Without or without the show I gather that this family and these children, their relationships would have been like this and fallen apart regardless because Kate raised them. And this is Kate and her behavior. So I suppose television only hastened this perhaps.

&&&

I agree with this. These kids didn't have a chance because their mother is Kate.

The show didn't HELP anything, in fact I think the show was terribly detrimental to their emotional health, but the crux of the problem is Kate. The show was a symptom, was one of many of Kate's choices that f-ed them up. The show was because of Kate's choices.

Xxxxxx Hope in UK we only got two episodes of your dating adventures then TLC stopped it??????

&&&

Spoiler alert, Brits. She don't end up with nobody.

'And this is Kate and her behavior. So I suppose television only hastened this perhaps."

Yeah, I think Kate would've caused trouble in the family without TV. It's just that TV gave her money and power over Jon when he wanted out.

Season 7, episode 1? So it is, in fact, a new season. Let's not forget, however, that Season 6 was only 3 episodes. For all we know, Season 7 could only be one.

She did a new IG post just as the episode came on:

I despise this witch so much that I still haven't even watched the clip. I could never watch the episode, I've already read enough about it.

As I've said before, TFW should be ashamed of herself over the state of her family at this point. So many fractured relationships. So many wasted years. So much time that cannot be recovered. So many lost opportunities. So much dysfunction and so much damage.

If Kate actually thought for two seconds before forcing her kids to be famous, she might have thought about the dark side of fame.

Look what it's done to Prince Harry, who also never asked for this. As for Meghan, I fear this relationship is doomed. From the tone of his letter, she has clearly been much more emotionally wrecked by media treatment of her than they have let on, and my personal speculation is that this lawsuit is a last ditch effort for Harry to try to show her that he will do everything he can to make her new life more peaceful. I think she will finally have to leave him, not because she doesn't care about him but because she won't be able to live like this for the rest of her life.

Layla (#4), my onscreen program guide says Season 6, Episode 4. That last season that aired two years ago was Season 6 and it had three episodes.

Also, according to my program guide, next week in this time slot they're re-airing tonight's season premiere of Outdaughtered. No Famewhore + 4.

Anonymous said... 9

I was curious how they would do the opening. They used to have music and cutesy name introductions for each child. Tonight all I saw was black letters saying Kate plus 8 and the 8 was purple I believe. Talk about low budget.

FlimsyFlamsy said... 10

M (#9), after they bought the crab, TLC had no more money in the budget to fix the credits.

Former Lurker said... 11

I just checked TLC's Instagram and they did one post about nine hours ago (and it only has 102 comments). It's a pic of Cara as a small child and they posted this comment with it:

Time flies when you’re having fun! #KatePlus8

Tune in to an all-new #KatePlus8 special TONIGHT at 10/9c.

https://www.instagram.com/p/B3FYl-4FZY2/

&&&&&&&&&&&

Note that TLC is referring to it as a "special". It's not the premiere of a new season.

Former Lurker said... 12

I just checked TLC's Twitter and they just spent two hours doing a ton of tweets and retweets about Outdaughtered.

What about Famewhore + 4? Well, they tweeted a clip at 12:45 today and another one at 3:00. Then at 10 pm, just as the episode was hitting the air, they did ONE tweet and that's it:

TLC Network @TLC
·
1h

Mady and Cara grew up so fast! See them off to college on a new #KatePlus8 special starting NOW.

Former Lurker said... 13

As far as ratings, if that Outdaughtered show is popular, I'm thinking their ratings will be good for a two hour season premiere that includes a birthday. It's highly likely that TLC did a lot of promos for Famewhore + 4 during the Outdaughtered show, and I bet a lot of people just left the TV on out of curiosity when her show came on. It might get good ratings just because of that.

Giff said... 14

She is such a bitch! Talking on Instagram saying how hard their lives are and how, she was protecting them while others tried to destroy them. She is crazy. Period.

On twitter someone said that Kate stated on the show that Hannah is no longer on it.Did she admit what happen to Hannah or did she just claim Hannah doesn't want to be on?

Her last IG post is unbelievable.

Kateplusmy8 I love these kids fiercely...and I don’t apologize for my tears. Times have been so tough and so needlessly unfair for them. Despite it all, they’ve turned out to be such wonderful amazing human beings. I cannot wait to see what lies ahead for each of them once they get away from those who have tried to destroy them versus protect them! #kateplus8 @TLC

What an inflammatory post! Just WTF! We all know that she’s talking about Jon and I’d like to know how he’s tried to destroy them. Maybe by not wanting the divorce filmed? Maybe by not signing off on letting the “little kids” film the dating show because it might be harmful to them? Maybe by giving a loving home to Hannah and Collin? Does she realize how this sounds because the twins are getting away from HER and they seemingly made no bones about not wanting to return. It seems to me that Jon is the one who has always wanted to protect them even it it meant his not seeing them because the FW+4 poisoned their minds against him. She’s the one who has done the damage and she’s the one who will ultimately have to answer for it. The FW+4 and TLC destroyed this family.

Sad but true said... 18

I didn't pick up all her lame comments tonight, sorry. But here is her last photo caption today:

"...time have been so tough and needlessly unfair ..."

WHAT the F is she TALKING about? The fact that her children have a FATHER who may have been concerned along the way about how HIS children were being raised? They've had it "so tough and needlessly unfair"??? Looking at the twins' expressions here, you can tell that THEY don't even believe that---"WTF Mommy?"

I don't think there's any question that the ones who've escaped---Hannah and Collin and the twins---will, maybe grudgingly come to the conclusion that all along, Mommy was the problem. And I hope they get there without too much more time spent on self-recrimination. Been there, done that, nothing to be gained by it. They ALL look like PTSD survivors.

Sad but true said... 19

OMG, can I just say? The custom-fitted PLASTIC over the dining-room tablecloth? Who besides people with toddlers does that? Is her cloth underneath the plastic SO valuable that she can't risk any spills? Are her 6 x 14-18-y/o children so inadequately trained that there's no way they WON'T mar this not-believably-valuable tablecloth?

FlimsyFlamsy said... 20

Giff (#14), and as usual, she's so bloody tone deaf. There are real single moms out there who work 2 jobs to keep their families afloat.
Mothers who can't dream of sending their kids to college like TFW can because there is simply not enough money. Parents whose children have cancer or other cruel and debilitating diseases which become the focus of their every waking moment. They don't want to hear this heifer dramatically complaining about her children's hard-knock lives.

Bitch takes no responsibly for her role on this. She bears the BULK of the responsibility. Jon would have nothing at all to say about much of anything of this but for all her decisions, from Collin and beyond.

&&&&

Despite it all, they’ve turned out to be such wonderful amazing human beings.

&&&

All due respect to these kids, and to be clear, this is not their fault, but with the exception of Collin who has a heart made of pure gold, I don't see this kids as all that wonderful and amazing. Many of them are rude, snotty, bitter, entitled, unjust and unfair to others and the egos on some of them are really disheartening. She molded kids who sound like a real pain to be around, not on a kid like Collin where you think gosh he'd be such a fun and interesting nephew/stepson/friend to have around.

Omg, I can't believe she posted that! What a bitch!! And, her kids have had it so hard? Give me a freaking break. I know a family where the father had a stroke at a relatively young age a couple of years ago. Their sixteen year old had to carry his father's wheelchair up the stairs every night and downstairs every morning, and also help his father go up and down one step at a time the way they were taught in the rehab center. He had to take over all the things his dad used to do, like climbing up in the attic to change the A/C filters, and so many other things. This kid decided in his own to stay home and commute to college so he could continue to be there to help his family. But, these spoiled brats have had it so hard? F@ck you, FW+4!!

Former Lurker said... 24

&&&

Can I just say this? I've seen a whole lot of cases in court over the years, a whole lot of trials involving children. And a lot of them involved mentally ill people. And what she says hear sounds a whole lot like a delusional mentally ill woman mouthing off out of turn in court.

Mentally ill people can see the world as upside down. Can see persecution when their is none, and often have difficulty even seeing their role in events let alone why they have harmed their child.

In their minds, a child is not being taken away from their abuse by child protective services, in fact the only abuse that occurred was perpetrated by child protective services.

There is no question to me she is deep into her mental illness.

She's totally certifiable. I could offer her some stories too of hardship that have nothing to do with sitting on millions being mad that the other parent of your children isn't totally INSANE. Poor her.

Jon, why couldn't you see this woman for who she was before you had eight innocent children with her?

Whack-a-mole whacko.

What is that famous column on motherhood where she talks about not worrying so much about spills and dents and all the other little childhood mishaps? I'm blanking on what it's called or where to find it but it was excellent. It was mentioned here before maybe years ago.

Former Lurker said... 30

I agree with you, Admin. I was going to say that she really is clearly mentally ill.

She claims "...once they get away from those who have tried to destroy them versus protect them!"

Bitch, we know you have this all backwards and you think their father is the bad guy here. But, how can you be happy that they're getting away from him when you've already kept them away from him for YEARS?!

I truly hope that with time and distance they realize that SHE is the source of all the problems in that family.

This really sounds like low-budget show. No real
intro or new pictures. They drove to NC, stayed a few days, toured a college. Sounds like they rode go-carts, did a jump thing, and ate crab. Did I miss anything? Compare this to earlier years when they took vacations to Australia, New Zealand, Cancun... the production budget definitely sounds like it is way lower than before. I wonder what affect that has had on her salary. I hope they've lowered it drastically after so many years of bad ratings. She doesn't deserve to make huge profits off her children's labor.

Canadian posters, I was chatting with my Canadian friends earlier and when I told them we're supposed to have a fierce winter (I want snow!!!), they said that's a good thing because I have an excuse to buy lots of storm chips. You mean I can use snowstorms as an excuse to buy and consume vast quantities of chips? Why didn't I know this? I would've started years ago. Now I'm kicking myself over all the yummy chips I missed out on eating every time it snowed.

I so agree! That DR furniture is the ugliest I have ever seen. Any spills would be an improvement. If I were stuck with that crap I'd spill on purpose just so I'd have an excuse to get rid of it and buy something decent.

In the midst of happy family stuff, WHO talks about "those who have tried to destroy" any-fricking-body? It is no longer even close to being a secret that with this sort of mental instability at home every day, the kids left living the compound are shit out of luck. If this is what is uppermost in her head at a time that should be for celebration, god help the 4 left at home when the cameras and production pull out of the driveway.

My take is that Kate had a dream as a teenager.

She was going to become famous & wealthy by having the largest batch of children, a TV show & everything that came with that dream. Her children would be beautiful, smart, and exceptional in every way.

Kate is all about control & manipulation which she used in spades on Jon & the kids. Her dream was fraying around the edges & no matter how much she tried to manipulate the situation, she has just never come to grips with the fact that her dream included live human beings with brains, emotions of their own, and reactions not as planned.

These deviations were all taken as personal attacks that Kate's brain is unable to forget or forgive. Every transgression has been duly filed in her mind as a personal type of tyranny to her plan & goal.

Nothing will ever be her fault because (in her mind) her plan was perfect. It is only the selfish willfulness of any transgressors who are & will continue to be blamed.

She is horribly mentally ill, & if nothing else, all of these years of programming will one day help the children see that illness for what it was & is. One by one they will need therapy in order to break free of the guilt that they could never please their mother. A good therapist & these horrible home movies will heal the pain & they will be free of her.

Kate will not be so lucky & for that, I don't really give a damn.

Giff said... 39

How sad for the kids at home that she has brainwashed them into believing people are out to get them and harm them! Is that how she gets them to stay? And, making them out to be victims of a brother she locked away for three years and a sister who couldn't take anymore and did not want to film?? Mady and Cara left for the "right" reasons??? As opposed to Kate disowning them or standing up to her?? They threatened KATE's way of life. Those kids would be perfectly fine without the show, but Kate, not so much. She truly sounded delusional. I have no hope that she will ever come to the realization that she is the only cause of any "hardships." I hope Jon tells everything and finally puts an end to this mentally ill woman's exploitation of her children.

JR said... 40

Narcissism at its finest... it’s everyone’s else’s fault but hers...she does have a mental illness which is on display with those comments... she uses projection, blaming, takes no responsibility, and puts no value on anyone, she is pure evil! Unfortunately that what NPD is about

Anonymous said... 41

Wow. Kate is truly pathologically obsessed with filming. Those that are protecting her(and her children) are those at TLC. They have made her rich with no effort on her part, they are the ones who have protected her, renovated her house, paid for shopping trips, vacation trips, mulched her damn trees etc etc etc. Those that want to "destroy" her children are simply ALL those who interfere with her filming. That would tragically include her own child. How can TLC not see they have created a obsessed, materialistic monster? READ COLLIN'S LETTER.

Terri said... 42

I noticed that old Skeeve is still in the picture. When they were riding the go carts and Kate dramatically feigned getting hurt he came running to her rescue. Also, the most infuriating part of the entire debacle came when she was crying about how hard the ladt few years have been on the kids. Give ne a break. You know who had it hard? Collin did. Being banished from the family with no contact from that family for three years, now that's what I consider hard. There is a special place in hell for her.

Winsomeone said... 43

The boys seem fairly normal. Maybe because she pretty much has ignored them their whole lives? All of the girls seem obnoxious, and full of themselves. Why do they all think they are so special I wonder? Not a one of them has accomplished anything yet in life? Someone in the near future will knock them all down a peg or two I bet?

--------------------------------

Besides the obvious hateful intent of this comment (which we know is directed at Jon), it doesn't even make logical sense. It's common knowledge that the 6 still with Kate don't see Jon. He's confirmed this. Therefore, the only one I see for them to "get away from" is Kate. You don't need to get away from someone you already don't spend time with. Sounds like someone's emotions were on edge when she posted this....

Didn't she set up Thanksgiving dinners on that table with name cards, menus, flowers and place settings? Caught!

Leah seems to be the second Mady...boys seem ok but now have Mother's number more than before when they were so happy to be able to 'talk to her' while making everyone's school lunch, Alexis seemed a bit more engaged in the couch talk, no sign of Zorro or dogs. But what a group! Talk by text commands, some not at all to one another, weird distant relationship to Mother. They are definitely more savvy about their family and life. Twice Mady said 'Have you met us?' TFW said 'we move on' when 'family members keep leaving.'

I've been reading through the comments here and browsed through the episode last night, and just had to post this morning.

I see so much of myself in Mady's behavior towards her mother.

My mom left me with my grandmother when I was 10 to go date, frolic, and relive her youth. Occasionally during the week, she would have dinner with us, but she was in no way a mother. Because of this, we had/have a completely fractured relationship.

I avoided as much physical contact with her as possible growing up, and like Mady, cringed whenever she was near. Hugging her was like the stabbing of a hundred knives. It was painful, and uncomfortable, and avoided as much as possible. She would say all the time how much she loved me, but it fell on deaf ears. Her actions spoke so much louder than words.

And like Mady, I thought "We'll get along better when we don't live with each other." I'm 30 years old and still require therapy, as I think many of her children will.

I think college for the girls will be like coming up for fresh air. I do believe they will struggle at first, as their mother never taught them so many basic tools needed to survive as an adult, but I do think they will get there eventually. And I truly hope they are humbled along the way.

The letter reading, like this entire episode, was incredibly cringeworthy. It is evident that none of the children are close with her, but those expressionless faces while Kate cried her crocodile tears spoke volumes.

It reminded me of the mother of all awkward interviews on GMA years back when Kate claimed Mady and Cara wanted to go on live TV to defend their mother and then sat there awkwardly and said nothing. All the while Kate's sitting there going "Now's the time to speak up, Mady!"

All too soon, Kate will left by her herself in that big ole house with nothing and no one. She will have successfully pushed every single person away, and like so many before me have said, she will never realize that she was the root of the problem all along.

The plastic in the dining room - last night, reading comments here and seeing the pic on her IG, I thought she just put plastic over the tablecloth. But, the article says:

"Kate put plastic on the table and chairs, to keep them safe from the kids. "

Plastic over the chairs? WTF?? Her precious chairs that they never use? She's nuts.

----

"Each of the kids went around the table and said what they would miss about their sisters.

They had all saved their money to buy the girls gift cards, which made their sisters happy.

'That was the best part of the whole night, the fact that the little kids thought of us,' Mady said."

Gift card? Cold and impersonal, just like TFW. And, we all know that TLC paid for the gift cards. Duh.

----

She read them a speech. What a negative horrible person she is:

Kate read them a speech, which began on a positive note: 'Mady and Cara, you have been such wonderful big sisters and great examples to your younger brothers and sisters.'

She then alluded to her divorce and the siblings that weren't present.

'The fact that for years, all of you, had to endure so much pain, you have come out of it so wise, strong, empathetic, perseverant, smart individuals,' she went on.

'It's unfortunate because you had to endure these things in an effort to learn those lessons, but what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. And you have taken those difficult life experiences, learned valuable lessons.'

'Honestly, in these last few years, you have been the catalyst helping us bond together during these difficult last few years,' she continued.

'You've made sure to remind us that your leaving is temporary and for the better versus our past experiences, when family members have left.'

'You're leaving for the right reasons, and that's awesome.'

Mady and Cara exchanged glances.

'I have realized in the last few days that my denial is because we keep having family members leave,' Kate said tearily. 'But you're not leaving… you're coming back.'

'[Her] crying was a little much,' the little kids told the cameras.

'It's hard to watch your kids who were born on the same day not have the rest of themselves,' Kate said in a private interview. 'I wouldn't wish it on anyone.'

As far as her older girls went, she was just going to try to get by.

'I've decided that one of my unhealthy coping mechanisms to deal with them being gone is I'm just gonna pretend they're upstairs sleeping,' Kate concluded.

JustMissy said... 62

I think we all agree she is certifiable. Who writes a speech on their phone when you are speaking to your immediate family in a small group? I know it was all for the cameras but there is nothing heartfelt about it. And she squealed like a pig when one of the girls said she would miss being Mady’s servant - just to get the camera on her. She’s nuts. And stomping around in those high heeled boots with her sausage legs - she is just vulgar and trying to be young. Rant over.

Mady posted a story on her Instagram. She’s at the table with Alexis, Aaden, and Joel. There are guys behind them and I did see one of them with a camera.

I was just going to post about that. I stumbled across a fan page on IG when I searched the hashtag for the show. Apparently, this fan gets pics and videos from Mady's IG.

For those of us not on IG who can't see anything from their IG stories, here's the video on the fan page:

I'm one of the lucky ones who came from a loving family, not always demonstrative , but we knew we were loved. I can't imagine what life is like for the Gosselin kids with that shrew for a mother. I thought she was nuts before, but now she's unbelievable.

I just hope the ratings tanked when their show came on last night.

I see Mady's instagram story posted late yesterday and it des show a crew filming them eating at the family table (how weird and dysfunctional). However it is hard to tell if this is current as instagram stories don't stop you from posting old photos and videos.

Former Lurker said... 70

I disagree about Hannah. I don' think she would want to go on these trips at all. She's done enough of these scripted, filmed trips and she knows they're not like actual, fun vacations.

Looking at the pics in the Daily Mail article, it looks like they went to that jump place in NC in the rain. Who does that? They HAD to go there on a rainy day because it was the planned filming location for the day. It's in the SCRIPT. The kids all look miserable in that photo.

Hannah knows better. She's not being deprived of some fun family vacations. She's totally over that fake crap with TFW. Based on what we've seen on Jon's IG, Hannah has been fortunate enough to have some REAL, fun family trips this summer. Good for her. Collin too. Good for both of the escapees.

In that Instagram story, they have the same clothes on as their crab dinner so it's most likely an older video uploaded.

Former Lurker said... 72

Admin, based on the pics on TFW's IG, it looks like Mady's video clip is the same meal that was filmed for the episode. Same place settings, plastic on the table, clothes, flowers.

Looking at Mady's video, I see a lace runner on the sideboard in the dining room. TFW's house looks like a 90 year old granny's house. Of course, without TLC paying for it, that house will never be updated.

Right, the comment is even more irrational and mentally ill when you consider the kids ARE away with him. What more does she want to get them away for him. I'm not kidding, doe she want him dead?? Because him being totally absent from most of their lives still doesn't seem to be enough for her. She doesn't even want Collin so what does she care Jon has him?

Meghan is not mentally ill nor is she exploiting or destroying her children or her husband. Her lawsuit is not directed to fans or haters, it's directly about the media, specifically over the media publishing a letter she wrote to her father and leaving out pieces of the letter that gave the letter context. Last I checked nobody here is media publishing someone's letters to their father, nor was anything taken out of context in any manner.

Meghan investigated her "haters" and discovered most of the comments were coming from the same 12 people. Harry very clearly explained that their problem is with the media, not individuals. Try again.

***********
And this is what the kids have been told about their father for the past 10 years. She says he's trying to destroy them (it's obvious she's talking about Jon). No wonder the twins said he was toxic. She can't even write a heartfelt letter telling them she loves them and will miss them when they leave without reminding them that their father is the devil. The whole letter she wrote is about how difficult their lives have been and how people have tried to ruin their lives and abandon them. Are their lives really so horrible? If so, then shame on Kate. She is the one who has torn their family apart, cut off family and friends, exposed the kids to public scrutiny, and sent their brother away forever. She is the cause of it all.

Reading the stories about this show, it sounds like she made it all about her, even though M&C are supposed to be the focus. And I read that that of the two activities the kids all got to participate in (go-carts and jump), none of them except Cara even participated in the jump. Why drag them out to film them doing something nobody wants to do? I'm sure there were plenty of things they would have enjoyed. I guess it all depended upon what TLC was paying for. But--it's nice to see the kids standing up to her and refusing to do things they don't want to do, just because it's being filmed.

Sad but true, thanks for posting that.

This filler episode was such a waste. Good thing they didn't spend much money on it. Like I said yesterday, I think FW+4 must be pretty worried that there really is nothing to film the next few years, other than maybe a 16th birthday next spring (with the four remaining hostages). After that, its another three years until high school and college graduations. There's nothing to film....unless someone gets pregnant.

Layla said... 95

800,000 viewers is pretty much inline with the ratings for K+D8, which averaged 784,000 per episode (IIRC). So throwing the remaining kids back into the mix and marketing this as a "special" didn't really help. TLC has to know by now that this is the best they can expect from the Gosselins. They will never break 1M viewers again--ever. The kids get less interesting as they get older, and there are fewer of them around to carry a show. To quote Kate, "And that will never change!".

Giff said... 96

I'll tell you why she set up the jump, so she could remind everyone the tower SHE jumped (was pushed) of off of in New Zealand was 700 feet and the kids were only jumping a measly 100 feet. She has to feel superior to someone even if it is her own children.

Former Lurker--it was very interesting. I work from home so was able to put the TV on low while keeping an ear and an eye open for any Kate+6 commercials (I refuse to refer to the show as K+8 after she threw Collin away and Hannah was able to escape). I saw more of the Busbys then I ever wanted to and while there are some differences between their show and J&K+8, they do a lot of the same things and their 'struggles' seem the same. There were roughly 15+ commercials for Outdaughtered, 10 for 90 Day Fiance, 5 for Unexpected, 12+ for Counting On with JimBoob's talking head front and center--surprise!--they filmed Grandma Duggar's funeral, and 5 for something new called Taken at Birth.

Yes they did flashback to TFMJG's New Zealand jump in all her screeching glory and she yammered on about it. The kids' "issue" with the jump station is you had to step off and they could not be pushed off. At the same place with the jump station there was also some sort of kayak course, water was moving pretty fast, that I thought the kids would have enjoyed more.

Last, but not least, there was film of TFMJG taking one of the past back to school pics--there were either 7 or 8 kids in the pic. Makes me think there is some sort of People article out there since she never posted this year's pic.

Layla said... 104

I'm thinking they're not changing the name of the show because Jon won't sign off for the 4 remaining tups to film a new show. He must have signed off on K+8, season 6 a few years ago so anything further that is filmed has to be listed under that title, and that season. they can't rename the show and they can't contract for a new season. Of course, I'm just speculating, but it makes sense to me. If I'm right, then there won't be much K+8 between now and the time the tups turn 18. They had to have contracted for a specific number of episodes for the season and they're already down 4. If It's a normal 8-episode season then they can only do 4 more (over the next 2 1/2 years) with the younger kids in them. But I could be wrong...

A couple of takeaways I got from the Daily Mail story. Kate said she wanted to throw the twins out the door, (I’m paraphrasing here), when they were in a mood. Cara’s response to that was she wanted to leave when Kate was mean and she wanted to leave when Kate was nice. Cara don’t like her momma. Also, in the picture of Kate leaning in to hug Cara, she has her arms fully around Cara but Cara just has her arm under Kate’s, not hugging her, and her hand is not open but in a fist like shape. Was not interested in the hug.

The problem is Meghan's accusations are unfounded and untrue. She would not be able to sue otherwise. I have yet to see Kate bring a successful suit or any suit against this blog's contentions.

Again, I think she is bitterly referring to Jon stopping filming as him having "tried to destroy them!" Filming and money are all she cares about.

&&&

It's very telling how her brain works, isn't it? One parent made a decision he felt was in the best interest of their child, and one that happened to have a financial impact on Kate. That was a side effect, and not the main point of the decision. Most parents who disagree on matters when it comes to their children are at least able to understand the other parent is just trying to do what they feel is best and can at least try to understand where they're coming from, even if they don't agree.

But in her mind Jon isn't just making a decision for the kids just like she makes decisions for the kids. Instead it's all about her, and Jon destroying her.

That's the narcissism, and the psychosis. Jon doesn't care what money she does or doesn't make nor can he be bothered to think about how to bring her down. It's not about HER.

NJGal51 said... 109

Many people asked in the IG comments if there would be more episodes and/or if this was the start of a new season. She did not answer any of them, not even a winkey smiley face to tease them. You know that she would have answered if anything was in the works because she loves to tease her fans when she knows positively that the show will go on. Will there be more specials? Probably, I’m guessing that she’s pitching the tups sweet sixteen even as we speak and this may the root cause of her tirade last night because Jon won’t sign off on it - especially for Collin. She and TLC are taking a lot of flack over the fact that she’s treating Collin as if he never existed. Fame Whore Plus 4 is really a bore especially since the remaining girls don’t seem to get along.

FlimsyFlamsy said... 110

Remember when TFW said if she had it to do over again, she wouldn't have had the tups? Well, judging by her lack of emotion about -- or even acknowledgement of -- C's absence, I think if she was given the choice to do the show over again, knowing it would mean losing her son, I believe 100% she would do it. The fame and fortune is her raison d'etre, not her kids.

She was clearly complaining and referring that it wasnt a vacation. I cant believe she allowed those comments to air!
In another part when she is complaining that the boys team up against her in the car racing attraction, she referred to them as those stinky boys. Really? Referring to 15 years old kids like that in National tv? What an horrible mother!

I'm sorry, but I'm still thinking about this plastic in the dining room nonsense. I still can't believe she put plastic on the chairs. I don't care how messy the meal is, how are 15 and 18 year olds getting food on the seat cushions?

When my kids were babies and toddlers, we had a dining room set that we bought before we were parents. The chair backs were wood and the cushions were covered in a cream fabric, which we had scotch guarded when we bought it. For years, we had our kids and our relatives' kids in that dining room for family dinners and holidays. I'm talking babies, one year olds, two, three, four, five. And, horrors, we even had them eating pasta with red sauce! I remember one friend whose kids were much messier than ours, but somehow the dining room chairs survived, as did we. Oh, we also had a very expensive light colored area rug under the table and chairs.

I still can't believe she put plastic down with teens. If I did that to my teens, especially on national TV, they would be so embarrassed. I know they would say, "Mom, what are we, babies? Hello, we're 15 years old."

She is so damn weird!

Former Lurker said... 118

I think it's terrible to refer to your sons as "stinky boys". She's so loathsome. I wonder if they ever get a compliment from her. It means a lot to a teen boy, or any teen for that matter, to come downstairs in the morning and have their mom say something like, "Hey, your hair looks good today", or "That shirt looks good on you". I find myself doing that quite often, not in a forced or thought out way at all, but because I genuinely love and cherish them.

These chairs are extremely popular and cheap. We have them for the dining room. They come in any color you want. A 15 year old doesn’t even need a cushion. They never sit on cushions anywhere else. Darn near everything will wipe off these chairs like Teflon.

Look at the pictures/clips of her dining room from this episode--is that not the ugliest paint color you've ever seen? Then there's the fugly furniture, the mismatched wood floors, and even she admits her window treatments are awful. She wears hooker heels and hooker clothes and flashes "the girls" every chance she gets. If she doesn't want people to point out her tacky taste, then she shouldn't put it on public display. You can make things look nice without spending a fortune. She simply lacks taste.

My boys have always eaten in the dining room. We don't use it all the time, but when we do they are encouraged to eat with the adults. When we do special dinners they use the china, crystal, and sterling just like the adults. There have been a few things broken here and there, but my boys are far more important than a plate. The plate can be replaced. The feeling they get from being included with and treated like the adults is not replaceable. I don't agree with seating the kids in the kitchen with paper plates during special meals, like they're second-class citizens. Kate does.

Beth's home (when she was on the show) was much more casual and homey than it looks now. I think the current owners have made a lot of changes, which can be expected since they have owned it since 2008. I remember the one thing Beth had that I was so envious of was her Aga cooker. I have always loved them (Martha has one!), but they're expensive. Maybe when my boys are all out of college. That won't be for years, but I can dream, can't I?

"Hey, your hair looks good today", or "That shirt looks good on you". I find myself doing that quite often, not in a forced or thought out way at all, but because I genuinely love and cherish them.

&&&

Kids need to feel supported and loved, even if in the teen years they sometimes act like they could care less what adults think. I agree that kind words, a hug, a gentle hand on their shoulder, are extremely important. They think they're all grown up, but they're not, and the kid in there still needs that nurturing to feel secure and confident. When you remove these little things, I think the results are not that surprising and can be seen in many of the children still stuck with Kate.

One of the the other graduate students in my group had a hardclear plastic cover over their table. Under that was a hand embroidered tablecloth that their wife had spent hours making. It was not weird in this situation. They wanted to protect the table cloth but still be able to use it. There were lots of other hand embroidered items in their house. I loved visiting their house when I was in school. I am not good at needle point. My cohorts wife did try to teach me though. She picked up knitting pretty quickly when it was my turn to teach her.

I can't imagine having plastic over a tablecloth that could be spot treated and bleached. That's so lazy.

My son is almost 14 and when he’s home, he’s outside shooting hoops and when he’s hanging out with his friends, they are usually playing football or basketball, riding skateboards....you get my drift. And when he comes in or gets home, he jumps into the shower and is clean and smells good. I mean, why do her boys stink? If they were athletes I’m sure she’s have let us know by now so I don’t get why they smell so bad that she is constantly mentioning it to everyone. Has she taught them to shower daily? Change their socks daily? Brush their teeth daily? Flush the toilet? Do their bedsheets get changed? I mean, teenage boys tend to stink if they’ve been outside playing but once you shower they’re fine. But if they come in and don’t shower, put stinky feet back into their shoes, lay on the bed with dirty bodies then Kate as a mom has failed to teach her boys body maintenance and that’s on her, not on them.

I'm too alienated by TFW to watch the show, but she seems to be having trouble keeping her black heart in check.

Based on the photos in the Daily Mail article, TFW looks like hell (not to worry, it's all hard-earned). She has to get glammed-up just to even look average. All that suppressed rage is leaking through. And she can't hide it, since she totally lacks acting ability.

SarcasticBella said... 128

One thing I've noticed on her Instagram and on a few articles is that her up her butt fans have 2 defenses for her. It's always 1.) You could never do this or 2.) Any family would have taken this opportunity and you're just jealous.

There have been many HOM families who have done media appearances or tv shows who didn't sell their souls to the devil and whose children went on to be healthy, happy, well adjusted adults. Off the top of my head, a few families that come to mind are the Mathias Quads, Dilley Sextuplets, Hayes Sextuplets, and McCaughey Septuplets. A TV series is not the only way to support your family.

The Busby's seem more together than Jon and Kate, but I can't help but wonder if they won't let fame get to them and destroy their family as well.

Formerly Duped said... 129

I think TFW is just used to calling the boys stinky regardless of how they smell. They all look clean and neat. The 'little' girls IMO look less put-together than Hannah! I guess she and Collin are allowed to choose what to wear and how to do their hair. Remember when Kate scoffed at Collin for choosing a shirt and tie while shopping? And I thought the girls had odd hairstyles- outdated really with the top pulled back. The twins look good but the' little kids' do not have guidance from their mother on how to present themselves. I bet Colleen takes H and C shopping etc plus her older kids help them.

Kate was very attached to her grandparents and I think she may emulate decor and such from her grandmother's house as she apparently spent a lot of time there. She has mentioned about the love they had for one another after all those years. It looks very much like something someone older person might decorate and even some of her ways.

Yep. They are right. I could never ever do to my kids what she did to hers.

FlimsyFlamsy said... 132

SarcasticBella (#130), I have a 3rd fan excuse to add: she was married to a lazy, skirt-chasing manchild, and doing the show was the only way to put food in her babies' mouths.

I know I'm being petty, but...
IDK who set the table for their 'last dinner together', but even the youngest at 14 should know how to set the table, right? I guess that's just another lesson, like driver's training for the twins, that TFW didn't get around to teaching her kids.

I saw a pic of TFW with her eyes in mid roll and it dawned on me that she's like a poorly trained dog, one that nips at or jumps on people. Trainers stress that you never reward a dog's bad behavior with affection or a treat. But, then you have TFW who has been rewarded quite lavishly for her hysterionics, shreiks, squeals, meltdowns, eye rolls and more. She's been on magazine covers, on tv, written and gossiped about, and handed millions of dollars for behaving badly. It's no wonder she has never changed. I think she has some serious mental problems and the rewards have only reinforced her delusions that she's the one who is right and perfect and everyone else, especially Jon, is wrong or a hater. Her feelings of being persecuted have only been reinforced and whatever degree of narcissism she started out with has grown exponentially.

Her kids have been the victims of every bit of her bad behavior and they've had to adapt to manage their mentally ill mother - something no child should, but many do have to do. I'm ever hopeful that once the kids get away from her, go to college, are exposed to other students, and can experience life with choices and freedoms in a healthy way that they'll realize their mother is ill and that the way they've lived for the first 18+? years doesn't have to be the way they live the rest of them. Is that hoping for too much? Were the years living with her be too much for them to break away from?

I know many of you grew up under similar circumstances, receiving less than ideal parenting and I know you're leading productive lives and have healthy relationships and I wish the same for the G 8. I see strength in the G kids and have so much hope for their futures. TFW? I don't think she's ever going to change and I predict a very lonely future for her, all of her own making. SMH

BlueJay said... 134

With such a home as that and her bemoaning the older girls going off to college. You know, it's normal for parents to downsize when your children go off to college. I wonder if Kate will do this? She has no need for such a home when the other four go off to college.

I know she said she bought the house "for the kids" but what kid goes home all that much once they go to college anyway? What is she just going to meander around the big old house and such putting up shrines to her remaining children? Creepy.

If she was going to go through all that trouble of good lord, you know safe guarding her precious dining room, she could have picked a different meal, or eaten it outside. But this had to have been for drama sake ratings nothing more.

*****************
No, any family would NOT have taken this opportunity. I have mentioned my friend Mary, who has 13 kids (and boy, does she have it all together!). She and her husband have been approached for one of those "big family" shows, and they wouldn't even think of it. Their kids are all turning out to be such well-adjusted adults--just great people, all of them. I have always looked to her for inspiration when it comes to mothering. My DIL, as you all know, has been battling infertility for years, and when she was doing IUI, someone told her (jokingly)that, if she had a large number of babies, she could get a reality show and make a lot of money. She immediately answered, "No way! My children will not be for sale!". And, as you all know, she ended up being successful with IVF and the little one is due in a few days!!!!!! We're all on pins and needles here. I almost had a panic attack the other day when I went to the grocery store and realized I had forgotten to bring my phone. The doctor pushed the due date back few days, but it's still within the next week. You know you'll be hearing about it!

You're right, formerly, C&H look far more stylish than the other tups. Colleen has a college-aged daughter and a son a little older, and they probably help C&H with their clothing choices. I think Kate dresses the kids with her in whatever she can get for free. My Aunt Win watched this episode and she said it was like an advertisement for The North Face. They all wore TNF coats and jackets, and the labels were always visible. She said it was the same for the episode where they went skiing. Kate was shown taking all-new winter gear out of the bags, and the TNF labels were prominently displayed throughout the episode. She said there's a lot of Nike gear shown, too. SO I guess we know who Kate is grifting from these days.

From Dmasy --

Somewhere near Kate is a nail technician who has spent hours upon hours with Kate. She has kept those French tips alive for a decade. She would probably have details and insight into Kate's life. (Weren't we told at one time that Kate has the special privilege of entering a salon by the back door after hours?)

I think of that person every time I see a photo with Kate's acrylics.

Formerly Duped said... 137

Layla, yes, don't forget to keep us posted on the baby!!!

I saw that TNF was much in evidence, lol, but I also thought for example, that the tup girls had dated style dresses and odd hairdos. Their casual clothes looked a bit bargain basementy which is not a big deal unless you have older sisters wearing expensive boutique clothing and a mother who fritters away your earned money on hair, nails, heels etc.

Leah is bossy and appears to think a lot of herself...but I also see that the twins would only miss times with the tups when THEY wanted to 'have a buddy' and they seem to use them as servants. Mady told Alexis to 'get it now!' when something dropped out of the car- a bag I think.

I'd like to hear from some of the people who did Kate's hair and makeup over the years. Remember her BFF Jason? Supposedly they were so close, and they'd go out for dinner after he did her hair (for free, of course). And then he disappeared. I'd be willing to bet the free services stopped and she cut him off just like she cuts off everyone else who "doesn't know how to help her". Same for makeup people--what happened to Deanna? Who was doing her makeup before Deanna? And I'm curious about where Jamie is these days, since Brownie claims Kate is her best friend. We know how Brownie tried for years to draw Kate in with cereal that was past its expiration date and meet-ups for coffee. She must have increased her spending on Kate to get her to pay attention, since Kate's attention/friendship is for sale. You have to pay up or you don't exist.

Thanks to all of you for sharing my excitement about the baby! It's been such a long journey and there were so many tears and dashed hopes before we finally got the good news. We're still pinching ourselves.

In fact, Kate's ENTIRE DIARY was published - not simply one letter written to her father {and, that dude cannot be trusted so Megan should have expected him to sell it to the media}.

&&&&

So you believe child abuse should be kept hidden away and secret, and that abusers should be protected, and that there is no purpose in exploiting their abuse. Got it.

Publishing Meghan's letter has absolutely no discernible purpose other than to hurt and humiliate. There was no revelation that she was a child abuser, or had stolen money, or had committed crimes, or anything else of public interest other than a hurtful family matter. She will win this lawsuit and win big for that reason, because there was no legitimate value in publishing her private correspondence. And you are victim blaming by suggesting that Meghan should not write a letter to her beloved father because she should have known he would give it to the media. Excuse me, this is not Meghan's fault. It's really sick you went there.

With regard to Meghan and the publishing of the private letter to her father, since the letter was addressed to her father and he apparently was the one who gave it to the media, why shouldn’t they publish it. I don’t agree with it and obviously they’re out to tear Meghan down but isn’t it considered his property to do with what he wants. I’m just curious to the legalities of it.

In Britain they follow the European Convention on Human Rights in which article 8 says that "everyone has the right to respect for his private and family life". The royal family has won a lot of lawsuits in recent years including a slam dunk against the press for publishing photos of Kate Middleton sunbathing on vacation.

Her case would actually be weaker in the U.S. because she has to prove malice.

Why shouldn't they publish it? Because the law says they shouldn't, because it's just matters of family life that have nothing to do with anything in public life.

Her family has been caring for her in her home since she was a baby. The family lives on the fathers police salary. Their father does Mose of the work on the house.

One of Octomoms older children is nonverbal autistic. She cates for that child in her home and works outside the home. Her family large family lives in a town house. They don't live a silver spoon life but the younger kids seem happy, The older children do not want to be on film and their mother respects their wishes.

Kate is the only one who can not raise her family without a TV show, The Busbee family are a wild card. Adam currently is an independent contractor with his own media family. His media's company is getting jobs from his family's publicity.

Will TFW ever get it? It's not 2007 anymore. The world has moved on. TV has moved on. There are new genetically-engineered multiples to grab the public's attention. But Norma Desmond keeps the remaining tups -- 4 at last count -- locked up at Ms. Gosselin's Home For Exploited Children as long as she can, waiting for her next close-up. She has no Plan B.

I can't remember all the details, but she either refi'd or took out a new mortgage in early 2010, after the divorce was final. Unless TLC steps in to prop her up on this (which they might, given that residence's role as "set"), this would seem to be the moment to make a decision on staying or downsizing.

**********
I was thinking of when the show was cancelled back in 2011. They had a hard time maintaining a million viewers back then. They came back for a 2-part special in 2014, after 2 years, 9 months, and averaged over 2 million for those episodes. Maybe TLC was trying for the same thing. This time the younger kids have been off the air for 2 years, 3 months. In this case, however, absence did not equal ratings. The kids just aren't all that interesting anymore. They're just like anyone else's kids. That's not going to change as they get older, either. Their glory days are over.

*******
I went back to look, and she refinanced in December of 2011 from a 10-year loan to a 30-year adjustable-rate loan. No balloon payment that I saw mentioned, but after 5 years the loan adjusts every year. She's find as long as interest rates don't go up. Oops, sorry, I meant the kids are fine because they're the ones who pay the mortgage.

When she refinanced the house it was originally in the names of CWM Revocable Trust (the kids' trust) and a lawyer's name (probably the lawyer for the kids' trust). She removed the lawyer's name and put hers instead, meaning that it's listed jointly to her and the CWM trust. Sly move on her part to claim it as an asset for herself while still making the kids' trust pay the mortgage, I'm sure.

As far as her behavior, it was all so rehearsed. I didn’t believe any of that fake emotion. The only things that are sad for her is, 2 of her slaves are leaving the prison, and 2 of her only friends are leaving. When the other 4 go off to college or Jon’s, she’s got no one. As soon as the kids turn 18 she will dump the house and move to the beach with Jamie and Steve. It is all about her and she knows she can't afford it and is too lazy to take care of it. The kids probably won't care, because that house was the beginning of the end for life as they knew it. What will their memories be? Their mother making their father let them out at the end of the driveway to humiliate him? The playroom their mother turned into a dance studio for herself? The locations in the house they were never allowed to sit? The holidays they spent with no extended family because their mother decided she didn't want them around? The trauma of watching their siblings be abused and sent away and wondering if they were next? There is nothing positive there for them to ever want to return to, especially the mother who exploited them to buy the damn thing.

Hhmmmm here’s something to chew on? I don’t believe it would ever happened tho.( Kate is petrified Jon getting a show)

Again sorry ADMIN for anonymous

Anon who is OBSESSED with Admin, pot meet kettle as far as a need for therapy. A clear need. Very clear.

It's been obvious to us that Admin has been yanking your chain about those chairs, but not only did it fly (repeatedly) right over your head, her comments apparently got you extremely agitated about "the fucking chairs".

Finding some other blog with a subject matter, and Admin, that you actually enjoy would do wonders for your mental health. Your blood pressure, too.

Oh, and by the way, don't stress yourself over an invasion of privacy. Deeds and Mortgages are public record. Everyone knows that. In fact, that's the reason why most celebs and well known wealthy people purchase homes either in the name of a trust or an LLC.

Just, relax. Find something else to entertain yourself and occupy your time. You'll be much happier and less stressed. ✌🏻

Speaking of which, what table should everyone own to go with the chairs?

That’s the beauty of the universal best chairs. They go with near every darn table.

I hope your funny pun is an indication you’re a good sport about my teasing.

I’ll believe it when I see it about Jon and a reality tv show. I think Kate’s biggest fear is the kid’s talking. They’re the ones that are living it and can seriously blow her out of the water. It’s one thing to slam your ex, but your kids. If the kids decide to talk, is she going to call them liars. Don’t think that will go over well if she does.

If you go into the archives, we talk about it at the very end of 2011/beginning of 2012. It was published in the local paper, and someone who lived nearby spotted it.

Admin, I also have my "universal" chairs. I bought a bunch of Kartell Louis Ghost Chairs a few years ago, and they are the most versatile things ever! I have 12 formal DR chairs, but my table can be extended to seat more than 12. I can bring in a few ghost chairs for extra seating and they add kind of a funky vibe. I can also add them at the kitchen table when needed, and they're fine with my more casual chairs. They're lightweight yet sturdy, easily wiped clean, and stackable. Perfect!

The plastic tablecloth reminds me of TFW's meltdown more than a decade ago when the kids were messily, but happily, carving pumpkins with their dad. Imagine living with such a buzzkill day in and day out. You can see how it might break a child's spirit.

TFW relished slamming Jon as childish. But I think the word she meant was childlike, which is a wonderful quality. Remember when she yelled at him "like a dog" at Toys R Us? She barked at him, "Stop playing with toys!" when he was only trying to keep one of the tups distracted and happy while the kid's mother was shopping on the other side of the store.

So many examples! I also remember her freaking out about 'one granule of sugar" on the plastic-covered counter when the kids were baking cookies for dialysis patients at Kate's old place of employment...then she couldn't even set up the tubing correctly!

But yes, she was always spoiling fun...no markers at Crayola, no grass at ice cream for dinner, no messy playing for the boys out with Jon..'not these kids.'

I find it sad that Kate just never seems able to let her hair down so to say to just let her children have at it to just enjoy. You won't get those moments back after they're grown. If you're more occupied with the mess than the child it shows.

Winters where I live are about the same in PA, heavy and the kids always dragged in snow and mud, pretty much whatever they brought with them. We carved pumpkins, all the things Kate had set up on television except we never had a crew to film it that was either my husband or myself with you know those old home movies that nobody has interest in watching except us. Christmas wrapping paper galore around the tree, the Thanksgiving turkey incident...just normal family things that went on over the years.

Sad she's wanted her meltdowns of what her kids couldn't enjoy filmed for over a decade. I wouldn't think that would be worth watching to look back on as a parent or a child. Not to be or my children. Not to mention the nation.

My son C, he's the middle child and his birthday falls two days before Christmas. They all got up to mischief oh you bet. I was type parent to just let them have it once in a while. And one year around Christmas you know when your son comes into the kitchen to ask you, "how long are you not going to come into the living room?" You know something is up. And I asked him, "So how long to you need to hide the body or get out of town then son, do you need money?" I said it with a straight face as I continued prepare the dish at the time. When he left I laughed hysterically thinking oh lord what NOW. Should I go in there? Probably. Do I want to? Oh goodness no.

My mother's antique lace tablecloth that we set out every year on the old oak farm table we had back then my son had taken his old 80's you know those paint boxes children use to have and he'd put his hand prints all over that tablecloth in red and green.

Was it a mess? You bet. Was I angry? A little. But his face was SO beaming with look mommy I decorated it for Christmas so when people come over it's festive do you like it? I remember as steamed as I was due to the expensive I decided to stuff my anger aside because you know what kids DO stuff like that whether you want them to or not BECAUSE it's there. Sure honey (what did you do to my tablecloth...) sure I like it (no I don't) it's great (oh my gosh why, why...).

My son is alive and well today folks. Kate's children you know it's sad marks, pumpkin mess, crumbs none material messes last forever.

Aww, I lovethat story! I bet when you see that tablecloth today you're flooded with memories of you son and his pride in "decorating" for his mom. I bet you use it proudly now and explain to anyone who doesn't know the story behind it. It's an evolving piece of family history now.

Thanks Layla, I found it. Geez that’s a huge mortgage! We just downsized a few years ago, best decision ever! There are some things I miss Having but we make due with what we have. There’s still space for the grandkids to stay over, and room for our 3 dogs and 3 cats. And our bills are SO much less! We never thought we were too good to buy a smaller place. And when we had a larger home, we used all the rooms! The house wasn’t a freaking museum Kate! It was a home! Kate thinks she’s too good for downsizing, so I have a feeling when the kids are gone and there’s no money left after college, she won’t leave till the sheriff locks her out. I’ll sit in the field across the street that day with a bag of popcorn!

BlueJay, what an awesome memory! I love that! Funny how we get annoyed at the time but as we get older it’s a funny memory.

Oh and the chair obsessed person, I hope your feeling better. I have to add this, my oldest bought those same chairs for her kitchen island. At 1st I didn’t care for them but now I love them! They have 3 small messy kids, those chairs are awesome! And they are very comfy. Don’t judge it till you try it.

BlueJay said... 192

Thank You ladies yes. That tablecloth still is around, I take it out even now. It's lived through oh gosh. The hand prints, red wine stains, gravy boat spills, crayon marks, food spills from holidays just about everything you can imagine over the holidays. Birthday meals, graduations, funerals, wedding anniversaries.

We use our dinning room. It's there. All my children have eaten in there over the years. The china got nicked, the silver got busted--not me I didn't do, she broke it, I didn't see anything, sorry I spilled whatever. You laugh, people drop things, the dog gets lucky with who dropped whatever on occasion perhaps. My husband has to know the score for the football game even if I tell him to turn it off. My grandchildren fight over who gets what piece of pie or cake, my daughters bicker over who gets what exact seat at the table.

Is my house as big? No we still live in 3 bedrooms house, 2 and a half baths, decent size yards in the middle of the block, four seasons state that neighbors Wisconsin. None of my children had a filmed childhood, the girls shared a bedroom, the kids all shared a bathroom. My kids got into trouble. We're anonymous family. My kids got by with handed down clothes for a while. We had used cars.

This wouldn't have been so bad on Kate's kids. Comfortable. Not terrible. If you don't use what you have all those memories she's so fit to be tied to try to make? What will they have really meant? Not a hill of beans probably. Big house you don't really live in won't mean anything judging by house fast her children want out of it. No warmth, no usage, what's the point?

I can't find the house manual from when Kate was on celebrity wife swap. Can anyone refresh my memory about what rooms the kids weren't allowed in? Thank you.

I haven’t followed the Gosselin saga in years, but was drawn back in by the lifting of the gag order. I actually do read the Daily Mail and I realize it’s utter garbage, but I have a weird obsession with Z-list British celebrities and their PR firms are pretty tight with the DM.

Somewhere upthread Octomom was mentioned...she occasionally shows up on the DM and I never thought I’d say this when she “broke”, but I have huge respect for Nadya Suleman. She seems to be doing a great job raising her kids (and actually doing it alone) and for all of TFWs talk of sacrifice and work, Nadya actually did things to earn money (porn and stripping) that is far more “real reality” than being coddled by a network from day one. She exploited her infamy, but she didn’t exploit her actual children, which I think makes a difference. I know Octomom had octuplets but I’ll be damned if I can remember any of their names.

Interesting bit on Kate at Radar Online.

Sad but true said... 196

I agree with you on finding respect for Nadya. I am pretty sure she engineered the octuplets (I can't recall if she [or her doctor] ever actually admitted it, it was IVF, right?), but once they were here---and after she'd had a few really tough years trying to figure out life (and after it was clear NO ONE was going to pick her up for a TV show)---she seems to have worked out a balance that is not harmful to herself OR the 14 kids she has.

Would I want to see a "reality" show about her or her family? Of course not. But seeing the occasional mentions of her that come up in the tabs, I am pleased that she and her many children seem happy. The psychosis that drove her to this seems to have abated, though I don't know that this sort of disorder ever goes away. Fortunately, I don't think she's a candidate for any more kids.

As far as comparisons go, I think Nadya has a true mental illness (as does Kate), but it's not at all the same. Had Kate struggled with the sort of issues Nadya had, she would likely have been relieved of some of her kids a long time ago. Whether or not that would have been a happy thing for the kids is an open question. We see how it turned out for Collin.

Sandi, could you post a clickable link to the article? I looked at Radar Online but didn't see anything but I'm not a "friend" so that could be why.

Anonymous said... 198

Nadya has had mental illness problems including anxiety. In 2012 she checked into rehab for addiction to Xanax. I think after that, she decided to focus on her and her family's health. She still makes time for her own mental health. Daily trips to the gym and regular appointments with a mental health professional.

Other have mentioned that she did stripping and porn. She talked about that in an interview. She regretted doing both. They were her rock bottom moment. She went into treatment soon after that.

I am happy that she is finding a way to make things work. I think truly loves her children. She talks about how wonderful they are as individuals. She talks about the kind things they do.

The doctor had his medical license revoked in 2011. It has not been restored.

The manual is on this site somewhere I think but as I recall, all it said was Kendra was not to go to the twins' room as it made them grumpy, and we know the kids were not to go to Kate's room 'on penalty of severeness'. Obviously they could not use their treehouse which was locked. Not sure about other rooms but I think there were rules not stated. I know they did packing in that room with a round table on the first floor. In the E-town house, there was a new rule that boys could not enter girls' rooms and vice versa. Cameras were forbidden from bedrooms for a while but they did film in Room Swap and other later episodes.

Then there was talk of TFW locking the kids into their rooms at night so they could not even access the bathroom.

They could go into that dining room but just did not eat in there. There are photos of them by the fireplace for Xmas etc.

I know this doesn't fully answer your question but TFW probably did not want to give away secrets on CWS about her jailhouse rules.

FlimsyFlamsy said... 200

Formerly Duped (#1), what a pathetic lapse in judgment that show was. TFW left her children not only with a total stranger (Kendra), but an entire crew of strangers (CWS was an ABC show, not TLC). Eight minor children being filmed by strangers like lab rats in their own freaking home, with only Mommie Dearest's makeup person to advocate for them. It was one thing to have Sara Snow or Emeril stop buy for a few hours to film an episode. But this went on for a week. And Jon was around for those older shows, so I feel the kids got a sense of security from his presence. But what could Deanna provide for them -- concealer?
