A reality star's daughter breaks her silence: I was 'exploited, 'powerless without a voice'

One reality T.V. kid steps into adulthood, and introspection: 'Excess debris created by a produced, manipulated, pseudo-reality universe.'

Says Real Housewives daughter Christie Staub in this chilling account (and big foreshadowing):
  • My mother's storyline was edited and produced, placing her in scenarios to achieve a desired outcome. She wouldn't normally be involved in these scenarios; they were dictated by the producers, and they just told my mom where to show up for filming. In season one, my mother didn't expect this to happen. These were the early days of reality shows. In 2006, The Hills was in its first season, and the Real Housewives franchise had yet to become a household name. Today, reality stars are savvy, but a decade ago, talent lacked a frame of reference. Other than Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, my mother had never seen a reality show. Just be myself, she thought. Little did she know that myself is how the producers choose to present you. Every story arc needs an antagonist and a protagonist—that is what creates the conflict and resolution, i.e. the drama.

  • Imagine if all of the arguments you've had in your life were filmed by a stranger, and they took out the worst things you said, edited it together, and then presented the footage on TV to define your character. Would you say that characterization was accurate? Anything that is produced, and edited in this manner, is fictitious by default, but unlike an actor, my mother didn't have the advantage of hiding behind a character, not to mention that the reality forms a perception that is impossible to overcome when the viewers aren't aware of what goes down behind the scenes. The producers had the power to manipulate my mother in anyway they pleased to increase ratings. When the second season ended, my mother decided to leave the show. The network portrayed her decision as her getting fired, but she left to save her life and her kids.

  • Even now, all these years later, people see me as a character created by a producer. They see me as the daughter of an infamous reality show prostitution whore. They may not have called me garbage like they called my mother, but that's how they made me feel. They took away my name and my voice. My name is Christine Staub, and I will no longer be the excess debris created by a produced, manipulated, pseudo-reality universe. I will never again be a character defined by unethical producers, and exploited by networks all over the world. I am no longer a child, powerless without a voice.

The boys will have Legos in their Easter baskets and the girls will have Polly Pockets. In TFW's eyes they are not individuals with individual likes and dislikes. You get what you get and don't get upset! Meanwhile, the twins will get whatever they want because they've found TFW's currency and use it against her.

Wow. Update on the 97 year old lady and her roommate getting evicted. The husband who is evicting them was divorced and the granddaughter had a boyfriend and he killed her! Then the husband inherited the estate. He has also evicted their neighbor and she has moved out but is close by.

The law firm doing the pro-bono work sounds like they are
ROCK STARS!

Admin, if the estate requires the man to sell the house by the end of the year and he doesn't, what happens then? Does the state get it? Couldn't the man have compassion, sell it to her for 1 dollar and she sign a contract that he can buy it back for 1 dollar at her death and he would own it free and clear. The money in the GoFundMe could play for her funeral and the rest go to the lady who is the roommate.

Are the twins allowed to date yet? Or is tfw going to make them wait until they are 18 or older? Will their dates need to sign her no-telling-what-really-goes-on contracts first? Will rat-claws have to track their every move? This should be fun.

Things have become a wee bit testy around here lately. :(

I laughed at the Hummer- driving nerd on Better Call Saul the last couple of episodes. What an idiot. I'm really enjoying the show, after thinking initially that lt would be a let down after Breaking Bad.

I'll be sorry to see the end of Downton. I got a little tired of it last season, but found it more interesting lately.

@theadrids @Kateplusmy8 There you go, Kate - 2-10 yr-olds play with them. Tell you anything? Time to show concern for your kids, Kate!!!

That's not true at all. Age 2 is too young for these toys. The play pieces are too small for them to handle, and at that age, kids are still putting things into their mouths. They could choke on them.

Why do these people make up this stuff?

I just saw the Duggar commercial and my goodness!! Jessa has such an ego and none of them are really recognizable. About 23 years ago, my kids who were 10 and under and their dad went to visit his dad and family in Minnesota. We left home July the 4th and the heat stress was 110. Got 3 hours from the Canadian boarder and it was perfect! From Monday till Friday when we left it was like FALL, no humidity and 65-70 during the day with a cool breeze.

My ex's dad had married a woman who was only a day younger than my husband and had 2 kids with her. She was so hateful! Never cooked anything while we were there for the week. I got up and cooked breakfast like I did for my sons and feed her boys too. They were so excited. My FinL, who has since died, loved it. I could tell they were not use to be waited on and fed like that!

But I remember using the incredible cast iron skillet she had. It was decades old and seasoned where nothing, I mean nothing would stick to it. I would of given her a 100 dollars for it if she would of sold it to me. But I didn't have 100 dollars! haha. It was incredible.

I did all the cooking and cleaned up. I am glad she stayed gone most of the time.

I've bought 2 pieces of cast iron from Ebay, and while they were seasoned as advertised, I managed to ruin the patina (even knowing all the no-no's).

One of my cast iron skillets is at least a 150 years old. It's been handed down through the years, with siblings fighting over it, but I got it. I looked it up once on eBay and other sites, and that particular brand was going for $200 and up. Who would have thought it? It's so non-stick that you have to fight to keep things in the pan, and it makes the best raw-fried potatoes with onions!

I bought a Lodge cast iron skillet specifically for making cornbread. I think I used it twice before my friend nearly drooled over it. She had to live with (gasp!) REVEREWARE!!/ Since I only make cornbread about once a year, the next time she came over I gave it to her for fixing breakfast for her family. Last I heard she is still using it, and it's been 30+ years. All I can say is it makes THE best cornbread and yes, seasoning pre-seasoned ones is a great idea.

My sister-in-law has one large skillet specifically for fried chicken, one for bacon/sausage/eggs/potatoes type foods, one for pancakes/cornbread type foods and three for whatever else she needs. She inherited them all from assorted grandmothers and aunts. Her white stove top is awash with cast iron circles on Big Extended Family Breakfast Days. She would probably refuse to cook without her cast iron.

One year at school the teacher took up 5 dollars per child, mid-nineties, and I was chosen to get the toys for the kids. I bought all the boys the same as well as the girls. I bought the boys a little car with a ramp and you wound it up and it would jump. They went nuts. I can't remember what I got the girls.

One year my oldest son turned in his 5 dollars and got a box of Old Fashioned Chalk Candy Canes. The other boys got nice toys. He was so hurt. I told him not to worry that I would get him something nice. Trip to the store got him a nice Ninja Turtle figure and then I had to buy 2 more because of his brothers.

The next year the kids were told, No food as presents.

She's still on TV because she's filler and she'll do whatever TLC tells her to do. Where most mothers would be horrified at the way TLC is portraying Mady TFW has her amp it up. While she may be getting trips and home improvements I'd wager that she's not getting the salary she used to get nor is she making the rounds of the talk shows. The most she gets now is a call in radio interview. And all of those home improvements? She's going to price the house right out of the market. Yup, someday she can sit on the deckster with a glass of wine in her hand listening to her whole house sound system playing "those were the days my friend we thought they'd never end..." as she wonders why she's alone. What's that? She doesn't have a whole house sound system? You can bet it's on the list along with the whole house intercom system. All for the health and welfare of the children of course.

Yep more parentification. The children should not feel burdened with having to nurse her back to health. Their Sunday should be spent concerned with things like friends, homework, sports, play and other age appropriate things. It's clear she depends on them extensively for her emotional and even physical health, and it's completely inappropriate and surely unhealthy for them. She could woman up and take care of herself when she's sick like other single parents have to do or even those without kids. Life goes on for other people even if you're sick and an unselfish adult doesn't burden others with something as minor as the flu.

I always said their so-called vacations are not really vacations where they can relax, and all those fun things the kids do, which the sheeple love to comment on, are squeezed into a production schedule. I believe the only memories those kids have are what they see on their show. In fact, those kids have been to so MANY places that if not for the shows, they would have no distinct memories of anything.

As far as the kids taking care of Kate, I doubt it. The nanny must be there this weekend and Kate is locked up in her room. She can't be quarantined and have the kids taking care of her. Once again Kate is caught in a LIE. When I think of how many times I was sick but still managed to take care of my home and my family without whining....

I agree.

A regular here had made the comment, which I didn't let through in the interest of trying to move us along, that while they felt Sue was out of line, I don't take criticism well.

I'm not going to debate that point, but that comment misses the greater point. The point is this blog is designed as a friendly, welcoming community. The point is there shouldn't be personal attacks, gotch-ya's, or picking at posters here at all. It is irrelevant how someone handles such attacks (and if you saw the incredible number of unpublished inappropriate comments from Sue, you would see I've actually been extraordinarily patient with her, 99% of the time simply ignoring her taunts). The point is those attacks should not be occurring.

Virtually every big successful blog or forum strictly forbids personal attacks, and for good reason. An online forum doesn't work when posters fear a personal attack if they post here. People will stop posting.

You may think it's kind of ironic we are so very critical of Kate and other public folks, but that's different. Those people don't post here, are not a member of the community, and we don't risk making anyone here feel threatened when we discuss those topics.. It does not make anyone feel unwelcome to post here if they see criticism of public figures. They're not public figures. But what DOES shy people away is if they think they are next on the chopping block.

Successful blogs have some rules for a reason. This blog has worked for many years for a reason. I don't believe this environment happens by accident. I believe you have to actively create it. And that is why I finally put my foot down with Sue.

Thank you to everyone else here who has fostered a welcoming environment and never has engaged in such behavior. It is much appreciated. You are only as good as your posters.

Once again Kate is caught in a LIE. When I think of how many times I was sick but still managed to take care of my home and my family without whining....

&&&&&&&&&&&

Of course. It's what we do. We keep going, no matter how sick we are. I can remember having everyone down at one time, including my husband. He couldn't help because, well, when men get sick, they are more needy than the kids. I just made the rounds from room to room, cleaning up, stripping the beds, until I didn't have any clean sheets left. I was as sick as a dog, but hey, no nannies to help me, no quarantine, and looking back on it, I'm still not sure how we all got through those days. It's not something I want to do again, but the flu here right now is prevalent, so I'm expecting it.

Kate is such a wuss.

Admin, good post (74). Has it been determined that "Sue" is really Sue Buddy? It just doesn't sound like her. It sounded more like the Kaya poster.

If I am ever out of line in a post, just call me on it. More than likely it's due to the rumspringa talking!

NOIP (#76), here are some precious memories of how kindly Florence Nightingale tended her sons when they were suffering:

J - feverish and vomiting, he was placed on the laundry room floor
A - his feet hurt walking a long distance in new cowboy boots, and he was told to "man up"
C - bonked his head getting off a plane, and was told "sometimes God builds in punishmments"
C (again) - writhing in pain from constipation,
he was passed over to his dad so she could continue the urgent matter of thumbing through
a bed catalogue.

The state of PA should be grateful that she's abandoned her nursing career.

PA Dutch Mom said...

&&&&&&&&

Maybe the kids should tell her to "woman up" and that the reason she was stricken with the flu is because God is building in punishments. She had to take off those hooker heels in NYC because her feet hurt. Too bad she wasn't forced to walk around in them until she got blisters.

She should be given a dose of her own medicine!

The end of DA is very satisfying. The Awards are still going on and on and on.

I badly wanted Spotlight to win best picture last night because I felt it was hands down the superior film of them all on all levels--and it did!

Not only did the best film win, but a film won that was about courageous journalists hellbent on exposing massive abuses of children.

In the history of the Oscars, no film that specifically involves trying to put a stop to the exploitation of children has ever won. A historic moment.

Spotlight was superb, and so very disturbing. It's important to see the unvarnished truth and not bury one's head in the sand.
On a lighter note, I thought the fashions were terrific!

Cara- TFW left her injured ankle to the last possible moment to get an Xray and asked the nanny to take her to the dr?

Leah- had a gash of unknown origin on her head and didn't take her to get stitched

Hannah- did not get migraine treatment for her- Tylenol and then wait for her to throw up? Made her go to a loud bright mall to choose suitcases?

Alexis- made her sleep in the basement?
Mady- ignored her constant stomachaches; let her tooth go black in her mouth before seeking dental treatment?

So TFW sucks as a mother and a nurse. To boys and girls alike.

When Stacey Dash came out it was like, huh? Awkward pity chuckles.

What I found interesting is I didn't hear any outrage over the lack of Asian, Hispanic, Indian and Native-American nominees. Instead we got a pretty offensive joke about smart Asian kids, and an equally offensive token cut to the two Native Americans from Revenant who got invited and got seats somewhere near the back of the room. It really felt like a forest through the trees thing.

Additional comments about Spotlight: All in all it is a homage to the extraordinary journalism that exposed decades of abuse in the church and caused a watershed moment where it suddenly became okay to finally call out all the sick people who have preyed on little children and bring those victims some justice. The sports and entertainment world would be next (see Penn State). This film also makes the case as to why real journalism is still important, and that while social media has been an incredible way to allow everyone to participate in making and breaking news, we still need the skills and dedication of long-term, full-time investigative reporters. It is dangerous the way those people have been scaled back in the media. We desperately need them to help us get to the truth in this world. So I was hoping for an upset in the masterpiece Spotlight. It deserved it.

It will be the apocalypse if Trump is elected, or Bernie or Hillary!!!

No, no it won't. We'll just keep on trucking as we are because fortunately all those people are going to be subjected to our great checks and balances system called democracy.

Now they're saying Trump quoted Mussolini. Well right, because someone has been constantly tweeting him Mussolini quotes WITHOUT attributing them to Mussolini, trying to get him to bite.
And the quote was about how we shouldn't be sheep! LOL. Does anyone actually disagree with that quote, regardless of who said it?

Yeah, didn't think so.

Trump is running away with the nomination and people are getting desperate to try to trip him up. Reminds me of the gotch-ya games Kate's fans play when they got nothing. I'm standing by to see if Kate does the polite thing and congratulates him when he gets the nomination. She doesn't need to take sides, but the polite thing to do for someone who stuck their neck out for you and gave you a coveted role in the reality TV world is to at least congratulate them. Does she even know this is happening?

Such a great example of co-parenting and not traumatizing children with adult acrimony like Kate's been doing for years.

For someone as cunning as her I"m surprised she hasn't caught on now that sucking up to him at present might ensure a White House invite at some point in the future. She'll realize it a day late and a dollar short.

Trump has been very kind to former contestants who have come out in support of him. He is very clear how much he appreciates it. I wouldn't be at all surprised if over the next 4 years some contestants get some fun invites if he takes the White House. Opportunity blown.

Sly was restrained but heartbreaking in his role in Creed. I loved it.

Bridge of Spies was great too, completely different movie.

Most of the acting categories this year had at least two or three people who easily could have won fair and square. It's hard to buy the argument this or that person got snubbed because of this or that, because quite honestly, a dozen people more should have taken home the statue. What a great year in film.

The only true snubbing of an African American was Beasts of No Nation. There is no dispute about that snubbing. I don't know the reasons **why**, lots of white people get snubbed every year. We will never know.

Will Smith didn't get a nod because his performance was just good, not great. His movie didn't get a nod because it was just good, not great. He is a good actor, not great.

Sometimes things just are what they are. You better be sure you really were the best before you pull the race card.

Not everyone does. Not most. But historically Kate does. What's more Trump has done a lot for her when SHE was not liked.

I don't believe for a second she actually has a clue or even cares how she feels about his positions on the issues. Which are pretty moderate across the board actually, issue by issue. Some of the stuff he's ranted about re: 9-11 and the Iraq war are downright liberal.

What I'm getting at is I think kate wants to give him a high five but is too much a scaredy cat. She's afraid if she says a peep she might actually be called upon to discuss issues and policies her iq can't handle. That's what this is about--deep down she's an insecure coward who can't hack it off script.

Kate Gosselin ‏@Kateplusmy8 · Jan 26
I am SO SO thankful everyday from the bottom of my ❤️ to @TLC & viewers 4 10 yrs,so far... Of memories,a way2provide&life lessons #KatePlus8

Then a couple of hours later she tweets about looking for Polly Pockets sets. So after explaining how "busy" they've been, she now asks her tweeties a "favor". Basically saying, "I know I've been ignoring you, but we've been busy, busy... But now I have a favor to ask".

Then all of a sudden, two days later, she's down with the "flu".

So, IMO, she let her tweeties know she's still around. Then she gave her tweeties a "project" re Polly Pocket. Then she claims to be "sick with the flu", so she can have another excuse to ignore her tweeties.

To boil it down:

1. Hi, I'm here--did you miss me?

2. I need your help, and I KNOW you WILL help.

3. Mission accomplished. BTW, I'm sick, so I won't be tweeting for awhile.

And her tweeties believe that she cares about them.

Have I got that right?

Ha yes Crazy. At the end of the day this is a problems of the 1% thing and often has come off as rather trite this past month. There is nothing stopping minorities from making and staring in great films. Go for it. Women have broken into it with directing and production after being excluded for a very long time, roll up your sleeves and make it happen. Great article with Reese Witherspoon and some other women who now work in production about how they saw something very missing in that industry so instead of continuning to whine about it they decided to change it. In EW a few weeks ago.

I also thought his lynch mob joke was right on point though it ruffled some pearl clutchers. His point was your grandmother had to worry about racism to such an extent she feared her life, there was no time to worry whether there weren't any black guys in the supporting actor category.

I don't think he said that to say that these concerns should not be raised. But his point was, a little perspective is a good thing. If the only thing we can say at the end of the day is there should be more diversity in movies, we're doing pretty well.

Oh, another point made was that most movie goers are young men so movies cater to young men. If you want movies made about who you are, whether that's a woman or minority, it's important to GO SEE such movies when they come out. Vote with your ticket.

Oh, gosh. I forgot about that one. I don't remember who it was, but it seemed like she was giddy over the size of it. Creepy doesn't begin to cover it (pun intended)!

I was thinking about how much times have changed. I wonder if her son is embarrassed about the way she lusts after these guys. I can't even imagine that my mother would be on any social media if it were available back in the day and she never, in a million years, would have done twitter flirting and never would have dared mention a guy's parts. That just wasn't who she was. Although it's a whole new world out there today, there is not a snowball's chance that she would be involved in any of it. No worries that I'd have to be embarrassed or mortified by her having internet crushes!

Our mothers had dignity and self respect, as I suspect most of us here do.
I don't know if being so bawdy makes her feel empowered, but flip the equation and think about a man tweeting those things to a woman.
The woman is the equivalent of a dirty old man at best, and a sexual harasser at worst.

Basically, making catcalls on Twitter is unbecoming of any woman, let alone a middle-aged one. Somewhere along the line, this person lost her self-respect and got a profound need to relive or create a rebellious youth.

What I'm not getting is why Andrews is going for an epic payday. This is excruciating for her to relive so publicly. I would think she could have settled for a nice tidy sum.
Does she want to enact changes? Exact revenge? Is it all about the money? Is it punishment in that "somebody's got to pay for this"?.
It seems to me that going through this civil trial is emotionally brutal and indelibly scars her as a victim for life.
She's not going to get $75 million, and clearly the hotel's lawyers will mitigate their role in the crime.
Maybe Andrews just wants it to go on record that the hotel could have protected her, and by extension, anyone who has a deranged stalker.
Do hotels now demand your cell phone # so you can be reached at anytime should someone inquire as to your whereabouts? Or to ask permission to situate another customer near to you?
I'm not victim shaming or victim blaming. I don't think I'd have gone this route, but of course, I've never been in her shoes.

Just thinking out loud (again, and thanks for reading).

Gaa! The pearl clutching and scolding get to the point where it becomes insulting to REAL racism. That line was crossed by anonymous here and by several OscarssoWhite hashtaggers. The pun on Uggs was just a pun for pity sake, not *racism*. Oh, and she is classless and has no dignity. It's unbecoming. Not apologizing for telling it like it is.

This past month, there were a couple mediocre actors who whined they didn't get a special little trophy and pulled the race card, and they got called on it. They also got reminded of their grandmothers and the kind of racial tensions THEY grew up with. Rightly so. This discussion is not racism. This is the facts. Kudos to Chris Rock.

You know one reason voters are responding overwhelming to Trump? Because for the past ten years you can't say anything, breathe anything, even think anything, for fear of being called racist, sexist, anti-immigrant, anti-Muslim, anti-gay, and on. Free speech has been trounced on like never before in the name of being PC and people are tired of it. One man finally said enough is enough I will say what I want and you can too, and voters are responding. We're actually finally talking about things we NEED to talk about to move this country forward, like immigration, like terrorism, etc. It has been a great thing, regardless of how much you hate the messenger. Those who are trailing Trump need to ask themselves what is it about Trump that voters are responding to. And I can tell you this, it's not because the majority of Republicans are racist. Rather, it's because the majority of Republicans see tremendous value in an open dialogue about tough issues, not more PC silencing and scolding. Had the other candidates been willing to pull back the curtains like he have, this would have been a very different election. But after today it's virtually certain to be him. He's taken the nomination. To continue to go around complaining and pearl clutching and being horrified without examining WHY he was so successful only hurts yourself.

I haven't followed it that closely but the reason the number is likely that high is she is probably seeking punitive damages as well as compensation for the emotional harm this did to her. Your actual damages may be no more than 10, 20 thousand dollars. A couple lost jobs because she was too distressed to work or something. But punitive and emotional is where the real cash comes in.

I don't get the sense she's trying to just get a payday. I mean, she has plenty of money. She has to be a millionaire. I think for what happened, the number might be right on point (75 mil, right?). I mean, what price can you put on your loss of privacy and being this distressed? Certainly I would value it in the many millions.

Whatever she ends up getting I imagine she's going to be the type that puts it right back into a charity. It's more about making a point and ensuring this never happens again than lining one's pockets.

It's coming out now this stalker was able to get rooms next to her on multiple occasions. It wasn't a one-time mistake thing. This is, apparently, something very easy to do. For whatever their hotel policies are someone was able to sweet talk their way right through it like butter. And this was a Marriot, a hotel chain in every city! That is horrifying. Now I'm thinking the hotel should be liable. It should have raised a red flag a single man staying in a hotel room getting a room next to a single woman, and now obvious connection between the two parties. I still however don't believe they necessarily knew who she was, but I don't know if that much matters.

Yes but unfortunately despite repeatedly being told WHY he was leading overwhelming in the polls, not a single one of the other candidates was willing to go there.

No one else wanted to tap into Americans' frustrations politely or with decorum or not politely or whatever. No one tapped into it at all. They just wanted to continue on with the same old same old election year M.O., same old topics we aren't allowed to talk about remained off limits. And they all lost for it. All of them but Trump.

This whole thing is fascinating. Especially the way the other candidates stubbornly, almost in a hellbent way, refused to go where Trump was going. Donors, I guess? I don't know.

I'm torn on the Erin Andrews situation. On the one hand it is obvious that her privacy was violated with her having done nothing to provoke it. Someone needs to be punished.

On the other hand I think she actually benefited financially from the leak of the tape. Her name was headline news for a while and I don't think it is coincidental that shortly after this she was invited to do DWTS and then later replace Brook Burke-Charvet as co-host.

The man that did the videos has plead guilty and has served time in jail. It seems the Marriott staff acted stupidly but not maliciously. An award for damages would be appropriate, but I just don't think her career was damaged at all.

I'm not saying she should be thankful for the violation of her privacy and I don't think it was a publicity stunt like some have insinuated, but the repercussions should fit the situation. It seems to be playing into the stereotypical American judicial mentality to go after whoever has the deepest pockets regardless of their actual culpability.

lol, yes, same here. I feel like I'm voting for the lesser of two evils, but knowing one of them at least isn't under investigation by the FBI for being too stupid to know what to do with e-mails makes me feel just a bit better. With the scandals and lies under one candidate's belt, there really isn't any other option for me. You have to go with your gut and vote for the one whom, at this point, you can at least trust, even though he's brash and outspoken. He doesn't soft pedal anything, and I think people believe that this is the person who finally isn't going to coddle anyone or anything.

This is an election unlike any that we've ever seen, and in some way it is refreshing to see that Americans are just plain sick and tired of the status quo. Would would have thought it?

You've summarized a lot of my thoughts. I also have to wonder what would happen if this were an unknown, average woman? A black woman? Someone who isn't drop-dead gorgeous, statuesque, famous and privileged?
Now, you could say that the video probably would not have gone viral as Andrew's has, but if we're talking about emotional suffering and financial hardship as a result, I don't think a "mediocre" would stand a chance in hell in front of a monolith like Marriott.
No one would care.
Andrews perhaps feels that she's been marginalized (in the eyes of the male-dominated world of sports broadcasting) and will never get the respect she's worked so hard for, but she can't say that she hasn't been able to work. I don't think she can say her sports career has been irretrievably damaged.
On the one hand she's been violated and damaged, but on the other, I hope she has the courage to not let this destroy any part of her, and especially not gravitate towards that notion because it behooves her cause in winning money in a civil lawsuit.
Trauma happens in many forms to many people, and the world is not fair. The guilty party has paid his debt to society, and if there's some financial remuneration to be extracted from deep pockets, I guess you go after that if you can.
It's not $75M-worthy, IMO, but several million perhaps. If indeed it were worth the astronomical sum of $75M, well then don't we all deserve some recompense for someone along the way?
If only the playing field were level...

You start to forget what the question was in the first place until a couple hours later you realize, you never got your answer.

I don't think that kind of obvious meandering to avoid real answers is going to play well at all against Trump, who goes straight to the point do not pass go, even if you don't like the answer you get there on the fast train.

Any opponent to him is going to have to go back to the drawing board because he's not playing by the traditional rules. And I think we'll get a better, higher quality debate for it.

Donald Trump reminds me of Broderick Crawford in the 1950 movie Born Yesterday. He played the part of the loud uncouth junk dealer Harry Brock who went to Washington with his girlfriend (Billie Holiday) to "buy" a Congressman. Both were brilliant in their roles. The movie also featured William Holden as the journalist who was hired to tutor the uneducated girlfriend. Great movie.

You can pearl clutch all you want about the horrible political correctness, but it won't change the fact that Donald Trump is a racist. He goes waaay beyond being politically incorrect. He gets called a racist and anti-Muslim because he IS racist and anti-Muslim. For goodness sake, thirty black students were kicked out of a Trump rally before he even appeared for doing nothing but sitting silently. Justify THAT. Since when is it inappropriate for a group of African Americans to attend a Republican rally together? They were kicked out because it was assumed that they were there to cause trouble based on their race. That, my friend, is RACISM.

If you think it's a great thing that our political discourse has been reduced to one candidate joking about the size of another's penis thanks to Donald Trump, that's just sad.

Donald Trump has no substance. He has no plans. He has no consistent stand on any issues. Those who complain that Hillary Clinton changes her positions for political expediency but "trust" Donald Trump are high on crack. Trust him to do what? A more realistic outcome would be the electoral college going off on its own and naming somebody of their own choosing as president.

I still think one of TFW's lowest moments was her lack of outrage when Bill Blankinship was exposed. Out of all the dozens of crew members,
a film editor is the one who has unfettered access to every minute of footage. Didn't that concern her? That someone who finds children arousing had seen her kids naked again and again? But her one and only response to his arrest was "NEVER HEARD OF HIM!" Don't blame her, folks -- she didn't know Mr. Film Man was a pervert! She's raising 8 kids alone!

Bernie has not said he would absolve anyone of their student loan debt. What he has said, and what he has outlined in his proposal for giving everyone the opportunity to afford college is this:
1. Make tuition free, at PUBLIC colleges, like it was at most colleges until the 1980s, and like it is in most major countries. He said if they can afford it, so can the United States.
2. His plan to find the funding to make college free is to impose a FRACTION of a percentage tax on Wall Street speculators like 40 something other countries do. According to his proposal this will provide 75 Billion dollars to fund college tuition.
3. He has not proposed doing away with existing student loan debt. He has proposed that the interest rate on existing debt be lowered and that the government should not profit off student loan debt.
4. He proposes that all low-income citizens are able to cover 100% of their education costs through grants and financial aid, as opposed to how it is now that they are only able to cover a portion of it and the rest has to be taken in student loans.

Another thing I'd like to see parents held responsible for is posting video of their kids to social media when the child is heavily medicated and/or still under the influence of anesthesia.
These viral videos of children totally out of it, saying dumb/"cute" things, and acting drunk or high as a kite are not suitable for public consumption unless and until the child is of legal age to post it themselves.

Years ago, one of my patients had outpatient surgery on her knee. The surgery was in the same building, so I asked both the patient and surgeon if I could observe.
It was a quick (arthroscopic) surgery and the patient was put under, then reversed. As she came out of anesthesia, she was very high and very happy, telling her surgeon how much she loved him.
I can not imagine taping that and putting it out there! How embarrassing!
Are children going to be any less embarrassed when they're older? I don't think so.
When you are most vulnerable and not in control, it should be illegal to film and post that without consent, and children don't give consent. They are simply not capable of it to begin with.

I hope people who support Trump understand that as president he cannot run the country unilaterally. I don't think Trump gets it. Did he ever take a Civics class? He's already antagonized Speaker Ryan. He accused Trump, without naming him, of preying on people's prejudices.

From Fortune magazine:

“Paul Ryan, I don’t know him well, but I’m sure I’m going to get along great with him,” Trump said. “And if I don’t, he’s going to have to pay a big price.”

So, there you have it. The Republican party’s most senior constitutional officer and its increasingly likely presidential nominee exchanging veiled, or not-so-veiled, threats through the press. Sounds like the beginning of a very productive working relationship.

Tucker's Mom (#188), it seems there is no limit to what people will do to seek attention. Look at my kid! Look at my pet! Look at what I just ordered for dinner! It's such a bizarre phenomenon. The attention (and subsequent comments and Likes) is like a quick fix, and in the case of over-sharing about their kids, they don't seem to take that extra second to think how it might be a violation of their children's privacy.

Primary in our state over, no more political robocalls to avoid. Hooray!
Hilarious parody "adaptation" of The Producers on Jimmy Kimmel Sunday night after the Oscars. "Trumped" starting Nathan lane, Matthew Broderick, Cloris Leachman. It's on you tube and it's very funny!

Bernie has not said he would absolve anyone of their student loan debt.

&&&&&&&&&&&

Oh, yes he did! Absolutely he did, and I wasn't drinking at the time! I heard him say it and thought...how will he do that? I also heard the comment about tuition at a public institution of higher learning, so I am not confusing the two.

OT, in the state of PA:

"NORRISTOWN, Pa. —Bill Cosby's preliminary hearing in a criminal sex-assault case is on hold while a Pennsylvania appeals court considers his effort to have the case thrown out before trial.

The Pennsylvania Superior Court put the case on hold Tuesday while the court weighs the prosecution request to shut down Cosby's pretrial appeal.

The 78-year-old Cosby is accused of drugging and molesting a Temple University employee in his suburban Philadelphia home in 2004.

He says a former district attorney promised he would never be charged in the case.

A different district attorney last year reopened the case and filed charges against Cosby in December, before the statute of limitations expired.

The preliminary hearing to determine if probable cause exists to send the case to trial had been set for March 8."

@Pa dutch mom I'd like to know what everyone here's opinion is about the Cosby case is.I said this before but honestly,i have no clue.I don't believe over 50 women are lying about cosby raping them.(not to say that i don't think some are lying.)I've herd that studies show that women who get raped don't speak out soon, due to fear that no one would believe them and other things.I also did hear that he admitted to giving them drugs but some cosby supporters claim this doesn't prove he raped them.I've seen cosby supporters also compare this case to Michael Jackson or alien abductions where despite alot of people claiming something, doesn't prove it because there's no evidence to prove it.In fact wasn't Michael Jackson found not guilty? So im not sure.

All the candidates talk as if they are running for a dictatorship and will be able to just wave a wand and impliment their policies. I think most of America understands we have a checks and balances system, which is one reason a fringe candidate like Trump or Bernie never alarmed me the way it seems to some folks.

The real question that people should be asking is not what your policies are but how you will implement them.

Trump actually is one of the few that talks about how his ability to negotiate deals he believes will translate to negotiating political deals. I have no idea if it WILL translate, but at least he is talking about how he intends to make his ideas happen.

If I were grilling any of the candidates I would bring up all of their multiple failures in various political deals over the years and ask them what's different now.

I heard it too. Although I can't promise I wasn't drinking at the time.

As for Cosby, they're going to try to bury them in paperwork until the end of the time while he enjoys his senior years. I believe he is guilty and has gotten away with raping and drugging women for decades. Really tragic for women.

lol! I know that I wasn't drinking and I heard it. I remember how surprised I was at the time, thinking, gosh, how will he manage to pull that off?

Someone commented that anyone who trusts Trump is high on crack. After the results of Super Tuesday, it seems like so many in America must be flying above the clouds right now. I wonder if they are sharing their stuff.

Speaking of invading your child's privacy! My husband was flipping TV channels in the other room a few minutes ago & I heard Rosie O'Donnell on HBO doing a monologue about when she was adopting her son. She went into great detail about deciding to have him circumcised. I'm sure as a teen he appreciates her sharing that...not!
