Coming up on the problems of the one percent, the treehouse builders are coming at the same exact time as the chicken people. How will the family cope with such a jam packed day? (As we find out later Kate scheduled them to come on purpose, thus intentionally setting up this incredible drama.)
In my day, we built a treehouse with Dad and Uncle Dave, a couple hammers and some scrap lumber. You didn't contract it out like you might a family home.
I like looking on the bright side of these episodes, and the bright side of this one is this was back when the episodes were the correct length, only 20 minutes long. That's all the nothingness of these episodes that they require. Pushing them out to 42 minutes as they've done in later seasons is not only ridiculous but may have led to the declining ratings. This episode pulled in just a hair over a million in ratings, which is more than can be said for many of the episodes that came later. Though incidentally, this was one of the final episodes that aired just before this showed was first "cancelled."
Kate makes some reference to the chicks never hatching and that's why the kids wanted chicks. I vaguely remember an incubator in one of the episodes, and I found my recap about it here. Why did those eggs abort anyway? It doesn't appear Kate explained why in the incubator episode, at least not according to my recap. Apparently she just said they never hatched. But there is no reason a good percentage should not hatch as long as you follow directions and give the eggs the proper temperature and rotation. Things that make you wonder the extent of Kate's negligence on a day-to-day basis.
It's 2011, so it's the heyday of Kate's tanning and botox. She's an unnatural muddy shade of brown, and in fact the twins look very dark too, way darker than they appear today. I wouldn't put it past Kate to take her 10-year-olds tanning, too.
Kate admits she hadn't thought at all about how to lay out the coop in the barn. Ashley appears out of nowhere and thank God she's here. She has sense. It takes her all of ten seconds to come up with a layout that works.
I don't understand what the treehouse has to do with setting up a chicken coop. But some builders show up and start scouting the property for a suitable tree. I can't understand half what the sextuplets are saying. They're not that little, but they do not make any effort to articulate at all, and often speak in obnoxious sing-song tones. No one corrects them. They're seven, not three. I don't remember them being like that, but it's annoying. They acted like babies far too long and some still do sometimes.
Ashley and the kids help clear out the barn. Kate mostly supervises and complains. I count her taking out one plastic bin and that was about it. Ashley flips on a switch apparently connected to an old radio and static comes on. For some reason Kate and Ashley find this absolutely hysterical and haunted-house like. The radio is cool, I would have asked Kate if I could have it. It's just going to end up in a bin of junk somewhere on Kate's watch anyway. Kate passes out brooms and supervises sweeping.
I am hyper alert to how Collin behaves and what is said about how he is, in light of him being gone from the family home for how long now? Collin seems very engaged with this project and enjoying it. He appears to be working hard, and Kate remarks that he was "on task." There are really no signs the boy was struggling in any way, socially or otherwise.
So apparently they already have the outdoor coop set up, and I guess this will be their indoor coop or are they ditching the outdoor one? They either never explain or I missed it. It's very annoying to watch a reality show and be confused about what is going on, even if you don't like the show.
Anyhow, the poop bin in the outdoor coop is so covered in feces they can barely get it open. This family should not be allowed to have animals if they are going to abuse them. Negligence is abuse, by the way. Never cleaning up an animal's feces from their living area is abuse, make no mistake. If they can't be bothered to clear out the poop once in awhile, is it a case where they can't be bothered to change the water dish and put out some feed? Sheesh. And I also think one can make a reasonable inference that if one cannot even properly take care of a small chicken coop, one is probably not very good at taking care of three dogs or any other living thing.
Meanwhile in a totally unrelated story, some contractors are building the children a treehouse that rivals Punky Brewster's. The foreman is talking about actual construction stuff.
Ads! University of Phoenix has been doing a big advertising push lately. Once in awhile a series of commercials come along that are just a really good short piece of cinema, and that's University of Phoenix. They are telling people's stories of their life and education at the college in short but moving bursts. I'm unclear if these are true stories or just made up melodrama, but they're good. I especially like the one about the child who endured bombings in Europe in World War II eventually to emigrate to the United States, in search of safety, work and the dream that her future children and grandchildren could make something of themselves too. Her future generations indeed have the world at their fingertips thanks to Grandma's education at the University of Phoenix. Big tear!
There's another one that's really good too about a single mom who adapts to the hurdles life throws at her and supports the family. Well done.
What's amazing about this schmuck Kate is that she admits that it was on her summer to do list to clean out the chicken coop. Um, that should be on your daily chore list, you animal abuser. Someone call animal control. Sometimes her idiocy is funny, and sometimes, like this time, it's downright blood boiling because it's hurting other people or animals.
Kate explains, with a straight face mind you, she scheduled the coop and the tree housing building on the same day because they'll be down there on that area of the property anyway. Oh goodness, that's smart. One would not want to have to walk down there twice! Sometimes I really cannot believe she hears herself.
Collin is working so hard helping out with this there's a little bead of sweat on his brow. Aw. For someone who claims to be so organized Kate's garage is a mess. She has various crap just shoved in cardboard boxes. Wouldn't she like to see everything all lined up pretty in giant Tupperware like normal organized people?
Aaden and Collin fight over a hammer for a very long time. Yawn. Kate is pounding some posts into the cement. The cement? How does that work? I literally have no idea what's going on. I also don't understand why an entire team of contractors is across the way building the treehouse, but Kate and Ashley are all by themselves doing what seems to be a fairly complicated project in their own right, whatever it is they are doing, pounding and stapling and such. I'm no Bob Villa, but wouldn't it make more sense to jack hammer pieces of the cement out, then pound posts into it, then refill the cement?
Franky I really don't know what I'm talking about or how to do this project Kate wants to do but I do know when to call in the professionals and leave it to them. The intern chooses dopey guitar string music for this part. Heh. I wonder if that's labeled the way I imagine it to be on the sound board when they cue that up :"Dopey guitar strings."
The younger kids try to explain what Kate is doing but it only leaves me more confused. I do see they are moving the chicken run to the barn. Collin blurts out that the treehouse took three days to build. The episode does indeed seem to play out as taking place over three days when all is said and done. That is a heck of a long time for ten and seven year olds to be forced to stay around the property and film all day.
Kate pays a very brief visit to the treehouse construction, and can't resist mentioning that she is working hard too over at the chicken coop. What does that have to do with the treehouse and what do they care what she's up to? What a narcissist.
The chicks finally arrive in a cardboard box with holes poked in it. Is that really how they transport them? Yipe. "They were so cute, like a pillow!" says Aaden as he cuddles up with a pillow on the couch. Lol. Aaden, you're so cute!
Kate was worried the kids would step on the chicks?? That's a gruesome fear! She makes the kids stand back away from the chicks, which is no fun at all. Why can't they just be asked to shuffle their feet, or get on their knees? The way she problem solves is so insane.
A glimpse inside Kate's head: "I could see that door in my mind, I totally could see it, sitting there in my mind, but I thought I can't do that. And then I thought, well why can't you?" I wonder if her thought process really goes as slow as she makes it seem.
In unrelated news, the tree house sure is coming along.
I don't know what Kate is doing, but it involves a lot of nailing together of boards. It's some kind of door frame I guess? Ashley suggests maybe they should drill it, because like I said, she has sense. Who nails things anymore? It's not Little House. Kate is clearly in way over her head, and I still have no clue why they didn't assign a contractor to the chicken coop too. Uh oh, doofus made the door too wide.
She heads back over to the tree house contractors and asks them if they would help her trim the door to size. Is it me or is that really, really rude? You paid them to build a treehouse, not step in and lend a hand here and there for other random unrelated projects. They are very nice about it, but it doesn't negate how rude Kate is being.
Next they drill some hinges into the door. I have a feeling without Ashley here Kate would still be sitting helplessly on a giant pile of chicken feces staring at all the building materials. Thank God.
I think the kids are finally sick of Kate going on and on about how amazed she is at the project she is accomplishing. As Stephanie Tanner would say, well pin a rose on your nose. Collin, at the ripe old age of seven, mocks Kate. He rolls his eyes and sways around on the couch, saying, she never built anything in her whole entire life! Heh, I love when kids are old enough to realize some adults are completely absurd.
Kate scares her young kids about Avian flu, only she calls it "aviation" flu because she's an idiot. Way to give them nightmares, geez. Many sensitive kids don't see anything funny about jokes like that. I remember when I was a real little kid, and AIDS was all over the news, and I was way too little to understand anything about AIDS other than to think it was really scary. And then some stupid adult made a joke about a family member possibly getting AIDS because they had recently had an operation. I cried for two days after that. So many adults fail to understand that the bits and pieces of things that kids hear on the news can get grossly exaggerated in their little minds to the point of terror.
In unrelated news, the tree house is just about ready. It's rad, as one would expect when contractors spend three days on it. It's like a one-room tiny house, and even has a loft in it you get up to with a ladder. There's a swing down below that fits two kids at a time. The kids love it all. Too bad we found out later Kate keeps the cool place under lock and key so they can't even enjoy it. That's the whole point of a treehouse for kids, so they can run off to it when they need a break from the real world. What a buzz kill she is.
Kate jokes dumbly that someday it could all be too much for her and so she'll go out and stay in the treehouse. No Kate, someday it will all be too much for you so you will send a child away forever.

That ditzy dope was a nurse once upon a time. Aviation flu. You contract it when a canary with a bad cold sneezes on you when it's seated next to you on a plane. True or false, Kate?
And if I remember correctly, hatching chicks is a fairly delicate procedure. Knowing Kate, she didn't bother to listen to someone who knew what it entails and tried to explain to her how it's done. You know...Mr. Chickenman or whoever.
Um. Brad Pitt dated one of HW's victims and was married to another. Yet, he went on to make THREE movies with Harvey. And Brad's the hero here?? WHAT?
I just realized it was one of Woody Allen's sons who broke the Weinstein story. Good for him.
Oh and Ronan himself said that the people who covered this all up were "aiding and abetting."
Nice to see someone calling out these women, and men, for what they did by being so quiet.
Ronan is NOT woody allen's son! He'd be horrified that anyone thought that.
He is the son of Mia Farrow and Frank Sinatra.

I loved how Rachel Maddow (on MSNBC) tried to steer Ronan away from putting the blame on NBC for not running with the story, and tried to get Ronan to agree that the story was not fully vetted yet.
He was like (paraphrasing), "Ah, nope, it was good to go on every level".
Ha!
I really like Ronan. I've been watching his segments on the Today show for a couple years and he's very good- good persona, good presence, interacts with people well and now it's obvious he is one helluva investigative journalist.
I find it notable that the son of two Hollywood powerhouses-perhaps some of the biggest in its history (and I mean Farrow and Sinatra) took Harvey Weinstein down.
Reminds me of her talk of 'sammonella' poisoning (sic) when she made that chicken oozing blood on the grill.

The tups' language skills really lagged there. I grew up with 6 cousins who practically had their own special dialect growing up.
I think with the Gosselin kids, they're all about on the same level intellectually and tended to coalesce developmentally. None of them ever really stood out as being exceptionally adept athletically, with coordination, learning ability or with language skills.
For example, we have a nephew (youngest boy of 3 boys) who at about 6-7, could take any electronic gadget and figure out how to use it immediately. We gave him this VTech digital camera for kids one Christmas and that kid just intuitively put it through ALL its paces.
His verbal and communication skills were also so advanced, you thought you were carrying on a conversation with an adult.
No Gosselin kid has shown that, at least not in 10 years of filming.
Even though the tups were premies, I think Kate was a lazy-azz mother and never took the time to help advance their skills.

It seems like Kate was always thinking that it was someone else's "job" to steer her children's development. She was soooo busy managing everyone needed to support her that she could hardly be expected to actually help educate her children. That attitude was there from the very beginning. "Manager" is a much more apt description of her role in the family than "mother."
So many adults fail to understand that the bits and pieces of things that kids hear on the news can get grossly exaggerated in their little minds to the point of terror.
^^^^
Kate is a prime example of this. I've watched her so many times and just cringed at how she NEVER gets kids' minds.
They don't know irony or subtlety. Everything is taken at face value.
I can only imagine how little Kate cushioned the final blow of their parents divorcing.
She has zero empathy.

I thought that Farrow publicly recognized Woody Allen as his father. I thought I just heard that.
Just one look at those blue eyes and he's Frank's kid, but Ronan seems to want that private.
Idk..I always though Collin was the strongest tup and often was tasked with carrying things the others couldn't, and also wasn't he very good at math and art? As for the girls, Hannah has been seen helping the boys with money in a store or homework . Leah is supposedly good at DIY, like the tent at the camping party and the deckster. But yes, at age 7, they all seemed a little immature.
So many adults fail to understand that the bits and pieces of things that kids hear on the news can get grossly exaggerated in their little minds to the point of terror.

I remember my mother "joking" that she and my father were getting a divorce. I was around 6-7 at the time. I was worried SICK.
ALLLLLLLLL these years later? I still remember.
Maybe she was pissed at my dad at the moment, but it was really dumb and out of character for her. She never followed it up with, 'I didn't mean it" or "I just just joking'.
I was left to worry myself sick.
So, when I saw Kate always saying adult things to her kids, it would make my blood boil.
And, brilliant of you to realize a week later that Ronan Farrow is the son of Mia Farrow
$$$
I’ve known who Ronan is for years and Ive followed his career for years. In particular I’ve admired him for drawing a firm line about his father’s behavior he hasn’t wavered from. I actually hadn’t looked at the byline of the Weinstein story for some reason until now.
Oh and the whole Nbc debacle is embarrassing. And suspicious. It looks like they were trying to cover for Weinstein to with their BS about not having a fully vetted story. Lol as if they don’t run with half vetted stories all the time. He had actual interviews and that wasn’t good enough?
Admin, thanks so much for the new recap! Always a treat to read them.
What a snooze fest this episode sounds like. So very mediocre.
I think the kids' language deficit is in direct correlation with the fact that their mother doesn't engage in a lot of conversation with them. Sure, she can bark orders, and is forced into chatting with them when the cameras are rolling, but I suspect there's not a whole lot of give and take verbally between them otherwise.
Remember when TFW proudly proclaimed that she'd instituted "silent dinner?" That was my first clue that her kids are gone about 8 hours a day, and then come home to someone who'd appreciate it if they kept their mouths closed. She is a horrible mother (*waves to GollyGee*).
Ronan is NOT woody allen's son! He'd be horrified that anyone thought that.
&&&
Ronan himself calls Woody his father even though he has chosen not to speak to him because of his sister being molested, and if Mia had a child support order for Ronan, that means she had a legal finding Woody is his father. Biology is just a factor in the court of law, they are also more focused on who is acting as the father not who provided the sperm. Even if Sinatra did provide the sperm and were around, he would never be able to get the court of law to recognize him as much of anything other than the donor.
And although Ronan's face does resemble Sinatra, I think it's a coincidence--his hairline and hair texture and the look and shape of his little pale fingers are dead ringers for Woody.
Sadly pathetic that you wasted time recapping an inane show from over 5 years ago. Why bother? No one recalls the episode, so there can't be dialogue, just your monologue. Oh, I see.
&&&
I committed to recapping all the episodes, and it is a value of mind to honor the things I commit too even if it takes longer than I planned. I will finish this project, and I only have maybe 5 episodes left. I don't care if people want to discuss them or not, but I would like a complete record of the episodes, especially since many of us frequently turn to the recaps to recollect something. But, people do seem to be discussing some of the points in this episode nonetheless, so your prediction they're "can't" be a dialogue was flat out wrong.

&&&
I do think that played a major role. From everything we've seen she's always towering over them and never really seems to want to sit down with them and chat. She's off to the kitchen when they're in the house and the kids to the basement.
I never saw her pull one or two tups aside, draw them into her lap and say tell me about your day. What did you like? What did you dislike? What are your thoughts on this topic? Now Mommy will share her thoughts and what do you think? Now let's read a book together before bed.
Even five minutes a day of that with each child could have had a huge impact on their language skills and I don't think it happened. Remember too this is where we would find her on twitter all evening when these interactions would have been taking place.
The day to day conversations is where language really develops.
Oh and one more thing about NBC, they let Brian Williams sit there and spin his tall tales for years, but when Ronan has come up with a fully vetted bombshell story complete with victims willing to talk, it's not yet ripe for them?
It would be interesting to follow the money train on this one too. I can't believe their money never crossed paths with Weinstein, and got entangled.
It seems like Kate was always thinking that it was someone else's "job" to steer her children's development. She was soooo busy managing everyone needed to support her that she could hardly be expected to actually help educate her children. That attitude was there from the very beginning. Kate also managed her husband. That never bodes well for a marriage.
Jon became her subordinate and the media just loved that narrative.
Totally off topic, but has anyone heard that Movie Pass dropped their price to rock bottom 9.99 a month? It's unlimited movies at almost all theaters for a monthly price--no catch, no gimmicks, no black outs, no fine print. They used to be 50 bucks.
I just bought it and am using it for the first time today. My new house is a mile away from a theater, so we can walk.
If you see 1-2 movies a month you basically break even. More and you get even more out of it. With movie season upon us this is a great value for us.
From what I gather, Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey ran the story on Weinstein in The Times a few days before Ronan Farrow's article appeared in the New York Times. Apparently this thing has been smouldering in the coals for years and finally got billowed into flames thanks to to Kantor, Twohey and Farrow. They all deserve credit.
And then there's Lisa Bloom sitting there with egg on her face. ha
Ronan is the spittin image of his grandfather John Farrow.

The whole NBC thing is just as interesting as the story itself. You've got to follow the money on this. The climate was perfect for this story on the heels of Cosby. Yet they passed Ronan off on a print publication claiming a long form story would be better. Yet Ronan himself said all along he had been preparing this story with video expecting it to be a TV story. He had a stack of tapes ready to go. So that excuse doesn't fit the facts and it's suspicious that they were maybe hoping a print story just wouldn't work and would be ditched. But WHY? What pot were their hands in??
Ronan has written some lovely pieces over the years calling out people--male and female alike, for supporting the likes of Bill Cosby, his dad, and others. He is so well spoken and so unabashed.
He went after Miley Cirus and other women for appearing in his dad's movies when he knew she was the toast of people his age.
So the idea that it's some kind of politically incorrect thing to call women out doesn't matter to him either, and good on him. When and how we became a society where women are just too delicate of a sex to be called out for their own contributions to predators is truly beyond me.
But, people do seem to be discussing some of the points in this episode nonetheless, so your prediction they're "can't" be a dialogue was flat out wrong.
&&&&
You know, Admin, by design or not, recapping and discussing with this much hindsight is very valuable.
We now know that Collin was sent packing and will probably never live under Kate's roof again. This puts things in a light which we would not have 5 years ago.
Although, I think we are among only a handful of people who predicted Kate could and would cut one of her own children off, as she's done with so many family and friends.
There's a whole lot more to say when viewing now.
So, go back to Mordor with your Precious, Gollum.
Admin, didn't she make another slam about her childhood in this episode? I didn't watch it, but we had a discussion about it here (looonnnggg ago), and someone mentioned her saying that she would have loved to have a treehouse like that when she was a child, but she never had one. She seems to believe that she survived a childhood of complete deprivation. Brings to mind the bleak, black-and-white pictures you see of hungry children dressed in rags during the Depression. She never got to go to the spa or have her nails done! How did she ever survive?
And what a legacy that is---you'll probably be the only person on the planet who has recapped every K+8 episode. Better than being a top notch attorney, that's for sure.
&&&
Don't be dramatic. I never claimed this was some great contribution to society. It is what it is. You asked why I did it, I explained because I committed to it, and the project is almost done for cripe sake so why stop now. Nothing more nothing less. Stop poking and trying to get a rise out of people, it's immature and petty.
Also, you're here, so you must find some value in information about the Gosselins or you wouldn't waste your time.

I think she did say something to that effect. I must have missed putting it in the recap.
Because every child who does not have a crew of contractors come in for three days to build them a tiny house in the woods is deprived.

Speaking of stories, THIS is a story.
A child gets sent away from his home and from all he knows.
His 5 siblings in the womb, for God's sake.
After being exploited for a decade by his mother (and father for a time), making her into a household name and elevating her a handful of tax brackets.
After a very public and acrimonious divorce followed by years of mud slinging by 2 angry parents.
After being kicked out of school.
After suffering from the pressure of being in the public eye and pursued by paparazzi.
Someday, Ronan Farrow or another talented journalist is going to care enough about this story of abuse, power, fame and money, and important secrets will be told.
Someday, all the people keeping these festering secrets will be heard.
The Associated Press is reporting Larry Flynt is offering $10 million for the "smoking gun" that leads to President Trump's impeachment and removal from office.

Given the way people have been whining for nearly a year now with their sour grapes, I'm sure if there were a smoking gun they would have come up with it by now for free, he can save his money!
Even Cheryl Sandburg defended their decision to run whatever ads they darn well please short of a few narrow exceptions (pornography, etc), saying if we censor speech that is when the true danger begins.
Correct, Cher.
I enjoyed another recap because I like Admin's writing style. I don't care that i never saw the show and never will. I like
Admin's bits of sarcasm.
Speaking of children hearing bit and pieces -- just enough to worry -- I remember one. I was a pre-schooler when I over heard my mother and my aunt discussing a woman who had "lost her baby". I fretted for the longest time wondering if that unfortunate woman ever found her child.
I think Mia has been an alienator at times but I also think Woody has been inappropriate with his children at times. I think she took full advantage of that, that it was quite convenient for her.
Just because you identify a parent who is an alienator does not mean the other parent is guilt free. In fact that is where the real danger lies, because if they cry wolf enough people stop believing them when real abuse is going on.
I've always thought that Mia and Woody are both off their nut. The two of them love the spotlight and seem to always find a scandalous way to get in it. I was in my teens when Frank and Mia were married and everyone was horrified at the 30-year age difference between them. It was on the front page of tabloids for a long time. And then there's weird Woody...where do you start with that guy.
I don't know anymore about the family dynamics of the Farrow-Allen marriage either, aside from what I've read. I thought it was interesting, though, what Moses said about Mia:
"My mother drummed it into me to hate my father for tearing apart the family and sexually molesting my sister. And I hated him for her for years. I see now that this was a vengeful way to pay him back for falling in love with Soon-Yi."
I have to wonder if this isn't going to be the sort of story we'll hear from some of the Gosselin kids in the years to come.
OT- DH and I just finished watching the series finale of "Halt + Catch Fire". I so highly recommend this incredible journey with 4 individuals in the nascent personal computer industry.
I've watched the show from the beginning, and it's a remarkable vehicle that will take you through the decades via technology, music, fashion and culture.
The writing is adept, and the acting near flawless.
I'm going to go cry in a bowl of meatballs and rigatoni ;-)
And for the record, your premise is fundamentally flawed. Taking Weinstein out of the game would not impact the paycheck of highly sought after actresses who have their pick of scripts and production companies.
$$$
On the contrary I think you will find that Hollywood stands to lose hundreds of millions of unrealized dollars over the ousting of Weinstein. And even if they don’t lose it, it doesnt mean they’re not afraid they COULD.
lol. The troll does have that Gollumissssssh air about it and for some reason the little eldritch seems to be overly concerned with Admin's career. Strange.
============
I guess when you live long enough under that bridge, as all trolls do, they get weird and obsessed with strange things. It's like an addiction that can't be cured no matter what you do, and in this case, it seems that the troll actually is deliriously happy slopping around in the mud under the troll bridge, occasionally coming out to obsess over her girl crush on Admin.
Winter is coming, so I hope that he/she or he-she has a happy haven in which the person can find shelter and it's not on this blog.
Are trolls gender-neutral? Some apparently have big balls.
Sadly pathetic that you wasted time recapping an inane show from over 5 years ago. Why bother? No one recalls the episode, so there can't be dialogue, just your monologue. Oh, I see.
===========
What's sadly pathetic is this really weird crush the troll has on ADMIN. Why Admin? why, in the name of all that's holy, would a disgruntled troll give a rat's patootie how Admin spends her time? I don't get it. If you don't like it, DON'T READ it! Could it be that the time Admin wastes doing re-caps takes time away from this person who loves her so much? Sheesh! Get help, will ya,
"S"?
If anything is sadly pathetic, it's this bizarre fascination the troll has with Admin. Time to hide the bunny?

bm (#41), yes, it is unbelievably sad to know about C's fate, and watch a past episode where he shows himself to be so desperate for his mother's love and approval.
Good grief, where is that poor child? For all we know, he may have been bounced from place to place over the year and a half he's been away from his home and family. Will he ever be able to trust another living soul after being abandoned by his mother?
I hope that he/she or he-she has a happy haven in which the person can find shelter and it's not on this blog.

Somehow I think that the story of Collin's childhood and abandonment by his mother will become public knowledge when he is an adult. I hope Kate and TLC are ready for some major damage control.

You can’t possibly be comparing a couple folks who won’t move on from that to the near constant barrage of whining from the media, the left, comedians, and cherry on top, Hillary’s it’s everybody else’s fault tour. The difference is the few birthers were treated like a funny little sideshow while the thousands who won’t shut up and move on today are given center stage and a legitimacy that is just head scratching. It. Is. Soooo. Old.
Whoa John Oliver went to town about the hypocrisy of Casey Affleck and others remaining the toast of Hollywood. He’s right. Seriously wtf with Casey affleck!

Then again, some have no balls at all, only feign boldness and brashness in a futile attempt to overcome their own insecurity and ineptness.
I don't think Hollywood will ever change. The hypocrisy is they defend sexual predators when it suits them.
Now that Ronan Farrow has taken down Harvey Weinstein, Roman Polanski who drugged and raped a 13 yr. old girl and who admitted only to sex with a minor, left the country before sentencing. Don't get me started on Woody Allen and his reputation. Both Polanski and Allen remain members of the Academy.

Yes, someone on the board said it was to air on October 9th. I just scrolled thru the TLC listings until October 29th and there were no new episodes or reruns of Kate + 8 listed.
When the show was cancelled before, did TLC air reruns? I can't remember.
If only Kate and the rest of similar parents would understand this.

Howard Stern discussed the Harvey Weinstein/Roman Polanski issue this morning. Bottom line is no one can say why Hollywood is going after one and not the other.
I was just watching Investigation Discovery and saw an ad for a new TLC show called Hodges Half Dozen. A couple with one child have quintuplets. Another set of HOM babies to add to their line-up. As Kate's kids get older, there is a never-ending supply of adorable babies ready to take their place.
Why is everyone who disagrees with Admin. automatically labeled a troll? Can no one disagree with her? I am a long time poster, am I considered “a troll” because I don’t agree with her? I’m sure there are a lot of regular posters here who don’t agree with Admin. Are they now ALL considered “trolls”.
Admin—I get it. You’re a diehard Trump supporter. You sound almost gleeful about the Harvey Weinstein situation. You blame Hollywood for covering it up. I have to ask, where were you when all the accusations about Trump came out during his campaign? You defended Billy Bush, saying he shouldn’t have been fired from NBC. When multiple women came out making accusations against Trump, you swept it under the rug. But now you admonish those that did the same thing regarding Harvey Weinstein, for not coming out sooner?
As far as the “birther” movement. It’s not just a FEW that still believe it. Sheriff Joe Arpaio even put out a video trying to prove that Obama’s birth certificate was a fake. And Trump, IMO, wrongfully pardoned him. Arpaio defied a court order—yet Trump thought that was okay. So much for the “law and order” president. IMO, Trump only pardoned him because he was a “birther” supporter.
I also have to ask why when Admin. responds to a negative comment, she only posts PART of the comment. She never shows the whole comment, or who posted it. She picks and chooses what arguments she will reply to, and won’t even have the decency to give the poster full credit for the comment. I have to ask “Why is that?” Is she afraid to show that some of her regular posters don’t agree with her?
I used to enjoy this blog. I joined it to comment on all the atrocities that Kate Gosselin committed regarding her kids. But now I wonder what part of this comment will be posted? How will Admin. spin it to make it go HER way. Admin. apparently doesn’t have it in her to say “We can agree to disagree”. She just feels that no one should ever disagree with her. I guess it’s a case of “my way or the highway”. Well, I’m taking the highway.
Admin—I DARE you to post this comment in full. And I DARE you to explain away all the sexual abuse accusations against Trump. Of course, I know you’ll use Bill Clinton in your defense. But ask yourself WHY you can defend Trump in the same breath you accuse Bill Clinton and Harvey Weinstein.
And again, don’t use the excuse that “nothing” has been found against Trump. The investigation is on-going. You can’t close a case while the investigation is still going on. As a lawyer, I would assume you would know that.

I'm really not clear how the dominos began to fall for Weinstein.
Polanski and Allen haven't been serially active like Weinstein. I think it's the sheer volume of Weinstein's transgressions and crimes, combined with a cadre of affected actresses who are old enough, experienced enough and secure enough to just come out and say it.
A perfect storm.

Same here. When I hear about parents who push their very young children into sports, drama, dance, whatever, I think of that scene in the principal's office when Buck says, "I don't think I want to know a six-year-old who isn't a dreamer, or a sillyheart. And I sure don't want to know one who takes their student career seriously. I don't have a college degree. I don't even have a job. But I know a good kid when I see one. Because they're ALL good kids, until dried-out, brain-dead skags like you drag them down and convince them they're no good. You so much as scowl at my niece, or any other kid in this school, and I hear about it, and I'm coming looking for you!"
I also like John Candy in "Summer Rental." That's another good one. I always think of him when I go to a seafood restaurant with the lobsters in the tank.

She has two beautiful grandchildren she could be having a ball with and instead goes off on a sad little book tour "who stole my cheese and made me lose."
I think what is off is extreme narcissism which has worsened as she's gotten more power. Remember narcissists CANT LOSE and also can't accept it when they lose. She never even prepared a concession speech, and by her own admission got so drunk that night she couldn't speak even if she wanted to. Sounds like something Kate would do when the axe finally falls. That said, she wouldn't be the first narcissist in politics so she's not some special case. It's sad, because at one time I think she was a role model, especially for her work in child welfare, which is close to my heart. But there is not much to admire in a sore loser.
The "few" birthers? As late as 2016, polling showed that the MAJORITY of Republicans believed Barack Obama was born outside the U.S. Math may not be your strong suit, but let me assure you that doesn't equate to "a few."
&&&&
Well, you or likely the article you read are distorting that survey, by combining the "I don't really know to be honest" people in with the HE WAS NOT BORN here people, which is disingenuous and grossly unfair, but that's the left for ya. It was not a majority, it was only 41 percent, which under my basic math says not even close to a majority, with many people of BOTH parties voting they really didn't know one way or the other (that seems like an open minded position), and a solid quarter of the party saying with conviction he WAS born in the USA.
It was also a very small survey of only about 1700 of both parties combined, and done by survey monkey, which people tend to fly through to get their gift card, so I have doubts about its validity.
All I can say is in my circle this never was or currently is an issue. In fact I never once remember it coming up in all those years or since except to make fun of those proposing it. I suppose I only hang out with the other 59% who did not say that at all, or the survey was wrong. We are concerned about the real issues and interested in discussing the real issues, not red herrings.
@Admin Didn't Kate already do that?I remember when her show got cancelled, she was going on a pity tour and kept insisting that the kids REALLY miss filming and asking her when the crew will come back?I wouldn't be shocked if TLC only brought her back if she kept whining to them on the phone.
Howard Stern can be crass and has his own history of objectifying women but I think he's incredible smart and I think his points are well taken. Yeah, what gives about Polanski anyway??
Hollywood blows the way the PR people think they should blow and any attempts to act like they really give a darn about Harvey or his victims is trite at best.
Remember narcissists CANT LOSE and also can't accept it when they lose.

Just like Trump lost on repealing the ACA? He can't accept it, so he's trying to undermine it instead?
Admit it, Admin. Your bias is blatantly obvious.

Pretty much. Quite an interesting similarity to Hillary and her undignified response over the past 9 months to losing. It gets to the point where you feel like you're a guest at the wedding and aunt Hill over there is getting drunk and talking about her ex again and it's embarrassing and you wish she would just say goodnight and go home.
I just finished George HW Bush's biography and his dignity is in stark contrast to the 2016 election in general. He was devastated to lose to Clinton, he truly felt he had a lot more work to do for the country and his time wasn't up yet, but he put on his big boy pants and never let the public know it. He wrote Clinton a nice welcome letter, and he was determined that they try to be friends and maybe even work together eventually when it all shook out, and they have. Now they're quite good friends, both families.
He also emphasized that he was more sad than anything for his staff like he had let them down (thinking of others, and not his own ego). He wanted to cheer them up so he invited Dana Carvey to come to the White House and do his best impressions of him and cheer people up. Dana came, it was a riot, and everyone loved it and left the White House on a positive note. Class. Pure class.
Just like Trump lost on repealing the ACA? He can't accept it, so he's trying to undermine it instead?

Huh? Trump is a narcissist too, no question about it. Most people that rise this far to the top are. I never said otherwise. Most NORMAL people dont go for president of the USA. You almost have to be a narcissist.
I am virtually certain I said he is a narcissist several times in my Celebrity Apprentice recaps. Just because I call out one for being so doesn't mean I'm saying the other is not, so just relax.

Kate went on a three-year "poor me, I need a show to support my kids" tour. Maybe the nonstop whining shamed TLC into taking her back. It's interesting that she's so quiet now. It could be that she's yesterday's news and the daily shows aren't interested any longer. Maybe she's afraid of being asked about Collin's situation. Maybe she can't figure out what her answer will be if she's asked why she doesn't get a regular job (she can't use the "child care would cost my whole paycheck" excuse when her kids are all old enough to be babysitters for others. I'm just interested in seeing how long it will be before TLC brings them back, and when they do, in what capacity.
Bush 43 has shown great dignity in his post-POTUS life.
He was certainly very polarizing during his 8 years, but his commitment to our soldiers has been remarkable.
I think his work with our troops with PTS has been very helpful.

He recently did a series on portraits of vets. He's gotten a fair amount of praise from the art world. OT -- feeding the trolls. I was curious about internet troll psychology and found this:
"Psychological studies show trolls tend to be male, show higher levels of psychopathy traits – low levels of empathy, guilt and responsibility for their actions – and higher levels of sadism traits – the enjoyment of causing others physical and psychological pain.
Trolls are also motivated by what psychologists call “atypical social rewards”. Generally, people are motivated by creating a positive social environment (typical, positive social rewards). But trolls show higher motivation to achieve negative social rewards, like creating social mayhem and disruption.
Cognitive empathy is the ability to recognise and understand other people’s emotions. But affective empathy is the ability to experience and internalise other people’s emotions. Put simply, cognitive empathy is the ability to predict how another person will feel and affective empathy is sharing the emotional experience.
As expected, people who were more likely to troll had significantly lower levels of affective empathy.
Surprisingly, people with high levels of cognitive empathy and psychopathic traits were more likely to troll. In other words, their high level of cognitive empathy indicates they are very good at understanding what hurts people, and their high level of psychopathy means they simply don’t care.
If trolls are rewarded by creating social mayhem, then it’s best to not feed the trolls. Try not to reinforce their behaviour by reacting. If the troll knows they have succeeded in disrupting the social environment in some way, this will reinforce their behaviour"
---
I guess the "don't feed the trolls" at any time has some merit. I'm not sure what happens if they are fed after midnight!

Just an honest observation to share- I've had concerns about Hillary's health and ability to withstand all the physical rigors of the Presidency from before the election.
Her healthy history was/is concerning to me and this "fall" just does't add add.
Clinton said she was "running down the stairs" when her heel caught and she fell backward.
That makes no sense on any level.
First, Clinton can't "run "down stairs and needs help just getting up and down. She uses handrails or other people to assist her.
Further, catching her heel would have pitched her forward, not backward.
I'm sure that doctors gave her that cast walker to help get her up and going asap and I think it's great that she got back into her press junket, but I don't believe her story.
I think Hillary has much at stake with her narrative that the Presidency was hers to have and was stolen from her.
That doesn't sell when you're physical frailties are on display for all to see.
Ah, yes, Kate's broken "foot".
Ya know, I also highly doubted her story, too. I think there was some boxed wine involved ;-)
I believe her that she broke her toe, but there is a level of detail that she provided in the story that is very odd. Why not just say I tripped on the stairs and broke my toe. Or, my heel caught and I broke my toe.
A good lie has details, and all the extraneous details provided seem like over compensation to me, look trying too hard to make the story seem as realistic as possible.
I think more than likely, she had another fainting episode. And it’s OK, she’s not leading the country. She’s allowed to faint. But the lying and being in such denial are truly sad to watch.
A good lie has details, and all the extraneous details provided seem like over compensation to me, look trying too hard to make the story seem as realistic as possible.
^^^^^
It's the details that make Hillary's story implausible. I can't picture how falling backwards, when going down the stairs, breaks a toe in the front of the foot.
Of course I have no clue what happened, but what pings on my radar is perhaps another dizzy/fainting spell or peripheral neuropathy.
I have a sense that Hillary's stamina is compromised by something more than age, which isn't "old".
OT--Got home late last night and caught the 2nd showing of the last half of Counting On (Joy-Anna's wedding). Some quick observations:
All the commercials I saw were TLC related.
While I don't remember the names, TLC seems to have plenty of new shows coming out so there is no need to show reruns of the screaming shrew, uh Kate.
Babykins glitzed it up--wearing a dress with sequins and sporting a very sparkly bracelet on one wrist.
JimBoob escorted Joy-Anna down the aisle holding her hand, not extending his arm for her to hold as I've always seen it done.
Joy-Anna and Austin signed the marriage certificate during the ceremony
It seems like every Duggar wedding has a gimmick or two--the wedding coordinator "surprised" the couple with confetti cannons as they exited the church, which mostly showered the guests. Then Joseph proposed to Kendra during the reception.
I did not see one shot of Josh, Anna or any of their children.
Major shade was thrown during the show/promos about Joseph & Kendra's upcoming wedding. One of the Duggar girls and two of the boys discussed how great it was going to be to see another Duggar boy get married after so many of the girls' weddings. All without mentioning Josh by name.
There was a promo shot of Joseph's wedding that showed both JimBoob and Babykins sitting on a couch talking to and/or praying with Joseph. It brought back memories of the contrived scene between Joshieboy and JimBoob as JimBoob 'instructed' Joshieboy on male-female relationships prior to his wedding. It doesn't seem like the girls get equal time in that area.

Screenwriter Scott Rosenberg says he knew all about Harvey Weinstein — and so did everyone else
Interesting excerpts:
"There was nothing secret about this voracious rapacity; like a gluttonous ogre out of the Brothers Grimm. All couched in vague promises of potential movie roles.”
"So why didn’t he say something? Do something? The options were few, Rosenberg writes.
“What would you have had us do? Who were we to tell? The authorities? What authorities? The press? Harvey owned the press. The Internet? There was no Internet or reasonable facsimile thereof. Should we have called the police? And said what? Should we have reached out to some fantasy Attorney General Of Movieland? That didn’t exist,” he writes. “Not to mention, most of the victims chose not to speak out. Aside from sharing the grimy details with a close girlfriend or confidante. And if they discussed it with their representatives? Agents and managers, who themselves feared The Wrath Of The Big Man? The agents and managers would tell them to keep it to themselves. "
There's a video included where Angie Everhart she talked about it before but "nobody listened."
Courtney Love spoke out against Weinstein in 2005 and was "forever banned" from the CAA, Creative Artist Association' for doing do.
There was a promo shot of Joseph's wedding that showed both JimBoob and Babykins sitting on a couch talking to and/or praying with Joseph.

Sheepless (106)
Trolls are such odd creatures. Recently my Aunt Win did an internet search for this blog and came up with another blog, which was people posting about the posters on this blog. Strangest thing she had ever seen. I thought it was funny, and eventually so did she. I guess we're a fascinating bunch, aren't we? Admin, especially, seems to be the main focus of obsession for so many people out there. Maybe they're jealous of her pretty new house. Or it could be her education, her career, or the fact that she has maintained a successful blog for almost a decade. Not an easy accomplishment.
The thing that bothered Aunt Win was the fact that someone had written there that we lied about a passage in Robert's book--the one about Kate whipping Collin into his crib. Aunt Win had the book on her Kindle, and she couldn't find that passage, and wondered if it was really there. Ever the helpful niece, I took her Kindle, scrolled through, and found the exact passage, and handed it to her so she could read--in Kate's own copyrighted words--what she did to Collin. Sorry, trolls, you failed to convert her.
First, Clinton can't "run "down stairs and needs help just getting up and down. She uses handrails or other people to assist her.
-------------
Remember when she exited the plane in a hail of gunfire, and then a video surfaced that showed this wasn't true at all?
Supposedly she announced that she is not running again. She'd never survive another campaign, physically or emotionally.
Just enjoy your grandchildren, Hillary. These are your golden years. Make the most of them.
“What would you have had us do? Who were we to tell? The authorities? What authorities? The press? Harvey owned the press. The Internet? There was no Internet or reasonable facsimile thereof. Should we have called the police? And said what?
====
How about something to the effect of "you should be made aware that there is a serial sexual predator by the name of Harvey Weinstein..."?
Or did HW own the cops, too?

$$$
Can they please Stop with the excuses. Yes, of course you tell the police. Every time. And if that never leads to a prosecution so be it, but at least you did what you should. And yes you tell the media too. True some media won’t run the story (nbc at first) but there were plenty out there gunning to get this story out, like Ronan.
He is ASSUMING no one will do anything, but few tried. Don’t assume. I am really sick and tired of all the reasons why they “couldnt” stop Harvey. They are some of the wealthiest and most powerful people in the world. Just stop.
Or did HW own the cops, too?
$$$
The cops wired up Ambra to try to get something. They can stop peddling the lie that the cops weren’t willing to pursue this. They absolutely were and by sheer bad luck the one time he was wired he happened to not say or do anything that bad. Luck of the draw.
Then Joseph proposed to Kendra during the reception.

It seems that more than ever, TLC's roster of shows is fully packed with new and old talent and there's no little niche for Kate to fill any longer.

There's a piece to this story that doesn't really apply in most others, and that is money, fame, fortune, access and power.
Don't tell me it didn't cross many minds that if they just shut up and kept this open secret, there might be a reward at the end, either directly or indirectly.
If the business you choose to enter is so sick and twisted, you can't complain when you don't change careers.
Like Kate, there's more than one way to earn a living and live your life.
And another thing that people really don't want to say or admit-especially women-but for every pretty starlet that turned Weinstein down or played along just enough to get by, there are a hundred young women who'd give him anything he wanted.
That hurts every single female who wants to achieve success on her own talent, without having to "put out" or get naked on film.
He is ASSUMING no one will do anything, but few tried. Don’t assume. I am really sick and tired of all the reasons why they “couldnt” stop Harvey. They are some of the wealthiest and most powerful people in the world. Just stop.

Listening to talk radio in the car today, I once again heard about the "open secret" about another Hollywood A-lister who went after "teens".
We've been hearing about this for years! This isn't new!
This is the 2 Coreys and Elijah Wood etc.
Why is this horrible person STILL not named publicly?
I believe Corey and wanted to vag punch Baba Wawa when she scolded him on "The View", but for God's sake, if there are pedophiles who are still out there and grooming and molesting kids, name the names already!
Did you read the article? Rosenberg explicated stated that they did not know he was raping women; rather, they knew his behavior was wildly inappropriate. Sexual harassment is not a criminal offense, so he is correct that going to the police was not the answer.
$$$
California has some of the strongest sexual harassment laws in the country so again stop with the excuses. I don’t buy we couldn’t do anything. I’m asking people to try. A few did, and I have nothing bad to say about them if they tried and failed. But to not even try is absolutely reprehensible. You don’t not report something just becauae you think nothing will come of it. That’s not YOUR call to make. There are signs posted in every California workplace by law explaining exactly what you do when you see sexual harassment. Follow the directions. These people should be ashamed of themselves.
. As if by sacrificing their lives and careers, they could have single-handedly turned the tide of systemic misogyny upon which this town is built. 'Gwyneth has so much power! She should've spoken up sooner,' they say, in the painfully naive belief that had Gwyneth spoken up sooner, she would ever have gotten so much power."
$$
That is absurd. So, the answer is it’s okay not to speak up at all. No one is saying speaking up is easy but if we can at least get people to do so we can actually work on doing better at protecting them. But if they won’t even say anything in the first place what can we do? And also, Gwenyth was rich and powerful years ago and so is her family, so forget when this first happened, but why didn’t she speak up even five years ago?? Come off it.
Let’s flip the script. Let’s say he was molesting children. Would you say it’s okay to say nothing? The court of law doesn’t think so, and severely punished several members of Penn State for looking the other way. Why were they not given the benefit of the same excuses (they’ll be ruined, the power dynamic was not balanced, the perp was too powerful, and on and on)? This is absolutely outrageously hypocritical and no one should stand for it.
The court of law doesn’t think so, and severely punished several members of Penn State for looking the other way.
^^^^
Even the president of the school, iirc?
If a victim will not come forward and inform the police of the crime committed upon themselves then what can be done? Looks like the police wired someone so they could get evidence but that failed since Weinstein didn't sexually harrass her.

They were given the benefit of those excuses...by YOU. You might want to re-read some of your comments about "understanding Penn State culture" if you can't recall your stance. I have a distinct recollection of it because of your volume of posts on the subject.
Sleepless (106) posted about trolls:
"Surprisingly, people with high levels of cognitive empathy and psychopathic traits were more likely to troll. In other words, their high level of cognitive empathy indicates they are very good at understanding what hurts people, and their high level of psychopathy means they simply don’t care."
))))))))))))))
I found this article and read it in its entirety. Interesting stuff. I never really thought much about trolls, but their lack of empathy is right on. It's more than just that mean-girl attitude. The psychology of it is fascinating. No matter how smart or stupid a troll may be, and even if they have an ounce of empathy and know that their behavior may be hurtful, they just don't care and do it to mess with many on social media or one person they have singled out (in this case, it's admin).
I wonder if this is what they do in the real world, or only a behavior exhibited in social media and the internet because they can remain anonymous and in most cases their identity is hidden and therefore they don't have to reveal their lack or empathy to anyone in their social circle, friends, neighbors, family, employers, co-workers, or what have you. Is trolling a release for them, a way to vent, be annoying and obnoxious because they know they can't do this in "real" life?
The article suggests that while they may not have been missing in action when empathy was passed out, most of them do know right from wrong and it goes against the societal norm in dealing with people. They continue this behavior because they can get away with it and fulfills some bizarre need they have for attention and superiority.
Tucker (120): "It seems that more than ever, TLC's roster of shows is fully packed with new and old talent and there's no little niche for Kate to fill any longer."
))))))))))))))
Especially not with a new show about multiples airing soon. Kate's multiples are yesterday's news.
Of course it is. If you are the victim of sexual harassment, you have the power to decide whether or not to report it.
$$$
Well then I see we have a fundamental difference in values on this one and are not going to agree. I do not believe a victim has a choice whether to report that. I believe they’re morally obligated to. Not just for themselves, forget themselves, but to help prevent future victims. Any time they start thinking about their money train and get reluctant to report they should think about the next 22 year old kid this creep harasses. If they don’t want to put themselves center stage why can’t they report anonymously? Even an anonymous letter would have been enough to red flag at least an informal investigation. Enough of those and someone would take notice. It’s not just that they didn’t do what I would call best practice. They did nothing at ALL. Most anyway. It’s simply not credible they had no options. It’s not.
My sister made a comment the other day. She said what about all the women that went along with this guy and were willing to sell themselves and degrade themselves? As long as women are willing to cross picket lines and do that we’re going to remain locked in this awful cycle.
Lynne in RI (126) -- Very interesting.
I just can't understand the energy expended in coming to this blog to bash us and Admin.
My thought is -- just go some place with like minds and be happy or, at least, happier.
I might not agree with a victim's decision to not report, but I Will support the right to make that decision. You, on the other hand, believe in taking that power from them. Trust me, I have no problem having a fundamental difference of values from you.
&&&
Hmm. Well, I guess I would say if it were your daughter, sister, mother, or aunt who was harassed or raped AFTER dozens were before her who chose not to report, would you feel the same? Would you be able to defend to their faces that it was perfectly fine and dandy for multi millionaires like Gwenie and Winslet collect their trophies and their millions and not say anything while your loved one is about to be victimized by that guy?
Think about it. Long and hard.
Women are supposed to look OUT for each other. Not help each other cover things up.
Jane Fonda said she was wrong to STFU. She owns it. I respect her for admitting her grave mistake.
#nomoreexcuses
Mr. Rosenberg repeatedly says "everybody fucking knew" about four or five times in his facebook post.
Wrong. Apparently everyone but Meryl Streep. She didn't know.
Scott says he's sorry. Now doesn't that make it better? I feel all warm and fuzzy now.
Jane Fonda disappoints me. She used to be an outspoken activist for the women's movement. She herself was a victim of rape and sexual abuse. What happened to her support of V-day?
I have no problem having a fundamental difference of values from you.
________
Trolls have values? Who would have thunk(sic)it?
Devoid of empathy, though.
Wrong. Apparently everyone but Meryl Streep. She didn't know.
))))
Yeah, right. Shades of Dottie Sandusky
That would be the Administrator, who thinks these situations are so black and white and it's easy peasy for the victim to do the "right" thing.
&&&&
Doing the right thing is often not easy. Boo-hoo, being a person of integrity and conviction is no guarantee the path will be easy. Values and morals are nothing if you are not willing to put everything on the line for them.
What was easy, was to look the other way on this guy while he continued to victimize woman after woman, including a teenage nanny. Aiding and abetting is the easy way out, actually.
Jane Fonda disappoints me. She used to be an outspoken activist for the women's movement. She herself was a victim of rape and sexual abuse. What happened to her support of V-day?
&&&
I respect that she is one of the few to own this mistake she made in that. But I share your disappointment.
I think a lot of what this has exposed goes far beyond Weinstein and starts extending to the entire women's lib movement. A lot of it is phony baloney. A lot of it is directly traceable back to money. I do not believe many people involved in these causes at their core are capable of the morally correct action when the rubber meets the road and nobody is looking.
Look at how much money Jane Fonda has made off woman's issues over her career. I think what might have had a sincere fluttering interest that struck her had morphed into a real money maker for her, and that is when you can easily lose your compass.
A big lesson in this is to be wary of movements and agendas and political posturing and the motives of those behind them. You can't necessarily trust someone leading the charge on some issue, women's rights or what have you, that they are really sincere about the issue or have any true understanding of it. The real question needs to be asked of such women what would THEY do if cornered by Weinstein.
As for the #metoo movement, while alarming, it means nothing if you won't report your abuser. This will just continue.
The hashtag should be #REPORT-IT.
They were given the benefit of those excuses...by YOU. You might want to re-read some of your comments about "understanding Penn State culture" if you can't recall your stance. I have a distinct recollection of it because of your volume of posts on the subject.

First of all, many people at Penn State DID report it, including the victims themselves, many of whom were still quite young, as well as people who witnessed it, including a janitor, several parents, and McClurey and Paterno, who promptly reported it to their boss the very same night McClurey witnessed what he did. It was not a case of doing absolutely nothing, though it ended up a case of not doing enough, and the worst offenders who did not do enough are jailed for it now.
Second of all, I learned a lot from the Penn State scandal. You apparently, did not.
Just saw a preview for Hodges Half Dozen on TLC
Khate is past tense IMO
Reese Witherspoon says she too feels "guilty" for not saying something sooner about being assaulted when she was a child actor. And she was just a kid, so I wouldn't expect her to say something right then, though I do later once she was established and had no more excuses to keep it under lock and key.
Here that Kate? 16 years old.
Adding her to the short list of actresses actually taking some responsibility for shutting up to keep those checks flowing while countless other women were assaulted after them. Despicable.
kateplusmy8 Happy 9th birthday to King Shoka! Just home from the groomers all clean and ready to party🎉 ..once his kids get home from school! Cake baking to begin soon! #WeLoveYouToTheEndsOfTheEarth #ThankYouForYourUnwaveringLove #AndProtection #Family❤️
Ugh.
I can see why many celeb moms are keeping their kids out of the spotlight , like Brooke Shields for one.
Chatty K8ie. But where's Milo?
misshelen37 Their love is so deep for their families, I swear, humans can't love like that!!!!!
kateplusmy8@misshelen37 I totally agree... if only humans did love like that... world peace would be a piece of cake (no pun intended lol)!
mydmaxx2581HB to Shoka. I can't believe he's 9. What flavor of cake? Sure miss y'all. ❤️
kateplusmy8@mydmaxx2581 I'm trying a new one this year with applesauce and pumpkin in it with a Greek yogurt/peanut butter icing! I'll let you know! Alexis asked to try to a piece .. lol ..typical Alexis 😉🙄!
ohmybrataytards his kids?
kateplusmy8@ohmybrataytards well you know, his 'brothers and sisters' .. I just call them his kids... lol
Looks like a pile of dirty laundry in that photo of Shoka and assorted junk on top of the hamper thing. Messy.Maybe someone mentioned this.Only noteworthy due to TFW's insistence that she is a neat freak.
TFW made a pupcake one episode and all the kids tried it and we were treated to them spitting it out. There was also a fight among the tup girls over wrapping Shoka's gifts and Alexis being called mean names.
Just saw her latest picture of Shoka. It looks like it was taken in her messy bedroom.
bm
How long until we see the inevitable question about Shoka's birthday? You know, "Will we be seeing this on TV?". There were several of those when the twins turned 17. Privacy for anyone in this family is unfathomable to Kate's fans.
The HW issue is infuriating. How could so many A-list stars keep their mouths shut when they knew what he was doing? Are they really so self-absorbed? They enabled him, plain and simple.
Shoka is 9? I must be remembering wrong, but it sure seems like the tups were older than 4 when they got him? Maybe not though, as Jon was gone by the next year, and were they 5 then?
Yes, Shoka provides "unwavering love and protection" to the family. Sure can't say the same for his master.
The HW issue is infuriating
Yes it is but maybe it will make TLC think twice about doing more episodes with Kate. How many people have kept their mouths shut about the abuse that went on behind the scenes in order to film her show. People saw it but did not report it.
Speaking of the Penn scandal, OT for Admin, because I know she's been following what's happened there. Old Jerry is still behind bars. This just in:
"HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Jerry Sandusky lost a bid Wednesday for a new trial and a second chance to convince a jury he is innocent of the child sexual abuse charges that landed him in state prison to serve a lengthy sentence.
Judge John Foradora denied Sandusky's requests for a new trial or for dismissal of charges.
The former Penn State assistant football coach's lawyers said they were disappointed and planned to appeal the decision to Superior Court.
Penn State's former president, Graham Spanier, and two other ex-administrators, Tim Curley and Gary Schultz, were sentenced to jail time earlier this year after Spanier was found guilty and the others pleaded guilty to child endangerment for their handling of a 2001 complaint about Sandusky showering with a boy. Spanier is free on bail while he appeals his conviction.
The scandal has cost Penn State more than $200 million in fines, settlements and other costs, and the football program was hit with significant NCAA penalties that were later dialed back."
The Hollywood Reporter covers HW - "The shame of Hollywood, Harassment in Hollywood" - a brutal report.
bm
The Daily Mail is reporting: "Lisa Bloom was aware of Harvey Weinstein allegations last October - before she was hired by disgraced mogul and given a TV deal within six months".
bm
Well TFW published a picture of Shoka's along with a video of Shoka eating it and (surprise) a copy of the recipe that she didn't claim as her own. Yes the cake looks good and I may make it for my bully. That being said, it looks like she let Shoka eat the whole thing. My bully would gobble it down but he'd also get sick from it because it was just too much for one feeding. Everything in moderation.
Surprise - She says, "It was his (Shoka's) favorite cake ever!!" Isn't that what she says about each of the kids' birthday parties? Or, their many holidays, etc.?
bm
Gosh, is anyone surprised by Lisa Bloom? To me it appears she's jumped on every high-publicity bandwagon she ever saw, from her endless talking-head spots on cable news to her most recent walk of shame with Harvey W. She's just like her mother: Gloria Allred never saw a scandal she couldn't find a profitable, TV-worthy angle to. I don't think either of these women have genuinely advanced the feminist cause an iota. But their bank accounts no doubt tell a different story.
The Daily Mail is reporting: "Lisa Bloom was aware of Harvey Weinstein allegations last October - before she was hired by disgraced mogul and given a TV deal within six months".
-----------
There was a lengthy commentary recently on television concerning what Lisa knew and what she kept hidden, and her connection to HW.
I see that Mom Gloria, the Ambulance Chaser, is representing Summer Zervos in her lawsuit against Trump. No surprise there.
There was an extremely important part of the screenwriter's article that was not posted here that supports the obvious explanation for why people who knew about Harvey kept quiet. Not because of this B.S. about fear, but because of the money. Look what he gave this guy. Superbowl tickets, seven days in a row of Broadway tickets, a 12 day trip to St. Barth's! I wouldn't be surprised if he were lavishing everyone with gifts like these whether they knew or not, just to be extra safe and cover himself in case they did know or might know at some point in the future.
These people need to own why they did what they did and stop trying to blame it on "rape culture" or whatever the hell made up fantasy they're trying to blame it on. This is the worst part of this story, the total lack of responsibility from 98% of Hollywood. If they came right out and acknowledged their role, they wouldn't have looked nearly so bad as they do right now.
“Hell, Harvey once took me to St. Barth’s for Christmas. For 12 days! I was a broke-a** kid from Boston who had never even HEARD of St. Barth’s before he booked my travel. He once got me tickets to the seven hottest Broadway shows in one week. So I could take a new girlfriend on a dazzling tour of theater. He got me seats on the 40-yard-line to the Super Bowl, when the Patriots were playing the Packers in New Orleans. Even got me a hotel room, which was impossible to get that weekend,” Rosenberg writes. “He gave and gave and gave and gave. He had a monarch’s volcanic generosity when it came to those within his circle. And a Mafia don’s fervent need for abject loyalty from his capos and soldiers.”
Let me wrap my mind around this. An attorney who labels herself a woman's rights attorney turns around and advises Harvey on how to come out smelling like roses after the sexual abuse allegations??
OMG!
What's her excuse? Feared being ostracized?
People, get a grip. She was probably looking forward to Christmas in St. Barth's before the internet exploded on her and she had to step down.
And Brownie sniffs on:

And the really stupid people flame on!
XXXXX Honestly I love this!!! Kate! I love that you love your kids and your dogs soooooo much! We have watched every season... and I remember when I didn’t think that you would love having the dogs around, but it melts my heart because I am such a dog lover to!!!! They are so lucky to have an awesome family that loves them so much!!!! 🐕🐕🐾❤️
So I watched the video of Shoka eating his cake. Outside of K8, there are maybe two kids there? Where's everyone else? No boys, apparently. Maybe everyone else was punished?
Actually, if this really took place LAST night (which seems likely, given the prep work involved), maybe most of the tups were with Dad. I guess we'll never know. :)

There is something so deeply offensive about this story and I've struggled to try to explain it. I think what it is is that there is this implication that EVERYBODY ELSE made this so hard for them to report and that it's really the general public's fault, not theirs, that Harvey kept getting away with this. Huh? It's OUR fault??
They claim, without evidence, that HR departments weren't going to be there for them, police weren't going to be there for them, that other bosses and employees wouldn't support them, that nobody in general would have supported them. When the reality is there has been a mountain of unwavering support for women disclosing "metoo" this week, and a mountain of wrath against Harvey. So how does that proposition play out in reality? It just doesn't add up. It's not true. It's.a.LIE.
Meanwhile, we find out how much money they made off Harvey in cold hard cash plus incredible perks. But they want to collect that and then turn around and say you, everybody else, that includes me and you, didn't not create an environment where I could tell anyone so really this is all everybody else's fault. (Oh and they collected our movie tickets, too.)
So not only are they collecting OFF the backs of other victims that will come after them surely, but they want to blame the general public, too, most of whom did NOTHING wrong and in fact would have done the RIGHT thing if just given the opportunity. The whole thing is so outrageous, delusional and a big fat gas light I can't even wrap my mind around it.

People, get a grip. She was probably looking forward to Christmas in St. Barth's before the internet exploded on her and she had to step down.
**************
I haven't seen anyone making excuses for her, so I'm not sure why anyone needs to "get a grip." Just another sleazebag lawyer out to make a buck...no real shock there. The profession is full of them.

I don't think someone is a slezzebag for giving a guy legal advice. Everyone should be able to speak to a lawyer when the shit hits the fan because once in awhile there will be some innocent ones among them and that's why we have to give the best advice to all. You will want that "sleazebag lawyer" to talk to you when you're wrongfully accused.
The problem here is not that a lawyer gave Harvey advice. The problem is that she has built her career around championing woman's rights, then turns around and works with someone knowing full well how much they have hurt woman. It doesn't matter if she was his housekeeper or his dentist or whatever, if she knowingly helped him knowing she stands for everything he is against, that's wrong.
It's actually a big deal, because it's just more evidence that a lot of these "women's rights" people are fake, and duping you to make money. It wouldn't be a big deal if people didn't give her the time of day, but people fall for it hook line and sinker. Women have worshipped those two, so, this is actually an important story.
Funny too how lawyers are all sleazebags until you're the next Steven Avery. Then you need them.
Check out the story of lawyer Shon Hopwood to just get a tiny insight into the kind of work that is going on in the legal profession that you never hear about, that never gets recognition, that is buried behind all the nasty jokes your lot just loves to make. 60 Minutes did such a compelling piece on him this week that Steve Kroft called it one of the best stories he's ever been a part of. I am deeply honored that I get to see and take part in this sort of thing on a daily basis, so I guess I'm proud to be a sleezebag. Your snide comment aimed at me will not stop all the good work being done you'll never care about.
Even though his owner is an idiot, I have to say Shoka is a gorgeous dog.
Well, since dog-loving mama Kate won't mention it..happy birthday to Nala...wherever you are.
Admin - I think if we tapped on some of these women's rights advocate's heads we'd hear a hollow sound.
All these excuses coming out are really disillusioning. You're right. Some honesty might be slightly more redeeming.
LOL, of course you would turn it into an attack on "women's rights" people rather than considering the possibility that your chosen profession is full of people who will do anything for a buck.
&&&&
Oh right because no other profession has its share of people who just want to make money. Wow, what an anomaly to lawyers! LOL!!!!
You're very ignorant. Many, many lawyers are salaried, including me, with no billable hours, so there is no motivation to lower yourself to make that extra buck because the bucks are all the same. No one needs to go topless and chase down Weinstein because you make the same amount of money whether your represent him or the guy down the street. Your boss reviews you on how you performed on the case, not on how much money you brought in because the money is already pre-set and nothing you do changes that. The court gives you all your clients fairly and equally, so there is no competition for clients either. The best thing I ever did in my life was spend 7 years in school to do this, this is the most rewarding career and if you don't have something equally rewarding then well, I just feel sorry for you.
I actually am well aware of plenty of good work being done by attorneys. You know nothing about me or what I do or do not know, so do not make assumptions. Doesn't change the fact that there are lots of sleazebags in the profession.
&&&
There are a lot of sleazebags in most professions. The world is full of sleazebags. What's important is to carve out a career where you generally avoid that. For instance if you are a lawyer, find an area of law that attracts good people for the right reasons, such as foster care law. If you are an actress, refuse to work with the likes of Harvey Weinstein. If you are a football player, don't work with pedophiles. If you are a teacher, avoid management and the unions or pursue something like Teach for America. Contrary to what Hollywood would have us believe, it's not that hard to lead a good and moral life.
I know you watch a lot of TV, but 99% of lawyering looks nothing like what's on TV.

The main thing TLC needs to worry about as far as further filming of K+8 is the kids growing up. They spent the kids' entire childhoods covering up the abuse they suffered, all in the interest of exploiting them for as long as possible. But now the G kids are getting closer to adulthood, and some of them show signs of being emotionally strong enough to raise some serious hell about how they were treated. Hannah is strong-minded and according to reports is disturbed by the abuse of Collin. She does not seem like she's inclined to stay quiet about what happened and about TLC's involvement. Collin was obviously mistreated and forced to work even as he struggled to cope. There's a story there and it will come out one day. If TLC is smart, they will distance themselves from the Gosselins in the hopes that the family won't be newsworthy by the time the kids reach adulthood. But TLC brass has never been smart enough to distance themselves before disaster strikes (Josh Duggar and Toby Willis, anyone?). They keep ending up doing damage control when news breaks of their "talent" behaving badly. The Gs could be their worst nightmare since so many people fell in love with the kids as toddlers and will be interested in hearing what was done to them to keep the show going.

Admin, I think you have mistaken the true modus operandi of Lisa Bloom here. She has been a talking head on cable news for nigh on two decades, and if you've ever paid any attention to what she is brought in to comment on, you'd recognize her as an opportunist of the first order. If she doesn't have FAMEWHORE tattooed on her somewhere, it's only because her chase for the spotlight hasn't left her enough time. At least her mom usually shows up with a client. Lisa Bloom, not so much. I can't believe any lawyer who works outside of the media glare would take her seriously for more than half a second. She is strictly a PR play---and not a very good one, at that.

I was a pre-schooler when I over heard my mother and my aunt discussing a woman who had "lost her baby". I fretted for the longest time wondering if that unfortunate woman ever found her child.
&&&
Oh dear, that's sad.
I remember being traumatized by the miscarriage episode on Webster. Seriously, wth was that?!
*****************
I saw the original airing of Webster as a grown up and I was shocked. When I read your post, I had a flashback of Webster sitting on the couch and remembering that it wasn't a miscarriage, but something else.
So I watched the 3 part episode of "In the Family Way on youtube. I had forgotten the miscarriage but I was right about the bad part of it. Katherine was a little happy but scared about having a baby. George was beyond thrilled.
Webster was jealous from the beginning because he thought nobody would love him and he complained to Catherine about how unhappy he was about it.
She thought about it and decided to terminate the pregnancy without telling George. She got up the next morning to go to the hospital and she looked at George asleep in the bed and then realized would the baby look like him sleeping as sweet as he was sleeping?
She then went shopping for the nursery. Webster was jealous from the beginning because he thought nobody would love him. Exhausted because of the shopping trip, she was resting and talking to Webster.
All of a sudden, she started cramping and it escalated. She went to the hospital and she miscarried the baby. Webster realized how wrong he was and wished he could have a baby brother or baby sister and be a big brother.
OT- I was in a grocery store yesterday and glanced at the People magazine. Chip and Joanna Gaines were on the cover and it teased about the "real" reason they are stopping the show.
It came down to their kids.
I know! Shocker!
They said the kids are getting older- I think one is a teen now- and they didn't want filming to dominate their lives. Chip and Joanna recognize that filming, even if done together, is very time consuming and invasive.
They filmed 11/12 months a year.
They don't want their kids to go through awkward times with bad hair, acne and braces, on tv, and then say, "Mom and Dad, why did you do that to us?"
Oh...and the kids are most definitely NOT over the moon about the film crew being ever present.
At least the kids understand that crew is not family and should never substitute for one.
I think Chip and Joanna are actually talented and they managed to build a business, so they'll be just fine.
Kate is nothing but a has-been reality tv star/tabloid queen who's managed to turn just about everything she touches into shit.
The exception is the book that Beth wrote.
I really think it comes down to Kate being bone lazy. After a decade of being a "mom" on tv and becoming a household name, she squandered any good will she had because she hates her ex husband, never chose her children first, has sent a child away and has generally treated people like crap, if not screwed them out of money (Beth).
As they saying goes, be nice to people on your way up...because you're going to see them on your way down.
Kate never did that. She thought she richly deserved everything and more, and that it would never end.
The Gs could be their worst nightmare since so many people fell in love with the kids as toddlers and will be interested in hearing what was done to them to keep the show going.
^^^^^
It will be interesting to see what TLC does when the truth about filming comes out.
There are people who are fully aware of how Kate treated the kids and how she forced filming. We know from former nannies that Kate used corporal punishment to keep the kids in line for filming and otherwise.
Kate's abuse will come to light one day and TLC will be on the hook for having chosen greed over the well being of children.
I know you watch a lot of TV, but 99% of lawyering looks nothing like what's on TV.

Agree. That's why I make pupcakes (cupcake size) so my dog and her friend- wouldn't attempt a party!- can each enjoy them in moderation and have one the next day. The ones I make have either peanut butter or cream cheese frosting in a thin layer, a mini milkbone on top, and carrots and other dog friendly ingredients.
Holy guacamole, that Webster episode was even worse than what I remembered. She would terminate a pregnancy just because her older kid didn’t like it? Like no older sibling has ever been upset to find out a baby’s coming! The hell?!
^^^^^
Me too ;-)
Me too feeling like, "huh?" and feeling like mine is not a PC opinion.
Of course Harvey and all the Harveys of the world are to blame for this abuse of women, but there is onus on the women who became victims and said nothing.
I'm sure Harvey could ruin a career, but are further victims not worth the personal challenges?
I think most of these actresses-if they were honest- chose expediency over advocacy. They chose the path of least resistance to get their A-list careers.
When I think about Ashley Judd, who gave a tour de force performance as a "naaaaasty woman" during the Women's March in D.C., I can see were her immense anger came from.
And it wasn't Donald Trump.
There she was, irate and vulgar, spewing her invectives at someone who said something crass (yes, it was a totally awful thing to say), and for decades, kept her silence (at least not naming names publicly) about a known serial sexual predator.
Yes, thanks for coming forward, but women have been raped, abused and had to witness this guy masturbating in front of them in the interim.
We have to do a better job at encouraging women to report these crimes, not just doing it when they've gotten their roles, their millions and their stupid little statues.
^^^^^
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
And WE are the ones being gaslighted with intimidation.
Speaking out as a women, it like we are being shamed into accepting this b.s. narrative, because God forbid we say, "you could have done or said something, but chose silence and other women suffered as a result".
Harvey's victims didn't choose to be his victims. I think many tried to escape situation where they knew they could be in danger. But, they were victims and it's now very convenient to make excuses as to why they never even tried to stop him.
I'd have a far less difficult time believe that all of the motivation for their silence was their trauma, if money, fame and power weren't involved.
It's like they were hurt by Harvey, but his money and opportunities were more appealing than doing the right thing.
Oh, and DH told me that Myam Bialik apologized for her op-ed, which is just infuriating.

Yep. I find it kind of interesting that the few that spoke out tended to be the less wealthy and famous, the one hit wonders who maybe had made just one movie with him or had a couple encounters. What a coinky-dink, they had much less to lose. The ones who kept their trap sealed shut just happened to be the ones who rose to the very top of Hollywood. What.a.coinky-dink. Wonder if he took them to St. Bart's.
I don't buy into this idea that once you are a victim you can skirt all morality, and that's it's "victim blaming" otherwise. As I've said, I also don't buy that a victim can chose whether they will report this. No, you have a duty to. No, not with something like this. Not when he's a serial harasser and abuser who is going to keep hurting people even potentially minors. Put on your big girl panties and do the RIGHT THING.
The two are not mutually exclusive. Being a victim in all this is awful, and one can be 100% against Harvey and 100% in support of his victims while still expecting his victims to be good and decent people and do the right thing.
Women's rights does not mean skirt all responsibility and I will forever be opposed to anyone who defines it this way. Quite the opposite, when one expects equal rights, one should expect equal standards too, including the highest of moral standards. We do women a huge disservice by not expecting them to stop this cycle once and for all and report each and every incident of harassment, by name, location and details, to the proper chain of authorities. Let's get real, there are men who are always going to be like this. It's not going to be enough to just expect men to stop this. We must stop it ourselves. If men knew that each and every time they behaved inappropriately the woman on the other end is going to report it, you would finally see a sea change.

^^^^^
I think Lisa Bloom thought she had a shot at getting Harvey through this relatively intact.
Intact enough to further her optioned book and btw, Bloom had already mounted a smear campaign against Harvey's victims by sending photos of women posing, smiling, arm in arm with Harvey to various media outlets.
Where are the women raising hell about this??
I'm sure Harvey could ruin a career, but are further victims not worth the personal challenges?
&&&
Well, and that's what I haven't heard hardly anyone say. Let's assume for argument's sake, which to me is a true hypothetical, that Harvey truly had the power to "ruin" someone for all time to come (and by the way, producers like him are a dime a dozen in Hollywood, you could find somebody else to make you if you truly have talent.)
But let's say you know with 100% certainty if you report this, your career in Hollywood is ruined. But if you don't report it more women, even minors, are going to be sexually harassed and deeply scarred and possibly raped. It's kind of like the proverbial sell your soul. So, your choice is your career, on the backs of those future woman?? What!
I mean, talk about not willing to take any kind of moral stand when the going gets actually tough.
And, there's so many other things you could do with your gifts and talents besides working with that guy or working in Hollywood that would lead to a fulfilling career.
Make no mistake, these women were faced with a moral dilemma, and many of them took the low road. And now all their guilt-ridden millions later they want to turn around and blame the public for it, which is even more appalling.
I am excluding the few that did report it out of this scenario, like Ambra and Courtney Love of all people.
I don't think either of these women have genuinely advanced the feminist cause an iota. But their bank accounts no doubt tell a different story.
^^^^^
I don't think many of the high profile so-called feminists have.
Alred and Bloom are opportunists first and foremost.
The HW issue is infuriating. How could so many A-list stars keep their mouths shut when they knew what he was doing? Are they really so self-absorbed? They enabled him, plain and simple.
^^^^^
Layla- I so agree, and it's a shame that in today's culture, we're not allowed to even say this publicly.
These women didn't ask to be victims, but that doesn't release them from their duty to help prevent other women from becoming victims.
For. Decades!!

That's Hollywood for ya.
And they have the nerve to preach to us as they look down their noses.
I'm looking at YOU, Meryl Streep.
Linda Bloodworth Thomason is thanking "Ashley Judd, Rose McGowan and all you other stand-up, kick-ass females who have been willing to risk everything for the rest of us."
Um, Ashley Judd waited 20 years for someone to name the lecherous creep and only then did she add her name to the long list of his victims. Now she's one of the 'sacrificial lambs' who risked everything? What's at risk? She's secured a career in the industry. This big Hollywood shake-up will certainly help her promote her new movie too, coincidentally. Or is that a nasty thing to say?
Rest assured when Weinsten talks again, and a big mouth like him will talk, he will bring down both men and women with him.
It's hard to believe that since 'everybody knew' his reputation and the lengthy history of it, that aside from his victims there will be people we haven't heard about yet who were compensated for turning a blind eye to this.
Realitytvkids.com ~ 163
Geeze, get a grip. Men with money and power have been harassing, threatening, intimidating and sexually abusing women since the beginning of time while everyone looks the other way. It's happening somewhere right now!
But since this is the darlings of the entertainment industry it's getting beaten to death by the media, story after story after story and all the celebrity watching groupies are getting all frothed up. Of course the groupies aren't at all upset that the media is making a bundle off all the reporting, victimizing the victims for another 10 or 15 stories.
If it had happened and does happen in any other industry it wouldn't be a blip on the radar.
Of course it's a terrible, terrible thing.
So is child porn, sex trafficking, drug money to finance terrorists.
To correct my comment (189), sorry, I meant to say it's hard to believe there WON'T be more people who were compensated for turning a blind eye.

Which leads me to believe he actually has a shot at getting is job back. He's going to threaten to bust this scandal wide open because he knows where the bodies are buried.
The abusers and sexual predators also know Harvey knows where the bodies are buried.
Look for him to get on some rehab/reform narrative and insinuate himself back into Hollywood.
I think Harvey is only done if he's criminally charged and prosecuted.
If it had happened and does happen in any other industry it wouldn't be a blip on the radar.
^^^^
I think a big reason that the story is getting so much traction is that Hollywood has become so damn holier than thou, so it's a bit of schadenfreude to see the likes of Meryl Streep get knocked off her high horse and look like the complete opposite of the feminist she likes to think she is.
Of course she knew, but that wouldn't really go over so well, what with her scolding Americans for casting their vote for Trump, would it?
She's in quite the predicament, isn't she?
If it had happened and does happen in any other industry it wouldn't be a blip on the radar.

I don’t know about that. Big stories of similar veins have come out of the Catholic Church and football and schools and got massive attention.
That being said, I don’t believe this level of harassment is as rampant as you claim, occurring every hour or whatever you said. I don’t think that’s fair to say of people who for the most part behave appropriately at work. The vast majority of the hundreds of men I’ve worked with since I was 15 years old have been nothing but respectful and appropriate with me and my female counterparts. In 15 years I’ve only needed to go to HR once and it was for an inappropriate though not sexual comment that was from a man. I reported it. That same day. Can other women say the same?
As tucker said the reason this gets a lot of attention is because they’ve lead the charge on women’s rights while at the same time hiding their own dark secrets, while not doing the right thing themselves.
I don’t think reporting a relevant story is revictinizing the victims. I think insisting such things be kept quiet as if it’s shameful as you seem to want is revictimizing. Nor do I think the media is making more money off this than they are off say trump. Money is rolling in regardless.
And yeah, I don’t lump Judd into the small group of brave women who did report this. She reported years later when she had nothing to lose and many others were hurt. That’s the very opposite of brave.
I think people are pissed a major blow to the left has gone down and that’s why people want it to go away. It’s an inconvenient truth as they say.
It's all horrible, and people deal with that, any many other things every day. But to demonize feminists? Why are we not talking about the misogynists as well? Why do the 2 topics have to be separate? This is how you get someone in the highest office in the world where he is today. Women making excuses for him, and men championing him. I don't hear women say, "Weinstein is a dog, but he sure made great movies". Instead I hear, "I don't condone the president's comments/behaviour/words, but his policies are great. And She was the devil". How is this any different?
I don't get it. And I'm not trying to spark any political arguments - I just don't get it.
The Daily Mail is reporting Tom Jones reveals he was sexually harassed in the early days of his career and that men as well as women are preyed upon.
I guess in the case of Tom Jones you might say, 'it's not unusual'.
bm
But to demonize feminists?

People are talking about both. Can you explain what you mean?. Funny I actually see it as just the opposite. Those who looked the other way on Weinstein did not give trump the same courtesy. Again, huge hypocrisy there that should be downright alarming given they are often role models for young people. Don’t confuse the hypocrisy being pointed out as somehow condoning any kind of inappropriate behavior. They are not the same thing.
