Coming up on Kate Plus 8, school shopping for clothes, backpacks, and Kate gets distracted by something shiny and starts buying things for herself. This is a literal repeat of at least a couple other back-to-school boring episodes, including Kate buying much more for herself than for the kids. No one in production is even trying to do something original, and why would they when phoning it in is enough? Kate doesn't believe in being fair because that wastes money. She should write a blog post on saving money by not being fair, Dave Ramsey would be proud.
It's always about Kate, Cara explains, who is old enough to be on to her mother but not old enough to realize when she should probably shush, which is my favorite age.
Kate is more orange than usual today in her couch interviews--I would say it's "Trump orange," which is a color I better patent soon before someone else steals it. But in the footage of her packing up the van her hue is back to normal, which is more eggshell white. Hannah gets stress headaches, Kate says as she discloses what should be confidential medical information. At 11 she's stressed? What on earth is she stressed about? Kate packs her into the van with a blanket.
Is that a booster seat? Wtf? I understand the carseat guidelines have shifted to include much older children now (in Pennsylvania, the law is booster seat up until age 7), but these kids are all way too old for that now. Most seat belts will fit children 4'9 and up comfortably and safely. None of these children are that short anymore. Give it up, Kate, they are not toddlers and haven't been for a long time.
It looks horrendous carting a sick child to the mall, I know, Kate says. Correct, it does. So why do it? A set teacher certainly wouldn't permit this or risk losing their license. Kate did the same to one of the boys not too long ago. They have a full time nanny, why can't Hannah stay behind with her? Kate explains this is just a Hannah thing and she'll get over it in a few hours.
There's Shoka again, a mere inches from the moving tires of a several-ton vehicle. Grr!!!
Dowdy Deanna just happened to be visiting and takes the twins off separately at the mall. Why couldn't Deanna stay home with Hannah, and make the twins suck it up and go with Kate and the rest of their siblings? Why do I hurt my brain wondering these things?
The boys say they don't like shopping other than for toys. By the looks of them they don't much enjoy endless couch interviews either as Aaden tosses his head back and lets out a huge yawn.
You know something that I didn't notice much in the past but is really starting to irritate me? How funny-cute Kate thinks she is. She tries to make these little self-depricating jokes and they're just annoying, not funny. "I get distracted by things I want to buy .... maybe I even acted like a person who had never been to a mall before. Did I remind you of someone like that? " She smiles like a goon.
Typically, no one cares what was done in year's past or why or how they need what they need, who likes what or doesn't, and all the whining and begging that ensues.
Joel says they don't want the same backpacks because that makes them look younger. Exactly!! Of course the kids don't want to dress alike or have the same things, contrary to the sheeple claiming maybe they like that. Of course they don't like that, no 11-year-old likes looking like a baby. The only nice thing about the fact that these kids a decade later are still working is that they are validating pretty much everything we predicted about how they likely feel.
I enjoy watching Kate try to reason with a pre-teen. It's one of the few tolerable things left of this God forsaken reality show.
The kids want her to buy them water bottles but Kate passes on that, initially anyway. She says bottles get dirty and disgusting and they leave water in them and she ends up being the one always cleaning them out. I can't disagree there, reusable water bottles are a great idea in your perfect green fantasy but rarely work out in reality. I have a Contiga cup which is an incredible invention, when I get around to cleaning out last month's English breakfast tea.
Half a minute later Kate's buying them water bottles. She is either the biggest pushover in the world or is just trying to be on her best behavior for the cameras. Much like how she parents in general, she only seems to understand the tangible aspect of raising kids, the stuff, the things. She doesn't understand good parenting is not that you bought kids water bottles because they really wanted them, but rather good parenting is making sure your sick child stays home with someone they trust instead of being dragged along on this trip, or better yet shop on another day. Hannah says shopping stresses her mom out. I wonder if that's why Hannah in turn gets stressed out.
Kate selects some tupperware and admits 90% of her shopping is done online. I was just going to say why don't they buy all this crap online like normal people? Does anyone even go to malls anymore? Malls are closing across the country at an alarming rate because people just don't go anymore. You can get better deals online usually anyway, and almost all stores now have a liberal return policy with free shipping no questions asked. You save stress, time, and gas and can try things on in the comfort of your own home. I'm guessing the other 10% of Kate's big box store shopping occurs solely because of the cameras.
During an excruciatingly boring conversation about gym clothes I can hear one of the kids politely saying "excuse me, Mommy," trying to get her attention. She is ignored of course. It makes sense now why these kids shout, scream and stomp around so much. Being quiet and polite gets you nowhere.
We're moving "owwn" to the next thing which is I guess clothes. This could easily have been the same footage from the premiere episode of this season, School's Out! where they went to the department store to buy luggage. It's that similar. Kate's helping Leah pick out some dresses and Alexis wants something too. Naturally Kate's comment about how shopping isn't always going to be fair was about Alexis, the least girlie of the girls. Figures. I'm not sure I even agree with Kate about how it can't be fair. It seems like this can easily be made fair. Give the kids each $50, $75 or whatever your budget is and have them pick out what they want with your approval. They're old enough to handle the money and pick out their clothes and that makes it perfectly fair. That noggin of hers sure thinks funny.
This is rather interesting, I assumed the twins didn't want to shop with the younger kids because they seem to hate sharing the same planet as them, but Mady reveals that actually she doesn't understand why she didn't shop with the other kids since she needs clothes too, and that she "wasn't allowed." Wasn't allowed by whom? Production? Conversely, Kate claims the twins didn't want to shop with the younger kids. I immediately assume Kate's lying and Mady's telling the truth. So was separating them out done to have two separate shopping segments and stretch this out? Hmm!!
Anywho, the twins are with Deanna and picking out stuff and it's all absolutely uneventful and boring. Kate buys their boring stuff and then does that sarcastic "thank you, Mommy," thing that some annoying parents say to their kids when their kids forget to say thank you. In defense of Mady, Kate started it, and Mady explains that she was going to say thank you, was in fact about to say it. I'm going to give Mady the benefit of the doubt on this. They had just bought the shoes, at least give the child until the car ride home to thank her.
This sets Mady off on a snide little tirade, accusing Kate of treating her like a brat. "Thank you, but you can say it to yourself," she snaps, whatever that means. She is I would guess about six months away from saying, "Thank you, but you should be thanking us because that's our money you're buying it with." Just ask the former child actor Missy Francis how old she was when she realized the same about her mother and started embezzling her own money to herself just to be sure she'd see any of it by the time she was 18.
Mady can be trying, she's mean to her siblings and I think the way Kate allows her to speak to her is completely unacceptable, but I also understand what Mady's saying here, and that is that Kate is unreasonable, disrespectful and patronizing to her, yet expects perfect respect back. It's a set-up, it's unfair and certainly very obnoxious.
All Kate can do is sigh and ignore her at this point, and I think she's wise to shut up and just let Mady say her peace. Kate won't take any of it to heart though, which is a pity. A little give and take with this dysfunctional relationship might do wonders.
It's a good thing we're not playing a drinking game this afternoon because I'd be soused to the gills. I just heard two typicallys and an "in general." Kate basically admits she's bribing the kids with pretzels. To buy shoes, or really just to stick around and film? I sense the latter. Mmm, I love mall pretzels. And mall cinnamon buns. That's all I miss about malls now that I don't go anymore like most people. Speaking of which, some of the finest television "short films" were made in a Cinnabon in Omaha. Watch Better Call Saul, the best show on television this year, and you'll understand.
I love the way Lancaster is pronounced in Pennsylvania: Lane-kes-ter. That is the correct way if I may say so. We have a Lancaster here, a medium-sized city in L.A. County but pronounced Lan-caster, and to go with its inferior pronunciation it's a desert with lots of snakes and varmints and not enough gas stations to run your tank down to almost empty and be fine.
How ironic, Kate has wonderful fond memories of her grandparents taking her to the mall. Grandpa gave them each $5 to spend. Sounds like even ole Gramps understands how to make shopping "fair."
The store didn't have a good selection of shoes, didn't have their sizes or the styles they want, and it doesn't look like they ended up buying anything. Remember those days? Now we have the inter-webs, where I promise you can find your size and style somewhere in that vast wonderland even if you might have to resort to ebay. Kate says for the second time how much she hates all this. Well, she makes it harder on herself. All this could be accomplished with a few clicks and a credit card that's already automatically entered by the little green men at Google.
The little people are swimming again, which I realize now was a good excuse for production to try out their underwater camera rigs. They don't come cheap.
We're back with a completely unrelated subplot storyline to plot A, about how they're going to refurbish their picnic table. Kate and the younger kids head to the hardware store. The twins complain that they were not told they were going to the hardware store, they just woke up and they were gone. Sheesh, I hope schmoopy at least left them a note! Assuming it's true, that the twins weren't informed of this outing, this is what I mean by Kate not respecting them. You can't be as rude and inconsiderate as she apparently is to them, then expect respect back. It's a two-way street.
Kate admits she doesn't "typically" take them to do errands like this, but the cameras are here so .... well, she really claims she took them them because this is going to be a whole-family project, but the truth is the kids are just in her way and she's not making any effort to include them in this shopping trip, and this is really about the cameras.
Mady and Cara couldn't be more unenthused about helping to sand the table. They're insufferable but understandable.
Kate pulls out a power sander and makes a whole big deal about operating this machinery. This happened before too, just a couple episodes ago when she worked with a chain saw. I hate women who think its funny and cute when they tackle traditionally male jobs and act all damsel in distress about it. At one time this show recycled plot ideas from a season or two ago, now it's just an episode or two ago. It's like a blond bimbo high-pitched awful version of Groundhog Day, a movie I hate in the first place. Ha, Kate's awful at sanding, it runs every which way taking the scenic route down the table. Either that or she's really playing up the woman fumbling around with power tools gag. Amy Schumer she is not.
Of course most of the kids start to gradually wander away, bored, now that Kate is power sanding and not including them or even letting them try it. What does she expect?
Just an observation now that yet another too long and boring segment is over, but why didn't they pull out the power sander sooner? Why did they all sit there with sandpaper blocks and slave away for who knows how long when Kate had a power sander right there all along that could have done the entire job in 10 minutes?
This is a rhetorical questions I suppose, and the answer to most of my rhetorical questions is usually, because it was being filmed. It makes no sense to do things quickly and efficiently when you're being filmed, then you'd never be able to find enough footage to fill up 60 minutes of this drivel every week. You can only roll your eyes I guess. The kids are half onto all this and will be all the way there soon.

Commercials, and when we get back they're still sanding that god damned picnic table! I feel like I'm in sandpaper purgatory and can't get out. A somewhat new thing they are doing during the kids' couch interviews is have them say the same thing at the same time. It's Children of the Corn creepy.
Amy Schumer here is working with an air compressor now, acting all inept again. Blow me.
Kate's glad the full-time nanny Andrea happened to be there since for some reason Andrea knows about how to stain picnic tables. Why wouldn't Andrea be there? She is their full-time nanny. The kids trickle back in now, interested in painting. Instead of whining about it, maybe Kate should just appreciate what they are willing to help with, little as it is. Finally after two long segments the table is finished, it looks great and the kids are mildly proud of their efforts. It really is amazing what a little sanding and staining can do. That's what she said.
Commercials, this time the promo is about people who are 600 pounds and a network that still pretends watching people pull their rolls of fat out from their pants and roll it around has educational value.
We're back with the third subplot in this episode that's actually related to the school shopping this time, final preparations for their first day of school. Mady makes an interesting comment that it's not cool to be entering high school, though she likes they don't have to wear uniforms anymore. I have never in all my life met a kid who wasn't thrilled to finally be going to high school with the big kids, even if there were a little first day nerves about it. It's just a strange comment. The twins are going shopping for clothes again? The first trip wasn't enough?
They're at one of those small boutique clothing shops that most women can't afford to shop at until at least a decade after college is over and several salaried paychecks later. In typical Mady and Cara fashion the twins are ungrateful, disagreeable and unhelpful to the very nice salesperson helping them who apparently cleared the store out for them. Kate defends their rude and unacceptable behavior by saying she was just like that as a teen. Well, then they get it from her.
Kate can't help herself and goes after all the shiny stuff, grabbing up dresses and blouses and handbags like it's a pop-up swag tent. The twins knew that would happen, heh.
Kate's still defending Mady who is making snide comments by saying it was actually a round-about way for Mady to say Kate looked nice. Lol! Kate, "oh my gosh you look like a human" is not a nice comment no matter how you twist and turn yourself around to make it one. She is the worst, no wonder these twins are the way they are. The music during this segment was pulled from stock 17th century harpsichords, which is random.

Up next, they're going to another boutique??? I really am in shock how much is being repeated and recycled in this episode, and the sheer greed I'm witnessing.
At last the final segment. What's the point in clearing out an expensive boutique for ungrateful teenagers if they don't like anything? Cara is actually arguing with Kate that she has enough summer clothes, she doesn't want anymore, and Mady doesn't seem to want anything at this place. Why in the world is Kate pushing them into buying summer clothes on a back-to-school trip in the Northeast when 95% of your school year will be spent in winter clothes?
Kate complains they're in a phase where they have very narrow likes and don't want to branch out. So? That's normal. At that age I think I had one or two sweaters and a pair of jeans I wore to death, as long as they are washed regularly it's not hurting anything. What does Kate care? Just get them what they like, online, and be done with it. She really picks a lot of fights she doesn't need to.
Mady gives Kate one too many "it's all about you" comments and Kate finally loses her shit, haha. Love it.
A third store???? This is truly agonizing. Just take my word for it absolutely nothing interesting happened here. Kate suggests she and Mady get these completely ugly sweater pants and share them, "share custody of them" she says. Oh yeah cause Kate's so great at sharing custody of anything. Mady, you'll never see those sweater pants again except maybe for a Tuesday night dinner once in awhile but that's it.
It's finally over, and next time we pick out more clothes but at least it's for Kate's fake-date, and her rather cute (!) suitor, nice selection from all those head shots, production! Baw-hahhaa, the side hug and turned cheek at the end of the date. Shade! Cannot wait.
Little people playing with bubbles, and we're out.

Kate thinks the kids will be over her house all the time. Maybe some, but not all. Some will get the hell away asap.
I would not want to be rattling around in that mansion all alone.
Surely the camera crew would’ve gravitated toward the handsome firstborn, turning his engagement into a major storyline and reducing the wedding sacrament to a heavily marketed special episode.

Everything that's filmed is ultimately cheapened and debased because it's done for money. Everything becomes fodder for making episodes, everything from birthdays to even divorce.
It's immoral, really.
The Schwandt family is devout with 13 boys to support, yet they don't feel the need to couch greed in the name of "spreading God's word" like the Duggars and Busbys.
Trying to put a pretty patina on greed by calling it some sort of religious ministry is no different than any and all of those Evangelical tv preachers who are filthy rich and fly around in their multi-million dollar Gulfstream jets.
Tucker's Mom, I read that article too!
Here's the thing. TLC has been involved with the family for quite a while. The babies were born April 8. 2015. Hogwash that they could not afford that bigger house. TLC has been filming them for a year. TLC made the announcement about Outdaughtered in August, 2015.
**************
They started filming quite a while before the quints were even born. I don't know what the show was titled, but I watched an episode (there may have been more than one, I honestly don't remember) and the mom was in the hospital on bed-rest, pre-babies. They showed them bringing the babies home, etc.
It's obvious the parents were so VERY savvy and had their path to notoriety and their financial path planned for a VERY long time by their early blogging, branding, their savvy associations with companies, their early filming (they had to have had contact with TLC and/or a production company like Figure 8 VERY early in the pregnancy) and by the mom's always camera ready, professionally looking hair and makeup - even in the delivery room. SMH
Does anyone think this family will say thank you for being supportive and watching our show, but we need to concentrate on raising our children and walk away from the show after one season? I sure don't. I think they're in it for the long haul.
Oh, oh! I stuck my foot in my mouth in my previous comment about this family and their show! Darn it, I hate when that happens. lol
Anyway, I did NOT see this family previously on TLC. (and I just now took a peek at their blog - something I should have done prior to my previous comment! duhhh!) I have no idea which family it is that I watched (and I've seen a commercial for them recently - thus my confusion), but the mom on the 'It's a Buzz World' blog is definitely not the one on the show where the mom was in full makeup in the hospital and filming long before the babies were delivered.
I still think the Busby family is very savvy and in the reality business for the long haul. I'm going to shut up now.
Years and years ago I read a magazine article about a guy who rented a closet in a stranger's NYC apartment.
He paid some whopping amount, but was happy as a clam to be paying "only" that amount to live in thze city.

The Busbys are another slow-motion train wreck. I think we should take bets on when the divorce happens.
When the babies are filmed potty training.
When they go to Disney, to Lego Land, to the Crayola factory.
When the first cross promotion is filmed. Will they cook with Emeril?
When the vowel renewal is staged.
I just Googled the Busbys. OMG, they look so young!
The guy who lived in a box in his friend's dining room had to remove it. It was against code and nobody had permission to build it in the first place. He would have been better off and safer renting a futon in the apartment.
I'm wondering how soon before they're showing how they 1) keep organized
2) use coupons
3) dress the 5 youngest (identically?) and who will provide family outfits.
I agree that the Busby and the Gosselin stories seem interchangeable and the Busby's story line will continue to be no more enlightening than Kate's. How many times can they show leaky faucet *emergencies*
and tiresome trips to a store? I guess somebody will find out, but it won't be me. Kate removed all interest in wanting to know how HOM families cope.
Carole(#7)--that other family with multiples that you saw were the Gardner quadruplets. What made their babies special, were that they were two sets of identical twin girls. They were part of a TLC show called "Rattled", which aired back in February and featured several couples who were having babies for the first time.
Trying to put a pretty patina on greed by calling it some sort of religious ministry is no different than any and all of those Evangelical tv preachers who are filthy rich and fly around in their multi-million dollar Gulfstream jets.

TLC was also filming the Busby's before the birth. This is from their blog:
It’s A Buzz World coming to TLC
Adam August 9, 2015
We have been getting a lot of messages over the past couple days asking us about having our own show on TLC.
YES, those headlines are TRUE.
We have been working with them since before the birth of these very special quints and are so excited to have documented this incredible story of God’s grace poured out on our lives. Less than a year ago we started a blog to keep our friends and family updated about our unbelievable journey. We never thought that it would have been shared the world over the way that it has. We truly believe that the only reason that we have been given this great opportunity to share our story and have a voice to potentially millions of people is because of our faithfulness in Christ. With all of the craziness in the world right now, we can’t help but wake up smiling when we see these little miracles and we hope that our family has brought a smile to your home also.
One of the main things that we hear from people that know and care for us is about the negatives of what this much attention has done to some families. All I can say to that is, we aren’t those families… We are the Busbys! We have surrounded ourselves with an incredible support group from our family, church and close friends that help to keep us grounded and accountable. Are we perfect? Nope! We will never claim to be. We are a normal family with an amazing story, that loves Jesus and are forgiven through his sacrifice on the cross. We have given a pretty extraordinary story to tell and we hope that it has brought a smile to your face so far. We are thankful to TLC for giving us the opportunity to bring the Buzz World to your home and give you just a glimpse of the craziness that ensues around us.
Thank you all for your support and stay tuned for some very exciting things to come as these little miracle babies grow.
Thank you all for Sharing our story the world over and continuing to do so. The world needs a happy story.
We love you all

I'm sure the Gosselins and the Masches also thought that they weren't "those families" when they started filming. We know how that all turned out.
I agree that the Busby and the Gosselin stories seem interchangeable and the Busby's story line will continue to be no more enlightening than Kate's.

But, but, their mission is to educate the unwashed masses about HOM's and Jesus! We've NEVER seen a family with lots of kids, or all one-sex kids.
It's so unheard of!

From checking out different articles on them, I found out that when the quints were born last year, Danielle was 31 and Adam was 32 and that they have been married for at least 9 years.

So will these Busby people work with TLC and not accept any money from the network? I mean, if your main intention is to spread the word and share your family in the name of Jesus, then you do it without expecting a payment in return. If freebies are offered, will the material things be declined? If extensive trips are included, will they say, "no thank you...just donate all trips to the kids in the Make A Wish Foundation."
Something tells me in the not-too-distant future we shall see what the Busbys are all about, and I don't have a good feeling about it. It's the Gosselins and deja vu all over again.

If they're hearing so much about the negatives, maybe there's something to the negatives? And what arrogance to think that they won't fall victim to what many others have.
As far as being perfect, confusing the issue again. No one said parents who put their kids on TV have to be perfect. No one said parents who DON'T put their kids on TV have to be perfect either. Being perfect has nothing to do with anything.
It sounds like the Busbys are doing some preliminary damage control in anticipation that as time goes on they are expecting to be hit with volumes of negative reactions.
I would be very surprised if this doesn't end up as a Gosselin reprise.
The Church Ladies -- sheesh! Now I'm not able to look away. They are such a hoot.

Gosh, I feel so honored and blessed that these folks have interrupted what must be non-stop chaos in their lives to allow cameras into their homes, just so people like me can get a smile on our faces at the crazy antics of their little ones! Never mind respecting their children's privacy, and the sanctity of their home. Delighting strangers comes first!
Everything I've read so far screams future train wreck. But I hope they prove me wrong.

Carole(#7)--that other family with multiples that you saw were the Gardner quadruplets. What made their babies special, were that they were two sets of identical twin girls. They were part of a TLC show called "Rattled", which aired back in February and featured several couples who were having babies for the first time.
**************
KIAT, Thank you so much for that info. I was going crazy trying to remember what I'd watched, where, and when. HA! It's hell getting old; at least that's what I'm going to blame this latest memory snafu on. LOL
Somehow, I have missed all the promos for the Busby family.
I assume the babies are adorable.
I think I have possibly seen this new show -- funny chaos, frazzled parents, bodily function accidents, hectic schedules and several "praise the Lord" references.
Fooled me once -- shame on you. Fooled me twice -- shame on me.
Carole (#33), no worries about the mix up!
Dmsay (#34), but, but, but, this family is different! They are the BUSBYS! They won't
be corrupted by fame and freebies and attention!
And I'm sure their 6 kids don't even notice the other half dozen people in their house with cameras and microphones and clipboards, and
the person yelling "Action!" and "Cut!" It
may be a crazy life, but it's THEIR life!

That's exactly how I feel, Dmasy. Same old formula and it's evident on any of their 'multiple' (hehe) social media. Lordy be!!!!
Happy Mother's Day to all you moms, daughters and parents to furry friends!
They are living in a house they cannot afford, they admit it. Someone freebied it to them. But who is going to pay the utilities, upkeep and property taxes over the next several decades? Is it a small enough house they can keep up with the cleaning and maintenance themselves or will they have to hire someone at even more cost? Are they sure even if they have no mortgage they can afford all the other expenses that come with a big home?
I don't think it was a freebie. They sold their old home from same builder. The Busby's entered a contest and they won 10k of upgrades. Also, Adam works in the oil business in Houston and has for the last 10 years. So he not exactly a Jon. I think their income was significantly higher to start with. But I agree, he is very savy about social media, and I imagine Jon would have been too, at the time.
I don't think their prayer announcement is that strange. They were asking for guidance through a huge decision. Don't you prayer for guidance about huge decisions?
Watched the Quad Squad yesterday and the hubby can't even pull his girls up a hill in their wagons because he is so out of shape. That irks me as he is never without his freebie sodadelicious or free donuts he plugs constantly. He is a slob who sits with his legs open and his garments, LDS undies are always showing. A big no no.
HOM parents do have some gimmie in their personalities that is for sure.
Sara
I'm not giving a dime to parents who have a gourmet automatic bottle maker, but then I have sense
IF I had 5 babies at once you better believe I would use the new fancy bottle maker. In fact, I know mediocre parents who use these. They are wonderful. My thrifty granola cousin uses a lot of her products. Mostly she wants all natural on her babies. I get that too.
Really, your ranting does sound a little over the top.
Adam had a problem too. He had to take Clomid. I had never heard of a man taking this drug.
And yes, Danielle did snap at Adam. I think she is a very strong personality.

Most people on reality tv become tabloid fodder. It's not a matter of "if", rather, "when".
Who ever thought the far-right religious Duggars would be one of the biggest scandals around?
I'm not a fan of small houses. I don't need or want a mansion, but those tiny homes are just way too constricting to me. Also, there's no way to age in place.
One deadly fart would fill the damn place up in no time, and there's nowhere to go!
Actually they are marketing a tiny house for the Senior community so that family can place one of these tiny homes in their backyards for Mom or Dad as they age. Great idea and cheaper than assisted living or being institutionalized in a nursing home. Too bad your gas problem will be a problem for your roomies as you age. Ha!

Savor all the moments you can. I'm an orphan now, and boy, I wish I could just give my mom a call or take her out to brunch today.
Prayers to your father.
I have no idea which family it is that I watched (and I've seen a commercial for them recently - thus my confusion), but the mom on the 'It's a Buzz World' blog is definitely not the one on the show where the mom was in full makeup in the hospital and filming long before the babies were delivered.
I still think the Busby family is very savvy and in the reality business for the long haul. I'm going to shut up now.
You are referring to the Gardners's of Utah, the Quad Squad. Man, she is as shallow as a wading pool. They aren't nearly as savvy and it shows. They grift a little more bluntly but they have the LDS community helping them. They are known for helping their own. I can see why TLC went for the the Busby's over the small part the Gardner's had in Rattled. I also think the Gardner's are pretty envious of all the Busby's have. The Gardner's just are as good at grifting. They recently got 4 too big of carseats for their girls who should be still rear facing and were eaten alive on Facebook. Claiming their car was too small for the seats, instead of getting smaller car seats. Now they don't show them in the car. Their vlogs are very boring.

I can see a senior living in a tiny house if it's ADA compliant. I wouldn't put an elderly person in one that's not.

Sorry to hear your dad is not well, prairemary. And I think you are doing a good thing, celebrating your parents together, now. Funny how even now, I think of something to ask my mom, or a TV show they might enjoy..and then remember they are gone. People, ask your relatives questions you want to know the answers to NOW- anything: medical, about your family ancestry, business affairs, old stories...you may not have the chance again.

Yes, we've discussed Betty and Eric here several times, what happened to them, and the love and affection they had for their children, one of whom is special needs. Nobody seemed to know exactly why they were cancelled -- if TLC pulled the plug because they were too mediocre and there was no drama, or if he Hayes said no more filming.

Exactly. Just give it some time. Once TLC gets their grubby claws in the parents' hair, they indeed will be *that* family. They will be addicted to the good life and TLC will have them just where they want them. I'd bet the farm on it.

I don't know about jealous, but I think Kate guarded her turf-her piece of the TLC pie-quite ferociously. She was always keenly aware of her competition.
I think it's remarkable that Table for 12 just stopped cold turkey-not one "special" that I'm aware of. Which leads me to think that the parents were just done with filming.
People, ask your relatives questions you want to know the answers to NOW- anything: medical, about your family ancestry, business affairs, old stories...you may not have the chance again.
********
Yes, ancestry and the story behind the story. Recipes!
Blowing In The Wind (#54), and the fact that we
are unsure about the Hayes family's whereabouts
seems to prove you can go back to a "regular"
life after TLC fame. TFW claimed it was impossible, and cited that as one of the reasons she decided to stay on TV. Oh, along with the family vote she allegedly took every year --
with ballots cast by babies and toddlers.
It's still interesting to me the Buzzes admit they get a lot of comments from people about not being "that" family. That makes me wonder if a lot of people, maybe even friends and family, are worried. I suspect that's the real reason why Kate lost many of her circle. Judging by the tone of their blog they really are already "that" family, it's just a question of how far this will go.
Sara, gadgets are wonderful. But did you read their product page? They use a variety of top of the line products for the kids yet still want donations. It's greedy. Go to work like everyone else and support the kids you knew full well you could have when you put in that many eggs. Their pregnancy story makes clear this should have NOT been a surprise.
Admin (#59), when TFW dubbed the father of her
8 children "mediocre," she really showed her hand. In her marrow, she considers herself a superior human being. And yet she seems to have no discernible talent with which to back up that arrogance.
And that's why my radar pings when this new
family of multiples is already crowing, "We're
the Busbys!" What is it exactly they're bragging about? Their super strong faith which has already scored them a TV show and a house they couldn't afford? The number of followers and likes they can point to on social media? Or is it the genetic anomaly of having quint girls, for which they can take no credit?
Isn't the 12th birthday of the Gosselin sextuplets this Tuesday, the 10th? I wonder what obnoxious, childish celebration TLC provided them with this time for filming.
As for this Busby family, I predict three years before they go down in flames also. TLC has such a penchant for these things!
Wonder if Blayke, the older sibling of the Busbys, will grow to resent the quints as the G twins did the tups. Sad.

Lol, the kids probably googled successful mothers and printed out the first platitude they saw. Sounds like they put a lot of thought into this one tee hee.
I think she's burdening these kids. They should not be this focused on Kate and her resilience, success, struggles. And, she DOESN'T struggle unless you consider the choice between the preacher's deck and the lesbian's a tough one. If she's still going on about the divorce, that's ancient history. Grow up. She is giving her children a really skewed sense of suffering in this world if she is teaching them that she is a survivor who has picked up the shattered pieces of her life. Gimme a break.

Has anyone seen the movie, "We Were The Mulvaneys" with Beau Bridges and Blythe Danner? That's the first thing that came to my mind when I read the statement from the Busbys.
I don't think for one minute that Kate got that card from her kids. That card is all about how she sees herself. Dollars to donuts(whatever that means), she Googled Mother's Days cards and chose that one to tweet and say her kids gave it to her. All those words, tenacious, dedicated, successful, struggle, struggles. That's Kate's life the way she wants people to see it so they can send her many hearty congratulations and high-fives.
Meh. She is such a liar. She's setting the stage for the "I am" campaign to talk about her 1 percenter struggles that she has brought upon herself.
I don't think that card came from her kids.
She is truly the only one in that campaign who caused her own "struggles." Directly caused.
Everyone else was just born that way in a cruel twist of genetics.
I'd be mortified to be lumped in with someone truly struggling because they are two and a half feet tall, or they were born a boy but really feel like a girl.
Interesting...thanks for finding that card which is billed not as a card but inspirational saying on Google. I just knew that card did not come from the kids but she hash tagged it as a card from them. She needs help.

Kris (#64), I agree that those sentiments aren't
typical for a Mother's Day card. And sadly, I think that speaks to a lack of the warm, "squishy" feelings you'd expect a young child to express to a mom.
I absolutely believe that the G kids love their mother dearly. I am not questioning that, and never want to disrespect the sanctity of that bond. But we've seen hundreds of hours of footage of her with them, and besides when they were tiny, I just don't get the sense that she's affectionate (no, I don't count putting your hands on your kids' skulls to direct them as affection).
And sure, some people aren't touchy-feely,
but convey loving feelings with words or tone.
That sure ain't TFW either. And to anyone who
would defend her to say she probably does all
that stuff off-camera, I would refer them to
TFW's own words: her show is the "realest reality."

I saw that movie! It was based on a Joyce Carol Oates book I read. It was about the Mulvaneys who felt their reputation as a perfect family was more important than the feelings of their daughter who had been raped by a popular jock type of similar social standing in the town. Nothing bad could happen to THEM, but they did, many things, and the facade was broken iirc
I don't think it was a freebie.
&&&&
They admit in their blog that it was a freebie. Perhaps not completely free, but they explain that they were trying to decide between that expensive house and a cheaper house, and just couldn't afford the more expensive house. And then someone came through and helped them financially (it's a little confusing who, I think they imply the builder company gave them a huge discount) and they could get the bigger house. That's a freebie, whether it was in full or just in part. They sure do run their mouths a lot, which provides a lot of answers to speculation.
Oh, and there are a lot of little, and big, grammar errors on their blog. I don't think they're that bright. It's not like it's just a quick comment on a blog you're not taking the time to proofread, it's supposed to be their professional blog. You would think they would fix the errors in their pregnancy story that has been up there who knows how long. They are more and more like Kate every day.

Good catch Interesting. Looks like #MyCardFromMyKids is in reality a #StockPhotoThatSheLiked.
Yeah, I think the Success *card* is a TLC promotion for the I Am campaign too. The theme of I Am is people who get teased, criticized, told they're somehow deficient, unworthy, etc. show they are bigger than their critics, have something to contribute, and are quite successful. I can't see that card as anything more meaningful to Kate than that.

It's just too good! Korean food has really taken off in the past decade.

I have to say that Kate's Mother's Day card is nothing short of bizarre.
Of all the cards I made or bought for my mother, I would never have picked something so solipsistic. What kid picks a card about how hard their mom's life is, unless that mom bitches, moans and complains all the damn time?
To me, a Mother's Day card was all about how much I loved my mother. Never an ego stroke, for the love of everything holy!
And my mother knew "hard" more than Kate will ever know.
I don't believe any of those kids picked that card out.

She's a piece of work.
You know why she's never had help with her Twitter or blog? So she alone can post her lies. I bet she wasn't even home on Mother's Day.
Anyone consider Jons post as a hint that he had the kids on Mother's Day! After all, We know Kate thinks she's sooooo overworked and exhausted so it would make sense she would prefer the kids were with Jon and she had to do nothing on Mother's Day....that would be her idea of a perfect gift. While most mothers would see spending Time WITH their kids as a happy Mother's Day, Kate would see the day WITHOUT them as the perfect gift.
Jeanne (#83), maybe Deanna or Steve take the kids
to get something for Mother's Day and TFW's birthday. But I would bet they couldn't count on either for help with Father's Day.
I think if the kids were with her she would have bragged about the day of pampering they gave her on mother's day. She may be out of town working on promotions or something.
The reason we haven't sent a mother a card like that is that, one hopes, our mothers did not burden us at the age of 11 with their struggles.
For those who have healthy relationships with their mother, you do not realize at age 11 mom is struggling because good moms don't let on to their 11 year olds they are struggling. This is something you realize as an adult, and appreciate. Case in point for me, my mother has struggled with type 1 diabetes her entire adult life. However we didn't know until our late teens she had that. We all thought she just liked to watch what she eats. She did not want to burden a child with her struggles. Thankfully treatments and self regulation equipment have really improved over the years and she's doing well now.
You know why she's never had help with her Twitter or blog? So she alone can post her lies. I bet she wasn't even home on Mother's Day.
&&&
That's a good point. Leaving twitter and social media in someone else's hands when you're trying to write the narrative is a very dangerous proposition.
Hey, maybe TFW did go to the Derby, and just kept
it on the down low. Since she's competing with
the Duggars and the Roloffs and now the Busbys
for "bestest mommy" cred (and TLC airtime), she would surely want to keep a solo trip hush-hush.

Yes, and I take no pleasure in that. In a sane family, kids should be with their mothers and grandmothers and aunts, but this is sadly not the case in Kate's world.
Im not really sure it could of been Jon's mother and brothers over since Jon said he still talks to his mother and has posted a picture on instagram to confirm he talks to his brothers. They could of been over for mother's day.On the other hand,i feel Kate would of had a picture of the 6 holding a card that said something similar to that.
It is quite possible that her new boyfriend took her away for the weekend as it was Mother's Day. In Kate's mind, she "deserves" time away from the kids so likely it was her gift to herself. (A week with the kids, a week away from the kids.)
Clearly, her narcissism is kicking in with her doubts and fears about other shows taking the attention away from her and getting "kicked around" in the TLC schedule.
She should be ashamed of how she "used" Deanna and Milo to get the message out about Jon not seeing all of his kids. And I have NO doubt that this matter went to Court. Yeah, sure, the kids told Deanna about all about Jon (sarcasm) but there is NO WAY that either Deanna and Milo would have said a word without TFW's permission. Of course, she will never admit she had a hand in this dirty work. It is very pathetic that she goes to these measures and that she still feels it is necessary to conduct herself this way.
I hope the Judge ruled that all of the kids see Jon, until she can put their best interests first.
who knows?
Tucker's Mom@88...That card from these kids (if it truly came from the kids) is not really all that bizarre. They have heard since birth how hard they make her life, she even wrote a book so she could tell the world how each individual child makes her life difficult. That's the relationship they have with their mother, they probably have no idea there is anything strange about it.

So true! I mean, what mother uses every child's birthday to tell them how horrible it was to be pregnant with them?
And then throw her pack-a-day bacon habit in their face when she claims it's so rare to treat them with it?
fade2black (#101), sadly, I think you are correct.
Remember when she discussed her typical day when the kids were smaller? Something like, cook a meal, feed a meal, clean up after the meal, clean up everything else, cook another meal, etc. Where was the joy? The wonder? The pleasure? She was so anxious for pity and donations that she happily played victim -- but inadvertently showed her true feelings about caring for so many kids. They were a burden and a chore. So much so, that she admitted she preferred to be with them for a week and then away from them for a week. How do the fans continue to see her as an amazing mother?
@JMO Im not fully convince. If jon is seeing all 8 of them, then why aren't we seeing Collin and Alexis in any of the pictures where it shows only 4 of them?I want to give Mady and Cara a pass cause Kate rarely posts a picture of them.I do agree about the whole Deanna thing that had to of told her about the presents because why Deanna would be at the G8 house on Christmas and not with her own family would be odd and i doubt she would of asked them what their father gave them.
I think she's away, maybe filming ? I was watching Intervention last night and thought hmm maybe she's in rehab
-------------
I think she is away somewhere feeling sorry for herself after "DeannaGate" as well as falling to bench warmer for TLC.
No way did the kids give her that card... or she would have shown their signatures on the card, as she has done in the past. Pretty pathetic if you think about it. Someone is off having a pity party with Stevo or her televised date...
Don't you think it funny the card is not signed? Absolutely she got that card off the internet and she's been found out. Cleverly, she implied the card was given to her by the kids with that hashtag without really saying the kids gave it to her. She's missed Mother's Day before, so nothing new there. She just wanted to pop in with a shout out to the "I Am" campaign and make it seem like her kids think she is the bravest mom ever with all her "struggles". It's a lock she took off out of town for some "me" time away from her kids. Although I don't understand why Jon felt the need to respond with that photo, it's clear to me it was a jab at her lie.
Things are just get more and more minimal with Kate- was it last year they had a card the tups were all holding; the year before all their personal handmade cards; the Mother's Day brunch they prepared...I think she can't force them unless they are filming to show the 'affection' they once did under her eagle eye.
I don't think Kate went to the Derby this year. The Derby is a place to see and be seen. When TLC was footing the bill and putting her in a parade and walking on the red carpet she ate it up. When she went on her own and didn't get into the exclusive seats all she could muster was a sad, pathetic picture of just her in her hat. I don't think she's been back since.

There were six big styrofoam cartons so that spread, IMO, was for six. Kind of a dumb thing to post but I guess there was a point to it. He could have had some of the kids with her permission.
==========
I highly doubt that any of the kids were with Jon yesterday. Don't forget--his girlfriend has a teenage son and teenage daughter. They most likely were celebrating her Mother's Day with her kids.
Yeah, sure, the kids told Deanna about all about Jon (sarcasm) but there is NO WAY that either Deanna and Milo would have said a word without TFW's permission. Of course, she will never admit she had a hand in this dirty work.
-----------------
I really doubt that Milo would have needed Kate's permission to say or do anything. Milo just hopped on the bandwagon, going along with Deanna and "supporting" her Kate. There would be no permission slip given to her by Kate.
.I think she can't force them unless they are filming to show the 'affection' they once did under her eagle eye.
&&&
It's unlikely most kids could satisfy the emotional demands from her. I'm sure she wants breakfast in bed, eight separate cards proclaiming her attributes, and a full day of pampering plus coupons for future pampering.
These kids are teens and pre-teens. You're lucky at that age they even remember mother's day. That's where a father, friends or family come in to gently remind the kids hey, let's make mom a card or get her something. But they're probably not going to dream up something all that ellaborate on their own. Once the cards and possible gift exchange are done, the kids are going to be straight back to texting friends watching ipads and wanting to hang out with friends. They are normal kids and it's all about that when they're that age.
It goes back to Kate living a fantasy, as I've said in recaps before. She has this fantasy of home life and eight shining faces gathered around her on Mother's Day, and that's just not real life. And the problem is when you push kids into being something they are not or to behave in a way that's not common for their ages, most resist.

TLC
What's working: Top show "19 Kids and Counting" is gone, but TLC still has plenty of proven unscripted hits including "Sister Wives," "The Little Couple," "90-Day Fiance," "Return to Amish" and "Long Island Medium." Among recent additions, "Long Lost Family" has been a hit for the network.
What's not: "Dare to Wear," "Suddenly Royal" and "Coach Charming" are among the under-performers for the network. "Cake Boss" has faded but will be back for an eighth season.
What's ahead: TLC, which has had to endure the cancellation of two popular reality franchises ("Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" and "19 Kids and Counting"), is introducing two new families in "Outdaughtered" (the Busby family of all-female quintuplets) and "Meet the Putnams" (with 25 family members living under one roof). It's also hopping aboard the scripted-series train with Tyler Perry drama "Too Close to Home," about a young woman who finds herself at the center of a political scandal in D.C. that forces her back home.
Ratings: After falling nearly 15% in 2015, TLC slid by about the same amount in key demos for the first quarter of the year. It ranked No. 24 among cable network in adults 18-49 and No. 19 in adults 25-54.

I wonder if Kate Plus 8 is working for TLC. Not even a mention.
Tucker's, I read it as a synopsis so no surprise Kate + 8 was not mentioned. She's not a ratings blockbuster nor a stinker show. As long as she pulls in one million, TLC will keep her as filler. The true sign she is gone would be her disappearing from TLC's web page, but unfortunately she's still there although not on the schedule. It must stunning to her that her demands are shrugged off. She could easily drop off the network at this point and nobody would care. She better hope she still pulls in her one million in 2016. As you read, TLC numbers are down and stale shows like hers are not going to help bring in new viewers. The Busbys are a real threat to her.
BTW, TLC has been filming the Busbys even while Danielle was pregnant. The babies were born April 2015. TLC has got seasons already done.

Counting On." A new report revealed that another big advertiser bailed from the TLC show. To make matters worse, the ratings, which is reportedly the only factor keeping TLC from canceling the "19 Kids and Counting" spinoff, are going downhill.
&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&
I read another article which said that despite the issues with advertisers dropping out, it is believed the show would be renewed for a second season.
Blowing In The Wind (110): "I really doubt that Milo would have needed Kate's permission to say or do anything. Milo just hopped on the bandwagon, going along with Deanna and "supporting" her Kate. There would be no permission slip given to her by Kate."
))))))
I agree. Deanna and Kate may be in cahoots about what Deanna tweets, with Kate egging her on, but Milo, not so much. She would just parrot Deanna. She's a hanger-on type of person.
I'm just wondering where Milo is able to find her petite slacks since Kate stopped scouring the internet for her. Is poor Gladys running around nekkid as a jaybird without Kate's assistance?
Bindi made an appearance on DWTS tonight. I guess when you are nice, people see your worth and invite you back. She did a lead in to a commercial for Tom.
Been a while since I posted but I'm wondering why posts are left up so long these days ... used to be we'do get a new post each week or so.
Guess the kart has truly become boring and irrelevant...
Foxy (#122), yes, yet another squandered opportunity for TFW. She could have been the lousiest dancer on the planet, but if she'd had
a positive attitude and exhibited any kindness and/or a good work ethic, I'm sure she could have, as they say, won friends and influenced people.
But it was just another gig she breezed through, and she was quickly forgotten -- except for the occasional mention on "Worst Contestant" lists.
@TLC stinks I think like admin said, her rating are more "inconsistent"then anything.I remember even tabloid articles like radar was even wondering if Kate was going to get cancelled and they called it a ratings flop.Im certain viewer wise, nothing has changed but if it did,i don't see Kate gaining any viewers even if TLC thinks this I AM is going to help her. http://radaronline.com/celebrity-news/kate-plus-8-season-premiere-ratings-drop/

You know in some ways it's almost sweeter to watch her limp along as TLC's third and fourth choice in the lineup while she has to sit there and watch a bunch of little people, another set of even less interesting but younger and cuter multiples, and people who let their son MOLEST their own children, get top billing. And she has to sit there and wait for her scraps and then pretend on twitter she's thrilled. LOL!
But for the kids having to work, this is actually hilarious.
What a rude and nasty comment. Why do consider it a slap in the face to take second billing to a little person? That seems to speak to your own bigotry.
&&&&
Huh??????? I think you're totally misunderstanding my comment. It's hilarious to see her second string to anyone, little, medium and tall sized people alike. I'm not the least bit bigoted against anyone much less people who are shorter because of a genetic abnormality they absolutely cannot help. I consider that as absurd as hating someone because they were born a boy but are really a girl. I'm still laughing my ass off that she is forced to watch all these other families be treated better.

Don't forget Kate expects that kind of treatment every.damn.day. How many times a month are they reminded how long she carried them or how long her bedrest was and what a great mom she is? She tries for Mother's Day everyday ruining the specialness of it.

*******
Tiresome.
Off base, too.
Yawn.
Oh I agree her glory days as TLC's number one show are long over. I have to wonder if somebody at Discovery feels loyalty to her to continue airing the show of a one time ratings blockbuster. She has failed to reignite the viewership of the past, so why continue down this path of revisiting story lines season after season? I believe her dating Jeff (and getting him to commit to appearing) and the blind date episode were an attempt to save the show, so don't be surprised if another man is introduced. TLC has probably demanded that she, as producer, better come up with new, inventive storylines. I don't think she's capable. The show has to be about her and she does not connect with the audience in most cases (except for die hard fans). Using her kids as a foil hasn't worked either.
I cannot figure out her role in the "I Am" campaign unless it's about bullying. The problem is; she's a bully herself. She is bully whose goal is to disempower, manipulate, and control. If she claims that she is bullied, she is feigning being a victim. This is nothing more than turning attention onto herself and seeking sympathy. I do not understand how anyone who has read her journal and watched her eviserate Jon have any sympathy if she plays the victim card. I don't think Bullyville will be there this time for her, LOL.

As she said about the Duggars, "yeehaw!".

I'm not surprised TLC is still filming the kids, just surprised that TLC is filming so much. An update now and then would make sense, but simply filming that same old stuff over and over really does perplex me.
Does no one have any interest whatsoever in the Hayes family? Why not even one special to catch up with them?
Tucker's Mom (#131), yeah, TFW thinks she's
all that and a bag of those orange triangular thingies she claimed her children had never
seen before.
Remember when she openly mocked that friendly train conductor
at the Thomas museum, who was trying to share stories? And admitted when the dog breeder
was talking to her, that all she heard was
"blah blah blah?" That's more than just
arrogance – it's downright unkind.
I think "Outdaughtered" is going to get big numbers tonight. And I think TFW is going
to be seething.
TLC stinks (#130), I think TFW's producer title
is just a vanity credit. Her agent probably negotiated it for her, and it pays her something extra, but I don't think it means much beyond that. Heck, she doesn't even know when the darn thing is going to air. I don't think an actual producer would be kept in the dark about that.
Not remotely off base. Imagine if Kate said, "I can't believe I'm playing second fiddle to a bunch of little people." There would be outrage, and rightly so. This comment was no different.
$$$
Oh for goodness sake. That was the whole point of the comment. How Kate sees it!! Are you being serious? Stick your shocked and appalled somewhere else.

I believe Kate sits down with production to plan out all the episodes of the season. The ideas are a combination of product placement and marketing, free stuff, home improvements for Kate, and traveling for Kate and the kids.
In Robert's book, it read like a veritable bucket list.
Here's hoping Jon gets to celebrate their 12th birthday with all 6 of them.

This poster really should read Kate's "Mommy Journal". Other people are just little gnats fling around her head.
Teachers treated with disrespect. Doctors and nurses are just stupid, back woods Pennsyltucky hicks, dog breeder can't teach someone whose never owned a dog a darned thing, the Duggars are "yeehaw" (well, I can't disagree with that).
Let's not forget those truly bothersome fans whose homemade gifts and cards are tossed in the garbage without a thank-you.
If you don't get that Admin's comments were a reflection of how Kate views others, then you should just keep your fingers still.
I do not believe the title of producer was given to her as a vanity credit. Sure, she negotiated the title but also has the responsibility it entails. Instead of taking advantage of an opportunity to be a good producer, she has made sure she gets an inordinate amount of couch time focused on her; the show reruns old story lines and that is typical of Miss Lack of Imagination; and she hasn't been complaining about editing making her look bad so that tells you something. The show has Kate's French tipped finger prints all over it.

..or maybe the birthday was/will be filmed and TLC prohibits showing anything related to it? Just a guess. I wish the six a good year and hope things are ok with them. They are growing up and I bet Kate ain't likin' it.
Only 47 retweets for her happy birthday wish. She's not there, otherwise there would be a picture of a cake. That's her MO. Local, you have named the three possibilities. I really hope the kids, at 12, do not want to have their pictures taken like they are in elementary school, but I still think she's gone.

------------------
I, too, have wondered about this. But I don't think it's loyalty per se. It may well be guilt. I don't know what they expected to happen when they dropped her so precipitously in 2011, but I think they thought she'd be able to really do something with the fame and riches they'd bestowed on her. Instead, she was hit-or-miss, with her only really "steady" gig publicly firing her after a year (and basically calling her a fraud) and her cookbook tanking right out of the gate. TLC probably also had an inside track (Steve, and probably others) on what was going on with the kids. I bet the children's lives were miserable when the show stopped. Having exploited this family to the point where the parents actually divorced and the father doesn't even see all of his kids, TLC may have considered how poorly that might reflect on them.
I'm not saying they decided to ignore the bottom line, just that in the midst of overall declining ratings for their shows, and Kate's probable willingness to give them bargain-basement rates in the face of no other offers, they didn't have a lot to lose on bringing back this mediocre fare. They have an experienced "cast," a set that's already been fitted out with the lighting and other things needed for production, and kids who are likely more amenable to doing this in order to get Mom out of her depression and off their cases. The show gets acceptable (for TLC) ratings on a slimmer budget, and those who work on it don't have to go home at night wondering what fresh hell those kids might be enduring. TLC is surely well aware they created a monster and perhaps believes they have some ongoing responsibility for that.
@Jane Now that you mention it,there's a card at the bottom left so its possible Collin is there as well."Fingers crossed"
That's so flipping sad that the one still isn't going 😡
Actually it does look like there are 6 cards the one chair you can't see if there is a present or not
I think TLC is filming the tups birthday again which would explain the lack of a picture in her tweet. She likes to tease her fans and not give them any information other than what they have to get by watching her show on TLC. For some reason she thinks that is better than actively promoting her show. Typical narcissist, she wants the fans to do all the work while she basks in the glory.

Confused, thanks. I looked at one picture yesterday and thought I had seen those first chairs before - like at the Estate. Then today I saw the other one and just saw the totally different chairs. I didn't even look at the floor. I was thinking they might be different houses. Again, thanks. :)

I agree, the women have 100% chemistry. I am less convinced with the men.
There are very entertaining TV choices out there. That is why the "stale" of TLC is dropping in audience numbers. Viewers are just more selective.

Tucker's Mom (#175), it's like the fans are asking about a penguin exhibit. Tell 'em when they can turn on their TV and watch your children frolic
and play.
And again, we're not talking about kids who pursued acting or performing as a career aspiration. The G kids were thrust into the spotlight without their permission.
@KIAT If Kate uploads a picture of the 6 there then why would Jon lie about having the 6 with him?I doubt he would be stupid enough to do that if he knew he didn't have them.Would
The nanny could have decorated that table. Yeah, I bet Kate is just slaving away baking, LOL.

Getting ready 4 the 12th BIRTHDAY BASH..Cooking, baking,decorating for 6 of the 1's I L❤️VE! #HappyBirthdayMyBabies
Earth to Kate. They haven't been babies for a long time.
I think those chair covers are little childish for 12 yr olds. (others may not think so though.)
"Grace and Frankie" is a terrific show! Thanks for the Netflix reminder.
Dueling birthday tables. Now I've seen everything.

The culture that filming kids for reality tv breeds, especially when their every milestone is broadcast to the world Truman-style, is one of such presumption and entitlement.
I don't think filming kids created the culture. I think it's more like the "entertain me now-it doesn't even have to be good" culture came first (many are entertained by the mere sounds and movement coming from the boob tube) and cable with the hundreds of choices came second and crap cable like "reality" TV came third.

Jon did lie. Where was the lie? He posted a photo. It could have been taken over the weekend or last night.
The show has Kate's French tipped finger prints all over it.
&&&&
The show has filler, phone it in low budget written all over it.
Kate is in no way equipped to take on the real duties of a producer. She may pitch a few ideas, but that's nothing she wouldn't be doing without the title. I don't believe for a cotton pickin' second she has the foggiest idea about budgets, story, continuity, unions, schedule, interfacing with the network, and all the other many hats of a producer. It is a vanity title, I'd bet the farm on it.

HAPPIEST OF BIRTHDAYS 2 my 6! A 12yr journey of love&learning & I wouldn't have it any other way! Thx4making my life 6 Xs better! #12 ❤️🎂❤️

She did manage to get 2 "my"s and 1 "I" in that short tweet. I am going to call her "FillerKate" as I am sure she would hate that. BenchWarmer is fair too.
You've also called the programs featuring little people and others who differ from the norm a TLC freak show. Again, that speaks to your own perceptions. They are not being portrayed as freaks, you perceive them to be freaks.
Claiming that you are not a bigot doesn't make it so.
&&&&
Claiming I am one doesn't make it so either.
You can go on and on but you cannot dictate the state of someone's heart. You are deliberately pushing square comments into round holes in an effort to fit your "bigot" agenda. The "freak show" comments have come from numerous people, and it's a reference to the way TLC has gathered folks who traditioanlyl would have been found in old fashioned freak shows, slapping "educational" on them and calling it a show.
The point of those comments is to call out TLC. B.S., they have no real motiviation to educate, I don't believe they do. They want to dress up TRADITIONAL freak shows and make money off it, no better than any circus act of yesteryear. In fact, worse, because they won't own it and admit they're just looking for anomolies to broadcast to the masses to make money.
Such comments are in no way an endorsement of "freak shows" or an endorsement of anyone being labeled as a freak. I find the idea of a freak show much less a child participating in one so horrifying it makes the pit of my stomach hurt, but that is not the point.
I happen to think what they are doing to the Gosselins is very similar to what was done to the Dionnes and THEIR freak shows. One occured in a theme park, the other occurs on our televisions. I find little to no difference. Obviously, accusing me of calling the Gosselin kids freaks is absurd.
LOL, dueling birthday tables!
She's such a child.
They may be sharing the day today, which would be great. Children should see both parents they love on their birthday.
I noticed Kate's "I" was all about how they have made her me, me, me life so awesome. At least when it comes to her bank account they sure have.
Jon's "I", was simply about how much he loves them.
She may pitch a few ideas,
************
Which is just her "I want/bucket list" I want free trips to beaches. I want to go free shopping. I want to go to the Disney, Derby, Australia, Austria, Korea, Mexico,England, France etc free. I want free clothes and suitcases to use on those trips. I want huge free gifts for the kids' birthdays. I want free access to fun kid places while they are closed to public. I want a paycheck while you film all those free "I wants"
She makes me sick. I really hope to heck she isn't hooked up with Vann to get more free stuff out of his $$. If so he is business smart but not woman/grifter smart.

(((
Exactly! Or, if you were like us, we BOTH celebrated our child's birthday TOGETHER.
My best guess. Jon had some of the kids this weekend. Kate is having a relatively small party on the kids actual birthday (today). TLC is going to have a bigger party they are going to film at a later date and pass it off as the official birthday party. We'll see if this weekend or next someone sees the kids filming at a water park or some other entertainment venue.
People like Kate treat their kids as other than normal, and offer them up to entertain the masses who want to peek behind the curtain and see.
Please, Kate (and Jon) pushed to get their HOM's on tv for the very reason that that are an oddity in that they are rare.
The kids are not freaks, but the parents sure as hell are carnival barkers.
"Jon did lie."
Should be Jon didn't lie.

I agree. They also seemed a little lazy to me. No balloons, gifts, cards, or table settings visible, put open a package of large colorful chair covers, and voila, instant party.
As part of party decor, OK, but as "instant party", I see a fail.
