing new.

I've always wanted to be called for jury duty and never have been. I pulled summons out of my mailbox the other day and was so excited for a second until I realized it was addressed to my daughter who has been registered to vote for less than a year!!! She really wants to do it but she would have to miss college classes, many of which count participation towards their grade...is being in college considered a hardship (she goes to school in the town the court is in)
In other news, Bill Cosby lost his motion to dismiss in the PA criminal case and his trial will go forward.

Good. At least the PA courts are doing something right.
I was called for jury duty at the same time I had orders to be in Washington, DC. That was hard to get off jury duty, but finally the State decided that Federal superseded State and I got off jury duty. I had to have my supervisor write a letter and provide them with a copy of the orders. They were not pleased.

From Vincent Bugliosi:
"This "in the air" phenomenon couldn't help but contribute, in some way, to the eventual not-guilty verdict."
The "in the air" phenomenon he's talking about is the resounding support OJ had before the trial: the 350,000 letters of support, sportscaster's support, thousands calling in on radio talk shows asserting his innocence.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/style/longterm/books/chap1/outrage.htm
For this, too, he was criticized."
http://www.nytimes.com/1995/06/02/us/in-the-trial-of-his-lifetime-ito-finds-himself-in-the-dock.html?pagewanted=all
I was there, I lived it, didn't read about it after the fact. The jury was not going to send OJ to prison.
He gave a particularly long leash to the defense lawyers in their cross-examinations,
&&&&
&&&&
Yeah, so, I lived it all too in real time. I'm not reading about it later like it's the Civil War or something. Not that I think someone cannot have a valid opinion who didn't experience it. Of course they can.
I was there, I lived it, didn't read about it after the fact. The jury was not going to send OJ to prison.
****************
Well, he's sittin' there now, until next year when he is up for parole.

OT for AuntieAnn...
Ingredients
3 pounds smoked ham with bone
4 cups dried tart apples
3 tablespoons brown sugar
1 large onion, finely chopped
Cinnamon to taste (optional)
2 medium potatoes, cut into 1/2-inch cubes (optional)
Dumplings (Knepp)
2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
4 teaspoons baking powder
3 tablespoons butter (I use unsalted)
1 large egg, beaten
1/2 to 2/3 cup milk
&&&&&&&&&
We eat it with a side of lettuce (just iceberg lettuce, not a salad) with hot bacon dressing. In the spring, we use dandelion instead of lettuce.
"You Pennsylvania Dutch sure know how to cook!"
&&&&&&&
&&&&&&&&&&&&&&
&&&&
&&&&
That's just stupid.

My workplace was the same.

====
Kit Kat

Thanks for the recommendation, Kylie. I keep a running list of books to read and have added this one!

AuntieAnn (#177), I haven't watched that clip in years, but I can still hear TFW's interrogation
about the knob.
She's
an awful mother, and a horrible role model.

When i saw "schicked", I thought it was a PA Dutch or Yiddish word. I looke it up on urban dictionary, and none of the meanings fit. Eventually I realized that it was just a very amusing typo involving two adjacent letters on the keyboard.

Right--so we agree on that. I didn't say that you said otherwise. I was just suggesting that the term bias was a more accurate way to describe the jury than what the other poster said. As in, they did not decide ahead of time that he was innocent, but there may have been unconscious bias.

Much like "globe gate," when one of the girl tups blamed one of the boys for pulling something off the globe.

I totally agree with this. It won't make up for the pain of their childhood but at least it will help the healing process when they're older.
There will be no need for any of those kids to doubt or question what they experienced. It's all on film and in writing, their mother's own words no less.

It seems like the majority of Kate's adoring, admiring fans (not sheep who defend her at all costs) are young girls who are taken with Kate's Barbie-esque appearance, wealth and charges. Fortunately, most will grow up and move on when they mature and realize their mentality, unlike Kate's, is commensurate with their age.
