Jon reveals he's doing IT work in a hospital during COVID-19, and calls on Kate to use her nursing license on the front lines

Jon has given an interview during the pandemic about what he is up to, and it turns out he's an essential worker, doing IT for a hospital.

As for Kate? Well, Jon is wondering as much as us why she doesn't using her nursing license, which is still current, to help. "There's people dying in need," Jon told The Sun.

As for their ongoing custody battle, he says the judge has now left it up to the children where they want to live, given their ages. Their next court date (like court dates for most of the country with pending court cases) has been set very far out.

The majority of covid numbers don’t matter to anything and aren’t worth the time it takes to follow it. The dishonest media doesn’t report That the “surge” in cases are largely the young and asymptomatic. This matters so very little. What matters is is it leading to more deaths. Newsflash, it’s not.
__________________________________________________________

Not yet, but it definitely could. The surge in cases in the last week will reflect possible deaths in the weeks to come. So I don't think you can state it doesn't lead to more deaths because we don't know that yet. Hopefully most cases are mild and death rates decrease, but we can't make that determination yet.

People just need to be aware of their surroundings and take the necessary precautions for themselves and their families. But to ignore the threat is utterly foolish at this point.

$$$

Given the majority of people now getting this are 20-40, is is extremely unlikely anything but a tiny percentage of them would be hospitalized let alone die. This age group is far more likely to die in car accidents or the regular flu, but no one talks about those risks and no one says that’s ignoring the threat.

Most people are socially distancing and wearing masks. That’s hardly ignoring the threat. But to fear monger in order to get clicks and ratings is exactly what is happening right now and it’s not only shameful but terribly unfair to the public who deserve a fair and accurate picture of what the risk is.

Dr. Fauci disagrees with you, but what does he know? Poor guy is just another consumer of fear porn without the intellectual depth of the almighty Administrator.

$$$

Dr Fauci said it himself. His role is not to worry about the economy or anything else. Just cases. He said it himself I can only give you the information and you decide what risks you want to take.

People die in car accidents. Would you like to stop all driving? Don’t skirt this question. Answer it.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Admin (4) - That is an absurd question! People are willing to drive but they TAKE PRECAUTIONS like seatbelts, windshield wipers, improved auto body frames, brakes etc. What is being asked of people is to take precautions against getting and/or spreading Covid, like facemasks, social distancing and hand washing. Please compare apples to apples.

$$

But that’s what most people are doing. Most people are being safe. It’s been ages since I’ve spotted anyone who is around people and don’t wear a mask and didn’t socially distance. We get it now.

The fact that a few people don’t listen there’s not much we can do about. People drive recklessly and don’t wear seatbelts.

I’m not exactly sure what people want to have happen. Would they like another lockdown? Because it’s not going to happen. The politicians blew it the first time by locking down far longer than they promised. Now they’ve lost people’s trust.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

You might want to take a quick look at video from last night's Trump rally. I think you'd be able to spot a few thousand people who don't get it.

$$$

You might want to take a look at the protests. Those people don’t get it either. Some people don’t wear masks, most do. And some people have medical conditions or skin conditions that make mask wearing tough, so hold your judgement at the door.

Bottom line the evidence about masks is weak at best. The best predictor of covid is population. If you live in denser areas it spreads, mask or no mask. If you live in less populated areas it doesn’t spread, masks or no masks.

Anonymous, please indulge me. What would you like us to do? You being such the expert on pandemics.

There’s a big difference between the two.” Gee, that sounds a whole lot like you. Oh and he also said that masks are essential, so once again he disagrees with the almighty Administrator.

&&&

Since I socially distance, work from home (I actually have the option to come into work but have elected home), sanitize frequently and wash my hands, and wear a mask in all areas it is required, I have no idea what you're talking about. This is hardly an "all or nothing" attitude. This is someone who is being cautious but reasonable. Not hiding under her bed, but not running out kissing strangers on the lips either.

I have said all along, re-open, but with precautions.

He's talking about 19 and 20-year-olds. And for them, I think we can all have a little understanding that they are young, have had an incredible special time in their lives DESTROYED, have no idea what the future holds for them in the fall, are feeling anxious and pent up, and like most youths their age, feel invincible. It's called understanding child-youth development, you might want to read up on the age group some time to gain some empathy of why they are behaving as they are.

I've said over and over I'm in my 30s and my life is stable and established, with a few exceptions (like not being able to see my father who is in a nursing home), this hasn't been so bad for me at all. But if I was in college or high school, I imagine I would find this much more emotionally difficult. I have empathy and understanding for that age group, unlike you, who thinks very black and white.

At the end of the day though it really doesn't matter if a 19 year old gets it, and the good doctor knows that. Most of these young people showing a rise in cases are asymptomatic, the rest will recover. Again, while there have been rises in CASES, there have been no similar rise in DEATHS, a fact the media continues to ignore.

Fear porn. You fell for it.

I live in TX, just outside Houston/Harris County. We are having incredible hikes in cases AND hospitalizations. In fact, the hospitals are reaching crisis level with available beds, not just COVID beds but all beds. Texas Childrens Hospital in the Medical Center is going to open beds for the first time ever to adult patients to help with the overload. Almost all the cities around here are requiring masks if you go in any business without one and are going to fine the business $1000 for each infraction. They are required to be sure no one comes in without a mask and if someone doesn't have one they have to provide them with one. I believe Abbott is very close to having to do something to stem the spread. I don't know what that will be but he said earlier this week that he would not be closing the state again 'unless absolutely necessary' -- which I guess means maybe he will consider it. But with hospitals all around this area reaching capacity its is getting very scary down here. We have been staying at home except for groceries or getting food for months and now we will continue. While we are all getting cabin fever in a very real way, it's better than the alternative of catching this virus.

From Dmasy --

Kylie (11) -- Hubby and I moved into Conroe, Texas 3 weeks ago. (From New Braunfels, Tx.)

We crossed county line into Harris county on a house errand/shopping trip this morning. We saw the first sign on a commercial door telling us about the $1,000 fine. We had our masks on. (PS: We are adjusting to the area and will learn to love it as your new home. I guess I have moved somewhere nearer to you!)

I spoke with a friend from New Braunfels this morning. They are closing venues that opened a few weeks ago. When the tubing tourists arrived in town, they brought cases of the virus with them. The town went from very few cases to an explosion of hospitalizations.

We all have to be very considerate and very careful.

Kylie said...

Hi Dmasy! Yes, you are in our part of the country now - lol. We are about 2 hours apart if you take into consideration traffic and construction. I'm happy to say I am one of the few people who has met you face to face. I wish I had some kind of answers of how to stop this explosion of cases AND hospitalizations down here. I wear a mask everywhere I go because I do care about others and I believe that this along with distancing is the only thing we can do at this point. Abbott said today that he was stopping the next phase of reopening because things are so bad. Most of us believe he will not shut down the state again but that he will cut back to the previous level of openings. We were at 75% openings and that would mean back to 50%. Based on just how bad it is down here I wouldn't be shocked if he had to go back to 25%. People argue over the cases vs. hospitalizations and in the past the hospitalizations were low. Now they are getting much higher. Each day we get a notification from the county on what the numbers are and they are getting stricter on what each classification means. Where we live just outside Houston has gone from below 1% requiring hospitalization has now gone to 10.4%. Those are real numbers. I just read where M.D. Anderson Cancer Center is now going to open beds to help with the overcrowding in hospitals. A lot of people think this is caused by COVID. I don't believe that is the case as much as that the hospitals are reaching capacity with regular admissions plus COVID and it is putting a tremendous strain on spaces. If I can spare one person dying by staying home and remaining safe rather than possibly spreading this more then it is worth the inconvenience to me because that one person is worthy of being saved and is likely loved very much by their family. By the same token, I understand people need to earn a living and support their families. My grandkids have a home and one is in college and they need to work. My sympathies go to both sides of this issue but the critical nature of this virus is very scary.

Glad you have moved here, I know Conroe very well and have several family members living there. Take care, stay safe and I send my best wishes in your new home!

I took one of Kate's recipes from that book my daughter gave me for my birthday to a small church gathering for a lady's brunch on Wednesday. You were supposed to bring a hot dish (that's upper Midwest for casserole) and a dessert. I brought two small hot dishes, one was Kate's you know that Sausage and Bean bake? My goodness it had 3 kinds of beans, Italian sausage and a can of chili in it. Who cares if it was Organic I sure didn't! And cheese. Then I took a regular hot dish that I make.

I took them in early so nobody would know it was ME. And all throughout this gathering I kept hearing, "Good lord, who brought THAT dish? I tried it..have you? I had a taste...god it was AWFUL! Stay away from it...I didn't bring it...did you? No...wasn't me...Is it really that bad? I up and think it was a mistake...no honey that's not a mistake it's a SIN! I'd like to preserve what's left of my golden years if'n nobody minds...What you'll need to spare us dear since you ate it is your lady like behavior afterwards...I know beans are magical fruit, BUT..." (nobody finished that sentence from laughter, take the hint where she was going with that)

Verdict in at the end when I retrieved it later, nobody hardly touched it. Organic or not. I do have to wonder what on earth Kate was thinking in a dish like that that though. Inside would be swimming!

Admin. and Kylie - I have a long-time friend in her early 60's who lives north of Harris County. We had quite a chat yesterday about masks with each county deciding yes/no. I guess TX counties have mask options. She is definitely a "no mask" gal. She ranted for a good 10 minutes about her rights and how she manages her outings. I was truly ready to hang up on her but she did calm down. She has a routine when shopping and doesn't plan to change. It's her choice, of course. Masks do bother me (small face, short nose and glasses) but I wear them anyway.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Kylie one thing to keep in mind about hospitalizations is that 1. More people are going to the hospital when they feel ill because they feel hospitals are safer as time has gone on and not crowded anymore and 2. Everyone who enters the hospital for something else is tested and though they may have entered for a stroke they could also be asymptomatic covid. That counts.

The numbers are not black and white and a lot of factors can skew them in a way that is misleading. In defense of those who do get scared by this, it is very difficult for a layperson to discern what these numbers mean as most media and politicians has not seen fit to give us all the information we need to figure that out. It takes me a whole lot of graph reading and deep diving when stories like these come up to get to the truth and most days i don’t have time. If you live in LA I highly recommend KFI for the best most accurate and fair and informative reporting on all of this. I’m not familiar with what’s a good news source in other places.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Another thing Kylie is if you are in a position to stay home and can do so in a way that is financially and mentally okay for you, great, do so. My mom is because she’s high risk and she’s feeling good mentally and physically.

This will help free up some space for those who are not in a good position to stay home financially, emotionally, etc. There is a happy compromise here if people like anonymous would stop making this all about hating on Trump and try to work with your neighbors.

You are so callous.

&&&

Oh stop it.

Do you wander around lamenting all the people who die every day in car accidents?

Gimme a break, you don't. You are callous!

We have experienced a global tragedy. Nursing homes have been especially hard hit as politicians like Gavin Newsom sent them back there to die and infect others for the cost of $1000 a head. Now that is CALLOUS. But we also don't need a second tragedy in the dire consequences of continuing to lock people up. This is a bad situation all around. There aren't any perfect options. Life sometimes gives you a bad hand, as it is now. Opening up carries risks and WILL come with more deaths, almost everyone understands that. What would you have us do? It is JULY, anonymous. JULY.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Wow. Just fucking wow. My friend's 16 year old HEALTHY son died of it last month. Nobody is hiding under their beds, they just don't want this thing to spread. Other countries have managed to contain the numbers but not us. What are WE doing wrong?

&&&

I'm sorry for your friend's loss. But no child in Californian under 18 has died from COVID. No child under 18 died in China. And the death rate overall for kids is almost zero percent. About ten kids died in NYC, most with very serious medical conditions. The total deaths in NYC? Almost 18,000. So, that is a %0.06 death rate for kids. In other words almost zero. As of May 1, we only had 20 deaths NATIONWIDE of under 18, with most states having NO deaths of kids, five states having 1, and a handful with two, and then NYC.

There will be a few outliers. A child with cancer or asthma will struggle, but they also would struggle with the flu. This is terrible. But it does not justify locking all kids up.

Even UNICEF, which is here directly for kids, called the impact of COVID deaths on kids "very limited" and points to worries about economic loss and stress to kids as much more of their concern.

Unfortunately, it doesn't work to shut down the world because one out of 10 million children will die from this. We have to focus on the most vulnerable populations, and let the least vulnerable continue on with life. Life does not GUARANTEE no deaths, if we were in the business of guaranteeing no deaths in life, no one would ever leave their homes at all. In fact you'd sit in a square 10x10 space, like a prison cell. Surely that's not what you're suggesting.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Also can you provide me the link to your friend's child's story about his or her death? A 16 year old healthy child death would make the news. A 16 year old unwell child death would also make the news, given that the vast majority of states have seen NO deaths of children.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Exactly. What we are doing wrong is opening too quickly and behaving like spoiled little children by refusing to wear masks.

$$$

Most people wear masks so you can stop with that (and there are many instances where it’s neither required or necessary like recreating from a distance of others, so stop)

It’s your opinion that we are opening too quickly. Who is opening too quickly? Everyone? Wyoming only gets a few cases a week now. Why can’t they open? It’s not one size fits all. And as I just said, it’s JULY. Even Gavin Newsom said I’m sorry but we simply cannot keep our economy shut down forever, I have to start taking steps to reopen. He was praised by Dr Fauci.

I’m sorry that it’s scary out there. It is for you, clearly. I wish I could make it better. Maybe a therapist could. But we have to reopen now, and have, it’s July, and our death rate is now lower than ever. The only thing i can suggest is that if you are scared, stay home.

Admin, I did not post to get into an argument with anyone, including you. I'll just finish up by saying I get my information from very reputable sources, from this area where I live. From Doctors and from statistics with plenty of breakdowns as to what is what. I don't for one minute believe that someone thinks they are sick enough from something, not necessarily COVID, and that the Dr's are going to admit them because that is what they want. It is very real down here that there is a dramatic shortage of beds in the hospitals and the fear goes up every day that in a week or so if it continues as it is going they will be sending patients to cities willing to take them. One of these places is an hour and a half away. The city that I am in is very small compared to Houston but we have been having between 125-226 new cases every day for the past 2 weeks. Every day it climbs. One of the graphs I see daily is from individual hospitals. By living here in the midst of it, we don't have to rely on TV or cable news or politicians spouting their garbage based on trying to gain voters for the election. We get it right from the sources that deal with it up close and personal. So yeah, I'm scared and not ashamed to admit it. I prefer to not get this virus. I don't have my head buried in the sand -- I'm not that kind of person at all.

Yes I am a layperson, but I don't take my information from any politician or especially the media. Only from the graphs presented to us daily by

Kylie said...

I'm not at all sure why you seem to fight about how everything is all better now. I will agree in a lot of areas it is not a problem. I believe you mentioned Wyoming only having 2 cases, well for sure they don't need to be shut down as long as they follow the safe practices. Just this morning Gov Abbott, reduced the capacity of restaurants to 50% from 75% and he is closing the bars. Also, no river rafting at all. This is not surprising to me as the areas of TX that are famous for rafting and floating rivers just this past weekend were so crowded that you couldn't see the water at times. And of course, they are mostly younger people. So, for TX this is very real. When you mentioned LA had 1000 cases a day, you are comparing apples to oranges. I said that the very small city outside Houston where I live had high numbers every day so of course the numbers wouldn't compare to LA. But for us, it's huge. Also, news from just this morning is that the Texas Medical Center has reached 100% capacity and are now practicing surge measures.

Apparently, “Karen” is now a slang term for an entitled Caucasian middle age who uses her privilege to get her way or police other people's behaviors. As featured in memes, Karen is generally stereotyped as having a blonde bob haircut, asking to speak to retail and restaurant managers to voice complaints.
And what was really funny while scrolling Facebook , I’ve seen several meme’s about “”Karen’s” with the picture of Kate Gosselin with her possum hair do.
Kate must be so proud of her legacy.

I live in a state that has been one of the most restrictive during the pandemic, The shutdown was and is devastating to my community...businesses permanently closing and high unemployment. We were not allowed to enter a store without a mask, chastised if walking too closely to one another, denied holding drive-in church, and on and on. It was also revealed that anyone who died was tested for Covid and if positive were added to the list of Covid deaths whether the person died in a car wreck, had cancer, drowned, jumped off a cliff, etc.

Then the protests came and hardly a word about Covid. Our governor who held daily Covid crisis updates and who threatened to pull licenses of businesses who dared open before entering the next phase, joined the protest with thousands of people who were definitely not safe distancing or wearing masks. No chastisement from the media...hardly a mention.
Protests along with looting and destroying property continue to this day, and yet we continue to be warned only 10 people can attend a funeral, kids can't play sports, cannot hold a community firework display, etc.

Since the protests I've noticed people not wearing masks because why is it pushed on some and not all. How can we take the governor seriously when he doesn't follow his own rules (and who sent his family to live in a less restrictive state during Covid because one of several mansions he owns is located there). There is a definite double standard. Covid is real but so is the common flu. Vulnerable populations and people with underlying health conditions are and will always be susceptible to health risks.

I think alot of the Covid story is political and aimed at getting one person out of office. Nothing else has worked so maybe angst at how Covid was handled will. It will be interesting to see what happens if the other party's candidate wins. Politics is a dirty, dirty business.

I knew without a shadow of a doubt it was political when in the same week there were all these stories about how stupid people were to go to a Trump rally (which never resulted in a single hospitalization or death, and largely involved asymptomatic young people), but nobody said a peep about all the stupid people at the protests. They even did a STUDY to try to prove that the protests were not resulting in cases. Oh yeah, this little bug knows the difference between a Trump rally and a CHOP protest. They can't be serious. Oh, and I loved this headline from The Verge "There could be coronavirus transmission at protests, but health experts say that fighting police violence is also important for public health." Like do they even try to hide their blatant pro-far leftie agenda or? Do you know how many people deserved to have a story that says "There could be coronavirus in the community, but people have to work to feed their children and so they don't fall into a depression and commit suicide." It never happened.

It will backfire. You don't get to deprive people of their livelihoods for your agenda forever before they vote you out.

Again, all this "surge" in cases STILL isn't resulting in a surge in deaths, and in most places, the impact on hospitals is barely marginal. In California, despite all these new cases, the uptick in any hospitalization has been a couple percent, statistically insignificant. The majority of people hospitalized right now are hospitalized for other reasons, we have about 70 percent of beds wide open, which is a very comfortable number, and we have a couple standby hospitals in old buildings we set up a couple months back and never used that we can easily set up again if things worsen. Like the governor said, there simply is no reason for another shutdown right now (he knows now he'll never get away with this a second time). The reason there is a surge in cases but in most places no corresponding surge in deaths or hospitalizations is because young people are getting it. Despite the few outliers who almost always had underlining health conditions, this is what we WANT to have happen if anyone has to get it. This is the Sweden model, it worked for them, and at this point although it's not IDEAL, it's the best play we have to best preserve both our economic health and our physical health. Those who are older and the vulnerable of any age are welcome to continue to stay home.

There is one legitimate surge in California in Imperial County. Of course buried in the media story is that the surge came directly from several thousand illegal immigrants crossing the boarder illegally to get medical care. No one is begrudging helping them and we are, but don't make it seem like this suddenly organically happened in Imperial County because a couple people didn't wear a mask. Stop lying.

They said from day one they were worried about hospitals, so why exactly do we care about any surge at all as long as no one is sick enough to be hospitalized? The governor of CA is keeping his word finally, and is not going to shut us down again without a corresponding problem with hospitals. That is correct.

He should be next door to his spouse whom he loves. And thanks, we did move "heaven and earth" to create the best situation possible out of a terrible situation. His caregivers are like family to us and we've become so close with the other families of the residents who are going through the same hell with no other options. We're not hurting for money to do "whatever it takes," money is not the issue, and I have no idea why you assume this is because I won't pay for his care. This is a private top of the line Memory Care unit that is paid for (by whom is none of your damn business, but let's just say Trump increasing the benefit to Vets as soon as he took office means less out of pocket costs for the family), and out of home care is not more expensive nor is it something I won't pay for--it's just unsafe for our situation.

I'm sorry why you think ANY of this is your business, were you sitting there when all of this was decided? Do you write the checks? Good Lord, you're a Karen.

We had to put my father in law in an assisted living facility also. When he lived with us he started showing signs of dementia. He went from a lovely caring man into a monster. He would talk to no one in the kitchen, cursing and yelling. The straw that broke the camels back was he threatened to kill me, and took a fireplace poker and said he was going to snap my dogs spine with it.
That was a very easy decision for us, he had to go.

&&&

Thank you Clack. I know our walk has been the walk of so many families before us and your pain is my pain. Dad also is a loving, calm, gentle man who never once laid a hand on me, let alone a pinky finger. He is his man who helped raise a disabled sibling, and was best friends with the autistic kid across the street. He was the kid putting aside the lady bug on the walk so nobody would crush it.

Then the disease. How it takes over someone so gentle is inconceivable.

And then he got so violent with a neighbor he LOVED that this neighbor pulled out a gun on him for his own protection and called the police.

While it's agony to have to make this decision, when you said it was "easy" I really relate to that. Frankly, it was easy.

I also draw the line at anonymous accusing me of ending up here because I won't pay for her care. That's simply a lie. This has literally nothing to do with money. This memory care unit is more expensive than most in home care but he needs the intensive, wrap-around services of his team.

Meanwhile, other officials and experts in Sweden continue to support it. One expert does not speak for all of Sweden:

Anders Tegnell, Sweden’s state epidemiologist, said he advised against such restrictions on movement because of the detrimental side effects they often entail. He says restricting movement to the radical extent seen across much of the globe can create other problems, including increased domestic abuse, loneliness and mass unemployment.

“We have an increased number of cases since we started testing a lot more in Sweden last week,” he told Swedish public radio on Friday. “But we can look at all other parameters we measure, that is how many serious cases we have; they’re decreasing.”

Wow, the troll is on a rampage lately! I get it--they are enraged that their queen Kate has been kicked to the curb yet again, and there's no fan blogs left to vent their rage. Are we to blame for her latest downfall? Not in the least. Kate herself said that her "haters" have no effect on her life. Even she admits that she can't blame her looonnngg string of failures on naysayers. So what is a rabid fan to do when as they watch her lose at the game of life over and over and over? That's right, come to this blog and rant at admin.

Do you realize, little troll, that when we read snippets of your rants, we either laugh at you or roll our eyes? If you think you're making points, you're sorely mistaken. Nobody takes you seriously. And nothing you say here can help Kate get another show. How about this--why don't you think for a minute about why she's in her present predicament. You can't blame us, and when you think about it you can't blame Jon, even though Kate does. Did she get fired because of what SHE DID, or did she get fired because he called attention to what SHE DID? Look at it this way--if she did nothing wrong, then it wouldn't matter what he said. She screwed herself. She has nobody but herself to blame.

Now that we've got that out of the way, why not either move on--or better, join in? We talk about lots of things here. You might find something that interests you. If you persist in being cranky, I will have no choice but to post the adorable picture I just took of the aftermath of Sully feeding himself a black bean burger. Don't make me do it.

Layla, I vote "yes" for the black bean burger picture!

Hubby and I are furnishing our new home. The couple who bought our house in New Braunfels bought everything that was not sentimental. Everything -- even the bedding. ( I guess that is a compliment to our sense of decorating.)

I have the time to make this short story long...

Delivery delays are making our purchasing and receiving quirky. Some rooms are more echo than comfort. One room as 4 chairs. No washer and dryer, yet. We waited 14 days for a bed. So...

Today, I bought a 79" x 39" piece of inspiration artwork. The words are on fine canvas. The frame is re-cycled molding from France. The words are from L. R. Knost. (I will be researching more of his work.)

I read will this everyday and be better for the reflection.

"Life is Amazing. And then its awful. And then it's amazing again. And in between the amazing and awful it's ordinary and mundane and routine. Breathe in the amazing, hod on through the awful, and real and whale during the ordinary. That's just living heartbreaking, soul-healing, amazing, awful, ordinary life. And it's breathtakingly beautiful."

This artwork filled a blank wall in our bedroom and will fill my heart daily.

The AAP weighs in on Covid & school re-entry:
With the above principles in mind, the AAP strongly advocates that all policy considerations for the coming school year should start with a goal of having students physically present in school. The importance of inperson learning is well-documented, and there is already evidence of the negative impacts on children because of school closures in the spring of 2020. Lengthy time away from school and associated interruption of supportive services often results in social isolation, making it difficult for schools to identify and address important learning deficits as well as child and adolescent physical or sexual abuse, substance use, depression, and suicidal ideation. This, in turn, places children and adolescents at considerable risk of morbidity and, in some cases, mortality. Beyond the educational impact and social impact of school closures, there has been substantial impact on food security and physical activity for children and families.
Policy makers must also consider the mounting evidence regarding COVID-19 in children and adolescents, including the role they may play in transmission of the infection. SARS-CoV-2 appears to behave differently in children and adolescents than other common respiratory viruses, such as influenza, on which much of the current guidance regarding school closures is based. Although children and adolescents play a major role in amplifying influenza outbreaks, to date, this does not appear to be the case with SARS-CoV-2. Although many questions remain, the preponderance of evidence indicates that children and adolescents are less likely to be symptomatic and less likely to have severe disease resulting from SARS-CoV-2 infection. In addition, children may be less likely to become infected and to spread infection. Policies to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 within schools must be balanced with the known harms to children, adolescents, families, and the community by keeping children at home.
Finally, policy makers should acknowledge that COVID-19 policies are intended to mitigate, not eliminate, risk. No single action or set of actions will completely eliminate the risk of SARS-CoV-2 transmission, but implementation of several coordinated interventions can greatly reduce that risk. For example, where physical distance cannot be maintained, students (over the age of 2 years) and staff can wear face coverings (when feasible). In the following sections, we review some general principles that policy makers should consider as they plan for the coming school year. For all of these, education for the entire school community regarding these measures should begin early, ideally at least several weeks before the start of the school year.

And the protests have been mentioned as a factor by multiple media sources. Why make claims that can be easily proven to be false?

&&&

I have not seen a single story doing that, other than stories asking why are we not putting some of the blame on the protests?

And look, I'm not here to blame protests. I don't care if you went and protested as long as you did so peacefully. People have free will and can read the information out there and decide for themselves what's important. I'm just saying to heavily blame things that Republicans do (go to a campaign rally, listen to a choir singing without masks) and not blame the other side too is hypocritical at best. You're simply being dishonest if you won't admit that the protests were a media darling, coddled and protected from almost all criticism about COVID.

Look, this thing hasn't panned out as a best-case scenario. We knew this was a possibility. Neither is it a doomsday worst-case scenario. We're kind of in a some bad news-some good news period of COVID. And as we edge into July we are transitioning into a new reality. That new reality is this disease is not going away anytime soon, a cure is not happening anytime soon, and it's now been FOUR MONTHS on various lockdowns, depending on your area. We are going to have to start transitioning to living WITH the virus and not hiding away. That is going to be a seriously hard reality for some people, as some people have an intense phobia of the idea that they might die. And there is no reasoning with people like that that they could also easily die in a car accident, get the flu and die, get food poisoning and die. That is because psychologically this is more of an unknown, and some of us fear what we don't know. This fear is clearly extremely intense for some people, and more mild to nonexistant for others (I feel it more mildly as do most of my circle, but there are a few of us who lean on the intense scale and everyone has been patient and understanding with how they are perceiving this). For those of us feeling this intensely, there are a wide variety of options to you such as staying home, seeing a therapist to try to come to grips with your new world, etc. A bad option, however, is to sit at home and insist other people can't work.

For people who are in a good mental and financial spot to take more precautions than others, that's great, stay home. For many people, they need to start being social again and they certainly need to work. If these people are mostly made up of young people, we are going to be in better shape than we would be if they were older.

As I've said for months, we have a whole lot of bad options to choose from and people will need to decide what course they want to take. And unfortunately staying home IS one of those bad options. So is going out, both of them have their downsides.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Finally, policy makers should acknowledge that COVID-19 policies are intended to mitigate, not eliminate, risk. No single action or set of actions will completely eliminate the risk of SARS-CoV-2 transmission

&&&&

THIS. Somewhere along the way the COVID fanatics seem to have forgotten that the goal for ALL states was not to stop all deaths of COVID, the goal is not to overwhelm hospitals so that if you are dying of COVID you at least can get treatment.

Yes, this may sound harsh and callous. But mitigation without complete elimination of the risk is a reality we do every day for every other dangerous thing we encounter in the world. This is because the world is inherently dangerous and it's impossible to completely remove all dangers. Why on earth COVID is treated as a zero sum game by some when literally nothing else is treated like this, is perplexing at best.

Kids ABSOLUTELY must go back to school in the fall or sooner, there is no doubt about that. Yep, some kids will probably die. It will be a tiny amount though based on current stats for kids. I think that needs to be said, sat with, and faced head on. But what seems to be a harder concept for people to understand is the drawbacks of NOT sending them back to school in order to "save lives" I.e. maybe 20-30 kid lives.

Yep. We are at the point where we are weighing how many deaths are acceptable in order to do things like get kids back to school. It is not a good situation, but it's one that must be faced. And if you're not cut out to make tough decisions like that because in your mind all lives must be saved no matter the consequences, please steer well clear of a job in public service where those of us who are serving our counties, states and country have to make the tough calls while you all Karen it all on social media from the comfort of your couch.

More news coming out about the shooting at the CHOP zone shootings this morning. Turns out CHOP "security" fired into a Jeep driven by a 16-year-old. The driver was killed and the passenger (age 14) injured. Both were removed from their vehicle by "CHOP medics" and transported to a medical facility. Police said that by the time they were alerted and arrived at the scene, it was obvious that the scene had been disturbed and people had been into and out of the Jeep. CHOP members said the teenagers had fired upon them, but no guns have been retrieved and nobody but the two in the Jeep were injured. Something really smells about this story. If they were shooting, why wasn't anyone else hurt? What happened to their weapons? Where are the shell casings inside the Jeep? And why does the media keep calling them men when they're only 16 and 14 years old? It's all just too fishy.

Cue the "Gavie is a big pussy" rant in 3...2...1...

$$$

He’s not a pussy but he’s KILLING small businesses which is majority minorities.

The science and evidence that he claims he relies on shows people are now getting this from family gatherings. Not in restaurants an not at the beach. This is disproportionately targeting minorities. You’re sick to cheer this on. Just sick.

At least he gave us a timeline which was outrageous to not give us one last time.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Source for your claim about the "science and evidence?" In my California county, the health department reports that 75% of cases are from unknown person-to-person transmission.

&&&

That is called no evidence, anonymous. My source, our health department is tracing the majority of their contact tracing to family gatherings--birthdays and graduations. We also have a ton of "unknown" cases, but that does not prove or disprove where they are coming from. We don't KNOW if they are coming from restaurants, although I'd be very surprised if they did, given all my contact at restaurants has been very spread out and all servers wearing masks, and it would be very easy to trace an outbreak to a restaurant given most people would be able to remember they went there and tell the contact tracer.

Even the governor said it himself, restaurants are the "potential" to spread it. He has zero proof they are spreading it. He's just speculating they might.

For all your BLM rah-rah, you want to kill small businesses owned overwhelming by minorities on NO evidence. You want to just KILL them. They are done after this, they're not coming back. Watch the suicides roll in. And this is on him. He completely overplayed his hand in April and May and now when he actually needs to dial it back again it's catastrophic instead of just really bad. Just so we're clear, almost all the small restaurants in Los Angeles are run by Hispanics, Asians and BLACKS.

He actually didn't shut down beaches, thank God. Because that's another thing that impacts the poor and minorities, who don't have air conditioning and depend on the beach to cool off. But someone like Newsom who has been filthy rich all his life has never had to suffer in the heat ever, he wouldn't understand.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

I'm also suspicious of Althea B's story. First, she claimed that one of the attackers threw a lit lighter at her. What kind of lighter stays lit when thrown? You need to hold the little flicker-thingy down or it goes out. I'm sure, thought, that the police have found it (since it was thrown into her car) and can answer that question. Also--she was not badly burned, although she says she drove away and then stopped to put the flames out. Her burns are very superficial. And then she says she didn't go to the hospital or the police because she was "high as a kite" on painkillers. Isn't it convenient that she happened to already be high on painkillers when this very painful thing happened? Lastly, she described the attackers as "typical Wisconsin frat boys". As the mother of a few frat boys (although not from Wisconsin), I can say there is no such thing as a "typical" frat boy.

&&&

It's so awful that she is singling out young Wisconsin men who did nothing wrong and the overwhelming majority of whom are NOT racist and support calls for a better police force (as are almost all white people).

And yes, lighters don't stay lit when you throw them. Most modern lighters don't allow you to keep them lit as a safety measure. And even if it did, it's called basic science, the velocity of throwing a small flame like that puts it out.

Another red flag is that the cops have been pretty freaking quiet in the five days since they announced they're investigating. No leads? No video footage? That was exactly the pattern of the Jesse Smolette case. They made a grand announcement they're investigating the hate crime, then when it quickly became clear it was fake, they got quiet, not sure what to do.

Her story stinks to high heaven.

They finally dismantled the media darling CHOP. Due to "violence" and harassment that residents and business owners in the area were receiving. "Enough is enough," said the mayor.

People were literally being held hostage in their apartments above.

31 arrests were made and most of those people were armed with illegal weapons.

Right, resounding success.

Because Los Angeles refuses to put on any public fireworks shows this year, hospital beds are going to be overwhelmed. With people who blew their fingers off with their private stashes.

So the people are spreading Covid within their families. Okay, I’ll give you that... but where are they contracting it from first to then go home and give it to their family members?

&&&

The protests???

Lol. I mean, that's the problem we don't know, because the period between infection and symptoms (and sometimes NO symtoms, for many, but the media loves to hide that fact) can be several days or more, it gets harder and harder to connect A to B.

And that's the thing, how do they know people aren't getting it at grocery stores? Every time you pick up an avocado and put it back. There is just no evidence people are picking this up at restaurants. None. Maybe they are. Maybe they aren't. We literally have no idea. This was a science experiment with no control group, and anyone who thinks they know how this disease operates is lying to you.

People who want to shut down restaurants in California again knowing full well most of the restaurants that are being hardest hit by this new order are run by minorities, are being racist. Or if you like SYSTEMATICALLY RACIST. Two can play the racist game, racist.

You're fine with killing children if it's for BLM. You're also fine with killing minorities with small businesses. You are what you are. These are the positions you support. There's no getting around it now that you and your lot are targeting minorities with these non-sensical, non-science based policies.

My comment was in general about family-to-family contact vs stranger-to-stranger.
Beach, restaurant, grocery store, bar, etc.

This is my first comment regarding this topic probably since May. I really hope you weren’t calling me a racist.

&&&

No, it was directed to anonymous. It was said rather tongue in cheek, playing off anonymous who loves to call anything and everything racist, which is why I said two can play at that game. At the same time, even many liberals have acknowledged that many COVID policies appear to be unfairly targeting the poor. For instance a Walmart could stay open, but not a mom and pop store on Figueroa that sells similar items (and is run by a nice immigrant couple, minorities, or run by a black family, as they often are), must close. Similarly, it is easier for a restaurant like a McDonalds to weather three more weeks of a shutdown than the taco stand or BBQ pit run by minorities, who might not hang in there 3 more weeks. Janice Hahn comes to mind as a liberal who has raised the issue of unfairness and targeting in these rules from officials, she has been making this point for months. And she's right.

You BLM people sure are a sick lot. Really really sick. Oh and by the way, he’s black.

"I still don't know what's going on," he said. "I'm hearing from YouTube. I don't know nothing. All I know is my son is dead. I'm still trying to figure out answers so I can sleep. I don't sleep. My kids don't sleep. I can't even stay at home. My kids, they feel like they are unsafe at home. I've been buying motel rooms and I don't have that type of money. I wasn't prepared for this."

Anonymous I don't watch CNN OR Foxnews. I don't watch TV except maybe a couple hours on the weekend. I highly, highly recommend you not watch either of those. They are both into fear porn and getting you hooked to keep on coming back, like dope, which is having a dramatic effect on you, especially when I see you ranting in the middle of the night about this while everyone else is sleeping.

I READ and LISTEN to my news, from a wide variety of sources. Two of my favorites to listen are KFI and Ben Shapiro. A few of my favorites to read are The Washington Post, Drudge Report, Ars Technica, and LA Daily News (one of the few local sources still printing the COVID area DEATH rate, which most other news sources have casually stopped reporting as it's so low at this point they worry people will lose interest in their fear porn)

I also independently check out things like graphs and percentages from the source themselves, instead of reading an article about it that tends to summarize what THEY think is important.

If you would like to hear more sources, I'd be happy to provide them. You seriously need to branch out, clearly.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

While it's bit buried, it took me about six clicks to get there, The Washington Post still has a number of graphs online, include graphs that show death rates. They begrudgingly admit "The overall daily death toll declined from May to late June."

We have been on a decline since May, and despite the fear porn, remain on a decline. In all but a few states that decline has been extremely steep. In the few states where it's not as steep, it's still falling.

The numbers are what they are, and cheering on more deaths and a different narrative just because you hate Trump is all kinds of sick. These are people's LIVES.

I was fearful of death from this in the beginning. Not so much now but I could still end up in hospital due to my health issues and have to try to pay off my $8000 deductible afterwards. That scares me some. So I stay home as much as possible.

My county is still getting one or two a day. Not bad thankfully. A county near mine has had a huge rise in cases. 20+ a day. It started a bit after June 1st. After students moved into their apartments that they will have for the school year. The county health has done contact tracing and have had a list of places. Gyms, restaurants, stores, etc but the majority have been taverns. THey also track the ages and the majority have been 20-29 yr olds. So we are not in decline around here. Wish we were.

The CV death rate is on the decline, but lefties don't want anyone to realize that. They can't bash Trump for it, so those facts don't exist.

My youngest sister was diagnosed with CV in early June. She's an ER nurse, and also has type-1 diabetes. She was hospitalized and treated so her condition wouldn't worsen and cause irreparable damage to her already-damaged kidneys. I'm happy to say she came through it relatively unscathed and is now at home on quarantine. Interestingly, she was treated with hydroxychloroquine. Yes, the same drug that Trump said was effective, but lefties said would kill you. It worked! I always wondered where the stories of the dangers of hydroxychloroquine came from. I have lupus, and took it for years. It saved me when my condition was at its worst, and it helped save my sister. Every lupus sufferer I know has taken it at some point. I guess we need to ignore those success stories though. Heaven forbid anyone should say that Trump was right about anything!

Speaking of snowflakes (we were, weren't we?), I just read a story about a Harvard student who posted a video of herself saying that if she ever hears someone say "All lives matter", she's going to stab them and then as they writhe on the ground, bleeding out, she's going to show them her paper cut and say, "My cut matters too". Her "dream job" offer was promptly rescinded. So, like the entitled little lefty she is, she made another video of herself sobbing into the camera and blaming Trump supporters for the loss of her job. Really, girl? You post a video of yourself vowing to stab anyone who says something you don't like, and then claim it's not your fault that you lose your job over it???? I have no words. Good job, Harvard. I guess critical thinking skills aren't part of the curriculum.

BTW, my whole family LOVES Ben Shapiro!

I would much rather have that order than an order killing an African-American's restaurant business. It's an order that can come with no unintended consequences that I could possibly think of that would hurt anyone. Obnoxious, yes. Hurtful, no.

Shutting down fireworks shows who have already set them up to be safe is one with unintended and DANGEROUS consequences--much more home shows, more home parties, risk of spreading the disease or hurting yourself with home fireworks, etc. Watch, you're gonna see a bunch of people blow themselves up.

No one said Hydroxychloroquine WOULD kill you, only that there are potential side effects that COULD kill you that Trump was ignoring. Specifically, that medication can affect the heart and heart rhythm. It affects something called the QTc measurement on ECG. This medication (and many others) can prolong the QTc which CAN cause the heart to enter into a dysrhythmia called Torsades de Pointes which can be fatal if not immediately reversed with paddles. People who are on Hydroxychloroquine for other reasons would have (or should have) had an ECG to check the QTc prior to starting the medication. If the QTc is below a certain level (500), the risk is very minimal but if the QTc is close to or higher than 500 the risk is much much higher. The problem with what Trump was doing was encouraging people to take it without acknowledging the real potential for a fatal side effect

&&&

I agree with you. It's interesting to me you are able to see the unintended consequences of something like that, but can't see the unintended, DEADLY consequences of asking people to stay at home, close their restaurants, and not go to firework shows. Interesting the disconnect for you.

I really don’t know what’s going on in the US. In Canada, businesses are open with strict guidelines. Restaurants at 50% or no capacity limit if social distancing is maintained. Hotels never closed, but some of the bigger players did due to the fact they had no occupancy. Most provinces are in phase 2 opening on their way to phase 3. Emergency unemployment benefits were extended to the end of August, along with the federal gov’t supplementing company payrolls to 75% to the end of August, and a multitude of other programs. So while revenues are significantly down for all businesses and it won’t be a stellar year, a good majority will be able to survive - and some won’t unfortunately. The company I work for will most likely be able to break even by the end of the year. All the assistance was centrally provided by the Federal gov’t and was passed by all 3 major political parties.
I work in finance for my company - access to all the programs was insanely easy.
And we definitely have ppl who don’t wear masks, but I would say 70% do.

CNN)A global study has found strong evidence that a new form of the coronavirus has spread from Europe to the US. The new mutation makes the virus more likely to infect people but does not seem to make them any sicker than earlier variations of the virus, an international team of researchers reported Thursday.

$$$

Oh, Here’s some new “science” that says the spread of COVid had nothing to do with the USA doing something wrong vs Europe, we just got a strain of this thing that spreads much easier. It’s so easy to gloat about your control of the virus when you got a lighter strain of it.

Turns out the reason the USA has had a bit of a longer time in the flat area of the curve, (and we are flat, read the graphs) is because of this easier-to-catch strain.

What's wrong? You don't like science now? You liked it before!

Re: Hydroxychloroquine and ECGs--I have not had a single ECG since being diagnosed with SLE and I took Hydroxychloroquine (also called Plaquenil) for 3 years. My sister was not given an ECG at any point while taking it for her CV diagnosis. I don't recall anyone in my lupus support group ever mentioning being given ECGs, although all of us have taken it/are currently taking it. So it seems strange to me to read that it's so dangerous and that we should have had regular heart monitoring--but none of us have. Why are even the ones who go to hospitals like Johns Hopkins or Georgetown--not being monitored if it's such a dangerous drug? The subject has never even come up in our group discussions, and I have been in this group for 4 years now. Are all of our doctors negligent when it comes to our medical care? Something is not adding up here--at least to me.

Fact.

Canada has the same strain correct. But you do know the number one reason Canada hasn't had as big of a problem, right? You have a population of 36 million, we have a population of 336 million! And, you're spread out, with the exception of a few cities. We have a hundred times the amount of large cities you do. Canada and USA pound for pound area almost exactly the same land area. When you look at Ontario and Quebec, where you actually have some people, they are experiencing the exact same surge in young people (over age 20) that the USA is experiencing. You are in the same exact boat, just on a smaller scale, with your rural areas doing fine, and your cities struggling.

Compare our rural areas of Texas and Wyoming who have no cases, or once case since April 1 or whatever, and they're just like Canada. You also have had an extremely strict travel ban, letting in almost no one from abroad, anywhere. A travel ban that would have had the USA called racist. But when Canada does it, it's fine. Hypocrites.

Nicky, you haven no business gloating about Canada when you known damn well how small your population is compared to the USA. People are DYING, and you're gloating. Let's see Canada tackle this problem with a population of 336 million and then let me know how you do.

You pay for this all though with exorbitant tax rates which this year many people won't be able to afford anymore. You all also have to pay Employment Insurance, workers here pay 0 and our employers pick up the tab. So it gets you on the back end. Canada should probably let all businesses in most areas to open to 100%, you don't have the cases to justify anything less.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

That was your feeble and dishonest attempt to claim that restaurants and bars were not contributors, just like your sad post about Alabama parties in which you claimed that restaurants were not an issue because Alabama party boys were responsible for some cases. Your arguments are consistently blatantly false and fundamentally illogical.

&&&

You're not understanding my point. In order to rest blame on something, one must have evidence of it. To date, there simply is no evidence restaurants are contributing to the spread. Maybe they are, maybe they aren't. We don't know. Our evidence at this point is spotty, with most people having no idea how they got this, but many people have been able to trace to private family gatherings, AT HOME.

I have not refused to blame restaurants. I have said to date, there is no EVIDENCE that restaurants cause the spread. And if one cannot be confident in any way that something has caused another, it makes little sense to me to shut them down, while simultaneously letting other similar gatherings, like protests, rallies, home parties, go forward.

It is the inconsistency that is my point (and the point of an increasing number of politicians here who are sick of this), inconsistent rules that are increasingly unfairly targeting the middle class and minorities.

I guess I see it this way, if you want to shut down restaurants, then you also need to shut down EVERYTHING, anything else is an arbitrary targeting of one business sector and patently unfair.

Let's remember, you are taking away somebody's fundamental right to make a living and feed their kids. Shouldn't our standard for doing something that serious be a bit higher than just a wild guess?

I'm on the side of the small businesses, always have been, always will be. If they say this is unfair and arbitrary, then so do I. (And it is)

Not gloating - just stating facts.
Ontario and Quebec - the main reason they have larger numbers is due to the fact their spring break was scheduled 1 week before the rest of the provinces in March.

You are saying here that YOUR LOT is going to "riot" if they don't get their fireworks show.
Honestly. I've never heard anything more ridiculous in my life.

&&&

You're naive if you think normal everyday things aren't a big deal. For someone who is depressed, those normal everyday things are the difference between suicide and carrying on.

Personally I don't care about fireworks shows. I usually end up camping over the Fourth and most campsites here don't allow fireworks because of the fire danger. (we're going next weekend this year)

What I do take issue with is the arbitrariness of the rules. Especially targeting restaurants. Wait a second, all the restaurants here have rules to wear masks and socially distance (until of course your food comes and you start eating). Here they even shut down streets so restaurants can spread out their outdoor tables. I thought that all was supposed to "slow the spread". Can you explain why masks and social distancing is oh so important if it apparently doesn't work in restaurants?? So do the masks and social distancing work or does it not work? Which is it?

Your lot need to get it together, be consistent, and provide us rules that are logical and make sense, because you've lost the public at this point. And when you've l lost the public, they stop following the rules.

I know some people object to masks. I don't.

________
Hold on. Could have sworn you were ranting against masks saying they do NOT help and actually make it worse?

&&&&

Hold on. The research on mask is sketchy at best. Guidance on masks has changed several times, even doctors aren't sure. For instance if they work so well, how come we're shutting down businesses again?? Where people were WEARING the savior masks? Do they work or not work? Which is it?

I said I don't object to politicians ordering us to wear them. I didn't say I'm convinced they help. But since they don't involve taking away a minority's hard earned small business from him, have at it, order us to wear masks.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

The research on masks is clear: they are many times better than not wearing one, even when not worn properly.

&&&

If you think the research on masks is "clear" you're not paying attention.

The research is SKETCHY. So sketchy that many health officials have changed their advisement on them more than once in an extremely short period. We also have had an extremely short time period to examine this issue, shorter than most scientific experiments when it comes to our health, which leaves the issue very much open to error. They might help. They might not. Misusing them can spread the virus because you touch your face more often. Social distancing may be the cause of a reduction in cases. And many places that are seeing a surge have a high mask compliance, begging the question whether they're making a difference. Whether ANY of this is making a difference. And that's when you lose the public's trust, when you claim this is all scientific and you must comply, yet the data isn't matching your "science."

I think the politicians, and people like you who truly believe in masks, would really break through to a lot more people if you were honest for once. Don't insist that masks work and that it's "clear" they work. Instead, admit the truth. You don't know. The science ISN'T clear. There is some data that SUGGESTS they MIGHT work, but not enough data has been gathered nor time has passed to really test the theory. And some data in high compliance mask areas suggests they're not making a different. BUT, you would like the public to wear them anyway because we don't have a lot of options and we would like to give this a go longer and see if we can get it to make a real tangible difference.

In other words, be humble about what we don't know for a change. The public will respond. See the governor of Texas, who is doing an incredible job, the best of any governor in the country. And all because he always falls back on two things: honesty, and humbleness.

Where I differ from some people who have the same questions about masks, is I'm willing to wear it even if it's not the law. For a time. I can tell you right now when I stood in a line with no shade to get into a farmer's market for over 30 minutes the other day, I felt faint after awhile in my mask, and saw several people have to abandon the line to go home and get water and cool down. That's lost business, and that's awful. That's risking people's health. I'm young and healthy, but what about someone who was not in lines like these, or children? It's easier for people in milder climates to chide about wearing masks, but those of us who live in the sunbelt are in for a long summer with real potential dangers in wearing masks.

Anonymous here are the real numbers. The San Jose Mercury News is reporting 95% compliance rate for masks in California. So basically, almost everyone. And yet we are surging. States with lower mask compliance like Wyoming aren’t having a surge.

The biggest factor in covid is population density. You can see this even in LA which has almost full mask compliance. You’re 50 times more likely
To have covid in East la than in West. For those who don’t know, the rich live in the west and the poor hispanics live in crowded conditions in the east.

It’s not masks. It’s population density. People are spreading it among their households, the places they were told were safe. Period end of story. But keep wearing your masks if it makes you feel better, sure. Your lot only wants to follow the science when it disagrees with trump. You’re insufferable.

“'Our inspectors provided 83 percent of restaurants they visited with copies of the protocols,' Dr. Ferrer added, 'because they were struggling to be in compliance.' Investigators also found that at least some employees at 54 percent of bars they assessed were not wearing face masks and shields, compared to 44 percent for the restaurants they visited. 49 percent of bars and one-third of restaurants were also not practicing or enforcing social distance rules, mandating the spacing of tables and of people inside the businesses."

Stop attacking minorities who own restaurants who are doing the best that they can under the circumstances. They are full of minimum wage workers, workers who don't speak english, the poor and the uneducated. Most restaurants in LA are no bigger than 400 square feet. Your racism is coming through. The solution is not to SHUT THEM DOWN and basically drive them to suicide, you prick.

Californians standing up to the harassment of restaurants by the SS. Proud of them!

About 200 state inspectors that are part of new “strike teams” set up by California Gov. Gavin Newsom are fanning out over the weekend to enforce rules — and encountered trouble in the Santa Clara County city of Morgan Hill.

At a news conference Saturday, Mayor Rich Constantine slammed the appropriateness of armed officers with the state’s Alcohol Beverage Control who visited at least a dozen restaurants Friday night and ordered them to close.

Constantine said he doesn’t know why the agents ordered the restaurants to close when they are allowed to operate outdoors. The strike team did not cite anyone, but they were “heavy-handed” and did not explain what the restaurants were doing wrong, he said.

“We can’t even get ahold of anybody in the governor’s office, and we’re the government,” Constantine said. “The county attorney, our city attorney all have been trying to get an answer so we can get our businesses a definitive answer.”

Ladera Grill owner Dan McCranie said it’s beyond frustrating that just as they’re starting to get customers back, “these guys come up and say we can’t show you a rule or regulation but you will stop this.”

I don't think she's quite off the edge yet. She was (again) well below 440K followers---and dropping---up until maybe 4 days ago. And she's picked up over 700 in the past 72 hours. I don't know if it's Kate manipulating the purchases, but it's pretty obvious the uptick is not happening organically. I hope IG is paying attention.

I think it's easy to say, ‘Government should have done this or should not have done this.’ But I think if you had a vote, you'd find it 50/50 on almost everything. We're trying to be as stringent as we can while recognizing the economic problems.

Without TLC's backing, all Kate can really do not is buy IG followers. There won't be filming or media appearances or People Magazine covers without her sugar daddy (TLC) around to make those things happen. She probably still believes she "can't go back", but right now she really doesn't have a choice. I bet she'd give just about anything for a pap to come along and take her picture now, just so she can feel like a celebrity again. Instead she has to settle for an appearance on one of Mady's TikTok videos.

M. (135)
Lots of teenage/young adult girls are doing the nose piercing these days. It's getting so that it's more noteworthy to see one without a nose piercing then with one.

I'm so happy to see that C got to spend the 4th with his friends! He was always the odd kid out in his family when he was with Kate, and now he gets to have friendships outside his family and experiences that aren't orchestrated by TLC or controlled by his mother. He's spreading his wings and learning to fly.

And she's chosen to sit in the middle of the cereal aisle because nobody is buying her what she wants anymore like a pathetic child who won't get up. Fine and dandy and all you just let them sit there long as it takes. They figure it out on their own they up and don't get squat.

She'll figure out her own sad, broke pathetic life sooner or later. She'll be y'know middle aged and all, her choice.

Is trump a scientist now? I didn't realize he knew more than the people who studied for decades. All those businesses that want to be open won't have customers when everybody is dead from a pandemic that your lot deems inconvenient.

Fear porn. Shameful to spread fear porn. Calm down. "Everyone" is not going to be dead from a pandemic even if every single person got this disease right now. You can read graphs and charts, right? And you can see that a tiny fraction of people are hospitalized, and an even tinier fraction of those are dead. If you are healthy and under 50, you have an almost zero percent chance of dying from this. If you're over 50, it creeps up a couple percentage points.

You do understand for most people this is just the flu, right? Or do you watch CNN all day.

What will happen though is if you continue to insist on trashing people's lives, a lot more than 0 percent of young people are going to kill themselves.

YOU stay home. The rest of us would like to go out and WORK.

Exactly. It makes sense to say let's just stay home if it's March. It makes little to no sense in July when we now realize we're going to have to just live with this thing until a vaccine, which may not come at all.

Stay at home?? For how long? Until a vaccine? We will collapse.

Stay home, save lives is an overly simplistic viewpoint that does not take into account the numerous other factors that go into quality of life and living.

And we stayed home and people still got it like crazy anyway, EVERYWHERE, even in places with strict lockdowns like Italy. The evidence staying at home helped in such a dramatic way is weak. It's clear it mitigates, somewhat, but by no means was a cure.

I'm curious when the left will take responsibility for the obvious cause of the surge--the protests. No, no, no, no, you don't get to go out and do whatever you want under the guise of "BLM" and then turn around 3 weeks later and pull jobs from the poor and minorities again. Oh, HELL NO. Take a hike!

Kate's hurting for some attention. She's unemployed and stuck at home with nobody but her kids to feed her ego, so she can't go for long without posting something just to get a reaction. She just can't help herself. She's a narcissist, so her ego desperately needs the "Oh, you're such a good mom! You're so amazing!" comments, and she's a drama queen too so she feeds off the infighting that goes on there. As far as TLC is concerned, if they're dumb enough to give her their time and money once again, they deserve what they get from her--nothing but trouble.

Oh, will you look at that--TLC has a new multiples show. Mom and Dad have 4 sets of multiples--two sets of twins, one set of quintuplets, and in the first season the mother gives birth to triplets. Plus there's two singles, for a total of 14 kids. Sure does leave Kate in the dust.

FlimsyFlamsy said...

Layla (#147), with every passing day, it becomes less and less likely for TFW to get any sort of TV opportunity, much less a series. What is her Plan B?
It sure ain't nursing.

Boy, it must chap her hide to see the Duggars pull in a million viewers a week. There always seems to be another courtship, wedding or new baby to generate interest. What has Schmoopy got besides a burning hatred for her ex?

Layla said...

FlimsyFlamsy (148)
But...Kate had sextuplets! That's one more than this new family has birthed at one time! Surely that entitles her to a lifetime of filming, right? Never mind the fact that she can't produce two of the six for filming or pictures or pretty much anything.

Yeah, I'm sure it infuriates her to know that the Duggars are still filming and still pulling in ratings that she could only dream of. And so are the Sister Wives...and the LPBW family...and the Little Couple. The difference is the fact that they are all more likeable than she is. And more interesting. What does she really have going on that's worth filming? Vacations, renovations and shopping trips got old a decade ago, and she has nothing more interesting to offer. In the last few months, the only things she even had worth posting on IG about is buying 21 boxes of cereal and Aaden getting his braces off. Of course she's angry that it all wasn't filmed, but she just needs to get over it. She's done.

I am so torn on the use of masks. My friend's 1st cousin just died from covid. He was in hospital and on ventilator for a month. He was in his 60's but healthy and had followed the distancing and MASK recommendations. He and his wife both got it. I know it is only one instance but it scares me. I just try to stay home as much as possible. Quit my part time job so I don't have to worry there. I just get groceries and go home. I may have to start driving 60 miles round trip to be able to use the Grocery pick up offered at the big stores in bigger towns. Our local Walmart doesn't have it. THankfully I have plenty of art supplies here and garden to keep me busy.

Ann,
Maybe she invested well, we really don't know. She's stuck in Ghettoville, her kids are growing up and leaving her--meaning she'll soon be there alone, and the cameras are gone. She's never going to find a partner in life-even having a whole network setting up dates for her didn't help. Her reputation is garbage. She has few friends, if any, since her former so-called friends all seemed to be paid to be around her. I don't think there's anything about her life that anyone else would want right now, and it sure looks like it's never going to get better. So if she has money invested, she can live there by herself for the next 40 years and watch other people on TV. I sure don't have a problem with that.

I agree, narcissists need attention in any form they can get it. If IG is the only place where she can get it, then that's fine. But everyone knows she doesn't want to be sitting around the house, reading comments about her. She wants her cameras there, capturing her every move. She wants people fussing over her, doing her makeup and hair and fetching her Starbucks. She wants to lie in bed and watch herself on the TV screen. She tried to keep away from IG, but she couldn't. It's the only fix he has right now.

BTW, yesterday was one year since that awful dating show ended. Of course, she desperately wanted another season, but hasn't gotten it. She's finally learning that "no" actually means "no"--even for her.

That is very sad to hear. One of the dangers of masks is they give people a false sense of security. I'm wearing my mask, therefore I don't need to socially distance, wash hands, not touch my face. Masks seem to encourage face touching, all I see is people touching them to adjust them and I cringe.

The single biggest determining factor of COVID remains as it was on March 16--population. If you live in a low population area, you probably won't get it. High population area, more likely you will.

The vast majority of people getting COVID are mask wearers. There is no "surge" of cases from people not wearing masks. Contact tracers are tracing this to home life now--spreading it among the family home just doing day to day things with family, families holding small gatherings like graduations and birthdays, etc.

But sure, trash hairdressers and gyms and ruin their lives. Please, by all means.

Layla said...

Ingrid, I am so sorry about your friend's cousin! Sounds like he did everything right, but somehow it got to him anyway. Just like my sister, who is a nurse at a hospital where they are vigilant about PPE. She got it anyway, and thinks it must be from somewhere other than the hospital--even though she always wears a mask and gloves, and sanitizes everything.

We're in the Washington, DC area so it's pretty congested here. I only go out when I have to. It gets old, but it's better than getting Covid!

CC said...

The problem with masks is that they don’t cover your eyes. That’s why ALL people who are in public places must wear masks.

The ones that don’t want to wear masks are putting others at risk because their droplets go in the air and masks only protect your nose and mouth. Your eyes are also a way that the virus gets into your body.

The average person probably has the medical knowledge of somebody from the 19th century. I mean we can't know everything about everything, that's why when we don't feel very good most of us seek out a doctor to help instead of just taking care of it ourselves, because we aren't really sure.

Yes, you are right, eyes are porous and you can get infections through your eyes. Walking around with no eye protection on is like walking around without a mask. You need both.

The thing is, if all this worked I would have expected no infections among hospital staff as they are in full on hazmat every day. This thing is contagious as hell. Thankfully, most people recover fully.

Layla said...

Ugh, you're right about the eyes. I have allergies, and when I go out, I tend to want to rub my eyes. Bad move! It's just something we all do without thinking about it. Wearing gloves and masks doesn't cover all the bases. It seems like herd immunity is the only way we're going to get ahead of this thing, unless a vaccine comes along soon.

You know I will! He's also going to be walking any day now. He can stand on his own, and sometimes he goes to take a step--and then puts his hand on something at the last moment, more a lack of confidence than anything. It won't be long before he's everywhere. He loves pots and pans (especially when there's a metal spoon to make even more noise), anything with buttons (remotes, keyboards, and cell phones are fascinating!),and most recently the instant-read thermometer, which beeps and flashes a green light when used. He loves the water (his bath, the beach, his baby pool, his splash pad--he'll take water anywhere he can get it). He feeds himself--oh, the mess!--and he can take his shirt off, which he finds hilarious. He's the boss baby.

I just spoke to my friend whose daughter is a student at Syracuse, and she said her daughter will be going back to campus this fall, but starting a bit earlier than normal and ending the semester earlier than normal. So it appears that Mady will be able to head back to school. I don't know anyone with kids at Fordham, but hopefully Cara can go back, too. They need a break from Kate, I'm sure, and it's sad to think that they were finally able to have a taste of freedom--and then had it ripped away so suddenly. I think this experience will make them appreciate their independence even more.

Layla said...

Has anyone else heard about Kanye West's rants, both at his rally and on Twitter? Talking about aborting his daughter...this is a perfect illustration of why we here have always been against putting children in the public eye. North will have to live with this for the rest of her life. She will have to come to terms with facts that no child should ever know about. A 7-year-old is not equipped to cope with the knowledge that her parents considered ending her life before it even began. She may be bullied about it. Either way, it's going to be a huge burden for her to deal with, emotionally. I think the greatest gift a parent can give their child is privacy. North's has been violated and she can't stand up for herself. Kim may be upset, but she's so addicted to the limelight that she will continue to use her child for attention no matter what the consequences.

Does anyone here believe the G kids haven't had to endure bullying over private matters that were made public? Every embarrassing moment of their childhoods played out for the public to watch. Potty training, vomiting, meltdowns, it's all out there. Kate sending C off to a "facility" and then having the story plastered all over the front of People Magazine. Smirking in her interview chair while she talks about C's supposed problems and gloating that Jon doesn't even know where his son is. It's all wrong. What kind of world do we live in? How have we come to view vulnerable children as commodities, to be bought and sold to anyone willing to watch them? God help us all.

FlimsyFlamsy said...

Layla (#164), about North West, sadly the phrase "poor little rich girl" comes to mind. All the material wealth in the world will never make up for the profound emotional damage her father inflicted with that comment. He was clearly off his meds. I am no fan of Kim Kardashian, but I suspect this incident really shook her up. Who knows...maybe it will make her take a step back.

Layla said...

FlimsyFlamsy (165),
You're right about North--and about all kids being sold for profit by their parents. There is profound emotional damage being done to all of them, even if they don't know it. It's more profound for some than others. Does anyone here think that it's just a coincidence that Hannah--of "Hannah pooped in Hannah's underwear" fame--who fought so hard to get away from Kate and from filming? I suspect she has heard that line repeated so many times that it literally makes her sick. She found out the hard way that her other has no intentions of protecting her privacy--ever. She went to the one parent she had who she knew would allow her to live a normal life. I looked over some of the comments about the last few years' episodes, and saw that Hannah frequently was not taking part in the things her siblings were filmed doing. It was interpreted as favoritism--why do all the other kids have to work on projects while Hannah sits off to the side--but it's far more likely she was rebelling against filming. And there was mention of her being filmed with stress headaches. Could her stress headaches be a result of being forced to film? I think it's likely.

I really don't think Kim K is going to do anything to protect her daughter. She will continue to exploit North because she, like Kate, prioritizes fame and filming over the well-being of her children. Something is fundamentally lacking in these women--maybe it's lack of maternal instinct, maybe it's something deeper--that makes them prioritize fame over their own children's well-being. And the kids are left with nobody to protect them. That's supposed to be what the parent does. When the parent refuses, then there is nobody left.

FlimsyFlamsy said...

Layla (#166), I think it was also a burden that TFW branded H as "the leader, and Mommy's helper" while the child was still in diapers. There it was in the opening credits for years and years. J was "sneaky," C was "stubborn." It was like they were just characters in a series, not actual children.

Layla said...

FlimsyFlamsy (167)
You're right--sadly, Hannah was never a child to be nurtured and loved, at least not to her other. She was a character in a show, a commodity to be auctioned off. Jon mentioned recently that Hannah was sick of being forced to play the "leader" character for filming, and she just wanted to be Hannah. It's so sad that she had to fight so hard for the right to just be herself.

Kate has never taken responsibility for her treatment of those kids. She seems to know how bad it looks when she mistreats them, but she feels no actual guilt. I'm thinking back to the one episode of K+8 that I actually watched--the one where they went back-to-school shopping. They were going to the mall and Hannah had one of her stress headaches. Kate said, "I know it looks bad that we're carting our sick child off to the mall". We? What "we"? it's her. She was, as she constantly reminded us, a single mother. There was no "we" forcing that child to work while she was sick. That was all Kate. And what about "our" sick child? Jon is her father, so :our" would seem to include him, but he has been very vocal for many years about NOT wanting his children to be filmed at all. There was no "we" or "our", it was just one greedy, self-absorbed other who refused to let her child's illness get in the way of filming. And then she tried to make it sound like it wasn't all her decision, but it definitely was. She is just evil.

Kate fought hard to keep custody of Hannah. She needed Hannah to complete her set of 8. She could continue to pretend that C was only gone temporarily, but if Jon got custody of H, she couldn't pretend that they were still a family unit. Once she lost H, then she didn't have sextuplets to draw interest. She didn't have the 8 to rhyme with Kate. She didn't even show up for C, and once TLC fired her, she agreed that the kids could choose to live with whatever parent they wanted. Because they are no longer going to make her rich or famous, she has no further use for them. She's not going to bother to fight for any of them if she can't film the. That is just cold.

4am? Seriously, they couldn't give the show a better time slot? Who is up watching at 4am? Or...maybe that's the point. I suspect Kate has dug the last of the change out of the sofa cushions and has turned to TLC to air some old shows so she can get a few bucks in residuals. This firing is very different from the last one. No income from magazine covers, no co-hosting of talk shows, no "Let's trash Jon!" interviews. She's pretty much abandoned and ignored, to the point that getting up at 4am to watch herself on TV is her last, tenuous link to her glory days. Enjoy it, Kate!

Sarah said...

Layla (171),
Except she most likely isn't receiving a cent from the reruns of the show no matter it's time slot. VBG It's still pretty rare for reality show contracts to include residual/rerun payments - especially for someone like TFW who had very little bargaining power left for years toward the end when it came to contract terms. She sure wasn't wielding the clout with the network like she used to during her heyday; heck, imo, she was lucky to have a contract at all.
Thankfully, for the sake of the kids, she doesn't even have that now. Thinking back, it sure took a long time to finally be rid of her and for the kids to have their lives and privacy back. SMH. What a sad commentary on the destruction of a family, and to think of the profits reaped by TFW and TLC from this makes me ill.

there was mention of royalties when Jon and Kate went to court over Kate's failure to transfer H&C's trust funds over to Jon's control. She responded that he needed to provide account numbers for her to give to TLC so that TLC could deposit royalties into them. So it sounds like they do get something for reruns--although not much, I'm sure.

FlimsyFlamsy (177)
Maria Shriver is a class act. Kate has no class whatsoever. Maria has raised her children with an involved father and taught them how to handle conflict with dignity. Kate, not so much. The kids who are with her have been taught that if anyone disagrees with you, you walk away. Spouses, friends, family--it doesn't matter. They are disposable. I hope that H&C are learning how to navigate relationships by watching Jon and Colleen. They have been together for years and clearly love one another. They have to negotiate normal conflicts and difficulties, and I hope this helps H&C learn how to resolve conflict in a healthy way. Sadly, the other kids aren't learning those skills.

A book I'm reading on Kindle referred to the strange doings of Jon & Kate. Nothing else but just that. Never know where they might pop up. Obviously the book isn't new.

Bindie Irwin is pregnant already. Dang it’s so fun to think how jealous Kate must be all these families continuing to get their filming and next generation episodes.

From Dmasy --

Hello ladies. We are quiet here, but I still think of all of you. I saw the happy announcement from Bindie Irwin.

We are well. Being careful. We went back to our old neighborhood in New Braunfels yesterday. So good to see our friends.

I hope all of you are well.

Such wonderful news for Bindi Irwin! Let's hope she allows her baby some privacy. I chatted with my friend who has a daughter at Syracuse. Move-in for them is next week, so it looks like Mady will be able to go back to living on campus. That makes me happy--she needs to get away from her mother's influence and spread her wings a bit. I suspect Kate has been trying to sell some kind of show with the twins since they have been home. Hopefully nobody bothered to respond.

Sully is 10 months old now! Standing on his own, thinking about taking some steps (but chickens out and grabs something at the last second). He's fascinated with child-proof locks. He'll grab them and then look at us and laugh. I'm sure he's thinking, "Fools! Your puny locks won't keep me out for long!". He says many words now, can point out eyes, ears, nose, mouth, etc. Loves water, people, animals, noisy toys (the noisier the better!), and singing (his newest talent). He is just perfection.

I'm SO GLAD about that and happy for her. They are really sucker punching these college kids left and right, some schools really screwing them over. And it's INSANE the way these online schools think they are going to get away with bilking all these poor families for the SAME EXACT price as in person classes--get outta here.

Quarantine has been the worst on abused and emotionally manipulated kids, trapped and locked up with their abusers.

Boy you're not kidding.

Admin (#181), TFW probably also regrets not staying "close" to the Irwins so she could get a little coattail action: a wedding invite, a guest-star appearance on the sbow, etc. No more all-expenses-paid "posh" trips for Schmoopy. She won't even get the call-in code for a Zoom baby sbower.

It's probably her own laziness that sabotaged that relationship. Teri was obviously very fond of her, and she even got that invite to the gala. I'm betting she's the type that thinks she can text someone twice a year and still get all the freebies.

I also wouldn't be surprised if Teri eventually saw she was just looking to mooch and quietly cut ties. But there was no reason in the world this friendship should not have blossomed, especially with the two of them having something so unusual in common, reality tv children.

Amy Schumer managed to snag a second season of her quarantine show. It's delightful, it's just her and her husband and baby cooking in the kitchen with their nanny filming. The budget must be rock bottom.

One thing COVID has shown is who can adapt, innovate, be creative and resourceful with what you have, and who stays at home and can only post braces cake photos.

Lori Loughlin's husband sentenced.

BOSTON (AP) — A federal judge has accepted a plea deal that calls for fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli to serve five months in prison for cheating the college admissions process.

Giannulli and his wife, “Full House” star Lori Loughlin, pleaded guilty in May to paying half a million dollars to get their daughters into the University of Southern California. Loughlin is expected to be sentenced later Friday. Her plea deal with prosecutors calls for her to serve two months behind bars. Giannulli and Loughlin were among dozens arrested last year in the case dubbed “Operation Varsity Blues.”

My heart goes out to Lori and her family at this difficult time, 56 years old and headed to prison. We should all take a serious moment of silence for the great strain this is going to have upon them and the impact it is going to have upon the foreseeable future of so many people--Lori's career, her husband's fashion brand, not to mention her children's future's having to live with that stigma.

Oh bull! I just needed a good solid laugh tonight ladies! I don't feed sorry! Not one bit! You as an adult make decisions and your children as freaking CAPABLE ADULTS who are 18 or older should be treated as ADULTS, all played a role in this slop.

You have to take responsibility for your own actions, and it's shame when you don't teach your children that lesson in life. If she had really wanted her children to have an education, she should have raised her girls to value education all those years ago when they were going to K-12, seen to it that they had decent grades, made the deal like my husband I did possibly, if you have the money, if you want us to help you out financially, then you're starting your butts at a community college. I don't care if you're a celebrity kid nobody cares get over it. Or, if you don't want to go to college, take flight and figure out what it is what you want to do because you're an adult at 18--perhaps not emotionally mature adults but adults nevertheless.

Lori and her husband obviously didn't DO anything these things. And, however sad that is they went the back door route. Costing them this embarrassment and their children--well--let me see, um...no possible decent shot at applying to college probably not that it sounds like either kids ever had interest and themselves prison time now. So, what really WAS the point?

On another note--I'm a tad surprised to not see Kate having blathered ON and ON with pictures of the kids at home schooling and how hard SHE has it now and woe is ME and such and such. All set up at the dining room table for a back to school picture.

Lol free Aunt Becky.

Shoulda taken that settlement last year and she’d only be doing a couple weeks.

FlimsyFlamsy said...

Why do I suspect Aunt Becky's daughters will score a reality show about this whole thing when the smoke clears?

I was just reading my favorite coupon blog, Hip2Save, and they posted things that are the best value at Dollar Tree. One of them was books, and they posted a picture of a hand holding 3 books, and one of them was that world-renowned New York bestseller by the head mistress of Ms. Gosselin's Home for Exploited Children, "Eight Little Faces!" The title isn't shown, but you can see a few of the little faces on the cover. Wonder how many pennies she makes off a buck? Not exactly fish-in-paper money anymore. Poor Schmoops.

ncgirl said...

If TLC has let her go, Kate probably doesn't think a back to school post is worth the effort.

A Dollar Tree I go to has had Eight Little Faces book for years. You'd think somebody would grab it or they'd throw it away.

I just returned from a family trip down South, and as we were driving along I-85 in southern North Carolina, we passed an exit for Belmont Abbey College. It reminded me, of course, of the Lost Episode, and also the fact that it has been a full year since the G kids have been subjected to cameras in their faces. Now, that's something to celebrate. Let's hope that they have many carefree, camera-free years ahead of them. And if they do decide that they want to film, it will be by personal choice and not their greedy mother's attempt to use them to finance her lifestyle.

I'm not surprised that Kate hasn't posted any back-to-school pictures. If there's no payout then she's not interested. I don't doubt that she's tried to get People Magazine to stop by and do a photo shoot and story (and drop off a check for Mommy before they leave), but even People seems to know the Gosselins don't sell anymore.

I find myself wondering if they're actually going back there this year and whether or not they have any choice. I guess we'll know soon.

Sad but true (196)
I think if Kate can possibly afford it, the kids will stay in their school--if only to save face. She said she'd work her fingers to the bone to keep them in their school and their house. If word got out that she didn't even try to work in order to keep her promise to them, it might not look good. Also, I'm sure she's reminded the remaining kids multiple times that C&H had to give up their private school when they went to live with Jon. How would they feel if they stayed with her, yet still had to move schools? They might not take it so well. It might weaken her hold on them.

She's keeping very quiet now, but eventually word will get out about what they're up to. She might be in a difficult position now that she's been fired and nobody is showing any interest in her at all. Her "hook" was always her set of 8 (and subset of 6), and she can't offer that anymore. And--horrors!--her use of the kids' trusts is now being monitored. No more dipping into them for spa days or Nobu. Who knows how much remains in those accounts? Now is when things get very real for her. She still needs to come up with the cash for many years of private school and college, while still covering all the expenses for the house. She's finally responsible for providing the kids with the things she promised. Let's see if she can do it.

There is no rebuttal for this kind of exceptional failure. How on earth does a 'normal' person with even an average IQ BEGIN to defend this? What a world. We're so fucked until he is run out of the WH. FUCKED.

True story. I can’t wait until we replace him with that guy in end stages of dementia. We’ll be in great shape then.

She’s baaaack! What is she referencing?

FlimsyFlamsy said...

Layla (#197), TFW's "brand" has been destroyed in every possible way. She's not a frazzled young mother anymore. She isn't a struggling single mother trying to manage 8 kids alone anymore. She isn't parenting 2 sets of multiples anymore. She isn't even balancing her "career" with motherhood anymore.

Considering how far she's fallen off the radar, she may be wishing she's gotten into some college admission mischief herself. At least people are talking about Aunt Becky. And, "awnestly," after 6 months of quarantine, Schmoopy might welcome 2 months away from her 4 remaining cast members.

I suppose there's no ruling out a special in the future, but this article details pretty well the reasons why K8 won't be back on TLC in the near future. Unless, of course, she wants to do something on a 90-day timeline?

I wouldn't put it past her.
