The separate bedroom thing was a weird revelation and I think a revealing mistake on Kate's part. Why would Colin be in a separate room unless he was disruptive or dangerous to the other boys, or, frighteningly, he was kept in a separate place to control and isolate him.
IIRC, there are allegations that Kate has locked kids in their bedroom (one of the girls who couldn't get to the bathroom at night).

Yes, I always thought it was unsafe for little Alexis to sleep in the basement unless Jon was actually there too...she was said to wake up the other kids early which gave Hannah migraines...but I mentioned this a couple of days ago...the new bedroom for the boys in Room Swap was far away from Kate's, and a whole episode was filled around its construction. Could Collin have suddenly needed a separate bedroom so soon after that? Was it a sham bedroom remodel? I don't know what to think. How cruel to reveal this 'man cave' for the boys and then snatch Collin's part of the room away.IIRC Collin was missing for bits and pieces of this episode.

Did it ever occur to her that this is likely a huge part of his problem. When they revealed the boy's basement room, all 3 boys were there and they each had a private box in the wall for their secret stash. Was the extra room already to go and this was just a smokescreen and C wasn't able to stay in the room with his brothers?

I wonder if the deck had something to do with this. Remember, IIRC, she said the deck was for her kids health and welfare? How does that fit with C? Did she want the deck so he would have a nice place to sit and observe his brothers and sisters swimming and he couldn't participate?

I'm glad Kate finally looks like she cares about her pets, I really am. It was disturbing, to say the least, to see Kate scoff at the thought of her puppies and bitch about spending money to save Nala's life. But, my heart breaks now, knowing about Colin.
Seeing Kate so all consumed with her new shiny toys has turned a bit cringe-worthy for me.

I could be wrong, but on the room reveal, I swear Collin was not with hte other kids when they came home and Kate was excited to surprise them (snark) and also in the corridor he was absent. But yes, he was there to see the room which was very nice and definitely built for three boys.

Go and look back at all the photos of Colin covering his face when photogs were around him and his family. It's heartbreaking that Kate didn't stop the fame train right there and then.
Pitiful.
I didn't believe the story about Colin acting out in school when school pictures were being taken. I thought it was being blown out of proportion, but now, I can believe that he had a melt down and couldn't calm himself when he was made to sit in front of a school photo camera.
I wonder if he thinks very black and white. Colin wouldn't cross a hose or walk on grass for fear of getting dirty. His world, is perhaps, very rigid.
DH and I know a young boy/teen who is on the upper end of the spectrum. He is bothered by noise and commotion. Even sharp, hard noises like dragging a chair across a floor is noxious to him.
He's doing really well with therapy and meds. He knows his triggers and employs behavioral and cognitive mechanisms to ameliorate the offending stimuli, such as removing himself from a bunch of yaking adults and going somewhere quiet. He also is heavily into his (high exertion) sport, and by the heavy effort, exercise and focus he puts into it, he gets amazing benefits that lasts days.
His parents have worked really hard to find what works for him, and they have turned things around with the help of many professionals, and a change of schools.
They also love on their kids like nobody's business and see each one of them as individuals, separate from themselves.
Milo is really a piece of work. Apparently a "hater" made some comments on her post, and a sheeple was defending both Kate and Milo. The "haters" remarks were deleted, and then Milo weighed in, stating:

Stating that "he's a trooper, hard worker, etc." is Milo's way of acting like an insider. I like how she says Kate's decision will open "new doors" for Collin. It already has--right out of the Gosselin household.
Notice how she also includes @kateplusmy8 in both her posts. She's hoping Kate will commend her for sticking up for her. However, Kate has never commented on Milo's instagram account--but Milo will keep trying.

This nick_moy has been commenting multiple times on everything Kate posts on IG. Either a paid shill or serial sycophant. I find it curious what he says about Mady here. Mady doesn't "go public" without Mommy's say-so and script in hand. Is he that dumb?
Another thing with the boys room episode was when they went shopping for a bureau and it was mentioned that Collin always made sure he got the boxer underwear, and he was mortified. I think it was Alexis that was with him then. I also could not believe that 3 boys shared 1 dresser in that big old house. And Mady wanted her own room and voila! The younger girls lost their room and had to move to Mady and Cara's room so Mady could be accommodated. I can hardly wait to see the car.
And to further embarrass those icky boys by saying their room and bathroom smelled like boy. I hate to say what she smells like.

Tonight on All Things Considered on NPR they interviewed Gene Wilder's grandnephew. He said they would all go out to dinner at family type restaurants and kids would still recognize Wilder. The kids would be in awe and then so happy to see him. Wilder didn't want those kids' smiles ever taken away. He thought if his disease was public parents would keep the kids away from him or say how sad he's sick. So he wanted it private. They sounded like a close, loving family.

This is the part where I just shake my head. Per Kate, she has attributed this problem to not having a father. Without even going into all the B.S. about that like the parental alienation, even if TRUE, why wouldn't you also attribute his problems to a narcissistic mother, or filming and being a child celeb.

That reminds me, I was going to say it seems to me her pattern with problem children is to isolate them out from the pack. I have been suspicious from day one whether Collin really needs a separate bedroom, or if that just made it "easier" on Kate. My money is on the latter.

No one, not a single person, ever suggested it's shameful to get help for special needs or anything at all. That is NOT the issue and she darn well knows it.

If I'm remembering right, there was an extra bedroom available for Collin. During the room swap, the boys moved to the basement, the girl tups got the twins old room, and the twins were moved into their own rooms in the space the tups previously lived in. That part of the house had three bed/two bath.
It might have been a recommendation for Collin to have his own bedroom. Maybe he needs more control over his space and possessions rather than sharing with two others who can disrupt that. Perhaps he needs a place just to get away from all the chaos in that house. All the screaming and shoving in that house would sent me over the edge and I don't have any diagnose-able problems.

That's the thing about her show. Chaotic fun? Really? Lots of chaos, but I rarely saw a happy kid or kids who seemed to be enjoying being together, laughing, whatever. Lots of snide comments about one another---and Mommy---but not a whole lot of affection or enjoyment. If this is the "realest reality," it's pretty depressing.
I have also found watching the episodes that feature chaos, which is most of them, jarring. It is not fun or entertaining to witness it.
I'm a very low key person around the house and I was raised by mostly calm people who spoke to children in indoor voices and punished calmly and respectfully. There are no screamers in my family. That chaos drives me bonkers. I also think I am quite sensitive to it, more than the average person. I don't enjoy loud noises like fireworks or concerts. Yelling and screaming gives me anxiety. For anyone sensitive to that like Collin must be, that house must be hell.
I actually believe her the kids won't let her post photos of them on instagram. But that begs the question if they don't like their photos pleasured all over 80k mostly fake followers, why would they agree to film for 1.2 million mostly real viewers?
See, I think they're still not quite realizing the scope of this show. It's harder for a kid to quantify when you can't really see or interact with TV viewers like you do on social media. They can SEE all the likes and comments on instagram and that freaks out a kid going through the teen years. And it seems like for kids these days social media is their only point of reference.
I think we're coming into the most interesting time for this family in years, where the kids are finding their voices. In terms of the future I think it will be important for them to know there are people there who care about protecting children's privacy. At some point they are going to need their feelings validated by someone, as all former child stars likely want.

I hate the sound of a ringing cell phone that's not answered.
Car alarms drive me nuts.
My fridge makes a high pitched beeping noise if the door is not fully closed. Makes me cringe and go running to shut it!
And of course, fighting, screaming chaos is not something I handle well.

That's fair. My sense of her though is that this is deliberate. That she deliberately changes the subject, twists things around to suit herself and Kate, and plays victim. She moves the target around while you're trying to shoot because she does not play fair, that's just her M.O.
I think she is more manipulative and much less just generally out of it. And I think that's one reason she loves Kate so much, because Kate does the same thing, Kate operates socially the same....exact....way.
I cannot even imagine having to be around someone who's always trying to spin everything to their advantage. You couldn't get an objective story from Kate if you tried.

That's been very tangible to them, from losing their home, their school, their fun, their toys, their pool, their travel and their pets.
Anything outside of that isn't necessary for earning their keep.

She wouldn't be paying a dime of it. This would come out of the money that has been put into an account for the education and welfare of the kids. The thing is that if she keeps filming, and the kids get some of that money, they would be helping to fund his schooling and therapy, would they not?

But the talk was that he was covering his eyes so that he wouldn't get into trouble for making eye contact with the paps, or being friendly to them.

Yeah, poor guy was made so afraid of the "P people" that he covered his face as to not look at them. It must have been so confusing that filming was/is their life (hey, Kate's words,not mine!), and that involves cameras in their faces all the time, but other people with cameras are BAD.
I can imagine it must have been terrifying to go out to the bus stop or anywhere with Kate when they were all tabloid darlings.
Just when I thought I was done with the Gosselin mess I'm compelled to fly back into the fray. That witch has sold her soul along with her children. That she is using her son's difficulties to stay in the limelight is lower than I ever imagined she would go. We saw her banish everyone who challenged or disagreed with her -- Jon, Aunt Jodi, Beth, her whole family -- but strangely never considered she would do the same to one of her children. I hope C is getting the love, care and attention he obviously never received from his mother. My heart hurts for the seven who remain under her thumb.

I didn't realize that Kate likened Colin's inpatient treatment to sending a kid away to college.

If Hannah gave Alexis "the shirt off her back", then Hannah didn't like the shirt. The kids battle and melt down and compete all the time--Hannah wouldn't do that unless it benefitted her some way. What makes me sad is the fact that wherever Collin's new room is, it's still far away from his mother. The master bedroom in that house is removed from all the others, so it's not like she would be close by to tend to him. I wouldn't be at all surprised it he took one of the rooms upstairs, close to where Cara and Mady were moved. Cara was always very protective of Collin, so maybe having her close by would be a comfort to him. Cara always seemed to be the one there to comfort him, which makes me think he has had anxiety issues for a long time. I remember one episode (I think when the camera crew showed up after the divorce hiatus), Cara came up behind Collin and put her arms around him as the crew came in the door. I think the same thing happened when Katie Couric and her camera crew showed up. And when you consider all the times he put his hands over his face when there were cameras around, it seems likely that cameras do cause him great anxiety.
I truly hope that that's not the reason he was sent away--due to anxiety over cameras and filming. Considering that Jon was banished when he became an obstacle to filming, it's not hard to imagine that kate would do the same thing to Collin. She chose filming over Jon, would she do the same to Collin? Sadly, I think she would. People are expendable to her, filming is not.
Layla, I also remember on the RV trip, there was mention of Cara and Collin being "C" friends and did Lego building together as their special 'thing" (However Cara was behaving deplorably to Jamie's son Clay who was at the Lego table)

I think the picture of TFW popping Colin in the face when they were at the bus pickup is when she punished him for saying hi to a friendly pap.
She couldn't let that happen! The kids being friendly with the paparazzi? Then she would look like a liar! Because she always said that they were the devil and a huge problem.
That poor little boy had to make the decision to cover his eyes so he wouldn't upset his own mother.
It is not right for a small child to have to do a

We're talking about an 18 year old adult, it's consensual and a wonderful payoff for 13 years of hard work and it's the usually one of the most exciting times in a child's life. Jacob Roloff hated filming as well. When he turned 18 that was it he said no more and that was it. I think Molly can take it or leave preferring to leave it. She is bright and has a job in finance. The twin boys are in my opinion lazy and with no direction. One of the wives teaches school which is great, and the other one has a religious blog from what is said. Jacob hated his life on film from when he was little. Bless him that he gained his voice and quit.

I was without internet for a couple of days and I'm not caught up with the comments yet, so if this has been suggested, sorry for the repetition. It occurs to me that one reason TFMJG kept Collin from Jon is the possibility that Collin's behavior/functioning was deteriorating and she didn't want Jon to know about it. She was afraid he might do something that would interfere with her continuing to exploit the kids. Just a thought.

I don't think it's time yet. TLC usually trots her out a few days before they're going to air her show. For me, that's why the People piece coming out without her being on the foreseeable schedule was rather odd.

It is odd that the People article came out without the show being in the very near future. Usually she's trying to drum up some publicity for upcoming shows. Unless, of course, she's trying to use the publicity to get TLC's attention.
I would be willing to bet she has tried to line up as many talk shows and media appearances as she could find. She would love to cry and play martyr on TV again, just like she did in 2009. It's not her choice that she's not on the shows, and it's not her choice that the show isn't on the air. TLC doesn't want to air K+8, and the talk shows don't want her. Otherwise she'd be everywhere.

I can't remember whether he said this to the public or just to me, but I remember Jon saying that Collin covering his face was something he and Ellen had suggested he do when he was complaining about the paps upsetting him. In light of his special needs it feels especially cruel to throw a pap in his face. Something like that could be very unsettling to a child like that. Any loving parent would want to give them whatever suggestions they could to feel better when that happens.
As I recall, covering his face happened a lot at Jon's, from the pap photos.

And that's why in home treatment is so crucial. It does a child no good to stabilize them out of home only to send them back to chaos and an incapable parent.
There needs to be an in home care plan that Kate needs to be a part of. She's not going to be able to get out of this one. She's going to have to put in the hard work. Isn't she the one who said you get what you get and you don't get upset? This is what she got and she needs to be a grown up and deal with it.

I worked with what I perceived as one of the best families at co-parenting ever this year. The kids had two daddies and two mommies, there was no "step-parent". They enjoyed being at dad's, they enjoyed being at mom's. No one ever said anything bad about the other. Grandparents were involved, but when they were with the children they focused on the here and now and didn't question them about what's happening at the other parent's. They got therapy when the divorce first happened. They feel special being divorced kids because they get more presents, they brag to their friends. When they were missing their dad because they weren't spending enough time with him, the parents worked it out so they could spend more time. Time was carved out for a long vacation with the parent who didn't have custody during that entire time. Such sweet, well adjusted kids. I was literally choked up hearing all this, and the coolest thing I got to do was praise the parents for raising such great kids.
Mayim doesn't look at the divorce as a negative thing but rather a blessing which give potential for great happiness to grow. I think it's important to view it from that positive perspective. With that though you have to be a grown up and you have to let a lot of stuff go.

I think this goes back to her sociopathic tendencies. She truly can't feel the kind of deep pain a normal person would feel at this situation. She can only try to imagine some other situation where a child goes away, and college came to mind.
She understands going away and that that would make a parent sad. But because she cannot experience normal emotions, she is unable to realize that's a ridiculous comparison and not the same thing at all. To her it's all the same thing though, going away and sad. It really is like watching someone who doesn't experience emotions navigate the rest of the world who does--fascinating.

You know what? This entire fiasco of a marriage/family was completely predictable. Narcissistic Kate could only pair with a passive man. She could only tolerate someone she could control & manipulate. We already know she has nuked all other relationships when people fail to 'ask how they can help.' Jon just wasn't & isn't capable of fighting her. He's lost so many battles & been beaten into submission so many times.

Kate didn't believe in therapy. She refused to go when John wanted to go for marriage counseling. Of course she had lover boy Steve and had her mind set on divorce anyway, but I think she figured that she knew best - not some therapist who might side with Jon.
That's just an approximate estimate from when I was researching schools for my grandson & comparing facilities. The better the facility, the more they cost. Could be $130,000 or more depending upon the services. These facilities are not inexpensive and the kids are treated really well. My grandson came home & wants to return. He really enjoyed the structure, the one on one therapy, and all of the positive reinforcement.
I've been very busy at work and obsessed with Big Brother and America's Got Talent. Had to stop by after last week's People showed up in the mailbox with TFMJG on the cover. She is as boring as ever. Not sure I believe any statements attributed to the kids in that interview. My dd, the former fan, took one look and summed it up nicely. "FameWhore."

I'm pro-Dad and pro-Jon, but I've run hot and cold on him over the years. That's no secret. However, I've always believed him when he said that Kate did NOT want to fix her marriage, did NOT want to enter into *real* therapy with Jon, and that TLC was scrambling to save the show.
That included the sham marriage to Kate, with Kate telling Jon to sign a contract and he could do whatever he wanted, as long as he showed up for filming.
Jon, not being a good little boy, defied TLC and went out, partied and met women, and got caught.
Now, what was TLC to do? Well, circle their powerful wagons around Kate, save the show, and destroy Jon.
To this day, there are a lot of people who think he left, when he did not. They think he cheated on his wife, when really, the marriage was over and whatever people saw at the time was fakery for filming.

I went up to my local Giant store for some marjoram and while waiting to check out, I noticed that someone had taken copies of Country Living magazine and placed them in front of People magazine in each of the checkout lines. M & C are well into their teen years. And with TFW acting as their mother, BFF, and publicity agent, I think they are getting an intensely warped view of the world. That's right. TLC was showing episodes where Jon and Kate were together, but in reality their marriage was over and Jon was living outside the main home (above the garage has been stated) and the footage had been shot earlier, before the split. So people were seeing rag mag photos of Jon going out when the episodes airing had been filmed when they were still together. It's a point the fans either don't understand or refuse to admit.

It's called brainwashing. Kate has poisoned Mady's mind (and probably the rest of them) against Jon that they can't see the forest for the trees. It's the one thing that Kate is really, really good at accomplishing.
Mady used to be a nice, sweet kid...a bit spunky and sassy, but now she's turned into a mini-Kate and it's neither an attractive nor positive character trait. It certainly makes her look like a spoiled, mouthy brat.

At the time of the clam up interview they were still not filming and they had nothing bad they wanted to say about Jon. Now M is major resentful and, to me, doesn't want to say why. She has NEVER not said what was on her mind, no matter if it was hurtful or not. In fact, she seems to love to say hurtful things. Hummm, sound like someone she knows.

Possible. I thought that, too. I haven't seen the whole article, but haven't heard that any mention of when her show is due to air was in there. It's only a month away, supposedly.
I don't know, but if the reports of recent filming in FL were true (only one sighting, afaik), TLC is still churning out the episodes.

The barnyard has been all but abandoned. Kate's Twitter has gone from a porn-fest to just the regular haters beating the drum. Kate's old Twitter sheep seem to have jumped ship.

I think Kate let Jon's statement (true as it was) about his kids having challenges really get to her. I think she made a serious miscalculation by blasting Jon's words and downright lying.
There's no doubt that Jon spoke the truth, and Kate was once again farting rainbows.
Stuff like this, and the now public knowledge that TLC tried to bribe Jon to stay and film that sham marriage is so outrageous, that I don't get how Kate and her show still stand.
If all this stuff about Colin, and the real backstory of the demise of J+K+8 doesn't make people realize how Kate has lied and spun for years, I don't know what will.

I sort of do. I wonder if some of the kids are angry that Jon has been passive, or at least, ineffectual. They might be waiting for a grand gesture, for Jon to take the bull by the horns and get past all the obstacles Kate puts in the way.
For Jon to put his foot down and save them from having to make the choice between Mom and Dad-for him to make that choice for them.
Insisting that he see them might do just that.
I think they need to see Jon get MAD, and be on fire for them.
