An over two-year investigation finally led to Duggar's arrest by Homeland Security yesterday.
A Springdale man was arrested yesterday for receiving and possessing material depicting the sexual abuse of children.
According to court documents, Joshua James Duggar, 33, allegedly used the internet to download child sexual abuse material. Duggar allegedly possessed this material, some of which depicts the sexual abuse of children under the age of 12, in May 2019.
Duggar is charged by indictment with receiving and possessing child pornography. If convicted, he faces up to 20 years of imprisonment and fines up to $250,000.00 on each count.. A federal district court judge will determine any sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.
This case is being prosecuted as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice. Led by U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and CEOS, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims. Acting U.S. Attorney David Clay Fowlkes of the Western District of Arkansas; and Acting Special Agent in Charge Jack Staton of Homeland Security Investigations New Orleans made the announcement.
This case is being investigated by Homeland Security Investigations Fayetteville and the Northwest Arkansas Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Carly Marshall and Dustin Roberts, and Trial Attorney William G. Clayman of the Justice Department’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section.

I was pleased to see the photos of Hannah and Collin on their first day of school. They look healthy and happy. Jon may not be the perfect parent (but who is, they all make mistakes sometimes-I don't have any children which is why I said "they"). But Jon always came across as loving his children and enjoying them (like when he took the three boys out for outings). But Kate never really seemed to care. She only cared about playing up to the camera. But anyway, that part of Kate's and kids' lives are over. I respect that Jon has tried his best to the best for his children. It's just sad that the others continue to reject him. I'm really sad that he and Colleen broke up. That must have been hard for Hannah and Collin.
As for Mady, I hadn't seen a picture of her for years. I saw the Tik Tok vid. Wow, she is the spitting image of her mother. She really looks a lot like Kate. I think she has the same attitude as her mother too, which is sad.

Kate activated her nursing license in NC, eh? Very interesting. She hasn't worked as a nurse for--what--15 years? Does she even remember how to draw blood or give an injection properly? There was a discussion here (years ago) of an episode where she took the kids to a dialysis clinic where she once worked, and couldn't remember how to hook up the machine. If she's activating her license, then she's possibly looking at having to go back to work. Not so surprising, I guess. She's only filmed about 30 episodes of K+8--and 6 episodes of her dating show--over the past 10 years. At 40K each (if TLC didn't drop her salary when the ratings got so bad), that's $1.44 million. Divided by 10 years, that's $144,000 per year, and that's before taxes. Her legal bills have been huge, her living expenses have been huge. So maybe it's not so surprising that she may be looking at going back to a "mediocre" job. The very idea must be hell for her. She can't even whine about the cost of child care keeping her from working, now that the youngest kids are just months from becoming adults. Nobody's going to believe that she'd need a babysitter for them.
I saw the picture of Hannah and Collin, and they both looked very healthy and happy. Isn't it interesting to think that they both drive and have cars, yet Mady (3 1/2 years older) can't drive and obviously doesn't have a car? Of course, we don't know whether she doesn't know how to drive or if she's just not allowed, but still...
What exactly does this woman gain from keeping an active license but never using it? Surely it's so outdated one cannot see the point. And thank you Layla, above you beat me to the punch with what I was going to say!
It seems a little tacky to air cryptic dirty laundry about the relationship but I give her a pass since she’s going through so much right now it might be hard to see the unhelpfulness of using social media to vent.
There are two sides to every story in a breakup and often misunderstandings become amplified because you’re so hurt. She loved Jon deeply and is processing the end of a very long relationship during a very stressful time which isn’t ideal for healing and finding love again. My advice to her is to hold onto all the ways the relationship was good and served you during a specific time and let go of the ways it fell short and eventually ended.

I didn't see any press at all about her nursing license, but if there was, I'm sure she was thrilled by it. She needs her attention fix wherever she can get it. I guess this is proof that Jon's words from 2011 were correct. Reality TV is not a career. Kate said it was, and bashed "mediocre" jobs, yet here she is with nothing but mediocre work in her future. Proof positive that Karma always comes back to bite you in the a$$. It may take awhile, but it's worth the wait.
Did anyone get hit by Ida? Our NYC apartment building got some flooding in the basement, but nothing major. A cleaning crew came in to clean it up, a few hot water heaters had to be replaced--but otherwise we got lucky. It was devastating in other parts of the city. Nobody expected it to hit quite so hard in that area.
Without A Crystal Ball (on YouTube) has a video about Kate getting her new nursing license (she had to get a new one in NC, not just renew her PA license). It opened with a video of the old J&K+8 show, and she's all over Jon about his weight. She actually says (to him), "Is it funny to look as fat as possible and eat as much as possible?". Then when he's getting a spoonful of green beans, she says, "Is that for you?" and he says, "It's green beans. Why can't I eat green beans?". Yikes! I hadn't really thought about the fat-shaming of Jon during their marriage. He wasn't even heavy. Think about it, if he had said the same things to her, people would have been enraged. But since it was her going at him, everyone dismissed it. Does she talk like that to her kids who might gain a little weight? She's a bully. When a bully loses their target person (Jon at first), they don't just stop bullying. They start in on someone else--which was Collin, obviously. Now that Collin hasn't been there for quite awhile, who is her latest target? Maybe her own recent weight gain has kept her nastiness in check. At least I hope. But she's been seen bullying people for so long, I don't think for a minute that she just quit.
Layla (#14), I remember on the show when Jon started working out, and then during a couch interview he said he stopped because he had the flu. TFW SNORTED with laughter, like he was some kind of sissy, and looked over at the crew like, "Can you believe that?" Imagine mocking your spouse on effing national TV like that?
And like I've always said about her with the kids...if that's how she behaved with cameras rolling, you can only magine how awful she was behind closed doors.
Even though Kate isn't on tv or talked about in media much any more I am always surprised there is no comment about her or her kids on twitter by anyone. I would have thought through the last few years that there would be random tweets from a for example a student Or someone who recognizes any of them in public on a street, in a cafe/store etc in their new area. Or see her with a beau.
She can't make every one sign a paper to keep her life private.
Only one I have seen was the one shared on this blog about her leaving her dog piles all over.

What is particularly awful is the fact that Kate was such a whiner about being "bullied", yet she was such a bully herself. What a hypocrite! And she was just sadistic in the way she'd look to the camera crew for approval, as well as making such nasty comments on camera, knowing millions of people would see it.
You're right--according to some leaked comments from insiders, the Kate that was shown on TV was nothing compared to the Kate they saw in private. It makes me shudder to think of what the kids had to go through (especially Collin).
Layla (#14) regarding that Youtuber Without a Crystal Ball, she is piece of work. She belonged to a forum that I followed and she would gather information from that forum and post about it on Youtube like it was her own personal scoop. She never gave any credit to the forum or the posters for the information. Another Youtuber mentioned her and said she is being sued (didn't say by whom) and she still continues to talk about them. The other Youtuber couldn't understand why she wouldn't shut up about whoever it was suing her. She stopped coming to the forum (or maybe was banned, not sure) because everyone on the forum is supposed to remain anonymous and can be banned for giving out too much information about themselves. She joined the forum as "Without a Crystal Ball" then would post YT vids about the one topic she and others posted in.
But anyway, regarding the "green bean" incident, I can recall, all those years ago, how Kate never gave those kids enough food, it appeared. I remember all of us commenting about how their lunches, for the kids, consisted of like 2 Triscuits, a piece of cheese and a couple tortilla chips and Kate bragging about how everything she gave the kids was "organic". (Triscuits are so organic!). Poor Jon probably had to go outside the home to get a decent meal, when he worked. When he stopped working he probably had to sneak some food from craft services. Portion control is one thing, but the way Kate deemed portions seemed pretty small for either a growing child or an adult husband.

I definitely remember those tiny portions Kate used to serve the kids. There was also mention in Robert's book about how Hannah would ask for more at meals, and Kate (in her own diary entry) said it bothered her because she thought Hannah--then about 2 years old--was "chubby-ish". IIRC, Hannah would ask for more chicken or vegetables or sandwich. It's not like she was asking for candy or junk food. Who stresses that much over a toddler wanting more chicken? Kate, that's who. It's insane, and when you think that Hannah was the first child to leave and go to live with Jon--despite being Kate's favorite--it makes you really think about the pressure H was under with her mother. I think Kate was obsessed with her family looking photogenic and camera-ready, even if that meant she had to restrict her toddlers' food intake.
I suppose I assumed Kate would simply feed her children seconds or thirds if they wanted them. I always found it odd though none of those kids were ever allowed to serve themselves. I grew up and raised our children to serve themselves from the table.
Didn't someone mention on here (or was it in Robert's book?) that the "lunches" she fed them were taken from the craft table and that's why the portions were so small? Yeah. Believe it or not there are actually work from home nursing jobs. My cousin got one after having a baby. It's records type stuff, billing and such. Imagine calling to settle up with your insurance and it's Kate Gosselin on the other end, bitter and resentful she has to row with the other slaves and actually work. At least she can do her nails while she does though.

It's hard to say what that means--she's always kept her license current, even though she hasn't worked in the field in 15 years. You have to wonder, though, ow long she's going to be able to live off the money she made from the show. The last episode aired two years ago, and even though she downsized, her expenses are probably still pretty high. She still has a large mortgage, and she and the kids are accustomed to a high standard of living. We don't know whether the 4 tups who are with her are in private school--it would be interesting to find out. She got a big payout for the sale of the PA house, but that won't last forever. In less than 2 years the tups will be in college. Is there still enough money in their trust funds to pay for it? I wouldn't be so sure, although I'm sure we'll hear about it eventually.

The report in the U.S. Sun indicates Kate's deceased father is survived by his own father. Not many people who die at age 71 have a surviving parent. I don't remember if this is the grandfather she spoke so fondly of.

The Sun revealed last month that Kate has gone back into nursing after their family reality show was canceled.
She obtained her registered nurse license on June 30, 2021, according to the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
The expiration date is March 31, 2023 and she has a "multi-state license."
The mom of eight’s registered nurse license is also active in Pennsylvania and expires on October 31, 2021.

If she has a multi state license then whatever state she renews in also counts for Pennsylvania. For example, as long as she completes the required ceu's for North Carolina and then decides to take a travel contract ( we all know that will never happen) in Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania will honor her North Carolina license. Not all states do this. I myself have a multi state RN license.
Also, I believe the reason she keeps up her license is because nursing school is hard as hell and it is easier to do the ceu's every two years. Plus it truly is the only thing she has ever accomplished.
Well, today is apparently the last day for Josh Duggar to accept a plea bargain. From what I read, he can plead guilty in exchange for 10 years in prison. Otherwise he goes to trial next month. His lawyers, of course, tried one last time to get all the evidence thrown out--all requests denied. So, what will he do? It's going to come down to his narcissism vs self-preservation. I think his narcissism will win. He won't be able to bring himself to admit to any wrong-doing, even if the price is many, many decades in jail. He'll spend (hopefully) the rest of his life behind bars, still proclaiming his innocence, even though nobody except Anna will believe him. At least we'll know he can never contribute to the victimization of another child again. If, however, he decides to plead guilty and take the 10 years--I'll be completely shocked. I can't imagine him saying the word "guilty" no matter what evidence they have against him. Apparently we'll find out for sure on Friday.

I have never before watched episodes of Outdaughtered. But I thought to myself, isn’t it just a similar edited or altered reality like the Gosselin’s? Probably with multiple takes? They’re invading these girls privacy for payment, these kids are working, they’ve probably been on trips, had stores emptied for them and whatnot.
Isn’t it the same exploitation? At least Danielle seems far more like able.
I’m still waiting to hear if Josh has taken a plea deal or not I thought it was last Friday. My heart does ache for his kids. It’s not right. One of my grandkids had their birthday recently and I just can’t reckon how much damage this has caused his family for his selfishness.

He must really believe that he'll get away with it, probably because he's a Duggar and also because he thinks Daddy will buy his way out of trouble. There's been many references to Jim Bob's money and connections throughout this mess, so they must think that's enough to make this go away. You'd think that the fact that all their attempts to throw out the evidence have failed might give them some clue that this might not turn out the way they want. But--they're the Duggars. They think they're holier than thou. We'll see soon enough. I'm just hoping the trial doesn't get delayed.
Happy Birthday to your grandchild! I hope it was an amazing celebration. My little snugglebug Sully just turned two, and he's the most amazing little human being! He knows all his letters, numbers, colors, shapes, body parts--and he's even sight-reading words. He can spell things from memory too. He's the funniest little guy, great sense of humor, and the best big brother. He lights up our lives every single day. I think having children and grandchildren makes us more leery of situations like Josh's. That urge to protect and nurture make cases like his really hit home for us. It's personal. This is a little OT and may have already been discussed, but I've been watching "Karen" vids on Youtube. I find it highly comical and ironic that Kate's old, short haircut, is now the helmet for "Karens" LOL. Whenever there is a Meme or a thumbnail on a public freakout video, it is usually a cartoon face with Kate's "long in the front, party in the back" haircut. And that, my friends is Kate's legacy. My mother saw Jon on Dr. Oz today. He said Hannah wants to graduate early and Colin wants to join the military. Hannah keeps in touch with her sisters but not her brothers.

You know, for the longest time I had been mostly concerned about the damages the filming would do. But this damage is much more long term, much deeper, and will linger until their dying day if they don't repair this and soon. What an absolute tragedy that any siblings, much less multiples, could be so divided. I hope and pray that with wisdom and age comes introspection, and they will see what their mother did and reach out to one another.
Siblings are a special and unique relationship. They are the ONLY people you truly have a childhood in common with. That is a special thing that most wise adults realize eventually and come together on. It's heartbreaking.
The boys probably at this point are so incredibly parentified over Kate it's going to take a whole lot of professionals to help them get out of this.

I truly believe multiples whether it's twins or more is one of the most special relationships one can experience in life if you are one of the few who are lucky enough to experience it. Anyone who seeks to interfere with that is just evil.

I'm not sure what Jon can do at this point. The twins are going to have to come to their own point where they want contact with him again. Sadly, it could be years. Or be too late. Deep down that connection from when they were little is there that they can't ignore, which is why they read his texts.

Another daughter for Josh and Anna...great, just great. One thing Josh does not need is another defenseless little girl in his home. I'm praying that he is held accountable for the things he has done and never has the opportunity to victimize another little girl--including his daughters. I just read a story about Claire Miller, a 14-year-old student at the same private school as the G kids, murdered her 19-year-old handicapped sister. In PA, if you commit an "adult" crime, like murder, you're automatically tried as an adult. She's trying to get her case transferred to juvenile court.
Layla this is the first I'm hearing of this. It sounds like this young woman struggled severely with mental health issues. The school seems to be blaming the stress of COVID for how much harder this has been on the students, as they should.
I can't remember now when Kate got out of dodge to North Carolina, this was in February. Either way surely her kids would have been disturbed by this and possibly even have known who she was.
I do recall some level of arrogance about this school as some of these prep school folks can be. They were not immune to something like this in the end, something I think most people think is only reserved for inner city public schools.

Josh Duggar child pornography case: Judge orders evidentiary hearing ahead of trial
Josh Duggar was supported by his wife Anna on his way to court on Thursday in Arkansas for a pre-trial hearing ahead of his upcoming child pornography trial.
Duggar, who appeared in TLC’s "19 Kids and Counting," was charged in April with two counts of downloading and possessing child pornography. The 33-year-old faces up to 20 years in prison and fines of up to $250,000 on each count if convicted. The former TV star has pleaded not guilty.
Before the hearing got underway, Duggar was seen walking into the court hand-in-hand with his wife, who announced earlier this week the birth of their seventh child together.
According to a local KNWA reporter on the scene, Judge Timothy L. Brooks ordered an evidentiary hearing with witnesses to take place on Nov. 29, which is just one day before his trial is scheduled to begin.
One day before Duggar's court appearance on Thursday, Judge Brooks ruled on several motions filed by both sides in the case. Per the Nov. 17 filing, Duggar received a small victory when Brooks denied the prosecution's motion to allow a statement Duggar made on Facebook in 2015 in which he admitted to his pornography addiction as evidence.
The judge did note, however, that if Duggar "takes the stand and testifies that he did not view adult pornography or was not addicted to pornography, or if he otherwise contradicts any statement he made in the social media post in 2015, the Government may seek to leave to introduce the statement to impeach his credibility."
The judge also denied the prosecution's motion asking the court to bar Duggar from suggesting to the jury that someone else might have committed the crimes.
"It is the Government's burden to prove that Defendant committed the crimes set forth in the indictment beyond a reasonable doubt, and Defendant is entitled to create reasonable doubt in the jury's minds by pointing the finger at others who may have possibly committed the crimes," the filing states.
In terms of a motion about sequestering witnesses, Judge Brooks ruled that "any witness who has testified — including the Government's designated case agent sitting at counsel table — is prohibited from discussing the substance or his or her own testimony with any witness who has not yet testified and been formally excused from their obligations as a witness. Defendant and his witnesses will be subject to the same sequestration rule."
He also noted that "the Court's rule does not limit counsel from conferring with their own witnesses and preparing them to testify."
The judge also weighed in on Duggar's motion that asked the court to prohibit the government from sharing at trial that he refused to answer questions to him posed by law enforcement during an interview on Nov. 8, 2019. Duggar's legal team essentially wants to exclude 10 separate statements he made invoking his Fifth Amendment right to remain silent. Brooks granted the motion with the instruction that the court "request a sidebar and make its argument outside of the presence of the jury" if the need arises.
TLC pulled "19 Kids and Counting" in 2015 over revelations that Duggar had molested four of his sisters and a babysitter. Duggar’s parents said he confessed to the fondling and apologized.
Per KNWA, the prosecution argued that they should be allowed to use the molestation allegations as evidence in the hearing and said that one or two witnesses will testify to "multiple instances" of child molestation.
Speaking for the defense, Justin Gelfand argued that notice of the witnesses being called was limited to only "a single email" containing some information about what the witness, reportedly including Duggar's father Jim Bob, "may testify to."
The defense then posed a question as to whether Duggar actually committed a crime in 2002 or 2003 under Arkansas statutes, pointing out that it is "undisputed that Mr. Duggar has never been charged."
Gelfand said that he would have liked to receive "proper nouns, dates, and specific allegations" in regard to the potential testimonies.
Because the "information was the subject of a lawsuit [Duggar] filed in this court," the judge called Gelfand's claims "very disingenuous."
Additionally, the defense claimed that they don't believe Duggar's childhood behavior "is probative to behavior in his 30s" and stressed that discussing it in court would lead the trial to become a "series of minitrials" surrounding Duggar's previous potential crimes.
Prosecutor William G. Clayman pushed back, saying he followed all notification requirements and that one of the witnesses in question who has already been subpoenaed with Jim Bob has been impossible to reach, per the outlet.
The judge said that he would be "very hesitant" to make a ruling on the matter if he does not know whether the witness will be present to be called at the trial.
The judge also agreed to take the competing motions under advisement and admitted that Duggar’s prior acts could be considered "highly probative" to his capacity to potentially commit crimes today.
Fox News has reached out to reps for Jim Bob, 56, regarding his potential testimony.
Duggar has also previously apologized for his pornography addiction and for cheating on his wife.
His jury trial is scheduled for Nov. 30.

And if your motivation for spending a fortune on a prep school like this is to shelter kids, you could only end up hurting them when something tragic like this happens, leaving them poorly equipped to deal with something so shocking. Most healthy well adjusted kids should be able to handle a horrific event like this in a healthy manner with no long term damage. Hopefully that is true for all the kids in that school.

I think Kate chose the private school for more privacy in their lives (and for higher quality education) not so much to protect them from bad things. She was more concerned with people putting things on social media about their life. In public schools with more kids she would have less control.(We know how much she likes control of everything)

I just read the account of Jim Bob being asked pre trial questions and his smart ass responses. That whole family is despicable. He told the judge at one point 'I will not allow that' and the judge quickly told him you are not an attorney and you don't get to say you will allow it'. Then he 'couldn't remember' because it was so many years ago. For these people to claim to be Christians and to all behave this way is horrible. I hope Josh gets the harshest sentence possible.

Recent reports of Josh's trial are truly stomach-churning. Everything we had heard about before--and the torture of a baby. What???? This guy is sick beyond comprehension and should never, ever have access to any child, ever again. From what I read, a man testified that he worked with Josh at the car lot during the time when the offences occurred--maybe offering himself up as a sacrificial lamb of sorts? He admitted that when the feds came to the Duggar house, he is the one who came outside and told them to leave. So he has some ties to the family. He didn't admit to downloading the files, just said that he worked at the car lot.
Apparently Anna set up a program to monitor Josh's internet activity, but Josh then set up a VM (virtual machine) to circumvent her program, and hid all his porn there. The password was the same as the one for Josh's financials. No way did some random guy helping out at the car lot do all of that without Josh knowing. Seriously, the "office" is smaller than my closet!
I know this case is solid, but I'm still nervous about Jim Bob's money and influence in that area. Please tell me he can't buy Josh's way out of this!!!!

I find it amusing to watch the two of them go through this kangaroo court of a trial like they actually think he's getting off.

Hope everyone has a terrific holiday season, celebrating, decorating, cooking however/ whatever you enjoy. I'm still watching DWTS and enjoyed this season and the winner and even Tyra's outfits. Also enjoying the most recent Survivor season, there are many fascinating personalities this season. Now happily watching dozens of Hallmark and Lifetime holiday movies. Christmas Sail with Katee Sackhoff is one of my favorite 2021 Christmas movies so far, but it's only December 9! Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, Feliz Navidad, Happy Holidays everyone!
Very pleased with the guilty verdict for Josh. Glad Jim-Blob couldn't get the pervert out of this one.
I wonder how much actual time his sentence will be. He probably thinks 5 years tops with that big old smile.
As much as I am grateful that justice was served, I can't help thinking the fact that he was the oldest child and his parents were popping out babies yearly has had a direct effect on his psyche. Consider the fact he was probably required to care for babies and toddlers when he was very young himself. Those parents failed him by not finding healthy outlets for his curiosity. Hopefully every one of those children , along with his children receive counseling. The parents disgust me almost as much as he does.
Incredibly relieved at the guilty verdict. Yesterday Jim Bob thanked people for their prayers. How about some prayers for the innocent children who were forced to do unthinkable things to turn on deviants like his son? I think JB has some sort of primary election coming up. Methinks this might throw a wrench into the works, eh?

The jury got the case this afternoon. I hope he is not acquitted but a lot of people feel he will be. Maybe there will be a verdict by Friday.
