Coming up on Kate Plus 8, school shopping for clothes, backpacks, and Kate gets distracted by something shiny and starts buying things for herself. This is a literal repeat of at least a couple other back-to-school boring episodes, including Kate buying much more for herself than for the kids. No one in production is even trying to do something original, and why would they when phoning it in is enough? Kate doesn't believe in being fair because that wastes money. She should write a blog post on saving money by not being fair, Dave Ramsey would be proud.
It's always about Kate, Cara explains, who is old enough to be on to her mother but not old enough to realize when she should probably shush, which is my favorite age.
Kate is more orange than usual today in her couch interviews--I would say it's "Trump orange," which is a color I better patent soon before someone else steals it. But in the footage of her packing up the van her hue is back to normal, which is more eggshell white. Hannah gets stress headaches, Kate says as she discloses what should be confidential medical information. At 11 she's stressed? What on earth is she stressed about? Kate packs her into the van with a blanket.
Is that a booster seat? Wtf? I understand the carseat guidelines have shifted to include much older children now (in Pennsylvania, the law is booster seat up until age 7), but these kids are all way too old for that now. Most seat belts will fit children 4'9 and up comfortably and safely. None of these children are that short anymore. Give it up, Kate, they are not toddlers and haven't been for a long time.
It looks horrendous carting a sick child to the mall, I know, Kate says. Correct, it does. So why do it? A set teacher certainly wouldn't permit this or risk losing their license. Kate did the same to one of the boys not too long ago. They have a full time nanny, why can't Hannah stay behind with her? Kate explains this is just a Hannah thing and she'll get over it in a few hours.
There's Shoka again, a mere inches from the moving tires of a several-ton vehicle. Grr!!!
Dowdy Deanna just happened to be visiting and takes the twins off separately at the mall. Why couldn't Deanna stay home with Hannah, and make the twins suck it up and go with Kate and the rest of their siblings? Why do I hurt my brain wondering these things?
The boys say they don't like shopping other than for toys. By the looks of them they don't much enjoy endless couch interviews either as Aaden tosses his head back and lets out a huge yawn.
You know something that I didn't notice much in the past but is really starting to irritate me? How funny-cute Kate thinks she is. She tries to make these little self-depricating jokes and they're just annoying, not funny. "I get distracted by things I want to buy .... maybe I even acted like a person who had never been to a mall before. Did I remind you of someone like that? " She smiles like a goon.
Typically, no one cares what was done in year's past or why or how they need what they need, who likes what or doesn't, and all the whining and begging that ensues.
Joel says they don't want the same backpacks because that makes them look younger. Exactly!! Of course the kids don't want to dress alike or have the same things, contrary to the sheeple claiming maybe they like that. Of course they don't like that, no 11-year-old likes looking like a baby. The only nice thing about the fact that these kids a decade later are still working is that they are validating pretty much everything we predicted about how they likely feel.
I enjoy watching Kate try to reason with a pre-teen. It's one of the few tolerable things left of this God forsaken reality show.
The kids want her to buy them water bottles but Kate passes on that, initially anyway. She says bottles get dirty and disgusting and they leave water in them and she ends up being the one always cleaning them out. I can't disagree there, reusable water bottles are a great idea in your perfect green fantasy but rarely work out in reality. I have a Contiga cup which is an incredible invention, when I get around to cleaning out last month's English breakfast tea.
Half a minute later Kate's buying them water bottles. She is either the biggest pushover in the world or is just trying to be on her best behavior for the cameras. Much like how she parents in general, she only seems to understand the tangible aspect of raising kids, the stuff, the things. She doesn't understand good parenting is not that you bought kids water bottles because they really wanted them, but rather good parenting is making sure your sick child stays home with someone they trust instead of being dragged along on this trip, or better yet shop on another day. Hannah says shopping stresses her mom out. I wonder if that's why Hannah in turn gets stressed out.
Kate selects some tupperware and admits 90% of her shopping is done online. I was just going to say why don't they buy all this crap online like normal people? Does anyone even go to malls anymore? Malls are closing across the country at an alarming rate because people just don't go anymore. You can get better deals online usually anyway, and almost all stores now have a liberal return policy with free shipping no questions asked. You save stress, time, and gas and can try things on in the comfort of your own home. I'm guessing the other 10% of Kate's big box store shopping occurs solely because of the cameras.
During an excruciatingly boring conversation about gym clothes I can hear one of the kids politely saying "excuse me, Mommy," trying to get her attention. She is ignored of course. It makes sense now why these kids shout, scream and stomp around so much. Being quiet and polite gets you nowhere.
We're moving "owwn" to the next thing which is I guess clothes. This could easily have been the same footage from the premiere episode of this season, School's Out! where they went to the department store to buy luggage. It's that similar. Kate's helping Leah pick out some dresses and Alexis wants something too. Naturally Kate's comment about how shopping isn't always going to be fair was about Alexis, the least girlie of the girls. Figures. I'm not sure I even agree with Kate about how it can't be fair. It seems like this can easily be made fair. Give the kids each $50, $75 or whatever your budget is and have them pick out what they want with your approval. They're old enough to handle the money and pick out their clothes and that makes it perfectly fair. That noggin of hers sure thinks funny.
This is rather interesting, I assumed the twins didn't want to shop with the younger kids because they seem to hate sharing the same planet as them, but Mady reveals that actually she doesn't understand why she didn't shop with the other kids since she needs clothes too, and that she "wasn't allowed." Wasn't allowed by whom? Production? Conversely, Kate claims the twins didn't want to shop with the younger kids. I immediately assume Kate's lying and Mady's telling the truth. So was separating them out done to have two separate shopping segments and stretch this out? Hmm!!
Anywho, the twins are with Deanna and picking out stuff and it's all absolutely uneventful and boring. Kate buys their boring stuff and then does that sarcastic "thank you, Mommy," thing that some annoying parents say to their kids when their kids forget to say thank you. In defense of Mady, Kate started it, and Mady explains that she was going to say thank you, was in fact about to say it. I'm going to give Mady the benefit of the doubt on this. They had just bought the shoes, at least give the child until the car ride home to thank her.
This sets Mady off on a snide little tirade, accusing Kate of treating her like a brat. "Thank you, but you can say it to yourself," she snaps, whatever that means. She is I would guess about six months away from saying, "Thank you, but you should be thanking us because that's our money you're buying it with." Just ask the former child actor Missy Francis how old she was when she realized the same about her mother and started embezzling her own money to herself just to be sure she'd see any of it by the time she was 18.
Mady can be trying, she's mean to her siblings and I think the way Kate allows her to speak to her is completely unacceptable, but I also understand what Mady's saying here, and that is that Kate is unreasonable, disrespectful and patronizing to her, yet expects perfect respect back. It's a set-up, it's unfair and certainly very obnoxious.
All Kate can do is sigh and ignore her at this point, and I think she's wise to shut up and just let Mady say her peace. Kate won't take any of it to heart though, which is a pity. A little give and take with this dysfunctional relationship might do wonders.
It's a good thing we're not playing a drinking game this afternoon because I'd be soused to the gills. I just heard two typicallys and an "in general." Kate basically admits she's bribing the kids with pretzels. To buy shoes, or really just to stick around and film? I sense the latter. Mmm, I love mall pretzels. And mall cinnamon buns. That's all I miss about malls now that I don't go anymore like most people. Speaking of which, some of the finest television "short films" were made in a Cinnabon in Omaha. Watch Better Call Saul, the best show on television this year, and you'll understand.
I love the way Lancaster is pronounced in Pennsylvania: Lane-kes-ter. That is the correct way if I may say so. We have a Lancaster here, a medium-sized city in L.A. County but pronounced Lan-caster, and to go with its inferior pronunciation it's a desert with lots of snakes and varmints and not enough gas stations to run your tank down to almost empty and be fine.
How ironic, Kate has wonderful fond memories of her grandparents taking her to the mall. Grandpa gave them each $5 to spend. Sounds like even ole Gramps understands how to make shopping "fair."
The store didn't have a good selection of shoes, didn't have their sizes or the styles they want, and it doesn't look like they ended up buying anything. Remember those days? Now we have the inter-webs, where I promise you can find your size and style somewhere in that vast wonderland even if you might have to resort to ebay. Kate says for the second time how much she hates all this. Well, she makes it harder on herself. All this could be accomplished with a few clicks and a credit card that's already automatically entered by the little green men at Google.
The little people are swimming again, which I realize now was a good excuse for production to try out their underwater camera rigs. They don't come cheap.
We're back with a completely unrelated subplot storyline to plot A, about how they're going to refurbish their picnic table. Kate and the younger kids head to the hardware store. The twins complain that they were not told they were going to the hardware store, they just woke up and they were gone. Sheesh, I hope schmoopy at least left them a note! Assuming it's true, that the twins weren't informed of this outing, this is what I mean by Kate not respecting them. You can't be as rude and inconsiderate as she apparently is to them, then expect respect back. It's a two-way street.
Kate admits she doesn't "typically" take them to do errands like this, but the cameras are here so .... well, she really claims she took them them because this is going to be a whole-family project, but the truth is the kids are just in her way and she's not making any effort to include them in this shopping trip, and this is really about the cameras.
Mady and Cara couldn't be more unenthused about helping to sand the table. They're insufferable but understandable.
Kate pulls out a power sander and makes a whole big deal about operating this machinery. This happened before too, just a couple episodes ago when she worked with a chain saw. I hate women who think its funny and cute when they tackle traditionally male jobs and act all damsel in distress about it. At one time this show recycled plot ideas from a season or two ago, now it's just an episode or two ago. It's like a blond bimbo high-pitched awful version of Groundhog Day, a movie I hate in the first place. Ha, Kate's awful at sanding, it runs every which way taking the scenic route down the table. Either that or she's really playing up the woman fumbling around with power tools gag. Amy Schumer she is not.
Of course most of the kids start to gradually wander away, bored, now that Kate is power sanding and not including them or even letting them try it. What does she expect?
Just an observation now that yet another too long and boring segment is over, but why didn't they pull out the power sander sooner? Why did they all sit there with sandpaper blocks and slave away for who knows how long when Kate had a power sander right there all along that could have done the entire job in 10 minutes?
This is a rhetorical questions I suppose, and the answer to most of my rhetorical questions is usually, because it was being filmed. It makes no sense to do things quickly and efficiently when you're being filmed, then you'd never be able to find enough footage to fill up 60 minutes of this drivel every week. You can only roll your eyes I guess. The kids are half onto all this and will be all the way there soon.

Commercials, and when we get back they're still sanding that god damned picnic table! I feel like I'm in sandpaper purgatory and can't get out. A somewhat new thing they are doing during the kids' couch interviews is have them say the same thing at the same time. It's Children of the Corn creepy.
Amy Schumer here is working with an air compressor now, acting all inept again. Blow me.
Kate's glad the full-time nanny Andrea happened to be there since for some reason Andrea knows about how to stain picnic tables. Why wouldn't Andrea be there? She is their full-time nanny. The kids trickle back in now, interested in painting. Instead of whining about it, maybe Kate should just appreciate what they are willing to help with, little as it is. Finally after two long segments the table is finished, it looks great and the kids are mildly proud of their efforts. It really is amazing what a little sanding and staining can do. That's what she said.
Commercials, this time the promo is about people who are 600 pounds and a network that still pretends watching people pull their rolls of fat out from their pants and roll it around has educational value.
We're back with the third subplot in this episode that's actually related to the school shopping this time, final preparations for their first day of school. Mady makes an interesting comment that it's not cool to be entering high school, though she likes they don't have to wear uniforms anymore. I have never in all my life met a kid who wasn't thrilled to finally be going to high school with the big kids, even if there were a little first day nerves about it. It's just a strange comment. The twins are going shopping for clothes again? The first trip wasn't enough?
They're at one of those small boutique clothing shops that most women can't afford to shop at until at least a decade after college is over and several salaried paychecks later. In typical Mady and Cara fashion the twins are ungrateful, disagreeable and unhelpful to the very nice salesperson helping them who apparently cleared the store out for them. Kate defends their rude and unacceptable behavior by saying she was just like that as a teen. Well, then they get it from her.
Kate can't help herself and goes after all the shiny stuff, grabbing up dresses and blouses and handbags like it's a pop-up swag tent. The twins knew that would happen, heh.
Kate's still defending Mady who is making snide comments by saying it was actually a round-about way for Mady to say Kate looked nice. Lol! Kate, "oh my gosh you look like a human" is not a nice comment no matter how you twist and turn yourself around to make it one. She is the worst, no wonder these twins are the way they are. The music during this segment was pulled from stock 17th century harpsichords, which is random.

Up next, they're going to another boutique??? I really am in shock how much is being repeated and recycled in this episode, and the sheer greed I'm witnessing.
At last the final segment. What's the point in clearing out an expensive boutique for ungrateful teenagers if they don't like anything? Cara is actually arguing with Kate that she has enough summer clothes, she doesn't want anymore, and Mady doesn't seem to want anything at this place. Why in the world is Kate pushing them into buying summer clothes on a back-to-school trip in the Northeast when 95% of your school year will be spent in winter clothes?
Kate complains they're in a phase where they have very narrow likes and don't want to branch out. So? That's normal. At that age I think I had one or two sweaters and a pair of jeans I wore to death, as long as they are washed regularly it's not hurting anything. What does Kate care? Just get them what they like, online, and be done with it. She really picks a lot of fights she doesn't need to.
Mady gives Kate one too many "it's all about you" comments and Kate finally loses her shit, haha. Love it.
A third store???? This is truly agonizing. Just take my word for it absolutely nothing interesting happened here. Kate suggests she and Mady get these completely ugly sweater pants and share them, "share custody of them" she says. Oh yeah cause Kate's so great at sharing custody of anything. Mady, you'll never see those sweater pants again except maybe for a Tuesday night dinner once in awhile but that's it.
It's finally over, and next time we pick out more clothes but at least it's for Kate's fake-date, and her rather cute (!) suitor, nice selection from all those head shots, production! Baw-hahhaa, the side hug and turned cheek at the end of the date. Shade! Cannot wait.
Little people playing with bubbles, and we're out.

«Oldest ‹Older 1601 – 1800 of 2128 Newer› Newest»Tucker's Mom (#200), that was a great quote you found from the Times article. Not only are there children born with a multitude of difficulties, but what about the toll that takes on not only
the parents but the siblings? We're not talking about something like a few of the G kids' respiratory issues (which seem to have abated after breathing treatments), but chronic and serious problems that can drain a family emotionally as well as financially.
There are pros and cons to going forward with HOM. Neither decision comes with guarantees. I just want people who choose to keep all the babies to not be self-righteous about it, and respect that not everyone will make that decision. They also need to cut the crap with the implication that "God" has blessed them more than most just because they got lucky. Those who choose a different path should also respect those who went for it.
Supporting a parent's choice means you respect WHATEVER that choice is, whether it's keeping all the babies or reducing. I hear a lot of judgement coming from those who don't reduce, and no judgement from the other side other than sincere concern about the biased information being put out there to the public.
Yes, I follow a HOM mom's blog. She had sextuplets, but only two survived and they are severely handicapped. When the babies were new, it was so sad: daily, there was a new problem or even death among these babies. The family also has a girl with no health issues and a baby boy with spina bifida. They are Mormons.

What money did they have without the show? I thought they were struggling financially, pre-TLC, so there wouldn't have been much for a 50/50 split.
I thought they inherited $100,000 from Jon's dad. That was money Kate allegedly said they should not have to spend on the sextuplets, instead PA needed to pay for Angie, the nurse. This, iirc, is what set off the anger of her fellow PAians

Is that medical terminology? It sounds rather weighty! Is it debilitating, and is there a cure or does it subside on its own?

If I hear a really horrible grammar error on a television show or commercial, I will correct the offenders. I just did it to Zak on Ghost Adventures. He just doesn't understand "me and I" usage. Blame it on the spirits.
I do not, however, correct another person's grammar when face to face.
Does that mean I have this dreaded GPS? Is it communicable? I'm confused.

lol! I'm also confused. To be diagnosed with this syndrome, does one need to verbally correct the grammar error, or is it similar to what is written in the Bible, and just thinking about the person's grammar mistake means that you have the syndrome?

I don't remember a specific amount J&K inherited, but I thought whatever it was was put toward the purchase of their house. The PA citizens were upset because Kate appealed to the state to continue using Angie past the 1 year when there was no medical reason to do so - basically she was using her as a babysitter or aide. Inheritance or not, rich or poor, all HOM were entitled to the services of a nurse for a year.

================
Did Kate or Jon (or both) say that? I thought it was an unconfirmed rumor floating around, and I don't recall it being that much. I remember hearing that his dad bought them a house, or contributed financially toward it, but I am not sure that was confirmed, and it could have been speculation. Was it reported in Robert's book?
All I remember - perhaps wrongly - that Kate was mad because of the suggestion that they use the (sizeable) inheritance from Dr. G's estate for Nurse Angie (Krall??) to stay on. The number $100,000 was the amount tossed around. When all the furor went up about the Gosselin's request for an additional year with Angie, Kate said she did not understand why they should have to use their own investment money for something the state "owed" them because modern science had made HOMs possible.
I don't remember what happened with the Jones' quints show. I do recall I disliked the way the father bragged so much. I know that mom got her tummy tuck and they got a new house and many freebies. They also had an older
They actually downsized after the babies were about 1. He worked as a contractor and had built his custom home before the quints but they could not keep up with the payments. They keep up with a blog but not to the extent of the Busby's. Their FB is pretty normal. So their is life after TLC for some families. I think the quints finished first grade and TLC did an update for their 5th birthday.

I often wonder in this day of infertility options, how many twins we see in everyday life resulted from a reeducation. I think the faithful Christian's who believe every life starts as conception can't pick and choose when to not believe that. Even if it is against doctor's orders. That isn't how believing in something works. So I think the faithful one's who lose their babies or have one born with a disability take that as God's will too.
There are pros and cons to going forward with HOM. Neither decision comes with guarantees. I just want people who choose to keep all the babies to not be self-righteous about it, and respect that not everyone will make that decision. But that is what they believe. They believe that God saw them through this. I don't think you can tell them not to have their faith because that is how YOU see it. I very much believe that the Busby's faith saw them through this. This is how faith works. It isn't cafeteria faith.

Ah, but how do you or anyone else know that this is what they truly believe to have gotten them through this (whatever that is)? There are scammers out there who will use whatever tool, in this case their trust in God, to convince others that their faith is strong. It's really difficult to know what is true and what is actually a ruse. Some people are very convincing and know that there are gullible folks out there that will believe whatever is put out there, all in the name of religion. Just because they say so doesn't make it so. Look at Kate and what happened with her basket-passing cries for love offerings.
Blowing (#15), your comment reminded me of when
TFW and Jon shared in one episode that the t
up girls' middle names were the fruits of the spirit. Fast forward a few years, and the only Christmas and Easter mention from TFW is about wrapping paper, endless shopping, and Mrs. Bunny.
"Some people are very convincing and know that there are gullible folks out there that will believe whatever is put out there, all in the name of religion. Just because they say so doesn't make it so."
And what are we to do about that? Is it up to us to try and keep them off TV and social media, stop them from forming phony church that's merely a scam? How?

They were close. Faith and Joy are fruits of the Spirit, but Hope is not mentioned. Gal. 5:22
Unless they consider Hebrews 11:1, Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things unseen. Faith = Hope

For starters, we can stop putting money in those donations baskets when speakers (or preachers) or televangelists or whomever use the poor card to get our sympathy and play on our emotions with the fake croc tears. I'm willing to bet that if, at the end of the day, those love offerings dwindle and that basket comes back empty, they might think twice about passing the bucket in the future.
Then again they'll probably move on to another scam. Kate always had something up her sleeve.

What is with that picture? Shoudn't the food be, like, on the plate? Or am I just being an old-fashioned pearl-clutcher, and it's the new fashion to slop the food off the sides of the plate?

It is on the plate. Her plates are white center, dark line around it and with light brown outer part. Hard to tell that when you don't see the table.
I actually do not believe the Christian card was a scam in the beginning with Jon and Kate. Look to her journals and how she wrote about praying to God. I do believe that it became a scam once they realized how much money could be made on church speaking tours and a book contract with Zondervan. Now she seldom speaks of God. Do the kids even attend Sunday School these days? That I doubt but I sure remember TLC filming them dropping off the toddlers while J+K attended church. The church angle and refusing reduction was played up and it worked. Jon and Kate were already wealthy when that was happening. Truly despicable.
As far as the Busbys, I'll reserve judgement but if they continue down the Gosselin path, it will turn out the same.
I don't add to the scammers coffers and it doesn't sound like you do either, but we can't stop those who do, we can't outlaw gullibility, stupidity, naïveté. There will always be scammers and those who enable them.
local, did you notice how she made it sound ALL the tups prepared that lunch? It took six kids to make that?? And doesn't Jon get the kids (or some of them on the weekends? She is so transparent.

We won't be able to stop everyone from falling for scammers but when law enforcement cracks down on scammers that has saved a lot of people from losing out on their money. It used to be you could say anything, now if you set up a gofundme page you better hope it's real because it will get reported and referred to law enforcement if it's not.
One thing that helps as well is awareness. Discussions and chatter about people like this. The more people who are aware that there are people out there taking advantage of others the more likely people own't fall for it.
Wasn't Kate a wild child and young woman who made a lot of decisions that were contrary to what her Christian parents would want?
Seems like she conveniently came back to the faith when she saw they could get a lot of free support for their kids, starting as far back as the twins.
Here's a theory. Maybe TFW was indeed away last
weekend for Mother's Day (as Jon's picture
intimated), so the kids fixed her a belated
lunch today?
The food in the lunch picture is on the plate, Math Girl. It's a deceptive plate, a white circle surrounded with gray, and the gray blends into the counter.
But what is that lunch? Is there anything in between those tortillas? Plain tortilla and a small amount of lettuce and cherry tomatoes. That's not a lunch.
Maybe it's bikini diet days at the Estate.

Oh ! I thought you had An inside scoop darn it
If the kids made her lunch, did they have to wrap the counter top with garbage bags and threaten each other about dropping granules of grain on the floor?
I seriously doubt this was the first time the sextuplets (or any combination of some of them) have made a meal for Kate, so I have to wonder what her reason was for tweeting that at this particular time. Because, you know, she always has a hidden agenda.

I took a look at it. Why, in the name of all that's holy, would she tweet such a photo? What is wrong with her? A few pieces of lettuce and some tomatoes thrown in there, and she takes a picture of it? Wouldn't you be embarrassed to do so? How long will it take for the sheeple to ask for the recipe?
Oh, well. It could be worse. It could be a picture of her chicken cacciatore or that grasy sausage bake. Yum.

It is on the plate. Her plates are white center, dark line around it and with light brown outer part. Hard to tell that when you don't see the table.
-------------------
Thank you, Ingrid and Jeanne. When I look more closely, I can almost see the whole plate. And when I enlarge the picture, part of the edge of the plate actually shows up, and some bits of counter.
It looks to me like the tortilla may be a quesadilla with a miniscule amount of cheese filling.
They'll never get on Chopped Jr. with that meal. She's hinted at that before especially when they had the cooking competition episode a year or so ago.

Maybe the children are writing a "Kooking With Kate's Kids" book and she's just testing the waters.
Is this what you're talking about Sleepless?
http://www.kateplusmy8.com/menu-monday-5/a
PatK, you are right. There is always an agenda. Perhaps it is a subtle way to prove that because she shows her love by cooking "delicious" meals for her children (I thought that is what moms do anyway), she is by contrast posting the photo that because a meal for her was prepared by her children (apparently by all six according to Kate), they love her too. Why update everyone what a loving family they are? She Insists this is the case in her Twitter so it makes you suspect the opposite is true.
Other than that, her tweet implies all the sextuplets were home with her yesterday. Why post it and why not say who specifically prepared it if you post such a thing? Does she still think of them as a six-pack, if one child made her lunch then all six are equally loving towards her? Twitter is her instrument to create a world that does not exist in that household, IMO.
I doubt all of Kate's 12-year olds make quesadillas, but it's a great meal to start kids off cooking. Hard to mess up.
Maybe one day the kids will realize that salad is dressed with real ingredients, not something spritzed from a bottle ;-)

(((((((((
I believe Kate was raised Christian and rebelled against it, but nuzzled back in when she needed God.
There's nothing wrong with leaning on God, that's for sure. However, I think with Kate, there's no reciprocity with Him.
There's not rejoicing for the sake of rejoicing. There's no thanks for the sake of thanks. There's no praise for the sake of praise.
Now that Kate's been living on Easy Street, her faith has seemed to have taken a back seat.
When Kate sat down with Natalie Morales, I was appalled at her excuse for not going to church anymore, moreover, that she seemed to just wash her hands of being a Christian leader to her kids.
Kate feigned tears about not being able to emotionally handle taking her kids to church alone. Yet, she's spewing these lies 3000 MILES away, and how did she manage to get there, yet not be able to take her kids a few miles down the road to church on Sunday?
She can emotionally stand being away (like, opposite COAST away) from her 8 LITTLE children (when they were under ENORMOUS emotional distress) for probably a week, but can't handle bringing them to our Lord for ONE HOUR?
Again, a convenient reason when it comes to her faith.
Hey, I haven't been the best Catholic, but I'm not going to bullshit anyone, let alone God, about my shear laziness at times.
Tucker's Mom (#60), thanks for articulating my
feelings. She claimed emotional distress after the divorce prevented her from going to church? She ended the marriage! She didn't want him anymore, and didn't want to enter counseling to try to, if not salvage the marriage, at least let the other party have some closure.
So if TFW wanted to stick to her victim story,
why wouldn't she welcome going to church without
that man-child loser she had to finally get rid
of? Or if she was genuinely feeling sad, what better place than church to go for solace? Not only from her faith, but from a loving church community who helped her family for years? And here's an even crazier concept I guess the world's bestest mommy didn't think of: how about taking the kids to church every week for THEM? With
their little lives in upheaval, that might've
given them a sense of normalcy and comfort.

Just. No. Words.
This sense of entitlement to Kate's children's private lives is sickening.
I don't know, it seems like if there was cheese inside that bread that you could see some of it peeking out along the cut lines. When is the last time any of us cut a cheese quesadilla or pizza with perfectly pristine edges? Unless, of course, it's cold. But then reheating it would make the cheese run again.
I think that's a plain flatbread cut with a pizza cutter. It's hardly a federal issue, but it goes toward my concern about food issues in that house.

I know almost next to nothing about Twitter and don't have an account (and don't want one!) but I am curious about the "blocking" thing. If Kate has a tweeter blocked, is there any way she can see it, or are the non-fans tweeting to nobody when they use the @kateplusmy8 thing? I have noticed that when her twitter name isn't a tweet, it will still show up on her timeline.
One more question -- in order to DM someone, must both tweeters "follow" each other?
@Susie Cincinnati To answer all your questions. When Kate blocks somebody, their tweets won't pop up in her notifications section.I believe she can still see their tweets if she looks up her timeline by typing her account in the search section and clicking Kateplus8 timeline and seeing all the tweets sent to her.For DMing you're correct that people have to follow with each other in order to DM each, hence why Milo and Goody claiming that they send Kate DMS even though i don't believe Kate ever responds to their DM,though i don't know.

=============
The new show airs in two weeks, and there's been no announcement by TLC or Kate? Usually they make an announcement about the show returning at least a month in advance.
I noticed that it moved to Mondays from Tuesdays. I wonder if the delay was so there would be no competition with DWTS which ends its season next week.
That Monday is also Memorial Day. I wonder if that will help or hurt her ratings.
TLC stinks (#71), that seems like a pretty crummy time slot to me. It's Memorial Day, and a 3-day weekend will be winding down, and people will
be getting ready to get back to work. It's not like millions of families will be gathered around the TV from 9-11 to watch. But, hey, she'll probably pull in a million anyway. I've given
up hope that she'll ever disappear.
Sounds like a holiday weekend dumping. Usually in the evening of Memorial Day people are either coming home from their three day weekend, unpacking, cleaning up from the BBQ, opening up the pool, doing a bit of cleaning to begin the unofficial start of summer.
It's not a traditional day to start a new season.
It is unusual for her and TLC to be quiet about her premiere. Perhaps this time slot will change again. I'm just curious if the New Orleans sighting was legit.
Two hours is ridiculous with an immediate rerun. TLC must have nothing else to run that Monday night. Maybe it is a bad time slot. I agree with Flimsy that she'll pull her usual one million, though. There are old fans who always tune in, and new fans are captured because TLC has her reruns here and broadcasts overseas. At some point, though, you have to ask just how many reruns can people stomach. The material is thin already.

Why is it orange?
---------------------------
Because of orange cheddar cheese. You can google and read the original recipe. Kate's original looks orange but not that orange. It looks like the tweeter may have used the neon orange stuff that comes in Kraft dinner (now know as KD in Canada) instead of breadcrumbs for the topping.
It's interesting to read the recipe. Kate was inspired by a great sale on organic frozen hash browns. Yet Ms. Health Eating has no qualms about including ham (nitrates and excess salt), orange cheddar cheese (dyes), canned soup (excess salt and who know what else), and sour cream in her recipe. That she "invented".
That time slot certainly puts the kibosh on children watching.

Wow, Goody is cracking under the pressure of having to be the head sheep. She is one angry lady. What I find hilarious, though,is that the sheep always trashed the non-fans for saying, "It's all about Kate". But now that the kids are getting older, we are seeing them say the exact same thing about her. Goody thinks the kids will tell the non-fans to kiss their a$$es, but it looks to me like the kids are already agreeing with the "haters". Does that make the kids "haters", too?
Perhaps it not the start of a new series. It could possibly be a 2-hour one and done.
Wasn't the title for the preempted April 26th episode called "10 year Anniversary Special"?
The first special, "Surviving Sextuplets and Twins" aired on May 14, 2006. Possibly another reason for the delay was that someone actually thought it would be better to air it AFTER the anniversary rather than before.
@Layla I wonder what goody thinks about Leah admitting that she's moving out when she turns 18.Hannah will most likely follow her as well.Sad part about Goody is that if the haters are right and the kids say the opposite of what she believes,i have this feelings she'd act like she knows Kate personally and claim that their mother did everything for them.
I found a synopsis of the 10 Year Anniversary Special on Amazon.
"10 Year Anniversary
Kate looks back 10 years to when their first television special aired and compares then to now. The challenges are different, but the memories are just as rewarding."
But it says that episode is only 42 minutes. So what the other hour is about is anyone's guess. Shopping at Costco and Target?
@KIAT Don't forget the "decade of Kate"last year which was 3 hours but bombed with around 600,000 views.I wonder if because of this,TLC isn't going to make any new episodes base around Kate.
I wouldn't count out an episode of K+8 on Tuesday the 31st yet. When TLC did the 3-hour "Decade of Kate" it aired on Monday, June 22. The next night was the episode of Kate's 40th birthday.
If I remember correctly, the original listing for the "10 year anniversary" episode had it pegged for one hour, not two. This could be something completely different. We'll know more when the episode description is added and Tuesday's schedule is available.
What is going on with all these "looking back" episodes? Are they (TLC and Kate the Producer) completely out of ideas? They constantly have to remind the viewers of the time when the kids were toddlers and people still liked this family (carefully editing out the father, of course). It's a constant round of vacations, shopping. and "looking back". None of TLC's other shows does this. They all have something new to show each season. K+8 does not. It's the same thing over and over and over. I guess that's why they have to constantly remind people that they used to like the Gosselins--because there's nothing much to like about them now.
OT: survivor finale Wednesday night.
Dancing with the Stars finale next week on Mon and Tuesday. My money is on Nyle
OT: I wonder why they are remaking Roots? The original miniseries was superb. However wasn't it found out that some of the material was not true?
Re the 2 hour premiere:
TLC recently aired the season premiere of Sister Wives as a 2 hour episode but it was actually 2 hour long shows that they simply tacked together. Later in the week they re-ran the shows separately.
Someone sitting in an office, getting paid big $$$ to make programming decision at TLC, must think it's a brilliant idea to air 2 as 1. Do they get more ad dollars this way? I doubt it. Does it draw more viewers? I doubt it; I think people get tired of watching during the second hour, especially if it's a boring show, as we can count on TFW's to be. It must make sense to someone to air these shows this way, but it doesn't to me. lol
I don't understand why there is a 10 year anniversary program when every show has been repeated ad nauseum. I could understand a 10 year special if she and the kids had been incognito since 2009, but it makes no sense repeating the repeats.
What is going on with all these "looking back" episodes? Are they (TLC and Kate the Producer) completely out of ideas? &&&&&&&
LPBW did this in their new season recently. They took a look back at the marriages/courtships of the 2 sons. I do think they do this because it saves a lot of production money plus they basically have nothing new to film - TFW being a prime example.
The Roloff family at least had the sons' marriages for storylines and now they're using Amy and Matt's divorce and the sons being more involved with the farm, but what does TFW have going on in her life? Nothing, nada, zip, and I think that's why we see so many vacation and shopping episodes. Since they're still able to make money on the show, they continue to film, but content/quality wise - the shows stink! People are tuning in, imo, because they were hooked on the show when the kids were little and watch now to see the conflict between TFW and the kids. I doubt the show is picking up any new viewers.
Jamezvader, she won't be on Tuesday because of "Outdaughtered". I suspect the first hour on Monday, May 30, is the Anniversary clip show and the second hour is probably her birthday vacay or vice versa. Personally I think when TLC signed her on for more seasons they expected better episodes and are stuck until her contract runs out. It's not been a disaster with her one million in ratings, but certainly the idea pool has dried up.

I guess that Roots remake is being dumped as well, right? The one featuring a bunch of talentless hacks, including an Academy Award winner.
&&&&
I've noticed miniseries are usually an exception to the idea you don't start up a brand new season or series on a holiday weekend unless it's a dumping. I imagine it's an all their eggs in one basket thing, and could really pay off. Of those watching TV, they hope to catch most of them. Even if it's a lesser number of people watching any TV at all on that evening overall, if they're catching the majority of them by hyping a "special event" with major stars (and, there's not anything else on competing because it's a holiday weekend), that could be a huge success.
It also could be a clever ploy to avert a disaster if they are worried it won't do well. If they are worried it could all be hype and end up flopping, they can easily say, well it was a holiday weekend so. Miniseries are a tough sell no matter who is starring in them, they simply don't make miniseries much anymore. Not anything like the heyday of the 80's and into the 90's. I imagine anyone who is into programming would be biting their nails over tryign to make a go of a miniseries no matter how good it is. Network miniseries are pretty much dead, they are rarely seen anymore.
There's just no denying there's less people watching TV on busy holiday weekends especially as we are rolling into summer, and I'm not sure why that's even an argument. Of course networks have to show SOMETHING, but it may not be the best they have. I stand by my comment, Kate's a dumping, and other series that are starting up that day are likely D-rate dumpings as well. I think comparing a major television event on a major network to what a little cable station is doing with their slot, is apples and oranges.
OT: I wonder why they are remaking Roots? The original miniseries was superb.
&&&&
The original was superb. Great word. I've seen it all the way through at least 3 times and wouldn't mind going through it again. It was used as a teaching tool in high school, and I remember writing an essay on it. I will for sure watch the remake and we'll see if it can compare.
What is going on with all these "looking back" episodes? Are they (TLC and Kate the Producer) completely out of ideas?
&&&&
Cheap filler I bet.
It must cost 1/5th of what is does to produce them compared to a real episode.
And yes Little People does it all the time, streeeetching the season out with a bunch of looking back, looking forward episodes, splicing in a few updated interviews (a day of filming, tops) and they're done. Even if the ratings aren't as good since they were made so cheaply I bet they still profit. But is it respectful of the viewers? Absolutely not. Like serving leftovers to distinguished guests. They'll eat it, like them and feel full, but it's not as nice as giving them a real meal made that day.

premiere on Memorial Day 2016, May 30, and will air over four consecutive nights, simulcast on fellow A+E Networks channels A&E and Lifetime.
The late May holiday has become History’s preferred launching pad for high-profile miniseries. Mega hit Hatfield & McCoys was first, History Logo 2debuting on Memorial Day 2012, followed by Texas Rising, which bowed on Memorial Day 2015.
For the air pattern of the four-night, eight-hour Roots, History is sticking to the model used for the six-hour Hatfield & McCoys, which aired on three consecutive nights. With the eight-hour Texas Rising, History tried a different approach — a two-night launch followed by a two-hour episode airing each the following two Mondays. The Roots release pattern also mirrors that of the iconic original miniseries, which ABC aired on eight consecutive nights in 1977.

********************************
Am I looking at it wrong? It says:
Kate Plus 8 is not currently on the schedule.
When I go to that link and go on the TV Schedule link it doesn't go to May 30 for me.
-----------------
Hmm, interesting. It WAS there before. My cable guide shows a new listing(no description) for Kate plus 8 on the 30th, as does TVGuide.com.

Maybe someone at TLC had an "uh-oh" moment and realized that they scheduled it against the new Roots reboot.

"5th grade history is clearly VERY EXCITING (& informative)! I'm learning all about Abe Lincoln and his assassin in gr8 detail! #DinnerConvo" Wait?I thought the 6 started middle school?Unless they started late because i have a cousin who's the same age as them and she is in middle school.

LOL Just keep pushing her back and the kids will be 18 before it airs.

I wonder if she knows he's on Rushmore!
She should take the kids a few blocks from school and have them see this carving.
I did a double take, slowed down, and almost hit the guy in front of me because I was gawking! It is larger than it appears in the photo...really great job!

jamezvader, Kate kept ALL the tups back because a couple were slower. I guess they are in fifth grade now? How could Kate act all surprised about the facts of the Lincoln assassination? Duh!

No. They are in grade 5. They were redshirted for a year because not all of them were ready for Kindergarten.
Maybe she tracks everyone's ratings on her

LOL!
I was thinking stick up notes on vertical surfaces, but the Kate Kalendar is so much more organizationalish so things don't look clutterish.

@Gardendelightfu @Kateplusmy8 19 when they graduate!!I'd say so!!
&&&&&
They will be 19 on May 10. Their graduation will be the following week.
It's no major catastrophe that for one week before graduation they will have celebrated their 19th. I mean, so what?
OT: In other news, viaviewfiles.net has very interesting article on attorney who is bringing suit against McNuggets. It's interesting article. Much more interesting than boring TLC same old same old shows.
The late May holiday has become History’s preferred launching pad for high-profile miniseries. Mega hit Hatfield & McCoys was first, History Logo 2debuting on Memorial Day 2012, followed by Texas Rising, which bowed on Memorial Day 2015.
&&&&&
That sounds pretty similar to what I was speculating about, that they can tie in a "major television event" with a holiday weekend.
It also makes it easier for viewers to remember when it starts (Memorial Day) versus trying to remember a random day.
Kate is neither a miniseries nor a major television event. I don't think the same principles would apply whatsoever to her poh-dunk series nor to any other D list show trying to launch a premiere on a holiday weekend.
some of the kids are already planning to get out of that house as soon as they are old enough, that kind of ruins the image they have of Kate as the perfect, always-sacrificing, saintly mother. After all, the kids live with her, they know what life is really like with her. I tend to believe them, not Milo and Goody, who have never met her.
&&&&
I believe them too and not only that but Kate really gives herself away. In particular I'm thinking of the many times there is some event or activity arranged supposedly for the kids then suddenly she is off doing her own fun thing without the kids and there's always some excuse why the kids can't have the grand fun she's having--too young, seasick, etc. It's obvious it's all about her and the kids are just a means to her own end.
And like you said, the kids have now said many times that it's all about Kate. Both the twins and the younger ones. In particular Leah's recent comment that this show could be called Kate Plus Kate. And, quite frankly, it's not said in a joking manner. They're serious, and they're frustrated, and they've had it. It's her funeral--this is only going to be part of the many reasons they resent her as life goes on. She will have to deal with that resentment, not us.
The daily dribble from the Church Women:
"Herbie Bernlockers got picked up by police last night found him with a HOOKER in he's truck. Susan's just a mess don't no what she done"
Uh oh. Old Herbie has some 'splaining to do!
"If u feel tingly and want to touch your private parts just drop to ur knees n pray"
Alrighty then! Wasn't this the one who was down on her knees prayin' the other day, ALL day, and only took time out for a ciggie break? Hmmmm!
I wonder if the paul barrier got his britches pressed.
I was almost a full year younger than many of my classmates. It did make a difference to me, especially when they could drive and I couldn't, they could sip a 3.2 beer and I couldn't. Sometimes those 8-12 months cause some unhappy feelings.

The research is showing that red shirted children have all kinds of advantages that could set them up for a great start to adulthood. Still, I think she held the children back because of filming, and I'll always believe that.
Conversely, I was a baby in my class. I had JUST turned 18 when I graduated. It never made one bit of difference to me. I actually liked that I was younger than most of my classmates but was still a straight A student with the best of them.
It makes me think it really doesn't make much of a difference one way or another. It's just a year.
Actually I take that back Mona I did not like either that I couldn't drive when they could. It felt like FOREVER before I was allowed to. That really stunk didn't it?! But, I got over it, and it's not the worst thing in the world for a child to understand that life is not always fair.
Wow, it appears that TLC may have pushed K+8 back again! They have to know by now that she can't go up against any serious competition (i.e a better show), and they know that K+8 needs a strong lead-in. Scheduling is going to require some serious planning. I have seen ads for My Big Fat Fabulous Life, starting in June, but not a peep about K+8. At what point do the people at TLC decide that K+8 just isn't worth the headache?
Well, guess who is back after an extended hiatus? Kravitz the Peeper!
How could Kate act all surprised about the facts of the Lincoln assassination? Duh!
&&&&&&
That's an easy one to answer, considering Kate's lack of history knowledge. ANYTHING she could learn from them would be new to her.
In all seriousness, though, there is so much to learn about the assassination. Each time I watch a new documentary I learn something that I didn't know before, especially having to do with conspiracy theories. It's not all a "Booth shot Lincoln in Ford's Theater" scenario and "Booth fled on horseback to Garrett's farm in Virginia where he was shot and killed."
Admin, I know you like that period of history. Have you read the historical fiction, "The Lincoln Deception?" I just started reading it and have no opinion just yet. I really did like O'Reilly's "Killing Lincoln." I enjoy his ease of narrative in explaining some complicated political events that were going down at that time.
@Fleecing the Sheeple I wonder if its because Milo got news of Kate's show returning on May 30 she decided to come out of hiding. What a kawinkydink she appeared when TLC showed a preview on May 30.Though if TLC deleted it on the site because they want to push it back her fans will be upset again. @Kateplusmy8 Just saw the preview for the 2 hour special May, 30th!! 😮 YAY!!! #kateplus8 #tlc
The Lincoln assassination is endlessly fascinating though I'm not sure how much of the details are appropriate for fifth graders. Has she taken the children to the many civil war sites in that part of the country? If they're showing interest in this time period they couldn't live in a better place.

&&&&&&&&&
There's a Civil War encampment held every year, only a few blocks from school, on the historical society grounds. She needs to get her behind over there. A nice field trip for them would be to the National Civil War Museum in Harrisburg. I never get tired of going there. The amount of memorabilia they have there is incredible, including an original war ambulance/hearse with solders's blood still on the side of it.

Admin, the real question is, was and always will be:
does this activity interest Kate? If not, fat chance she's taking her kids there without a camera crew in tow.
Milos back
Carole (92): "What is going on with all these "looking back" episodes?"
)))))))))))
It's the only thing the can do. They certainly can't do a "looking forward" episode because that would involve the kids' escape and the writing of the tell-all books.
I hope I'm not the only one who finds @Donutsxxx... recent suicide tweets to Milo disturbing. I agree. That's sinking to a new low. Time to sit back, take a breath and chill for a bit. You don't ever suggest suicide to a person, even in jest. You just don't.
Milo is a strange bird, but she (he?) doesn't deserve that. Nobody does. Time for Kate to close her Twitter.
Kate's premiere gets yanked off the schedule AGAIN but not before Milo suddenly reappears. It's like this person stayed hidden until it appeared Kate was going to be back on air and therefore felt the need to churn up Twitter chit chat regarding Kate. Absolutely no coincidence.
ITA the suicide tweets are over the line. If there was ever a time to make her/his Twitter private, that would be it; but that would defeat the purpose of being Kate's public mouthpiece, so that will never happen. At least Deanna and Jamie got the hint.
Twitter posts tweet times according to your local time. I'm in same time zone as her. Kind of odd Kate posts #dinnerconvo after 9 pm. Made it sound like she tweeted near dinner time but not really. Just an odd thing.

I agree that the person tweeting about Gladys has crossed a line. That sort of comment is way past teasing or snark. It's cruel and uncalled for.
TLC stinks (#132), if a fan wishing the father
of TFW's children would land in a coma for 6 months didn't inspire her to shut her Twitter down, then we're dealing with someone with different standards of what's acceptable.

TLC can't seem to get their act together. The website is now showing a marathon (well, three episodes) of OutDaughtered starting at 8:00 on Monday. They also have a marathon (another three episodes) of LPBW starting at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Kate+8 isn't anywhere on the list for the next two weeks.
I just saw an ad for Kate Plus 8 last night, and it said May 30th at 9pm.
===========================
This is really getting weird. Yesterday, Kate plus 8 was listed in my cable guide for May 30 at 9pm. Today, in the 8pm-11pm slot for May 30, my cable guide shows repeats for the first 3 episodes of "Outdaughtered".
Seems like TLC can't get its act together. First, they list the new premiere date of Kate plus 8 as May 30 at 9pm on their website and in cable guides. Then they delete those listings, but then they air an ad for it?
They aired an ad for the show for Apr.26, which was later changed. Now they air an ad for the show for May 30, but it was deleted from cable guide and website.
Seems like one hand doesn't know what the other is doing, and they also can't seem to make up their mind when to air the show. Wasn't that the case last year also, when Kate tweeted the show would air around Thanksgiving, but it was later pushed back to several weeks later?
If I were a fan of the show and saw those promotional ads and then find out the show wasn't airing when they said, I would definitely get frustrated to the point where I wouldn't care any more whether the show aired or not.
Is that what TLC is hoping for? Alienating the fans so that when a show finally does air that nobody watches and they can use that as an excuse to send Kate packing?
Judging by tweets and FB, it seems Outdaughtered has taken Kate's place in the TLC viewers hearts and TLC knows it.
I saw those suicide tweets last night and was thoroughly disgusted . They were accused of death threats against kg which was not true but now this is right up there with that. I hope it was reported .
@KIAT If TLC can't decide when to air Kate because they're worried that any other show is going to beat her show in viewers(heck even the shows that aren't as popular)then they really should just give up on Kate. They've been beating this dead horse for years now and nothing has changed episode wise or Kate's attitude .Heck even the most promoted episode last season with Kate going on a date didn't even do as well as other episodes.
it seems Outdaughtered has taken Kate's place in the TLC viewers hearts and TLC knows it.
***********
I think Outdaughtered has won TLC's heart as well.
Kate who?
KIAT (#137), yes, TFW had tweeted the show would
air around when we eat turkey, or something clever-ish like that. But it didn't air until December.
This has got to sting for TFW. She was TLC's darling for so long. And I still contend that
a legit producer wouldn't be kept in the dark about these things.
Sounds like a holiday weekend dumping. Usually in the evening of Memorial Day people are either coming home from their three day weekend, unpacking, cleaning up from the BBQ, opening up the pool, doing a bit of cleaning to begin the unofficial start of summer.
AND, watch TV.....Don't think the time or day will hurt at all.
Ziggy
That promo ad airing was probably something that could not be changed at the last minute. I thought it was odd that TLC's web page had it on the schedule yesterday with no description. I have not seen any other cable network juggle shows at the last minute like TLC. I bet some fans will tune in on Memorial Day evening and expect to see their heroine. Alas, it will not be. Nothing is more frustrating for a viewer is to get accustomed to watching your show on a certain night, at a certain time, and instead it gets bounced around and you miss it. It could be TLC is attempting to phase her out or it's the end of her contract. They don't appear to be worried about the promotion of the show or airing time.
The research is showing that red shirted children have all kinds of advantages that could set them up for a great start to adulthood. Still, I think she held the children back because of filming, and I'll always believe that
I think the kids were very immature. They were also so tiny. I think because 2 weren't ready, holding the other 4 back was a good choice. I also think she didn't give the time to get them ready. I don't think their 3 afternoon preschool did much for these kids. I do agree that starting them a year late is no big deal at all.
Sara
Perhaps TLC is using Kate to actually promote their latest family of multiples--the Busby's.
They put out an ad to promote Kate plus 8 airing on May 30. Viewers tune in, but find the Busby's instead of the Gosselins.
It's actually a brilliant way to introduce the old Gosselin family fans who haven't heard of the Busby's to their new multiple family!!
Bait and switch--TLC style!!
Whitney and her fat, fab life is the grossest show. She is not funny. She over compensates and that laugh is so annoying. For someone so concerned about type 2 diabetes she sure hasn't lost in weight. She looks bigger to me and all TLC is doing is make obesity look like it's ok. They use the word fat and not obese. And Whitney says she has a clean bill of health. I wonder what doctor would tell her that. BMI is mentioned at all of my physicals and I am not even heavy. This no body shame BS she is trying to get people to accept that being obese is ok. Obesity drives up healthcare, the amount of people required to take care of their obese asses. Nothing is easy when you get that large.
When was Whitney on? I'm kind of hooked on My 600 lb life
I wonder if its because Milo got news of Kate's show returning on May 30 she decided to come out of hiding

Nah. TLC paid Milo's marketing invoice for the first time in months.
No need to pay him/her for the months that TFW isn't on the air.
That is so weird that it disappeared from TLC's website; I saw it on the main TLC schedule and the K+8 page on TLC website; now its gone. Hmmmm...
You can't rule out the possibility of something going on behind the scenes in family court either; I thought about that last month when it was pulled from the schedule. Did TFW sign a new contract using her legal custody and perhaps Jon is fighting that, based on what is allowed under legal custody? Perhaps TLC thinks everything is good, they announce new show, then its communicated to them that all is not good so they pull the show.

I was thinking the same thing. Milo is what she is, but darn it, that was so out of line and showed the true nature of some of those people, which is to be nasty and harassing. If that's not bullying, I don't know what it. They took it way too far and I hope that someone reported it.

Don't you think that if TLC was paying people to tweet positively about Kate, they'd be a bit more diligent about getting the dates and times correct about when she's actually going to be on?

Interesting. Do you think TLC has a cadre of people they pay to post positive tweets about the cast members of their shows or is Kate an exception?
Twitter's gotten a lot better than they used to be about truly inappropriate tweets. They'll take them down and band the account, you just have to go through their complaint process.
After years of being non-responsive to me when I again reported an impersonator to them last year they promptly took it down. It was a nice change. It took about 48 hours tops, as I recall.

I can't speak for TLC, but I can speak for the Emmy award winning, syndicated network show I worked with for quite a few years. I handled a lot of the show's social media and can 100% guarantee that people were hired to tweet and FB positive things about the show, the celebs who were on it, the host, etc. They weren't permitted to tweet or FB on a whim, they were sent promos and such and told what time of day to post these. We weren't the only show doing this - it was, and it remains, a common practice. It wouldn't surprise me if there are tweeters being paid to tweet about the TLC shows but judging from the tweets I've seen, either someone at TLC doesn't know PR or these tweeters aren't given much direction!
Somewhere In Time (#150), I wonder who these people are in real life. Would their Facebook "friends" imagine this is a person who tells someone on social media to kill herself?
Would their co-workers or church friends or
others in their social circle know they're
capable of this sort of ugly bullying?
Sandi
The suicide tweets on Kates twitter have been deleted.
My cable guide shows listings for the next two weeks and there's no Kate Plus 8 scheduled. It also seems that past shows are no longer available on demand. I hear a gurgling drain!

You mean people would take on a name that had been used to call in to a radio show and used to regularly post on blogs, and use that name and develop and "life" with husband and kids and tweet to a star of the show for years, day in and day out?
Oh, you're asking if Milo was hired by TLC to tweet about Kate? I have no idea but personally have always thought she's just an over-the-top fan, enamored with who she thinks Kate is.
Jane, yes. I do not think Milo is paid by TLC to tweet. I think she's an over the top fan who doesn't want to give up and let the other side "win". She's always saying she gets right back up again whenever life knocks her down. I think it's become more about staying in there than it is about Kate at this point.
But saying that, I think the hanging tweets were WAY over the line.
I don't believe TLC would ever pay someone as ODD as Milo to tweet for them. That's nuts.
I do believe they of course pay people to run their social media and that can include general "buzz" tweets as well as bots, and promotional info found on their facebook, etc. But these would be college degree, communications/social media specialists, and the social media presence would have a level of professionalism to it. They're not going to involve themselves with some random weirdo fan from the south.

Milo reads here! Of course, we knew that already.
Since it's not public as to what Jon is or is not doing in regards to custody, in PA a parent can petition the court for a change in custody. There is physical custody and legal custody which Kate has. If Jon were serious about his concern that he is not allowed to spend time with some of the kids or a child wants to live with him, he and Kate could mutually agree to change the custody terms. Knowing Kate, that ain't gonna happen. Jon would have to file a petition to modify. Pennsylvania law requires a substantial change in circumstances that are in the child's best interest when only one parent requests a custody change. The judge has a hearing. The petitioning parent must present evidence and witnesses why a change in physical custody is best for the child. Factors considered are if one parent does not foster a relationship with the other parent, parenting competence, child's relationship with siblings, and parental abuse. Since Jon had to hire an attorney, it stands to reason all is not well in regards to custody. Whether that is now an issue and her show's premiere being postponed, we have no way of knowing if and until a child ends up with Jon or a child or two are not forced to film = end of show. Remember, whatever is going on, it's all about what is in the child's best interest.

Yup, that's it. We'd often use interns, but they were given clear directions and watched carefully. And even then they'd accidentally tweet from their personal accounts!
No way would a Milo be approved to tweet or use any of the social media tools. I know there are some who think Kate and Milo are one and the same. Or that it's Steve. Or a man. But having seen her in action since the earliest days of all "this", I still think it's just one of the odder fans.
The church ladies are entertaining, but I wonder where they come up with some of the things that they do. In what kind of fantasy world do they live? Why would one of them even think that Hillary chose Jenner as her running mate?

The hanging tweets from last night -- just deleting them isn't enough. No matter how strange or odd Milo is, and no matter how much of an annoyance she can be, she should get an apology for those tweets. She didn't deserve it. That would be the right thing to do.

Tweets that outrageous are in my view usually an indication of mental illness, anger management problems, or other mental health issues.
The problem is they're not operating from a rational or socially acceptable standpoint. They won't apologize or make it right because they have difficulty grasping the wrong.
Not making excuses, but as long as those really struggling mentally have access to the internet you will always see posts like that. It's not a matter of reasoning with them to be nicer and apologize as they are not stable enough to possess such reason. I don't think anyone should get very upset over them much less Milo. All kinds have access to twitter and you are going to find people on there who really need help. There is "no mentally unstable" rule on the internet! We've seen it in some posts here, too, some really off the wall drive bys who are clearly off. It's just a part of unfettered access to the internet and you can shrug and move on (and report it to twitter to handle it, delete the comment, etc.), or get really upset about it. I choose to shrug and move on and report it, and also, hope they get help someday.
I know some people work with the mentally ill as I do. They are going to say and do things to you that just are not right. At first I was so hurt, shocked, saddened at things I saw, heard, and were said to me. I've had people so removed from reality they seem to truly believe a totally altered version of events. Try having someone accuse you of forging their signature on a document (and believing it with all their being) when you would never dream of such a thing much less care enough to go to the trouble. That's fun!
Now I guess I feel immune to it, and have fully accepted it's not personal.

It wasn't just one of them, but several who hopped on board with that. With just one, I could understand the mental health issue, but when several of them do it, is that indicative that they all have a serious issue, or is it a group mentality thing, and when one does it, others join in, just for the sake of being one of the group?

All i will say is that,Gladys was clearly trying to bait the haters last night, heck she still seems to be doing it tonight.Whomever she/he is,i can see why they love Kate so much because they have so much in common. They both love the attention and are both passive aggressive.Hate to say it but she also seems very insecure like Kate.Which could be the reason why she refuses to meet Kate and pretend to have this weird relationship with her over twitter.

With just one, I could understand the mental health issue, but when several of them do it, is that indicative that they all have a serious issue, or is it a group mentality thing, and when one does it, others join in, just for the sake of being one of the group?

You got it. It's a group, dog pile on the rabbit kind of thing. They aren't all mentally ill. And part of it is they feel in this war they need to support their side. It IS sick, but not a mental issue.
It could be one or two mentally ill and the rest jumping on the bandwagon. I have no idea if those specific tweets are a result of mental illness, but I do think the majority of such wild comments are not coming from a place of stability.
I saw just a minute of the Buzzes because it was tacked onto my DVR of Little People. But I could tell right away the production values and style are far hipper and cooler, the couple better looking, younger, and have much more energy than checked-out Kate and the kids. She must be shaking in her boots, there's a new sheriff in town.

The church ladies are entertaining, but I wonder where they come up with some of the things that they do. In what kind of fantasy world do they live? Why would one of them even think that Hillary chose Jenner as her running mate?
_______________
And to think that they vote! How can they understand the issues facing this country, and how the candidates stand on the issues?
Another one...
"Loud mouth Nancy Pegosi"
I guess this is a relative of the former Speaker of the House.
Has she explained her three-month absence, or hasn't anyone asked?
)))
She's hinting that she had some big adversity (climbing the mountain only to fall down; downright saying she's been dealing with adversity) which is not what Goody said. Goody said she was fine, just taking care of her family.
I saw on People website they have pics of Josh Duggar. TLC seems to desperate to bring back their cash cow!!!

Thank you, Admin for your insight and thoughts. I could not agree more. My husband has worked at our local L.A. ARC for more than 7 years. My mother did the same, over in Hermosa Beach when I was a child. Dealing with the mentally ill has been our life experience. I would like to apologize to Milo for the tweets sent last night, in someone else's displaced anger. Kristine101

I've seen a couple articles from Hollywood Gossip or some similar site re: Josh being spotted at a miniature golf course with the rest of the family in Pensacola Florida (where the Duggars have a vacation home and spend a lot of time--who knew?)and parents were complaining about his presence as well as a Mother's Day dinner at a restaurant where he seemed ill at ease.
I don't think People running his picture on their website is going to rehabilitate his image anytime soon.

I have great respect for anyone who works with this population. They need you, desperately.
I just visited the children's ward of a mental health treatment hospital yesterday. It was a sobering experience that left a huge impression on me and a hole in my heart, but I am so grateful I have a "face" to put to the name whenever I am involved with patients who are there. The nurse who was my contact there was an absolute sweetheart, so gentle, sweet, pretty, even was about to break the strict rules and let me bring my laptop in so I could type my notes (I told her no, don't worry about it, I'll write with pen like the olden days!). I left my heart broken, but with confidence her patients were in good hands with her and the staff.
Working with this population certainly gives you perspective. There could be explanations and context for their behavior. They may be facing tremendous difficulties both mentally and in their day to day life. When someone lashes out with a totally inappropriate and hateful tweet, we're not able to see the context behind it as those who work with a struggling population often get to see context for socially unacceptable behavior.
Susan1956 (#177), I think they're trying to test the waters with leaking out information about Josh. I still say there's a redemption book/tour ahead for Josh and Anna, and that his smug mug will be back on TLC at some point.
Can't you just imagine the promo? Sad piano
music tinkling, as a humbled Josh says, "I hit bottom, but I have been blessed with a second chance." Cut to his wife, grasping his hand, saying they've walked through the fire together,
but not they're stronger than ever. Remember, they claim that pesky molestation stuff was no biggie -- over the clothes, slept through it, their friends families have gone through that
and worse, etc. It's the Ashley Madison scandal that truly rocked the family. But if Josh can successfully play the part of a sinner who has been redeemed, they might just pull this off.
Especially if Anna has another pregnancy for
the TLC cameras to document. JMHO, of course!
Flimsy (179), you probably wrote the exact script.
Unfortunately.
Josh's redemption, or lack thereof, should not be a TLC storyline. But, I would bet they are rubbing their grubby hands with glee.
Where can I find the church ladies?
Dmasy (#180), TLC revealed just how low they
could sink when they served up the Gosselins' divorce to their viewers on a golden platter.
The fact that 8 small children's emotional upheaval was on display didn't matter to them.
It wasn't a Very Special Episode of Little
House on the Prairie, with actors playing
parts. It was actual kids with individual
minds and hearts. But it got viewers,
which equals ratings, which equals money.
That's why I found it so disingenuous when
TLC pretended to care about the Duggar
daughters' emotional well being. Give me
a break. All they care about is money.

Kate beams with pride when anyone mentions that her show got 10M viewers.
It's a new low, even for Kate. She sold her family's pain and told the world how each child reacted to the parents' divorcing.
She even timed filing divorce papers for maximum drama, and then had the chutzpah to blame Jon for her sudden decision to pull the trigger on the divorce.
In reality, it was all cold calculation.

Did anyone watch Outdaughtered? Shows Adam purchasing a very expensive camera and selfie stick so he can keep his blog going. They took the picture and then the next day a photographer reached out for a free photo shoot. The Church gave them the van. Now we are hearing about how much everything costs. Interesting discussion about nipples, sexual innuendo and Margaritas from such a Christian family.
I don't understand taking fertility drugs and not planning for the worst outcome. If you can't afford 5 babies, isn't the risk too high?

In West Virginia, campaigning for Boosh.
If admin says it's okay, I'll send you the link to the tweets. There are three primary ones! They are such a hoot.
Looks like Whitney is collapsing due to her weight. Pretty soon Whitney can cross over to Dr. Now and have weight loss surgery.

Exactly. The offensive hanging tweets are gone, but I see the one with the vile garbage mouth is still spewing at Milo. Why would someone feel the need to do this? I don't get it. I think admin was spot on when she used the term unstable.
I wonder if Milo was DMing Kate with the hanging tweets in order to get sympathy -- "See, Kate, this is what I put up with because I love and support you."
Looks like Josh Duggar is home in the bosom of his family, and in the family car selling biz. So says People, with pics and promises of a. Interview with his 'mysterious wife Anna'. I believe I have just thrown up in my mouth a little. Same old, same old fold, and making $$$ off the press. Ah, rehabilitation.

What a toad. Does Josh not have the cajones to speak for himself?
Somehow, someway, TLC is looking to bring Josh back.

I watched one episode and I was pleased and surprised there wasn't a religious tone to their story. They were not wearing t-shirts with Bible verses nor were there religious sayings all over the walls. I only heard one mention of their church when they were talking about being gifted a van and that was it. I think TLC learned their lesson with TFW and the Duggars and they're steering clear of heavy faith based explanations about everything from their reality families - hopefully!
They talked about the many donations they've gotten, both small and large. I cringed when the dad was talking about getting the free photo shoot and how proud he was that his blog post earned him that freebie.
I wondered if other viewers got the same impression as me that their blog posts were done, at least in part, to see what all would be donated to them as a result. OH, and I had to grit my teeth when they said they had to have a professional photo shoot because they didn't have a photo of the whole family together yet. Hey folks, how about asking one of the many people coming and going from your house if they'd take your pic with your iPhone or the new camera you bought? SMH - whatever do people do who can't afford, or aren't lucky enought to have donated, a professional photo shoot to them? They talked as if this was a necessity rather than a want - just like the bigger house. They didn't need a bigger house, they wanted one! And, it sounds like they used their family situation and their notoriety to get one.
I thought they were a nice family and I was fine (It was boring. How many HOM do we need to see fed and burped or hear about their many diaper changes?) with the show until they started talking about how much everything cost and how much they needed hands on help.
And, then it took on an uncomfortable tone for me. It felt too much like their words had a hidden agenda. I felt guilty thinking this, but I wondered if they were watching the show and talking about how many e-mails or phone calls with offers of donations they were hoping to get as a result of the show.
That's a cynical outlook and I don't like thinking that way, but... I'm gonna blame it on too many years of watching TFW in action. lol
I can't imagine what more they can offer viewers. Feedings, diaper changes, laundry, quality time with the older sibling, volunteers, money woes, quirky family dynamics; we've seen it all before, ad nauseum. I wish the family well, but I don't think there's any reason to tune in unless someone hasn't seen a family juggle HOMs before.
Carole, thanks for the summary of Outdaughtered. I have lost my interest in HOM shows which I used to enjoy. I would look forward to a Dilley or McCaughey update or news of a family who had quints etc. There were some cute girl quads with a limited run series I saw as well. And I admit to watching J&K+8. But I am not watching any more of these shows.Did not watch Masche or Jones or Table for 12. Thank goodness this may be among the last.
So, Kate's new season got dropped from TLC's schedule again? It's not on TLC's schedule on May 30th, but was recently?
Sara & Carole, I couldn't agree with you more about Outdaughtered . I only watched a few minutes of it, during the time they were doing the professional photo shoot & couldn't believe how blatant they were about hinting for freebies.
Looks like the interaction between the husband & his mother-in-law is going to be a new version of the tension between J&K.
Did not watch Masche or Jones or Table for 12. Thank goodness this may be among the last.

I watched about 4 episodes of the Masches one afternoon. I was doing work in the office, and they had a marathon, so I got a good flavor of the show.
Horrors! Train wreck!

-------------------
This past Monday it was shown on the TLC website as a 2-hour episode on Monday, May 30 at 9:00 with a repeat at 11:00. Winsomeone also saw an ad on TV saying K+8 would be on May 30 at 9:00. However, now the TV listings are showing OutDaughtered on the 30th and nothing for Kate at all in the next two weeks.
Don't know if they changed their plans or if someone just stuck her in the lineup by mistake.
I wonder if Milo was DMing Kate with the hanging tweets in order to get sympathy -- "See, Kate, this is what I put up with because I love and support you."

I'd bet the farm and all of the sheep in the barnyard that this is exactly what she did!

Just odd that the "premier" has been dropped twice already. It looks like TLC's other venerable shows are launching their seasons left and right.
