Recap: Kate Plus 8 "Kate's Advice": Growing organic humans

Catching up on some recaps from episodes past. Enjoy!

Coming up, another low budget bottle episode full of old clips, in which Kate claims the older, wiser Kate is finally in a position to give advice to the younger, dumber Kate. It's kind of like the plot of Terminator 2 and Back to the Future, mixed in with a whole lot of idiocy, like, say, Zoolander.

Eh, Michael J. Fox did this whole go back in time thing so much cuter.

I guess what I have to say about the whole premise of this episode is that I really don't see the evidence Kate has changed all that much since the start of this series. I think she lets her kids walk all over her a bit more rather than ordering them about, but that's just because it's easier to order around a toddler when if they don't comply you can just yank their arm into submission. Not so easy with a teen. But, there's still pretty much the same level of yelling and screaming going on all the time, as far as I can tell. Kids still seem frequently unhappy, and often cast aside. She still plays favorites--if anything that's even worse. Her justice is unfair and nonsensical. She's still extremely disconnected from people, certainly her fans, and at times her own children. Her level of apparent disconnect from Collin's ongoing separation from the family is disturbing.

She's still very rude to people just there to help. She's still not really game to try new things. I guess I don't think she gets quite as angry all the time, but she still gets there enough where I can't say that issue has been resolved.

This is the thing, her mental illness is not going to change, or is unlikely to. It's not like Kate has to "learn" to be a better person. Her mental illness prevents her from doing so. She would need intensive therapy, possibly even medication, to change, and even then there's no guarantees. The big question missing from this whole episode, if you accept Kate's assertion she has changed (which, I don't, obviously), is why did Kate "change." What prompted it? People don't just change for no reason.

Anyhoo, this episode could of been a hell of a lot more interesting if they got into the why's and how's. Because the armchair psychologist in me sure wants to know how a 30 year old woman who is a liar, nasty, disconnected, angry, rude, unfair, and nonsensical, suddenly becomes not any of that by 40.

I forgot when this episode aired, but it feels like a redemption tour, trying to rebrand the new Kate. Who did she molest?! Well anyhow, I don't think it much worked. Ratings have been consistently pathetic for the past couple seasons.

First up, gum gate. The only redeeming value of this clip is that we get to talk all about Aunt Jodi! Woot! Of course today's Kate makes no mention of feeling regret about all the nasty things she said about Aunt Jodi, including "whatever possessed her." It was a golden opportunity to extend the tiniest bit of olive branch to Aunt Jodi and redeem the incident, and she blew it. It's hard to watch Collin so heartbroken over her threats to throw out his bear. Another child off camera seems upset too, remarking that their bear and Collin's bear play together every morning. Aw. Kate admits she good and darn well meant it when she said she would throw the bear out. That's scary, and a bit of an I told you so, since I'm sure the sheeple said she wasn't serious. In fact, she was. We see a softer side to Mady, gently stroking Collin's head, holding his hand and standing with him as he endures this, as if his priest or counsel. Mady was a compassionate child in tune with other's pain, and Kate's since beat it out of her. Kate says the public often asks her if Collin still has the bear. Yes, she says. This kind of repeated trauma to a child's psyche can have lasting consequences, as we now well know.

I'm hating this episode less than I expected, if only for the psychological aspect. Kate says the reason she was so upset about gum gate is because she is expending so much energy already, she can't have anything else piled onto that. That is a classic symptom of an anger management problem, in that whenever anything goes off script, which life invariably does all the time, the person can't handle it. People with anger management problems only budget for how they think their day will go. They never allow any leeway for outside forces. Hence, when an outside force does happen, they flip out. Anger management therapy can help someone like her learn to accept and cope with life's hiccups in a manner that is not going to damage your children.

Flashback to somebody vomiting. They've shown these kids vomiting so many times I couldn't begin to tell you when this was. Modern Kate attempts to convince us she has compassion, muttering, "oh, honey," sympathetically as she watches the clip. Heh. Modern Kate doesn't seem to have much of any advice for cold and calculating nurse Kate of yesteryear as old Kate methodically and melodramatically cleans up her weak and sickly toddler of all the vomit. Rather modern Kate says the house should have been designed with a sick room to keep everything in one place. Eureka!

A sick room, seriously? How Elizabethan. Well, heck, why not just get a pirate ship, and fly a yellow and black quarantine flag from its pole? You can send the kids off to it whenever they get queasy. It sounds a hell of a lot easier than the hassle of remodeling.

On a positive note, thank God the interns finally fixed the TLCgo player. Now not only does it hold your spot after you pause it, but I recently had to refresh it because I had shut down my computer, and it remembered where I last left off! Sounds like their summer program this year is off to a commanding start!

Aaden was purposely refusing to be potty trained. She knows this because he was laughing, says Kate. No words.

I'm kind of surprised they're so willingly showing clips of people Kate has estranged as it that didn't happen. Awkward! Next we see producer Jen Stocks, who once put Kate in her place about how demanding she was being (and how much Jen had accommodated her), get hit by a dirty diaper. She just didn't like this because she didn't have kids yet, explains Kate. Um, I really don't think having kids has anything to do with whether somebody wants a dirty diaper in their face. Also the way Kate remarks about how Jen has two kids now as if they keep in touch all the time? Bitch, please.

Did we lose the theme here, because I don't hear any advice to old Kate lately. The episode is quickly turning into Kate just getting an opportunity to qualify everything we see.

Flashback to the pudding body painting. Kate explains they must ask the other person if they would like to be painted. If they say yes, they may paint them. If they say no, they may not. The kids seem to understand. Well, I'll give Kate this. At least they understood consent at the ripe old age of four. I still don't hear any advice to old Kate.

Kate's loving talking so much about herself and her pea brain thoughts, I'm pretty embarrassed for her. She's rambling like a wife going over a long honey-do list. And this is pretty much me:

Ah, the New York City episode, which was the height of Kate's hoochie-mama stage. That era is long gone, thank goodness for small favors. Kate has no advice for New York City hoochie-Kate, who is freaking out in a gift shop (over, admittedly, a fair amount of creepy fans who are very rude about boundaries), because well, as usual, hoochie Kate did nothing whatsoever wrong.

A producer asks Kate if she regrets not documenting enough of the kids growing up. Wha-what? This producer has a sense of humor! Even more shocking, Kate actually regrets it! She claims she didn't tape enough! Lol, wtf?! She's certifiable. She has more photos and footage of her children capturing nearly every moment of their growing up years than most parents could make in a lifetime. We found out from Mady and Cara's sixteenth birthday party that the woman whipped out the camera and filmed the twins every single day until she signed on the dotted line with TLC and they took over. Well hells bells, I guess she's missing a bunch of streaming footage of them pooping on the potty and snoring away the night, so maybe that area is lacking. When are you going to watch all this boring crap anyway? Who wants to putz around all day watching old home movies, even of yourself? So stupid. It's great to have some video and photos here and there of the kids growing up that they will appreciate someday. But, to put it in perspective, if you only filmed your child for a total of an hour each year, by the end of their childhood you would have a whopping 18 hours of footage to watch. Who would ever honestly sit through that, much less the child? And at a certain point, your kids want you to just put away the technology and be present in the moment and stop thinking about freezing time so much. Also many kids are embarrassed by pictures. Is it really fair to constantly make them uncomfortable? And one more thing, less is more. One of my favorite, though cont
Sally Mann captures her look-alike son
roversial photographers, Sally Mann, has taken absolutely heart stopping photos of her gorgeous children through the years She's only released a handful of them after all this time, but each one is so perfect, you wouldn't need to see hundreds of others.  If you follow her at all, sadly her son passed away recently after a long struggle with mental illness. But she has photographs to treasure for the ages.

Oh, TLC, you can show the clip of Kate being rude to awesome Kiwi Brad as much as you darn well please. Carry on. Heh, my favorite part is when Kate pulls the "I'm a paying customer card!" like a brat, and Brad immediately retorts, actually if you were a paying customer, I never would have spent this much time on you. Baw!

They also show the clip where Kate promises to email Brad and apologize.

"I didn't," says modern Kate with a coy smile. Of course she didn't. She's not cute. She's not funny. She's rude, and even when she acknowledges she's rude, she won't make it right. You're not Shirley Temple, and a mischievous grin doesn't do anything for me here. She'll do it now, though. Except, she doesn't even really apologize, and still blames her rudeness all on fear. Fear explains her reluctance to jump off the building. It does not account for how mean she was. Plus, as if Brad is watching. He's probably never even seen his own episode much less any other of the hundreds out there.

Kate's not proud of her yelling, but.....does anyone really care about the but? Didn't think so.

Kate finds it very difficult to deal with the children when they won't own up to things they did or worse yet lie. Number one, it's pretty cotton picking normal for children to not own up to things, even lie. Some experts suggest that lying is a very normal part of childhood; a child is figuring out complex human interactions that sometimes will involve experimenting with mistruths. They even suggest parents need not even waste a moment stressing out over it or even really going out of your way to correct it, as constantly punishing a child can simply make a child lie all the more to avoid it. It would be unusual if a kid always told the truth. Plus, lying can be a good thing and frankly, adults do it all the time and need to learn when it's appropriate to do it and why. Kate couldn't be bothered to understand human interactions on a complex level or why lying can actually be a beneficial social skill.

Number two, and more importantly, her kids don't trust her or have the kind of relationship with her where they feel safe coming to her and unloading some truths on her. In the old days, they were probably just afraid of her wrath, the physical and verbal abuse. Now, they just don't see a need to let her in on anything because they have no respect for her nor any trust. Then and now, there's no substance to her relationship with them that would allow those doors to open. We all know Kate is lazy, but no area is she more lazy than parenting. She hasn't tried to learn anything about the psychology of children, or made any sincere attempts to try to understand why they are the way they are. She clearly doesn't care to know. In her mind, the kids don't do things because they have interesting kid brains that are fun for an adult to try to understand, rather they do things just to spite her. Her parenting style is, at best, antiquated and ineffective, at worst, abusive. Yet even with some minor adjustments here and there, adjustments she refuses to make, she could see a huge change.

It's been a long time since modern Kate gave old Kate advice. I think she enjoyed talking about herself so much she got off track. Talk about totally losing the thread!

She has a lot of nerve to talk about how exhausted she's been her whole life when the woman hasn't worked in years. She's clueless who her audience is.

Most parents would agree most of your life was lived exhausted, explains Kate. No, most parents would not necessarily agree. Get the whole family to bed earlier, get some regular exercise and eat right, and you'll be amazed.

I forgot how very upset Kate was about the stupid DVD player not working on the RV trip. Heaven forbid she'd have to come up with ways to entertain the children herself. She had an iPhone. Google "entertaining kids on road trips" and you'd have plenty of fun solutions that could last out weeks. She's so helpless! They don't show this part of the clip, but I also recall some of the kids saying they had really gotten movied-out after awhile, were so bored with watching TV. Geez. The microwave broke down too, laments Kate. So use the microwave in the other RV or go out to eat. Did it have a little stove? Most big RVs do. Heat up the food on the stove. It's not a big deal.

Kate emphasizes very strongly that the kids want to do another RV trip because the first one had too many things breaking down. Well, I don't believe her. Kids don't notice breakdowns like that. They have the ability to have fun and laugh over little hiccups much easier than adults do. They might even see a breakdown as something positive, as it will often lead them down a path less traveled. And, she makes the kids sound ungrateful. That road trip was a vacation of a lifetime and a broken microwave and DVD player ruined it? Talk about spoiled. You shouldn't be watching TV on vacation anyway, and half the fun of a great vacation is the local food. Shaking my head.

It's interesting watching the dramatics of pizza gate and the RVs breaking down again, because what I'm noticing the most is how upset Kate is when they have every resource available to them in the world to correct the problem without fanfare. The most glaring thing is that really the only thing the RV breakdowns robbed them of is a little time. It was a huge road trip anyway, so a few hours or even half a day really isn't that bad. Think about a normal family having a car breakdown. Maybe repairs are going to bleed them dry. Perhaps they don't have cell service to get help easily. The baby is hot and crying and there is no nanny to take her. Fixing the problem is all on Mom and Dad. There is no nanny, bodyguard, or production crew to help. It could really be disastrous, including financially, and thus, emotionally.

Kate had to wait and that's it. Production handled everything else. What an ungrateful piece of work.

Kate says it is now second nature not to be dramatic, because it wastes energy. I don't agree she has changed that much. But at least she's saying the right things.

Kate says she doesn't understand why it sort of ended up team Kate's RV versus the other RV. She creates divisions herself and insights competition in others, to a point where it's very unhealthy, so I have no clue why this would stump her so bad.

Kate doensn't understand why Jamie would give her an attitude. Because you were completely nasty to her from the beginning, why else? Jamie seemed nice enough to me, chill, and someone I wouldn't mind on vacation, until Kate came along. She is disappointed in her. Sorry, is Jamie twelve?

Jamie was on the trip in order to watch her kids and Kate's. Well, wait, what was Kate's job? What a tool!

A really nice shuttle finally pulls up to the breakdown. Thank you, whichever minion got that, Kate says. I see she was really paying attention to who was saving her butt here. Ungrateful bastard.

Kate hates watching cupcake gate. But she just said in the Game Night episode that the kids had a ball getting no cupcakes, laugh about it to this day. So which is it, it's an uncomfortable sad memory, or hilarious? She needs medication. Kate stands by what she did of course. What does it teach a kid when you let them have a cupcake before good food, she wonders. Um, that there are exceptions on birthdays because birthdays are special? My God, you're not going to ruin kids with one cupcake.

Kate says the weirdest things. She likes seeing my faces, referring to the kids. Heh, all I see myself is Jon's faces! Also, she's growing humans. Growing humans?? They're not a chia pet! Organic humans I would hope.

From what I gather of the Easter egg clip, since I don't remember much when I first saw the episode, is that Collin hustled, busted butt, and collected far more eggs than everyone else, and the other kids didn't like it (TOO BAD). This wasn't "fair" and Kate had to put caps on their egg count in future hunts. Wait a second, but I thought Kate encouraged competition, and winning. It seems rather confusing for a young child to encourage him to be as competitive as possible, watch him work hard and comply (and not do so by cheating that I can see, as the other lazier kids claim), and then imply he did something wrong gathering the most by capping him in future years. It sounds silly and insignificant to do something like that, but I truly think it could be very psychologically damaging because of the mixed messages she is sending. Pick one or the other--either encourage the kids to be competitive, or throttle them. But when you do both, it can very much disturb a child, especially a mentally fragile one.

That creepy clip where the kids have to eat a sandwich then crunchy things then fruit in some sort of bizarre order. Kate stands by that one too of course. What does it teach a kid when you let them eat whatever they want! she asks. Um, can I phone a friend. ..... And my friend says, to grow up and NOT become an anorexic??

A simpler solution would be to not pack dessert at all in lunches. They don't have to have it, they can get dessert after dinner. You don't need two desserts in one day. Plus kids tend to find cookies and cakes and other sugary things at school anyway regardless if you pack it. They'll be fine. That way if they leave their carrots in their lunch you don't feel like they ate a brownie instead of carrots. And that way you're not putting this all on a little kid to feel so controlled and guilt ridden. Again, it's just one little bizarre thing she did to them to mess with their psyche, but these things tend to add up.

Kate sucks at taking care of her beautiful property and always did. It's getting really annoying when Kate keeps saying in a sing-song voice she wants them back! Referring to the children when they were younger. Shut up.

The boys are never around to help. I have no idea what she's talking about. She really is a man eater. And what a tool the off camera producer is to encourage this lie, remarking that the boys never seem to be around when help is needed. That's not flipping true! They were probably out at the chicken coop shoveling poop while you were off filming somewhere, or cleaning toilets or all the other shit Kendra told us they had to do, so STFU!

Out of character for Kate, she praises the cake baker by name, remarking she has never let her down. Well, that is a nice comment and good promotion for Marcia. If she took care to do that a little more often over all these years instead of bellyaching about everyone who has ever made her life so much easier, she would be infinitely more likable.

The kids are more self-sufficient now, Kate says. They've been self-sufficient for like five years. Geez!

Kate never would have believed she'd still be sitting in this interview chair 10 years ago. Bullshit, she has intended to film until they are 18 since day one, and probably beyond 18. The way other shows have transitioned their child reality stars to adulthood by creating series out of marriages and babies, only gives her more inspiration. She won't stop until TLC makes her stop.

Kate thanks viewers and fans of the show. Haha, I guess we are the viewers, and the sheeple are the fans? I truly don't remember Kate ever thanking viewers and fans. Or at least it's been rare. She actually says it took her several years to connect that things would have been very different without the viewers. Um, is she stupid, or just dumb? Your viewers and ratings should be your absolute number one priority when making a show, any show, assuming your goal is to have a successful show and you're not just making a film for your personal use.

The one redeeming thing about this episode, the children didn't have to do any work for it they hadn't already done.

On the TLC site the description of the July 17 show is "Spring break takes Kate and her 8 to Vermont...". Her 8? That appears to include Collin, but of course TLC might just be trying to fool people into watching. There are plenty of people who are curious about his absence. I don't think they are above lying to draw people in, but the reaction if he's not there will not be positive.
-----------------

Maybe they're including Steve or a nanny in the "8".

When John Q. or Jane Q. Public actually tunes into this snoozefest, aren't they by now picking up on the fact that it is basically a travel show? A family takes trips and TLC films them? It doesn't fit in with the rest of the network's shows.

(or piecing and patching) to provide these special trips for her kids?
It's scary to think that some people still buy into her struggling single mom shtick.

Well they can't very well say Kate and her 7 because it doesn't rhyme and then they'd have to rename the show and her image would be ruined OR some intern wrote the blurb and didn't realize that Marley wasn't one of hers OR maybe they took Collin on vacation with them and filmed the hell out of him. All for his wellbeing of course and the sake of the show. If they're going to continue to call it Kate Plus 8 the 8th one better damn well show up for filming every now and then because it's probably in the contract and she's a contract honorer.

That looked to be a professional display and not just the family shooting off a couple of bottle rockets in the yard.

TLC is getting really cutsey with their episode titles. Must be the intern summer program hard at work. Personally I like the simplicity of prior titles, when things just basically told it like it is, "Gosselin go to the bathroom" and similar descriptions.

I do like the title they gave this episode. They should just rename the whole series "Kate Gosselin is a mother...sort of...".

Kate's never been clear about how her fireworks come to fruition. Maybe Steve?
We had people setting off HUGE displays in our neighborhood last night.
Some whoppers!

&&&&

Our neighborhood was nuts this year too! I think this holiday gets bigger and bigger every year. One guy had a constantly display of various fireworks that went on over 45 minutes and rivaled the community display we went to.

I heard from the owner that my new house, the Kravitz house, is in a neighborhood where Fourth of July is pretty much the biggest holiday of the year times 100. Joy.

That's our neighbor's party. Big turnout this year.
HUGE blow up water slide for the kids. I think they hired someone to man the grill.
It was awesome and it's such a big undertaking.
It's wonderful to take the time and occasion to connect to neighbors.
They do the same thing for Christmas!

Whose stupid idea was it to potty train the toddlers when they've got diarrhea? And why would they film it to be aired on national TV?

$$$

These parents strike me as hopelessly immature and self absorbed. I love how they potty train because they're tired of blow outs. Not, because the girls are physically and emotionally ready for it. If you don't want to put up with some blow outs, don't have a kid. Also, there's a much simpler solution--try a different diaper brand or size. Usually such messes are fault equipment or improper fit.

At over two years old the Busby quints are physically and (probably) emotionally old enough to be potty trained (IMO) and I'm sure some were ready before now. It should not be done on television for anyone's entertainment and I have to wonder if the parents held out on doing it so that they could make it into an episode.

Couldn't agree more. I don't follow them or watch the show but I did read their FB at the beginning of their fame and saw the signs. To me the dad is not likeable and Danielle seems kind of bossy. They also seem to have that sense of superiority that goes with some HOM families, ahem

FlimsyFlamsy said...

Sue (#19), good point. It seems to me that these parents are 100% ready and willing to let TLC dictate the trajectory of their lives, and consequently, the lives of their daughters.
If they were A-okay with having cameras involved in something so personal and sensitive as a their baby's eye surgery, that made it clear there is probably nothing off limits.

Can't we all predict upcoming episodes? Disney World? Halloween? Hiring babysitter/housekeeper? Room renovations? Makeover for Mom? Busbys Give Back? Oy vey.

Duggar ratings for Monday, 1.38mm viewers, basically unchanged from the previous week. 0.34 share in key demographic, ranked 11th out of 150 cable offerings. So, not bad. But nothing like the glory days, and not improving from the high of the first episode. Wonder if having them as the lead-in will help or hurt K8.

Eh, it's not too early to start, but closer to 3 is more like it for kids to be fully trained (going through it right now!). All kids are different.

Do it on television? Nope. Never. Why would any parent expose the toilet habits of their child like that?

I can't imagine doing what Jon and Kate did in selling their own children, but it reminds me of something a college professor said to us in class, many years ago.
We were discussing the legal aspects of practicing in healthcare and having private practices. In particular, we were learning about things such as malfeasance vs. malpractice and sweetheart deals.
I remember thinking, "I would NEVER do that!!". "I would never be unethical".
Many of muttered aloud, sotto voce.
But, alas, she waved her finger in a "not so fast" sort of way, and said, "Everyone has a price".

All these years later, it has stayed with me.

With more maturity and wisdom, I realize, she was right.

I think Counting On is a very strong lead-in for K+8. The Duggars have a very loyal following, so the same numbers will probably tune in each week for the show. If K+8 doesn't do well with Counting On as a lead-in and summer break (a lot of K+8's fans are younger), then the show is beyond hope. But I do think summer break will result in a boost in ratings. We'll see.

Yes, all kids are different but mine was fully potty trained (no diaper at night and no accidents) closer to two. Maybe it was because he was in day care and wanted to be like the other kids. It made it easy on us because we were stationed in Germany and didn't have to cart diapers with us whenever we traveled.

Kids end up being ready at different times and girls seem to be ready quicker than boys. My issue is not whether they are ready, but the implication that the father is training them because he's sick of diaper blowouts. That's a very immature reason to begin potty training. You potty train when it is best for the child, not when it's convenient for the parent. And with multiples, they may not all be ready at once.

Their how we met story is the most immature thing I've ever read. The way the guy was playing games with her, she should have been running for the hills. Red flags all over that, and my suspicion would be he's gay. But he's too religious to acknowledge it.

Douchey Daddy Busby sounds as warm about parenting as TFW. How dare his children inconvenience him
with their scattershot bowel habits! I hope he's not expecting his girls to be potty trained within 48 hours, like she did with A.

I don't know what's worse: if the parents picked this arbitrary time -- ready or not -- to start potty-training their girls, or if this decision was dictated by a story editor at TLC.

Alice Pearce was my favorite Gladys because she was the first one I saw. I loved her ridiculous facial expressions lol, and her chemistry with her husband. I always picture our Gladys to be just as shocked when she comes across something as benign as "I don't like Kate." What a tragic end. Her Wikipedia says she worked throughout her illness, keeping it a secret, and won an Emmy after her death. And who better to give the Emmy to than the best portrayal of a nosy neighbor in tv history!

Mom must be so excited! Maybe they can invite him over, and TFW and Uncle Ronnie and Aunt Deanna can vet him, and then go on a TLC-filmed date! For 10 years the poor kid was subjected to "M is a b*tch" Google searches, and now she's gotten a marriage proposal from a total stranger. See what happens when your life is your show and your show is your life, TFW?

Lots of luck trying to figure out how to handle a total stranger who is OBSESSED with your 16-year old daughter.

RoxyHelen said...

These kind of messages aren't new. Back in the day there was some guy making similar comments about Alexis. If Kate didn't stop the show after that guy turned out to be a pedophile, some message isn't going to make her do it. If Jon allowed the kids to be filmed again after saying that he is aware that he put them out there for every pedophile, some message wasn't going to make the difference, even if it refered to their 5-6 year old daughter.

So is there a chance Collin filmed with the rest of the family based on that episode description? I frankly don't see how, someone would have snapped a picture and posted it online.

MikeB said...

TLC apparently has faith in Kate's show by putting these three episodes right into the middle of the Nielsen July Sweeps period which runs from June 29 - July 26.

A couple of past seasons have either partially started or ended during a sweeps period, but this will be the first time the entire season (admittedly only 3 shows) falls entirely during a major ratings period.

This could backfire quickly if the ratings don't meet expectations.

Go get me a rolling pin from the drawer! 911! Now!

There was no reason for her to roll the rolling pin on the wrapping paper.

The girl said she wanted a Christmas gift costume. Mom wants her to have a Halloween gift costume and went to the store and got the supplies to make it.

This reminds me of her turning down Alexis a backpack with a iguana on it. She wanted her to have a girly bag. She relives her childhood through these kids everyday.

And gets paid to do it.

Oh my, I watched the preview for the tups' birthday episode on Entertainment Tonight's Facebook page, and it is ridiculous! Kate is freaking out about wrapping presents. She's yelling at Leah to bring her a rolling pin. Who uses a rolling pin to wrap presents? Kate is getting all stressed and freaked out because "it's not perfect enough". Really, Kate? That's just ridiculous--it's clearly manufactured drama. Just like M&C's 16th birthday, she has to create major drama because she has to A) try to make a stupid birthday party look interesting, and B) make it all about her. Absolutely ridiculous. It's a gift. The kids are interested in what is in the package, not how perfectly it's wrapped.

Okay, I did see a different video than the one linked above. I went to the ET Facebook page and found it by clicking on"videos". The one I saw was shorter, and the hosts were talking about the show. They mentioned Jon taking his trip with Colleen, that the 4 tups celebrated their birthday with him separately (and had a picture of the cake--with all 6 tups' names on it), and a few more things that were interesting. They said the show was cancelled last September but that TLC had promised fans updates and that the result is 3 new episodes starting Monday, and they said that Jon lost his bid for legal custody last year. I wonder where they got that information? It's very interesting if it's true.

A couple things I noticed--all 3 tup girls have braces, and we know Aaden does, but Joel? They didn't really show him, so maybe he got them too. No sign of Cara. And did you see all those bottles of wine in the rack behind Kate as she's wrapping the present/costume? Wow!

NJGal51 (#52), I think TFW exposed herself as completely devoid of the protective gene when her response to Bill Blankinship was, "NEVER HEARD OF HIM!" This man was a film editor who had unfettered access to footage of her children in various stages of undress (including completely nude), and his being charged as a pedophile led her only to try to absolve herself of guilt. Any mother with a protective bone in her body would've been sickened at the thought.

If it's true she was cancelled roughly 10 months ago, then she's certainly kept mum about it. I wonder if her ratings for the late fall 2016 shows (poor as they were) were a factor in going ahead with the skiing vacation. That, and there's another layer of a kid learning to behave like that for these kids, that being these kids are on public display. So now it's not just the recipient thinking, dang what a rude and disrespectful kid, and then they go on with their life. It's 1.0 odd million viewers. That, in my opinion, is abuse.

I hesitate to say "kids today" but I can't believe the way they talk to production, or the various other people in their lives. If I did an eyeroll like that to an elder of mine at that age I'd get an ass whooping. You just didn't go there.

The reason the girls are so rude to each other and others is because they've grown up with a mother who is ALWAYS rude to them. She is constantly yelling and barking orders at the kids to "do / hand her X NOW!" instead of actually asking them NORMALLY.

OH yeah, we've said this for years. The kids will and have learned how to behave by modeling parents. Far more than what you actually "teach" kids, they learn by watching. It is not surprise some of them are as sour as Kate.

Alexis stated she hates when everyone's 'tired'- read fighting. L and H seemed to disregard A say that things don't have to be perfect, good enough is pretty good.(H said I don't agree with that) A asked L what she was ( for Halloween- wouldn't she know?)

Leah said Kate got Halloween costume materials with her 'approval.' I did not like how H and L seem to be becoming like Mady.

There was a stout lady in the kitchen- head not shown- Jamie? Latest helper ?

And I thought Kate's decorations above the wine were horrible- an orange thing, a blue thing, a mustache thing,a duck decoy ??

And there was some hitting and face -making, too.

That's a lot of negatives for a very short clip!

Summer isn't the hottest time for TV even during sweeps. Often it's a landing zone for test runs or leftovers, though cable channels seem to take advantage of quiet network TV to air some of their bigger guns.

I think what's telling is they are parsing down the number of episodes. Only 3 means if anything goes catastrophically wrong, they're not out too much.

I have a funny feeling their new strategy is to ration. Create longer periods between airings and less episodes to try to build interest. Their bread and butter isn't going to be quantity with this show, like it seems to be with a show like Little People or the Duggars. I know we say this over and over but this really could be one of their last strategy efforts to see if they can milk any more curds out of this shitshow. At a certain point you squeeze the teat so much it gets all chapped.

Yes. And as we have discussed here recently and before, the format of Kate's show versus some of the other much more popular shows is very different. Kate's show's format is to put the family in stressful situations and watch them implode. Often that's a vacation or an event like a birthday.

Other TLC shows have more of an arc, they build tension and suspense over the course of a long season. You can't just tune in once because you wouldn't know what happened before. Amy and Matt dating different people, Zack and Tori's pregnancy and baby, Jeremy and what's her face moving and buying a house and getting knocked up themselves. Kate has no story line to follow let alone an interesting one. None. A lot of that is on her frankly, not thinking of things she could do that would generate interest (get a boyfriend, a new job, start a business, something, anything that would create interest)

Sorry, not happening. If you want to go trick or treating at that age, you can make it or put something together.

I remember going out as a "gypsy" (sorry it's not PC nowadays) with a long skirt, a babushka on my head and lots of costume jewelry.

Are they actually going door to door? I didn't see the preview.

Same every single place I've ever lived. It's quite frowned upon for teens to go trick-or-treating, unless they are accompanying a smaller child like a younger sibling. I thought the idea was that people spend a lot of money and effort on treats, and teens because they are older can tear through several miles of neighborhoods collecting bags and bags of candy, making the neighbors run out and taking away from the slower paced younger kids. As well as the potential dangers of huge group ups of big older kids, as teens tend to do, running into the little ones or otherwise creating unsafe or disproportionate situations. I was a tall kid, and went trick or treating up until about 12 or so. I remember approaching 11 and 12 I had several neighbors remark with a half smile we were getting too old for this now aren't we? Point taken.

Kids these kids' ages are certainly welcome to celebrate Halloween, but it's more appropriately done by having a party or sleepover, with costumes of course.

In the baking drawer, I MEAN IT!!!

By th...(Much Louder) Hurry it up, IT IS NOT FUNNY!!!

Camera shows Leah walking around slumped over and complaining about being tired.

Alexis: STOP! I hate it when I am really tired!

Hurry Up, RUN! Her hand is outstretched.

Right before she grabs the rolling pin, she shakes her head, side to side and lets out a gasp.

She grabs the rolling pin and a barely audible "thank you" is heard as she immediately tackles "ironing out" the wrinkles on the wrapping paper.

She paid for all that drama.

She said that she wanted it perfect and asked someone, right next to the camera to please hand her a roll of paper. Very nicely.

Oh, and the kicker? Guess who brought it to her? Hannah!

I believe it was very late at night for these kids to be filming this. They were all very tired. On the couch interview, they were not as tired as when they filmed it. Which proves they did the couch scene much later.

I wonder if TFW tried to pitch herself for a crossover episode with the Busbys? She'd never want them within 10 feet of her show, but I could just see her "offering" (read: paycheck/airtime) to go on their show to give advice on having a houseful of toddlers. And remember: TFW had SIX kids at once, while she already had TWO! And now she does it ALONE! She wins!

This is about Samantha's necklace and the painting on the wall next to the front door.

I loved that necklace. There is a scene where Samantha is dressed beautifully and has the necklace on. This was the first year, I think. She was absolutely stunning.

I used a link to go and watch the preview of the Halloween show. I went to ET's website. I clicked on videos and there were many to choose from.

But what horrified me was that there was a grid of videos and there, right in the middle was the tup girls they were surrounded by all adults. Above them was Black Chyna.

She was lying in bed with the sheet barely covering her breasts and her hands are barely on them. Then the tup girls, then another awful picture but I can't remember who it was.

I went to the ET website and they have changed everything.

Kate is a Twit, if you find this, the rumspringa is on me!

I just can't believe that she would expose her children to the world like this and their picture and video surrounded by awful pictures like that.

I have been trying to find the little clip of TFW walking fast, with Steve I think and someone asked her about BBship and she said, never heard of him.

Jon said that he and her met him a couple of times. He was upset about it. But she doesn't care. As long as she is able to film, get paid for it, she doesn't care.

At. All.

Yes, kids their age can definitely put together decent costumes. The best one I ever did was when I was a teen. I had to take my little sisters out trick-or-treating, so I decided to dress up. I went as Minnie Pearl (from Hee Haw) I wore an old granny dress, a straw hat with fake fruit around the brim, and of course a price tag dangling from it. Upswept hair, granny shoes. I had dozens of people taking pictures. Good times, and minimal effort.

The over-the-top behavior from Kate and the girls reminds me of the RV episodes. This is a family that has made millions off their show. They can afford a caterer, and why wait til crisis tine to make costumes? Make them ahead of time, or just buy them. One of the tup girls sent Kate a link to buy a costume online, but of course that would be too easy. TLC just had to provoke the most stress and worst behavior possible. That's just abusive, putting the kids into those kinds of situations over and over. And all for entertainment. That's sick.

This happened a few years ago, but it reminds me of TFW.
The son and daughter of a woman named Marianne Theresa Johnson-Reddick were neglected and abused their whole lives by their mother. When she passed, they wrote a scathing obituary. They suffered trauma and lived in fear of her, even as adults.

Completely unrepentant, Patrick Reddick, 58, says he can finally breathe easy knowing mother Marianne Theresa Johnson-Reddick, 78, is dead.
She terrorized him so much that even when he went to see her a week before she died he insisted doctors sedate her - and wore sunglasses as a disguise in case she woke up.
He and his other brothers and sisters are now planning a celebration at the end of the month where they will toast the passing of the woman they accused of being a monster.
Marianne Theresa Johnson-Reddick, born January 4, 1935, died last month, to the relief and comfort of the children whom she spent a lifetime (in their words) "torturing in every way possible." Those children, now grown, marked her passing by submitting the most chilling obituary you will ever read to her local newspaper, the Reno Gazette-Journal.

The obituary is as follows-
Marianne Theresa Johnson-Reddick born Jan 4, 1935 and died alone on Aug. 30, 2013. She is survived by her 6 of 8 children whom she spent her lifetime torturing in every way possible. While she neglected and abused her small children, she refused to allow anyone else to care or show compassion towards them. When they became adults she stalked and tortured anyone they dared to love. Everyone she met, adult or child was tortured by her cruelty and exposure to violence, criminal activity, vulgarity, and hatred of the gentle or kind human spirit.
On behalf of her children whom she so abrasively exposed to her evil and violent life, we celebrate her passing from this earth and hope she lives in the after-life reliving each gesture of violence, cruelty, and shame that she delivered on her children. Her surviving children will now live the rest of their lives with the peace of knowing their nightmare finally has some form of closure.

Ouch!
The obituary is a reminder to always be kind to your children.

Gigi Be (#104), talk about a cautionary tale for TFW. With all of her yammering about "making memories," she ought to be careful what she wishes for.

I was struck by the part about the mother keeping other loving people away from her kids. TFW's alienating most of the children from their father (not to mention Aunt Jodi, Beth, and who knows how many others) is an ideal example of that.

This is just mindboggling. He is still trying to profit off what he did to his sisters and the babysitter.
He sounds like a spoiled, entitled teenager.

Can't wait till InTouch's answer to the lawsuit is released.

From Duggar FB Pickles.
Josh filed another lawsuit on Thursday against InTouch magazine. He withdrew from his victims' lawsuit only to create one for himself.

Josh was an adult when the police report was written and released. He and his parents got lucky they weren't charged with a crime due to the statute of limitations. Josh claimed he had to hire 24 hour security due to death threats. I hope he can prove his need for security. I'm sure he's looking for compensation for that plus lost wages.

Josh trying to profit off his crimes has got to be a mortal sin. I've already given him the moral and righteous Christian path to redeem himself but he would rather lash out in an unchristian manner. Josh is a lost soul. It's too bad he doesn't have at least one sane voice in his life helping to lead him in the right direction. Josh just keeps digging his own grave over and over and over.

Welcome to the family, Samuel Scott!

We are excited to finally announce the arrival of Samuel Scott Dillard! The newest addition to our family arrived on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 1:02 p.m.

He weighs 9 lb. 10 oz. and is 22 inches ong. After 40 hours of labor, he was delivered via C-section at the hospital. Thank you for your continued prayers and support!

Sounds more like 39 hours at the birth house, 1 hour at the hospital and then
C-section. Her mother has already nearly died giving birth to Josie and Josie almost died! Then Jubilee did die!!!! Anna had her baby boy in the toilet!!! Jessa almost bled out with her first baby!!! Jessa had her baby on the couch of the birth house!!! They use an incompetent baby deliver. She doesn't deserve the title of Midwife. These people are nuts!

911 emergency! Run! Now! All for a homemade Halloween costume that completely stressed Kate to sweating. (Her words.)

What panic words has she saved for a real emergency -- like a cooking fire in the kitchen? She has cried crisis wolf for years with those kids.

My mother would never have gotten involved with a costume for any of her children. Older sisters helped younger sisters. I would have helped my son with a complicated costume -- if he asked. But, never would I or my mom have melted into a puddle of fatigue and stress over covering a cardboard box.

And, she went SHOPPING for the materials. Those kind of purchases would not be made in a piecing and patching family.

That clip confirmed that nothing has changed and I am glad that I haven't spent any time watching a whole hour of her shenanigans.

The story line is about having a Halloween party in the barn. The same barn where they kept the chickens. Now, you'd think they (TLC) would have someone clean up the area really well so they're not walking among chicken droppings, but then Kate claimed they planted their garden (next to the same barn) in chicken poop. So, the chicken mess was still all around the barn where people would probably be walking the night of the party? Kate stressed over making a perfect costume for the party but didn't bother to clean up all the chicken poop for the same party. Priorities?

It's not just moms who "go through" things. Moms can also be a major contributing factor, if not the sole cause, of issues that their children may be facing. This is what is happening in the Gosselin family and the fans/sheeple are choosing not to notice it. Have Milo and Barb ever thought about what Kate's SON, who was SENT AWAY, is going through? C DID NOT choose to face the challenges he is facing. Kate DID choose the reality TV lifestyle and therefore she should STFU and deal with the negative effects it has had on HER WHOLE FAMILY.

Change the evil mother's name and subtract 2 kids and I saw images of my own life in that obituary with the exception Bridget died really alone while taking a nap on the couch. Only my sister went to her funeral and only to check on how many friends and neighbors would attend. Sis and priest were the only one's who showed up. No one misses her and we all felt relief when she was finally gone. She was a nasty woman who had great kids and good neighbors who helped her only because they were afraid of her.
She succeeded in dividing and conquering her children. We haven't seen each other for decades.
I hope this doesn't happen to the G kids, although they way Kate has divided the boys from the girls and the twins from the sextuplets (lording it over them) it will probably leave it's mark on one or more (thinking of Collin) poor beautiful boy.

You know what I don't understand? We all watched the exact same episodes of J and K + 8 so how in hell can some people deny facts caught on camera? How are they going around saying Kate did everything and Jon was a deadbeat who spend his days out with women? It's right there on tape, Kate saying: "Jon gives the baths, Jon dresses the kids, Jon puts the kids to bed, Jon gets the girls ready for school, Jon plays with them, Jon serves the kids at the table Jon puts shoes on, Jon takes the kids to the car, Jon straps the kids in their seats". Kate SAID all those things and we saw them all on tape. So it puzzles me that the sheeple are claiming it was all on Kate all the time. Anybody got an explanation? Is this some kind of brainwashing? But if the sheeple watch, as they claim, the old episodes all the time, are they not seeing these things?

Tucker's Mom said...

Jon worked his butt off raising all those kids. He's still be pulling his weigh and more if they remained married.
When parents divorce, kids generally live with one parent and visit the other. Generally, live with mom and visit dad.
The fact that the fans follow Kate's cues and diminish, if not eradicate Jon's place and role in the kids' lives is typical of sheep.
The twins are immature and brainwashed by Kate and have chosen to cut their father from their lives as only the daughters of Kate Gosselin could.
Anyone who supports that or thinks it good, or normal, is a sick individual.

Very interesting.
So, it seems perhaps TLC is simply stringing out season 5. You know, it might make sense when you think about how TLC delayed the release of the episodes last year. I wondered why they would announce April, but not air until months later.
Maybe they were figuring out what to do.
With Collin gone, really gone, do you sign another season of Kate Plus "8"?
TLC might very well know, or really think at this point, that there isn't going to be "8" anymore.

When was the last time Kate cut someone out of her life, and then brought them back?

Last year my neighbors set off fireworks every night in July, weeknights too. Not only was my dog in agony, but it was starting to get dangerous, because they would do so in the middle of the street where people walked or drove by all the time.

I finally had enough. I printed a local ordinance that says fireworks are only permitted on July 4, and stuck it in their mailbox. I didn't include a note or anything, but I think they got the message. They ceased immediately.

FlimsyFlamsy said...

Admin (#143), you said, "You don't get 'kudos' for interfering with nature." I can think of a formerly porcupine-haired shrew from PA who found out otherwise.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Someone who tries to help the sick or injured animal certainly gets kudos from me, regardless of whether the situation happened "naturally." Just because you would keep on driving doesn't mean it is the "better" thing to do. Are you opposed to the NICU? Babies require medical intervention all the time. Should the parents just let nature take its course and watch them die?

&&&&&

Humans are not animals. Animals are part of a complicated interconnected network where everything that happens affects other species.

The problem with interfering with animals dying of natural causes is that you take great risk in disrupting the ecosystem and the natural balance. For one example, the imbalance of deer is a huge problem where I'm from. If deer were "rescued" every time, it could have catastrophic affects on the natural balance. The problem is bad enough as it is.

I'm not opposed to things like the Australia Zoo's animal hospital, because they rescue koalas hit by cars and turtles tangled up in garbage. That's not natural deaths, that's humans's fault.

Talk to any zoologist or wildlife biologist. They will tell you it is reckless, dangerous, unwise, to interfere with natural deaths in the wild. You simply DON'T DO IT. So no, she doesn't get "kudos." It's a personal choice to intervene, and one that comes with consequences if you choose to intervene you better be darn sure you are aware of. Doubt she is.

On a side note, I have called animal control and the humane society various times, to really very little help. I was told to leave kittens I found without a mother, that if I brought them in they would euthanize them. Their "relocation" program for our massive skunk problem involved dumping them a couple miles away. They came right back, so now they won't touch them. They are not the most intervening of agencies, in my experience, and indeed seem to be of the philosophy "let well enough alone."

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Unweaned kittens without a mother require round the clock bottle-feeding which most shelters do not have the staffing to provide. That is the reason that unweaned kittens are all too often euthanized. It has nothing to do with the "leave well enough alone" philosophy. It is a resource issue.

&&&&

If that were the case they would have given me instructions how to care for them and asked if I wanted to take it on. Instead they told me to walk away.

In any case, what is your response to the experts who tell you to leave animals alone in the wild, dying or not? Do you disagree with the experts? Do you think people who are clueless still should get kudos for disrupting the ecosystem?

Problem is, a lot of people can't think beyond the tip of their nose. Yes, of course, if you see a dying baby animal, your instinct is to help. That's the simple answer. That's the easy way. Sometimes, the better thing to do for the good of everyone is much harder, but is the correct thing to do in the end. It may sting and hurt in the short term. In today's society, it seems that many people can't understand why a little pain or strictness is better upfront versus a lot later. That goes for politics too, and that outlandish accusation that certain views are heartless, etc., when often those who holds those views are simply looking beyond THAT MOMENT and what feels good RIGHT THEN to the greater benefit in the end.

If we all lived life by what makes US feel good in that moment, that would be one scary place. Thank goodness some people play chess instead of checkers or we'd be in a world of hurt.

Like I said, I'm not going to stop you if you want to pick up some baby birds. But I'm also not going to pat you on the back for it either. Checker players don't deserve a back pat. And you should certainly not look down upon someone who plays chess and makes the choice to let nature be, or imply they are heartless, as Milo does.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

I wonder if this means Kate will have to explain in a little more about why she got rid of the chickens. I'm looking forward to that explanation.

I don't think I'm going to be arrested when these people have been setting off fireworks for 30 days straight and creating unsafe conditions in a nice neighborhood. I think the cops will make an exception.

Maybe they just weren't aware of the local ordinance, and I appreciate that once they saw the ordinance, they stopped.

I've never heard of them enforcing this law for just a one or two time reminder to a neighbor. The intent behind it is probably to ensure that people aren't sending out constant nuisance mailers without properly going through the mail system, or trying to get around putting a stamp on a letter. Not for a simple, hey guys could you please knock it off? I'll take the risk.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Whoever knowingly and willfully deposits any mailable matter such as statements of accounts, circulars, sale bills, or other like matter, on which no postage has been paid, in any letter box established, approved, or accepted by the Postal Service for the receipt or delivery of mail matter on any mail route with intent to avoid payment of lawful postage thereon, shall for each such offense be fined under this title.

****

Legal Eagle read the statute carefully. I'm glad I did. You have to have the intent to AVOID postage. My intent was not to avoid postage. I live next door, and could have just as easily stuck it to their door, under the door, taped to the door or window, or put it under a doormat. I'm not avoiding postage, I'm simply trying to make sure they get it and it doesn't blow away.

No intent, no breaking the law. Free and clear here.

Legal Eagle said...

Of course you're not going to be arrested. It's just funny, breaking one law in complaining about another law being broken.

Fireworks out this far from 4th of July is baloney. Enough is enough.
In some places, you're lucky enough to get your jollies legally, but it's beyond disrespectful to shoot them off for days after.
My dogs were pretty good, considering we had BIG fireworks going off with some neighbors putting on shows for kids.
All find and good. They lasted a couple hours and everyone was very responsible in cleaning up the next day.

But I wasn't breaking the law. Read the text of it. It does not say it's a felony to merely put something in someone's mailbox. The illegality is in the intent to avoid postage, and it names things like bills and mailers. Not simple notes to your neighbor next door, neighbor to neighbor.

There are many pockets of LA where it will go on the entire month. It gets really, really old, especially when you're dealing with a senior dog who is afraid. Fortunately the Kravitz house is in a community that doesn't allow private fireworks at all, and people seem to respect that.

I clicked on the @TLC link and they're advertising everything but TFW's show. In fact, @TLC is running a daily countdown for the season premiere of Outdaughtered and some show called Spouse House. Also getting advertised are 90 Day Fiancé, I Am Jazz And Counting On.

A live tweet party! Be still my heart. I wonder if Mady's stalker will attend (TFW finally removed his comments). She'd better hope that people are too lazy to change the channel after her lead in show because TLC's not promoting it.

FYI said...

I took a look at both TLC's twitter and FB pages. They're heavily promoting other shows, especially Outdaughtered. They've got countdowns to Outdaughtered, Rattled, and a new show Spouse House, that premieres tonight.

But they haven't posted anything about Kate plus 8 since the original announcement on June 15 that the show is returning. Even the Kate plus 8 FB page hasn't mentioned it since then.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

The law also says you can't put "mailable" matter in the box.

A sheet of paper is not mailable. You'd have to put it in an envelope.

Similarly, I imagine they don't care if you want to put some cookies in there, or a flower. That's not mailable either unless you box it all up for mail.

These laws have to be read very carefully to know if what you're doing is wrong or not.

They do way more for Little People, even have little segments in between commercials where they do more current updates with them. There's a host and everything. I've never seen that for Kate, not in many years anyway.

She's been filler for awhile and continues to be filler. They want something new in the slot, but don't want to spend a lot of money. I guess this doesn't embarrass her at all.

Admin, I bet the person you're arguing with about leaving nature alone is also outraged by people like me who say that the way to end puppy mills is for no one to buy the puppies and just report the buyers to the proper authorities. Yes, some of those puppies will die if we don't buy them but guess what? When we buy and "save" them, another one takes its place and the way to end this is indeed to sacrifice a few generations of puppy mills puppies. Of course ideally the cops would just find all puppy mills and seize the dogs and give them up for adoption but it won't always turn out that way. Just another example of how doing the right thing can sting.

Dmasy good choice starting BCS. Enjoy! I too have followed recommendations from this blog. I've no idea who mentioned the book Room by Emma Donoghue several years back but if you're still here and remember mentioning it, a big belated thank you from me! I strongly recommend the book.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Welp, the thing is, I was trying to be benevolent by giving them a warning about the fireworks. I could have just called the cops, many of whom I work with, and reported it. They can and will fine and arrest. It's $1,000 per firework and/or an arrest, and they could have gone broke with fines or been thrown in jail for all the crap they pulled all.month.long.

I just don't think it's very funny to say I committed a crime when I was trying to help them not get in trouble by giving them fair warning. And all this while my dog was in agony for a MONTH. I guess the situation just wasn't funny to me and I'm sorry other people are going through it too. I did what I could think of to resolve it peacefully and it worked. Sigh.

All the effort he put into being her "helper boy." Only to be sent away from his home and his mother and 7 siblings and his pets -- everyone and everything he loved. What an incredibly sad situation.

For a long time I have been seeing ads for Outdaughtered, I Am Jazz, the 90-Day Fiance show, etc--but nothing for K+8. Just like last season (I think this is a season, but someone listed it wrong--as a continuation of the last one). Just like when they said Kate and her 8 kids were going skiing--it's doubtful that C was there, but someone didn't know--or maybe nobody cared--to get it right. It just seems like TLC doesn't care anymore.

Layla (#181), I think TLC is firmly in the position of power in their relationship with TFW. She gets them at least some guaranteed eyeballs (so-so numbers are better than abysmal ones), and all they have to do is snap their fingers and she's available for whatever, whenever.

Gone are the luxury vacays. Gone are the remodeling projects that ran into 6 figures. Gone is the era of long press junkets that took her away from her 8 little albatrosses for days at a time -- complete with room service and fish in paper and hair and makeup people fawning all over her. TLC has finally put up a Photoshopped montage (from last year's publicity photos, I guess no new photo shoot this time around) on the K8 FB page to announce the new "season." Collin is off at the far end. And the negative comments ensue.

XXXXX Have watched from the beginning, will try to watch now, but frankly the older girls were so dramatic and mean, and I doubt if they have changed, and from the previews sadly the young girls are acting just like the twins.

XXXXX Love the kids but they will probably turn out mean like Kate. Hopefully not too damaged from having their lives played out on TV with all the divorce drama.

XXXXX I like this programme but I wish Kate wouldn't keep playing to the camera

XXXXX I saw the show last wk Kate has NOT change one bit..still the same.

XXXXX Haven't seen many commercials announcing the new season. I didn't know anything untill now 😕

Let's see, TFW has 157K IG followers and her latest post (about the show tomorrow) has 6,530 "likes" and 109 comments. Put those numbers together with her 266K+ followers on twitter and she should really have a HUGE twitter party tomorrow night. She'll have to purchase a bunch of twitter comment bots (so excited to see you back, the kids are so big, you're a great mom, how do you do it alone) Because if she doesn't it will be the same 20 or so diehards attending. She still hasn't announced the twitter party on twitter.

It looks like Milo is giving her a pass for not thanking her, at least publicly, for the funky chicken. Milo is busy telling her she has been so missed on twitter, "You used to be the best of the best". Is she tell the world's best mother that she is a 'has been'? Milo is still referring to a "crew of 8 teens" - she's ignoring Collin's absence as much as TFW does.

No way does it bump her numbers.

Alexis sulking in the first picture, all of them jumping childishly in the second one, a tup girl biting Aaden's hand in the third picture. Boy are they trying to pass the tups as young and remind the viewers how cute they were huh? I suspect that's why they include clips of the kids when they were little.

Re reading my chicken coop recap cleared things up. They had an outdoor coop built for warmer months and apparently there's a second coop in the barn for the winter though I don't recall seeing it.
